As expected given COVID-19, China’s construction and, especially, investment around the world plunged in the first half of 2020. The decline may be exaggerated by Chinese firms not wanting to report global activity, but Beijing’s happy numbers are not credible.
From what little can be discerned, the Belt and Road Initiative is becoming more important, primarily because rich countries are more hostile to Chinese entities.
American policy needs to shift. Incoming Chinese investment is now extremely small, but technology is still being lost due to lack of implementation of export controls. Growing American portfolio investment in China is unmonitored and may support technology thieves, human rights abusers, and other bad actors.
[Jpost] - The new coronavirus has directly caused the death of 9 out of 10 of Italian COVID-19 victims, a study released on Thursday said, shedding new light on the epidemic which mainly struck the country's northern regions.
Since discovering its first infections in February, Italy has reported some 35,000 COVID-19 fatalities.
However, health authorities said many of those who died were also affected by other ailments and this provoked a fierce debate on whether the virus was the actual cause of death.
The study published by the Superior Health Institute and National Statistics Institute ISTAT showed the coronavirus was the direct cause of death for 89% of the 4,942 victims in the sample. Think before you comment, BP

this is a strange result, since covid has been said to cause the victim's immune system to behave destructively, which leads to fatal cases of pneumonia or sometimes to heart attacks. what exactly is a direct covid death?
does death from heart failure or pneumonia count ?

[Washington Free Beacon] Attorney General William Barr announced the indictment of key members of the MS-13 criminal organization as a result of the ongoing Joint Task Force Vulcan.
The attorney general said two deadly MS-13 operatives were charged in the last week. In the Eastern District Court of Virginia, an MS-13 member was indicted on terrorism charges. In the Eastern District Court of New York, meanwhile, the attorney general has filed a notice of intent to seek the death penalty for another gang member who killed seven people in the span of a year. According to the federal report, 21 other gang members were arrested in the last week.
"In 2017, the President directed the Department of Justice to go to war against MS-13, and we did just that," Barr said Thursday.
"In 2017, the President directed the Department of Justice to go to war against MS-13, and we did just that," Barr said Thursday. "While there is still work to be done, the Department of Justice remains committed to protecting Americans threatened by MS-13, and we will not rest until we have successfully defeated this transnational criminal organization."
MS-13, or the Mara Salvatrucha gang, is an international criminal organization with up to 50,000 members. The gang is based in Central America, but has a large presence in California, North Carolina, and on Long Island. MS-13 has made headlines for "ultraviolent" enforcement of its drug trafficking and territory holdings. Barr referred to the gang as "one of the most dangerous groups in America" in 2018.
Successful prosecutions come as the Department of Justice pursues a broader anti-gang strategic approach. Last week, the department announced its interest in tackling another ascendant violent gang—the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, which operates on both sides of the U.S. border.
Local, state, and national authorities have made combating MS-13 a priority in recent years. A 2019 investigation on Long Island led to the arrest of 96 members on a litany of charges including murder, drug trafficking, weapons possession, and gang violence.
"MS-13 is a ruthless, savage gang which commits acts of violence to recruit, retain and control its members and exact revenge on its rivals, as well as to extort innocent members of our community," Suffolk County district attorney Timothy Sini said after last year's arrest. Barr might want to consider looking into Antifa and BLM in addition to MS-13---all left-wing call-upon-shock-troops for dirty work.

You like the China Response of boot to the face?
In June, as months of lockdown fatigue crept in, my husband wanted to celebrate his father’s 70th birthday in Marco Island, Florida. Although the thought of traveling on an airplane was stressful, I let down my guard after seeing the curve flatten and multiple states reopen.
In Marco Island, my in-laws, my husband and I were a paranoid foursome who stuck out in every crowd. When we ventured out to a popular ice cream shop, we were horrified that none of the customers waiting in line or the staff serving the scoops were wearing masks. Shortly after we flew back to D.C., my husband and I came down with the virus.
When I told my family in Wuhan, they were in disbelief. In six months, it feels like China and the United States have swapped places: Wuhan, where it all started, has reported zero cases and found just 300 asymptomatic carriers since late May, while some U.S. states are seeing thousands of new cases daily. On Sunday, Florida set a single-day record in the United States, with more than 15,000 cases.
My mother is baffled by the U.S. pandemic response: “Americans just won’t listen,” she would tell me with frustration. She is used to seeing Chinese authorities aggressively stomp out every flare-up of the virus. In mid-May, Wuhan swabbed 9 million residents in a “10-day battle” in response to a handful of new cases. Recently, a video that went viral on Chinese social media showed a woman crying hysterically after receiving her positive test result in a Beijing shopping mall. In six days, contact tracers in Beijing identified and quarantined all 292 people who had close contact with her for further testing.
Even as the number of U.S. coronavirus cases passes 3 million, President Trump has repeatedly played down covid-19’s toll on the country.
As with the woman in Beijing, my first reaction to my positive test result was to feel distraught and embarrassed. China’s coronavirus response has fueled social stigma and made some covid-19 patients feel like outcasts who have endangered themselves and society. In some cities, authorities have offered rewards for self-reporting or reporting others who might be infected. Those who test positive must undergo multiple rounds of testing and remain in strict quarantine under medical monitoring for weeks.
But soon I realized that I didn’t have to worry about that. No one enforced any quarantine, though I kept myself indoors for the period that doctors said I could be contagious. Contact tracers in Washington checked on how I felt every week but did not probe into where I went or whom I met. I alerted everyone I had contact with but had the choice to keep it private. My doctor reassured me that I would not be contagious eight days after my first symptoms and that additional tests were not necessary.

So wearing a mask is "boot in the face", FG?

I repeat. She was trying to be nice. To tell you, how much she appreciates the difference. And what did she get from people here at 'burg: WaPo is the enemy!
[Mises] Imagine an articulate chief lemming bragging that not only had his followers jumped off a cliff, but that they had done so in far greater numbers than any other slice of the rodents. This is the position occupied by the US regarding testing for COVID-19.We’ve done more testing than any other country and bragged a lot about doing so; but no one seems to have survived to give a proper interpretation of the results. A lot of mathematical stuff at the link.
The professional and college athletics departments are making the same error. They are testing their athletes daily or every other day using a test that is no better than 70 percent sensitive. Eventually all the players will test positive. They will be isolated for fourteen days, after which they may again test positive, ad infinitum. Perhaps this explains some of the confusing reports we've read?
It should be obvious from the data above that all the testing we have done and continue to do has likely confused more than enlightened. The virus is real and in the wild. How should we effectively deal with it? The best indicator of our status is how many people are in the hospital because of a clinical diagnosis of viral pneumonia. More specifically, how many are in the ICU. Note that testing here is unnecessary, as the assumption today is that any case of viral pneumonia is caused by the coronavirus. Since May 18, in the US, according to Wordometers, the number of serious or critical cases has varied between 18,000 and 15,000, roughly trending downwards. Bit of an uptick in the last week.
If our situation regarding the epidemic improves, widespread testing will have played no role in this improvement. Why any improvement? We recognized who the at-risk population was and they took shelter and continue to do so. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that mortality from COVID-19 in patients younger than 50 is 0.05 percent. Virtually all of this mortality in younger patients comes from those with comorbidity. We also have gotten better at treating patients with severe pneumonia caused by the coronavirus.
The virus is likely to be with us for some time. Epidemics end either when those most susceptible to the pathogen have been exposed to it or when an effective and safe vaccine is available. We don’t have such a vaccine. It’s hard to know when or if one will be available. And the logistics of manufacturing and administering billions of doses are formidable. In the meanwhile, we have to coexist with it while not destroying society, socially and economically, in the process. We will also have to admit that our current testing regime has alarmed the planet without contributing a health benefit. But in April everyone told us we needed massive testing! I swear I remember that!

If this were a deadly worldwide pandemic, we'd all know it. We'd personally know people who had died. There wouldn't need to be scary headlines daily to remind us.

My Doc has 3 in ICU for 7 weeks so far.
(753 positive in the county, 8 dead)
My 2 degrees of separation is a gentleman who was unable to receive a stent due to 'elective' surgeries being postponed. Also, I'd say people on this board will have a higher rate of acquaintance with the vulnerable just based on age. But point taken.

Ok. Let me try this a different way. How many of us know someone who passed in the last year from cancer, heart attack, accident, etc? Now, compare that number to COVID deaths.
I don't pay attention to the always increasing number. Because naturally if you add 1 to a number it increases and the medias usual PANIC laced headline follows: Convid-19 Virus cases surge (citing the total number),
What we do know:
* nationwide C-19 testing is finally underway.
More testing obviously produces what? If you said increased results correct.
* More testing increases false positives results.
* False Positives range from 15.2% to 26.9% we are told this by the CDC/WHO/NIH and etc...
* Plus testing uncovers 10's of 1000's that have the antibodies by either natural or acquired immunity. Or had a mild to bad cold and were over in 2-3 days at home.
=====================
So here is how I look at the numbers:
there are ## Million residents in my state X # were infected over over 200 days since c-19 arrived. So on any given day of those 200 days X # of people were NOT INFECTED vs. how many that were. X # of Infected died vs. X number that did not die, out of ## Million.
Now use the US population of 342,000,000 (342M) X 200 days = 68,400,000,000 (68.4B) My odds getting C-19 are 68B ./.# of reported c-19 cases that day.

"So if we only monitor deaths we'll at least have viable statistics."
If only. We are counting all deaths *with* COVID as deaths *from* COVID. In other words, if you die in a car crash and a postmortem test is positive for COVID (and all dead are being tested), then it's reported as a COVID death. I wish I were making this up.
Also, keep in mind the ~30% false positive rate from current tests.
[UPI] A federal judge on Wednesday blocked what was scheduled to be the second federal execution this week after a 17-year moratorium. The same Obama-appointed Judge that was overruled by the Supremes Monday. Round 2 should be overruled too and she needs a bitchslap
The Department of Justice had planned to execute Wesley Ira Purkey, 68, for the rape and murder of 16-year-old Jennifer Long in 1998. After killing the teen, he dismembered, burned and dumped her body in a septic pond. He was also convicted in state court of murdering 80-year-old Mary Ruth Bales with a hammer.
The order by Washington, D.C., District Judge Tanya Chutkan blocks Purkey's execution. In a second order, Chutkan imposed an injunction on two other scheduled executions, renewing a challenge to the government's new protocol involving the drug used for lethal injection. I'd take him out and feed him alive to hogs. More fitting
"The court finds that at least one of plaintiffs' claims has a likelihood of success on the merits, and that absent a preliminary injunction, plaintiffs will suffer irreparable harm," Chutkan wrote in her order on Purkey's case.
Attorneys for Purkey have argued his execution should at least be delayed because dementia has left him unable to understand his punishment.
Wednesday's was supposed to be the federal government's second execution in two days, after Daniel Lewis Lee was put to death on Tuesday at the U.S. Penitentiary at Terre Haute, Ind., which was the first federal execution in 17 years. A third execution at the facility, for inmate Dustin Lee Honken, was scheduled for Friday -- and a fourth, for Keith Dwayne Nelson, on Aug. 28.
Attorneys for Purkey filed a request for a stay due to their client's health. In a filing with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in June, Purkey's attorneys said executing him in his current condition violates the Eighth Amendment.
"Wes Purkey is a severely brain-damaged and mentally ill man who suffers from Alzheimer's disease," defense attorney Rebecca Woodman said.
"He has long accepted responsibility for the crime that put him on death row, but as his dementia has progressed, he no longer has a rational understanding of why the government plans to execute him.
"He believes his execution is part of a large-scale conspiracy against him by the federal government in retaliation for his frequent challenges to prison conditions, and he believes his own lawyers are working against him within this conspiracy."
Purkey's attorneys said two medical experts -- Dr. Bhushan Agharkar and Dr. Jonathan DeRight -- have diagnosed him with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Judges that do things like this should be removed based on the "good order" clause in their appointment. They are no longer serving the Constitution and the laws passed in accordance to it, but their own political beliefs. We also need to "terminate with great prejudice" a number of others, to get the attention of others.

The media has tried to position Zoom Video as an American company because it is located in San Jose, but the founder, Eric Yuan, was born and educated in Communist China and came to the US in 1997. According to le Wik:
"A large part of Zoom's workforce is based in China, which has given rise to surveillance and censorship concerns",
and
"Zoom's product development team is largely based in China, where an average entry-level tech salary is one-third of American salaries, which is a key driver of its profitability"
Maybe I'm paranoid, but anything associated with mainland China nowadays is suspicious from the get-go.
[Times of San Diego] As the USS Bonhomme Richard continued to burn at Naval Base San Diego, the Navy on Wednesday commissioned a new amphibious assault ship that will be based in San Diego.
The USS Tripoli, the second ship in the America-class, is an improvement over the Wasp-class Bonhomme Richard. The new 46,000 ton warship is small aircraft carrier, capable of carrying over 30 aircraft, including helicopters, MV-22 Osprey tiltrotors and the new F-35B vertical-takeoff stealth fighter.
The commissioning at the Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard in Mississippi was virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic, though the Navy plans a future public event.
"Tripoli is an example of the continued investment in our Navy, to increase and maintain our edge on the battlefield," said Rear Adm. Philip E. Sobeck. "Congratulations to Tripoli's crew for all of your hard work, amidst these challenging times, to reach this milestone. We welcome you to the amphibious force, of combat-ready ships and battle-minded crews to go to sea and support sustained combat operations."
Sobeck, commander, Expeditionary Strike Group 3, briefed the media in San Diego on Tuesday about progress in fighting the raging fire on the Bonhomme Richard.
The new warship's name commemorates the Marines who captured the city of Derna, Libya, in 1805 to end the First Barbary War. The event was later memorialized in the Marines' Hymn with the line, "to the shores of Tripoli."
The Tripoli is the 10th amphibious assault ship in the Navy's fleet. A third America-class assault ship, the future USS Bougainville, is under construction.

Wondering how the Bonhomme Richard manifest analysis is going...
#2
They have to wait until the fire is completely out and all the toxic fumes is aired out before they can start analyzing the ship.
My guess is that the USS Bonhomme Richard will be declared a total loss as a warship, it might be usable as a civilian support ship, but doubt anyone will want to put money into it when one could buy one of the used LHA in the Naval Reserve and restore them for far less money..

@#2: Understood, but my curiosity is in determining the shipping origins of the refurb materials that, as I've heard, were a major fuel source for the fire.

In a move that's being called "unprecedented tyranny," Walmart is now requiring all shoppers to wear pants in their stores.
Americans everywhere slammed Walmart for the move, saying it amounted to an infringement on our constitutional rights.
"I thought this was America," said one man as a greeter asked him to please put on some sweatpants or something before coming into the store. "It is my constitutional right to go into Walmart and shop for random stuff at 3 a.m. wearing nothing but some boxers and a giant Tweety Bird T-shirt I got in the '80s."
"Look, we don't think this is too much to ask," said a Walmart spokesperson. "Just throw on some sweats, pajama bottoms, whatever. This is for the health and mental safety of our employees. And for the love of God, take a shower once in a while, you know?"

Thought this was the Bee for certain. I went to Wal-Mart a couple of days ago. I don't recall whether I was wearing pants. Masks were required. There was only one door in or out and they were keeping track of how many shoppers were in the store at a given time. There were a lot of workers stocking shelves and many workers filling orders for curbside pickup. I tried to get someone to open one of the cabinets in electronics to no avail. Some customers had been waiting there for 1/2 hour and no one showed up. Not a very good way of doing business. No wonder people are being driven to Amazon.

No worry. forget them and order home delivery. I have and I know many others will avoid shopping there. My son shops Dollar General and calls it his Walmart. Many of the men I talk with have expressed the same opinion. No longer provide a service place barriers to a pleasant shopping experience.

The Walmarts in our area have been mandating this for months...surely 'cuz the guv'nah said so.
But I have other issues with Walmart. No joke/hyperpole: I went shopping this morning, and, front & center on a shelf was their brand of bread. Sell-by date was....July 3rd. Repeat, 07/03/2020. Another brand of bread was about a week past its sell-by date. It's not like these loaves of bread were stashed in the back somewhere...they were neatly arranged. Kudos to the visual merchandiser there.

[Local 10.com] FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Three airline employees were injured during an attack by three women that was captured on video Tuesday night at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
According to Spirit Airlines, the three employees suffered minor injuries when three guests "became combative following a delayed flight."
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest reports, the three women hit the airplane employees "with miscellaneous items, such as phones, shoes, full water bottles, metal boarding signs and fast food."
It happened outside the gate of a flight to Philadelphia in Terminal 4, and you can see women on the video throwing things at Spirit employees and then, eventually, going back to the counter and physically attacking at least one of the employees.
"The victims were also punched and kicked in different sections of their bodies numerous times," the arrest documents say.
The three women arrested are all from Philadelphia:
Tymaya Wright, 20, was arrested on charges of touch or strike battery and petit theft for allegedly taking a Spirit employee’s phone.
Danaysha Dixon, 22, was arrested on charges of or strike battery.
Keira Ferguson, 21, was arrested on charges of touch or strike battery.

[AlphaNewsMN] For one day only, the George Floyd body camera footage was made available to view by appointment only at the Hennepin County Government Center in downtown Minneapolis. No recording allowed and no electronics allowed. The court gave individuals one hour to watch the videos from Office Lane and Officer Kueng— each video was each about 30 minutes.
The following has been complied together from extensive, detailed notes I took while viewing these quite revealing videos. In brief, there is over a 10-minute period of struggle before Floyd was placed onto the ground. From the onset, George Floyd presented himself distraught, panicked, and erratic, making it difficult for officers to apprehend him; from the moment he is approached by officers, Floyd is non-compliant — from refusing to show his hands, stepping out of his vehicle, to refusing to get into the squad car. Consistently throughout the footage, a panicked Floyd struggles to comply with basic commands such as standing up.

For the opposion view check out this from Minneapolis' Fox (actually Faux) News:
FOX 9’s Paul Blume, who viewed the body camera video, reports it is obvious from the start that Floyd was alarmed by having Lane’s gun in his face when the officers approached his driver’s side window. The video shows he is agitated and upset. The gun and its positioning sets the events in motion.

[GatewayPundit] In February of 2019 we reported that we are finding out additional information on how the Trump team was set up by US and foreign agents.
We shared candidate Trump’s unpaid volunteer George Papadopoulos was indicted by the Mueller team for lying. We still don’t know what he lied about, but we are finding out about the FBI’s involvement in setting him up.
Papadopoulos was in an interview with former Secret Service Agent and author Dan Bongino when he shared this –
Bongino: I want to get right to it. I have a list of questions for you. I guess the easiest question to ask is why did you meet with Mifsud?
Papadopoulos: Professor Mifsud is a Maltese professor. Just so everybody understands – he’s not a Russian.
I was working at this organization in London – the London Center for International Law Practice (LCILP) – that unbeknownst to me at the time was apparently some sort of front group for ex-western diplomats and ex-western intelligence types of personalities.
As well, the legal counsel for the FBI in the UK, Arvinder Sambei, just happens to also be a director at this organization I used to work for. I tell this organization ‘Look, I’m joining the Trump Campaign, I’m leaving. I’m going back to the U.S. I’m leaving London’.
But they all of a sudden tell me, ‘before you leave, you really need to come to Rome with us. We want to introduce you to some people there.’ So, I say, ‘that’s fine. I’ll go to Rome. It’s a three-day holiday before I get back to Washington.
They introduce me to Joseph Mifsud at this university in Rome called Link Campus. This isn’t any normal university in Rome. At the time I had no idea what this place was. But apparently, it’s a training ground for western intelligence operatives in Rome. The CIA has held symposiums there. David Ignatius from the Washington Post has actually written extensively about this place. They have connections to the FBI and other groups.
I also saw many Italian diplomats there. The ex-foreign minister of Italy was the director of this university, so things started to pop in my mind that this isn’t just a random event – a random meeting.
They tell me it’s very important for you to meet Josef Mifsud. I had no idea who this person was. He came up to me, presented himself as this mid-fifties, former diplomat, who knew the world.
Today George Papadopoulos and his wife Simona tweeted about Link University:
The Italian “university” where I “bumped” into Joseph Mifsud has been raided by Italian authorities. Italy is with us.
Simona Papadopoulos (who shared her story exclusively with us in June) reported that 14 people at Link campus are under investigation in Italy:
Today 14 people at the Link campus have been put under investigation in Italy. Including Vincenzo Scotti. All the roads lead to Rome.. @GeorgePapa19 ! pic.twitter.com/yPgV6o3Mpd

[Reuters] Ikuko (pictured below), the "big sister" of Tokyo's Akasaka geisha district, came to the capital to seek her fortune in 1964, the year Tokyo first hosted the Olympics. But the novel coronavirus pandemic has made her fear for her centuries-old profession as never before.
Though the number of geisha - famed for their witty conversation, beauty and skill at traditional arts - has been falling for years, Ikuko and her colleagues were without work for months due to Japan's state of emergency and now operate under awkward social distancing rules.
"There were more than 400 geisha in Akasaka when I came, so many I couldn't remember their names. But times changed," Ikuko, now 80, said. Only 20 remain, and there aren't enough engagements to take on new apprentices - especially now.
[Federalist] Former chief of neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center, Dr. Scott Atlas told Fox News there are "zero excuses" to keep children from returning to schools in the fall.
"There is virtually zero risk for children getting something serious or dying from this disease. Anyone who thinks schools should be closed is not talking about the children. It has nothing to do with the children’s risk," he said. "There’s no rational reason or science to say that children transmit the disease significantly."
Dr. Atlas pointed out that many American teachers are not in high-risk age groups and therefore, should not be concerned. He also noted that those who are nervous or high-risk can take extra precautions.
"It’s true that there are high-risk teachers and those teachers should be able to believe in their social distancing and masks. They can teach using social distancing. And if they still are afraid they can stay at home. There’s no reason to lock up the children," he said.
According to Dr. Atlas, closing down the schools and continuing online education would hinder children from a full learning experience that includes social interaction and hands-on teaching.

Neuroradiology is a subspecialty of radiology focusing on the diagnosis and characterization of abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, spine, and head and neck using neuroimaging techniques.
The study by the University hospital in Dresden analysed blood samples from almost 1,500 children aged between 14 and 18 and 500 teachers from 13 schools in Dresden and the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz in May and June.
The largest study conducted in Germany on schoolchildren and teachers included testing in schools where there were coronavirus outbreaks.
Of the almost 2,000 samples, only 12 had antibodies, said Reinhard Berner , a professor of paediatrics at the hospital, adding that the first results gave no evidence that schoolchildren played a role in spreading the virus particularly quickly.
[PJ] In June, while Americans were focused on the protests and riots that engulfed U.S. cities in the wake of the horrific police killing of George Floyd, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) released an online "teaching tool" called "Talking About Race." The page dedicated to "whiteness" includes an infographic attributing various aspects of American culture to "whiteness" or "white dominant culture." Among other things, this graphic suggests that the nuclear family, science, capitalism, and the Judeo-Christian tradition are forms of oppressive "whiteness" that non-white people should reject as part of an oppressive system.
"Whiteness and the normalization of white racial identity throughout America’s history have created a culture where nonwhite persons are seen as inferior or abnormal," the Smithsonian "whiteness" page reads. The "teaching tool" suggests that "whiteness" needs to be overthrown in order for non-white people to become liberated from an oppressive "white culture."
The Smithsonian "teaching tool" takes a radical stance on "white privilege," arguing that every white person in America has benefited from his or her skin color ("If you are white in America, you have benefited from the color of your skin."). While it is true that white people do not have the same struggles as various racial minorities, some white people (like some Asian people) have been passed over in some cases due to affirmative action programs. White people have also been unfairly demonized as oppressors.

I can't find it on the interwebs, but in a galaxy far, far away the great Boston Celtics center Bill Russell was asked whether being black gave him natural advantages when it came to playing basketball. Russell replied something like: "Well, gee, if I had known I had all that natural talent I wouldn't have spent 10,000 hours practicing in the gym."

It's fine with me if non-white people choose to reject Western Civilization. They can go back to living in the jungle in grass huts with no running water, no plumbing, no electricity, and no agriculture. They can go to the witch doctor when they get sick. They can hunt with spears and bows and arrows and forage for nuts and berries. Some people might actually enjoy living that way. They just can't do it here in my neighborhood.

I'm sure David Duke is smiling. His toxic ideas have taken root, just in unexpected places.
[Washington Examiner] The Unity Task Force created by presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has called for a "postal banking" system for people who don’t have access to regular banks, while experts and government reports pan the idea.
"I do not think it is the solution to improving the reach of financial services in our country," said Carrie Hunt, executive vice president of government affairs and general counsel for the National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions.
Hunt is not alone in her assessment.
The Government Accountability Office, which audits the federal government, released a report in March that tapped the opinions of postal service officials and other stakeholders about the U.S. Postal Service adding banking to its amenities list and deemed that the post office "may not have the expertise nor the required capital" to pull it off.
The report also stated that the idea "may generate minimal revenue" as the post office seeks new income streams as it reported revenue losses of over $8 billion last fiscal year. This isn’t the first time that the agency has reported such losses.
The Postal Times reported on Friday that "over the past 14 years, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has lost $78.5 billion and now has $143 billion in unfunded liabilities. No one should be inspired enough by that performance to allow the agency to handle anyone’s money."
The Treasury Department also opposes granting the post office the power to provide financial services because of its limited capital reserves and lack of experience in the banking sector.
Its report from December 2018 stated that "given the USPS’s narrow expertise and capital limitations, USPS should not pursue expanding into new sectors, such as postal banking."

Insofar as it goes, true. But an appreciable chunk of that is the fact that Congress, always willing to bribe voters and let someone else pay for it, pulled this stunt:

It's says nothing about profitability. [Jpost] The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... will shift part of its Hong Kong office to Seoul, in an ominous move as worries grow that the new national security law China imposed on the financial hub two weeks ago would curb media and other freedoms in the city.
The Times said its employees have faced challenges securing work permits and it would move its digital team of journalists, roughly a third of its Hong Kong staff, to the South Korean capital over the next year.
The move delivers a blow to the city's status as a hub for journalism in Asia, and comes as China and the United States have clashed over journalists working in each other's countries. Earlier this year, Beijing said journalists no longer allowed to work in mainland China could not work in Hong Kong either.
"Given the uncertainty of the moment, we are making plans to geographically diversify our editing staff," a spokeswoman for The Times told Rooters.

South Korea would be better served by denying anyone from mainland China the opportunity to induce unknown 'pathogens' into their environment. We'd all be better served by moving the offices and personnel from their Hudson river location to Hong Kong.
[Jpost] China will sanction Lockheed Martin for involvement in the latest US arms sale to Chinese-claimed Taiwan, Beijing said on Tuesday, adding tension to its troubled relationship with the United States.
The US weapons maker is the main contractor for a $620 million upgrade package for Taiwan's Patriot surface-to-air missiles, which the US government approved last week.
Chinese foreign ministry front man Zhao Lijian called on the United States to stop selling weapons to Taiwan to "avoid further harming Sino-U.S. ties and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait."
"To safeguard the country's interests, China has decided to take necessary steps, and put sanctions on the main contractor for this sale, Lockheed Martin," Zhao told news hounds, without giving details.
[Jpost] The IDF Spokesperson's Unit announced on Wedensday that IDF soldiers had thwarted an attempted attack, arresting a squad of four alleged Death Eaters near the city of Nablus in the area of the Samaria Regional Council.
According to the statement, two Molotov cocktails and one IED were seized from the four men. The suspects and weapons have been transferred for further investigation by Israel's security agencies.

[ToloNews] The Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... initiated attacks in 20 provinces over the past two weeks, according to local officials in various provinces.
In the latest incidents, the Taliban launched attacks on Afghan cops in Maiwand district of Kandahar and Imam Sahib district of Kunduz, killing at least six members of the Afghan cops. 10 other security personnel were maimed.
"The Taliban launched attacks on Kalbad, Imam Sahib, Chardara and Dasht-e-Archi districts, they have also launched their offensive operations on the center of Kunduz," said Ghulam Rabbani Rabbani, a member of Kunduz's provincial council.
This comes two days after a suicide boom-mobile explosion and ensuing shootout, claimed by the Taliban, occurred on Monday morning in front of the National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS) compound in Aybak city, the center of the northern Afghan province of Samangan, and ended with three attackers and at least 11 other people killed.
Over the past two weeks, the Taliban also staged attacks in various areas of Kunduz province and the suburbs of Pul-e-Khumri, the center of Baghlan province.
Taliban attacks were also reported in Raghistan, Yaftal Bala and Kohistan ...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns.... districts of Badakhshan province.
"Yaftal Bala, which is a major zone in Faizabad, has witnessed some fighting," said Abdullah Naji Nazari, a member of Badakhshan's provincial council.
Attacks were also reported on Sayedabad, Jalrez and Nirkh districts of Maidan Wardak province.
"The Taliban make frequent attacks on checkpoints," said Sharifullah Hotak, a member of Maidan Wardak's provincial council.
Last week the Taliban launched attacks on the suburbs of Trinkot city, the capital of Uruzgan province in the south.
Attacks also were launched on Moqur, Khawja Omari and Deh Yak districts of Ghazni.
Based on the US-Taliban peace agreement signed in late February, the Taliban pledged to avoid launching attacks on the thriving provincial capitals and highways.
"The peace agreement, which was signed between the Taliban and the US, has been violated so far," said Nazeefa Yousuf Bek, a member of the Afghan parliament.
MASSIVE HUMAN CASUALTIES:
The Afghan security agencies data seen by TOLOnews shows that 2,685 non-combatants were killed or maimed in five months--from Jan. 21 to June 20--but the figures do not differentiate between those who bit the dust and those who were maimed.
The data is from one month ahead of the Feb. 28 peace deal between the US and the Taliban and four months afterward. It shows that civilian casualties have increased after the signing of the peace deal compared to one month ahead of the agreement.
The data indicates that 351 non-combatants were killed or maimed between Jan. 21 and Feb. 19, but the casualties increased to 553 between Feb. 20 to March 19.
A report by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) shows that 1,213 non-combatants were killed and 1,740 civilians were maimed in the first six months of this year--an 11% reduction from the same period in 2019.
The reduction comes amid increasing peace efforts by the Afghan government and its allies, but critics say violence is still high--especially by the Taliban--which is a key element of the grinding of the peace processor.
[ToloNews] Residents in the Arghandi area of Kabul province's Paghman district on Wednesday voiced deep concerns over a dramatic rise in security threats, saying there is a presence of Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... fighters in the area who are launching attacks on security checkpoints, planting IEDs, and extorting locals. Paghman is on the outskirts of Kabul city to the west.
A number of members of the Afghan police force accused the leadership of the security institutions for failing to equip the security forces sufficiently to counter the threats.
Jamshid is an Afghan police officer who has served at the Burjak checkpoint over the past four years. He said that over this time the Death Eaters attacked the checkpoint fourteen times and he ost four of his colleagues.
"There are a lot of attacks, there are a lot of enemies, they are equipped with sophisticated weapons and laser-equipped weapons, we do not have weapons, we should have binoculars," said Jamshid.
"(The Taliban) have a unit there and they have a coordination point, and they are planting mines day and night and launching attacks. They kill the police. Last night also there was an attack on our checkpoint," said Ahmad Shah, a police officer in Arghandi.
According to the police in the area, the Taliban are present in many villages of Arghandi and the security forces can hardly commute on the highway in the area at night.
"The enemy attacks us from the forest side and they have a presence there," said Jamshid.
Ahmad Popal is another officer who says that he does not dare to travel in a military uniform from Kabul city towards Arghandi.
"There was an attack, they also ambushed a vehicle," said Popal.
Meanwhile, ...back at the laboratory, Igor and Oleg were discussing what the quickest way might be to deal with the monster... a number of drivers in the area also said that they hardly travel on the route for fear of roadside mines.
"There is no security on the routes. The Taliban fighters are there, there are festivities," said Zalmay, a driver in Arghandi.
"Every day there is a war, there is motor bomb, the roads remain closed two to three hours," said Naqibullah, a driver.
Officials from the National Directorate of Security ...the Afghan national intel agency... (NDS) have also confirmed that two key Taliban commanders are operating in areas between Arghandi and Kohna Khumar of Maidan Wardak province.
According to the NDS, two days ago the security forces during an operation killed five Taliban and maimed six more in the area between Arghandi and Kohna Khumar.
"Bringing the highway connecting Kabul to neighboring province under the security coverage is our topmost priority," said Abdul Farid Qane, the deputy Minister of Interior for Security.
[KhaamaPress] The Kabul Police forces seized a remote-controlled bomb and thwarted hard boys’ bid to carry out another explosion in the city.
The Kabul Police Headquarters in a statement said the Kabul Police forces discovered and seized the remote-controlled bomb during an operation in Fazel Beg area located in the 5th district of the city.
The statement further added that the Lions of Islam had planted the bomb on a roadside which was seized by the police forces before the Lions of Islam could carry out another bloody attack.
According to Kabul Police Headquarters, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team of the Afghan National Police defused the bomb and prevented another deadly attack in the capital.
The anti-government armed Lions of Islam including Taliban ...Arabic for students... have not commented in this regard so far.
[ALMASDARNEWS] British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the UK should take lessons from other countries, referring to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... , which asserted that its drones had changed the "rules of the game" in the region.
According to the Ministry’s official site, Wallace’s statements came during a conference for the air and space forces, in which he said that Turkey’s use of domestically-made drones in Libya and Syria were effective.
"Look at how Turkey used its domestic aircraft, the Bayrakdar TP-2, in Libya since mid-2019."
He said: "These drones collected information intelligence, performed surveillance missions, and targeted front lines, logistics and logistical bases."
Wallace claimed that Turkey had inflicted heavy losses on the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), thanks to its drones, smart systems on its tanks, and armored vehicles.
He pointed out that if the numbers of the real Syrian Army losses are half of the declared figures, then they will change the rules of the game.

[FoxNews] A Supreme Court police car was set ablaze on Wednesday afternoon outside the high court and police have a suspect in jug, Fox News is told.
The vehicle was parked on Maryland Avenue N.E. in Washington when someone used gasoline, or some other flammable liquid, to set it on fire, Fox News has learned.
"An individual poured an accelerant on and set on fire an unmarked Supreme Court police vehicle parked on Maryland Ave. near First Street, NE," said Kathy Arberg, spokeswoman for the U.S. Supreme Court. "The car was totally burned and an adjacent Court vehicle was also damaged."
The suspect was taken into police custody with minor injuries that were sustained when setting the car ablaze, the source said. No other injuries were reported and no coppers were harmed in the attack, Fox News is told.
"The individual suffered burns in the process," Arberg said. "He was taken into custody by Supreme Court Police and was transported by ambulance for treatment of his injuries."
[NECN] Rhode Island's capital city is looking at providing reparations to residents of African and Native American heritage, Providence Mayor Jorge Elzorza announced Wednesday.
The Democratic mayor signed an executive order creating a "Truth-Telling, Reconciliation and Municipal Reparations Process" that would examine the feasibility of providing reparations, which are typically direct cash payments to individuals.
Elorza said it's the first step in accepting the city's role in the country's fraught racial history, including Black slavery and mistreatment of Native Americans.
"We're putting a marker on the ground and committing to elevating this conversation and using the levers at our disposal to correct the wrongs of the past," he said.
Eloza said two other cities in the country have taken similar steps to provide reparations, but haven't gone as far as what he is pushing Providence to do.

[FOXNEWS] Police arrested 87 people protesting the death of Breonna Taylor outside of Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron's house on Tuesday.
All of those individuals now face felony charges of intimidating a participant in a legal process, police said.
Meanwhile, ...back at the bunker, his Excellency called the chief of staff and complained that the artillery was keeping him awake... activists remain outraged that over four months after Taylor was killed by police issuing a "no-knock" search warrant in her home, Sherlocks have yet to arrest or bring charges against the officers involved in her death.
"The protesters chose to occupy the front yard of a home owned by the Kentucky Attorney General and continuously chant towards he and his neighbors," a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department said in a statement to Fox News. "All were given the opportunity to leave, were told that remaining on the property would be unlawful, and chose not to leave."
Protesters were also hit with misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and violations for criminal trespass. They are facing between one and five years in prison if convicted. All of the protesters were released from the Metro Department of Corrections on Wednesday, WHAS radio reported.
Among those arrested were Houston Texans’ wide receiver Kenny Stills and "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Porsha Williams, according to reports.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... ’s Ansarallah Movement announced on Wednesday that it will unveil a new domestically-manufactured ballistic missile after it hit targets inside neighboring Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... .The announcement, which was made by the Ansarallah-affiliated Brigadier General ’Abdullah bin Amer, said that last week’s missile attack struck a number of sites deep inside of Saudi territory.
Among the targets for the Ansarallah missiles was the King Khaled Airport, which is located in the city of Khamis Mushayt.
Furthermore, Ansarallah missiles and drones also struck important oil facilities and military sites inside the bordering provinces of Jizan, Najran a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. It is the capital of the province of the same name, a favored target of Houthi rocket forces because they can see it, so there's no math involved.... , and Asir.
Unlike previous operations that involved the use of only one ballistic missile, the recent strike was conducted using a combination of missiles and drones, bin Amer said.
He also explained that the latest attack came in response to the Saudi Arabia’s ongoing strikes on Yemen, which have become more prevalent over the last few weeks.
"The enemy has tightened its blockade of Yemen and thus the armed forces have a duty to break the siege through military operations," bin Amer added.

More on the study g(r)omgoru posted as a comment in this thread yesterday.
[FranceSoir] Long discussions ignited the web and social networks on the role of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment against Covid-19. These exchanges often boil down to throwing in the face the results of various and varied studies. There followed an expert debate on the validity of the study and the various protocols, allowing each to be given the opportunity to advance, with a certain bad faith, their oriented arguments. Indeed, it is always possible to find an argument in favor of the result of a study if it tends to demonstrate the ineffectiveness of hydroxychloroquine, and vice versa.
When its effectiveness is not in question, we talk about its side effects. The reality is that this drug has been prescribed for 65 years (1955). Its side effects and precautions for uses are well documented.
An almost incomprehensible debate for the French
It is becoming more and more difficult for viewers or readers to know where to turn, the debates of experts relating to points of detail so limited that we forget the essentials: there have been deaths, many too many dead and sick. While experts from a certain medical world disconnected from reality debated on television sets, other doctors were fighting with the disease without having the right to prescribe in their souls and conscience (according to the reasonably established state of science medical). The Lancet study will have caused great harm to patients since it was followed by immediate effects such as the suspension of prescription and dispensing authorizations for hydroxychloroquine. The World Health Organization (WHO) decided to suspend the trials or to simply ban the drug from being dispensed. Switzerland did the same around the 27th of May, 2020.
The fraudulent study was withdrawn from the 4th of June, but Swiss patients remained deprived of this treatment until the 11th of June, "The OFSP decided to lift the measures put in place for its prescription and dispensing. The Plaquenil® and Zentiva® Hydroxychloroquine can be re-ordered directly from the wholesaler. ” According to the critics of hydroxychloroquine, these 15 days of prohibition should have had no impact on patient survival, but this is not the case: it is enough to look at the evolution over time of the proportion of deaths among newly resolved cases, only to find that hydroxychloroquine, the only molecule banned within this time, works.
Hydroxychloroquine saves lives.
It was enough the collaboration of three internet users to solve this enigma (see the article “story of a discovery”): the discovery of a strict temporary suspension of the HCQ in Switzerland, the nrCFR * efficiency index of treatments, the observation of a “bump” of ~ 2 weeks in this index for Switzerland, the link with the suspension, and finally the analysis concluding with the statistical significance of this correlation with a very high degree of certainty ( > 99%). All analyzes were made from international data “global time series” “Deaths” and “Recovered” from Johns Hopkins University updated every night.
Peter Izmirly, M.D., from the New York University School of Medicine in New York City, and colleagues recruited anti-SSA/Ro-positive mothers with a previous pregnancy complicated by CHB for a two-stage clinical trial (19 first stage and 35 second stage). Patients received 400 mg daily of hydroxychloroquine from before completion of gestational week 10 through pregnancy.
The researchers found that four of 54 pregnancies (7.4 percent) resulted in a primary outcome of second-degree or third-degree CHB any time during pregnancy in the intention-to-treat analysis. This was lower than the historical rate of recurrence of CHB of 18 percent. Nine mothers took potentially confounding medications after enrollment but before the primary outcome and were therefore replaced with nine additional mothers who were recruited and followed an identical protocol. In the per-protocol analysis, four of 54 fetuses (7.4 percent) developed a primary outcome. Secondary outcomes included one case of mild endocardial fibroelastosis and four cases of cutaneous neonatal lupus.
"Testing for anti-SSA/Ro antibodies is not part of the normal screening of pregnant women, but it should now be considered," a coauthor said in a statement. "One implication of our findings is that hydroxychloroquine could be effective in preventing CHB in newborns of first-time, pregnant women with anti-SSA/Ro antibodies, which could change the way we evaluate all pregnancies regardless of a mother's health."
Here's hoping this the beginning of the end of this trash heap.
[DigitalTrends] Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said it had been a “tough day” for the team after numerous high-profile Twitter accounts were hacked in a Bitcoin scam on Wednesday, July 15.
“Tough day for us at Twitter,” Dorsey said in a tweet posted at 6.20 p.m. PT, just a few hours after the security breach took place, adding, “We all feel terrible this happened.”
The Twitter boss said his team is now trying to establish precisely how it occurred, and promised to “share everything we can” once the investigating team has more information.
Dozens of high-profile accounts were hit in the scam, with each one posting a message that offered to pay a sender double any payment they made to a Bitcoin wallet address included in the tweet. According to Blockchain.com data, more than $100,000 had been sent to the Bitcoin wallet via more than 370 transactions as of early Wednesday evening.

[Al Ahram] More than 70 rich countries have signed up to a global coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... vaccine initiative intended to ensure that any effective shots are fairly distributed around the world - but which may also allow them to buy more vaccines to stockpile for their own citizens.
In a statement on Wednesday, the vaccines alliance Gavi reported that 75 countries have said they would join its new ``Covax facility'' along with another 90 low-income countries that hope to receive donated vaccines.
The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported this week that the Gavi initiative may allow rich countries to reinforce their own coronavirus vaccine supplies while leaving fewer doses available for more vulnerable populations.
When Gavi approached donor countries last month, it advertised the plan as an ``insurance policy'' for rich countries that have already struck deals with drugmakers for experimental COVID-19 vaccines.
Gavi told donor governments that when an effective inoculation is found within its pool of COVID-19 candidates, all countries will receive enough to cover 20% of their populations, including rich countries that may have their own stockpiles. It said countries would be encouraged, but not required, to give up any doses they might not need.
``For the vast majority of countries, whether they can afford to pay for their own doses or require assistance, it means receiving a guaranteed share of doses and avoiding being pushed to the back of the queue,`` Gavi CEO Seth Berkley said in a statement.

[ALMASDARNEWS] Tunisian media sources reported that Prime Minister Elias El-Fakhfakh officially submitted his resignation on Wednesday to Tunisian President Qais Said, after the latter asked him to resign.According to Tunisian "Mosaique FM" radio, Prime Minister Elias El-Fakhfakh submitted his resignation to Tunisian President Qais Said, after the meeting held today at the Carthage Palace in the Tunisian capital.
The radio had reported earlier today that the Tunisian President had met with Tunisian Prime Minister Elias Fakhfakh, Tunisian Parliament Speaker Rashid Ghannouchi, as well as the Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labor Union, Noureddine Taboubi.
The radio quoted sources that it considered "trustworthy" that Tunisian President Qais Said formally requested the Prime Minister, Elias El-Fakhfakh, to present his resignation in front of those present.
According to the website, the request to resign comes after the events and developments in the file "suspicion of conflict of interest for traps around deals related to companies he owns or owns shares in its capital."
A number of Tunisian representatives and parliamentary blocs submitted today a list signed of 105 Tunisian representatives to the office of the People’s Assembly, which they demanded to withdraw confidence from the traps.
The signed list represented the blocks of "Ennahda Movement", "Heart of Tunisia", "Al-Karama Coalition" and a number of independent representatives.
In turn, Imad al-Khumairi, a leader in the "Islamic Renaissance" party , confirmed today, the party’s "Shura Council", the option of withdrawing confidence from the prime minister, and instructing the party’s leader, Rashid al-Ghannushi, to follow up on the implementation of this option.

A once sane Tunisia is slowly going nuts and the Muslim Brotherhood in the name of the Islamic Renaissance Party and long-time Muslim Brother Rachid Ghannouchi are waiting to take over.
[GATESTONEINSTITUTE.ORG] An increasingly popular idea is that whenever races clash, only minorities can be victims. The notion is hardly limited to the recent riots in America. Elements of such thinking often appear in other contexts.British women, for instance, including rape victims who drew attention to "Asian" (Pak and South Asian) sex grooming gangs, are also being attacked by the "woke" establishment.
Earlier this month in the UK, Sarah Champion, a Labor politician and MP for Rotherham (the epicenter of sex grooming), was accused of "fanning the flames of racial hatred" and "acting like a neo-fascist ...anybody you disagree with, damn them... murderer." Her crime? She had dared to assert that "Britannia has a problem with British Pak men raping and exploiting white girls."
The same elements accusing Champion of being a "murderer" also characterized the UK's anti-extremism program, Prevent, as being "built upon a foundation of Islamophobia ...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do... and racism."
A few weeks earlier, an article titled, "I was raped by Rotherham grooming gang—now I still face racist abuse online," appeared. In it, a British woman (alias, "Ella") revealed that her Moslem rapists called her "a white whore, a white b***h," during the more than 100 times she was raped in her youth by the Pak grooming gang.
"We need to understand racially and religiously aggravated crime if we are going to prevent it and protect people from it and if we are going to prosecute correctly for it," she said in a recent interview.
"Prevention, protection and prosecution—all of them are being hindered because we are neglecting to properly address the religious and racist aspects of grooming gang crimes.... It's telling them that it's OK to hate white people."
Ella's attempts to highlight the "religious and racist aspects" of her and many other girls' similar abuse led only to "a lot of abuse from far-left krazed killers, and radical feminist academics," she said. Such groups "go online and they try to resist anyone they consider to be a Nazi, racist, fascist or white supremacist".
"They don't care about anti-white racism, because they appear to believe that it doesn't exist. They have tried to floor me and criticise me continually and this has been going on for a couple of months. They tried to shut me down, shut me up ... I've never experienced such hate online in my life. They accuse me of 'advocating for white paedophiles' and being a 'sinister demonic entity.'"
Placing the blame -- or at least responsibility -- on the victim is not limited to the UK. According to an August 9, 2019 report, "in the Swedish city of Uppsala ... four women were raped in as many days." Although police failed to issue descriptions of the rapists -- usually a sure sign of their origins -- they did issue warnings for women to "think how they behave," to "think ahead," and not "go out alone."
Advice against alcohol, drugs, and reckless behavior would be more compelling if it were not made under duress.
After mobs of Moslemmigrants colonists sexually assaulted as many as a thousand women on New Year's Eve 2016 in Cologne ...the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth populated city in Germany.... , Germany, the city's mayor, Henriette Reker, called on women to "be better prepared, especially with the Cologne carnival coming up. For this, we will publish online guidelines that these young women can read through to prepare themselves."
In Austria, after a 20-year-old woman waiting at a bus stop in Vienna was attacked, beaten and robbed by four Moslem men -- including one who "started [by] putting his hands through my hair and made it clear that in his cultural background there were hardly any blonde women" -- police responded by telling the victim to dye her hair.
"At first I was scared, but now I'm more angry than anything. After the attack they told me that women shouldn't be alone on the streets after 8pm. And they also gave me other advice, telling me I should dye my hair dark and also not dress in such a provocative way. Indirectly that means I was partly to blame for what happened to me. That is a massive insult."

After mobs of Moslem migrants colonists sexually assaulted as many as a thousand women on New Year's Eve 2016 in Cologne
Which was never covered by the pro-jihadist liberal media. Making some people think this never, hasn't and still isn't going on. 1,000s of rape victims completely covered up.
Keeping normal humans ignorant to protect Muhammad's Koranic tradition of rape as a reward for his terrorist Islamic hordes.

Kind of strange that 2016 (year of big influx of "immigrants", right?) was the one and only year and one and only New Year's Eve that we've heard about "as many as 1000 women" being assaulted...and only in Cologne, not in other big, German cities. Just sayin'.
Nonetheless, reports of assaults were kaboshed on orders of the politicians there. Disgusting as it is not surprising.
[Al Ahram] US President Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... warned Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... on Wednesday against executing three people allegedly involved in protests in November 2019.
"Three individuals were sentenced to death in Iran for participating in protests," he tweeted. "The execution is expected momentarily. Executing these three people sends a terrible signal to the world and should not be done!"
Iran's judiciary said Tuesday that a court had upheld the death sentence ...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead... s for criminal actions during protests last November sparked by a hike in petrol prices.
Reformist Shargh newspaper named the three as Amirhossein Moradi, a 26-year-old who worked at a cellphone retailer; Said Tamjidi, a 28-year-old student; and Mohammad Rajabi, also 26.
Iran has blamed last year's violence on "thugs" backed by its foes the United States, Israel and Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... The demonstrations erupted after authorities more than doubled fuel prices overnight, exacerbating economic hardships in the sanctions-hit country.
Petrol pumps were torched, cop shoppes attacked and shops looted, before security forces stepped in amid a near-total internet blackout.
A senior Iranian politician said in June that 230 were killed and thousands injured during the protests.
The United States has claimed that more than 1,000 were killed.

As I understand, a taser has two modes: one where it fires an electric harpoon trailing wires, and a second one (Drive Mode?) where you use the protruding electrodes to repeatedly deliver a shock directly.

^Now Rob, based on your experience of human nature, what do you think?
[PJMedia] We have been told repeatedly by health experts to demonstrate the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine and the other meds prescribed with it we need strict clinical trials. These are studies where some patients receive medication, and some do not. For many healthcare providers, this is a noxious thought if there is evidence to believe a treatment may work.
How do you ethically deny a potential treatment to an eligible patient to conduct a study? So-called double-blind studies described above are the preferred method advocated by Dr. Fauci. These double-blind studies allow people to die in the name of “science” if a drug is effective. They are in the “control group.”
There are ethical issues with this approach that researches at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center addressed with a new concurrent trial based on machine learning developed following the H1N1 pandemic. This method has been ignored by the NIH and FDA approval processes.
Such was the fate of the hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, and zinc combination. Scientifically there was every reason to believe it would work. Clinically, doctors saw results when directly treating patients. Several recommended that the drug be produced in sufficient amounts and given early and outpatient.
President Trump expressed optimism based on studies in France and China, and the media freaked out. The president’s political opposition would go on to cling to any proof the drug would not work and suppress any information that it would. This politicization culminated in the horrific study published by Lancet that the publication quietly retracted.
However, the damage was already done. The World Health Organization suspended trials immediately after the study published in Lancet. Switzerland, which had been using the treatment, prohibited the use of the drug in COVID-19 shortly after that on May 27th. The retraction was so stealth that the ban was not lifted in Switzerland until June 11th.
This window allowed French researchers to analyze what happened in the entire population of COVID-19 patients during the ban. They used the case fatality rate (CFR) as the measure observed. The graph is stunning.
It also the only period where the Swiss CFR approached or exceeded that in France where there has been no use of hydroxychloroquine outside a few isolated trials.
The CFR returned to the highest level it had been since early in the pandemic at over 15%. Upon resumption of treatment with hydroxychloroquine, it returned to below 5%. A statistical analysis of the data:
A statistically significant difference
For those who are not convinced of the observational result, we conducted a statistical difference test by comparing the three periods: May 28th – June 8th, June 9th – 22nd, June 23rd – July 6th . The period from June 9th till the 22nd is that in which the index increased some 13 days after the suspension of hydroxychloroquine. There is of course an effect of delay between stopping the prescription of the drug and possible deaths, which explains the delay of 13 days.
We therefore observe that for the period from the 28th of May till the 8th of June, the index is 2.39% and then drops to 11.52% or 4.8 times more and then drops to 3%.
When testing for statistical significance between the various observations, the difference is significant at 99% with a p <0.0001. 13 days after the HCQ prescription was resumed, the index dropped to 3% and this was again a significant effect.
For those who have forgotten statistics, a p-value of 0.05 or less indicates statistical significance. If the graph is not convincing, a confidence interval of 99% in a statistical analysis based on full population data should be.
Between this information and a study published by researchers in India, it is time for the media to do a mea culpa. Their hysteria convinced politicians in the United States to ban or restrict the drug.

[Al Ahram] Defence officials in Armenia and Azerbaijan said fighting on their border subsided on Wednesday after several days of deadly festivities raised fears of a major flare-up.
At least 16 people on both sides were killed in three days of shelling that started Sunday between the ex-Soviet republics, which have been locked for decades in a conflict over Azerbaijan's separatist region of Nagorny Karabakh.
The territory was seized by ethnic Armenian separatists in a 1990s war that claimed 30,000 lives, though this week's fighting took place on the countries' northern border, far from Karabakh.
Armenian defence ministry spokeswoman Sushan Stepanyan said Wednesday that the situation was "calm overnight," while the foreign ministry said festivities had stopped during the night.
Azerbaijan's defence ministry said that "military action halted at midnight" and the lull in fighting continued throughout the day Wednesday.
Eleven Azerbaijan troops and one civilian were killed in the festivities, as well as four Armenian troops, the countries said.
The fighting prompted calls for an immediate de-escalation from the United States, European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and regional power broker Russia.
Azerbaijan's ally, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor... -- which competes with Russia for the geopolitical influence in the Caucasus region -- backed Baku, vowing to "stand by Azerbaijan in its struggle to protect its territorial integrity."
Armenia's foreign ministry slammed the comments saying Turkey's "provocative and biased stance" threatened hopes for peace.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has blamed Azerbaijan for initiating the military flare up.
On Wednesday, however, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accused Armenia of an "act of aggression" in a letter to his Ottoman Turkish counterpart His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly... , confirmed on Tuesday that it has taken proactive steps in securing its territory and the Jafra-Sirte air safety zone.According to the Russian website, Sputnik, a major step had been taken along the eastern border areas with Egypt, as the LNA has deployed the advanced S-300 air defense systems to the region.
The Sputnik report claimed that the Libyan National Army has deployed S-300 systems in the eastern border region with Egypt to prevent any attacks on its territories.
The publication’s sources indicated that the S-300 air defense system is already in the presence of the army in Libya.
The deployment of these systems came with the aim of protecting Libyan lands from Ottoman Turkish aircraft that were obtained by the Government of National Accord (GNA), which are supported by the Ottoman Turkish military.
It should be noted that the Libyan National Army has yet to issue an official statement about the possession of these air defense systems.
While the LNA has been observed using the Russian-made Pantsir-S1 system, the S-300 has not been seen in the arsenal of the Libyan National Army.

The project features, among others, GOP political strategists Rick Wilson, Steve Schmidt, the Washington Post’s "conservative" columnist Jennifer Rubin, former "Weekly Standard" editor Bill Kristol, and disgruntled attorney, George "Mr. Kellyanne" Conway, who spends nearly all of his time trying to ruin his wife’s White House career.
In her new book, Disloyal Opposition: How the NeverTrump Right Tried―And Failed―To Take Down the President, news hound Julie Kelly looks into this group of out of work and out of favor politicos — left on the sidelines after a Trump 2016 victory. She wonders how they got the money to begin their political monkeywrenching operation against Trump after the Weekly Standard, a reliable home for the "Resistance®," went bust.
Kelly assembled the pieces of the Kristol and company money machine puzzle and winds up with a picture of a Silicon Valley billionaire. She depicts the relationship as one of basically paymaster and servant.
Kristol and most of his NeverTrump cohorts are on the dole of a left-wing philanthropist generously underwriting any cause or influencer committed to ending the Trump presidency. This billionaire benefactor has tried to stop Trump since 2016; he’s buying off so-called conservatives to create the illusion of broad intra-party disgust with Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... , an illusion that does not exist but that NeverTrump is paid — handsomely — to represent.
Pierre Omidyar is a very rich man.
Kelly reports that Omidyar is the founder of eBay and the publisher of "The Intercept." He was a billionaire at the age of 31 and is throwing around his money like his idol, George Soros ...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
The tech titan runs an extensive operation of nonprofits through the Omidyar Network, based in Silicon Valley. In 2017 alone, his foundation donated roughly $85 million to a variety of causes around the world. As one would expect from a Bay-area billionaire, Omidyar is anything but conservative. He, along with like-minded tycoons such as George Soros and Tom Steyer, promotes a far-left radical agenda.
Kelly reports that Kristol and other Trump haters have created or run several groups, including Defending Democracy Together and the Niskanen Center, which also receives Soros funding and which is full of well known Republicans.
Niskanen houses a who’s who of NeverTrumpers. Gabe Schoenfeld, author of a hit piece on Victor Davis Hanson, and writer Linda Chavez are senior fellows. Its advisory board includes Egg McMuffin Evan McMullin,
...I’d been wondering what he was doing with his clever self...
Mindy Finn, David Frum and Tom Nichols. In December 2018, Niskanen hosted a daylong seminar entitled ’Starting Over: The Center-Right After Trump’. Panelists included conservatives-turned-lefties Jennifer Rubin, David Frum and Bill Kristol.
ANTI-TRUMP TROLLING FOR DOLLARS
Rick Wilson announced that the anti-Trump group raised nearly $17 million to this quarter to continue their Trump hate programs. And now they’re working to get rid of Republican Senators, just like the Democrats.
Consider this group a force-multiplier for the Democrats.
The Never-Trumpers are making a splash this week after apparently orchestrating the outrageous USA Today "fact" check that floated the idea that the American eagle used on a Trump t-shirt was a Nazi symbol. That’s right, an American eagle. Worse, as I reported here, the people who "first noticed" the "similarity" were an antifa murderous Moslem in one Facebook post and — wait for it — "The Lincoln Project." That troll dove-tailed with a laudatory Washington Post story and several others predicting that the group of Trump haters would be a force to be reckoned with this election. So it looks like that billionaire money is paying off in free media.
After a video of Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson being humiliated in an interview on “Inside the Hill” began circulating Twitter yesterday, Mike Cernovich pointed out that the group’s other co-founder John Weaver is a registered foreign agent for Russia.
Weaver’s registering as a foreign agent was reported by Politico in May of 2019.
Weaver later cancelled the contract when it was made public and reported on.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The southern and western Idlib fronts witnessed a series of air and ground strikes focused on the locations, headquarters and mechanisms of the jihadist groups responsible for the attack on the Ottoman Turkish-Russian patrol on Tuesday.According to a field report from Idlib, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), with help from Russian reconnaissance planes, unleashed a heavy attack on the jihadist rebel positions in several locations inside this northwestern Syria governorate.
The field report said that Syrian ground and air troops specifically targeted the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS) and the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) in the towns of Ariha, Benin, and al-Bara’a, inflicting heavy casualties within the ranks of these turban groups.
Meanwhile, ...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke... in the northeastern region of the Latakia Governorate, both the Russian and Syrian air forces carried out a series of Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s over the jihadist stronghold of Kabani.
These raids, according to a Sputnik Arabic field source, caused more than 30 casualties within the ranks of these jihadist groups.
Earlier in the day, the Russian Center for Reconciliation announced that a terrorist group targeted by a Russian military vehicle during a joint patrol with the Ottoman Turkish army in Syria.
The center issued a statement saying that the earth-shattering kaboom targeting the joint Russian-Ottoman Turkish patrol in Syria is the work of murderous Moslems located in the Syrian city of Idlib.
The statement indicated that after the incident, all joint military patrols were stopped and the competent authorities are investigating to find out the details of the terrorist act and those involved in it.

[NBCNEWS] A House member from Kansas was slapped with voting fraud charges Tuesday about a half-hour before he took the stage in a Republican primary debate.
"I haven't done anything wrong," Rep. Steve Watkins said in the debate, sponsored by NBC affiliate KSNT of Topeka, calling the timing of the charges "very suspicious" and "highly political."
"I look forward to clearing my name. I have done nothing wrong and look forward to setting the record straight," he said.
Watkins said he hadn't yet seen the charges, which Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay announced shortly before Watkins' debate against his two challengers, Kansas media reported.
"This is clearly hyperpolitical," Watkins said.
The first question of the night, posed to all three challengers, was: "What is your response to the charges?"
Watkins, who was hit with three felony charges and a misdemeanor count, is accused of having used a Topeka UPS store as his registration address for the 2019 local city and school board election and voting in the wrong City Council district.
Watkins later listed the address for an apartment complex about 2 miles north of the UPS store as his residence, then corrected his voter registration form in mid-January to list an apartment number.
"As soon as I realized that I had put my mailing address instead of my physical address, we fixed it," Watkins said at the debate, adding that he'd cooperated with the DA's investigation.
“The science is settled... until it’s unsettled again.”
[USATODAY] The universe is about 13.8 billion years old, according to new research recently published by an international team of astrophysicists. While this estimate of the age of the universe had been known before, in recent years, other scientific measurements had suggested instead that the universe may be hundreds of millions of years younger than this.
The scientists studied an image of the oldest light in the universe to confirm its age of 13.8 billion years.
This light, the "afterglow" of the Big Bang, is known as the cosmic microwave background and marks a time 380,000 years after the universe’s birth when protons and electrons joined to form the first atoms.

Can someone explain the geometry to me? That 'light' left the point of origin 13.8 billion years ago at the speed of light. All the matter that makes up the universe, that has includes us, hasn't been traveling at the speed of light from the same location. Now we look 'back' and see this afterglow. Somehow the speed, angles, and present location don't add up. Asking for a friend.
[CBSNEWS] The statue of a slave trader that was torn down and thrown into a river last month in Bristol, England, was replaced overnight by a sculpture of a Black Lives Matter protester with a fist raised to the sky. The new statue of Jen Reid, who helped pull down the statue of 17th-century merchant Edward Colston in June and was photographed in the same pose, was secretly installed by the team of artist Marc Quinn at dawn on Wednesday.
A cardboard sign saying "Black lives still matter" was placed beneath the work, which the artist titled "A surge of power (Jen Reid) 2020."
The city of Bristol has not yet officially decided what to do with the plinth on which Colston's statue previously stood, and it was unclear Wednesday how long the new statue might remain in the spot. In a statement, Bristol's mayor, Marvin Rees, said that the installation had been put up without permission.

[WSBTV] ALLENHURST, Ga. — Call it a case of mistaken identity. But an eastern Georgia sheriff’s detective said he had never seen anything like it before. A body found by the side of railroad tracks on Tuesday was actually a sex doll, WSAV reported, and authorities believe they might have been set up by a prankster. But it seems she had been raped.
Liberty County Sheriff Detective Mike Albritton said officers found the body in Allenhurst at about 2 p.m., the television station reported. "What's that, over there, Clancy?"
"Looks like a body, Muldoon!"
Adhering to a policy that prevents law enforcement officers from touching a deceased person until a coroner arrives, the officers placed a sheet over the body and waited, WSAV reported. "Don't look, O'Reilly!"
"Why can't I if you did, O'Connor?"
When the coroner arrived, detectives began checking for injuries and realized the body was a female sex doll, the television station reported. The doll was fully dressed and appeared to be anatomically correct officials said. "But... but she'd been raped, Flannigan!"
"Oh, shuddup!"
The investigation was quickly called off, authorities said. "But Chief! I think there's more to this..."
"Shuddup. Where're the donuts?"

At least four officers - including the city’s highest ranking uniformed cop, Chief of Department Terence Monahan - were hurt and 37 were arrested
In surveillance footage a protester is seen swinging a long object down at the heads of a group of officers from a walkway as they attempt to arrest someone
Photos of the aftermath showed a lieutenant with a bloodied face, a detective holding a bandage to his head, and an officer helping another to dress a wound
Monahan meanwhile, who is seen the video dressed in a white shirt, also suffered a head wound and fractured his finger in the scuffle
The Chief of Department was one of several NYPD officials lauded last month for taking a knee with demonstrators in the city on June 1
He and the other injured officers were marching with a pro-police group led by local clergy when they were met on the bridge by anti-police activists
In a longer clip of the clash obtained by DailyMail.com, an all-out brawl is seen erupting between a dozen protesters and group of NYPD bike patrol officers
Mayor Bill de Blasio, who earlier this month slashed NYPD funding by $1Bn, has yet to speak about the incident, despite being active on social media

BLM looks at taking a knee not as solidarity but as surrender. This unity march or whatever it was supposed to be was not in keeping with their status as surrendered combatants, so BLM explained it to them.

[JustJared.com] The 39-year-old star, who was fired from ViacomCBS for anti-Semitic commentary, took to Facebook on Wednesday (July 15) to defend himself against the allegation that he "promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories." His anti-Gentile white remarks were apparently not a problem, though.
Those count as generally hateful speech.
He demanded "full ownership of my billion dollar Wild ’N Out brand that I created," asking for an end to "the hate and back door bullying" — and an apology.
"I am deeply saddened in a moment so close to reconciliation that the powers that be, misused an important moment for us to all grow closer together and learn more about one another. Instead the moment was stolen and highjacked to make an example of an outspoken black man," he said.
[ALMASDARNEWS] On Wednesday, a kaboom occurred in an ammunition depot belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the city of Hasakah.
According to reports, the earth-shattering kaboom, which occurred in warehouse behind al-Hasakah Gin, was caused by high temperature.
Locals reported that the ammunition depot was located near the Musherifah neighborhood, in the northwestern part of the city.
The SDF has since imposed a security cordon and closed all roads leading to the site of the earth-shattering kaboom in the neighborhoods of al-Nasariyah, al-Baitrah, al-Hayashiya and al-Musherifah, while hearing the sounds of ambulances that went to the site of the earth-shattering kaboom.
The explosion took place in the downtown’s Mesherfeh neighborhood, according to the Rojava Information Centre.
Barakat told Rudaw English that it is not clear whether the depot belongs to Kurdish security forces (Asayesh) or the SDF as their facilities are in close proximity.

If you do nothing else today, click on the article and scroll down to the first photos, Dad and uh, Man-Man. I don't think a verbal defense necessary.
We seem to have a fair share these perverts on the county missing persons lists.
Don't know about now, but when I was a kid (late 50's early 60's)the male family members usually took these perverts out to the Savannah River Swamp just off Lover Lane Levee rd. Stripped them butt naked and made them wade out into the waist deep or better swamp where they either met the water moccasins, snapping turtles, a gator or got lucky, and quickly disappeared from the community.
We need to also note: It seems this 14 year female gave this pervert her address, open doors and windows and invited him in to their home.

Let us understand US Citizens Constitutional Rights are being violated and the Liberal-Socialist-Democrat Mayors and Governors are sitting with their thumbs (an likely other foreign objects)up their dark place.
They goal is to likely try to goad Trump into something that looks like a Federal Clamp down so they can twist the hell out of it to depict him as a dictator all before Nov. 2020.

I've said repeatedly that the way to stop the rioting is to make those rioting pay a heavy price. A couple of Ma-Deuce, or a couple of Bradleys with their mini-guns, would change the entire equation. These people are making war against the US. They should pay the price for their behavior

/\ One 5-10 rounds of 00 Buck from a Remington 870. They'd all go home. Please televise the dead and wounded. Why does treasonous, leftest behavior continue to be tolerated ?

My (Home) Winchester Defender has 7 shell capacity, short 18" barrel and pistol grip. I'll live or die by that with .00. Easy reload, so extended action is unlikely. In my rural SD neighborhood, the ethnic neighbors will likely be with me, many are MCAS Miramar Marines. Good Peeps :-)

[Al Ahram] The regime of Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important... turned the Hagia Sophia, the Church of the Holy Wisdom in Istanbul, the most iconic church of the Orthodox Christian world, into a mosque last weekend.

I seem to recall that part of the Jihad is to turn infidels' religious and cultural landmarks into mosques as a symbol of their subjugation. Much about this when they tried to build a mosque or mosque-like structure at the site of the Twin Towers.

I think it's time to do two things:
1) Kick Turkey out of NATO.
2) Remove all US personnel from Turkey, including all but one diplomat. That diplomat should be instructed say "I know nothing. . . NOTHING!" to every question asked.

[FoxNews] The coronavirus has claimed the life of an Ohio Army veteran who said before his death on Facebook that he refused to wear a face mask.
Richard Rose III, 37, of Port Clinton, died on July 4 of complications related to the novel coronavirus, according to an online obituary.
His death comes after his April 28 post where Rose said he refused to purchase a face mask amid the pandemic despite expert recommendations to do so.
“Let [me] make this clear,” Rose wrote. “I’m not buying a f—ing mask. I’ve made it this far by not buying into that damn hype.”
You pays your money and you takes your chances. No way of knowing whether the exposure occurred while not wearing a mask.
It’s not clear if Rose suffered from any underlying health issues.
That, too.We know some factors that increase susceptibility, but no doubt not all of them.
According to his obituary, Rose served in the Army for nine years, serving two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“He enjoyed social media, online streaming, paranormal and his two cats Dale and Tucker. He was a fan of NASCAR, Dirt Track Racing, and Georgia Bulldogs Football,” it reads.

but we will dig through his social media, find a statement he made and then insinuate that is the reason he died.

In Ohio mask wearing is about 50-50. Chances are pretty good someone who wore a mask gave him the virus.
The CDC doesn't recommend masks or 6' social distancing anyway. The cloth many people us to cover their face is ineffective anyway. Paper masks are useless.
(r), it's sad you wish death on others who don't see things the way you do. You post it nearly daily.

It's all about the odds. Wearing a mask slants the odds in your favor, but there are no guarantees, other than sooner or later, something will kill you.

Yes, Skid. The mask protects the patient from the surgeon. When doctors are worried about contamination from the patient, they wear higher levels of PPE like a face shield and goggles. And they don’t touch their masks ever. Everyone walking around with their masks on are constantly touching, pulling, adjusting their masks. Ripe for increasing contamination from hands to mask and from mask to other surfaces. I’d argue that millions of untrained and undisciplined people wearing marginally effective at best masks actually increases the spread.

I wish they gave half as much attention to Grandma Killer Cuomo as they do to people who flaunt their opposition to guidance or boast about how brave and "immune" they are.

No, Grom. The lockdown is not the only answer. It wasn’t an answer at all. It did nothing except for it’s one intended effect. Kill the economy. Leave Trump dead in the water on the one thing absolutely everyone agreed on or at least could not dispute about him. The economy was great.
The answer is to do what we’ve always done for these types of infections. Sanitize things, wash hands regularly, don’t pick your nose-rub eyes-suck thumbs, cough/sneeze into your shirt or elbow. If you are sick, stay home. If you absolutely have to go out while sick, wear a mask. They do help a little in hindering the droplets expelled when coughing/sneezing. Otherwise go about your life. And let others go about theirs.
We can’t be asked to never catch a cold or the flu ever again. We can’t be asked to never ever contract Corona. If it was really that bad then there would be no exceptions to the mandates. Protesting to go back to work and reopen businesses? Evil. Pure Evil. blm/antifa rioters and insurrectionists? Noble and just. Corona isn’t Ebola. It’s a disease that 99.9% have to be tested to find out if they’ve even had it.
Yes there are deaths from it. But we can’t trust that every one was because of it. We can’t trust any of the “Experts.” I doubt we will ever again. Too many agendas to push. If you wish to wear a mask at all times, that’s perfectly fine with me. But don’t drop your groceries and point at me like Donald Sutherland at the end of Invasion of the Body Snatchers because I’m not wearing one.

Aseptic techniques work for you foreigners too. Frankly, I don’t really give a shit what other countries do. Go hide under your bed for the rest of your life for all I care. Just don’t expect me to.
[FoxNews] Some homeless people in Fort Lauderdale who have been living in motels for three months as a part of citywide efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus are reportedly refusing to leave if the state cannot come up with the funding to extend the program that’s kept them off the streets.
Fort Lauderdale began distributing motel vouchers in late April to house the homeless during the pandemic.
Mayor Dean Trantalis said Sunday that funding to keep the voucher program in place has run out, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. A city memo said the more than 60 people at the Rodeway Inn and Suites on State Road 84 in Dania Beach must vacate their rooms by 11 a.m. Monday.
By Sunday evening, Trantalis told the newspaper that City Manager Chris Lagerbloom was able to contact Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office, which reportedly agreed to give Rodeway Inn and Suites the funding sometime this week to keep the homeless guests in motel rooms as cases in the state spike at record highs.
Alexis Butler, an organizer with Fort Lauderdale’s Food Not Bombs, which hands out meals every week at Stranahan Park, said she’s skeptical the state funding will come in time to prevent evictions.
“A good chunk of the homeless may refuse to leave, and we’re going to assist in any way they want to proceed,” Butler said Sunday night. “They keep saying they have funding, but nothing is happening.”
“We’ve got four pregnant women, a blind person, and someone with stage 2 cancer,” she continued. “One man got so stressed out today about having to leave that he had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. We don’t know his current condition.”
Fort Lauderdale initially planned to use $500,000 in federal grants to pay for the first set of rooms for 60 days.
In May, Fort Lauderdale asked Broward County if other cities would help foot the bill for rooms, meals, and case management workers overseeing the hotel voucher program. In addition to the motel in Dania Beach, Trantalis also moved to house more than 100 homeless at an Extended Stay America motel within Fort Lauderdale city limits, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

He was injured after getting between his younger sister and a charging dog
Ordeal was revealed in an Instagram post from his aunt Nicole Walker

'I'd also like to mention here that the dog's owners are really great people who have been nothing but kind to Bridger and his family,' Ms Walker posted
The aunt said some people asked if there was a GoFundMe page for Bridger
She instead asked that people donate to military veteran groups and send photos of rocks to Bridger because he loves geology
Check out the article. Lots of pics following the text, though the whole episode is very disturbing.
[gCaptain]The fire on board the U.S. Navy’s USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) continued to burn for a third straight day on Tuesday as firefighters battled to get the blaze under control.
According to a Tuesday afternoon update from Rear Adm. Philip Sobeck, Commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 3, the ship is currently stable and the structure itself remains safe. However, fire is still active and continues to be fought from both within and outside the ship from multiple access points.
“First, we have investigated the four main engineering spaces and found no major damage. There is no threat to the fuel tanks, which is well-below any active fires or heat sources,” said Rear Adm. Sobeck.
“HSC 3 helicopters have conducted more than 1,000 helicopter water bucket drops, which is cooling the super structure and flight deck enabling fire crews to get onboard internally to fight the fire. Tugs are also provide firefighting support from the waterline. I’m proud of the toughness of the Sailors and Federal Firefighters for making this significant progress possible,” Sobeck added.
As it stands currently, 61 personnel, including 38 U.S. Navy Sailors and 23 civilians, have been treated for minor injuries including heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. None of the personnel are hospitalized at this time.
“Going forward, the Navy will do a thorough investigation of the incident to include assessing the cause of the fire and damage to the ship, but right now our focus remains on putting out the fire and keeping people safe,” said Sobeck. “I’d like to also thank our partners from state and county as well as the Coast Guard for monitoring the potential impacts to the environment. As we continue to fight the fire, we remain cognizant of environmental concerns regarding the water and air quality.
Sailors first reported a fire aboard the wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) while it was moored pier side at Naval Base San Diego on Saturday, July 12, at approximately 11:30 a.m. eastern daylight time. At approximately 4:00 p.m. the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) and USS Russell (DDG 59) shifted berths to a pier further away from the fire.
Firefighting has been led by the Federal Fire Department San Diego and mor e400 Sailors from 12 San Diego-based ships. The U.S.Coast Guard is assessing environmental damage and pollution prevention.
Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron THREE (HSC 3) has conducted more than 1,200 helicopter water bucket drops, which is cooling the super structure and flight deck to allow fire crews to get onboard to fight the fire. Tugs are also providing firefighting support from the waterline.
Update July 15:
As of 9:00 a.m. EDT July 15, firefighting teams continue operations on board USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), 63 personnel, 40 Sailors and 23 civilians, have been treated for minor injuries including heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation. Currently, there are no personnel hospitalized. Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3 has conducted more than 1,500 helicopter water bucket drops, which are cooling the super-structure and flight deck, enabling fire crews to get onboard to fight the fire internally.
Photos published by the Navy show the extent of the damage observed so far: [click link for entire article with pics]
Officials believe the fire was started by drywall supplies in a storage area in the lower half of the ship accelerated by maintenance supplies such as cardboard boxes and rags.

Drywall supplies just don’t seem to have that spontaneous combustion problem, so what was the actual cause? This just cost the taxpayers over a billion dollars so someone should be responsible for what happened? Something stinks here.
[SEATTLETIMES] A 35-year-old man who was shot Sunday night in Seattle’s University District has died, police said Wednesday.
The shooting was reported about 8:20 p.m. in the 4700 block of 17th Avenue Northeast. Arriving officers found a man who said he "had just shot a man who attempted to attack him in a parking lot," according to Seattle police.
The victim was unresponsive and was taken to Harborview Medical Center. The suspect, 43, was arrested for investigation of assault.
The suspect has been rebooked into the King County Jail for investigation of murder, police said in a tweet.
Justified self defense, quarrel between the unequally armed, something else? I can’t figure it out from the report.

[FoxNews] One of the nation's largest churches located in Georgia announced it will not resume in-person services through the remainder of the year after a surge in coronavirus cases.
Senior Pastor Andy Stanley of the multi-site North Point Community Church in Atlanta, which has a weekly attendance of 30,000-plus, made the announcement Tuesday in a Facebook video message.
"Now as you would imagine, that was not a casual decision," Stanley said. "In fact, back in May when we announced a possible Aug. 9 reopening, the COVID numbers were actually moving in the right direction. That has changed. Consequently, we cannot guarantee your safety, and that is a big part of this decision."
Stanley says the "contact tracing" would be "next to impossible" given the seven locations and how the church operates, and he explained they are looking at what other congregations of similar size are doing.
North Point plans to update its online experience and create a strategy for limited physical gatherings, Patch.com reports.
