Trump administration rescinds rule on foreign students
[Ynet] The Trump administration has rescinded a rule that would have required international students to transfer schools or leave the country if their colleges hold classes entirely online this fall because of the coronavirus pandemic.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the decision as a court hearing was getting underway on a challenge to the rule by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Can Trump Pull a Truman?
[TownHall] - On July 22, 1988, after the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta, the party nominee, Gov. Michael Dukakis, enjoyed a 17-point lead over Vice President George W. Bush.

Five weeks later, on Labor Day, Dukakis was down eight points, the same margin by which he would lose the election. He had lost 25 points in one month.

What had happened? During August, Republican attack groups elevated and relentlessly pounded what might be called Dukakis' Bay State radical liberalism.

...Vice President Bush ended up winning 40 states.

Is this possible today? Because a turnaround of that magnitude appears to be needed by Donald J. Trump.

Over the weekend, the bad news on the virus front turned awful for the country and for Trump.

The number of U.S. citizens dead from the coronavirus hit 135,000. COVID-19 deaths, whose weekly average had been falling since April, began to rise again.

New cases of the infection began appearing in previously unseen numbers across the Sun Belt. Florida set a U.S. record with more than 15,000 new cases in one day.

This surge in infections is occurring as the nation debates whether or not to send its young back to schools. Children, teachers and students could arrive by the millions in classrooms in late summer, only to be sent home in a new shutdown as a second wave of COVID-19 hits this fall.

Were that not enough to concentrate the mind, an economy that last winter was as strong as any in modern history now looks to be in a depression. The good news of the May-June revival could be canceled out by shutdowns mandated by the new infections.

Beyond this, America's racial divide has reopened. The attacks on cops and their demonization in the wake of the killing of George Floyd have led to demoralization, resignations and retirements, and, from there, to an explosion of shootings and killings in major cities.

And we have witnessed the outbreak of a cultural revolution, which holds that as America has, from birth, been a slave-owning society whose policies toward the native-born amounted to cultural and ethnic genocide, the statues of those generations of men who produced such a history should all be pulled down and smashed.

A medical crisis, an economic crisis, and a cultural and social crisis have hit us all at once, raising some fundamental questions.

...Trump is not responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. And the shutdowns that induced today's depression were as much the decisions of governors and mayors as of the president. Yet, he is the one whose fate is tied to the state of the economy in November 2020.

And, politically, Trump is the one paying the price.

...In 1948, Harry Truman looked like a certain loser to Gov. Tom Dewey. So he sent a raft of liberal legislation to the Hill and challenged the Republican Congress to enact it. When Congress airily dismissed his proposals, Truman barnstormed the country, calling on America to help him rid the nation of this "no-good, do-nothing 80th Congress."

Which the country proceeded to do, as it elected Truman and threw out the first Republican Congress to sit since before the Depression.

What the Trump folks must do now is to zero in on Biden's vulnerabilities, personal and political.

First among these is Biden's transparently diminished verbal and mental capacity.

...Second, the Biden campaign has embraced an agenda that is, in part, Bernie Sanders-AOC-Black Lives Matter.

The Trump folks need to force Biden to come out of his basement and either embrace or renounce the radical elements of his agenda. They need to do for Biden what Lee Atwater & Co. did for Dukakis.

#3  Unlike those "paragons" (spit) McStain and Mittens, Trump will not pull any punches down the stretch. It's practically a given the dem VP pick will be a black woman (with maybe a difference, IYKWIMAITYD) and the dems will translate any attack on Joe into an attack on his VP, even if Trump says he's only talking about Joe. But Trump isn't going to let that dishonest ploy stop him.

My patient caught Covid-19 twice. So long to herd immunity hopes?
h/t Hot Air
[Vox] - "Wait. I can catch Covid twice?" my 50-year-old patient asked in disbelief. It was the beginning of July, and he had just tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, for a second time — three months after a previous infection.

While there’s still much we don’t understand about immunity to this new illness, a small but growing number of cases like his suggest the answer is yes.

Covid-19 may also be much worse the second time around.
I wonder, could this explain an increasing number of young people who have a symptomatic covid-19. That is, they've had an asymptomatic one already
During his first infection, my patient experienced a mild cough and sore throat. His second infection, in contrast, was marked by a high fever, shortness of breath, and hypoxia, resulting in multiple trips to the hospital.

Recent reports and conversations with physician colleagues suggest my patient is not alone. Two patients in New Jersey, for instance, appear to have contracted Covid-19 a second time almost two months after fully recovering from their first infection. Daniel Griffin, a physician and researcher at Columbia University in New York, recently described a case of presumed reinfection on the This Week in Virology podcast.

It is possible, but unlikely, that my patient had a single infection that lasted three months. Some Covid-19 patients (now dubbed "long haulers") do appear to suffer persistent infections and symptoms.

My patient, however, cleared his infection — he had two negative PCR tests after his first infection — and felt healthy for nearly six weeks.
Can we have a surprise meter? Because you know, based on our previous experiences with common cold, nobody would expect this in a million years.
So you're admitting it's like the common cold? *snicker*

#8  There does appear to be a meaningful reinfection rate, though it's really hard to say what that might be because the number (7.5-15%) is within the accuracy rate of the tests. In other words, you can explain the entire measured number of reinfections as testing errors.

So, you've to assume that (a) he didn't have cv19 but something else + (b) the test was false positive. That is, product of probabilities. Moreover, he's not the only one.

Joan Swirsky: 'Heads-Up Jewish Americans‐Democrats Are Your Enemies'
[News with Views] Montana has about 1,400 Jews, Mississippi about 1,500, South Dakota 250. If I lived in any one of those beautiful states, I would not be writing this article. But I live in New York——home to about one-million, 800-thousand Jews——so the politics of being Jewish affects me and my family in a very existential——life and death——way.

It’s quite simple for me, as it should be for all Jews, given the fact that in a world of about eight-billion people, we Jews are a miniscule 15 million, only about six-million in the United States, eight-million in Israel, and another one-million around the world. That is equivalent to the proverbial drop in the ocean.

A PRESSING IMPERATIVE
If we Jews and our supporters don’t aggressively address the pandemic of anti-Semitism that is galloping around the globe and exploding here in America, rampant on college campuses, aided and abetted by a craven media that gives credibility to career hate-mongers like Louis Farrakhan and his ilk, and even contaminating the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress——with more floridly hate-Jews/hate-Israel Democrats than ever before in history——then we know from our tragic history that annihilation could be right around the corner.

Sadly the Democrat Party of old——of JFK, Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Senator and VP Walter Mondale, et al——has vanished, replaced by Democrats like "the squad" who spew their poisonous hatred of Jews and Israel from the House of Representatives itself. Then there are those who remain thunderously silent——including elected Democrat Jews like Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, Jerrold Nadler, Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff, Richard Blumenthal, as well Democrat Representatives from Long Island——with a huge Jewish population——Tom Suozzi and Kathleen Rice.

Illinois House of Horrors: Rockford Abortion Clinic's Procedures and Practices
[News With Views] The Northern Illinois Women’s Center’s (NIWC’s) license was suspended but only on a temporary basis by the Democratic Party’s minions at the Illinois Department of Public Health. The suspension was due to multiple medical and health deficiencies which the state’s public health inspectors discovered and cited in successive inspections.

Many believe that the violations were a result of laxity by the IDPH. In fact, this facility, which enjoyed media and political coverups, was the focus of a public health inspection of NIWC only once in the past decade.

"Repeated requests for public records, and medically informed objections were communicated to the Illinois Department of Public Health by a courageous pro-life registered nurse who finally provoked these belated professional inspections that turned up a hornet’s nest of health code violations," according to officials at the Thomas More Society, a public interest pro-life law firm based in Chicago.

"After further review and a public hearing that turned out to be not so public, the politically-motivated IDPH came to an agreement with the Rockford abortion clinic to allow the clinic to re-open. Nearly 14 days later, the NIWC abortion clinic voluntarily turned in its medical license and permanently shut down the notorious abortion clinic," noted the Thomas More lawyers.

They cited the violations that were proof that NIWC abortion clinic was operated in a shoddy, vile and professionally irresponsible manner, including, among others, the following:

  • Use of unsanitized medical instruments;
  • Ambulatory surgical treatment regulation violations that include lack of adequate written procedures for garbage and refuse removal, insect and rodent control, maintenance of water, heat, ventilation and air condition and electrical service;
  • Incomplete patient medical history and physical examination records which should have been generated, compiled before administration of anesthesia and kept on file;
  • No registered nurse present during operations; indeed, none was even employed;
  • Incomplete or incorrect patient clinical documentation;
  • Failure to give post-operative counseling to patients;
  • Improper staff review and training;
  • Improper documentation as to administration and inventory of drugs;

During a telephonic conference call discussing the fate of the clinic, the lawyer for the abortion provider suggested to the Thomas More legal team that he filed a written answer to the State’s charges and was interested in communicating a suggested settlement offer to the State of Illinois.

The attorney for the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) acknowledged the State’s interest in pursuing a settlement, which — if approved —would allow the abortion provider to reopen its doors.

Nearly 14 days later, officials at the NIWC abortion clinic voluntarily turned in its medical license and permanently shut down the notorious abortion clinic," noted the Thomas More lawyers.

We all know what happened that day — or think we do. Floyd was put on the ground. Officer Chauvin kneed his neck. Floyd was yelling he can’t breathe many times. At the time MPD allowed the use of neck restraint for individuals resisting arrest. Only cops can tell you what a nightmare and how dangerous it is trying to deal with either a drunk or someone full of drugs. Floyd was 6’7".

George Floyd was a repeat criminal offender, an ex-con who went to prison for holding a loaded gun up against the stomach of a pregnant woman with the intent to rob. He was also a serious, hard core drug addict. That is not an excuse to kill any individual being questioned by police officers. Everyone in this country is entitled to due process.

A few days ago, the transcript of Officer Thomas Lane’s body camera was finally released. It tells the story in real time of exactly what actually happened before Floyd was kneed on the ground.

George Floyd was resisting arrest, make no mistake about that. Even Floyd’s friend in the car they came to the store in yelled at George to stop resisting. The officers repeatedly tried to get him into the police car while Floyd had a running narrative about how he’s not that kind of man, he loves his mother over and over. He keeps telling the officers not to shoot him and their response was they were not going to shoot him. All they wanted was his cooperation.

George did not want to get in the police car and made that perfectly clear. Early on, Officer Kueng said Floyd was acting erratic. This is consistent with what store employees where the alleged counterfeit bill was presented by Floyd recounted for the police.

American convoy confronted and blocked by Syrian regime army unit in western Hasaka
[Rudaw] A unit from Bashir al-Assad’s Syrian National Army confronted a US military convoy in a village associated with the town of Tal Tamr in Syria's western Hasaka province on Sunday, a Syrian army source told Rudaw’s office in northern Syria.

"A Syrian army unit intercepted and blocked an American convoy today, Saturday, at 1pm," the source said.

"The American convoy was made up of three armored vehicles, which attempted to enter the village, but were forced to return," they added.

A video obtained by Rudaw on Sunday shows a regime force unit aggressively confronting a US convoy in Tal Tamr’s Mansaf Tahtani village, and forcing them to leave the area.

The video shows what appears to be a regime force commander, accompanied by several other soldiers from the Syrian army, challenging a US soldier in the village.

"Come on turn back and leave immediately," the Syrian commander told a US soldier standing by their military vehicle, swatting the soldier away with his hand.

The commander then asks the translator accompanying the US convoy, "what does he want?" and asks him to translate, and says "I swear if they come back here, I will burn all the vehicles with them."

Then the US military vehicles begin to withdraw and leave the area while the members of the regime forces shout "go away".

Rudaw English contacted the spokesperson for the US-led coalition on the matter and is waiting for a response.

This is not the first time Syrian national army units have had confrontations with the US troops in Syria.

In February, an American military convoy came under attack from civilians and militias loyal to Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

Baghdad asks Germany to remove Iraq from EU money laundering and terrorist financing list
[Rudaw] Baghdad asked Germany to remove Iraq from a list of countries noted at high-risk for money laundering and terrorist financing, during a phone call between the foreign ministers of the two countries on Sunday.

Fuad Hussein, Iraqi foreign minister spoke with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, on the phone Sunday, and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, including the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s continued inclusion of Iraq on a list of states prone to suspicious financial movement.

"Minister Fuad Hussein...called for Mr. Heiko Maas to intensify his efforts to remove Iraq from the list of high-risk countries in money laundering and terrorist financing," a statement by the Iraqi foreign ministry published on Sunday reads.

The European Union adopted a list of countries with weak anti-money laundering and forces of Evil financing regimes in February 2019, which included Iraq alongside 22 other countries around the world.

The aim of the list is to protect the European Union’s financial systems by "better preventing money laundering and forces of Evil financial risks," the statement by the European Union commission reads alongside the list.

Iraq has been fighting various terrorist groups over the years, most notably the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. and other large Sunni-majority cities.

Baghdad called on the international community to form a coalition to help fight ISIS in Iraq. At the height of its power between 2014 and 2016, ISIS controlled an area roughly the size of Great Britannia, spread across both Iraq and Syria.

Although the government announced the territorial defeat of ISIS in Iraq in December 2017, remnants of the group have returned to their earlier insurgency tactics, ambushing security forces, kidnapping and executing suspected informants, and extorting money from vulnerable rural populations.

The German government announced in September 2019 that it would extend its mission with the Coalition until October 2020, but reduce its total number of troops across the Middle East from 800 to 700.

Germany has supported Iraq and the Kurdistan Region through non-military means as well. Germany officially handed over the Peshmerga Hospital in Erbil to the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in April. The facility strives to treat members of the Kurdistan Region’s security forces maimed in the ISIS war.

In 2018, Germany invested 90 million euros in water sanitation, sewage, and construction to stabilize Iraq following the defeat of ISIS.

Turkey issues life sentences to three for deadly 2016 Istanbul attack
[Rudaw] Three suspects were handed down life sentences by a Ottoman Turkish court over a 2016 terror attack in Istanbul, which claimed the lives of several coppers and civilians, according to Ottoman Turkish state media.

Shortly after the attack, the miitant group, the Kurdistan Freedom Falcons (TAK), grabbed credit for the attack in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

    's largest city.

Twelve people, including six coppers and six civilians, were killed in the bombing that targeted a police bus.

The Ottoman Turkish court sentenced Eyup Sever and Murat Bal each to 893 years in prison for "violating the constitution" and "premeditated murder", according to state-run media outlet Anadolu Agency.

A third defendant, Gulsah Bahadir, was separately sentenced for the same jail term, also accused of "premeditated murder," Anadolu added.

The July 2016 bombing was one of a spate of attacks that rocked the Ottoman Turkish economic and tourist hub over the year.

The Ottoman Turkish government has blamed the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG) for attacks claimed by the TAK. Both groups, however, deny having any responsibility and deny that they are in any way affiliated with TAK.

    Israel-Palestine-Jordan
In first, Saudi academic publishes paper in Israeli journal
[Jpost] It is unprecedented for a Saudi researcher to choose to publish his article in an Israeli academic journal, in order to bring the two nations closer.

A professor from King Saud University in Riyadh published an article in Hebrew in an Israeli academic journal, which is unprecedented, according to Tel Aviv University.

Prof. Mohammed Ibrahim Alghbban, Head of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization and Hebrew Studies at King Saud University wrote the article in Kesher, the journal of the Shalom Rosenfeld Institute for Research of Jewish Media and Communication at Tel Aviv University.

Prof. Raanan Rein, head of Shalom Rosenfeld Institute, said it is unprecedented for a Saudi researcher to choose to publish his article in an Israeli academic journal, in order to bring the two nations closer.

"I hope that this academic cooperation is another step towards economic and political cooperation," Rein stated.

Kesher’s editor Prof. Gideon Kouts has met Alghbban at academic Hebrew Studies conferences and on a visit to Riyadh in 2015. The Hebrew Studies program Alghbban heads is taught only to male students, and its curriculum includes works by Yosef Haim Brenner, Shmuel Yosef Agnon and Etgar Keret.

Alghbban’s paper comes amid increasing calls in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and other Gulf States for greater cooperation with Jews and Israel to achieve peace. Israel and Gulf States have grown closer in recent years, despite not having diplomatic relations, as they face a common enemy: Iran. But the increased ties have led to partnerships in other fields, such as companies in Israeli and the United Arab Emirates working together on treating coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
The article is titled "Contribution to Prophet Muhammad’s Image Improvement in the Eyes of the Israeli Public: Muhammad’s Alliances and Mail Exchanges with Jews from the Arabian Peninsula," in which Alghbban argues that the prophet had good relations with Jews and his festivities with them were political, not religious.

The Saudi professor said he wrote the article to improve Muhammad’s image among Israelis, which he said is currently based on "erroneous assumptions about the origins of Islam proposed by Oriental Studies researchers, " which "led to a distorted understanding of manuscripts, wrong methodology and negative influences on Hebrew-speaking Middle Eastern Studies researchers."

As such, he translated letters written by Muhammad into Hebrew in his article.

Democrat’s Call to Remove Gettysburg’s Confederate Statues Receives Backlash
Ah, the hallowed fields of Gettysburg, where the Union Army fought a battle with someone or other. Lincoln's Gettysburg Address was 221 Main Street. He was the racist predecessor of Trump, in office when the slaves rose up and freed themselves, when black lives mattered and 600,000 others didn't.
[BREITBART] A Pennsylvania county commissioner recently called for Confederate statues at Gettysburg National Park to be removed, then deleted the online post due to major criticism.

“The only thing I could think of to do was, okay, I’ll just take it down. I actually unpublished my page for a little bit. Next week, I’ll probably bring it back up,” said Adams County Commissioner Marty Qually (D).

Qually claimed he was not trying to erase history but pointed to what happened when counterprotesters showed up at Gettysburg over the Independence Day weekend in response to online rumors about an Antifa flag burning.

Friday, ABC 27 provided screenshots of what appeared to be the commissioner’s since-deleted Facebook post.

    It read:

Today, armed racist morons have come to our community responding to an obvious flag burning hoax. These racists have come to protect the confederate monuments, a made up situation which our local law enforcement had well in hand. They are walking in our community with semi-automatic weapons and confederate flags. Our local law enforcement doesn’t need the expense or the risk.

If this is the cost of having confederate monuments in Gettysburg and if this is the lesson we are to learn, then I’m out of the middle of the road. Take the confederate statues down. Our economy cannot survive a pandemic and a morondemic at the same time.

“We cannot allow our county to become a holiday destination for hate, racism, and false patriotism,” he wrote, adding that among them were “clear white supremacists, Klan members, coming to protect our monuments.”

#6  After killing each other for four bloody years, at the end at Appomattox, the union army received the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia. Gen Joshua Chamberlain was give the duty to receive the defeated army.

For my personal part I…have been in five battles…twice wounded myself—my horse shot—in the front line when the flag of truce came through from Lee—had the last shot + the last man killed, in their campaign; + yesterday was designated to receive the surrender of the arms of Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia.

    ---

Instructions had been given; and when the head of each division column comes opposite our group, our bugle sounds the signal and instantly our whole line from right to left, regiment by regiment in succession, gives the soldier’s salutation, from the “order arms” to the old “carry”— the marching salute. Gordon at the head of the column, riding with heavy spirit and downcast face, catches the sound of shifting arms, looks up, and, taking the meaning, wheels superbly…with profound salutation as he drops the point of his sword to the boot toe; then facing to his own command, gives word for his successive brigades to pass us with the same position of the manual, honor answering honor.

Joshua Chamberlain was a better man.

Joe Biden: America Is Ready for ‘Systemic’ and ‘Institutional’ Changes
[BREITBART] Former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'...
told a select group of news hounds on Monday that he is confident that he will win the election and that America is ready for "systemic" and "institutional" changes that will transform the country.Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin was invited to participate in Biden’s exclusive Zoom call, and reported:

One had the impression that Biden senses the potential for not only a big win but a unique moment akin to the 1930s. "I do think we’ve reached the point where one of those trite phrases everybody uses . . . it’s a real inflection point in American history and I don’t believe it’s unlike what [President Franklin] Roosevelt [faced]." He continued, "I think we have an enormous opportunity to make some really systemic changes relates to racism but institutional ways in which we handle things And I think the country is really ready."

Rubin emphasized that while Biden was also careful to present a more moderate persona to nervous voters, he understood that he "must win and win big so as to throw fear in the Republicans and claim a mandate" for larger changes.

Far from turning toward the center, Biden has shifted increasingly left after securing his party’s nomination.

In May, Biden said that the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague)
...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men...
pandemic was an opportunity to "fundamentally transform" America. In June, Biden called for "revolutionary institutional changes." And on July 4, Biden promised to "transform" America, promising to " rip the roots of systemic racism out of this country."

Israeli research center finds 28 new Hezbollah missile launch sites
Satellite photos with circles and arrows can be seen at the link.
[Jpost] ALMA says never-before-published sites are deep in heart of residential areas in Beirut, next to hospitals, restaurants, schools.

There are at least 28 missile launching sites belonging to Hezbollah in civilian areas in the Lebanese capital of Beirut, a report by ALMA Research and Education Center has found.

The report found that the never-before-published sites concentrated mainly in Hezbollah-dominated areas of Beirut are related to the launch, storage and production of the group’s Fateh 110/M600 medium-range missiles and are "the same as those subject to the Hezbollah precision-guided missile project (PGMs)."

Much of the time, that vengeance is half-hearted and inadequate. But it is a measure of vengeance. In a place like Gaza, there is no alternative to personal vendettas. Apart from which not engaging in these vendettas is an invitation to further attacks on you and yours. It really is a war of all against all over there.

More from the German gov’t domestic intelligence report
[Jpost] The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its Quds Force—a highly specialized unconventional warfare unit in the IRGC- have been active in Germany over the years. The US government has designated the IRGC and the Quds Force foreign terrorist organizations.

    German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
’s administration refused to sanction the IRGC or the Qud Force for terror operations on German soil.

The Jerusalem sent email press queries on Monday to Josef Schuster, the president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, and his spokeswomen Jutta Wagemann.

In 2017, a Berlin court sentenced 31-year-old Pak citizen Mustufa Haidar Syed-Naqfi
...yesterday we wondered who the man was, beyond the facts of his name and arrest in that dreadfully useless Jerusalem Post report. Today we are vouchsafed some information...
to four years and three months in prison for working for Iran’s intelligence service to spy "against Germany and another NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
    member."

Chancellor Merkel, however, did not expel any Iranian diplomats or sanction Iranian officials for Syed-Naqfi 's terror plot on German soil.

According to German prosecutors, Haidar Syed-Naqfi was assigned to identify Israeli and Jewish institutions and Israel advocates in Germany, La Belle France and other unnamed Western European countries for possible attacks. He monitored a German-Jewish newspaper’s headquarters in Berlin and Reinhold Robbe, the former head of the German-Israel Friendship Society.

Haidar Syed-Naqfi spied on French-Israeli business Prof. David Rouach, who teaches at the elite Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Gay Paree and served as head of the French-Israeli Chamber of Commerce, and, according to German authorities, his actions were "a clear indication of an liquidation attempt."

The Quds Force paid Haidar Syed-Naqfi at least €2,052 from July 2015 through July 2016.
So little, and they still did not get their money’s worth.

Iran Months Away From ‘Going Nuclear?’ – Time to End the Iranian Nuclear Program
[andmagazine.com] The implications of that development are catastrophic. A revolutionary, messianic regime, which believes the Mahdi, an Islamic superman, will appear at any moment and that the apocalypse is nigh cannot be trusted with nuclear weapons. It will not husband them and manage them rationally. It will use them.

We are standing on the precipice of a catastrophic event, one which may lead to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East and ultimately to the deaths of tens of millions.

In June of this year, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released two reports on the Iranian nuclear weapons program. They are sobering. Iran is now enriching uranium well beyond the level agreed to in the so-called Iran Deal. It is researching and perhaps building advanced centrifuges. It has resumed enrichment of uranium at its underground nuclear facility in Fordaw.

Iran now has enough low enriched uranium (LEU) to produce a nuclear weapon. Best estimates are that Iran could transform that LEU into the highly enriched uranium (HEU) needed to make a bomb in somewhere between 3 and 4 months. As Iran steadily creeps up the enrichment level of its LEU that timeline shortens by the day.
But what about the recent bombings that supposedly set the progrqm back by two years?
That timeframe is troubling enough, but in reality, the situation could be much, much worse. Iran has been denying international inspectors access to some undeclared sites for months and has never answered questions related to possible undeclared nuclear activities.

The sites in question are known to have been connected to an Iranian crash program in the early 2000’s that had the goal of quickly building five operational nuclear weapons. Those sites may be active again, and there may be an entire portion of the Iranian nuclear weapons program hidden from our view.

#4  Do you believe everything you read?

I’m just a little civilian housewife who has only been to civilized places, Thorong Grundy1520. I put the articles up from Fred-approved sources — I rely on you lot to explain what they really mean.

There is also this article at Strategy Page, which among other topics says,

Along those lines, the chatter coming from Iran is that their nuclear enrichment (turning uranium into weapons grade material) facilities are again suffering massive equipment failures, as in the new centrifuges were apparently hacked, as they were nearly a decade ago by stuxnet. In addition, there have been bombs going off in some of these facilities, indicating Israeli agents were able to gain access and plant explosives. This is particularly disturbing for Iranian leaders because it indicates that Israel is able to recruit agents inside Iran, That’s what happens when a lot of young Iranians are openly angry at their own government.

    What are your thoughts?

#7  I assume we won’t know until long afterward, my dear. Possibly even the Iranians aren’t certain, as it depends among other things on how many spare parts they have lying about or can get shipped in from abroad and how many unacknowledged uranium refinement sites remain hidden and untouched,.. To me “two years” just means somewhat longer than “two months“, but possibly not nearly as long as “ten years“... all of which are rough estimates. The Israelis and those helping them translate that liberated warehouse-full of documents no doubt have a better idea, but they aren’t telling yet. And if Skidmark is right about native talent pitching in...

Govt Data Shows Rise in Taliban Attacks Since Peace Deal
[ToloNews] Data from the countries’ security agencies seen by TOLOnews indicates that Taliban
    ...mindless ferocity in a turban...
attacks have not decreased following the peace deal signed with the US; instead, the figures show an increase in violence by the group.

The data shows the Taliban conducted 5,943 attacks from January 21 to June 17, while Afghan forces--supported by foreign troops--conducted 1,569 operations against the group.

The data, tracked in solar months, shows the Taliban carried out 915 attacks from Jan. 21 to Feb. 19, one month ahead of the peace deal and the reduction in violence week. Afghan forces had 613 operations during this period, according to the data.

But their attacks increased to 1,378 in the following one month — Feb. 19 to March 20--according to the security figures, while Afghan forces had 209 operations during this month, less than what they conducted the previous month.

The data shows that Taliban attacks lessened after March 20, but they were still higher than what was recorded a month ahead of the peace deal. The group conducted 1,250 attacks from March 20 to April 20; 1,271 attacks from April 20 to May 20 and 1,155 attacks from May 20 to June 17.

Afghan forces operations however slightly increased compared to what was recorded between Feb. 19 to March 20. They conducted 261 operations from March 20 to April 20, 293 operations from April 20 to May 20 and 220 operations from May 20 to June 17.

The highest number of Taliban attacks in a week during this period was 511 attacks in the last week of Hoot (March 11 to March 18) while the highest number of the Afghan forces operations in a week during this period was 185 attacks in the third week of Dalwa month of the last solar year (Feb. 4 to Feb. 10), the data shows.

Following the peace deal, in Hamal month of the current solar year (March 20 to April 20), the Taliban conducted 97 attacks in a day, which was the most violent mostly peaceful day in five months.

The Taliban has not commented on the figures provided by security agencies. But a list released by the Taliban on April 19 provided figures of US forces attacks after the peace deal. The Taliban list showed that 33 air raids and dronezaps were conducted in 19 provinces against the group from March 9 to April 10.

In response to the Taliban data, the top US general in Afghanistan, Gen Scott Miller, in a statement said, "all sides, but especially the Taliban, must reduce violence to allow the political process to take hold."

He’ll probably turn out to be off his meds or self-medicating. But for some reason this insistence that Jesus is black, as opposed to a normally suntanned Middle Easterner, has become weaponized discourse on the Left — presumably because they believe all conservatives are innately racist and will therefore be upset by the claim.

Mueller writes op-ed to defend his investigation of Roger Stone: ‘He remains a convicted felon’
[BIZPACREVIEW] Former special counsel Robert Mueller defended his investigation of Roger Stone on Saturday after President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
commuted the prison sentence for his longtime friend."We made every decision in Stone’s case, as in all our cases, based solely on the facts and the law and in accordance with the rule of law," Mueller wrote in an op-ed at The Washington Post.
Consensus is that someone put his name as "author", but it was Weissman and one or more of his Lawfare assholes that did the work, just as he couldn't even speak cogently about the "Mueller Report"
"The women and men who conducted these investigations and prosecutions acted with the highest integrity," he continued. "Claims to the contrary are false."

"The Russia investigation was of paramount importance. Stone was prosecuted and convicted because he committed federal crimes. He remains a convicted felon, and rightly so," Mueller added.

Trump commuted Stone’s prison sentence on Friday, days before he was set to begin a 40-month stint at a federal prison in Georgia.

Stone, 67, was convicted on Nov. 15 on charges that he made false statements to Congress about his discussions related to WikiLeaks, the group that released emails hacked from Democrats during the 2016 campaign. Stone was also convicted on a charge of obstructing a congressional investigation and witness tampering.

CNN’s Jeff Zucker Announces ‘New and Expanded Race Team’
    [BREITBART] CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
’s Jeff Zucker on Monday sent out a memo announcing a "new and expanded race team" as part of the network’s broader effort to ensure race coverage remains a "permanent part of our journalism."

The CNN Worldwide president sent a memo to staff on Monday detailing the "new and expanded" race team, which he said will ensure that race coverage continues to be a permanent part of their newsroom.

Zucker praised CNN’s past coverage, describing it as "powerful" and "emotional" and crediting it with helping to "shed a light on the growing movement against institutional racism."

"Today, I am pleased to announce that we are making an even more significant, sustained commitment to ensure race coverage is a permanent part of our journalism," he said in the memo, obtained by TVNewser.

"Many talented journalists around the organization work on or around race," he continued, praising Sara Sidner, Mallory Simon, John Blake, Abby Phillip, and Brandon Tensley, and "dozens of CNN journalists who regularly report out stories on this beat across Digital, Newsgathering, our contributors, and beyond."

"Race touches every aspect of our lives, and therefore every area of our coverage," he said. "That work will continue. It must."

"In that spirit, we are pleased to share the news of a new and expanded race team, which will contribute to all CNN platforms," he announced.

"This team will build on what so many do already at CNN and will provide the needed structure to cover this beat with more focus and force," he continued.

Somalia's army chief survives bombing of his convoy; 1 dead
[Al Ahram] Somalia's army chief has survived an liquidation attempt when a suicide boom-mobileer targeted his convoy in the Somali capital Monday, officials said. At least one person was killed by the blast, they said. The blast took place when the bomber tried to ram his vehicle into the convoy escorting Gen. Odowa Yusuf Rage bringing his bodyguards to open fire and the vehicle detonated, said Capt.

Mohammed Hussein, a senior Somali police officer. A pedestrian standing nearby was killed by the blast, as well as the bomber, he said.

Several people including some of the army chief's bodyguards were maimed, Hussein told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. Casualties may rise as some of the maimed sustained serious injuries, he said.

Shops and businesses were damaged by the blast which occurred on a road to a military camp where the army chief was heading, said Col. Ahmed Muse, a police officer.

At least one dead body could be seen lying at the scene of the blast, he said.

Somalia's holy warrior rebel group al-Shabaab
...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
, which is linked to al-Qaeda, grabbed credit for the blast in an announcement on its Andalus radio station.

    -Short Attention Span Theater-
St. Louis couple who aimed guns at protesters had run-ins with local synagogue
Not a judgement, just to help us get a better sense of the McCloskeys as people.
[IsraelTimes] Mark McCloskey reportedly destroyed beehives whose honey was set to be harvested for Rosh Hashanah; community rabbi: ’The children were crying’.

A St. Louis couple who gained notoriety last month for brandishing guns at Black Lives Matters protesters passing in front of their mansion have been reported to have previously clashed with a synagogue next door.

According an extensive report about Patricia and Mark McCloskey’s in the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the Jewish Central Reform Congregation in the Missouri city has been a target of the couple’s many legal battles with neighbors and acquaintances.

Mark McCloskey reportedly "destroyed beehives placed just outside of the mansion’s northern wall by the neighboring Jewish Central Reform Congregation and left a note saying he did it, and if the mess wasn’t cleaned up quickly he would seek a restraining order and attorneys fees."

"The congregation had planned to harvest the honey and pick apples from trees on its property for Rosh Hashanah," the report said.

"The children were crying in school... It was part of our curriculum," Rabbi Susan Talve of the congregation told the local paper.

The report included a photo of the note threatening legal action that McCloskey left after destroying the hives.

McCloskey has previously sued his employer, his neighbors and his siblings, according to the story.
Apparently he is a bit of a curmudgeon, which changes his right to bear arms not a bit.
Central Reform Congregation has played a role in previous protests over racial injustice.

In 2014, the synagogue offered itself as a sanctuary for people protesting the police killing of Michael Brown, an unarmed Black 18-year-old, in nearby Ferguson, Missouri. The extended protests in Ferguson represented a breakout moment for the then-inchoate Black Lives Matter movement.

When protests erupted after an officer was acquitted of murder charges in a different case in 2017, the synagogue again offered refuge to protesters.
Both of which stupidities should have endeared the synagogue to the McCloskeys rather than otherwise — they claimed in interviews to support BLM, just not on their street.

George Soros group to spend $220M on causes promoting racial equality and criminal justice reform
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] A prominent nonprofit group founded by liberal mega-donor George Soros
...either Ernst Stavro Blofeld or Auric Goldfinger come true...
announced plans to dump more than $200 million into initiatives dedicated to ending racial inequality. The Open Society Foundation will announce its $220 million funding mission on Monday, committing $150 million to racial justice organizations that are under the leadership of black people and $70 million to organizations that promote civic engagement or small-time Mister Big justice reform initiatives.

"These investments will empower proven leaders in the black community to re-imagine policing, end mass incarceration, and eliminate the barriers to opportunity that have been the source of inequity for too long," Alexander Soros, George Soros' son and the organization's deputy chair, told the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

The Open Society has already selected many of the groups that will receive funding, including the Black Voters Matter Fund, a group that promotes black participation in elections, and the Equal Justice Initiative, an organization working to end mass incarceration of black citizens.

"There is this call for justice in black and brown communities, a kaboom of not just sympathy but solidarity across the board. So it’s time to double down. And we understood we can place a bet on these activists, black and white, who see this as a moment of not just incrementalism, but whole-scale reform," said Patrick Gaspard, the organization's president.

Gaspard noted that the Open Society has been funding organizations that aim to help black citizens and encourage black voter turnout for more than 25 years. George Soros, 89, has been one of the nation's most prolific donors to liberal causes and Democratic elected officials.

His deep pockets and Jewish heritage have driven far-right conspiracy theories about the methods of advocacy he supports. Earlier this year, Open Secrets denied conspiracy theories that claimed the organization was funding violent mostly peaceful rioters following the death of George Floyd.
Well, they would do, wouldn’t they. Which has nothing to do with their actual actions.

    -Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Lifting Lockdowns Not the Culprit Behind New Surge in Coronavirus Cases, Doctor Says
[PJMedia] Massive protests and proximity to the U.S.-Mexico border explains the recent surge in coronavirus cases far better than lifting lockdowns, Scott Atlas, M.D., a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, told Fox News this weekend. Bucking various health experts who have defended the George Floyd protests in the name of fighting the "virus" of racism, Atlas ventured to state the obvious: that people "protesting, sharing megaphones, screaming" is a "setup to spread cases."

Most of the new cases in the Southwest -- in California, Arizona, and Texas -- are sprouting up in counties closest to the U.S.-Mexico border.

"When you look in the southern counties of California, Arizona and the bordering counties of Texas -- with the Mexico border -- these are where most of these cases are really exploding," Atlas told Fox News. "And then you look at the Mexico map and in Mexico, that's where their cases are. Their cases are in the northern border zone states. And it turns out the timeline here correlates much more to the Mexico timeline of increasing cases than anything else."

The doctor insisted that the lifting of lockdowns -- the re-opening of various states -- likely did not lead to the surge in new cases.

"When you really look closely at these so-called re-opening policies, whether it's in Georgia or Florida or Texas, you know, we didn't really see a big correlation of cases and hospitalizations from that," Atlas said. "That's really not true. That's sort of some sloppy thinking, I think, again. We really ... have to look closely at why these things are happening."

He argued that "California didn't really reopen. Yet they have cases coming up."

Then Atlas touched on one of the main issues -- the massive protests in the wake of the horrific police killing of George Floyd.

"They correlate mainly to two things -- the big thousands and thousands of people with protesting, sharing megaphones, screaming. That's a setup to spread cases," the doctor said. "And also when you look at the analysis of the border counties, there's a tremendous amount of cases coming over the border and exchanging with families in the northern Mexico states."

The doctor warned that hospitals are getting crowded not just because of new cases but because hospitals are finally addressing "regular medical care" again. "We have locked that down before and that policy kills people. So we don't want to go back to that," he said. Indeed, the original lockdowns often put a halt to all "elective" surgeries, including heart surgeries and cancer treatments.
Also keep in mind that we have changed how we count to include "probable cases" which means anyone with a sniffle or a cough is COVID-19 positive with or without a positive test, and the financial incentives under Medicare to report cases as COVID-19.

#1  IMO, you can argue that relaxing lookdowns in necessary. You can't argue that it doesn't contribute to rise in covid 19 cases - unless, of course, the voice of your "inner truth" outweighs all other considerations.
    Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 07/14/2020 2:53 Comments || Top||

#2  Agreed, g(r)omgoru. But the purpose of lockdowns, as originally presented, was to flatten the curve so that hospitals were not overwhelmed, not to cut off the curve altogether. As long as we stay below that potential peak — a peak much higher than before, because of additional equipment and better treatments while we wait for cures and vaccines to be developed — should we not open up as much as is sustainable?
    Posted by: trailing wife || 07/14/2020 3:21 Comments || Top||

#3  Actually TW, (IMO) the thought at the basis of lockdowns was that come summer, the virus will go away. Nobody expected any different given our experience with coronaviruses. But, of course, the experience is with naturally evolved - not engineered - coronaviruses.
So right now, governments, have no solution but to walk lockdown relaxation back. And people riot "But you promised, Daddy!"
    Posted by: g(r)omgoru || 07/14/2020 3:42 Comments || Top||

#4  Nope we're in week gawd knows what of a 3 week lockdown to "save the NHS". which unfortunately for British health did survive, and with the overflow nightingale hospitals being completely unused.

The curve's been so flat it can't even be noticed. COVID kills when the immune system over-reacts to it.

Ironic that the government is totally over-reacting to COVID.

#5  Bordertowns AZ: Sparsely populated Yuma and Santa Cruz counties are Arizona's COVID-19 hot spots. Yuma recently confirmed 63 new cases of COVID-19 and two new deaths, bringing the total case count to 3,467 and total deaths to 53. Gee, who can explain that?
    Posted by: b || 07/14/2020 8:03 Comments || Top||

#6  It was very clear during the daily briefings that they wanted to flatten the curve as to not overwhelm the hospitals. Now it has changed. This virus WILL run its course through the population, you cant stop it. We inoculate 45% of America for the annual Flu and we still lose 30 to 60 thousand. This will run its course, and anyone who believed the so called "Science" that it would go away in summer was a fool. We are not spoiled kids angry with daddy Grom, we watch the facts, the truth, and we know this is an over reaction.

" But the purpose of lockdowns, as originally presented, was to flatten the curve so that hospitals were not overwhelmed, not to cut off the curve altogether."

To cut off the curve would have been smarter idea in the first place. New Zealand decided to do so from the beginning and was successful.

Germany almost succeeded in doing that, too, but relaxed the rules a bit too early. Still, with 6000 active cases currently, we're in pretty good shape right now. Most new infections can be traced back and be put under control.

...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) jacket wallahs and two security members were killed when Iraqi forces and U.S.-led coalition aircraft attacked a hideout near Iraqi capital Baghdad, the Iraqi military said on Sunday.

Acting on intelligence reports, an Iraqi force affiliated with the intelligence service surrounded an IS hideout housing five suicide bombers in a village located in the southwest of Baghdad, the media office of the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) said in a statement without giving further details about when exactly the raid occurred.

The troops, backed by an international coalition drone, managed to kill four suicide bombers, while the fifth went kaboom!, leaving an officer and a soldier killed, the statement added.

The raid came as the holy warrior group’s forces of Evil have intensified their attacks on the security forces, including Hashd Shaabi forces, and civilians in the formerly IS-controlled Sunni provinces, resulting in the killing and wounding of dozens.

The security situation in Iraq has been improving since Iraqi security forces fully defeated the IS forces of Evil across the country late in 2017.

    However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
group’s remnants have since melted in urban areas or deserts and rugged areas, carrying out frequent guerilla attacks against security forces and civilians.

(NDS) compound in Aybak city, the center of the northern Afghan province of Samangan, and ended with three attackers and at least 10 other people killed, according to local officials.

The officials also confirmed that 50 others were maimed in the earth-shattering kaboom and an ensuing shootout between security personnel and Taliban attackers.

The suicide kaboom happened at around 11:00 am, said Mohammad Sediq Azizi, a front man for the provincial governor.

According to officials, three attackers were involved in the attack that was claimed by the Taliban shortly after the initial blast.

President Ghani in a statement condemned the attack and called on the Taliban to stop fighting and "killing Afghans," warning that escalating violence and war would damage progress in the grinding of the peace processor.

    Abdullah Abdullah
...the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against both Karzai and Ghani. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun. He also held the meaningless salaried sop position as CEO of Afghanistan, while Ghani was president...
in a statement condemned the attack, saying: " These blind attacks are against the commitments to start intra-Afghan talks, reduce violence and establish peace and reconciliation in the country."

UNAMA also called on parties to take all feasible precautions to prevent civilian casualties.

"Parties must take all feasible precautions to prevent civilian harm. Initial reports indicate Taliban-claimed car kaboom on NDS in Samangan, Afghanistan injured dozens of civilians. UNAMA urges all parties to comply with international humanitarian law and protect civilians," UNAMA tweeted.

Ian Collard, UK's deputy ambassador to afghanistan, in a tweet also condemned the attack on the NDS building in Samangan province this morning, saying that the violence must stop.

"Condemn Taliban attack in Samangan today. Dozens of innocent civilians injured. Our thoughts are with those who are suffering because of the ongoing conflict. The Taliban need to show they are ready for peace," Collard tweeted.

According to the US-Taliban deal signed between the two sides in February, the krazed killer group committed to avoid attacks in Afghanistan’s cities. This is the first attack of its kind after the peace deal.

Violence is increasing in many parts of the country amid peace efforts.

The National Security Council (NSC) on Saturday, July 11, released data on civilian casualties, saying 23 non-combatants were killed and 45 others were maimed in Taliban violence over the last week.

Figures by the National Security Council indicate that 16 provinces of the country have witnessed 284 attacks by the Taliban in the last seven days.

Terre Haute gurney ride scheduled for Monday night
[CBS News] The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals on Sunday overturned a lower court ruling staying the execution of Daniel Lewis Lee. The execution, scheduled for Monday in Indiana, would be the first federal execution in 17 years.

"The plaintiffs' APA claim lacks any arguable legal basis and is therefore frivolous," the court said in its Sunday ruling.

Lee, 47, is a former white supremacist who in 1996 robbed and murdered a family of three, including their 8-year-old daughter. The family of Lee's victims filed a petition to delay the execution because they wanted to attend, but feared traveling to Indiana during the coronavirus pandemic. A judge on Friday had granted the petition, but Sunday's ruling overturned the stay.

The family said they will appeal the decision to the Supreme Court.

"The federal government has put this family in the untenable position of choosing between their right to witness Danny Lee's execution and their own health and safety," Baker Kurrus, an attorney representing the family, said in a statement.

Moscow says it regrets Turkish Hagia Sophia move
And so they should, as the third Rome looking at the fate of the second one.
[Al Ahram] Russia voiced regret Monday over The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
's decision to convert the iconic Hagia Sophia in Istanbul back into a mosque.
Turkey's move last week followed a court ruling that revoked the landmark's museum status, and has triggered a global outcry. The Russian Orthodox Church had already expressed dismay at the decision.

In a comment on the foreign ministry's website, spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow "noted with regret" Ankara's decision regarding the UNESCO World Heritage site.

Initially a Byzantine cathedral, it had already been used as a mosque before becoming a museum, which conferred a religious detachment that has now been severed.

On Friday, Russian Orthodox front man Vladimir Legoida said "the concern of millions of Christians were not heard" by Ottoman Turkish authorities.

Zakharova's comment came after deputy foreign minister Sergei Vershinin told news hounds that Moscow viewed the move as "an internal Ottoman Turkish affair in which neither us nor others should interfere."

Miami man arrested for damaging police cars says group recruits others to incite protest violence
[Local10] A man charged with causing damage to multiple police cars during a George Floyd protest in Miami is claiming to be part of a group that purposely encourages violence at demonstrations.

21-year-old Marco Lopez was arrested on Saturday by City of Miami Police after an investigation that lasted several days.

Authorities say Lopez confessed to breaking the back window of a Miami police cruiser with his skateboard on the night of Saturday, May 30, during a protest.

He also admitted to damaging the rear bumper of a second police vehicle, and spray painting a third.

According to police, Lopez claimed to belong to a group called the "Southern Slaves," which he told officers "actively recruits people to violent mostly peacefully protest the government."

Officers were able to identify Lopez by investigating videos of the protests posted on social media and comparing to his own profile photo.

Lopez’s arrest report states that he told interviewing officers, "Walking around the city won’t do anything, sooner or later you have to turn to violence."

    Fifth Column
Trove of Leaked FBI, Fusion Center and DHS Documents Provide Insight Into Antifa, Charlottesville, Political Bias, and the Erosion of Civil Liberties
    From Unz.

Read it or don't, but remember, the information is wherever you find it even if you think the source might be icky poo.

    A fair cop.
On June 22nd, a group of anarchist hackers called DDoSecrets dumped 270 gigabytes worth of internal documents belonging to regional police fusion centers, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The documents provide interesting insight into state surveillance tactics, political bias and dynamics, and how “threats” are prioritized.

The files — dated from 2015 to 2020 in the sample National Justice looked at — show a massive contradiction between the FBI’s ideologically selective priorities and the actual intelligence being provided to them by regional police centers, which often stress the role of “antifa” as instigators of violence.

POLICE KNOW ANARCHIST EXTREMISTS ALWAYS INSTIGATE VIOLENCE AT RALLIES
Law enforcement is fully aware of who provokes the fighting and rioting at riots: the left. The documents from fusion centers across the country (intelligence provided by local police departments) repeatedly report this.

An intelligence PDF iconassessment by the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center regarding the Berkeley Riots of Spring 2017, where anarchists and free speech activists faced off, painstakingly details the various criminal tactics “antifa” groups used to disrupt and physically injure lawful protesters and police officers.

The anarchist extremist groups in question continue to use the same tactics to this day, yet rarely face any criminal charges. The FBI is fully informed on the matter, including where the anarchists in California train in paramilitary tactics, yet refuses to investigate or prosecute any anarchist group for conspiring to commit acts of violence.

The Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC)PDF iconreported similar information in its investigation of the Boston Free Speech Rally on August 19th, 2017. BRIC noted that the nationalist and free speech demonstrators, about 60 of them in total, had a permit for the event, while the anarchist groups that showed up to heckle-veto them were there illegally.

The leftist rioters began attacking the protesters, and later, began engaging in gratuitous yet apparently coordinated violence against police officers attempting to intervene, causing multiple injuries.

The most interesting document of all is an intelligence assessment by DHS in the run up to the now famous Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville,
...that’s the one where the gun toters were from several chapters of Redneck Revolt/John Brown Gun Club, which calls itself Antifa’s militia wing, pretending to be white supremacists...
which starkly contradicts the mainstream media and FBI’s narrative.

In a PDF icondocument dated August 9th, 2017, DHS wrote “We assess that anarchist extremists’ use of violence as a means to oppose racism and white supremacist extremists’ preparations to counterattack anarchist extremists are the principal drivers of violence at recent white supremacist rallies.”

In other words, the DHS accurately predicted, through its intelligence gathering resources, that the nationalist groups in Charlottesville would only engage in self-defense if attacked. The Charlottesville Police Department, Mayor, and Governor were all warned in advance that Unite the Right had the potential to be the most violent rally to date, yet according to the Heaphy investigation, they — either through incompetence but most likely through malice — enabled the carnage by ordering the police not to intervene when the anarchists attacked the nationalists.

That nation is expected to lose 400 million working age persons this century, and the number is already falling. There is an 18 percent gender imbalance in the country's population. China's birth rate never recovered from its multi-decade "one child" policy.

China's rise as a global economic power, and regional military power, is one of the fastest in history. China has grown faster than America for four straight decades. It has built the industrial and technological foundations for a rapid expansion of its military, to include world-class capabilities in space launch, and its own version of GPS. China's mercantilist economics have taken over entire sectors of other economies, including those of the United States. All this has occurred  not just with U.S. acquiescence, but intentional facilitation. America first wanted China as a counterweight to Soviet Russia, and then aggressively helped China to get rich, with the expectation that self-government and democracy would follow in the Middle Kingdom.

But the times may be-a-changin’. China's population is aging at a rate and scale that is historically unprecedented.
I may have mentioned something about this from time to time... ;-)
That nation is expected to lose 400 million working age persons this century, and the number is already falling. There is an 18 percent gender imbalance in the country's population. China's birth rate never recovered from its multi-decade "one child" policy. India will likely pass China as the world's most populous country this decade. China has just backed off publishing its economic growth goal for the first time in decades.

China is bullying South Korean and Japanese companies. Samsung and Sony are scaling back their operations in the People's Republic. Apple is a laggard, but is planning to move 20 percent of its Chinese supply-chain presence to India. India banned fifty-nine Chinese mobile apps after the above-mentioned border clash. Huawei has found itself on the Trump administration's blacklist, and its loss of Google on its smartphones has badly damaged sales outside China. The UK has announced plans for Huawei's complete removal from British telecom infrastructure by 2023.

China's export markets are flat on their backs, and furious at China about the coronavirus. Europe is 16 percent of China's exports, and is an economic and financial wreck. America is 19 percent, the Trump attitude towards China is no secret, and those views are gaining steam with both parties on Capitol Hill. Chinese exports to America are falling rapidly, down 17 percent from the summer 2018 to January 2020. This will be dramatically accelerated by coronavirus. No one thought this economic decoupling could happen so fast. Chinese global direct foreign investment is also down from $260 billion in 2017 to $125 billion in 2019. Why would China be easing up now on its Belt and Road Initiative?

On the military side, China's geographic circumstances can only be described as bottled up and vulnerable. China is almost surrounded by countries that are unfriendly. It only has one ally, North Korea, which is more of a client state. Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Australia, and India are all on the spectrum from cool to hostile towards China. Most are allies or friendly with the United States. Many are armed with American high-tech weapons.

As bad as what the Federal Reserve is doing to the Dollar, it's at least got world reserve currency status going for it at the moment. The yuan has no such attribute. The Chinese may be able to trade their way out of debt, but the US will certainly have to pay its way out of debt. Neither case is anywhere near a likelihood.

#13  Yes, the problem China has is they can't simply print yuan to get themselves out of trouble.

They can. All countries do this. The trade-off is inflation. Ever notice how gold is not $25 an ounce any more? That's in part increased scarcity (and thus extraction costs) and in part the result of printing money. Gold's price increase in % terms has been far smaller when measured in other currencies. Printing money carries a very measurable price. It buys less when compared to countries that don't print as much. But all countries print money. It's a cure-all for recessions, at the expense of people who put their money in savings accounts and bonds.

    Britain
British Labour MP forced to apologize for calling Israel a terrorist state
[IsraelTimes] You can be proud of being Jewish without being a Zionist, Lloyd Russell-Moyle said.

A senior British Labour Party member of parliament has apologized, after it emerged that he had made comments on social media in which he called Zionism a "dangerous nationalist idea" and accused Israel of terrorism.

Lloyd Russell-Moyle, 33, a shadow environment minister and the MP for Brighton Kemptown on England's south coast made the comments before becoming an MP in 2017, according to Britannia's Sunday Times.

In one comment, since deleted, Russell-Moyle wrote "The point is people who are form Jewish decent/Jewish but are not Zionist is that the two are not automatic that you can be proud of being Jewish but realize that idea of inheriting/claim a land that you may have never visited or seen but have a ’heritage’ claim for is not progressive in its very nature."

In another, he compared the State of Israel to South Africa's National Party, an Afrikaner ethnic nationalist party which held power in the country during the apartheid era before disbanding in 1997.

"Terrorism feeds of [sic] violence," he wrote, "that is why it is only Israel that can stop the violence, it was the National Party in South Africa that had to make the first steps."

Russell-Moyle gained his seat with the support of Jeremy Corbyn's faction of the Labour Party, which was heavily criticized in the run up to the last general election in December 2019 for normalizing antisemitism within the UK. He also has links to Momentum, the hard right faction of the Labour Party
...hard right?? That doesn’t sound right...
    which helped Corbyn take power.

Last month Russell-Moyle sent a letter to Labour Party headquarters in support of Rebecca Massey, a "notorious" activist, according to The Sunday Times, who accused Israel of having the Labour and Conservative Parties "under control."

Massey was suspended from the party for backing Chris Williamson, a former MP who was blocked by Labour's National Executive Committee from standing as a Labour candidate at the last election due to a row between Williamson and the party over its handling of antisemitism allegations.

In his letter, Russell-Moyle included details only about Massey's support for the party, The Sunday Times reported.

Questioned over his comments, Russell-Moyle apologized, adding "I have now deleted these posts and recognize why they were offensive." He added that he would be contacting the Jewish Labour Movement for talks, saying "I am completely and unreservedly committed to supporting [Labour leader} Kier Starmer and Angela Rayner's pledge to rid the party of antisemitism."

His apology comes weeks after Starmer sacked Rebecca Long Bailey, his shadow education secretary, for sharing an article suggesting that Israel was inadvertently responsible for the death of George Floyd by training US coppers in the methods that resulted in his death.

Long-Bailey apologized, but Starmer said: "The sharing of that article was wrong. The article contained antisemitic conspiracy theories, and I have therefore stood Rebecca Long-Bailey down from the shadow cabinet." The Sunday Times noted that Russell-Moyle's apology is indicative that left-wingers within Starmer's team will try to remain within the executive and fight their position rather than resign on principle if challenged.

Iranian forces arrest ‘foreign intelligence agents’ in southern Iran
[ALMASDARNEWS] The head of the Islamic Revolution Court in the Kerman Province, Ahmed Qurbani, has announced the arrest of "agents of foreign intelligence services and opposition groups."

On Monday, Qurbani said, "A number of members of the anti-revolutionary groups in the governorate have been arrested, appeared before the Islamic Revolution Court and sentenced."

He pointed out that "the Revolutionary Court in the governorate has decided on a number of other security files as well and issued its rulings, including the file of the invited criminals, Ahmed Yousfi and Arya Jawidan, where they were carrying out kidnappings in the southern area of the governorate, which has destabilized the region and impeded the achievement of economic development in it."

A fifth Ottoman Turkish soldier has been killed in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
's defence ministry announced in a statement late on Sunday night, almost a month since Ankara began air and ground operations against alleged Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) sites in the area.

Though the statement did not provide a location of death, the soldier was part of Turkey's Operation Claw-Tiger ground offensive, taking place in the Haftanin area of the Kurdistan Region.

The soldier was killed on July 12 and died after hospitalisation, the statement read. Three members of the PKK were "neutralised" in the festivities, it added. Ankara uses the term "neutralised" to denote the killing, injury or capture of its enemy forces.

Turkey launch air offensive Operation Claw-Eagle on June 15, with the stated aim of targeting PKK bases in the Kurdistan Region. It launched commando-led ground offensive Operation Claw-Tiger in Haftanin two days later. At least five civilians in the Kurdistan Region have been killed by Ottoman Turkish Arclight airstrike
    ...KABOOM!...
    s so far.

The People's Defence Forces - the PKK military wing known by its Kurdish acronym, HPG - announced Sunday that it had killed 16 Ottoman Turkish soldiers in Haftanin in the space of three days. On Sunday alone, 13 Ottoman Turkish soldiers were "punished", as the HPG statement termed their killing.

Turkey has conducted airstrikes and ground operations against the PKK within Iraq’s borders for years, accusing the governments of federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of failing to take adequate measures against the group.

Both Erbil and Baghdad have repeatedly called on Ankara to halt its attacks and the violation of its illusory sovereignty, and have demanded the PKK withdraw from their territory.

Iraqi security analyst Husham al-Hashimi last month put the number of PKK fighters in Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, at between 8,500 and 10,000, distributed across 81 points and bases.

Ankara said last week that its forces have established almost 40 "military points" in the Kurdistan Region - including one each in the cities of Erbil, Duhok, Soran and Zakho. The map was later deleted.

#4  taking HCQ means you give up a chance to contribute to herd immunity.

Why? As I understand it, HQC — whether or not plus zinc and azithromycin or plus the asthma inhaler — is not a cure, but merely allows the patient’s immune system to fight off the infection without being overwhelmed by the fallout of a cytokine storm. So herd immunity would be improved by one more survivor rather than diminished by another corpse.
    Posted by: trailing wife || 07/14/2020 3:17 Comments || Top||

#5  No. Actually, to the extent that we understand its action, it prevents viral replication
The molecular ionic attachment of HCQ to RNA
nucleotides enabled by AZR results in the inhibition of the replication capability of the coronavirus disease
    COVID-19
    .
No viral replication, no immune response. And therefore, no immune memory - immunity.
That's why it's a good prophylactic and not so good cure.

Mad Maxine: Trump, Supporters, Making Sure Blacks ‘Do Not Rise To Any Level Of Influence And Power’

...U.S. Representative for California's 43rd congressional district, serving since 1991, a total of 28.61820 years. Before becoming a member of Congress she served in the California Assembly, to which she was first elected back when Disco was in flower, in 1976, which would make it 43.61615 years. She has been a politician for virtually all her adult life. If she was a little brighter she'd be a Communist...
(D-CA) said on Sunday that President Trump and his supporters are all racist and are actively working to keep black people down.

Trump and his base "believe that it is their right and their responsibility to ensure that blacks and people of color and others do not rise to any level of influence and power, significant that would cause them not to be in total charge of the country," Waters said on MSNBC’s "AM Joy."

The Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democrat did not mention the fact that the last U.S. president, Barack Obama
I inhaled. That was the point...
, was black, and that he won easily in two elections.

Waters also said the U.S. "justice system is broken," adding that for black people, "it has never really been in our favor, and it has basically been responsible for ensuring that we could never ever get beyond this suppression and this oppression that has been forced upon us for so many years."

"So those who criticize Black Lives Matter, they can continue to do that, but I want to tell you the time has come now where we are joined by so many others who really were not there for us in the past." Waters continued.

The 80-year-old career politician said that racism is the cause of most social problems in America.

"You saw it in all of the protests where you had whites and blacks and Asians and old and young, all saying something is wrong with this country. Something is wrong with our criminal justice system. Something is wrong with our policing," Waters said. "It is racism."

Mali president's son quits parliament role amid protests
[Al Ahram] The son of Mali's embattled President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, a target of popular anger in the fragile West African state, resigned as chair of the parliament's defence committee on Monday.

Karim Keita left the role as the government faces a growing protest movement, sparked by the outcome of parliamentary elections in March and April, but whose underlying causes include discontent over its handling of Mali's jihadist insurgency.

Economic woes and perceived government corruption have also fuelled public anger.

A protest in the capital Bamako on Friday turned violent mostly peaceful after protesters blocked bridges and attacked the parliament building.

Clashes persisted over the weekend and through Monday, with the protesters calling on President Boubacar to resign.

Eleven people have died and 124 have been injured since the unrest began, according to staff at a major hospital.

Karim Keita has been another target of protesters' anger over suspicions he leads a playboy lifestyle.

Recently leaked videos -- which AFP could not independently verify -- appear to show him enjoying himself at a party aboard a luxury yacht, for example, causing a scandal in the impoverished country of some 19 million people.

On Monday, Keita said in a statement that he would resign as parliamentary defence committee chair because he no longer wants to figure in arguments raised by political opponents.

He will continue to work as an MP, however.
