Government Corruption
Former FBI Russian collusion investigator charged with Russian collusion.
See also here. [WashingtonFreeBeacon] Charles McGonigal is accused of conspiring to lift sanctions off Russian businessman with ties to Vladimir Putin.

A former FBI official involved in the investigation of the Trump campaign’s possible ties to Russia was charged Monday for violating sanctions on behalf of a Russian oligarch sanctioned by the U.S. government.

Charles McGonigal, who led the FBI’s counterintelligence division in New York, is accused of violating U.S. sanctions on behalf of Oleg Deripaska, a Russian aluminum magnate with close ties to Vladimir Putin. According to prosecutors, McGonigal and a former Russian diplomat conspired to have sanctions removed from Deripaska in 2021. They also investigated another Russian oligarch "in return for concealed payments" from Deripaska. Their effort was unsuccessful as Deripaska remains under sanctions. McGonigal, who was arrested on Monday, allegedly received $225,000 from a former Russian intelligence officer while he was still employed by the FBI.

The indictment marks a surprising twist given McGonigal’s involvement with the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s links to Russia. As a top counterintelligence official, McGonigal was one of the first individuals at the FBI to learn that a Trump campaign adviser had discussed Hillary Clinton’s emails with a foreign diplomat. The FBI opened its investigation of the Trump campaign based on that conversation, but later found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

McGonigal, who left the FBI in 2018, was involved in the bureau’s probe of Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, according to text messages released by Senate Republicans. "Our Team is currently talking to [Carter Page] re Russia," he wrote on March 16, 2017, to an FBI colleague.

It is unclear what other involvement McGonigal had in the Trump-Russia probe. But that investigation also scrutinized Deripaska’s relationship with former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort. Manafort and Deripaska had business dealings in Ukraine and maintained contact during the 2016 campaign.

Deripaska also has ties to former British spy Christopher Steele, who alleged in an infamous dossier that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election. The FBI relied heavily on Steele’s dossier for its investigation, but failed to verify the collusion allegations. Deripaska once hired Steele to work on a "research project" on his behalf.

Georgia Bulldogs visited strip club with recruiters before tragic auto crash
[FOX] A new report surrounding the fatal car crash that took the lives of Georgia Bulldogs football player Devin Willock and staffer Chandler LeCroy shows footage taken outside a strip club early morning on Jan. 15 that adds some context to the tragic incident.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution acquired footage that shows multiple Georgia players, along with Bulldogs staffers, leaving Toppers International Showbar around 2:30 a.m., 15 minutes before the fatal car crash.

The crash also involved Warren McClendon, a teammate of Willock’s, recruiting staff member Tory Bowles and two female staff members from the club, who were seen leaving with them 30 minutes after the club had closed.

-Land of the Free
Wokeness Is Coming For Classical Christian Education
[Federalist] It’s been a good year for classical Christian education. New school starts are up threefold, a book on classical education became No. 1 on The New York Times bestseller list, and on Jan. 26, Fox Nation will release season two of a popular series on classical Christian education, "The Miseducation of America." Of course, with growth comes attention. What is unusual this time is that someone with ties to our movement — one of our own — draws focus to a growing divide.

On Jan. 12, in the online journal Current, Jessica Hooten Wilson asked, "Is White Supremacy a Bug or a Feature of Classical Christian Education?" It should come as no surprise that, within her mainstream academic ecosphere as a scholar at Pepperdine University, she gets pressure. "I experience regular pushback from those who perceive [classical Christian education] as white, Western-only, and male-dominated." She proceeds to cast aspersions on a few people and organizations — including, indirectly, mine. Her accusations become a pretext for her thesis: "If the classical Christian school movement is to survive — let alone flourish — we must oppose all forms of racism and misogyny and stand with the beauty, goodness, and truth that we hold up for our students." I’ll take her up on that charge.

Hooten Wilson is a staccato note at the end of a new tune within our circles. Her article praises those groups she believes are taking the right steps. So far, I’ve heard no one publicly state the thesis so clearly as she does: "We should peruse the authors of the works and, if applicable, the editors or introductory writers to ensure an assortment of voices ... as well as an equality of both sexes. If we look at the table of contents of a textbook or a reading list for a semester and find not a single woman or person of color in that list, then that curriculum is misrepresenting the classical Christian tradition."

Government Corruption
Rep. Allen To Introduce Legislation Targeting Chinese Military Access To U.S. Research Funding
[Daily Caller] Georgia Republican Rep. Rick Allen is introducing legislation to close loopholes exploited by Chinese military firms to access federal research grants.

Allen’s legislation would prohibit the National Science Foundation (NSF) from providing grants to any individual or entity affiliated with or related to a Chinese military company. The bill is known as the American Science First Act and seeks to prevent the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from exploiting research funded by U.S. taxpayers.

"The American Science First Act takes concrete steps to combat the CCP’s persistent efforts to steal American intellectual property and use it against us," Allen told the Daily Caller.

It Looks Like Biden's Classified Documents Scandal Is About To Explode
[PJ] Joe Biden takes classified documents very seriously, so he says, but even after the search for classified documents has allegedly ended a couple of times now, it’s not yet over.

In the wake of more documents being discovered at Biden’s home in Wilmington, Del., the Department of Justice is now considering expanding its search for classified documents Biden may have absconded with, according to a report from CBS News.

"Justice Department officials are also considering the possibility of conducting other consensual searches at locations linked to Mr. Biden, said the source familiar with the investigation," the report says.

Related: On Classified Documents, Joe Biden Is Out of Excuses

So far, somewhere between 25 and 30 classified documents, some of which are marked top secret, have been discovered in Biden’s possession—either at his home in Wilmington or at his private office at the Penn Biden Center.

The decision to search more places for documents is a troubling development for Joe Biden and the White House team, who have clearly been caught off-guard by a scandal they had hoped to keep under wraps before it was leaked to the media a couple of weeks ago. But what exactly does it mean? Is this merely a precaution, or is the National Archives suddenly aware of missing documents that have yet to be accounted for?

Let’s not forget the National Archives knew what documents Trump had at Mar-a-Lago. So it stands to reason that the National Archives, which was reportedly unaware of the missing documents when Biden’s lawyers first discovered them, has since attempted to determine what else might be missing from Biden’s years as vice president and now believes there’s more out there to be discovered that they cannot account for. Where are these documents? Who knows? What are they about?

Don’t count on us finding out anytime soon. But they might just be sensitive enough that the DOJ, which is run by Biden wingman Merrick Garland, feels the need to conduct more "consensual" searches of locations linked to Joe Biden.

It sure looks like Biden’s classified documents scandal is about to explode.

#1  Like Covid the origins of this scandal may never be cleared up. Who was the initial whistle blower and what were his or her motivations? If they were MAGA, Republican or patriotic this would have spilled externally before the election. Instead there was an internal period of incompetent cleanup that failed and implicated more and more of the administration like a behemoth floundering in a tar pit.
Posted by: Super Hose || 01/23/2023 5:44 Comments || Top||

#2  I still do not believe anything will come of this. The search has already been corrupted; are we going to believe any of the details of the files found? The classified files will all detail Biden’s absolute innocence of all scandals.

#15  Klain will get blamed for the coverup even though it was likely coordinated from a cross town basement. Biden is not going to jail.
This foul up has taken the wind out of the Mar-A-Lago scam and will put Biden in a bad negotiating position with respect to the Congressional investigations and Debt Ceiling fight. I don’t think he will likely escalate the Ukraine mess as popularity for that fight is waning among the American electorate. I think he will eventually exit once his master explains reality to Jill. There will be a waiting period of possibly a year while they get Hunter charged and pardoned in a way that makes future attempts to hold the prodigal accountable for issues missed in the pardon not worthwhile. Joe will need to let the investigations on these issues progress to the Nixon pre-impeachment stage so that Kamala can pardon him. They will also need to have a pre approved VP stooge ready that can clear the House blockade. It will not be any of the lightening rods. Gerald Ford was a lib GOP bozo that nobody had strong objection to.

How Al Gore Amassed a $330 Million Climate Fortune by Terrifying Everyone
[Red State] Former Vice President and 2000 presidential election loser Al Gore has spent his post-political career warning anyone who will listen that the earth is in its death throes due to global warming (now called climate change because somehow that’s better).

His 2006 documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" amassed $49 million at the world box office and catapulted Al into the top ranks of climate hysterics, and he’s never looked back, constantly jetting to meetings around the world to preach his truth.

This week he’s at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, because of course he is.

Is he doing this because he truly believes what he’s saying, or because he cares so very much about you? While we can’t read his mind, one thing we do know for sure: climate change has been very, very good to Al Gore. Though he was worth approximately $1.7 million at the end of his vice presidency, he has now amassed an estimated $330 million fortune, owns houses in Virginia, California, and Tennessee, and receives a cool $2 million a month for a figurehead position at the Generation Investment Management green energy fund he founded with former Goldman Sachs Managing Director David W. Blood.

There are only two conclusions I can come to upon learning this news—1) I should have been a climate activist. 2) Hunter Biden has nothing on this guy.

If he’s so concerned about rising seas, why would Gore buy a huge oceanview mansion in flood-prone Montecito? One might ask the same question of former president Barack Obama, who dropped $12 million for a waterfront view on the island of Martha’s Vineyard.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US army says its forces captured three Islamic State members in Syria raid
[IsraelTimes] CENTCOM describes bully boyz as controllers, a logistician and an "associate" of the jihadist group, says that a civilian sustained minor injuries and was being treated

US forces have captured three Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group members during a helicopter and ground raid in eastern Syria, the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said Sunday.

CENTCOM described the bully boyz as controllers, a logistician, and an "associate" of the jihadist group and said they were captured a day earlier.

A civilian sustained "minor injuries" and was taken to a medical facility, CENTCOM said in a statement.

Washington leads an international coalition battling IS in Syria.

After the jihadists lost their last scraps of territory following a military onslaught backed by the coalition in March 2019, IS remnants in Syria mostly retreated into desert hideouts in the country’s east.

They have since used such hideouts to ambush Kurdish-led forces and Syrian government troops while continuing to mount attacks in Iraq.

On Friday, CENTCOM said a drone attack hit a US-led coalition base in southern Syria, with a war monitor saying it was launched by Iran-backed groups.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief January 23, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • IN NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE, CHINA ASKS TALIBAN TO PROTECT ITS CITIZENS – Weeks after an ISIS-K attack on a Kabul hotel that catered to Chinese nationals, China’s Foreign Minister called on his counterpart in Afghanistan to prioritize the protection of Chinese citizens in the country. He also told Minister Muttaqi that Beijing would be willing to expand cooperation when the Taliban form an inclusive government.

  • NATIONAL MOVEMENT FOR PEACE & DEMOCRACY FORMED – The NMPD issued a lengthy statement on the current political situation in Afghanistan and claimed the movement had formed with 5 political parties but was seeking to build a broader anti-Taliban coalition. The statement is critical of the Taliban’s ability to govern the country effectively and intends to use elections as a basis for a return to normalcy. It is not clear how much support the NMPD has.

  • 2 MILD EARTHQUAKES REPORTED IN LAST 24HRS – A 3.9 magnitude earthquake was reported in Badakhshan on Monday and was followed by a second earthquake of 4.9 magnitude in Bamyan. Neither event has caused notable damage or casualties.

  • THE SILENT KILLER – In addition to hundreds of deaths attributed to the recent cold spell in the country, at least 100 additional deaths have been reported in 15 Provinces from monoxide poisoning resulting from the use of natural gas and petroleum-fueled heaters in Afghan homes. With power outages and ‘brown-outs’ in many provinces, local residents have turned to propane, kerosene, and other forms of heat to stay warm. The use of such methods requires ventilation in confined spaces that can kill entire families. The total casualty count from this period of adverse weather is thought to be hovering around 500, but rural communities often do not report such deaths in their communities and the number may be significantly higher.

  • BIZARRE ARREST IN PAKTIKA FOR ONLINE CRITICISM OF TALIBAN – The Taliban continue to monitor social media feeds with two specialized cyber-investigation cells in the Ministry of the Interior. In the Paktika case, the brother of an anti-Taliban Afghan who is living in exile was arrested for his brother’s Facebook posts. The brother under arrest, Ayaz Bacha, is not thought to have expressed any anti-Taliban sentiment online but fell victim to a Taliban plan to intimidate exiled Afghans by harassing friends and family. Mr. Bacha’s condition is currently unknown. The arrest follows on the heels of an incident where a prominent Paktika poet was detained for writing a critical poem.

Police arrest Palestinian teen with knife in Jerusalem Old City
[israelTimes] Officers catch 13-year-old resident of East Jerusalem’s Issawiya neighborhood, say he intended to carry out attack

A teenage boy from of East Jerusalem was prevented from carrying out a stabbing attack in the capital’s Old City, the Israel Police said Sunday.

The suspect, 13 years old, from the Issawiya neighborhood, was found to be carrying a switchblade.

Officers and Border Police on patrol noticed the teenager acting suspiciously in the Old City on Saturday night. They apprehended him and during a search of his possessions discovered the knife.

He was arrested and taken away for questioning. An initial investigation found that he planned to carry out a stabbing, police said.

The suspect was to be brought for a remand hearing on Sunday. The investigation is ongoing.

Jerusalem District Police Commander Doron Turgeman praised officers’ vigilance, saying their quick response foiled an attack.

The incident came a day after a Paleostinian man was rubbed out as he tried to carry out a stabbing attack at an illegal settlement outpost in the West Bank. The Israel Defense Forces said the man entered the Sde Ephraim Farm outpost by car and tried to stab an Israeli man before he was rubbed out by an armed Israeli civilian.

Egyptian business tycoon Safwan Thabet, son detained over terror charges released: Family
[AlAhram] Safwan Thabet, the chairman of the country’s biggest dairy and juice producer Juhayna Food Industries, and his son Seif El-Din, who were detained over terror charges, were released, the businessman’s daughter wrote on social media on Saturday.

Thabet has been kept in pretrial detention since December 2020 for allegedly joining a terrorist group in the case 865/2020. Seif El-Din, deputy chairman of Juhayna, was then arrested in the same case in February 2021.

The business tycoon and his son faced charges of joining and financing a terrorist group to help it change the regime by force. They were also accused of aiding and abetting assaults against the army and police personnel and their institutions and of harming the economy.

"God has accepted our prayers, my father Safwan Thabet and my brother Seif El-Din Thabet are with us," Mariam Thabet wrote.

Safwan Thabet is an engineer who also served as the chairman of the Chamber of Food Industries at Federation of Egyptian Industries.

The case 865/2020 also includes Egyptian business mogul Sayed Ragab El-Sewerky, the owner of El-Tawheed & El-Nour department stores. El-Sewerky was also arrested in December 2020 and is still behind bars.

No official statement on the freeing of Thabet and his son has been released at the time of writing.
Authorities arrested Safwan Thabet in December 2020, and he remained in detention pending an investigation into accusations that he helped fund a terrorist group — a reference to the Moslem Brüderbund, which Egypt banned as a terrorist organization.

The freeing of the two men was the latest in a series of releases of pro-democracy activist muppets and government critics in recent months.

Over the past year, Egypt released or pardoned dozens of detainees as the country’s human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
record came under international scrutiny when it hosted the UN climate change summit in November. The government also embarked on a dialogue with its critics.

The Egyptian government has been relentless in its silencing of dissenters and clamped down on independent organizations with arrests, detentions, prison sentences, and other restrictions.

After release, Arab Israeli terrorists said rearrested, questioned for incitement
[IsraelTimes] Maher Younis, freed just 2 days earlier, reportedly detained Saturday at Ben Gvir’s order alongside his cousin Karim, set free 2 weeks ago, over alleged online praise for terror.

Two Arab Israeli gunnies released in recent weeks after serving 40 years in prison for the murder of an Israel Defense Forces soldier were rearrested Saturday and questioned over online content they have since posted that allegedly contains incitement to terrorism, Hebrew media reported.

The development came just two days after Maher Younis was released, and two weeks after his cousin Karim Younis was freed.

The pair, both from the town of ’Ara in northern Israel, murdered Cpl. Avraham Bromberg in 1980. They were given life sentences that were commuted to 40 years by then-president Shimon Peres in 2012.

The police interrogation, which was reportedly ordered by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, lasted several hours and the pair were then released. Ben Gvir received updates on the matter during the weekend.

Prosecutors will have to decide whether to file a fresh indictment against Maher, Channel 12 news reported.

Ben Gvir has been vocal in his push to mute public celebration of the terrorists’ release as much as possible. After rebuking police for enabling Karim to be feted in his hometown earlier this month, police took steps to prevent revelry following Maher’s release, including enforcing a ban on displaying the Paleostinian national flag.

The cousins are members of Israel’s Arab minority.

Authorities have said they had been out in the countryside gathering wild fruit near the town of Arbinda in Soum province when Islamic hard boyz kidnapped them on Jan. 12 and 13.

Extremists have besieged towns around the West African country, preventing people and goods from moving freely. The town of Arbinda has been under jihadi blockade for years, making women more vulnerable to attacks if they try to leave, rights groups say.

Khorasan Province (ISKP) Lions of Islam were behind the brutal terror attack, resulting in the injury of several Chinese citizens. China’s weaponry support to the de facto regime in Kabul has reportedly begun following the terror incident and the rising instability which threatens the country’s interests and the implementation of the "Road and Belt Initiative" (RBI) in Afghanistan.

Furthermore, Chinese sources have expressed concerns about the volatile security situation and the rising militancy in Afghanistan which could turn the country into the hub of Lions of Islam in the region.

"In response to the growing insecurity and militancy, China has sought to provide the de facto authorities of Afghanistan to fight all forms of terrorism and extremism," Zafar Iqbal Yousafzai, author of The Troubled Triangle: US-Pakistain Relations under the Taliban’s Shadow in The Jamestown Foundation said.

After the withdrawal of the US and international forces in August 2021, China deepened its engagement with the Taliban-run government for several reasons. China was among the few counties such as Iran, Pakistain, and Russia asking the international community to help the Taliban stabilize the country. With no major international player on the ground, the opportunity seemed quite good for China to support the Taliban and achieve their national interests in war-torn Afghanistan.

Meanwhile,
...back at the buffalo wallow, Standing Buffalo drew a bead on his old enemy and squeezed the trigger...
the US presence in Afghanistan was a strategic threat to China. Now with the US gone, closing ties with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is a new geopolitical development for China, reported Jamestown Foundation.

China will give its utmost efforts to succeed in achieving its interests in Afghanistan through mega economic and development projects, under the umbrella of its well-known Road and Built Initiative.

Sisi instructs building large inclusive mosques across Egypt to spread 'true religion'
[AlAhram] Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has given instructions to establish large mosques nationwide, belonging to the Ministry of Religious Endowments, to spread true religion, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement on Saturday.

El-Sisi gave instructions to develop an integrated plan to establish the new mosques, noting that these mosques should become beacons for disseminating the true teachings of religion and that they should encompass activities related to both Dawah and learning and recitation of the Koran.

He highlighted the need to select good locations for the new mosques and allocate appropriate spaces for them.

The president also issued instructions to increase the efficiency of the main mosques in all governorates.

He made the remarks in a meeting to review the activities of the endowments ministry with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Religious Endowments Mohammed Mokhtar Gomaa and Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine El-Qabbaj.

El-Sisi emphasised the importance of enhancing training programmes for Islamic preachers. These programs aim to help preachers become more personable, more enlightened, and more culturally aware. They also help them to become more oriented — culturally and intellectually — towards the modern world so as to present the correct teachings of religion in ways that are not at odds with reality.

In addition, the president also gave instructions to increase the cash rewards for the international Holy Koran competition that the Ministry of Religious Endowments will organise in February to around EGP 2 million.

During the meeting, Gomaa briefed the president on the ministry’s training courses for preachers and religious leaders in African countries to promote the culture of dialogue, belief in diversity, and acceptance of others within the framework of spreading true religion.

Furthermore, the meeting discussed the ministry’s religious and social plans for the holy month of Ramadan.

The ministry’s contribution to community service — which is carried out in coordination with the ministries of social solidarity, supply and internal trade, as well as with local government authorities nationwide — was also on the agenda of the meeting.

El-Sisi has called for reforming the religious discourse on more than one occasion in the face of bully boy thought and waves of terrorism.

The president has urged religious institutions and scholars to intensify their efforts to spread the values of coexistence, intellectual diversity, acceptance of others and tolerant Islamic instructions.

In October, El-Sisi said that religious practices in the region need to be rethought in light of the changes and developments in societies brought about by modernity.

-Great Cultural Revolution
Border Chief Welcomes One Migrant Job-Seeker for Every 18-Year-Old American
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden’s border deputies spiked the December inflow of job-seeking migrants to roughly 200,000, even as his economy forced down wages and pushed up inflation for more than 100 million working Americans.

Official data suggests that Biden’s deputies are flooding the labor market with one foreign worker for every young American who joins the economy.

This 100 percent inflation of the nation’s labor supply cripples Americans’ ability to negotiate decent wages in their national labor market, and also supercharges the inflation of housing prices.

The loss of bargaining power shifts more than $50 billion every month from ordinary Americans to investors and CEOs. That wealth transfer is rarely admitted by Democrats and Republicans, or by establishment media outlets, most of whom prefer to shout about border chaos.

Federal data for December showed that border chief Alejandro Mayorkas allowed 120,562 single adults into the United States in December. In contrast, President Donald Trump’s deputies allowed just 5,592 single adults through the border in December 2020, or one for every 21 single adult migrants officially admitted by Mayorkas in December 2022.

Mayorkas has the legal power to exclude all migrants under the Title 42 rule — but only excluded just one-in-five arrivals, or 40,000. That is a steep drop-off from October, when he excluded 80,000 migrants in the weeks before the November election. Congress’ 212(f) law also gives the president the also legal power to exclude all migrants, but it is rarely used.

Mayorkas’ distracted border agents also watched at least 70,000 extra “gotaways” slip through the border. Mayorkas has repeatedly vowed that gotaways can stay and work in the United States so long as they do not commit criminal felonies.

The huge inflow of labor also reduces the marketplace pressure on employers to invest in high-tech, productivity-boosting machinery. That inflow of workers — and consumers — also pushes the U.S. economy towards a low-tech services and retail economy instead of a high-tech manufacturing and export economy.

The inflow also also shifts wealth from young to old, for example, by driving up young Americans’ rents and housing costs.

But the inflow of foreign workers into Americans’ workplaces is much higher that 200,000 illegals per month.

For example, the data also shows that Mayorkas admitted “81,450 “family units” of adults and children. Most of the adults will find jobs to help pay off their smuggling debts. He also admitted 12,294 “unaccompanied” youths, most of whom will also seek work.

Mayorkas, a Cuban-born, pro-migration zealot, is also smuggling many more migrants through the border via the “parole” pathways operated by Mexico-based, progressive-funded non-profits. That inflow is not included in the monthly reports.

The monthly number also exclude the routine inflow of roughly 80,000 foreign temporary workers. This group includes H-2A farmworkers, H-2B blue-collar workers, and the H-1B, OPT, L-1, E-2, and TN white-collar workers.

The monthly number also excludes the inflow of roughly 1 million legal immigrants allowed by Congress. That legal inflow includes about 650,000 work-ready adults, or about 50,000 per month.

All told, Mayorkas is overseeing the inflow of roughly 200,000 single adults, perhaps 30,000 additional job-seeking parole adult migrants, plus roughly 80,000 legal temporary workers, plus about 60,000 work-ready legal immigrants.

This flood of roughly 370,000 foreign workers is likely greater than 350,000 young Americans who turn 18 every month of the year.

Since January 2021, Biden has welcomed at 2.5 million people across the southern border, and has allowed at least 1 million gotaways. That two-plus period of illegal inflow delivered roughly 3.5 million migrants — or roughly the number of Americans born in 2022.

In recent months, Mayorkas has sketched out his plan to convert the U.S. government’s complex, chaotic and obscure migration system into an explicit labor-delivery system for employers and investors.

Skynet Smiles.... and Lies
[MedPageToday via Insty] I wanted to go back and ask OpenAI, what was that whole thing about costochondritis being made more likely by taking oral contraceptive pills? What's the evidence for that, please? Because I'd never heard of that. It's always possible there's something that I didn't see, or there's some bad study in the literature.

OpenAI came up with this study in the European Journal of Internal Medicine that was supposedly saying that. I went on Google and I couldn't find it. I went on PubMed and I couldn't find it. I asked OpenAI to give me a reference for that, and it spits out what looks like a reference. I look up that, and it's made up. That's not a real paper.

t took a real journal, the European Journal of Internal Medicine. It took the last names and first names, I think, of authors who have published in said journal. And it confabulated out of thin air a study that would apparently support this viewpoint.

Canada To Repatriate ‘Jihadi John’, 22 Other Citizens

According to a report by Sky News, Canada will repatriate Jack Letts, also known as ‘Jihadi John’, as part of its pledge to take back 23 ISIS-linked citizens from camps and prisons in North and East Syria.
No doubt it will be exciting for all involved.
Letts joined the jihadist outfit in 2014 and was arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in 2017. He has been held in northeast Syria ever since. Though born as a dual British-Canadian citizen, he was stripped of his British citizenship by the UK Home Office in 2019.

He previously expressed regret over his actions and pledged to aid de-radicalization programs if released.

A Canadian federal court ruled that Letts and three other men being held in northeast Syria must be repatriated by the government. Family members of the men had brought the case before the court, arguing that the Canadian government was violating the men’s constitutional rights.

The court said the men should be repatriated “as soon as reasonably possible”.

Last week, the Canadian government had informed the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) that it was ready to repatriate six Canadian women and 13 of their children.

Canada has repatriated only seven of their nationals since 2019. The last repatriation took place in October 2022. Until now, Canada has only repatriated women and children.

Why New York City's drug death epidemic is no surprise
[NYPOST] Drug overdose deaths in New York City have hit a record high and it comes, tragically, as no surprise. As reported by the city Department of Health last week, 2,668 New Yorkers died from overdoses in 2021 — the logical (and deadly) result of a failed approach by "public health" authorities to the City’s fentanyl epidemic. While the data does not reveal every cause of this spike, this wave of death makes clear that the city’s endorsement of safe drug use, or harm reduction, has failed.

Indeed, acquiescence and acceptance are leading to death. Because anyone looking for public health campaigns that actually discourage drug use — similar to the high-profile prime-time ads warning against cigarette smoking — would have looked in vain this past year in New York City.

Instead, last May, passengers on subways and buses were treated to the city’s "Let’s Talk Fentanyl" campaign. It was less a warning than a tutorial. "Start with a small dose and go slowly," one placard urged. Make sure to have naloxone, the overdose antidote, on hand, the posters noted. That nodding junkies high on fentanyl might fail to act prudently apparently did not occur to public health "authorities".

Motive remains a mystery after suspected gunman in Lunar New Year mass shooting found dead
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[LATIMES] Authorities have identified the man responsible for a deadly shooting inside a Monterey Park dance studio as 72-year-old Hemet resident Huu Can Tran.

Tran died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a strip mall parking lot near Sepulveda and Hawthorne boulevards in Torrance, law enforcement sources said.

"We still are not clear on the motive," Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said. "The investigation continues ... we want to know how something this awful can happen."

The manhunt began after the shooter opened fire inside Star Ballroom Dance Studio on West Garvey Avenue around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, killing 10 people and injuring 10 others. It was Lunar New Year’s Eve.

About 20 minutes after the shooting in Monterey Park, Tran walked into Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio in nearby Alhambra, officials said. "The suspect walked in there, probably with the intent to kill two more people," Luna said. "But two community members disarmed him, took possession of his weapon, and the suspect bravely ran away."
A pack, not a herd. Well done, guys!
At 10:20 a.m. Sunday, police located the white cargo van that was seen leaving the scene of the shooting, Luna said. When officers left their patrol vehicle to make contact with the occupant, they heard one gunshot come from the van.

At 1 p.m., a SWAT team determined that the suspect had a self-inflicted gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!
at the scene. The man inside the van was Tran, the mass shooting suspect, authorities said.

During the search of the van, several pieces of evidence were found linking the suspect to both locations. A handgun inside the van, which had stolen license plates, authorities said.

"I can confirm that there are no outstanding suspects," Luna said.

The weapon taken by community members in Alhambra was a magazine-fed semiautomatic assault pistol, with an extended magazine attached, according to authorities. This particular firearm with an extended magazine is illegal to possess in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,.
Oh dear me. How absolutely dreadful.
An advisory from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified the suspect as an adult Asian man, about 5 feet 10 inches and weighing 150 pounds. An image showed the man in a black leather jacket, beanie and glasses. Tran had been living at The Lakes at Hemet West, a trailer park whose sign billed it as "A 55+ Active Living Community," according to a public record and law enforcement sources. A security guard turned away a Times news hound at the front gate Sunday night.
A bit long in the tooth to go suddenly amok...
"I still have questions in my mind, which is, what was the motive for this shooter? Did he have a mental illness? Was he a domestic violence abuser? How did he get these guns, and was it through legal means? Well, those questions will have to be answered in the future," said U.S. Rep. Judy Chu during a Sunday night news conference.

Results of ‘Rammstein’: NATO is approaching a direct clash with Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Georgy Bovt

[REGNUM] The meeting of 50 heads of defense departments of the countries - allies of Ukraine - at the American Ramstein airbase ended with the allocation of another package of military assistance. However, the German Leopard 2 tanks were not included in this package, contrary to the urgent demands of Ukrainian President Zelensky. What got in the way?

Serious PR work unfolded around German tanks on the eve of the meeting in the Rammstein format. As if it was about some kind of miraculous wunderwaffe, which, finally, will help to crush the "Russian war machine."

It is worth recalling here that the thesis and the term itself appeared precisely in Nazi Germany, starting around 1942, when Goebbels' propaganda began to persistently promise the Germans that, they say, such a weapon was about to appear that would turn the tide of the war. First it was supposed to be Panther tanks, then XXI class submarines (neither, by the way, lived up to expectations), then something else.

So now, around the “victorious” Leopard 2 tanks, there is more PR and hype than real calculations that a couple of dozen of these vehicles will be able to decide the fate of hostilities. At the same time, it is precisely the propaganda moment, apparently, that confuses Berlin, or rather, the Social Democrat Chancellor Olaf Scholz, most of all.

Exactly like the main enthusiasts of this image (German tanks) in the person of the Baltic states, Poles and some others, who are inspired by this particular moment - emotional and political. Perhaps Scholz doesn't want to see newspaper headlines like "German Tanks Again in the Steppes of Ukraine." But it is not exactly. And his opponents in the bloc of allies, who continue to persuade him on this score, just want just such headlines.

What exactly are the disputes about? Leopard 2 tanks have been produced since the late 1970s, since then more than 3,500 have been made.

Basically, the Germans worked for export. Including hundreds of these tanks are available from European countries. For their re-export to third countries, permission from the country of origin is required.

The preliminary list from Germany itself for the supply of Leopards was formed back in the summer and consisted of 19 (only) vehicles, of which Germany itself does not have so many. In total, the Bundeswehr has 312 Leopard tanks of 2 different series. Of these, 99 were sent for repair and maintenance work in May last year, one was decommissioned. There are 212 tanks left. It seems that they were going to give Ukraine 19 pieces of the Leopard 2A5 series, which were used only for exercises. For some, it will sound, of course, somehow mocking.

On the eve of the Ramstein meeting, Berlin made it clear that it could agree to supply the Leopards if the US provided its Abrams tanks. Although earlier Washington refused to do this: they say, the tanks are too difficult to maintain (they do not run on diesel, they need high-quality fuel, and a lot), they require long-term training of personnel. Although, perhaps, there were other, unpublished thoughts on this matter. Namely, that the "capricious" Abrams tanks may not show themselves very well in battles on the ground in Ukraine, which, in turn, can harm their image.

But Britain decided to ignore image considerations and send 12 of its heavy (they are much heavier than Russian vehicles of a similar class) Challendger tanks to Ukraine, which are already considered not the best tank of all times and peoples. Well, what if it shines, there is nothing to lose? The new batch of British aid will also include FV430 Mk3 Bulldog armored personnel carriers.

This is a relatively new car, it began to be developed in 2005 for use in the Middle East. And now they want to test it in Ukraine.

In Ramstein, a "green light" was given for the supply of other armored vehicles. In particular, about 50 American Bradley armored vehicles and about 100 Stryker combat vehicles - in total, the current US next aid package to Ukraine alone will cost $2.5 billion. It will include new missile and artillery systems and their ammunition.

Apparently, the former “line” of the range of the provided rocket and artillery systems will fall. Until recently, it was 80 km, now we are talking about 160 km, which can make it possible to strike at the Crimea. Allied countries also signed up - each for its own portion of supplies.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhny recently said that for a "successful offensive" Ukraine needs at least 300 tanks, 500-600 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, and several hundred artillery systems. This year, Kyiv is unlikely to receive all this in such volumes. But keep asking.

In addition, the attitude of the allies towards military supplies is still different for different countries, although this is not openly recognized, but it is declared that it is necessary to continue as long as necessary, and in such volumes as required.

In a sense, during the current meeting, there was even a certain split between the group of the most determined supporters of Kyiv and those who, though in favor of further continuation of assistance, but without enthusiasm. The first group of countries, including Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Estonia, even considered it necessary to sign a separate joint statement, in which they stressed that they remained committed to the idea of sending military and other assistance to Kyiv in "unprecedented" volumes. .

The amount of aid from little Estonia to Ukraine has already reached several hundred million euros, making up a significant part of its military budget. This is not so much about the effectiveness of such assistance in military terms (the Estonian share is still negligible), but about the manifestation of a very definite political position. But for some reason, other countries did not sign the above-mentioned statement. Although it would be wrong to say in this regard that the West is “tired of Ukraine”. Still not enough.

A decision on German tanks can still be made in the foreseeable future, even if Scholz cannot be persuaded - bypassing obtaining a special German re-export permit. About which the Germans, of course, can “express concern”, but they cannot and will not block such deliveries, and even more so openly object to the increase in assistance in terms of offensive weapons to Ukraine.

In the West today, this is a politically "impassable topic", and the maximum possible here is to express fears about the "risk of escalation of the conflict." Poland and Lithuania have already hinted at the possibility of a unilateral solution to the "tank problem". And Ukrainian tankers will soon begin training in Poland on those very Leopards.

The next meeting in the Ramstein format will be held in February. And if the current one was "tank", then the next one will be "aviation". The Netherlands has already made the first submission, declaring its readiness to consider the issue of transferring its F-16 fighters to Ukraine, and the United States made it clear that they would not mind.

Thus, the logic of Western military supplies to Kyiv, which manifested itself from the very beginning of the conflict, is confirmed: what is initially banned is sooner or later included in new aid packages. So it was with tanks, and earlier with more "harmless" types of weapons. This was generally the case with weapons that are considered "offensive". Now it's taboo too. It will be the same with airplanes.

As for which (and then it was just Soviet-made MIGs), Biden, I remember, said a resolute “no” to Poland last summer when she raised such a question. And now we are talking about American cars. The next stage is the massive arrival of military advisers, not only for "advice", but also to manage the increasingly complex systems directly on the battlefield. Well, there, even before the direct intervention of NATO in one form or another in a military conflict, it will already be within reach. If it is considered that this option is more “effective” than the total military mobilization of the Western military industry to meet the ever-growing needs of Ukraine.

Silk Says What Happened in Diamond's Final Moments Is a Warning to America: 'Something Ain't Right'
[Western Journal] Two weeks ago, we heard the sad news that Lynette Hardaway, who was better known in conservative circles as Diamond in the popular pro-Trump duo "Diamond and Silk," had died suddenly in her Raeford, North Carolina, home at the age of 51.

Rochelle Richardson, known as Silk, was at her sister’s side during her passing. The cause of Hardaway’s death was not revealed at the time.

Someone has now invented a stroke season to account for our participation in a giant Agatha Christie plot. Eventually, the medical community will cease the ridiculous mambo dance and admit the correlation. And just for fun, while you are waiting to board your next flight, watch the various servicing activities that take place. About the current moment
Direct Translation via Google Translate Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets, are in italics

[Chernovec] Correct remarks from Alexander Khodakovsky, an honored commander from the Donetsk Republic.

"The distribution of responsibility is one of the main formulas for organizing any large-scale process. The process of government is built precisely on this principle - let everyone keep his own patrimony.

But there are situations when this principle has a negative effect - as now, for example. There are categories that, referring to on this principle, they wash their hands of responsibility, or vice versa: there are those who understand that the Defense Ministry will not take out such a global task on its own, and try to participate, but they are quickly shown their place, driving them under the "master of the situation", thereby nullifying the possibilities .

The paradigm is this: it is the responsibility of the Defense Ministry, and let the Defense Ministry deal with it. But the position in the upper echelons of the Defense Ministry is almost always built on the principle: see nothing, hear nothing, say nothing to anyone. To all attempts to open one's eyes to shortcomings, there is only one reaction - rejection. All those who tried got on the back of the neck and stopped trying, even the deputies were told: if you climb, you will lose your immunity and sit down for sabotage work.

What's next? What does it matter to all of us that in the event of a negative result we will know who is to blame? Is it worth the task to wait until a particular department shows itself incapable, and then decisions will be made?

May they live and be healthy! - Give us victory! Winning a war is a collegial affair not only in terms of efforts, but also in terms of sharing responsibility, and the latter requires authority. You can't tell everyone - it's none of your business! You can’t get into a position: I answer - I myself will decide everything.

All this will end with another wave of mobilization and attempts to replace quality with quantity. And this, in turn, will inevitably affect the internal state of Russia, which is what the West is trying to achieve, and can lead to grave consequences.

P.S.
The fact that Defense Ministry is an extremely inert system - it became clear at the end of February at the beginning of March, I will not retell all the examples, including personal ones, it is very long.

But here 2-3 months of misunderstanding of the problems by the leadership of the MT, 2-3 subsequent ignoring of the problems and only then - finding a way to solve them, again for many months - it's too expensive. Expensive because time is a priceless resource that is not renewable.

Awareness of problems, summing up the accumulated experience, correct TIMELY conclusions, speed of reaction - this is the key to future success.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: January 22nd, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespomdent] 22:45 Germany will not object if Poland decides to send German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said: "At the moment, this question is not raised, but if we were asked, we would not interfere."

22:16 The military leadership of Ukraine was instructed to create reserves so that the military would have the opportunity to recuperate after hostilities, Zelensky said during a joint meeting with Johnson and students and teachers of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. According to the president, the most important resource of the Ukrainian army is the personnel, which must be protected: "Because it is difficult for various reasons - both injuries and psychological state. It should be normal."

Zelensky noted that he could not disclose the details of the mobilization processes, but the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief made the relevant decisions, and then the commanders are working on their implementation in their areas.

The head of state also expressed his conviction that Ukraine would definitely win this war, and victory could be won as early as 2023, "but for this, Ukrainians need to maintain unity and strength."

21:40 Zelensky announced a week of "fair decisions": "We will analyze each situation in detail. As for energy and procurement. As for relations between the central government and the regions. As for procurement for the military. The society will receive full information, and the state will take powerful necessary steps. And this is not something temporary, this is a real response. This is what we all expect from our institutions, from the state."

The president also said that there is progress in the work of special services in relation to people "deserving at least sanctions for their activities against Ukraine, independence and the Ukrainian people. There will also be appropriate steps."

20:38 France is working on the issue of supplying Ukraine with Leclerc tanks, Macron said during a joint press conference with Scholz: "As for Leclerc tanks, I asked the Minister of Defense to work on this issue. No options are ruled out."

19:47 The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Republican Michael McCall, said that Washington should send at least one Abrams tank to Ukraine in order to push Germany to provide the Leopard.

18:36 The enemy is focusing its main efforts on conducting an offensive in the Bakhmut direction. Conducts unsuccessful offensive operations in the Zaporozhye, Avdeevsky and Liman directions. On Kupyansky, Novopavlovsky and Kherson - it is being dropped, the General Staff reported in the evening summary.

18:28 Morocco handed over T-72B tanks to Ukraine, Menadefense reports. About 20 units of tanks that have undergone modernization in the Czech Republic were sent to the battlefield a week ago. The Kingdom of Morocco was the first in Africa to provide military assistance to Ukraine.

17:55 In the village of Petrovka, Zolochiv community, Kharkiv region, as a result of Russian shelling, one person was killed, another was wounded in Volchansk, Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA, said.

17:21 Propaganda resources report that in Kadiyivka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck from HIMARS at the field hospital of the occupiers, which was located on the territory of the former dispensary of the machine-building plant. According to public data, about 200 people were killed. Representatives of the "LPR" say that at least six rockets hit the building. They also write in public that the hospital was secret and Kadyrov's people were treated there.

17:18 Medvedev said that it would be "very difficult" for Russia, and predicted a "protracted conflict." According to him, the Ramstein meeting and the allocation of heavy weapons to Kyiv "leave no doubt that our enemies will indefinitely try to wear us down, or better, destroy us."

17:11 During a meeting with Johnson, Zelensky discussed "practical steps that a British politician can take to help Ukraine," Yermak said. In particular, the issue of preparations for the Peace Summit was discussed. Zelensky reminded Johnson that one of the points in the peace formula is a guarantee of security for Ukraine, and membership in NATO would be the best guarantee.

17:06 US Army General Keith Kellogg and a delegation of American servicemen and military experts visited Izyum, liberated from the invaders. According to the head of the Kharkiv OVA Oleg Sinegubov, on the spot they discussed the restoration of Izyum, security and the humanitarian situation in the region. Separately, we considered the urgent needs of the region in the military sphere.

16:47 Italy is negotiating with France on the joint supply of the Samp / T air defense system to Ukraine, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said. He added that Italy has already provided Ukraine with five packages of military assistance worth about 1 billion euros, and now a sixth package is being prepared, which will include air defense systems.

15:18 For Putin, the maximum task now is a breakthrough in operational areas: the south, the completion of the occupation of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, interruption of the arms supply chains. And, of course, Kyiv remains the main dream of the Russian dictator, Alexei Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, writes in his column for the UP. According to him, Russia is preparing for an offensive, the first sign of which, according to constant tactics, is active information activities - lies, manipulations, fakes and disinformation, the activation of agents of the information front.

"And if they start telling you about the countless number of trained and heavily armed mobilized, ultra-modern Russian military equipment, about the latest generation of missiles that will sweep away decision-making centers, about the latest developments, the UAV army and that "Putin is starting to fight for real "and therefore the Ukrainian army has no chance - you know, this is the enemy working through various anonymous channels and his agents of influence," writes Danilov.

According to him, the enemy is "really strong and insidious," therefore, his underestimation is mortally dangerous: "He still has a great resource - the human mass, but the mass is not the people who stood up for the defense of the Motherland and their own family. He still has missiles and tons military iron. He gets smarter, gains experience and learns from mistakes. You need to know about this, remember and take into account. "

At the same time, according to Danilov, Russia is doomed to lose: "Ukraine's historical mission is to finish off the chimera of post-imperial formation, forever destroy the very idea of imperial Russia. After that, Russia must become an ordinary nation-state, devoid of colonies, or fragment."

15:05 Poland in the coming days will begin to train the Ukrainian military in the operation of Leopard 2 tanks, although the decision to transfer them to Kiev has not yet been made, said the head of the International Policy Bureau in the office of the President of Poland, Marcin Przydacz. He stressed that there is no time and we need to prepare for the next Russian offensive, which is already close.

14:36 Three Pantsir-S1 air defense systems have already been deployed around Putin's residence in the center of Moscow .

13:55 Boris Johnson visited Bucha and Borodyanka, Kyiv region. He is in Ukraine on an unannounced visit.

13:24 Budanov told in an interview with Radio Liberty that the banker Denis Kireev was a staff member of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. He was killed in the SBU car, and the body was thrown into the street .

12:56 Ukraine is creating new military formations to equip them with NATO weapons, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Sergey Naev told CNN: "Of course, we need a large number of Western tanks. They are much better than Soviet models and can help us advance. We are creating new military units. And our further actions will depend on their combat readiness. Therefore, the help of the West is extremely important."

He explained that the units need to learn how to use new equipment and integrate it into existing formations: "The entire unit must be equipped with the same vehicle, so the whole battalion, for example, must be equipped with Bradley IFVs, or Leopard - if we get them."

12:44 If Germany does not agree to transfer Leopard to Ukraine, a new coalition of countries will be created that are ready to donate part of their modern tanks to Kiev, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said: "We will not passively watch Ukraine bleed. Ukraine and Europe will win this war, with or without Germany.

11:41 Electricity consumption in Ukraine on January 22 is slightly higher than the day before. The power shortage remains significant, Ukrenergo reports. All oblenergos have been given somewhat larger consumption limits than yesterday for the whole day.

11:25 The decisive moment in the war between Ukraine and Russia will be the spring and early summer of this year. After this stage, it will be possible to talk about the timing of the end of the war, Vadim Skibitsky, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, said in an interview with Delfi: "Spring and early summer will be decisive in the war. If the big Russian offensive planned for this time fails, this will be the collapse of Russia and Putin" .

At the same time, he noted that a new Russian attack on Kyiv from the territory of Belarus is unlikely, as well as active hostilities in southern Ukraine, since the occupiers are more concerned about Crimea. According to him, the main battlefield, where decisive and heavy battles will take place, will be concentrated in two regions - Donetsk and Lugansk. In February-March, the Russians will try to take control of Kupyansk, Svatovo, Kremennaya in the direction of the Kharkov region, intelligence predicts.

10:49 The French division of the Kremlin television network Russia Today (RT) closed after authorities froze its bank accounts as part of EU sanctions.

09:54 British intelligence believes that the Kremlin has conceived the reform of the army because of the likely military threat in the future. According to Shoigu's announcement, a large-scale reform is planned to be implemented between 2023 and 2026. The number of troops is planned to be increased to 1.5 million people, that is, by 11%. Shoigu also announced the creation of the Moscow and Leningrad military districts, a partial return to the Soviet organization of troops in western Russia. They want to place the new building in Karelia, not far from the border with Finland.

According to analysts, such decisions indicate that Russia can prepare for a military threat even after the war with Ukraine. However, Russia is likely to face difficulties in recruiting new troops.

09:29 In the Donetsk region over the past day, as a result of Russian shelling, two people were injured, in Kherson - three people. One person was injured in the Kharkiv region, and a teenager was injured in the Sumy region, according to the IVA.

08:52 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy as of the morning of January 22.

  • personnel - about 120,760 (+600) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 3145 (+5),

  • armored combat vehicles - 6268 (+12),

  • artillery systems - 2144 (+9),

  • MLRS - 445 (+2),

  • air defense systems - 220 (+0),

  • aircraft - 287 (+0),

  • helicopters - 277 (+0),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 1892 (+1),

  • cruise missiles - 749 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 17 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 4932 (+14),

  • special equipment - 193 (+0).

08:28 The invaders conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the Avdeevsky and Limansky directions. They continue to attempt an offensive in the Bakhmut direction, increase the intensity of the use of aviation. In other directions, they are defending themselves, the General Staff said in the morning summary .

Over the past 24 hours, units of the Defense Forces repelled attacks by the Russian army in the areas of the settlements of Novoselovskoye in the Luhansk region and Terny, Serebryanskoye forestry, Verkhnekamenskoye, Belogorovka, Krasnaya Gora, Bakhmut, Pervomayskoye, Maryinka and Pobeda in the Donetsk region.

07:44 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that the Ukrainian defense of Bakhmut is a strategically sound operation, despite significant losses. According to analysts, the costs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the operation in the city are connected with plans for an offensive in other places. By itself, Bakhmut has neither operational nor strategic importance, but if Russian troops took it quickly, they could hope to expand operations, and Ukraine would lose good defensive positions after the retreat, experts say.

ISW notes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces used a similar tactic in the past to gradually deplete Russian troops in Lysychansk. As a result, a controlled withdrawal of Ukrainians from this area took place, however, the capture of Lisichansk and the administrative border of the Luhansk region quickly turned out to be operationally insignificant for Russian troops, and offensive operations of exhausted troops stalled in the summer and autumn of 2022.

Analysts believe that the Ukrainian defense of Bakhmut will contribute to a similar outcome - Russian forces have been moving forces and equipment to the area since May 2022 and have not yet made any significant operational progress. Thus, Ukrainian forces are effectively holding back Russian troops, equipment, and a common operations center at Bakhmut, thereby hampering Russia's ability to continue its offensive elsewhere.

04:50 German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a trip to Ukraine: "It's not final yet, but we can say for sure that I will go to Ukraine soon. Probably even within the next four weeks. On Friday, I met my Ukrainian counterpart in Ramstein for intensive exchange. Alexei Reznikov is an open person who knows exactly what he wants." Ukraine will be the first country that Pistorius will visit as the Minister of Defense of Germany.

grabbed credit for the attack.

Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of Aamin Ambulance Services, told Rooters that ambulance staff had so far evacuated five injured people from the scene of the blast.

Gunfire was still ongoing in the area and it was difficult for ambulances to access the area, he said.

"We were in the office and we were deafened by a blast, we ran out, gunfire followed," Farah Abdullahi, who works in the mayor’s office, told Rooters.

The mayor’s office is located in the local government headquarters building in a well-guarded area of Mogadishu.

Roads in the area have concrete barriers and multiple roadblocks. The building is about one and a half kilometers away from Villa Somalia, the president’s office.

Security forces immediately put the area under lockdown but an exchange of gunfire between the army and the assailants was ongoing, an intelligence officer who only gave his name as Ahmed, told Rooters.

"Our Mujahideen have stormed the well-guarded apostate local government headquarter of Mogadishu, we first started with suicide bombs and then foot fighters entered the building after killing the building guards," Abdiasis Abu Musab, al-Shabaab’s military operations front man, said in the statement.

The ministry of information announced the operation was successfully concluded after the security forces killed the six attackers who holed up in the facility for at least six hours.

The statement added that five civilians bit the dust and four others were maimed in the attack by al-Shabaab which becomes the second of its kind in two months.

The police’s special Haram’ad brigade carried out the operation, and also rescued dozens of people from the building which houses the administration of the Benadir region.

The al-Qaeda-linked group is trying to disrupt ongoing military operations in Somalia by staging boom-mobile and gun attacks in Mogadishu, where the government is based.

Mogadishu mayor Yusuf Madale was out of his office at the time of the attack which began with explosions and followed by gunfire after button men made their way into the ground.

Arabia
UAE Sends New Round of Arms Shipments to STC in Hadhramaut to Fight Saudi-backed Forces
by Emad Almarshahi

[HODHODYEMENNEWS] Weapon shipment has arrived board a military plane designated for the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia in Hadhramaut province.

An official source confirmed that an Emirati military plane arrived yesterday, Friday, at al-Rayyan airport in Mukalla city, carrying weapons and a number of officers, including foreigners.

The source indicated that the plane unloaded its shipment of weapons and military equipment dispatched for the STC militia to fight its battle against the hard boyz of the "First Military Region" affiliated with Islah Party in the districts of Hadhramaut.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Mufti of Chechnya demanded to punish the organizers of the burning of the Koran in Stockholm
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Little Aisha needs braces and piano lessons, so the professional protesters across the Ummah need something new to protest about.
[KavkazUzel] The head of the Muftiate of Chechnya, Salakh Mezhiev, following Ramzan Kadyrov, condemned the action of burning the Koran in Stockholm, blaming the Swedish authorities for it and demanding that the organizers be punished. The assistant to the head of Chechnya, Apti Alaudinov, also joined the condemnation campaign.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today Ramzan Kadyrov sharply criticized Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish ultra-right Hard Course party, who on January 21 burned the Koran near the Turkish embassy in Stockholm. The head of Chechnya suggested that "political forces" were behind Paludan's action, and said that all those involved in this action had incurred eternal damnation.

The Turkish authorities condemned Paludan's act, calling it an "open violation" of the memorandum on joining NATO. In this regard, the visit of the Minister of Defense of Sweden to Turkey has been cancelled. The Swedish authorities said in response that they do not support Islamophobia, but there is "wide freedom of opinion" in the country.

Mufti of Chechnya Salakh Mezhiev today strongly condemned the action in Sweden, the press service of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the republic reported today.

Mezhiev blamed the Swedish authorities for the incident. "Words are not enough to express the indignation and anger of true Muslims caused by the actions of the Swedish authorities! The Holy Quran was burned in Stockholm!" - Mezhiev's words are quoted in a publication in the telegram channel of the Muftiate.

At the same time, the incident in Sweden became a reason for the Mufti of Chechnya to reproach the "Kyiv regime" and justify the actions of Russian troops in Ukraine. "In our country, the Holy Scriptures are protected by the state, so it is impossible to imagine such a coven of democrats in any region of the Russian Federation! Our [...] warriors are fighting against this Kyiv regime, who from the very first days take an active part in a special military operation," - said Salah Mezhiev.

He demanded to punish the organizers of the action. "We strongly condemn the position of the Swedish authorities and demand that the organizers of the provocation be brought to justice! We also ask the Almighty for a painful punishment for all those involved in this inhuman act," Mezhiev's words are quoted in the publication.

Apti Alaudinov , an assistant to the head of Chechnya, commander of the Akhmat special forces, made an appeal to "solve the issue" with Paludan today . "If there is at least one truly believing Muslim in Sweden, he will not go home and will not go to bed until he resolves the issue with this Satanist. Either he must leave this state, or stop the Satanist forever!" – he wrote in his telegram channel.

Recall that on February 28, 2022, Salah Mezhiev announced that the Chechen fighters participating in the military operation in Ukraine "went to jihad" and are fighting for the sake of Allah. On March 29 of the same year, Kadyrov called on the Chechen security forces to " die on the path of jihad."

Jihad is divided into several types: "jihad of the heart" - the fight against one's shortcomings, "jihad of the tongue" - the permission of what is approved and the prohibition of what is condemned, "jihad of the hand" - the punishment of those who have transgressed the law and moral norms, "jihad of the sword" - armed struggle against the infidels, the fallen where they find eternal bliss. Military jihad does not include aggressive wars, border clashes, ethnic strife and clan conflicts, any attempts to conquer, oppress, colonize and exploit, as well as forcibly induce people to accept someone else's faith, the "Jihad" report of the "Caucasian Knot" says.
Uh huh. Don’t tell all the other jihadis engaged in exactly that — they’ll get upset and turn on you for distorting the Holy Word.
Jihad can be declared by an imam, a government official or a spiritual leader, religious scholars interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" pointed out, commenting on the words of Salakh Mezhiev about sending fellow countrymen to Ukraine. When declaring jihad, the mufti should have emphasized that this does not apply to all Muslims , they explained.

In October 2022, Ramzan Kadyrov called the situation in Western countries a "satanic democracy" and called on the Muslims of the Caucasus to jihad against the West.

Earlier, on June 23, Kadyrov published a video with a sermon by the adviser to the head of Chechnya on religious affairs, Adam Shahidov, in which he revealed from a religious point of view the topic of the participation of the inhabitants of the republic in hostilities in Ukraine. "The fight against the henchmen of Iblis must be waged by Muslims always and everywhere, and even the most ardent religious skeptics cannot argue with this postulate," Kadyrov wrote in a commentary on Shahidov's video.

Fifth Column
House Democratic leader's daughter arrested for allegedly assaulting police officer, spray-painting monument
[FoxNews] House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark's daughter was arrested on Saturday evening for allegedly spray-painting a monument and assaulting a police officer during a protest.

"I love Riley, and this is a very difficult time in the cycle of joy and pain in parenting," Clark tweeted. "This will be evaluated by the legal system, and I am confident in that process."

Riley Dowell, 23, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, destruction or injury of personal property, and damage of property by graffiti.

The Boston Police Department referred to the suspect as "Jared Dowell." Clark has spoken in the past about how one of her children is non-binary.

Officers were called to the Parkman Bandstand Monument in the Boston Common around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday evening about a protest.

When they arrived, they saw Dowell allegedly spray-painting "ACAB," which stands for "All Cops Are Bastards," and "NO COP CITY," an apparent reference to a police training facility in the suburbs of Atlanta that has sparked protests after officers shot and killed a protester who allegedly opened fire on them, injuring one, earlier this week.

While police arrested Dowell, a group of 20 protesters "began to surround officers while screaming profanities though megaphones on the public street causing traffic to come to a standstill," according to police.

The protesters were "interfering with the arrest" and "an officer was hit in the face and could be seen bleeding from the nose and mouth."

Dowell will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

Clark, 59, is the second highest-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives after being elected whip last month.

Another protester accused of spray-painting the monument, 27-year-old Andrea Colletti, was arrested about an hour later.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Europe admits it is following the path of Napoleon and Hitler
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Maxim Sokolov
In which the Russian editorialist goes on about Western European conquerors because he dare not admit that most of Russian history involves the conquest of the independent countries surrounding it, which in living memory includes the physical conquest of half of Germany and the cultural conquest of France, among many others. Definitely a case of protesting too much.
[RIA] The current campaign of the Western "International" to the East gives rise to quite obvious associations with 1941 and 1812. Invasion of Twelve Languages v.3.0. And if we also take into account the year 1918 with the campaign of fourteen powers, then even v.4.0. Everything is so familiar and familiar.

Even the High Representative of the EU, Borrell, not to say that the most distinguished historian, speaking the other day in Madrid , said: “Russia is a big country, she is used to fighting to the end, she is used to almost losing, and then restoring everything. She did it with Napoleon, she did it to Hitler. It would be absurd to think that Russia lost the war, that its military is incompetent. Therefore, right now it is necessary to continue arming Ukraine."

The most pro-Russian people in the EU are ruled by Russophobic scoundrels
The final conclusion, however, is strange. Should it be understood that the Brussels regional committee will be militarily more successful than the French Empire or the Third Reich? But at least it’s good that the representative remembered historical analogies.

True, if Borrell's excursus into the past did not cause any complaints - as if it should be so - then the same excursus by S. V. Lavrov, who compared the current Western coalition of democracies with the Reich and its satellites, caused curses and gnashing of teeth. John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator at the US National Security Council , called Lavrov's speeches "offensive, absurd and undeserving of a response," and the president of the European Jewish Congress, Ariel Muzikant, condemned the comparison of the US and its allies' policy towards Moscow with the actions of A. Hitler and called on the Russian Foreign Minister apologize. Borrell for some reason did not call.

Be that as it may, the composition of the former internationals is impressive. In 1812, in addition to, of course, the French, the Grand Army included Italians, Croats, Spaniards, Portuguese, Dutch, Bavarians, Saxons, Westphalians, Hessians, Prussians, Swiss, Poles, etc. Together, representatives of non-titular nations made up about half of the invasion army. The Austrians also stood on the Russian border (present -day Ukraine ), but did not invade.

A similar picture was in 1941. In addition to the Wehrmacht, the regular armies of Italy, Romania, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Croatia fought against the USSR . As well as volunteer formations from Spain, France, Holland , the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. The contribution of the Czechs (engineering) and the Swedes (iron ore) to the military economy of the Reich is also difficult to overestimate.

And although not all, but most of the German satellites made an active contribution to the final solution of the Jewish question. They themselves deported the Jews to the Reich for destruction.

So Borrell only repeated the basics of school history textbooks. Just like Lavrov.

But there were other similarities as well. Both the great emperor and the Fuhrer had more than enough formal allies. If we talk not about formal, but real participation in the military efforts of the hegemon, the picture was more complex. Not only the Habsburgs, but many others could rightfully say:

"I serve all allies

More Austrian, more Austrian".

That is, as long as there is a victorious offensive, we will also advance (but preferably in auxiliary units, where there is less risk), but if military happiness turns away from the Fuhrer-Emperor, then we are not ready to stand for him to the last: our shirt is closer to the body. As a result, the French allies Austria and Prussia declared war on Napoleon in 1813, and the German satellites Italy, Romania, Bulgaria , France in 1943-1944 did the same somersault.

Today, the formation of a democratic "great army" is still in a preliminary stage, but the difficulties in building everyone in a single column are already obvious.

Very few are reckless. Unless the Baltic limitrophs, the value of which, both in terms of military and military-industrial terms, is close to zero. That does not prevent them from furiously rage and rush into battle. They can be used as a foothold, as well as a police force in the occupied territories, but first these territories must be captured.

Poland is partly adjacent to the bold , but its determination is more about the seizure of Ukrainian lands, and the military costs must be paid by NATO allies .

The British are always ready for various responsible wet deeds, but no, thank you for the heroic attack of light cavalry. There is nothing special to subsidize the allies (as happened in previous wars). There are rhetorical exercises.

Roughly the same with the French. Selling museum equipment to Ukraine, intriguing, puffing out your cheeks and dancing on a tightrope - that's always the case. The nature of the Parisian circus performers is unchanged. But to die in the Donetsk steppes is let someone else.

The Germans groan and huddle, huddle and groan, like the venerable Solomon from The Miserly Knight. What can be understood: the state of the Bundeswehr leaves much to be desired, and the method "We raised our army in battles" does not inspire the Germans.

Like the Czechs. Russophobia is welcome, but "We will not go to war, we all ... (spit)".

On the southwestern flank (Italy, Spain, Greece , Austria) there is even less enthusiasm. They prefer to sit quietly and not chirp.

Finally, the Turks and Hungarians succumbed to direct dissidents. However, the Turks remained neutral both in 1812 and in 1941.

The Brussels authorities are always in favor, but Josep Borrell and Charles Michel are not even suitable as company political officers. How they will rally such diverse forces - only they know.

Thus, a united Europe is clearly inferior to its ancestors from the time of the Fuhrer-Emperor in terms of cohesion, as well as readiness to kill and especially die in the fields of Russia. If wars were waged by newspapermen and humanities professors, there would be no enemy more terrible and cruel. But the campaign mainly requires other military registration specialties, and where to get them is less clear.

This is not a basis for harmful hatred, but it is also not a basis for all-out storming before the formidable invasion of the twelve democracies.
Translation note. The translated word propying I replaced with storming because the Russian word for propying doesn't exist. The prepositional phrase phrase, для всепропальчества, was a genitive declension for the word property, but in this context, to me at least, only storming made any sense.

#1  I don't recall anyone using the rally cry "On to Moscow". It's more like the game the old Soviet Union played supplying North Vietnam during the Indochina conflict. Russian troops were not overtly involved. They just exploited the nationalist sentiment of the locals to grind the South Vietnamese and Americans down. Fortunately for Putin so far, he has the internal security means to crush any domestic opposition.

#4  ...most of Russian history involves the conquest of the independent countries surrounding it...

Russia had a lot of weak, underdeveloped countries surrounding it so they didn't have to build ships and cross oceans to build their empire. Some of those countries, the Mongols for one example and Hitler's Germany for another, were really not weak at all and so Russia had to conquer or be conquered. You could say they live in a tough neighborhood. So, yes, there are differences between Russian history and that of Britain, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium and Portugal. But they all built empires by conquering other countries.

#7  As recently as the 1950s and 1960s, France fought wars to maintain their grip on Vietnam and Algeria. Americans fought in Vietnam until 1973. To this day, Americans, French and the British exhibit tendencies to send their troops into other countries. In the 1970s the Portugese fought a nasty little war in Angola. World War II forced the Europeans to retreat from many of their overseas colonies but, if it hadn't been for that war, it's a good bet they would still be there. Russia conquered several of the Eastern European countries in World War II but only after Hitler's invasion of Russia. Then they used those countries as a buffer zone between themselves and the undeniably hostile powers of Western Europe. These days, Russians see NATO as the modern equivalent of Napoleon and Hitler. In Ukraine, NATO has given them good reason for that, first with the 2014 coup in Kiev and then the proposed expansion of NATO into Ukraine. Just last year Biden said it himself, "For the love of God, that man (Putin) cannot remain in power." Putin has so far kept NATO from conquering Ukraine and Biden hates him for it. Throughout Russian history, Tsars, communist dictators and now Putin have used the vast distances of their country, and others, as a strategic advantage against some of their more powerful neighbors who would conquer Russia if they could.

#8  All of this might lead you to believe that I am pro-Russian, maybe even paid by the Kremlin to spout such propaganda. But no. I harbor no illusions about Putin. He is a murdering, ruthless dictator and has sent his troops into other countries just like his American, French and British counterparts.

I don't harbor any illusions about Biden either.

I am not pro-Russian. I am anti-war and I firmly believe we should negotiate an end to this stupid little war in Ukraine that would take into account the legitimate security interests and historical claims of all parties.

#11  Did you seriously just leave out the part where that Germany viciously attacked Russia with the end goal of genociding or enslaving its population?

I also left out the part where Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia amicably divided Poland between themselves, and that the Nazis turned on the Soviets when the Soviets were about to turn on them. I’ve lost maternal relatives to the Nazis, and paternal relatives to the Soviets.

What was Stalin’s goal for the first conquest of Germany, the one he didn't get to do? Did he intend another Holodomor, or did he intend merely to make them another subject people after killing the entire leadership class like he’d done in Poland? We saw what he did to East Germany after he got it, along with the other countries he did not set free after driving out the Nazis.

and so Russia had to conquer or be conquered. You could say they live in a tough neighborhood.

That seems a fair evaluation, Abu Uluque.

Rozhin: Don't make a thriller out of our history
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist appears in italics.

[ColonelCassad] In addition to the heated controversy https://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/8118212.html about the need to remove Solzhenitsyn from the school curriculum.

Political scientist Sergey Markov, who is closely associated with the leadership of United Russia, on the issue of teaching Solzhenitsyn at school.

About Solzhenitsyn. No need to make a thriller out of our history. A sharp discussion broke out, should Solzhenitsyn's Gulag Archipelago still be taught at school?

1. What a discussion, very good. It is the people who should determine the priorities of school education.

2. Is the "Gulag Archipelago" really literature? This is historical political journalism. Therefore, it has no place in the course of literature.

4. In the course of history, perhaps a place. Where about the Stalinist repressions.

3. It is absolutely impossible to read this. And schoolchildren should not be forced to read "historical thrillers" about thousands of murders.

4. Schoolchildren must know about Stalin's repressions. But about tragedies, it’s somehow necessary to be drier, without winding up.

5. From Solzhenitsyn may be in the school curriculum on literature "One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich," this is a story about the unbroken spirit of an ordinary simple Russian peasant. This is literature. And read it a lot more.

6. The "Gulag Archipelago" is promoted to the maximum by the geopolitical enemies of Russia in order to present the Russian state as a murderous maniac.
The Soviet state, anyway. Does the good colonel contend that the Soviet Union was a good thing? That Marxism-Leninism was a preferable political system to both the Russia of the Tzars and the current strong man-led semi-democracy?
No need to go on about the enemies of Russia.

7. Conclusion, the "historical and journalistic thriller" "The Gulag Archipelago" should be removed from the school literature curriculum.

https://t.me/logikamarkova/5062 - zinc

As you can see, the issue has already grown to a controversy within the ruling party.

I am sure that the elimination of Solzhenitsyn in the school curriculum is a matter of time - even now he looks like a frank vestige of the bygone era of the "march to the West." Issues with Memorial, Ekho Moskvy, Svanidze, Dmitriev, Novaya Gazeta, etc. were positively resolved. etc. Things will come to Solzhenitsyn with the Yeltsin Center.

In this regard, the NWO created favorable conditions for the elimination of at least part of the "legacy of Perestroika and the saints of the 90s." This should be used - the window of opportunity is not endless.

From Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets:
Deputies defend Solzhenitsyn

Solzhenitsyn is not planned to be expelled from the school curriculum, said the head of the State Duma Committee on Education Olga Kazakova

Solzhenitsyn is a liar. His works should be given with comments - what and how it really happened. It's like graphomania and nonsense of the same Rezun-Suvorov to throw on children's unprepared brains in their raw form. This scribbler is a liar who harmed the country with his writings. He himself was a rat and denounced his cellmates.

When a book claiming to be allegedly historical and autobiographical is engaged in inventing facts out of thin air (especially with fictitious figures, it’s a big problem), and then the reader believes in them all his life, this really means that such a book is unlikely place in the list of school literature. In his writing. solid fiction, far from reality, but from the truth tembole.

I read "Archipelago", the artistic value is zero. Although I confess, for a long time already, I tried twice out of sporting interest (you need to know your enemies by sight), but I could not read the entire three-volume book. The pages of his lauded novels are impossible to read because of the undisguised hatred for the country in which he was born. Not even to power, but to people who live for it. Perhaps this is my personal feeling. And he praised Bandera. You need it too, right? Complete insanity, to include in the school curriculum the work of a man who called on the United States to strike with nuclear weapons at the USSR. Then we wonder where Kolya from Urengoy comes from.
I contend that there is a reason the West has never seen the totality of his work translate into English. Solzhenitsyn hated Jews.
A very Russian attitude. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was written by the Tsar’s secret police because they were certain it would be believed.
In addition to nonsense, Solzhenitsyn wrote in such a way that I constantly had a question - is it written in Russian at all? The syllable of "genius" was extremely heavy. To Tolstoy and Sholokhov as to the moon.

But the deputies defend Solzhenitsyn. Now, if Volodin spoke about the fact that the book has no place in the school curriculum, the deputies would vied with each other to say that this was a timely and correct decision. But you know who should talk to Volodin about this. And since such a conversation cannot take place (for well-known reasons), he can only answer this with the words of Ensign Kazakov: “No! Set aside! We have subordination and seniority!”
Volodin is a reference to national Duma chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.
Ensign Kazakov is a reference to a character in the 1979 Soviet film "Border Dog Alyi".

#1  I contend that there is a reason the West has never seen the totality of his work translate into English Solzhenitsyn hated Jews..
While taking History of Science at the university I was told that over two-thirds of Sir Isaac Newton's works were ...pseudo-occult metaphysics. Newton was trying to use Calculus to define the 'Nature of the Divine', predict the future and other things. Most modern academics selectively recall his works on mathematics, optics and planetary motion because that is 'scientific'.

Government Corruption
Justice Department finds 6 more classified documents in search of Biden's home
[NYPOST] Federal Sherlocks found more classified materials during a search of President Joe Biden
...... 46th president of the U.S. The guy who lost Afghanistan, aka Biden's Bungle......
’s Delaware home — with some dating back to his years in the Senate, Biden’s lawyer announced Saturday.

Bob Bauer, Biden’s newly acquired personal lawyer, said the Justice Department took six documents marked classified and some of Biden’s notes during a Friday search that lasted 13 hours.

The department "took possession of materials it deemed within the scope of its inquiry, including six items consisting of documents with classification markings and surrounding materials, some of which were from the President’s service in the Senate and some of which were from his tenure as Vice President," Bauer said in a statement.

Biden knew the Justice Department was coming to search through his Wilmington home, Bauer said, but neither the President nor the First Lady was present for the probe.

His lawyers and White House team witnessed Sherlocks conduct a "thorough search" of the residence, Bauer said.

Attorneys for Biden first found 10 pieces of classified materials at the Penn Biden Center in DC six days before the midterm elections. More sensitive materials were uncovered at the president’s Wilmington, Del., home, where Hunter frequently stayed.

The contents of the newly discovered documents, as well as the previously recovered material, remain unknown.

The White House was elusive Friday about why Biden was spending his weekend at his Rehoboth Beach, located 90 minutes away from where the Justice Department was rifling through his Wilmington home.

When asked if his weekend trip was related to the classified documents scandal, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre only said Biden "often travels to Delaware on the weekend. I don’t have anything else to share."

#3  I think it will be late in his presidency but that Biden will eventually resign. His next scam will be the Joe Paterno gambit of saying you won’t seek re-election but allow him to finish out his term. This will allow him to pardon Hunter after all of the dirt has come out. He needs for Hunter to be fully charged so that Hunter can be fully pardoned. The power of the president to pardon is absolute, but I don’t think it includes a pardon for crimes not charged. The Nixon precedent is that he can’t pardon himself so he will need Kamala to take out that garbage for him. The resignation will happen late in the presidency because the VP approval process in the House is unpredictable at this point. Obama may need the interim coach, Kamala, to finish out the season. A long run for her will screw up season ticket sales for 2024.

China-Japan-Koreas
Guadalcanal Campaign - The Battle of Tassafaronga: (IJN 4(?) : 3 USN)

The engagement took place in Ironbottom Sound off Tassafaronga Point on Guadalcanal’s northern coast. A U.S. Navy task force attempted to surprise and destroy Japanese destroyers dispatched to resupply Japanese ground forces on Guadalcanal. Utilizing their still relatively new surface-search radar, the U.S. task force located the Japanese ships and sank an enemy destroyer. However, the other Japanese warships reacted quickly and fired numerous very effective Type 93 “Long Lance” torpedoes, sinking one U.S. cruiser and heavily damaging three others. The Japanese were able to escape, but also did not land their supplies and reinforcements, with deleterious effects for their forces on Guadalcanal.

Magpie,

Is the computer version you're referring to Harpoon? Played that for several iterations until it kind of faded out about fifteen years ago. It's spiritual descendant (with a lot of the stillborn Harpoon IV in it) is COMMAND: Modern Operations...and it doesn't get any better than C:MO.

Just no WWII database yet.

Perplexed by Power Slap League
[Breitbart] Those absorbing the slaps in Dana White’s Power Slap League are not the only ones left dazed and confused by the new sport. Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs can’t seem to make sense of what he’s watching either.

The Power Slap League, promoted by UFC President Dana White, premiered on Wednesday and showcased a particularly brutal episode where Sheena Bathory knocked out Kortney Olsen.

Diggs commented on the spectacle on his Instagram story.

“This some crazy sh-t right here,” he said. “They be out here smacking the sh-t out of each other.”

“What am I watching? I never watch TV anymore only Netflix and this what be on TV Jesus Christ,” Diggs wrote. “Is this a real sport?”

According to the New York Post, “The UFC-backed league featured individual matches between two opponents who alternate between ‘striker’ and ‘defender’ roles. A striker — determined by seeding or coin toss — has 30 seconds to wind up and deliver a slap, while the defender has 30 seconds to recover. Matches can go from 3-5 rounds, and a defender who is knocked down has a 10-count to get back on their feet and continue. If there is no knockout, judges score each round on a 10-point system.”

Is that a sport?

Everyone will have to decide that for themselves, but it certainly doesn’t require the training, skill, technique, savvy, or preparation time that normal combat sports do. Unfortunately, it also could be far more dangerous to participants than most things we consider to be sports.
