Corrupt Letitia James Asks Judge to Reject Trump's $175 Million Bond
[Townhall] She needs to be beaten, in the courts or in the street
New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office first forced former President Donald Trump to pay a $454 million bond.

Then when an appeals court ruled that it was an outlandish sum, the bond was lowered to $175 million.

After scrambling to get the millions of money to pay the radical, politically-driven bond, James is asking the judge in Trump’s civil fraud case to reject it.

On Friday, state lawyers explained in a 26-page court filing that Trump and his co-defendants — the Trump Organization and its top executives, including his two sons— failed to show there is enough identifiable collateral to back the bond.

"Based on the foregoing, the People respectfully request that the Court deny Movants’ motion to justify the surety, declare the Bond to be without effect, and order that any replacement bond be posted within seven days, along with such other and further relief the Court deems necessary and appropriate," James’ office wrote.

Earlier this month, James raised doubts "sufficiency" of the $175 million bond Trump put up, which the California-based Knight Specialty Insurance Company lent the former president.

Lawyers for James’ claimed that Knight is a "small insurer that is not authorized to write business in New York" and had "never before written a surety bond in New York," until Trump asked for it.

The court filing argued that Trump chose a "small insurer that is not authorized to write business in New York and thus not regulated by the state's insurance department," rather than a large-scale national insurance company licensed in New York.

"Based on KSIC’s policyholder surplus in its most recent annual financial statement of $138,441,671, the limitation of loss on any one risk that KSIC is permitted to write is $13.8 million," the lawyers wrote. "The face amount of the bond exceeds this limitation by $161.2 million."

James threatened to seize Trump’s assets including his Mar-a-Lago estate if he failed to secure the bond funds. At the time, Trump’s attorneys argued that the former president should not be required to post a bond while he appeals the outcome of his recent civil business fraud trial.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Texas boy, 10, confesses to killing a stranger in 2022 ‐ but he can't be charged under state law
[NY Post] WTF?
A 10-year-old Texas boy confessed last week to killing a stranger over two years ago — but according to state law, the alleged murderous youngster cannot be charged with the crime.

The boy shared key details that have not been revealed to the public in the 2022 slaying of Brandon O’Quinn Rasberry, a case that has left authorities scratching their heads for more than two years.

Rasberry, 32, was found in his RV on Jan. 18, 2022 with a single gunshot wound to his head and two minor graze wounds on each of his hands, according to the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe he had been dead for two days before his employer reported him missing. He had only been living in the RV park for four days.

Police combed through Raspberry’s cell phone data and interviewed multiple neighbors, but all leads were exhausted — until last week when a local principal called to report the 10-year-old’s chilling confession and threats to kill another student.

"Based on this information the Deputy contacted the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Investigators determined based on the information the child told the school, the child may have knowledge about the murder of Brandon," the department said.

The boy, whose identity has not been revealed, "described in detail" in interviews with police every detail of the cold-blooded murder he allegedly carried out when he was just 7 years old.

The boy had been visiting his grandfather, who lived at the same RV park, at the time and noticed Rasberry walking around the lot, police said.

On the night of the murder, the child said he took a 9-millimeter pistol — which he described as "dirt and army green" in color — from the glovebox of his grandfather’s truck and crept into Rasberry’s RV.

"The Child stated he observed Brandon sleeping in his bed and approached Brandon and discharged the firearm into Brandon striking him one time in the head," police stated.

"The child stated as he was leaving the RV he discharged the firearm another time into the couch inside the RV. The child then exited the RV and returned the firearm to the glovebox of the truck."

According to investigators, the boy had no clear motive for the deranged crime.

He admitted he had never met his victim and didn’t even know his name.

"The child was also asked if he was mad at Brandon for some reason or if Brandon had ever done anything to him to make him mad, the child stated no," police said.

That same day, police tracked down the suspected weapon at a pawn shop the child’s grandfather had since sold it to. It was later matched with spent shell casings that were collected at the scene of the murder.

Most shockingly — the boy can’t be charged with Rasberry’s death. Texas law states that a child cannot be responsible for a crime until they are 10 years old.

Rasberry’s family is not only outraged that their loved one’s killer won’t be punished for the murder, but is shocked at how young the kid was.

"Finding out it was a 7-year-old that committed the murder, a senseless murder at that, it’s just tragic. It’s kind of hard to wrap your head around," Rasberry’s brother, Jonathan Fojtik, told KENS5.

"I feel like the boy knew exactly what he was doing," Fojtik added.

"Why wasn’t the child being supervised more?"

The boy was placed on a 72-hour emergency detention following his confession before being taken to a psychiatric hospital in San Antonio, Texas for evaluation and treatment.

He has since been booked on making terroristic threats charges for the incident involving his classmate and is being held in county jail.

Money From Ted Lieu's Campaign Was Sent to Wife's School Board Campaign Then to Lieu Personally
[Red State] He's still at it.

Since 2019, RedState has broken numerous stories about Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu's potentially illegal habit of spending campaign funds on expenses that personally benefit him and his family, such as $10,000 to the Torrance Education Foundation, which sponsors his sons' robotics team, $15,000 to his wife's school board campaign, and a $50,000 contribution to the university at which his eldest son matriculated a couple of years later (Stanford).

Those stories garnered national attention, but he doesn't care. He kept right on sending money from his donors to these causes, without his donors' knowledge or consent. A review of FEC records shows that Ted Lieu for Congress has now donated $25,000 to Betty Lieu's school board campaign and $17,000 to the Torrance Education Foundation.

French police detain man claiming to wear explosive vest at Iran consulate in Paris
IsraelTimes] Iranian man allegedly wears vest containing three fake grenades; was previously convicted for setting fire to tires in front of embassy entrance in 2023

French authorities Friday detained a man suspected of entering the Iranian consulate in Paris and falsely claiming to be armed with an explosive vest, police and prosecutors said.

No explosives or arms were found on the man or the premises after he surrendered to police following the incident.

The man, born in 1963 in Iran, had already been convicted for setting fire to tires in front of the entrance of the Iranian embassy in Paris in 2023, the Paris prosecutor’s office said.

Police arrested the suspect, who has not been named, when he exited of his own accord after appearing to have "threatened violent action" inside, it said.

But "no explosive materials have been observed at this stage," either on him, in his car or in the building.

According to a police source, who asked not to be named, he was wearing a vest with large pockets containing three fake grenades.

Police earlier told AFP that the consulate called in law enforcement after a witness saw "a man enter carrying a grenade or an explosive belt."

An AFP journalist said the whole neighborhood around the consulate in the capital’s 16th district had been closed off and a heavy police presence was in place.

Traffic was temporarily suspended on two metro lines that pass through stops close to the consulate, Paris transport company RATP said.

Iran’s embassy and consulate in the French capital share the same building, but have two different entrances on separate streets.

The incident came with tensions running high in the Middle East as Israel reportedly launched a heavily anticipated reprisal strike overnight for an Iranian attack on Israel days earlier, defying international pressure to stand down.

There was however no suggestion of any link.

Facing court
The office of the Paris prosecutor confirmed that the same man was due to appear in court on Monday over a fire at the diplomatic mission in September 2023.

A lower court had handed him an eight-month suspended sentence and prohibited him from entering the area around the consulate for two years and carrying weapons.

But he is appealing the verdict.

At the time, the man had claimed the action as an act of opposition to Iran’s clerical authorities as they faced the "Woman. Life. Freedom." nationwide protests.

Reports said that the man left Iran in the wake of the 1979 Islamic revolution and has expressed sympathy towards the former imperial regime.

IDF: 4 soldiers hurt, several Palestinian gunmen killed in West Bank raid
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians say top Islamic Jihad bandidos turbans among those killed in festivities with soldiers in Nur Shams; army bulldozers rip up roads to search for bombs

Several Paleostinian button men were killed and four soldiers were maimed during a counter-terrorism raid in the West Bank’s Nur Shams refugee camp, close to Tulkarem, the military said Friday afternoon. Paleostinian media said a senior Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
bandidos turbans was among the dead.

The Israel Defense Forces said its troops and Border Police officers raided Nur Shams overnight, during which several wanted Paleostinians were detained, bombs were discovered, and several button men were killed in festivities throughout the morning.

Paleostinian media outlets report that a senior Paleostinian Islamic Jihad terrorist Muhammad Jaber, known as Abu Shuja’a, was killed in the raid. He was the commander of PIJ’s local wing in Tulkarem, the reports said.

The reports also named a second person killed, identifying him as as 30-year-old Salim Ghannam. At least on other person was injured.

The Paleostinian health ministry in Ramallah also said that a Qais Fathi Nasrallah, 16, was killed. The official Paleostinian news agency Wafa said he died after being "shot in the head by Israeli live gunfire." It was unclear when he actually died.

The army said it scanned buildings and used bulldozers to rip up roads where bombs were suspected to have been planted.

An officer of the Marom Brigade and a soldier of the brigade’s elite LOTAR unit were moderately injured, and two soldiers of the Kfir Brigade’s Haruv reconnaissance unit were lightly hurt amid the operation, the IDF said.

Since October 7, Israeli troops have arrested some 3,850 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,650 affiliated with Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,, according to the IDF.

The Paleostinian Authority health ministry has said more than 450 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men or bandidos turbans carrying out attacks.

Medicare ignored expert advice to cut tests for transplant patients
[Hill} Contractors for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cut access to tests for transplant patients that could show early signs of organ rejection despite expert physicians advising the opposite, a new report has found.

The Health Equity in Transplantation Coalition (HEiTC) announced Friday that a Freedom of Information Act request found that Medicare contractors limited access to blood tests even after the recommendations given by the government-chosen panel of medical experts.

Al B. Sure!, executive chairman of HEiTC, said he was "incredibly alarmed" by the findings.

"Instead of listening to these experts and considering what these tests meant to tens of thousands of transplant recipients, the contractor not only ignored but withheld their expert opinion," he said. "In the process, they took away a vital tool for other doctors to monitor an overwhelmingly Black and Brown transplant community, which for the last year has lived with more anxiety than they should."

"It’s never been more important that these cutbacks are reversed and coverage without any tie to a biopsy is restored," he added.

Israeli warplanes said to take out radar installation in southern Syria
[IsraelTimes] Attack involving six fighter jets flying east over Daraa-Suweida area occurred around same time as reported attack on Iran’s Isfahan, monitor says

Israel allegedly carried out strikes on a Syrian army position in the country’s south early Friday, Syria’s government and a monitor said, as reports indicated that Jerusalem had launched a retaliatory attack against an Iranian site in Isfahan.

In a statement, Syria’s defense ministry said "The Israeli enemy carried out an attack using missiles... targeting our air defense sites in the southern region" and causing material damage.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said Israel targeted an army radar position in the southern province of Daraa that had detected the entry of Israeli planes into Syria’s airspace.

Rami Abdelrahman, head of the Britannia-based Observatory, claimed the strikes took place "at a time when the Israeli air force was flying intensively over the Daraa region" without Syrian air defenses taking any action.

He said six Israeli fighter jets entered Syria’s airspace and were flying east when they were spotted by the radar. He said damage was caused, but it was unclear if there were any casualties.

Rayan Maarouf, who runs the Suwayda24 anti-government news website, said there had been strikes on a Syrian army radar position in Sweida province, without specifying their origin.

Sweida neighbors Daraa in Syria’s far south, near its border with Jordan. The area is directly west of Isfahan, some 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) away, and east of Israel.

The strikes occurred as Israel appeared to launch a hotly awaited reprisal against Iran, with Tehran saying its air defenses took out three drones. Israeli and US officials confirmed to foreign news sites that Israel was behind the attack, which was widely described as limited and meant to keep the fighting from escalating.

The World Is Paying a Deadly Price for Barack Obama's Foreign Policy Legacy
[PJ] If a belligerent state launched 185 explosive drones, 36 cruise missiles and 110 surface-to-surface missiles from three fronts against civilian targets within the United States, would President Joe Biden call it a "win"?

Would the president tell us that the best thing we can do now is show "restraint"? What if that same terror state's proxy armies had recently helped murder, rape and kidnap more than 1,000 American men, women and children? What if this terror state were trying to obtain nuclear weapons so it could continue to agitate without any consequences?

This is what Biden and the Barack Obama acolytes, Iranian dupes and Israel antagonists he's surrounded himself with demand of the Jewish state.

And by "Iranian dupes," I don't only mean the Jake Sullivans and Antony Blinkens of the world, who worked to elevate the mullahs over Sunni allies and the Israelis, or even a Hamas bestie like Rob Malley or Israel hater like Maher Bitar. I mean assets of the Islamic State who promised the Iranian government to help out in any way possible.

Unhinged Hillary Clinton Accuses Trump of Wanting to Be Like Putin and Murder His Enemies
[Red State] Appearing on election lawyer Marc Elias' podcast "Democracy Docket" in an episode that dropped Friday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton whined about her 2016 election loss and hurled baseless charges against former President Donald Trump, accusing him of wanting to be like Russian strongman Vladimir Putin and murder his enemies.

Even for the divisive former First Lady, this was pretty obnoxious stuff.

A fawning Elias welcomed the "true American hero" who has "been right about everything" to his podcast, and promptly asserted that 2016 was rigged and it was the Russians who handed Trump the presidency. Guess he hasn't heard of the Mueller Report, which proved no such thing. In fact, the infamous Steele Dossier, which Hillary's campaign financed, has been thoroughly debunked and is basically hot garbage.

But when Hillary got on the subject of Trump and his potential second term, a screw seemed to come loose:

US Fentanyl Crisis Is A 'CCP-Run Operation', Says Peter Schweizer
[ZERO] In March 2021, the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Overseas United Working Committee recognized Wan Kuok Koi, also known as "Broken Tooth," as a "patriotic businessman" and the "chief representative" of all international Hongmen associations. Hongmen is synonymous with triads, or Chinese transnational organized crime syndicates, to many Chinese.

The awarding entity is a CCP United Front organization and a platform under the China Association for Science and Technology. It also pushes China’s flagship infrastructure program, the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), worldwide. According to the Treasury Department notice, Mr. Wan has established a security company protecting BRI investments in Southeast Asia.

In a recent interview with EpochTV’s American Thought Leaders (ATL), investigative writer Peter Schweizer cited Mr. Wan’s case as an example of the CCP’s take on the United States’ fentanyl crisis.

"The notion that ’oh, China’s trying very hard, but they can’t fix this’ is an absolute joke in my mind," he said.

In addition, the author of a new book titled "Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans" told ATL that the U.S. fentanyl crisis is a "CCP-run operation."

"The drug cartels are certainly involved, but they’re the junior partner," Mr. Schweizer said, adding that the CCP is present at "every link of the chain."

The Chinese production of fentanyl precursors is widely known. However, Mr. Schweizer’s research also shows that China provides pill-pressing machines at cost for fentanyl-laced fake pill production, distributes the synthetic opioid in the United States, facilitates the Mexican drug cartels’ financial transactions, and provides secure communication systems to cartels so they can bypass detection by U.S. law enforcement.

US vetoes Security Council resolution recognizing Palestinians as full UN member state
[IsraelTimes] 12 nations back statehood bid, including France, Japan, South Korea, which haven’t individually recognized Palestinian state; US official: They voted yes because they knew we’d use veto

The US prevented the Security Council from recognizing the Palestinians as a full UN member state, following through on its pledge to veto a resolution brought before the top international body on Thursday. Twelve Security Council members voted in favor of granting the Palestinians full UN member status, while just the UK and Switzerland abstained.

The US had first sought to convince the Palestinian Authority to shelve the measure before turning to other members to either oppose or abstain after Ramallah rebuffed Washington’s request, a US official told The Times of Israel. But the final tally showed that the Biden administration largely failed in its effort, with US Deputy Ambassador Robert Wood being the lone envoy to raise his hand in opposition to the resolution — a symbolic demonstration of Washington’s international isolation on the matter.

France, Japan, South Korea and Slovenia all voted in favor of the resolution submitted by Algeria, even though none of them had individually recognized a Palestinian state. The US official speculated that those countries voted the way they did even though they don’t practically support the measure because they knew there wouldn’t be any consequences for doing so, given Washington’s pledged veto.

Sierra Leone, Russia, Mozambique, Malta, Guyana, Ecuador, China and Algeria also voted in favor of the resolution but have each already recognized a Palestinian state. At least nine countries of the 15-member body needed to support the measure in order to force a US veto.

The US has long opposed Palestinian efforts to unilaterally secure statehood status at the UN, arguing that the goal should be achieved through direct negotiations with Israel. More recently, US officials have said such efforts also harm the Biden administration’s pursuit of a two-state solution through a broader regional initiative that it’s actively working to advance.

The US plan envisions starting with a hostage-for-truce deal between Israel and Hamas followed by a permanent end to the war. Israel’s Arab allies would then assist in the rebuilding of Gaza with assistance from a reformed PA, which would return to governing the enclave alongside the West Bank in the creation of a pathway to an eventual two-state solution with Israel that would enjoy normalized relations with Saudi Arabia, thereby bolstering a regional front against Iran. In addition to a still-elusive hostage deal, the US plan also hinges on Israeli willingness to accept an eventual two-state solution — a non-starter for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and most of his coalition.

In explaining the US opposition to the resolution earlier Thursday, US State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel said there was not unanimity among Security Council members that the Palestinians had met the criteria necessary to be defined as a state. Moreover, he said that the PA needs to undergo significant reforms before it’s recognized as a state. Ramallah has long been marred by allegations of corruption and mismanagement. Patel also pointed to congressional legislation that would force the Biden administration to cut funding to the UN if it unilaterally approved the Palestinian request for full-member status — something Washington does not want to have to do.

After gaining non-member observer status in 2012, the Palestinians have sought, to no avail, to become the 194th member of the UN. Thursday’s vote was not the first time that the Palestinians’ application was denied by the Security Council, after failing to reach the nine-vote threshold in 2014. The results of that vote were eight to two with five abstentions, with France then also among the countries that backed the resolution.

Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan thanked the Biden administration "for standing up for truth and morality in the face of hypocrisy and politics."

"I explained how the PA does not meet even the basic criteria, that they have no authority over their territory, and that the PA is a terror-supporting entity," he said in remarks following the vote. "Yet regardless of the Palestinians’ failure to meet the necessary criteria for UN membership, most of you, sadly, decided to reward Palestinian terror with a Palestinian state."

Erdan also lamented his repeated unsuccessful efforts to coax the Security Council to condemn Hamas for its October 7 terror onslaught. "But nevertheless, you refuse to even condemn, you refuse to listen, you refuse to act, you even refuse to check the facts."

"So today, I won’t try to fix what’s already broken. Speaking to this council is like speaking to a brick wall."

Foreign Minister Israel Katz also thanked the US, saying approval of the statehood resolution would have been a "reward for terrorism" just six months after Hamas’s October 7 atrocities. Like Erdan, he blasted the Security Council for failing to denounce Hamas for the devastating attack.

"There will be no rewards for terrorism. Israel will continue to fight until the fall of Hamas and the release of all 133 Israeli hostages," Katz wrote on X.

PA President Mahmoud Abbas blasted the US veto, calling it an "aggression" that pushes the Middle East towards an "abyss."

Hamas condemned the US stance in a statement and called on the international community to "support the struggle of our Palestinian people and their legitimate right to determine their destiny."

Hostage families block Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway; CIA chief blames Hamas for deadlock

hostages along with their supporters blocked off the main highway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv on Friday, protesting government inaction in returning the abductees.

The demonstrators burned barrels set up in the middle of the highway and held up signs with pictures of their loved ones, calling on Israel to do more to reach an elusive deal.

Police and firefighters then moved in to disperse the demonstrators and douse the flames.

While the demonstrators placed the onus on the Israeli government, CIA chief Bill Burns in a rare public comment placed the blame on Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", for the deadlocked negotiations, saying the terror group had rejected the latest proposal.

"It was a deep disappointment to get a negative reaction from Hamas," Burns said at an event at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas.

"Right now, it’s that negative reaction that really is standing in the way of innocent civilians in Gaza getting humanitarian relief that they so desperately need," he said.

Burns said he could not guarantee that the talks will succeed.

"And it breaks your heart because you can see in very human terms what’s at stake here as well," he said.

As Hostages’ Square rally seeks unity, some families look for help from union instead

[IsraelTimes] Mass rally marked by apolitical stance bringing together people from various walks of life, but smaller group backing more extreme action demands labor body call nationwide strike

Thousands in Tel Aviv gathered Thursday night for a "unity rally" put on by the main umbrella group representing families of hostages held in Gazoo, but any idea of consensus was belied by some hostage families opting to instead participate in a smaller anti-government protest. The concurrent events, just a few blocks apart from each other in the heart of Tel Aviv, provided a window into growing rifts among hostage families lobbying for their loved ones’ freedom, as some have strayed from the forum’s non-partisanship to point a finger at the government for the difficulty in reaching a deal and call for new elections.

With the goal of "uniting all sectors of Israeli society" to demand the release of those in Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
captivity, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum brought together a diverse crowd of secular and religious Israelis to Hostages’ Square to hear from hostages’ family members, rabbis, parents of fallen soldiers and residents of the Gaza Envelope communities.

Missing from the panoply were several hostage families and their supporters who have shifted to more direct criticism of the government in recent weeks. They instead marched from military headquarters to the offices of the powerful Histadrut labor federation, demanding its chairman, Arnon Bar-David, call a general strike to push the government into signing a hostage deal with Hamas.

At Hostages’ Square, most speakers refrained from discussing how Israel should go about freeing the captives in Gaza, whether through an agreement or warfare, focusing more on the rhetoric of unity before the Passover holiday.

"There is no right, no left, there is no religious, traditional or secular. We all want to see them home," said Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Lau near the rally’s outset. "We are all united in worry, love and care for each and every one who is not home, for those who were kidnapped."

Moran Zer Katzenstein, chair of the Women Wage Peace movement and a secular Israeli, reached across the aisle to the religious public in a speech that referenced a passage from the Torah urging action on the hostages issue.

"In addition to prayer, the Torah says that we must make an effort," she said. "Each one of us should check what effort we are making to return the hostages now."

’SHUTDOWN OR ABANDONMENT’
Outside Tel Aviv’s Kirya military headquarters, hundreds of protesters led by a handful of hostages’ family members explicitly demanded a deal, taking a harsher stance towards the government and mincing no words while calling for a complete shutdown of the Israeli economy until the captives’ release.

Miri Gross, one of the chant leaders at the demonstration, said she felt that the rally in Hostages’ Square would not push hard enough for a negotiated deal because of its inclusion of right-wing activists who back the government. She told The Times of Israel that the march to Histadrut headquarters represented a "true protest," designed to put pressure on the government.

At the front of the crowd Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan Zangauker was taken captive in Gaza, worked to unfurl a banner with the slogan "shutdown or abandonment" written on it. Over the past couple of months, Zangauker has made a name for herself as a former Likud voter turned vocal critic of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Europe
Man removed from Warsaw Ghetto Uprising event in Poland for pro-Palestinian protest
[IsraelTimes] As dignitaries stood on stage in Warsaw to mark the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a lone figure got up to join them: a man wearing a hoodie with the colors of the Palestinian flag.

The man placed flowers atop a pile assembled for the occasion, then moved to the side of the stage where he unfurled a large Palestinian flag and stood with his head down, according to an attendee at the event.

The protest featured just one participant and resolved without derailing the ceremony when police officers escorted him offstage. Still, it offered evidence of just how extensive and varied the settings for pro-Palestinian demonstrations have become since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7 that was triggered by the terror group’s devastating attack.

The annual ceremony in Warsaw takes place outside the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, located in what was once the Warsaw Ghetto, where the Nazis imprisoned nearly half a million Jews, almost all whom were ultimately murdered. The monument memorializes the hundreds of ragtag, half-starved Jews who banded together in April 1943 to battle the Nazis — and held them off for nearly a month rather than surrender themselves and their brethren to the death camps. Ultimately, the uprising failed, but it remains the most famous symbol of resistance to the Nazis’ genocidal ambitions.

The gathering was smaller than last year, when leaders convened from all over the world for the 80th anniversary of the uprising. Still, it featured local dignitaries and representatives from foreign governments, who laid wreaths at the site, along with prayers by Polish Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich.

This year’s ceremony also comes after a time of tension between the Polish and Israeli governments over the Israel-Hamas war, following the killing earlier this month of a Polish aid worker who was part of a World Central Kitchen convoy bombed by the Israeli army. After Israel’s ambassador to Poland rejected what he called accusations that Israeli forces committed "intentional murder," he was summoned by the Foreign Ministry in Warsaw for a formal reprimand. He subsequently issued an apology for the death of the worker, 25-year-old Damian Sobol.

After his friend was killed on Oct. 7, a 25-year-old raised millions for the war effort
God helps those who help themselves.
[IsraelTimes] Gidon Hazony started Soldiers Save Lives the day after David Newman was murdered in the Supernova massacre. It continues to help soldiers and civilians in the tragedy’s wake

Gidon Hazony woke up in his Jerusalem apartment on the morning of October 7 to the sound of a missile siren, but it wasn’t until a second siren went off soon afterward and videos from the country’s south started flooding in on social media that he realized something was seriously amiss. A short time later, Hazony and some of his friends got a message from their childhood friend David Newman reading, "Pray for me," and then another reading, "Something terrible has happened." Newman was among some 360 people murdered that day at the Supernova music festival, part of the largest massacre in Israeli history that saw thousands of Hamas

Strip.

While the country was initially shocked by the October 7 onslaught, this soon gave way to a massive wave of civil volunteer work as organizations and individuals rallied together behind Israel’s military, which had set out to rescue the hostages and remove the threat of the Hamas terror organization from the country’s southern border.

One such organization was Soldiers Save Lives, which was founded by the 25-year-old Hazony immediately following October 7 to help supply the military during the war’s logistically challenging early days. The group, whose role has since evolved, was formed as a way to honor Newman’s memory.

Hazony said he met Newman when they were 14 and started playing soccer together.

"He was just such a warm and loving party boy," Hazony said. "He just loved spreading that energy, he loved having parties, he loved inviting his friends to parties. He was very welcoming to everyone, and he was very sympathetic and empathetic and cared about everyone around him."

Hazony added that Newman was the person friends went to when they were going through difficult times.

"He provided a comfort zone for everyone because he wasn’t judgy, he wasn’t super competitive. He was always very loving," Hazony said.

ATTEMPTED RESCUE
Hazony, who is close to finishing his bachelor’s degree in mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, volunteers for the Magen David Adom (MDA)

emergency ambulance service and was a medic in the army. It was this experience that motivated him to go looking for Newman on October 7 when he realized his friend was in trouble.

Hazony’s roommate at the time was Newman’s cousin, who is also a medic. When they realized that Newman needed help, the two got into a car and drove south, stopping only to pick up a gun and bulletproof vests from a friend.

"We didn’t really understand that there was a war breaking out," Hazony told The Times of Israel. "We thought it was just a terrorist attack at a party."

When the two got close to the southern city of Sderot, they faced a roadblock, but the police let them through when they explained that they were medics trying to help a friend.

"Almost immediately we saw people lying by a car who looked like they needed help," Hazony said. "We got out to help, but they were dead and had been for hours. This was shocking for me as a 25-year-old guy who was a medic in the army and a medic in MDA, but never saw anything serious."

Eventually, Hazony, along with other medics in the area, opened a field hospital near Sderot and spent the day treating maimed people who had come from the Supernova festival. They never made it to the party grounds and could not help Newman, who they were later told had been killed before 7 a.m.

"Around midnight on Saturday, I hitchhiked home and my friends and family were waiting for me," Hazony said. "And then I realized that I had done something crazy, and on top of that my best friend had been killed, and on top of that we were at war, and I hadn’t realized all that was going on while I treated people on the border."

SPRINGING INTO ACTION
That night, Hazony and his friends decided that they had to do something to help the war effort.

"It started on Sunday morning with basic missions like buying sleeping bags and hydration packs and delivering them to soldiers who were asking for them, and then delivering a drone to my brother who was on the way to battle and realizing that he didn’t have a bulletproof vest and I had to give him the one I was wearing," Hazony said.

From there, the group’s plan escalated. By getting in touch with contacts the group had in New York and Israel, they arranged for a plane to take off from JFK Airport by Monday afternoon carrying nine tons of tactical and humanitarian aid to Israel that had been donated by Jewish communities in New York.

"We had no idea what we were doing," Hazony said. "We got in trouble with customs and the Defense Ministry, meanwhile organizing new flights while having no idea what we were doing."

Within a week, the organization had arranged for three more flights carrying aid and had raised almost half a million dollars.

The organization now has an office in Tel Aviv and a warehouse in Petah Tikva and has brought in $25 million of aid for the military and civilians and raised over $3 million. Aside from getting general aid, the group has also managed to fill specific requests for equipment by the Home Front Command’s search and rescue unit and the Air Force, and bought three armored ambulances for Israel’s police.

EVOLVING MISSION
As the months passed, the organization realized that needs were changing. While for the first couple of months, it had focused on helping supply the needs of the military and civil emergency response teams, the group has now found that its help is needed more by civilians. While it continues to help the military where needed, the primary focus has shifted elsewhere.

"We had an event recently for 200 displaced families where we collected a whole bunch of clothes in all different sizes that they could go through while the kids were playing," Hazony said.

"We’ve also been doing a lot of social media," he added. "We’ve been making a lot of ’let’s do something’ kinds of videos encouraging people to stand up to tragedy and antisemitism."

Through its work in the past few months, Soldiers Save Lives has gained recognition among Jewish communities in the United States, which Hazony said the organization uses to further its social influence, including by arranging to speak with Birthright groups visiting Israel.

"We realized that we had a responsibility [to use our influence] and it just became one of our programs," he said. "[We’re] not necessarily... telling the world that Jews are good. That’s not what we’re doing. It’s more about inspiring Jews to take action than it is about inspiring non-Jews about Jews."

While the organization was born from the needs of the war, Hazony said it was important to him that its work continues when the fighting ends.

"We’re becoming about social influence and about doing something and fighting antisemitism on some level," he said.

When the war ends, Hazony said, he hopes the organization will continue its aid by providing assistance to amputees and people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as continuing to provide aid in Israel wherever they are needed.

"There’s also our whole [social influence] educational program going on that I hope will go on forever because I think that’s very important," he said. "I’m not exactly sure where we’re going to go, but as import winds down, social influence will go up."

In the meantime, one event Soldiers Save Lives is organizing is an event for survivors of the Supernova music festival who have created art expressing their feelings about their ordeal. The survivors will take their art to New York, where they will speak about their experience and sell their work.

As for Hazony’s future, he said his October 7 experience has slightly dampened his "intense medic energy."

"As a medic, it’s always been my instinct to run and help anyone who needs it, and I’ve realized lately that if I see someone who needs help and there’s already a medic there, I’m like, ’Alright, they’re good. I don’t need to bother them,'" he said.

Once he has finished his degree, Hazony hopes to continue volunteering for MDA after completing an ambulance driver course. Ultimately, however, he hopes to become a teacher. But whatever he does, he intends to continue his work with Soldiers Save Lives.

"We have a responsibility to keep working," he said.

Hamas leaders said looking at leaving Qatar amid growing pressure in hostage talks
"Curley-toed slippers don’t fail me now!"
[IsraelTimes] Hamas’s political chiefs are exploring moving their base of operations out of Qatar, The Wall Street Journal reports, as the Gulf state is increasingly being pressed to prod the terror group in indirect hostage-for-truce negotiations with Israel.

Citing Arab officials, the report says Hamas has recently contacted two regional countries about having its leaders live there, one of which is Oman.

"The talks have already stalled again with barely any signs or prospects for them to resume any time soon, and distrust is rising between Hamas and the negotiators," an Arab mediator is quoted as saying by the newspaper.

Another Arab mediator warns "the possibility of the talks being upended entirely is very real," with the report saying Hamas leaders have faced threats of expulsion if they don’t agree to a hostage deal.

#4  Turkey is undependable. When the Muslim Brotherhood was expelled from Egypt by al-Sisi, it tried to re-form in Turkey. However, when many of its leaders understood they were being used they moved to Europe. As Erdogan becomes more and more unpopular it would not be wise for Hamas (an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood) to relocate there. Plus, there is the well-known fact that Turkey's intelligence services have been infiltrated by the CIA.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 19, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title
.
[Korrespondent] 21:56 The leader of the Democratic majority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, said that he is ready to support a package of bills with the allocation of aid to Ukraine after it is approved by the House of Representatives. According to Schumer, if the House of Representatives approves a package of national security laws, including additional funding for Ukraine, the Senate will “soon send” it to Biden for signature.

21:15 In the Odessa region, Russia today attacked two terminals in the port of Yuzhny, specializing in the transshipment of agricultural products, with missiles, the Ministry of Infrastructure reported. One of the terminals belongs to the world famous Singaporean company Delta Wilmar. As a result of the missile attack, containers with agricultural products that were supposed to be exported to Asian and African countries were destroyed. This is already the 39th attack by Russia on port infrastructure facilities in the Odessa region - 215 facilities, 153 vehicles, eight civilian ships were damaged and partially destroyed, and 26 civilians were injured.

21:42 The Pentagon is ready to send a military package to Ukraine immediately after the vote in Congress, said US Department of Defense Speaker Patrick Ryder. According to him, this package will include, in particular, air defense and artillery assets.

19:58 The US House of Representatives supported the introduction of a bill to help Ukraine in the amount of more than $60 billion. The final vote will take place on Saturday, April 20.

19:34 Zelensky said that he was in the Dnieper and held a meeting on the situation in the region, the protection of the Dnieper, all cities and communities in the region. Heard reports on critical infrastructure facilities, construction of protective structures, restoration and modernization of energy facilities.

19:09 During the day on April 19, four Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAVs were destroyed in the Odessa region, the Air Force reported.

18:57 The Netherlands will allocate more than 200 million euros for new initiatives to quickly supply Ukraine with ammunition for air defense and artillery, the country’s Ministry of Defense announced following a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council. In addition, the Netherlands will purchase air defense systems for Ukraine for 60 million euros. We are talking about short-range air defense systems that can be used, in particular, to combat drones.

18:42 At a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, Zelensky voiced five priorities that he asks his partners to focus on:

  • For defense, Ukraine needs at least seven more Patriot or similar air defense systems - they can save many lives and really change the situation.

  • A million artillery shells for Ukraine must finally be delivered to the front line.

  • Long-range capabilities. “It’s absurd when partners are afraid of their own strength. The more long-range weapons our fighters have in their hands, the closer peace is. Long-range missiles and artillery are now very much needed on the front line,” the president emphasized.

  • Aviation. “If we have a coalition of fighters, then we need a sufficient number of aircraft to actually defeat the Russian air fleet. It is not a matter of the number of promises, but the actual number of aircraft in the sky,” Zelensky added.

  • The fifth point is speed. “This year we cannot wait for decisions to be made. I ask you to consider our request for your determination as soon as possible - each of its elements,” the head of state noted and added that “Putin must be brought down from heaven to earth, and our heaven must become safe again."

18:15 Last week the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading bill No. 11079-1 on the mobilization of convicts. The document provides for voluntary participation in hostilities, but at the same time, desire alone, as people’s deputies explain, will not be enough - you need to meet the requirements for military service. The priority for mobilization is corrupt officials and those convicted of murdering one person. For more details, see the article Who will be given the weapon .

18:11 Blinken said that China is the main supplier of critical components for Russia's war against Ukraine: “When it comes to the Russian military-industrial complex, the main participant is currently China. 5 shot during senior skip day water gun fight in Greenbelt, Maryland
[WUSA9] GREENBELT, Md. — Police in Prince George's County are investigating after multiple people were shot in the Greenbelt area near Schrom Hills Recreation Center. Police believe it began as a senior skip day for students across multiple high schools in the area.

Investigators with Greenbelt Police say a group of roughly 600 people had planned the water gun fight in Bowie Friday afternoon. Bowie Police and Prince George's County Police dispersed the group, who made its way to Schrom Hills Park in Greenbelt.
Bringing guns to a water pistol fight? That seems excessive.

Israeli official tells CNN that Israel not behind strike on pro-Iran militias in Iraq
[IsraelTimes] Israel has no connection to blasts in Iraq this evening, an Israeli official tells CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
, after an Iraqi coalition of pro-Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
militias said a military base it uses was targeted in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...

Maybe it was ISIS, or some seriously peeved Iraqi tribals… At any rate, the attack apparently came from inside their house.
One said killed in ‘bombing’ of Iraqi military base used by pro-Iran militias
[IsraelTimes] A huge blast rocks a military base used by Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces to the south of Baghdad, two PMF and two security sources tell Rooters.
The two security sources say the blast was a result of an unknown Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
, which happened around midnight.

The two PMF sources point out the strikes did not lead to casualties but caused material damage. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
an Iraqi interior ministry source quoted by AFP says the "bombing" killed one person and maimed eight others.

Sources in the PMF, also known as the Hashed al-Shaabi, say the strikes targeted a headquarters of the Iran-backed grouping of militias at the Kalso military base, near the town of Iskandariya
... named after Alexander the Great, today it's a mostly Sunni-inhabited slum ...
around 50 kilometers south of Baghdad.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Over 5,000 Palestinians arrested by Zionist forces since beginning of Gaza offensive
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The government media office in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip announced on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation army has arrested more than 5,000 Paleostinians since it began its ongoing devastating war on the Strip more than six months ago.

In a statement, the office added: "We commemorate Paleostinian Prisoner’s Day this year (April 7 annually) in light of the continuation of the genocidal war waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip."

This war left more than 110,000 dead and maimed, most of them children and women, and massive destruction and famine claimed the lives of children and the elderly, according to Paleostinian and UN data.

The office continued: "Paleostinian prisoners are still subjected to the worst types of retaliatory measures, which aim to deprive them of their most basic rights."

It stated that "during the war, the Israeli occupation arrested more than 5,000 prisoners from the Gaza Strip alone, bringing the number of prisoners inside the occupation prisons to approximately 10,000 prisoners."

Paleostinian and international human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
organizations accuse the Israeli occupation of practicing enforced disappearance against Gaza prisoners and not disclosing their number or the places and conditions of their detention, in conjunction with media reports that a number of them were killed as a result of torture.

US imposes sanctions on two Israeli entities
[GEO.TV] The United States has imposed sanctions on two Israeli entities for helping raise tens of thousands of dollars for two sanctioned settlers in the occupied West Bank.In a statement, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo said: "Such acts by these organizations undermine the peace, security, and stability of the West Bank. We will continue to use our tools to hold those responsible accountable."

According to the treasury, the Mount Hebron Fund launched an online fundraising campaign that raised $140,000 for settler Yinon Levi after he was sanctioned on February 1 for leading a group of violent mostly peaceful settlers who assaulted Paleostinian and Bedouin civilians, Al Jazeera reported.

The second entity, Shlom Asiraich, raised $31,000 on a crowdfunding website for David Chai Chasdai, who the US said initiated and led a riot in Huwara that resulted in the death of a Paleostinian civilian.

Africa North
Over 50,000 displaced in North Darfur following militia attacks
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied Arab militias have displaced over 50,000 people from 30 villages west of El Fasher, North Darfur’s capital.

The attacks, targeting villages inhabited by the Zaghawa ethnic group, began on April 6th and lasted three days. They resulted in deaths, burning of villages, looting, and mass displacement. The displaced have fled to Tawila and El Fasher, as well as the town of Shakra, 10 10km west of the state capital.

Abdel Hafiz al-Ghali, head of the Initiative to Support the Displaced Persons of West El Fasher Villages, told Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Tribune: "The recent attacks displaced over 50,000 people from 31 villages."

Al-Ghali e added that these newly displaced people are facing harsh conditions in Shakra, lacking shelter, food, medicine, and even clean drinking water.

Local volunteers have begun providing some assistance, but the scale of the crisis necessitates international intervention. al-Ghali issued a "distress call" for international organizations to step up and deliver essential supplies to the displaced population.

The incident raises concerns about escalating ethnic violence between the Zaghawa and Arab communities in North Darfur. This tension is fuelled by the growing polarization between the RSF and armed movements supported by the Sudanese military, both of which have a strong presence in the region.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
No respite from deadly heat in Mali and elsewhere in the Sahel
[AFRICANEWS] In Mali, as elsewhere in West Africa, there is no respite from the searing heatwave which has descended on the region.
It can get hot in Africa in the summer? Who woulda thunkit?
Souleymane Samake is a presenter at Benbakan community radio station on the outskirts of the capital, Bamako.

He says most of its listeners are farmers and many of his broadcasts are currently focused on the weather.

“The provisional weather forecast predicts 41 degrees during the day. So, this interval will last for a week. Let's be careful don't go out, we must protect ourselves against this heat,” he tells listeners.

During a break between broadcasts, Samake says the heat is abnormally high, which is why “it is important for us to provide precise information”.

While it is the hot season, this year, temperatures in Mali, as elsewhere in the Sahel, are reaching record levels.

On top of hotter temperatures, the country is also suffering under an unprecedented electricity crisis that began last year, leaving citizens with no respite from the heat.

It is also having an impact on the country’s ubiquitous ice sellers, often patronised by those looking to cool drinks during the hot season.

With lots of areas receiving less than six hours of electricity per day, many of them have gone out of business.

Djeneba Dembele has been able to continue selling ice due to a combination of solar power and a generator.

One of her clients, Dramane Traore, stopped by to buy two bags of ice.

“We are at 32 or 35 degrees. By 2pm, it will be 40 degrees. It’s unbearable, it’s so hot right now,” he says.

Experts say the deadly heatwave, the worst in living memory, is linked to climate change.

Pampered entitled f*cks. Consequences
[NY Post] It takes privilege to protest at Columbia.

The 114 anti-Israel protesters who were busted at Columbia on Thursday include members of the upper crust: an intern for New York State Attorney General Letitia James — and the daughter of a prominent UPS executive who killed an elderly couple with her truck as a teenager and got off with a slap on the wrist.

A Post deep-dive into the backgrounds of the protesters shows many list multimillion-dollar mansions as their home addresses, according to arrest records, and come from wealthy and powerful families.

Many are students at Barnard College, Columbia University’s liberal arts sister school.

Others are career activists with multiple arrests under their belts.

[The Warzone] While it's fair to say we've seen our share of impressive lineups of B-2 Spirit stealth bombers in the past, including their involvement in elephant walks as well as amassed at foreign airbases, it's not every day that 12 B-2s take to the sky in succession.

That's exactly what happened at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, on April 15, when a dozen B-2s took part in a mass fly-off exercise. This was so many of the bombers that none of the official pictures from the event, seen at the top of this story and below, show all 12 aircraft at once. This represents the majority of the total number of B-2s currently operated by the Air Force, which stands at 20 aircraft, per the service, although one is damaged during a landing incident at the base and another is still undergoing repairs from a similar incident. Of that number, typically only 11 or 12 are actually "deployed" under the terms of the New START treaty with Russia and are available for combat missions.

Regardless, the type is extremely maintenance intensive and is the most expensive direct combat airframe to fly in the USAF's inventory. Having 12 of these jets available at any given time to take to the skies at all is highly impressive.

Man Threatened With Arrest At pro-Paleo Rally For ‘Looking Openly Jewish’, another for ‘Hamas is Terrorist’ sign

After having manhandled him and the resulting internet uproar:
London cops apologize for implying Jewish man’s kippa ‘provoked’ anti-Israel crowd
[IsraelTimes] Filmed incident of officer stopping man in yarmulke from approaching pro-Palestinian march while ‘openly Jewish’ escalates into media blunder for police.

UK Police Arrest Iranian Man for ‘Hamas Is Terrorist’ Sign
[PJMedia] In the UK, you can now apparently be arrested for calling murderous holy warriors what they are. God help the West.
Freedom-loving Iranians are among Israel’s greatest supporters. Like Israel, they know what it's like to fight a terrorist regime (their own jihad-funding government) and receive no real sympathy or aid from Western democracies. When Niyak Ghorbani showed up to an anti-Israel, pro-Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
protest, police clustered about him and harassed, threatened, and finally arrested him. Breitbart reported that the Iranian man has been arrested at protests a number of times and that anti-Israel activists have tried to assault him.

In the video, he appears at one point to try to pull his sign out of an officer’s hands, at which point several grab hold of him, and one starts yelling in his face.

"Yesterday, with permission from the court granted to display the ’Hamas
...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
is a terrorist organization’ placard at a Paleostinian supporters' rally, I went to Parliament Square," he posted on April 18. "Initially, the police approached me and asked which group I supported, to which I clearly stated, ’I support the laws of UK.’" Apparently, that is no longer an acceptable position in the UK.

Ghorbani went on, "They then insisted on examining the content of the banner I was carrying. After a few minutes of conversation, I was convinced to open the banner and show it to the police." Unfortunately, the situation escalated quickly from there.

To my utter disbelief, the police stated that this content would disrupt public order and that I would be "arrested if I stepped out of the green space and mingled among the demonstrators in the street!" I told him he couldn't, but he said he could! (Of course, I considered the law when I told him he couldn't, but I didn't know the police, who enforce and protect the law, would resort to unlawful means for arrest!) Nevertheless, I stayed put as warned and didn't step off the grass. As soon as I opened the banner, three coppers surrounded me and tried to grab the banner. When I resisted their attempts to pull the banner, two coppers violent mostly peacefully handcuffed my hands, twisting and turning the handcuffs in a completely brutal manner. As I screamed in pain, one of the officers forcefully pressed the handcuffs upward in a "completely brutal" manner while twisting them!

Throughout the ordeal, even inside the police van, the violence continued to the extent that my hands were maimed.

The video does show Ghorbani beginning to shout loudly, claiming his hand is broken and adding, "shame on you," as a whole mob of police arrest him. Since he did not get violent mostly peaceful and only began yelling very loudly and energetically after he was arrested, it is not clear why so many officers were focusing on him. Ghorbani does appear to be in pain as the police hastily rush him away, but it is not clear how much his hand was injured.

In the van, I was in so much pain that I told them I felt my hand was broken and asked them to open it, but they paid no attention and only slightly loosened the handcuff on my left hand, but I was still in pain and begged them to loosen the handcuffs, but they ignored me. After about 20 minutes of detention, while still in the police van in the Kensington area, I was informed that I was free and should leave the van now! I requested that they return my banner and take me back to Parliament Square, but both of my requests were rejected! I got out of the police van and immediately returned to the square by taxi, carrying another banner with the same content, this time with the support of two coppers with blue hi-vis vests.

Ghorbani concluded his post, "Yes, I fought for the people of UK, for the people of Israel, for the honorable and brave people of Iran, and to show the truth, and ultimately for my dignity, to prove to you what situation you are in, and if you don't wake up, you will [have] Iran[’s] experience 1979 in UK." He is referring to the bloody rise of the dictatorial Islamic Theocratic Republic regime still controlling Iran. "The people of Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Israel will soon destroy the Islamic Theocratic Republic and Hamas. What will the future hold for the people of UK?" Ghorbani added.

A Westminster Police statement on Twitter/X declared, "Officers arrested a man for a suspected public order offence in relation to a sign he was carrying. It was quickly established that the man should not have been arrested and the wording on the banner did not constitute an offence. He was de-arrested a short time later."
At the link: Tweets from Mr. Ghorbani about this story and from an astonishingly beautiful young Iranian girl about how the Iranian people do not support the Mullah’s war against Israel.

'More ancient than the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.' Historical finds in the Tver region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

[REGNUM] At the end of March, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the city of Torzhok, Tver Region. This was his first trip since the March 17 presidential elections. It is significant that this ancient Russian city, located between Moscow and St. Petersburg, was chosen for the visit. The cultural and historical part of Vladimir Putin’s visit to Torzhok will have a serious continuation - federal money will go to the city for the development of those same historical and cultural spheres. Confirmation that Torzhok is worthy to join the ranks of the most ancient historical centers along with Veliky Novgorod and Pskov was the exhibition in the Museum Rows of the All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum, which the President inspected.

Tehran signals no retaliation against Israel after drones attack Iran
A wise decision.
[GEO.TV] Explosions echoed over an Iranian city on Friday in what sources described as an Israeli attack, but Tehran played down the incident and indicated it had no plans for retaliation - a response that appeared gauged towards averting region-wide war.

Iranian media and officials described a small number of explosions, which they said resulted from Iran's air defences hitting three drones over the city of Isfahan. Notably, they referred to the incident as an attack by "infiltrators", rather than by Israel, obviating the need for retaliation.

A senior Iranian official told Rooters there were no plans to respond against Israel for the incident.

"The foreign source of the incident has not been confirmed. We have not received any external attack, and the discussion leans more towards infiltration than attack," the official said.

Kenya's military chief dies in a helicopter crash, Nairobi declares three days of national mourning
[AFRICANEWS] Kenya’s military chief Gen. Francis Ogolla died in a helicopter crash west of the country, President William Ruto announced Thursday and declared three days of national mourning.

The helicopter was carrying 11 people, including Gen. Ogolla, when it crashed Thursday and caught fire in a remote area near the border with Uganda, killing nine people onboard, the president said.

It is unclear what caused the crash.

Gen. Ogolla, 61, was on a tour of the country’s troubled western region that has seen frequent attacks by local bandidos.

He was appointed Kenya’s Chief of Defense Forces in April last year after Gen. Robert Kibochi retired.

Political controversy surrounded Ogolla even before his appointment, when he was accused by the country’s electoral commission chairperson as being part of a national security council delegation that tried to influence the outcome of the 2022 general election against President Ruto.

Ruto later explained that he called Gen. Ogolla before his appointment and said that, despite the election controversy, he was the most qualified for the job.

Gen Ogolla joined Kenya’s military force 40 years ago.

He was a graduate of École Militaire de Gay Paree, the National Defence College of Kenya, Egerton University and the University of Nairobi.

Gen. Ogolla is survived by his wife Aileen, two children and a grandson.

Estonian intelligence: Russia has increased the number of attacks in all directions of the front and has heavy losses in the bat
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[LB] The Donetsk direction remains the main one for the offensive actions of the occupying forces.

by Vera Perun

In recent days, the number of Russian attacks has increased on all front lines in Ukraine, the intelligence center of the Estonian Defense Forces reported in its weekly summary, ERR reports.

Russia achieved some success: it made a tactical breakthrough northwest of Avdiivka, and also advanced 5 km. Near Chasovoy Yar, the invaders advanced from the southern flank. Frequent attacks and maintenance of the operational tempo indicate that the Russians are maintaining the initiative, which puts the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a difficult position.

Estonian intelligence emphasized that the Armed Forces need the support of Western partners, there is a noticeable shortage of ammunition. There is no unplanned retreat of the Armed Forces or breakthrough of the front line. Ukraine is forced to gradually relinquish control of territories where there are no prepared defensive positions or the possibility of defensive actions.

No significant changes are recorded between the settlements of Kreminna and Liman. Occupiers continue to reorganize units. This means that units that are on the front line go to the rear to restore and replenish supplies.

The Donetsk direction remains the main one for the offensive actions of the occupying forces. They continue their attempts to encircle and capture the settlement of Chasiv Yar west of Bakhmut. However, the city has powerful defensive fortifications, so the attacker suffers heavy losses in battles. A quick capture of the settlement is not expected.

Intense fighting is taking place in the Avdiyivka-Marinka direction. Russia advanced towards the settlement of Pervomaiske.

On the southern front line - in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions - low intensity of fighting is maintained.

How much money is needed to live comfortably in US?
[GEO.TV] The inflation data earlier this month suggested that the prices of the US consumer goods are high by 3.5% as people are feeling the heat of the surge in Consumer Price Index (CPI), reported CNBC.

As the purchasing power decreases, people have started wondering how much money is enough to live a comfortable life in the US, and the estimation by SmartAsset analysis showed that one needs to earn more than six figures.

According to the report, the word "comfortable" is defined as someone who could bear the expenses of the 50/30/20 budget can live such a life.

In the numbers, 50% goes for house utilities, 30% goes for other spending, and 20% is specified for savings.

CNBC calculated an amount according to different states and their living costs and underlined five states in which life is expensive for single workers. Here are those five states and the money needed per year to comfortably sustain life.

  • Massachusetts: $116,022

  • Hawaii: $113,693

  • Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,: $113,651

  • New York: $111,738

  • Washington: $106,496

According to data from Labour Burea, for a comfortable life in these states, one needs to double than average of around $60,000 — which is the median income for single full-time employees.

The national figure for median income is $89,461, rendering the 50/30/20 budget impractical.

The report also mentioned that living with someone costs less than living alone as spending increases twofold.

In these times, living alone means you need to keep everything in budget, from cost of living to transportation and discretionary spending.

According to Forbes in January of this year, New York State, California, and Illinois lost the most population, followed — in no particular order — by Oregon, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Hawaii.
From the referenced CNBC article, which has the income needed for that income split for a single person to live comfortably in every state, the summation:
The national median for living comfortably alone is $89,461, which suggests that a 50/30/20 budget might not be practical for most single people.
Nor has it ever been. Single people historically have gotten married or brought in roommates to share costs in order to be able to live comfortably.

Researchers find 'pronounced' biological benefits in women after giving birth
Sorry, guys. These benefits are only available to bio-females who were born that way, not to those who later discover that they identify as women.
[Blaze via WND] Researchers have discovered that pregnancy delivers a special gift to mothers — and it's not only their newborns. Last month, a new study published in Cell Metabolism, a peer-reviewed scientific journal, showed that scientists have confirmed what previous studies have shown: Pregnancy takes a toll on a woman's body in terms of her biological age.

In other words, pregnancy accelerates aging. But researchers also found that any acceleration can be greatly reversed postpartum.

Researchers tracked more than 100 women through their pregnancies, taking blood samples to measure their biological age and other epigenetic markers. They found the physiological stress from pregnancy accelerated biological age by several years.

But when those same women were studied three months postpartum, researchers found a "pronounced reversal of biological aging," according to the study.

"The magnitude of the decrease in maternal biological age from the pregnant to non-pregnant state was about 2 to 3 times more than the increase in biological age from early to late pregnancy," the study said.

Dr. Kieran O'Donnell, an assistant professor at Yale who helped conduct the study, explained:

At three months postpartum, we saw a remarkably large decrease in biological age, by as much as eight years for some individuals, so while pregnancy increases biological age there is a clear (and pronounced) recovery in the postpartum.
Importantly, researchers found that women who breastfed after delivery experienced a greater reversal in biological age.

By contrast, a higher body-mass index negatively impacted the reversal. That means women already experiencing poor metabolic health cannot tap into the fountain of youth that pregnancy apparently provides.

Russian Expert Dolgov: Israel's strike on Iran will not lead to a big war
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Israel is not prepared for a major war with Iran without US support, and one of the main objectives in striking Iran on the night of April 19 was to signal the resolve of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 's cabinet. However, neither side is ready for a big war in the region. Experts shared this assessment with a Regnum news agency correspondent, commenting on the information that Israel carried out drone strikes on Iranian territory.

Leading researcher at the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Boris Dolgov, noted that Israel’s strike on Iran was clearly not as powerful as some observers feared. And one of the key goals was another attempt to involve the United States in a confrontation with Iran.

Russian Embassy condemned Germany's request not to participate in commemorative ceremonies
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Germany's appeal to the Russian Embassy in Berlin with a request to refrain from participating in commemorative events on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of German concentration camps is disappointing, the Russian diplomatic mission said on April 19.

“This position causes deep regret and disappointment. Dictated by considerations of the current political situation, it completely ignores the historical context... does not correspond to the spirit of the successful long-term cooperation of our countries in the military memorial sphere,” says a commentary published on the official website of the embassy.
“How dare you resent our noble rescue of Germany from the Nazis as a partially successful attempt to conquer you for the glories of Soviet Communism!”
The diplomatic mission emphasized that Berlin’s actions run counter to German cultural memory and contribute to the erosion of the process of post-war reconciliation between peoples.

It’s not like they could make the situation worse…
"Why not? I believe that for this we can use the eastern region, which is very vast, which is located at a very great distance and where there are many negative forces,” he said in an interview with the RTVI YouTube channel.

According to the President of the Central African Republic, this could help ensure the security of the country’s borders and help cover the republic’s army.

Biden to kill project that could end China's dominance of rare-earth minerals
[Just The News] he Biden administration is expected this week to deny approval of an Alaskan road that would provide access to potential mining opportunities in a very remote region of the state.

The Ambler Access Road project is a proposed 211-mile gravel road that would connect a mining district in west-central Alaska to the Dalton Highway that runs through the middle of the state. The operations in the mining district could provide a steady domestic supply of copper, zinc, lead, gold, silver and cobalt, which are strategic elements needed for manufacturing wind turbines, solar panels, transmission lines, and electric vehicle batteries.

Former President Donald Trump had approved the permit to build the road in 2020, but after Biden was elected, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland ordered a new analysis, arguing that the Trump-era studies had been inadequate.

In a bipartisan effort, Alaska’s Congressional delegation supports the project. In December, Republican Senators Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski, along with the state’s Democratic Representative Mary Sattler Peltola, sent a letter to Haaland urging the analysis be conducted quickly and the road project re-approved.

The delegates noted in the letter that the Interior Department voluntarily pursued the review of the Trump administration’s environmental impact statement for the road on the same day Biden held a summit stressing the need for critical minerals.

"It is remarkable that during these dangerous times, the Biden Administration continues to focus on sanctioning Alaska and Alaskans while lifting sanctions on terrorist regimes like Iran," Sullivan said in a statement emailed to Just The News.

Africa North
West African Sahel is becoming a drug smuggling corridor, UN warns, as seizures skyrocket
[AFRICANEWS] Drug seizures soared in the West African Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
according to figures released Friday in a new U.N. report, indicating the conflict-ridden region is becoming an influential route for drug trafficking.
Didn’t that used to be Al Qaeda in North Africa’s gig, bringing the drugs in from Latin America to traffic in Europe?
SHARP INCREASE IN COCAINE SEIZURES
In 2022, 1,466 kilograms, (3,232 pounds), of cocaine were seized in Mali, Chad, Burkina Faso
...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who's just doing a bang-up job unless he's already been deposed...
, and Niger compared to an average of 13 kilograms (28.7 pounds) between 2013 and 2020, said the report from the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime.

RECORD-BREAKING SEIZURE IN SENEGAL
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
Cocaine is the most seized drug in the Sahel after cannabis resin, the report said. The analysis comes as Senegal, which borders on the Sahel, announced Sunday a record-breaking cocaine seizure of 1,137 kilograms — the most ever intercepted on land and valued at $146 million — near an artisanal mine in the east of the country. Incidents like this are becoming more common in the region: In one incident last year in December, the Senegalese navy seized a total of 3 tons of cocaine at sea.

GEOPOLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE SAHEL
The location of the Sahel, lying south of the Sahara desert and running from the Atlantic to the Arabian Ocean, makes it a natural transit point for the increasing amount of cocaine produced in South America and destined for Europe. The trafficking has detrimental impacts for both peace and health, locally and globally, said Amado Philip de Andrés, UNODC Regional Representative in West and Central Africa.

"The involvement of various gangs in drug trafficking continues to undermine peace and stability in the region," said Philip de Andrés. The report said the drug trade provides financial resources to gangs in the Sahel, where Islamic murderous Moslem networks have flourished as the region struggles with a recent spate of coups.

EMERGING TRENDS
Increased trafficking networks in the region are spilling out onto local markets and leading to higher drug consumption, said Lucia Bird, director of the West Africa Observatory of illicit economies at the Global Initiative against Transnational Organized Crime.

"We've had reports of rising crack cocaine consumption in Agadez, Niger driven by payment in kind," said Bird. "Smaller traffickers get paid in drugs and offload it onto local markets because they don't have the contacts in more lucrative consumption destinations."

A patrol in southwest Niger on Monday intercepted a shipment of cannabis and Tramadol, an opioid painkiller pill, worth $50,000, according to a national TV announcement.

Another significant trend in the region is the direct exchange of Moroccan hashish for South American cocaine via West Africa, said Bird. This arrangement — which has been developing since 2020 — bypasses the need for cash payments and exploits differences in the prices of drugs across continents, she explained, adding that this increases the number of drugs trafficked overland which transit from West African ports across some of the most conflict-affected areas of the Sahel.

ENABLERS OF DRUG TRAFFICKING
Corruption and money laundering are major enablers of drug trafficking and recent seizures and arrests revealed that political elite, community leaders, and leaders of gangs facilitate the drug trade in the Sahel, the UN report added.

"States in the Sahel region — along with the international community — must take urgent, coordinated, and comprehensive action to dismantle drug trafficking networks," said Leonardo Santos Simão, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israelis were targeting an air defense radar site near Isfahan that's part of the protection of the Natanz nuclear facility
[TWITTER]

The Times of Israel adds:
An alleged Israeli strike in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
overnight Thursday-Friday went beyond the scope of several small drones described by Tehran, US media reported later Friday. The strike reportedly included three missiles launched by Israeli Air Force warplanes that targeted an air defense radar site near Isfahan that was part of an array defending the nearby top-secret Natanz nuclear site.

The reports, first published by ABC, cited a US official as saying that the missiles were fired from outside of Iranian airspace.

According to the ABC report, the strike was "very limited." It said that according to an initial assessment, the strike took out the radar site, but the assessment had not yet been completed.

The ABC report did not say if the missiles were in addition to the drones reported by Iran.

A New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

report late on Friday, which also said Israeli planes fired the missiles, noted that the new information suggested that the Israel strike "included more advanced firepower than initial reports indicated."

The Times said it was "not immediately clear the types of missiles used, from where they were fired, whether any were intercepted by Iran’s defenses or where they landed."

Iran had claimed earlier that three small drones were involved in the attack on Isfahan. State TV said that the small aircraft were destroyed by air defenses, and it made no mention of any missiles or damage in the attack.

Authorities said air defenses fired at a major air base in Isfahan, which long has been home to Iran’s fleet of American-made F-14 Tomcats — purchased before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Israel has not officially commented on the strike.

#3  1/2 measures.

I wonder...
An air strike typically has two phases. First comes the suppression of enemy air defense (buzzword: SEAD) where the SAM sites get jammed and/or whacked, followed by the main strike package that blows the target(s) to hell and gone. Being a big whoop dee doo, it's hard to ignore or deny it happened. And generally, everyone know who done it.

One the other hand, suppose the exact same events play out in slow motion. An AD radar blows up near Isfahan, for example. No one takes credit and the victims can blame it on an accident or insurgents or whatever. They don't need to respond because no one claimed the deed and no one is losing face. A week or two later, a similar thing happens. Over time, air defense systems are removed from the board, when suddenly all hell breaks loose and important things are blowing up everywhere all at once.

tl;dr: What if we are witnessing a slow-motion response to the Iranian attack? They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Maybe it is even better on small plates.

The fate of the former flight attendant and now political officer of a motorized rifle company, Anna Ilyasova, in some ways repeats thousands of other fates of people who ten years ago chose to stay with Donbass. Rapid Support Forces blamed for killing hundreds in central Sudan
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Madani Resistance® Committees, a neighbourhood activists group in the al-central Sudan

It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. Following the takeover in December 2023, RSF members were accused of severe human rights

violations against civilians, including killings, forced displacement, intimidation, and sexual violence.

In a statement on Thursday, the Resistance® Committees, known for monitoring abuses, said, "For four months, the RSF has inflicted horrific abuses across al-Jazira, leaving over 800 dead and thousands injured. The escalating sexual violence against women and kiddies threatens a social catastrophe."

The local group emphasizes the systematic nature of the crimes against unarmed civilians. It also criticizes the deliberate disruption of communication networks and internet services for three months, crippling daily life, banking, and essential goods access.

In February, both the military and RSF blamed each other for the nationwide shutdown. Some telecommunications companies partially restored services in eastern Sudan, but coverage remains patchy.

The Resistance® Committees further condemned the military’s indiscriminate Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s using explosive barrels in civilian areas, violating international law. They dismissed claims by the military about regaining control as mere "propaganda" aimed at deploying poorly trained personnel for power grabs.

In a separate development, the Hasahisa Resistance® Committees, citing western Madani and rural Tabet eyewitnesses, reported looting, property destruction, and assaults on farmers by the RSF. They are accused of obstructing wheat harvest, aiming to impoverish and displace citizens.

These actions threaten food security and lives. The statement urges international organizations to deliver aid effectively to al-Jazira’s residents.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported a 46% decline in Sudan’s crop production, including wheat, due to conflict, insecurity, and limited access to expensive agricultural resources.

The garrison in Avdievka was supplied through Karlovka for a long time, and now the village is an outpost of the Ukrainian Armed Forces between the attack trajectory of the Russian army and a cascade of water barriers - the Karlovka Reservoir and the Vovcha River, along which the Ukrainian Armed Forces dug in after the fall of Avdievka.

In the future, this may lead to the fact that first the southern line of defense will be under threat, and then the northern one. Ukrainian troops can try to hold them with a counterattack similar to the attack on Berdychi-Semyonovka, but if the operation fails, the area to a depth of 20-25 kilometers will probably have to be abandoned.

#1  And Bandera found a permanent home in Munich. How quaint.

#2  They obviously didn't do a good job because Ukrainian nationalism is still going strong today. It cost us plenty. The Federal Reserve had to run the printing presses day and night to print enough money to pay for Ukrainian independence.

#3  And the irony is, the independence the Ukrainians may have garnered from the old USSR has turned into a dictatorship not much different than the Ukrainian SSR days.

#4  In Munich lie Steven Bandera,
A long-buried ghost, and his error...
Should anyone care.
And in Moscow? Well, there
Rises still... Stalin, titan of terror! /reverb
