#2  Biden - yes
Trump - no

Constitution spells out the requirements for President, and impeachments and bogus lawsuits do not disqualify Trump, so I think there is no way in hell he does not run.

Biden on the other hand... I dont think any of us thought he would be the candidate in 2024. Harris was the heir, but never figured it out and still doesnt poll well.

#4  Biden’s done. I suspect Harris has come around and will follow orders… for two years. Electing her might take even more cheating than they think they can get away with, so expect Gavin Newsom to be the 2024 selection. Doubt either Trump or DeSantis can beat him, though ‘maybe,’ if they ally early and strongly.

#12  All critical systems should have a fail-over process that kicks in immediately during a final operating system release. But before the final release there should be an Alpha release (to only a few computers first), a Beta release (to a larger user base), then finnaly the complete Final release if all went well during Alpha/Beta. For a long time this was industry standard. Under know nothing Butt-Gigg, not so.

Why does so much of Gen-Z hate America? Here's why we can't give up on them
[FoxNews] What’s wrong with today’s youth?

In previous generations, the rebellious youth were always a topic of consternation for the old folks. They don’t listen! They drive too fast and talk too loud. They wear funny clothes and don’t respect their teachers.

But something has changed in the last few years that should have the older generations far more worried than they would have been in the past.

A recent Morning Consult poll found that only 16 percent of Gen Z’ers are proud to live in the United States. Millennials were only somewhat saner at 36 percent.

These numbers should set off alarm bells. In the last ten years, there has been a sharp decline in national pride. It is not an accident. It’s a deliberate attempt by the left to destroy American patriotism and replace it with their ideology. In 2013, 85 percent of Americans said "extremely or very" proud to be American. Today that number is 63 percent. It wasn’t until 2016 that that number ever dipped below 80 percent, sometimes being in the high 80s and 90s. That’s a collapse.

This is not an accident. The indoctrination happening in our schools have resulted in this kind of opinion among the young.

The numbers show a complete lack of knowledge of the rest of the world. What the kids are learning in school in the U.S. is that the freest country in the history of humanity, the country that has set the example for democracy and for freedom and has been a beacon of hope to people all over the world is meh, not that great.

The kind of privilege that it takes to hold that opinion is mind-boggling. It means this person was taught to believe that the immense advantages that they have through the sheer luck of being American are not that important. They do not know the struggle people across the world still go through to be free or how desperately people want to be Americans. The haters were taught to take for granted the freedom and liberty that is their birthright.

In the last few years the left has successfully taken over curriculums in public schools across the country. They push the idea that America is just not that great. They force the 1619 Project onto curriculums. They remove discussion of the founding fathers or of American history in general. All education is geared at the idea that America is a terrible place.

Aside from being wrong, it’s deeply myopic. The people who push this idea think they are worldly. But worldliness involves knowing something about other countries and not being so shortsighted about your own. These are people born on third base and thinking they’ve hit a triple.

Deep down, Americans are a very patriotic people. Yes, even the young people. But they’ve gotten to where admitting it is not permitted. Millennials and Generation Z are the first generations raised with "cancel culture," and with that a forced conformity of thought. To break with the pack, with your teachers, and say that America isn’t just great but the greatest, is simply not allowed. Wrongthink can lead to bad grades or harassment by their peers. It will take some bravery for the young people to overcome what is happening to them. And it will take standing up for ideas they know to be true but have been told so long that they are not.

More than that, it will take the older generations doing more than just tsk-tsking these kinds of numbers. They have to educate the young people in their homes or in their lives about the miracle that is the American experiment. The miracle needs maintaining, and it needs a continued effort to ensure its success. Cancel culture and the push of leftist conformity will be destroyed eventually. The older generations have to be in the fight, and can’t just give up on the youth to make that happen.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief January 20, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN CALL FOR A THREE-NATION MEETING ON REFUGEE ISSUES – Khalil Rahman Haqqani, Minister for Refugees and Repatriation has called for a meeting with Iran and Pakistan to find a solution for the problem of refugees from Afghanistan. A source in the Ministry of Defense said a recommendation for talks had actually come from Iran initially but Turkey may also send a representative to any forthcoming summit.

  • TTP KILLS 3 POLICE IN KHYBER DISTRICT – Several militants struck a police outpost with guns and a suicide bomber which resulted in the deaths of 3 police. The militants struck the facility in a nighttime coordinated attack and at least 4 militants were involved. The suicide bomber detonated his device and was killed in the attack while the others escaped. The TTP claimed that only the suicide bomber was involved in the attack but several eyewitness accounts supported Pakistan’s statement on the matter. It is not clear if the militants had launched their attack from Afghanistan.

  • PRISONERS RELEASED FROM NANGARHAR JAIL BY SUPREME LEADER – Nearly 70 prisoners were freed from the Jail in Nangarhar yesterday. The head of the appeals court cited a recent decree by the Supreme Leader that called for freeing persons who had been convicted of minor offenses and/or who had received forgiveness from the victims of their crimes. There were 11 children and 5 women in the group. The jail superintendent said that 1,100 prisoners remain in the jail and that 65 were children and 50 were women.

  • THE UN CONTINUES TO HOLD THE LINE WITH THE TALIBAN – A few misleading articles in Taliban-affiliated news outlets attempted to give the impression that visiting officials from the United Nations had pledged to advocate on the regime’s behalf for recognition and a return of several billion dollars of frozen funds. To their credit, the UN delegates continually stressed the conditions that would need to be met before engagement could proceed. UNAMA, under badly needed new leadership, has impressed many with its skill at the negotiating table.

CONFLICT TRACKER
Takhar: A vehicle that exploded near the governor’s office Thursday afternoon was targeted by the NRF. 2 Taliban are thought to have been killed and 2 others were wounded. Reports differ over whether the mine was attached to a Taliban vehicle or the vehicle had a device placed in it and was parked near a checkpoint, The Taliban have acknowledged the incident but provided no additional details.

NEXT 24 HOURS
TAKHAR SECURITY OPERATIONS EXPECTED – A source in Kabul said that Taliban forces in Takhar have received information about further threats from NRF forces in the Province. To preempt any potential attacks, they intend to conduct home searches in Taloqan. The searches are expected to concentrate in neighborhoods on the North and South banks of the Khanabad river, near the Taloqan bridge. There is also a plan to set up a new security checkpoint along the road to Takhar University. Local Taliban security forces are reportedly looking for a cache of magnetic mines, 2 IEDs (mortar shells), and small arms. They believe the NRF operatives who carried out yesterday’s bomb attack have not departed.

US Treasury takes unusual steps to avoid looming default
[Dawn] The US Treasury began taking measures on Thursday to prevent a default on government debt, as Congress heads towards a high-stakes clash between Democrats and Republicans over raising the borrowing limit.

Such "extraordinary measures" can help reduce the amount of outstanding debt subject to the limit, currently set at $31.4 trillion, but the Treasury has warned that the tools would only help for a limited time — likely not longer than six months.

"I respectfully urge Congress to act promptly to protect the full faith and credit of the United States," said Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in a letter to Congressional leadership on Thursday. She added that there is "considerable uncertainty" on how long the measures can last before risking default.

"Failure to meet the government’s obligations would cause irreparable harm to the US economy, the livelihoods of all Americans, and global financial stability," Yellen warned last week.

A default would harm US credibility, and JPMorgan Chase Chief Executive Jamie Dimon also cautioned that "we should never question the creditworthiness of the United States government." "That is sacrosanct. It should never happen," he said in an interview with CNBC.

The world’s biggest economy could face severe disruption with Republicans threatening to refuse the usual annual rubber stamping of a rise in the legal borrowing limit, and this could push the United States into default.

Far-right Republicans, who now hold key power in the party’s narrow majority in the House, want Democratic President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Being a self-defined foreign policy whiz kid means never having to say you're sorry...
to agree to slash government spending.

They argue that radical cuts are needed to reduce borrowing, which Congress has generally agreed to increase each year — raising the so-called debt ceiling.

"Unchecked spending will have dire consequences," said Republican House Boodle Central Chairman Jason Smith in a statement.

"Congress cannot continue mortgaging our children and grandchildren’s futures to borrow from foreign nations like China," Smith added. But the White House has said cuts of the size Republicans demand would have to come from key social security and military spending programmes, or involve major new taxes.

The White House also vowed that Biden would not negotiate with hardline Republicans over their "risky and dangerous" opposition to increasing the limit.

Raising or suspending the debt limit does not authorise new spending or cost taxpayers money, said Yellen last week.

For now, the Treasury Department said it would turn to resources from two funds for retirees as it starts its "extraordinary measures." It will not fully invest a portion of the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund (CSRDF), with a "debt issuance suspension period" to last until early June.

Treasury will also halt additional investments of amounts credited to the CSRDF and Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund, Yellen said in announcing the latest actions.

As the debt ceiling is reached, Treasury will start to draw down its cash balances and turn to accounting techniques and tools to allow the government to continue its functions, said Mickey Levy of Berenberg Capital Markets. But he believes the probability of a government default on its debt is close to zero.

Bird statue fetches $100,000 as Musk auctions Twitter HQ items
Whee! Betcha Mr. Musk is having fun pointing out all the things he’s going to get rid of. Will he be moving the headquarters to Texas, too, possibly down the street from his Tesla organization?
[Dawn] A Twitter bird statue fetched $100,000 on Wednesday as Elon Musk auctioned off furniture, decorations, kitchen equipment and more from the tech firm’s downtown the Socialist paradise of San Francisco

headquarters.

An online auction of "surplus corporate office assets of Twitter" that lasted slightly more than 24 hours also featured a 10-foot neon light in the shape of Twitter’s bird logo, which brought in a winning bid of $40,000, Heritage Global Partners auction service confirmed.

Among the 631 lots were espresso machines, ergonomically correct desks, televisions, bicycle-powered charging stations, pizza ovens and a decorative planter shaped like an "@" sign.

Musk in December said that severe cost cuts at Twitter had repaired the company’s dire finances as he set out to find a new CEO for his troubled social media platform.

The mercurial billionaire told a live chat forum at the time that without the changes, including firing over half of Twitter’s employees, the company would have bled $3 billion a year. Musk said he had been "cutting costs like crazy" at the platform he bought for $44 billion.

Just weeks into his ownership of Twitter, Musk fired about half of its 7,500-strong workforce, sparking concern that the company was insufficiently staffed to carry out content moderation and spooking governments and advertisers.

Musk said his strategy was to massively reduce costs while building up revenue, and that a new subscription service called Twitter Blue, which grants users a sought-after blue tick for a fee, would help reach that goal.
The move comes months after laying off thousands of employees at Twitter, and then downsizing its headquarters.

The social media platform, which Musk took over in October in a whopping $44 billion deal, has reduced its space by two-thirds at 1355 Market St.

The move comes as Musk, 51, has been making major cuts to staff — even eliminating free meal options.

In December, Musk revealed that Twitter was not secured financially. "We have an emergency fire drill on our hands."

"Twitter isn’t secure yet, just not in the fast lane to bankruptcy. Still much work to do," Musk later Tweeted.

After missing rent payments, Twitter has now gone from six floors to occupying only two.

Twitter laid off about half of its 7,500-employee global workforce in early November, as Musk enacted a drastic cost-cutting plan. This included 800 who were based in the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
The company is also reportedly set to close its Seattle
...a formerly lovely city in Washington state, governed by communists, anarchists, dipshits, and other sorts of incompetents. Home to Starbuck's, Boeing (at least for now), and Amazon, Microsoft, and Costco, the city became rich beyond its wildest dreams. and New York City offices in an effort to cut costs.
Ross Dove, chief executive of Heritage Global, the parent company of Heritage Global Partners, told the New York Times that more than 20,000 people had registered to bid online — the most of any of the firm's auctions over the last 90 years and a fact he attributes to the public's fascination with Twitter and Musk himself. He estimated that the auction would net Twitter some $1.5 million.

"The victims belong to two families, one is a 63-year-old mother and his son Ahmad, and the other is the car’s driver with his wife and daughter," Amin Abdullah, son of one of the victims told Rudaw, adding that they are currently conducting the legal procedures to bring their bodies to Duhok for burial.

The victims of one of the families were visiting Mardin for medical treatment, according to their relatives, when they were shot "in the head" inside their car in the early morning of Thursday.

Terrorist attack on police post leaves three dead in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
[Dawn] Three persons including two coppers and a cook were killed when holy warriors attacked a checkpost in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber tribal district on Thursday evening.

Khyber DPO Mohammad Imran told journalists that holy warriors conducted a three-pronged coordinated attack at Takhtabeg checkpost on the main Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
-Torkham Highway at around 7:30pm.

He said that the attackers, including a jacket wallah, initially hurled hand grenades at the police post alongside resorting to indiscriminate firing which resulted in the killing of a policeman on the spot while critically injuring two others including a cook.

"One of the injured policeman departed this vale of tears while being shifted to hospital while the cook died at Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar later," said the DPO. The two martyred coppers included Younas Khan and Manzoor Shah while the cook was identified as Rafiq, all hailing from Jamrud.

He said that police courageously intercepted the suicide bomber at the entry point of the checkpost as he was trying to enter and blew himself inside the checkpost. He was killed when his explosive-laden jacket was blown up with police firing.

"No coppers was either killed or injured in the suicide explosion," said the DPO. He added that police collected body parts of the suicide bomber for forensic investigation.
“That’s a left ear...and over there is the matching right one....but why does he have two left feet? Hmmm... I shall have to write a monograph for the Lancet.”
“B - but is he dead, Dr. Quincy?”
“Oh! Yes, of course he’s dead, Jim. When they’re in pieces like this, the smart bet is that they’re dead. Give me a blank form D17933/KPTTP from the drawer over there — you can take that to the police sergeant to make it official.”
He said that a part of the checkpost was also damaged due to explosion of suicide jacket and grenade attack. He said that an extensive search operation was immediately launched in the surrounding localities jointly by police and counter-terrorism department personnel to trace and arrest the attackers, who managed to escape.

Nobody grabbed credit of the attack till filing of the report while police officials said that they recently received threats from krazed killer groups and were on high alert.

Sources told Dawn that the attack was carried out at a time when there was rush on the main road. They said that traffic was immediately suspended while the motorists and passersby ran for cover in the surrounding localities. No civilian was, however, affected in the attack.

In Lakki Marwat, a search operation was launched after a clash between police and holy warriors in a forest along the Kurrum River in Ihsanpur area on Thursday.

Officials said that the clash took place when a large police contingent raided the hideout of holy warriors in the dense forest locally called Darga.

"Terrorists fired at police with automatic weapons. They also used rocket launchers and other heavy weapons," they said. They added that the forest spreading over a vast area along the river was used by the holy warriors as safe haven.

Ihsanpur area is located on plain and saline lands between Gambila and Kurrum rivers. A bridge over the Gambila River links the area with Lakki Marwat city.

The trans-Kurrum river locality known as Kurrum Par area borders Karak and Mianwali districts where several terrorist attacks on police force had taken place in the recent months. Six coppers had embraced martyrdom when holy warriors attacked them in the Kurrm Par area two months ago.

Officials said that coppers were dispatched to the area on credible information about the presence of holy warriors in in the forest. They said that a police van was damaged in the attack by terrorists. "Policemen equipped with modern and heavy weapons also took positions and returned the fire bravely," they added.

They said that the coppers engaged the holy warriors until an additional contingent reached there to assist them. They said that security forces and commandos of Quick Response Force (QRF) also reached Ihsanpur area and took part in the operation against terrorists.

Officials said that the coppers and soldiers remained unhurt in the fierce shootout. "The law enforcers have besieged the forest and a search operation is under way," they said.

Al-Shabaab attack leaves soldiers and militants dead near Baidoa

on the outskirts of Baidoa, the interim seat of Southwest State on Thursday as the Somali president visits the region.

The skirmish started following an ambush attack against the army base in Goofgaduud, a small town that lies 30 kilometers away from Baidoa, according to the local residents.

The two sides engaged heavy and small weapons during the battle that inflicted losses on the SNA forces and al-Shabaab krazed killers.

Southwest State’s justice minister Hassan Abdulkadir Mohammed who was in the area at the time of the attack said al-Shabaab faced army resistance and lost a number of fighters.

Mohammed confirmed that at least 20 al-Shabaab krazed killers, including leading commanders, have been neutralized and battle vehicles destroyed in the SNA’s counter-attack

The regional justice minister said the army lost three soldiers who were at the base that came under an al-Shabaab attack in the morning.

The SNA base raid comes days after Somali president Hassan Sheikh speaking at the Baidoa reconciliation conference said on Tuesday that 2nd phase of the anti-al-Shabaab operation will start soon in Southwest State.

Resilience: More oil and gas to be produced in Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo?
Yes, it will take a while to bring production on line, but more diversified suppliers will weaken the power of big producers like Russia and Iran.
Ethiopia discovers new oil deposits

[Garowe] Æthiopia has discovered new oil deposits which if explored would tremendously change the economy of the Horn of Africa nation which has lately been struggling with internal conflicts and civil war in the northern state of Tigray.

Tekele Uma Banti, the Minister of Mines and Petroleum, confirmed the news on Wednesday, noting that exploration will begin immediately to the benefit of the people of Æthiopia. Æthiopia is a landlocked nation that solely depends on oil imports from the Middle East and other parts of Africa.

A study conducted in Warra IIuu within Abay Basin, he said, shows that the country has more than 2 billion barrels of crude oil. This, he noted, would help the country reduce foreign imports besides increasing employment opportunities for thousands of struggling people in the country.

"Oil exploration is being conducted in 5 basins throughout Æthiopia. In an oil exploration study conducted in Warra Iluu, part of the Abay basin, the study showed that there are more than 2 billion barrels of crude oil," the minister said in a tweet after meeting several stakeholders.

"The government is working on utilizing the crude oil resources discovered, to ensure the prosperity of the nation," added the minister, who is a staunch supporter of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, an engineer who has struggled to contain growing rebellion in the country, that has left thousands of people dead.

Should the country kickstart exploration, it means Æthiopia will be one of the biggest oil-producing nations in East Africa and the entire Horn of Africa, which heavily relies on foreign imports which come mainly from the Middle East and northern part of Africa.

Æthiopia will join the league of South Sudan which has the rich potential of oil but has not been fully explored due to the civil war that has lasted for decades. It was anticipated that South Sudan would be able to serve the entire region, which has a significant shortage of petroleum products.

US and Canada firms win a new gas exploration in DR Congo

[Garowe] In a bid to expand energy access and strengthen international partnerships, the Democratic Republic of the Congo
...formerly the Congo Free State, Belgian Congo, Zaire, and who knows what else, not to be confused with the Brazzaville Congo aka Republic of Congo, which is much smaller and much more (for Africa) stable. DRC gave the world Patrice Lumumba and Joseph Mobutu, followed by years of tedious civil war. Its principle industry seems to be the production of corpses. With a population of about 74 million it has lots of raw material...
(DRC) has awarded licenses for the exploration of three natural gas blocks in Lake Kivu to companies from the United States and Canada.

The country’s Hydrocarbons Ministry announced that US-based developer Symbion Power’s local subsidiary, RED, will be taking on the Makelele oil block, while the Idjwi block has been granted to another American company, Winds Exploration and Production LLC.

While the Canada-based Alfajiri Energy will be responsible for the Lwandjofu block. The awarding of these licenses is part of a larger licensing round that includes 27 onshore oil blocks, some of which are located in the Congo’s rainforest and peatlands, raising concerns about potential environmental impacts.

The development aligns with the DRC’s goal to grow its energy access from 10% of the population to 32% by 2030. The DRC hopes to tap into the vast amounts of methane underneath Lake Kivu to generate electricity, similar to its neighbor Rwanda.

The lake is estimated to hold enough methane to produce 700 Megawatts of electricity in the next 50 years, and it is projected that production could begin as early as 2024.

Production-sharing contracts are set to be signed within the next 15 days, marking a significant step forward in the DRC’s relationship with the United States and Canada in the energy sector.

Kenyan security forces kill 10 [or 18+] al-Shabab militants in border region
[ShabelleMedia] Kenyan security forces on Wednesday killed 10 al-Shabaab

gunnies in Garissa county in the northeastern region.

Northeastern Regional Police Commander George Seda said the multi-agency security team conducted an intelligence-led operation on the al-Shabaab hideout at Degbon after trailing the bandidos Death Eaters for a week.

"The multi-agency team also recovered weapons including rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), AK-47 rifles, and improvised bomb materials," Seda said in a security report.

He said the killing of the bandidos Death Eaters followed a tip-off from residents, adding that the operation was ongoing and would not divulge much.

Other officials said multi-agency teams are on the ground pursuing more targets hiding in the area and expansive Boni Forest which the gunnies have been using as their hideout place.

The move came days after the terrorist group conducted attacks in the area killing more than 10 people.

The Death Eaters were behind the recent attack and killing of four engineers working with Kenya National Highways Authority.

Al-Shabaab faceless myrmidons have been attacking places in the region, especially in Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa counties in northeastern Kenya after breaching security zones, which left dozens of civilians and security officials dead and maimed.

bully boyz following a coordinated operation in Garissa near the border, just days after President William Ruto urged security operatives to remain vigilant along the mostly non-existent border of Kenya and Somalia.

George Seda, the northeastern regional police commander said the operation was activated by multi-agency security forces coordinated by the Kenya Defense Forces following intelligence reports about the movements of the troops along the border which had been under closure for months.

The exact location of operation took place at Degabon village where the bully boyz have been hiding for several weeks. Reports indicate intelligence has been trailing the bully boyz for several months after locals made complaints to the local administration teams.

"The multi-agency team also recovered weapons including rocket-propelled grenades [RPG], AK-47 rifles, and improvised bomb materials," Seda said in a security report, which was shared with members of the media and security teams.

Seda lauded locals for sharing intelligence about the presence of the bad boys, noting that the fight against al-Shabaab is collective. " We must be vigilant and locals have confirmed as such through their tips. We are grateful for such commitment," he noted.

Other officials said multi-agency teams are on the ground pursuing more targets hiding in the area and expansive Boni Forest which the bully boyz have been using as their hideout place. The al-Shabaab has been on the run from neighboring Somalia where security operations are active.

For the last seven months, Somalia has been pursuing the bully boyz with the help of foreign troops key among them the US Africa Command, the African Union

Somalia army downs over 40 militants, anti-aircraft autocannon destroyed
[Garowe] The National Intelligence Security Agency [NISA] in coordination with the Somali National Army [SNA] eliminated over 40 al-Shabaab

bully boys, state media reported, in the latest operation targeting the bully boys, who have been engaging in retaliatory attacks across the country.

According to state media, the operation by the multi-agency security forces targeted the gunnies across Farabaako area, just south of Xawaadley in central Somalia. The operation was activated a day after Tuesday's attack against civilians in the village, a move which was seen as a provocation.

State media noted that besides the death of over 40 al-Shabaab bully boys, the al-Qaeda-linked group also has their anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon [ZU] destroyed during the sophisticated operation against the bully boys.

"Over 40 Alshabab bad boyz were potted and anti-aircraft twin-barreled autocannon [ZU] destroyed in a joint operation carried by Somali National Army and NISA in the farmlands near Hawadley village in Middle Shabelle with support of Somalia’s international security partners," state media noted.

Reports indicate that Somalia's international partners were involved in the crackdown. For the last seven months, the US Africa Command, the African Union

Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] and the local militia have been directly engaging in operations against al-Shabaab across the country.

So far, casualty figures have not been independently confirmed, but al-Shabaab usually disputes the numbers given by the government after such operations. Photos by state media show troops operating in the area, targeting some of the areas which have not been combed for the sake of civilians.

The country has increased the intensity against the al-Shabaab extortionists across the country, targeting even their revenue sources. Recently, over 250 bank accounts and 70 mobile money transfer firms were closed over close association with the al-Shabaab group.

Harvard reinstates offer to ex-Human Rights Watch chief after Israel controversy
It seemed to good to be true. It turned out it was.
[IsraelTimes] University says it was an ’error’ to rescind position from Kenneth Roth, allegedly over anti-Israel criticism, but denies claims donor influence and politics motivated move

Harvard University reinstated a fellowship offer to a prominent human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
activist muppet on Thursday in a reversal, after reports he was denied the position due to his harsh criticism of Israel touched off a major controversy.

Kenneth Roth, the former director of Human Rights Watch, was offered and accepted a one-year fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Carr Center for Human Rights Policy last year.

Roth said the school’s dean, Douglas Elmendorf, vetoed the offer in July shortly after it was made. He added that he wasn’t informed of the reason the offer was rescinded, but said he thought it was due to his criticism of Israel and donor influence.

The Nation reported on the incident earlier this month, tying the retracted offer to Israel and setting off a firestorm of controversy over academic freedom and criticism of the Jewish state. It wasn’t clear why the claims were not raised when Roth was denied the fellowship last summer.

On Thursday, Elmendorf issued a statement saying he had "made an error" and the school would again offer Roth a fellowship.

Elmendorf flatly denied that his decision was influenced by donors or politics.

"Donors do not affect our consideration of academic matters," Elmendorf said. "My decision also was not made to limit debate at the Kennedy School about human rights in any country."

"My decision on Mr. Roth last summer was based on my evaluation of his potential contributions to the School," Elmendorf added.

Roth said he was "thrilled" that Elmendorf had again extended the fellowship offer, but said the dean was not being forthcoming about his motives and that the episode had chilled academic freedom.

"He still has not said anything about the people ’who matter to him’ whom he said were behind his original veto decision. Full transparency is key," Roth said.

"Second, I remain worried about academic freedom," Roth continued. "The problem of people penalized for criticizing Israel is not limited to me."

Roth, the son of a Jewish refugee from Nazi Germany, ran HRW for three decades before retiring last year. He has since accepted a fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

He championed a range of human rights issues with the New York-based group, including a push to ban anti-personnel land mines, and the establishment of the International Criminal Court for prosecuting war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

Roth and HRW are widely praised among human rights activist muppets for their work, but their harsh criticism of Israel — including accusations of war crimes and apartheid — has angered Israeli authorities and pro-Israel groups.

In 2021, HRW issued a sweeping 213-page report accusing Israel of apartheid. Israel rejected the report, calling its "fictional claims... both preposterous and false," and accusing HRW of having "a long-standing anti-Israel agenda."

US Jewish groups also denounced the report, with the American Jewish Congress calling it a "hatchet job," and pro-Israel researchers saying it was riddled with inaccuracies.

Israel expelled HRW’s Israel director in 2019 due to his alleged support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

The founder of Human Rights Watch, Robert Bernstein, joined the group’s critics in 2009, saying it was biased against Israel and acting in bad faith.

Police detain two Palestinians in Netanya on alleged terror suspicions
[IsraelTimes] Law enforcement says pair arrested at car wash near coastal city’s market following searches; officers seen seizing knife

Officers in the coastal city of Netanya arrested two Paleostinians illegally in Israel on suspicion they were planning to commit a terror attack, police said.

According to a police spokesperson, officers, including special forces, conducted searches for the pair near the city’s market, eventually finding them at a nearby car wash.

They were detained "on suspicion of involvement in an attempt to commit security offenses," the spokesperson said. A police sapper was also at the scene "to rule out concerns."

A passerby photographed a police officer holding a knife, apparently seized from one of the men or from the area they were arrested.

Police did not elaborate on the suspicions against the two Paleostinians.

They were handed over to the Shin Bet security agency for further questioning.

Their identities were not immediately published.

Arab Israeli terrorist released after 40 years; police seek to prevent celebrations
[IsraelTimes] Maher Younis greeted by his mother in northern town of ’Ara; National Security Ministry says officers told to clamp down on any public displays of jubilation, support for terrorism

An Arab Israeli terrorist who served 40 years for murdering an Israel Defense soldier was released from prison on Thursday, with large numbers of police deployed in and around his hometown to prevent celebrations upon his arrival.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said in a statement that police were instructed to "act decisively" against any revelry or display of support for terrorism when Maher Younis arrives at his home, including enforcing a ban against displaying the Paleostinian national flag.

Younis and his cousin Karim Younis, both from the town of ’Ara in northern Israel, murdered Cpl. Avraham Bromberg in 1980. The pair were given life sentences that were commuted to 40 years by then-president Shimon Peres in 2012.

When Karim Younis was released earlier this month, public celebrations were held in his hometown despite a directive from Ben Gvir to prevent that.

Maher Younis’s family was said to be preparing for thousands of people to greet him, though they told media that they would keep to the guidelines laid down by police and would not let the event become a public rally celebrating the convict.
"It's not a public rally. They're all close friends"
Members of the Younis family were reportedly summoned by police before the release and told they could not set up a welcome tent at their home for guests. They were also warned that any Paleostinian flags displayed would be seized. The family committed to not holding public celebrations for the release.

Video circulated on social media showed Younis’s mother greeting her son with a white cloak and a garland of flowers. The pair were surrounded by a throng of people, though many appeared to be members of the media.

Footage showed dozens of chairs set up at the Younis home on Thursday morning.

After he was received by family and friends, Younis urged the "unification of all Paleostinian factions because the security prisoners are suffering a lot," according to the Kan public broadcaster.

"Together we may succeed. We are in a difficult political period and we need to fight intelligently," he said. "We are a nation of heroes. We do not surrender. The state asked not to celebrate. Regards to all the members of the prisoners’ families. I hope they will be released soon."

Younis also received a congratulatory phone call from Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
who hailed the former prisoner as a "symbol of the Paleostinian people. According to Paleostinian media reports, Younis told Abbas, "I am prepared to serve another 40 years in order to liberate the homeland of Paleostine.

The National Security Ministry said in a statement that officials had held a meeting during which "all participants agreed that the waving of terrorist flags, chants that the terrorist is a hero, and parading of murderers are illegal steps and the police were instructed to prevent them."

Police were ordered "to act decisively and resolutely against the scenes of terrorism and support for terrorism that we saw last week in ’Ara" when Karim Younis was released earlier this month, the statement said.

US group dispatches mobile ‘antisemite’ billboards to homes of anti-Israel students
It’s one thing to be a fashionably hateful bigot behind closed doors, where everyone you know thinks the same.... except for those icky Jewish Zionists that we all hate, of course. It’s quite another thing when the folks back home are made aware of what you’ve been up to. Alinsky knew what he was on about, though he never imagined the other side would pick up his techniques.
[IsraelTimes] Provocative political outfit Accuracy in Media targets neighborhoods of Berkeley Law School organizers whose groups banned Zionist speakers, sparking uproar

A political activist muppet group last week dispatched mobile billboards to the homes of anti-Israel Berkeley Law School students, accusing them of antisemitism.

The provocative campaign was the latest sally in a high-profile dispute over anti-Zionism on the University of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, campus.

The group, Accuracy in Media, said a pair of truck-mounted billboards had "visited" two students at their neighborhoods in Texas while they were home during the university’s winter break.

The signs said "Berkeley Law’s antisemite class of 2023," with the students’ names and organizations.

The president of Accuracy in Media, Adam Guillette, said the student leaders had tried to keep their names out of the controversy. The group previously named individual students on billboards in Berkeley, then in internet ads, he said.

Sending the billboards to students’ homes in another state was the latest step in the campaign, Guillette added in a statement.

"When I visited Berkeley multiple students told me how scary it was to be a Jew on campus. I’ve experienced antisemitism and I can relate. But rather than keeping our heads down and trying to avoid notice from those who hate us, we must put these antisemites on the defensive," hesaid. "Accuracy in Media will continue this campaign on and off campus for as long as is necessary."

The two student groups were among nine at the law school that banned Zionist speakers last year.

The ban led by the campus’s chapter of Students for Justice in Paleostine applied to speakers who support "Zionism, the apartheid state of Israel, and the occupation of Paleostine." It included other anti-Israel measures including a commitment to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

The decision set off an uproar after a prominent pro-Israel commentator published an op-ed saying the university had created "Jew-free zones."

A number of leading US Jewish groups condemned the school, although some Zionist students have downplayed the controversy, saying the issue was blown out of proportion.

Last month, the federal US Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights said it will investigate claims the law school hasn’t done enough to protect its Jewish students. The university said it will cooperate with the investigation and has strong anti-discrimination policies in place.

The investigation is the latest in a series by the federal office to probe anti-Jewish discrimination on college campuses under civil rights laws.

Accuracy in Media waded into the Berkeley controversy in October when it displayed an image of Adolf Hitler
...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days as a politician somebody doesn't like...
giving a Nazi salute on a mobile billboard near the campus.

"All in favor of banning Jews, raise your right hand," the billboard said.

The sign was intended to oppose antisemitism, but alarmed students and drew criticism from the Anti-Defamation League, Berkeley Hillel and the local Jewish Community Relations Council.

The ADL said of the billboard, "The addition of more antisemitism, like using Hitler imagery to score cheap rhetoric points, only trivializes the memories of the six million."

Accuracy in Media, based in Washington, DC, says it is "on the front lines of the culture war." It describes its mission as using "citizen activism and investigative journalism to expose media bias, corruption, and public policy failings."

Berkeley is a non-trivial problem. Having a prestigious public university discharge KKK level bigots into America’s already polluted supply of lawyers will plague American Juris Prudence for decades. There seems to be no Florida solution available as California politics has devolved into a Lebanon like scape where progress towards good seems impossible. The billboards in Berkeley seem like a waste of money to me as the city is a new Sodom. I can’t say that I am a fan of the mobile billboards, but I have no alternative proposal. Currently, I regard anything out of the ADL as left wing propaganda from an infiltrated institution. Let me know if I am wrong.

A son of former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has been sprung after serving more than seven years of a 10-year jail sentence for fraud, Iranian media reported Wednesday.

Mehdi Hashemi Rafsanjani, 53, left Tehran’s Evin Prison late Tuesday, his lawyer Vahid Abolmaali said, quoted by the ISNA news agency.

State prosecutors said his release was "conditional," ISNA reported.

Hashemi Rafsanjani was convicted of fraud, embezzlement and undermining national security in August 2015, charges he had previously denounced as "politically motivated."

He had served as a bigwig in Iran’s oil sector in the mid-2000s, a period when Norway’s Statoil and French energy company Total were suspected of paying bribes to obtain access to the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s hydrocarbon reserves.

In 2018, a Gay Paree criminal court found Total guilty of "corruption of a foreign public agent" for payments made to Hashemi Rafsanjani for help in securing rights to the huge South Pars offshore gas field which Iran

in the Gulf.

In 2009, Hashemi Rafsanjani aroused the anger of conservatives by forming a "vote protection committee" for that year’s presidential election.

He actively supported reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, whose allegations of large-scale fraud in favor of populist incumbent Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad prompted mass protests.

Mehdi’s father, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, served as president from 1989 to 1997 and was regarded as a moderate who supported improving ties with the West.

Earlier this month, Rafsanjani’s daughter Faezeh Hashemi was sentenced to five years in prison for "collusion against the security of the country."

She was arrested in September and convicted of inciting Tehran residents to join protests over the death in jug of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian Kurd, who had been arrested for allegedly violating Iran’s strict dress code for women.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Two Palestinians, one of them a PIJ fighter, killed during clash with IDF in Jenin
[IsraelTimes] Adham Jabareen, 28, was a commander in the terror group’s local wing, Jawad Bawaqta, 57, identified as teacher; military seizes weapons, kabooms in refugee camp.

Israeli troops clashed with Paleostinian button men during a raid in the West Bank city of Jenin early Thursday morning, with Paleostinian health officials reporting at least two killed, one of them a teacher.

The Israel Defense Forces said troops came under "massive gunfire" as they entered the Jenin refugee camp to arrest wanted Paleostinians. The IDF said the forces returned fire at the button men and at Paleostinians hurling bombs.

The fatalities were named by the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry as Adham Jabareen, 28, and Jawad Bawaqta, 57.

Jabareen was identified as a commander in a local wing of the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
, while Bawaqta was a teacher. The terror group said Bawaqta was providing Jabareen first aid after he was hit during the shootout.

The Jenin wing of PIJ claimed to have targeted Israeli troops in the city with gunfire and explosives.

The Rescuers Without Borders emergency service said two soldiers were lightly hurt after their jeep was targeted with an IED during the raid. One was taken to a hospital, while the other did not require further treatment, the service said. The IDF said the hospitalized soldier’s family was notified.

The IDF said troops seized several firearms, weapon parts, and kabooms in the camp during the raid, and arrested one person suspected of involvement in terror activities.

Paleostinian media said troops sought to arrest a senior PIJ member in the camp, Khaled Abu Zina, although he was not home at the time, and instead two of his sons were detained.

The IDF said nine more Paleostinians were arrested elsewhere across the West Bank overnight. They were all taken to be questioned by the Shin Bet security agency.

Man survives at sea for 24 days by eating ketchup and garlic powder
[NYPOST] A man from Dominica lost at sea for almost a month survived, in part, by eating ketchup, garlic powder and Maggi seasoning cubes, officials said.

Elvis Francois, who was rescued from his sailboat this week, also consumed rainwater that he scooped up with a cloth during his 24 days out in the Caribbean.

The 47-year-old got lost in December when currents pushed his sailboat out to sea as he was making repairs off the island of St. Martin in the Netherlands Antilles, which is where he calls home, he told Colombian officials.

"I called my friends, they tried to contact me, but I lost the signal. There was nothing else to do but sit and wait," Francois explained in a video released by the Colombian Navy.

He was eventually spotted by a passing plane as he used a mirror as a signal and wrote out the word "help" on the boat’s hull, according to officials.

The merchant ship CMA CGM Voltario joined in the rescue effort of sailor Elvis Francois in a photo released by the Colombian Navy, Jan. 18, 2023.
Colombian Navy

A passing container ship picked him up about 120 nautical miles northwest of the port city of Cartagena, navy officials said.

Before his miraculous survival, Francois said he had to consistently bail water out of the boat so it wouldn’t sink. He tried to set a fire as a distress signal, he said, but that failed.

"At some point I lost hope and thought about my family, but I thank the coasties. If it weren’t for them I wouldn’t be telling the story," Francois said.

But with that LSD Media Dig out of the way made.

The economy is slowly returning to near normal.
The Pandemic scare is winding down, despite attempts to find something new to cause panic over.

More just want out of the house to roam and shop.

Many national chain stores are losing the ROI war and are cutting prices 40% to 75% to clear older inventory (eg. Bed Bath & Beyond).

Many see the cost of shipping and wait times for common items has become ridiculous, they see it costs less to drive and shop. Heck, even my neighbor stopped ordering delivered groceries.

Porch Privates are having to find a new criminal trade skill.

The downside of this.
Those of us that frequent BIN Stores are not seeing the $50+ items on $6 day like we were in 2020-2022. No more overlooked DDR4 3200 16gb Ram or Seagate 6TB drives packages for $1 on day days either.

13-year-old boy charged in shooting of two other teens outside NYC high school
[NYPOST] A 13-year-old boy has been charged for allegedly striking two other teens when he opened fire during a melee near a Queens high school, police said Thursday.

The teen — whose name was not released because he is a minor — was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment over the Wednesday shooting that maimed a 16-year-old girl and 14-year-old boy outside Campus Magnet High School in Cambria Heights .

The girl was struck in the ankle and the boy in the leg during the mayhem that ensued at a bus stop outside the school at around 4:50 p.m., cops said.

The victims, who are students at the school, were each taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sources said police saw the young shooter drop a gun as he tried to run away from the scene. The weapon was later recovered by cops.

Klingon Director Burns told Zelenskyy in 'secret meeting' that vital aid fueling Ukraine's fight could become harder to obtain
[Bus Insider via MSN] During a secret meeting in Kyiv with CIA Director William Burns earlier this month, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was especially focused on the prospect of future US assistance in the ongoing war effort and whether or not Republican lawmakers in the House will continue to provide spending, according to The Washington Post.

Anonymous sources told the outlet that Burns traveled to the Ukrainian capital at the end of last week to meet with Zelenskyy and discuss the agency's forecast of Russia's imminent military plans. The visit comes nearly one year after Russia launched an unprovoked war in Ukraine in February 2022.

Burns' trip coincides with mounting casualties on both sides as a Russian assault in the east has forced Ukraine to respond while it simultaneously tried to conserve weapons and bodies for a future counteroffensive.

During the Kyiv meeting last week, Zelenskyy and his senior intelligence officials were most concerned about ongoing US aid, sources told The Post, asking Burns how long Ukraine could expect the assistance to continue in the aftermath of Republicans taking control of the House and diminishing support for the war among the US electorate.

Burns and crew are at the controls, shocking !

DuckDuckGo not all it's quacked up to be
[Breitbart] DuckDuckGo, the search engine that bills itself as a privacy-centered alternative to Google, but appears to censor conservative news to an even greater degree than its giant competitor, has been dinged by a privacy ratings service for lacking transparency.

Neutronian’s annual Data Privacy Scores have placed DuckDuckGo, which monetizes its services through Microsoft-owned Bing, in the bottom 10 percent of companies for data privacy, partly because of its weak transparency.

"DuckDuckGo, a search engine marketing its services based on privacy, but monetize services through Bing, got dinged for lack of disclosure and transparency," Timur Yarnall, CEO at Neutronian, told MediaPost.

DuckDuckGo has long presented itself as the plucky, values-driven alternative to Google. But the search engine appears to censor its results just as much, if not more, than its Big Tech rival.

Like Google, DuckDuckGo has a News Tab, where Breitbart News appears to be completely excluded. Searches for the exact string of a Breitbart News headline in DuckDuckGo’s news tab yield no results. The Daily Caller and Newsmax also appear to be completely banned from the News Tab.

Google censors conservative media too, as Breitbart News has extensively covered. But DuckDuckGo seems to be no better. The search engine’s CEO has publicly boasted about "down-ranking sites associated with disinformation."

Lead Time to Replace Munitions Supplied to Ukraine - Status FUBAR
[CSIS] As the United States transfers massive amounts of weapons, munitions, and supplies to Ukraine, questions arise about the health of U.S. inventories. Are inventories getting too low? How long will it take to rebuild those inventories? An earlier CSIS commentary identified those inventories that are at risk as a result of transfers to Ukraine. This commentary continues that analysis by examining inventory replacement times. Most inventories, though not all, will take many years to replace. For most items, there are workarounds, but there may be a crisis brewing over artillery ammunition.
There is a nice table, colour coded, of the systems under discussion. Most are tagged with red — unlikely to rebuild inventories within five years. Discussion at the link.

It's like allowing your fire department to rust away without maintenance and proper equipment replacement, then have a big fire. A day late and a dollar short. You want a deep stockpile and maintain a active production capacity to buy you as much time as necessary to put off having the decision to 'push the button' or not.

That act forced the scientific community to expand trials on alternative sourcing which blossomed into a "we can grow stem cells from anything" solution.

#9  Looking at the long term future of the war, I would guesstimate Western military production capabilities to be roughly comparable to Russia. There are transportation issues that Russia does not have, and a "last mile" problem once stuff gets to Ukraine. Heavy equipment moves by rail. Rail in Ukraine is powered by electricity. Remember the on-going strikes against the Ukr electric grid? They are not going to stop.

The thing in short supply will be Ukrainians. I am not sure how NATO will deal with that. Perhaps at that point, we will decide that Russia has had enough.

California MS-13 member accused of 10-year-old's torture and murder is in US illegally: source
[FOXNEWS] A suspected MS-13 gang member set to go on trial next week for the horrific 2018 slaying of his Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, girlfriend's 10-year-old son is a native of El Salvador and living in the U.S. illegally, according to a law enforcement source.

Kareem Ernesto Leiva, 37, and his American girlfriend Heather Maxine Barron, 33, are both charged with murder and torture in the death of her son, Anthony Avalos, as well as child abuse against two other children in the home, court records show.

Prosecutors allege the boy had been beaten, starved, forced to kneel on rice, force-fed, whipped and more in a home where he was allegedly subjected to "extreme physical pain and suffering."

While in jail, Leiva allegedly shanked another inmate, according to court documents, and was accused of domestic violence against females in both 2010 and 2013.

His brother, Mauricio Leiva, is another alleged MS-13 member who was indicted in a federal racketeering case against a deadly drug ring in 2016, court documents show.

Leiva and Barron's murder trial in Los Angeles is scheduled to begin next week. Jonathan Hatami, who rose to prominence as the lead prosecutor in the Gabriel Fernandez trial, and Saeed Teymouri are assigned to the case.

Crowder: I didn't want to do this...
I think Crowder was in the wrong, solely because of his lack of discretion, but that's just me. Myself, I would have kept quiet, and let my actions speak.

I didn't realize Crowder was a millionaire, so I suspect his next move will be to set up his own network. The costs to startup are low, but those costs tend to mushroom over time as the platform scales up, and they mushroom quickly.

There is also the time commitment to manage the thing — unless he has those skills, he may want to hire someone to handle it for him. Responding to this from yesterday.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The West finally staked on a war with Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Petr Akopov

[RIA] At the forum in Davos, they say that only the defeat of Russia will bring peace to Europe, and in order to achieve it, Ukraine needs to supply significantly more weapons. Moreover, the leaders of the EU and NATO in the interviews they give on the sidelines of the forum speak more frankly than from its rostrum.

Thus, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, told CNN that "Ukraine needs all the military equipment it can handle, including advanced systems," and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, in an interview with Reuters, said that "this is a turning point in the war and the need for significant increase support for Ukraine": "If we want to reach a peaceful negotiated solution tomorrow, we must provide more weapons today."

Olaf Scholz spoke about a turning point, or rather, a turning point, at the end of February , but then the chancellor spoke about Germany and Europe as a whole, promising to accept the challenge of the time and respond to "Russia's aggression." Now - after the decision to start deliveries of German infantry fighting vehicles and on the eve of the decision to transfer German tanks - Scholz was specific:

“In order for the war to end, Russian aggression must be defeated. That is why we are constantly supplying Ukraine with a large number of weapons in close cooperation with our partners. This includes air defense systems such as IRIS-T or Patriot, artillery and armored infantry fighting vehicles , which marks a profound turn in German foreign and security policy."

That is, the turn in 11 months of hostilities led Berlin to the supply of heavy weapons: no matter how the Germans resisted, the taboo was lifted, they were forced to participate in the war with Russia in all formats, except for the direct participation of German troops. At the same time, Scholz, Stoltenberg and von der Leyen say they do not want to fight with Russia and want to avoid a direct clash between NATO and the Russians. You just need to increase the supply of weapons to Kiev - and then Russia will inevitably lose. After all, as Scholz said, "Russia has already suffered a complete fiasco in achieving its imperialist goals": "Ukraine is successfully defending itself and demonstrating courage."

Of course, showing confidence that Russia's defeat is inevitable is part of the war with Russia. It would be strange if Western leaders simultaneously called for more arms supplies and doubted Ukraine's victory. One can only worry about insufficient support for Kiev and that there will not be enough shells and guns: it was not for nothing that the influential German expert, the founder of the Munich Security Conference, Wolfgang Ischinger called on the West for a war economy:

"Sooner or later, we will have no choice but to supply more modern Western equipment if we do not want Ukraine to be defeated. <...> Ukraine is forced to use up such an amount of ammunition per day that we can produce only in six months. "Obviously our stocks will run out. What does this mean? Who will provide the supplies? The war economy means that we in NATO and Europe must take the initiative in a coordinated manner and, in connection with the fighting, call on European defense companies to produce more weapons and ammunition."

Europe has already been mentally prepared for the need for a long war with Russia at the hands of Ukrainians - now it remains to prepare it physically. And at the same time continue to assure everyone that everything is under control and there is no risk of the conflict escalating to a direct clash between Russia and NATO. That is, the West is sure that it will be able to defeat Russia, while it itself will not suffer, and will save Ukraine? Yes, most of the establishment is betting precisely on this, allowing (in the worst case for itself) only the loss of Ukraine. But not a threat to Europe itself.

Although in words many of them constantly talk about this - about how Russian aggression in Ukraine threatens European security - in reality, almost none of the European leaders (with the exception of the Poles, but this is a special case) does not believe in this.

Of course, they do not want to lose Ukraine at the same time. But after all, even if the Russians return it to themselves, then at what cost! Huge - human, financial, reputational.

Even taking Ukraine, Russia will be weakened and isolated, it will not have the strength to expand - and all thanks to our determination to support Kyiv, European leaders convince themselves. In any case, we win: either we keep Ukraine, or we exhaust Russia so that it either falls apart or will be restored for decades. And for us, Europe, it will cost practically nothing: well, economic problems, we will endure, besides, then it is quite likely that the Russians will still return to the supply of their energy resources - they have nowhere to go.

Dangerous illusion? Never mind. The main thing is that many of the decision makers in the West believe in it. And the price that the West can actually pay is openly discussed only by counter-elite or truly opposition forces - and they directly talk about the risk of being drawn into a global war, and about the split of Europe, and about its falling into disenfranchised dependence on the Anglo-Saxons, and even about the threat of a sharp accelerating the process of dismantling the entire Atlantic world order. But they are not listened to, although in France , and in Germany, and in Italy there are plenty of such voices.

They are also heard in the USA : to a lesser extent among politicians, to a greater extent among serious scientists, experts in geopolitics. Back in the middle of last year, one of the realists was Henry Kissinger : the former secretary of state did not at all sympathize with Russia's interests, but at least acknowledged their existence and pointed out the danger of slipping into a global war.

In late spring last year, speaking at the previous Davos forum (which was postponed from the beginning of the year), he called for early negotiations, fearing that otherwise NATO would be drawn into a war with Russia. Then Kissinger was scolded in Kiev - not for the cause, but simply because he did not talk about the return of Crimea and Donbass.

Although even then he declared that he was ready to abandon his idea of a neutral Ukraine, which would be a bridge between Russia and Europe, despite the fact that earlier, including after 2014, he recognized the danger of the West’s attempts to drag Ukraine over to him - for supporters of a war with Russia to the bitter end, Kissinger was too "dove". And already in the fall, the former Secretary of State spoke directly about the fact that Ukraine should eventually be accepted in one form or another or tied to NATO.

And now he spoke again in Davos - and repeated this thought:

"I used to be against Ukraine's membership in NATO because I was afraid that everything that we are seeing today would start as a result. Now (since the process has reached this point anyway), the very idea of a neutral Ukraine has lost all meaning. With the completion of the NATO process, in whatever form it may develop in the future, it must guarantee Ukraine a place in its ranks. This will be an appropriate and justified step."

That is, after winning the war with Russia, Ukraine should be accepted into NATO? Yes, Kissinger believes so, while declaring that "even against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict" he believes "in dialogue with Russia", "in the cessation of hostilities, the restoration of the pre-February situation and the continuation of negotiations on further development with the participation of Europe, America and Russia."

Moreover, he is confident not only that it is possible to achieve the defeat of Russia (calling it a "ceasefire") by increasing the supply of weapons to Ukraine, but also that Russia will then change its attitude towards Europe in a way that is beneficial to the West:

“Another goal is to prevent conflict against Russia as such by allowing it to rejoin the international system. Countries that have been under Russian pressure for almost the entire Cold War may find this inappropriate, but in the new circumstances, Russia may well re-evaluate their traditional view of things, which is based on a mixture of attraction to the culture of Europe and fear of its potential dominance.

That is, what happens? The West will defeat Russia, will finally take Ukraine for itself, and the Russians will realize that they were wrong and will be asked to return to the "rules-based world order", that is, they recognize the right of the West not only to lead the world, but also to take the territory of historical Russia? Yes, this is exactly what Kissinger means, and he also persuades those who call to go to the end, that is, until the collapse of Russia:

“Giving the Russians a chance to rethink their dependence on the military is all the more important because the collapse of Russia as a state capable of pursuing its own policy will entail internal conflict throughout its vast territory in 11 time zones, as well as intervention from other countries. wait a minute, there are over 15,000 nuclear warheads."

These are the "pigeons" in the Atlantic elite. Yes, they are smarter than "hawks", but there is absolutely nothing to talk about, let alone negotiate with them. For the West, the bet on the defeat of Russia becomes uncontested - the Atlanticists discuss only the scale of this defeat. "Doves-realists" say that it is necessary to defeat Russia on the Ukrainian battlefield and stop there, because the complete defeat of Russia is dangerous both with a nuclear war and the collapse of a nuclear state. And the "hawks" suggest not to worry about the consequences: the more Russia loses, the better for the West.

Both of these positions are dangerous, not for Russia, but for the West itself. The impossibility of an objective assessment of reality makes it impossible to predict the development of the situation and weakens the one who still considers himself a hegemon. Both the wrong assessment of Russia and the underestimation of its capabilities have more than once led to catastrophic consequences for those who bet on its defeat.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: January 19th, 2023
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:09 Zelensky said that today he held a regular meeting of the Headquarters, to which new participants in the meeting were involved - in particular, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, head of the National Police Igor Klymenko. Also in the meeting today were the leaders of some of the OVA, who reported on the implementation of the law on national resistance. "The Commander-in-Chief, as well as the commander of the hottest operational direction on the front - Khortitsa, reported at Headquarters. We are taking appropriate steps to strengthen our units in the battle for Donbass," the president said.

22:56 Zelensky said in an evening video message that a coalition of partners for the transfer of tanks to Ukraine has already been formed: "Now we are waiting for a decision from virtually one European capital, which will activate the prepared chains of cooperation on tanks. I believe that the strength of German leadership will remain unchanged."

The President also noted that Ukraine is preparing for tomorrow's Ramstein: "We are waiting for strong decisions. And we are waiting for a powerful package of military support from the United States."

22:27 Nine European countries on Thursday, January 19, signed the Tallinn Declaration, which contains a commitment to large-scale military assistance to Ukraine. The unprecedented package will include tanks, self-propelled artillery mounts and Brimstone missiles. For more details, see Large- Scale Military Assistance to Ukraine .

21:38 The United States still sees no point in providing Ukraine with Abrams tanks due to difficulties with their maintenance, said Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.

21:25 The US Department of Justice plans in the coming months to begin the process of transferring part of the confiscated assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine through the State Department, said Andrew Adams, director of the US Treasury Department's task force on the identification and confiscation of illegally earned assets.

He recalled that at the end of December, the US Congress approved, and President Biden signed the law on the state budget for 2023, among the provisions of which the right of the Ministry of Justice to transfer the confiscated funds of the State Department in order to provide assistance to Ukraine was determined. At the same time, Adams stressed that these sums are "minor compared to the cost of the catastrophe caused by Russia to the people of Ukraine on Ukrainian soil."

21:19 Photos and videos are circulating online, showing how air defense systems are being installed on administrative buildings in Moscow .

21:13 The Netherlands is ready to pay for Leopard tanks, which will be delivered to Ukraine as part of a coalition of European allies and NATO, Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren said. She recalled that the Netherlands had previously paid for the shipment of Soviet T-72 tanks from the Czech Republic to Kyiv, and this approach could be repeated for German-made Leopard tanks.

Ollongren added that Poland and Finland are ready to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine as part of a coalition: "We are all waiting to hear Germany's position on this, but I am in favor of trying to find a solution and send tanks to Ukraine."

20:24 Zelensky said that he had a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi: "I am grateful for the positive decision to deploy agency inspectors at our nuclear power plants. Our teams are working to strengthen the security of nuclear infrastructure. Continued shelling of Ukrainian nuclear power plants by the Russian Federation is unacceptable."

20:19 Ukrainian banker Denis Kireev, who died during the detention of the SBU in March 2022, warned Ukrainian intelligence about the Kremlin’s plans to seize Kiev and even indicated the direction of the invasion. Details about this mysterious story can be found in the article Murder of a Ukrainian agent .

20:15 Hungary has blocked another tranche of EU aid to Kiev in the amount of 500 million euros. It was supposed to be allocated from the "peace fund", from which the EU countries finance lethal weapons and protective equipment for Ukraine, RMF FM radio station reports. The radio station notes that the EU countries will put pressure on Budapest on January 22 during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries.

19:56 Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, after talking with Kuleba, decided to accept the invitation and visit Kiev, writes The Times of Israel. Cohen will be the highest-ranking Israeli official to visit Ukraine since the start of the war.

19:24 Several countries will announce the sending of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine during a meeting in the Ramstein format on January 20, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushaushkas said.

19:17 Ministers of defense of nine European countries signed the Tallinn Declaration containing commitments for further military assistance to Ukraine. The document was signed by Great Britain, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The signatories note that a new level of support for Ukraine requires the provision of tanks and air defense / missile defense systems.

18:59 Zelensky said that he had a telephone conversation with UAE President Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nagayan: "He expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of the development of bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates. He thanked for the support at the UN, humanitarian support and significant support from generators. We also discussed the implementation of the peace formula" .

18:32 Lithuania will give Ukraine dozens of L-70 anti-aircraft guns, ammunition and two Mi-8 helicopters.

18:28 Poland announced that it would give Ukraine a new package of military assistance, which will include S-60 anti-aircraft guns and 70,000 ammunition for them.

17:46 Zelensky said that many partners would like to provide tanks to Ukraine, but are forced to wait for permission from the producing country. In particular, according to him, Poland, Finland, Portugal, Spain "and a sufficient number of other countries" announced their readiness to transfer tanks to Kyiv.

17:32 The Serbian government has decided to send humanitarian aid to Ukraine to support the energy system. The amount of aid is not reported.

16:57 Zelensky said that Ukraine should start negotiations on EU membership this year.

16:46 Denmark will send 19 French Caesars to Ukraine, the country's Ministry of Defense reported.

16:12 The death toll as a result of a missile attack on a high-rise building in Dnipro on January 14 has increased to 46 people , said the head of the OVA, Valentin Reznichenko. At the same time, 11 dead have not yet been identified, the same number remain missing. 80 people were injured, 24 victims remain in hospitals. Three are in serious condition, including a nine-year-old child.

16:07 London will send 600 Brimstone surface-to-surface missiles to Kiev, said British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace.

15:48 Zelensky said that he had held "meaningful talks" in Kiev with President of the European Council Charles Michel: "Ukraine and the European Union have already achieved significant results in our historical rapprochement. We are working to achieve even more."

15:31 Borrell said that almost all EU countries will stop buying Russian energy resources by the end of the year. "Perhaps Hungary will be an exception for political reasons," he added.

14:49 Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahian said that Tehran, despite "excellent relations" with Moscow, does not recognize the annexation of the occupied Ukrainian territories.

14:42 Budanov, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, said that Ukrainian banker Denis Kireev, who allegedly died during the arrest of the SBU in March 2022, warned intelligence about the Russian attack and even indicated the direction of the invasion. "If not for Mr. Kireev, most likely, Kyiv would have been taken," Budanov said.

14:23 Due to Russia's sabotage of the grain corridor, exports of Ukrainian agricultural products almost halved in November-December, the Ministry of Infrastructure reported. Thus, the volume of exports could already reach 25-29 million tons, however, during the period of the agreement, from August 1, 17.8 million tons of grain were sent from the ports of Big Odessa to 40 countries of the world.

13:47 The European Parliament by a majority of votes adopted a resolution in support of the creation of an international tribunal to investigate the crimes of Russia and Belarus, including their top leadership. The creation of the tribunal is expected to fill a vacuum in international criminal justice and complement the investigative efforts of the International Criminal Court, as it is currently unable to investigate the crime of aggression when it concerns Ukraine.

13:24 11 people remain missing after a rocket attack on a multi-storey building in Dnipro on January 14, the regional police said. The police received more than 560 statements on the fact of the missile attack. Of these, 420 related to damaged property, 43 - damage to cars and ten - administrative buildings.

12:56 Lukashenka said at a meeting with Lavrov that Ukraine "pleasantly surprises" him, because he does not go to provocations against Belarus, which Western partners allegedly push her to do.

12:19 Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson announced the transfer of 155-mm Archer wheeled howitzers, 50 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles and NLAW anti-tank grenade launchers to Ukraine.

12:15 Peskov said that "the sooner Zelensky shows willingness to take into account Russia's demands, the sooner everything will end."

12:07 Since the beginning of the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, the Security Service of Ukraine has been investigating more than 2,000 criminal proceedings against collaborators. As part of these proceedings, almost a thousand people have already received a notice of suspicion. Among them are former deputies and officials who supported the invaders and voluntarily offered their help to them.

11:34 Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that if Warsaw does not receive permission from Germany to re-export Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine in the near future, it will "act as it should." "We will either get this consent quickly, or we will do what we need to do," he stressed.

11:29 Estonia will provide Ukraine with another package of military assistance worth 113 million euros, which is the largest amount of assistance provided by the country so far. Thus, the total amount of military assistance from Estonia to Ukraine will increase to 370 million euros, or just over 1% of the country's GDP.

This time the package will include dozens of 155-mm and 122-mm howitzers, thousands of shells and trucks for their use, more than a hundred Carl-Gustav anti-tank guns and more than a thousand pieces of ammunition for them.

11:25 Electricity consumption in Ukraine is predicted to be slightly less than the day before, due to warm weather. But the shortage of power in the power system remains significant, especially during the evening peak, when generation can cover only 75% of consumption, Ukrenergo said. Consumption limits for the whole day have been brought to all oblenergos.

10:51 The next Conference for the Restoration of Ukraine will be held in London in June 2023, Shmyhal said.

10:36 The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that he was going to Kyiv.

10:34 Medvedev again threatens the world with nuclear weapons. According to him, the loss of a nuclear power in a "conventional war" can provoke the start of a nuclear one, "and nuclear powers do not lose major conflicts on which their fate depends."

10:31 Britain, in addition to 14 Challenger 2 tanks, will supply Ukraine with heavy artillery and more than 200 units of other armored vehicles, Foreign Minister James Cleverly said.

10:26 Zelensky, during his speech at the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos, said that the slowdown in the process at the front was not due to the weather, but to the provision of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the president, the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot survive on motivation alone - it is necessary to increase the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Zelensky also called "not a very correct strategy" the condition to provide Kyiv with tanks only after other countries make a similar decision.

In addition, Zelensky said that he was not sure that Putin is alive and makes decisions himself: “Today I don’t quite understand who to talk to and what to talk about. he is. I don't fully understand that he is alive, whether he makes decisions, or someone makes decisions. Who is this circle of people? I have no information."

The President also called the weak point of Ukraine's air defense system and said that Russia is preparing to use another batch of Iranian drones, which will last for several weeks or months. In addition, he explained that Ukraine needs long-range missile systems not for strikes against Russia, but in order to reach the temporarily occupied territories, from which the Russian Federation is shelling Ukrainian cities.

As for Crimea, Zelensky said that with Western weapons, Ukraine will be able to reclaim its land, but Russia has the opportunity to withdraw from this territory and save the lives of its people.

09:57 Kuleba and Reznikov issued a joint statement calling on all allied states to expedite the provision of weapons, since the threat of a new full-scale offensive from Russia is real. The ministers note that the enemy still has a significant advantage in the number of troops and equipment, and the leadership of the Russian Federation is set for a long and active war.

09:25 In the Kherson region over the past day, four people were injured due to Russian shelling, the head of the OVA, Yaroslav Yanushevich, said.

09:19 France is considering sending Leclerc tanks to Ukraine, Politico writes citing a French official. This may be done in order "to give Berlin a general reason for the supply of tanks." At the same time, "the issue is complex and has not yet been resolved in Paris," the source said.

09:15 British intelligence reports that Russia is likely considering deploying a small number of its new T-14 Armata main battle tanks in Ukraine. Analysts recalled that at the end of December, T-14s were visible in the pictures at a training ground in southern Russia. This came after pro-government Russian media claimed that T-14s were being prepared for deployment. However, it is not clear if Russia moved this type of tanks to Ukraine.

At the same time, intelligence believes that the deployment of the T-14 will be a risky decision for Russia. During its 11 years of development, the program was plagued by delays, reductions in planned fleet size, and reports of production problems. An additional challenge for Russia is adjusting its supply chain to service the T-14, as it is larger and heavier than other Russian tanks.

If Russia deploys the T-14, then, most likely, primarily for propaganda purposes, according to the British Ministry of Defense. Intelligence notes that probably only a few dozen tanks were produced, and commanders are unlikely to trust the vehicle in battle.

08:54 In the Donetsk region over the past day, as a result of Russian shelling, four civilians were injured - in Avdeevka, Khromovo, Ivanovsky and Chasovoy Yar, said the head of the OVA Pavel Kirilenko.

08:31 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy as of the morning of January 19.

  • personnel - about 118,530 (+760) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 3136 (+6),

  • armored combat vehicles - 6235 (+10),

  • artillery systems - 2122 (+14),

  • MLRS - 442 (+0),

  • air defense systems - 220 (+0),

  • aircraft - 287 (+0),

  • helicopters - 277 (+1),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 1882 (+6),

  • cruise missiles - 749 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 17 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 4896 (+7),

  • special equipment - 190 (+0).

08:25 Over the past day, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled attacks by invaders in the areas of the settlements of Belogorovka, Luhansk region and Terny, Verkhnekamenskoe, Soledar, Salt, Krasnaya Gora, Bakhmut, Klescheevka, Aleksandro-Shultino, Kurdyumovka, Vodiane, Maryinka, Pobeda and Paraskoveevka Donetsk area, said the General Staff in the morning summary .

06:10 The United States is completing the preparation of a large package of military assistance to Ukraine, the volume of which may amount to $ 2.6 billion, CNN reports, citing informed sources. The package is not yet finalized, but may be provided before the end of the week. It is one of the largest announced since the beginning of the war.

It is already known that the package, which is planned to be announced following a meeting at the Ramstein base on January 20, will include more Bradley armored fighting vehicles, which, combined with the Stryker, is a significant increase in the number of armored vehicles. The list also included anti-mine vehicles, known as MRAPs.

The package is not expected to include tanks or long-range missiles, which Ukraine has repeatedly requested. However, it is likely that the United States will transfer more ammunition to Ukraine for artillery systems and HIMARS systems.

04:28 Washington believes that each country should make its own decision on security assistance to Ukraine, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in response to Scholz's condition, according to which he will allow Leopard 2 tanks to be supplied to Kiev only if the United States will also decide on the supply of their Abrams tanks.

Jean-Pierre noted that the States welcome the decision of Germany and Britain to provide military equipment and weapons. According to her, the "solidarity of nations" in supporting Ukraine is obvious. However, "this is the decision of each country." At the same time, the White House press secretary recalled that the United States is the largest supplier of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

03:10 Republicans Michael McCall and Mike Rogers issued a statement calling on the Biden administration to urgently transfer to Ukraine weapons systems "necessary to defeat the occupiers in the war unleashed by Russia."

01:17 Russia uses railway tanks for the secret transfer of its military personnel to the territory of Belarus, the Belarusian edition Nasha Niva reports. Journalists note that Russia is taking such actions to mislead satellite and visual surveillance. "Whether military equipment and ammunition are being transported to Belarus in this way or in similar disguised ways, we do not know," the publication added.

09:28 Chronicle of blows and mutual shelling in the NWO zone for the night from January 18 to January 19, 2023

08:24 Goals received, "gifts" sent -video

Calculations of 152mm howitzers D-20 artillery units of the Western Military District destroy artillery and camouflaged fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Artillery crews of D-20 howitzers use 152mm rounds. When fully charged, their firing range exceeds 17 kilometers.

Artillerymen are in counterbattery fight. They destroy MLRS, mortar crews and other targets sent by scouts. The fire is corrected with the help of drones.

“The first projectile, when we get a gap, the drones correct, and, accordingly, we introduce adjustments to the gun settings and carry out further firing,” said the calculation number of the D-20 howitzer with the call sign “Latuza”.

And so almost around the clock. In any weather. Artillerymen call it just work, but it is by no means so. Servicemen risk their lives every second, because at any moment they can be “covered” by the enemy.

In addition, the gunners have to go to reconnaissance. They determine where the calculation is located. Sometimes, the fighters say, they have to travel up to ten kilometers a day in search of a position.

08:10 There are heavy battles for Novoselovskoye: the Ukrainians are trying to break through the front near Svatovo-Kremennaya -video

--The Armed Forces of Ukraine have brought up reserves, including a large number of artillery, and are conducting incessant attacks on Novoselovsky.
--A couple of days ago, the Nazis "Kraken" and the 92nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to enter the outskirts of the settlement, which became the advanced line of our defense in this sector of the front.
--Howitzers, "Grads", mortars and even "Solntsepeki" constantly cover the enemy, preventing him from gaining a foothold.
--The enemy also placed militants and armored vehicles in Stelmahovka, from where they support groups of Nazi stormtroopers. According to the accumulation of forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this settlement. artillery strikes are also carried out.
--At the same time, our infantry, supported by tanks, was attacking in the direction of Makeevka-Nevsky and in a couple of other sectors. Details later.

Lavrov is right and usually they are not offended by the truth, but ...
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets

The European Jewish Congress called "shameful" Lavrov's
...that’s Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, of course..,
statement, in which he compared the desire of Western countries to destroy the Russians with Hitler's desire to destroy the Jews

"We are shocked and appalled by this shameful comparison made by Minister Lavrov between the actions of a coalition of democratic countries and Hitler's persecution and murder of six million Jews," EJC President Ariel Muzikant said.

Curiously, Lavrov never said a word about the Holocaust. I specifically re-read the statement of the Russian minister - he said everything politely and correctly, and absolutely nothing about the Holocaust. He only compared the work of the United States in creating a coalition to confront Russia with the actions of Napoleon and Adolf Hitler.

But the Jews of the campaign consider themselves the only victims of Hitler, and this is why such a reaction. Apparently, the logic of the representatives of the Jewish people, like this Ariel Musician, is as follows:

“Hitler sought to destroy the Jews, but the “coalition of democratic countries” destroys the Russians. This is something else altogether. True, almost all the same countries were in the coalition with Hitler. But why pay attention to such trifles? Then they wanted to destroy the Jews and this is a terrible horror, and now it’s just some Russians, and the Jews volunteer to fight on the side of the Nazis, and Israel supplies ammunition. How can you even compare?

She has such chutzpah. For Jews, only anti-Semitism matters.
What, all Jews everywhere? Don’t tell the Jewish guy who owns Facebook.
He's terrible for them. And Nazism in relation to other nations is nothing to them. Everyone should honor the Holocaust. And the rest were burned by villages and starved by cities, the losses of the USSR and China during the Second World War are another.

In short, Jews cannot be touched on the agenda of "democratic countries", but Russophobia can and should be touched. And as practice in Ukraine today shows, Jews are the best friends of the fascists. Nothing new, Lavrov is right and aptly hit the target.

Further, the wave of disputes is unlikely to be dispersed, otherwise known, but hushed up facts about the financing of Hitler by Jewish bankers will emerge in the controversy.
Non-Jewish bankers and businessmen, too, not to mention the aristocracy. They’d all observed exactly how evil the Communists of the Soviet Union were; they had no idea that Hitler and his Nazis would be just as evil once they had a country of their own.
About the contribution of influential Jews of that time to the formation of the Third Reich, the growth of Hitler's influence, the "world community" prefers to remain silent, Jews and Hitler are one of the most closed topics in the world media. The Jews will have to somehow respond to all this, but not to the diplomatic and correct Lavrov. Do the Jews need it?

P.S.
By the way, the Jews were also shocked when Lavrov said that Hitler had Jewish roots. After all, Adolf has a Jewish paternal grandfather. What Aloisoevich hid all his life.

Herr Hitler may have had a Jewish grandfather... or perhaps not. The Jewish Virtual Library discusses the question here. Though given the number of Jews who took the easy way out and converted to the dominant religion over the past two millennia, odds are good that a great many of those who have a DNA test done will turn out to have some Jewish ancestors in their family tree. It’s interesting that the Russians cling to the idea, though.

Fifth Column
Antifa protester shot dead by police at Atlanta's 'Cop City' as SEVEN are charged with domestic terrorism after state trooper injured: Activists call for a 'Night of Rage'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The usual Daily Mail collection of photos of the parties involved, and also solid journalism digging up who those people are and what they’ve been up to, following up on this story from yesterday. See also here.
  • Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, 26, was killed during a shootout in Atlanta

  • Teran was shot after allegedly opening fire at a Georgia State Patrol trooper

  • The Wednesday crossfire was at the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center

  • Seven others were charged with domestic terrorism and criminal trespass

The man killed during a deadly shootout at Atlanta's 'cop city' has been identified as Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, 26 and seven others were slapped with domestic terrorism and criminal trespass charges.

The 26-year-old was shot dead after allegedly opening fire at a Georgia State Patrol trooper during a 'clearing operation' of the so-called autonomous zone
...those Antifa types are awfully fond of taking control of a part of the city landscape that they don’t actually own...
at the site of a future $90 million Atlanta Public Safety Training Center on Wednesday.

Since June 2021, Antifa and other far-left extremists from across the US have occupied the area to prevent the construction of what they've dubbed 'cop city.'

During the multi-agency operation GBI said approximately 25 campsites were located and removed from the site.

Additionally, mortar style fireworks, multiple edged weapons, pellet rifles, gas masks, and a blow torch were recovered.

Three people contacted in connection with the materials were asked to provide their names to authorities and then let go.

Seven others were arrested and charged with domestic terrorism and criminal trespass, with additional charges pending. They include:

  • Geoffrey Parsons, age 20, of Maryland

  • Timothy Murphy, age 25, of Maine

  • Spencer Bernard Liberto, age 29, of Pennsylvania

  • Matthew Ernest Macar, age 30, of Pennsylvania

  • Sarah Wasilewski, age 35, of Pennsylvania

  • Christopher Reynolds, age 31, of Ohio

  • Teresa Shen, age 31, of New York

Shen is an alumna of the Manhattan liberal arts institution Barnard College, while Macar graduated with a master's degree in international affairs from Penn State University in 2016, according to networking site linkedin.

Liberto and Wasilewski appear to be in a relationship based on social media photos and posts, and seem to have a long history of left leaning politics.

Wasilewski's Twitter account shows she follows some Antifa groups and the '@defendatlantaforest' account, which is the main social media group representing the autonomous zone.

She has also appeared to frequently like posts from far-left extremist Pittsburgh group, Filler Distro.

Filler Distro is one of several groups calling for violent retribution against law enforcement over the death of one of its members.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also commented on the shooting and said he and his family were praying for law enforcement officers.

Some 'anonymous' members of the Atlanta Forest Defenders appeared in an Open Society Foundations-sponsored story about the autonomous zone in The Guardian.

George Soros is the chairman of the OSF and has given away more than $32billion of his personal fortune to fund the group.

In May, eight militants were arrested after police patrolling the area were assaulted and pelted with rocks and Molotov cocktails.

Five people were arrested on December 13 for allegedly plotting terror attacks at the soon-to-be police academy.

Serena Hertel, 25, of California, Leonard Voiselle, 20, of Macon, Georgia, Nicholas Dean Olson, 25, of Bennington, Nebraska, Francis M. Carroll, 22, of Kennebunkport, Maine and Arieon Robinson, 21, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were arrested.

DailyMail.com previously revealed that Carroll is the son of surgeon Dr Mike Carroll and grew up in a $2million five-bedroom and four-bathroom mansion in Kennebunkport – as well as enjoying time on his parents' yacht.

Left-wing groups used Twitter to fundraise bail for the suspects after another six were arrested in August – charged with various crimes from burglary to criminal damage.

Members of the group tried to burn a man to death after he drove into the area.

After its members were arrested the Defend the Atlanta Forest group held a protest outside of Dekalb County Jail and let off explosive fireworks.

The Atlanta Jail Support, a project of the Atlanta Solidarity Fund, also issued calls to fundraise bail money for the terror suspects using Twitter.

Convictions of domestic terrorism carry with it sentences of anywhere between five and 35 years in prison.

#2  What's obvious here is Antifa's ability to coordinate across state borders, up to and including armed confrontations with LE. I'm sure there's a legal term for this that escapes me at the moment. For their part, the Right no longer has such capability to organize. Social media and internet providers removed and banned nearly all groups containing the single word "patriot". We have ID'd and isolated while the enemy moves about freely. Not a favorable situation. What follows is predictable.

Home Front: WoT
House Republican Oversight Chairman James Comer Announces Hearing on ‘Worst Border Crisis in American History'
[Breitbart] House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced Thursday the committee will hold a hearing on the policies that have “ignited” the Biden border crisis.

Comer said in a written statement:

President Biden’s radical open borders agenda has ignited the worst border crisis in American history. The Biden Administration’s deliberate actions are fueling human smuggling, stimulating drug cartel operations, enabling deadly drugs such as fentanyl to flow into American communities, and encouraging illegal immigrants to flout U.S. immigration laws. Republicans will hold the Biden Administration accountable for this ongoing humanitarian, national security, and public health crisis that has turned every town into a border town.

The hearing, which will commence the week of February 6, could include border patrol agents, including:

  • Jason Owens, chief border patrol agent, U.S. Border Patrol

  • Gregory, chief border patrol agent, U.S. Border Patrol

  • Gloria Chavez, chief patrol agent, U.S. Border Patrol

  • Patricia McGurk-Daniel, acting chief patrol agent, U.S. Border Patrol

  • Chairman Comer also requested Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro
Mayorkas to provide documents, communications, and information about DHS’s role in “undermining efforts to secure the southern border.”

Kadyrov responded to General Sobolev, who demanded to shave off beards in the army
Direct Translation via Google Translate.

Not certain where correspondents and others got the idea that being clean shaven would be required on the front. I suspect it General Valery Gerasimov who floated the idea, since he was taking other over operations in Ukraine. My assumption.

It's the kind of thing flag officers like to do when taking on a new command.

By the way, Viktor Sobolev is a deputy with the Russian national Duma. How much pull he has with the defense ministry, I have zero clue.

[RIA Novosti] The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov , did not agree with the opinion of the deputy, Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, who announced the need to shave off his beard in the army, and asked State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin to send those wishing to check compliance with the charter of parliamentarians to the special operation zone.

"I can imagine how surprised our fighters from the front line, mobilized, volunteers - both bearded and shaved. They did not even suspect that a dangerous enemy lurked in their ranks - facial hair!" — he wrote in the Telegram channel.

Kadyrov also called the likely ban "a clear provocation designed to dampen the morale of the fighters." He noted that "these bearded men" liberated Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Lisichansk and other cities, fulfilling all the tasks set by the headquarters.

Kadyrov advised to generate useful strategic ideas that will contribute to the accomplishment of tasks, and not to find fault with the fighters for any reason. The head of Chechnya also turned to the speaker of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, with a request to send the guardians of the charter to the front line.

Earlier, Sobolev said that the ban on wearing a beard is an elementary requirement of army discipline. He clarified that the requirements for a soldier, including appearance, are spelled out in the charter of military service.

This information was later commented on by the acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin. He contacted the commandant's office and found out that "no such inspectors with such "brilliant" ideas came, no such teams descended."

-Land of the Free
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy officially ends proxy voting
[FoxNews] House Republicans have officially ended the practice of proxy voting, which was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to permit lawmakers to vote without being present in-person.

"No more proxy voting," House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., announced Thursday. "Effective immediately, Members of Congress have to show up to work if they want their vote to count."

Proxy voting was established by former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., in May 2020 to allow Congress to operate under COVID-19 pandemic protocols. Instead of showing up for votes, a member of Congress could submit a letter to have a colleague announce their position on bills and amendments and even cast votes in their name.

In 2020, 160 Republicans signed on to a lawsuit brought by McCarthy challenging the practice that was rejected by the Supreme Court. But by the end of 2021, roughly 70% of the original Republican plaintiffs had voted by proxy, according to a study by the Brookings Institute.

While proxy voting was intended as a "public health emergency" policy, lawmakers in both parties have pawned off their votes to attend campaign events and other functions entirely unrelated to their health concerns with voting in-person.

McCarthy had vowed to end the practice if Republicans captured the House majority.

"The Senate has managed to maintain in-person Floor voting for the entirety of the past two years — with a much older population and a 50-50 makeup, no less," he said in December. "From the get-go, we warned that proxy voting would be misused as a means of convenience rather than as a precaution for health — and it has been, by members of both parties."

Dozens Of WikiLeaks Cables Show US Knew NATO Expansion Was Russia's Bright Red Line
[ZERO] Nearly a year in, the war in Ukraine has cost hundreds of thousands of lives and brought the world to the brink of, in President Joe Biden’s own words, “Armageddon.” Alongside the literal battlefield has been a similarly bitter intellectual battle over the war’s causes.

Commentators have rushed to declare the long-criticized policy of NATO expansion as irrelevant to the war’s outbreak, or as a mere fig leaf used by Russian President Vladimir Putin to mask what Condoleezza Rice and Robert Gates recently called “his messianic mission” to “reestablish the Russian Empire.” Fiona Hill, a presidential advisor to two Republican administrations, has deemed these views merely the product of a “Russian information war and psychological operation,” resulting in “masses of the US public … blaming NATO, or blaming the US for this outcome.”

Yet a review of the public record and many dozens of diplomatic cables made publicly available via WikiLeaks shows that US officials were aware, or were directly told over the span of years, that expanding NATO was viewed by Russian officials well beyond Putin as a major threat and provocation, that expanding it to Ukraine was a particularly bright red line for Moscow, that it would inflame and empower hawkish, nationalist parts of the Russian political spectrum, and that it could ultimately lead to war.

#1  But remember kids - you'd better go along with the deep state's propaganda campaign and think that Russia is Nazi! And ignore the literal Nazis on the other side.

This war is a result of the NATO-backed, CIA-backed, IMF-backed coup on Ukraine in 2014 that put Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk in power, and put the Ukrainian economy into the hands of the west through IMF structural adjustment programs. In 2015 John Mearsheimer was explicitly warning that “the west is leading Ukraine down the primrose path, and the end result is that Ukraine is going to get wrecked.”

Russia is unviable without Ukraine being at least neutral, and everyone knows this. Why do you think the deep state tried to add Ukraine to NATO? Imagine the Warsaw Pact adding Mexico and then stationing massive numbers of troops and nuclear weapons there and you get the idea. It's not defensive at all, it has no other reason to exist other than as a launching pad for a war of aggression.

They want Russia conquered, broken up into small states that are unable to resist globalism, and resettled with colonists from Africa. Then onward to China. And finally, with no more nations to conquer, they can get rid of that pesky US Constitution and turn the former territory of the USA into a cash cow for the rest of the world.

#3  Separately,

Henry Kissinger: Why I changed my mind about Ukraine

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger argued on Tuesday that Ukrainian membership of NATO would be “appropriate” after peace has been secured.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum via Zoom, the 99-year-old said that although he was against Ukraine joining NATO before the invasion, it was now a desired outcome. “Before this war I was opposed to the membership of Ukraine in NATO because I feared it would start exactly the process we are seeing now,” he said. But now, “the idea of a neutral Ukraine in these conditions is no longer meaningful.”

I don’t hold Mr. Kissinger up as a genius, but he was quoted with some regularity here by anti-Ukraine/anti-war posters in the early days. Brief video at the link.
Posted by: trailing wife || 01/20/2023 1:38 Comments || Top||

#4  Yeah, because they already started the war. He literally says that in the part you quoted! Jesus, read your own material.

Kissinger a couple of months ago: https://archive.ph/l9m9O

Mr. Kissinger sees today’s world as verging on a dangerous disequilibrium. “We are at the edge of war with Russia and China on issues which we partly created, without any concept of how this is going to end or what it’s supposed to lead to,” he says.

Mr. Kissinger courted controversy earlier this year by suggesting that incautious policies on the part of the U.S. and NATO may have touched off the crisis in Ukraine. He sees no choice but to take Vladimir Putin’s stated security concerns seriously and believes that it was a mistake for NATO to signal to Ukraine that it might eventually join the alliance: “I thought that Poland—all the traditional Western countries that have been part of Western history—were logical members of NATO,” he says. But Ukraine, in his view, is a collection of territories once appended to Russia, which Russians see as their own, even though “some Ukrainians” do not. Stability would be better served by its acting as a buffer between Russia and the West: “I was in favor of the full independence of Ukraine, but I thought its best role was something like Finland.”

Deep state propaganda works, everyone. And after this, they'll start another war and they'll fool you into cheering for that one, too.

  • Many addicts are injecting themselves in broad daylight and lying passed out in the streets, with gruesome sores on their arms and legs

  • More than 90 percent of the heroin now found in Philadelphia contains xylazine, or 'tranq', which was developed in 1962 as an anesthetic for veterinary procedures

  • its use on the streets has soared since the pandemic, and causes a blackout stupor along with deep festering wounds that frequently lead to amputations

  • Typical treatments for overdoses are not effective and the FDA issued an alert about the drug in November

SHOT Show Roundup: Newest Firearms, Vehicles, Drones For Special Operations Forces
[ZeroHedge] SHOT Show 2023 kicked off earlier this week. Recall that we combed through Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum in Las Vegas, revealing some of the most innovative products the defense industry has.

We came across AeroVironment's Kamikaze Switchblade drone (infamous since the Biden administration is sending thousands to Ukraine), grounded-based robots with mounted guns, UTVs for special operations forces, anti-drone guns, handheld thermite breaching tools, armored vehicles, high-tech weapons, and much more.

As the SHOT Show winds down, we found the last remaining exhibitors with high-tech guns, firearms accessories, vehicles, and/or gear -- many of these defense firms have extensive military contracts.

#1  ...The EX is pretty damned impressive by any standard...but right now, the plans call for it to be only deployed here in the states with ANG and AF Reserve units.

We need a missile truck like this OVERSEAS, not held back here. New build F-16s would be perfectly good for CONUS air defense, and we could get more of them.

'Not all menstruating students are women'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets

This statement was made at a meeting of the US Education Committee. They discussed a bill that would require tampons and pads to appear in all school toilets (both for girls and boys).
If boys of all ages are as creative now as they were when I was young, they’ll find plenty of uses for the things, even in schools that don’t have a violence problem. On the other hand, this will definitely exacerbate the shortages on store shelves for real menstruating females.
One of the politicians opposed, then the sponsor of the bill, Rep. Sandra Feist, intervened.
*sigh* That’s the Minnesota House of Representatives, not the federal one in Washington, DC. She was elected in 2020, representing part of Minneapolis. It’ll be interesting to see whether the Minnesota legislature actually passes the monstrosity she has proposed.
“Non-female menstruating students face greater stigma and barriers when seeking these products, so making them easily accessible in all restrooms is especially important for these students.”

I don’t have enough imagination, or maybe knowledge, to solve this puzzle. Non-women, but with the menstrual cycle, how is it? She decided that a man is worthy of visiting the men's room, but you can't argue against nature?

Interestingly. For something like what the West is now actively and with all its might promoting, imposing, trying to make it its new way of life, many thousands of years ago the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. But that time he got off with only two cities.

18:20 Starobilsk direction setting as of 18.00 January 19, 2023

In the Kupyansko-Svatovsky sector, up to 100 people, 134 battalions from 103 and 114 troop brigades, consisting of small groups of ten people, reinforced by two tanks of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigadeof the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at 07.00 on January 19, began an attack on Novoselovskoye from the southwest of the settlement.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have reached the railway station and are currently waiting for reinforcements to continue the offensive on Kuzemovka from the northwest. The village itself has been in the “gray zone” over the past few weeks, through which both Russian and Ukrainian intelligence groups are actively operating.

To reinforce the advancing grouping, a company of 92 Separate Mechanized Rifle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on six armored vehicles and a group of special operations forces of Ukraine were transferred to Novoselovsky to reinforce the advancing group.

Artillerymen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation firing at the rear positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Target designation is provided by reconnaissance and sabotage groups that operate almost along the entire length of the front from Kamenka to Kolomyychikha.

In the Limansky sector, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing for an offensive in certain sectors. Until January 20, a tank battalion of the 66th brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is expected to arrive in Izyumskoye from Ocheretino in the DPR (up to 160 people and 20 tanks).

As part of the preparations, the combined assault detachments of the 25th Airborne Brigade, 80th and 95th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Airborne Assault Forces plan to conduct reconnaissance in combat near Dibrov and at the Torskoye-Terny line in the amount of up to 80 people in 5-6 armored combat vehicles.

In addition, the 2nd and 3rd battalions of the 77th Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be deployed to the Starobelsk direction after being completed at the Perlyavka training ground in the Zhytomyr region. 1 and 4 oamb connections are located in Paraskovievka and Zaliznyansk near Bakhmut.

UAV crews of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conduct reconnaissance of the positions and activities of Russian troops in the direction of Kremennaya. From the Chuguev airfield over Izyum, the Bayraktar UAV operates in the interests of Ukrainian formations.

17:22 According to information received from a source in Stanislav, last night at the base of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces launched an artillery strike, as a result of which: 20 Ukrainians were destroyed; 16 - was wounded, 3 units. automotive equipment - were put out of action.

16:45 Footage of the assault on the well-fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Disputed Direction. The soldiers of the 2nd Army Corps of the LPR, after a long artillery preparation, swooped into the trenches to the Ukrainian security forces. Further, a small group of Russian attack aircraft of three people smoked out an entire squad of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the dugout with dense fire.

With a clear numerical superiority, the Ukrainian soldiers decide to flee. But there they were already on the lookout for Russian artillerymen. The short battle ended in an unconditional victory. The wounded Ukrainian military have retreated, our units are moving forward, clamping Disputed in fiery pincers -video

16:33 It is reported that as a result of reconnaissance fight in the area of Orekhov, Zaporozhye region, Russian troops occupied the first line of defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

16:30 The lack of timely rotation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine affects the situation at the front. If earlier battalions and brigades were at least taken away for rest and resupplying, now they are simply destroyed on the spot.

Thus, the surviving servicemen of the 125th battalion of the 116th Territorial Defense Brigade from Kremenchug, fighting in the direction of Bakhmut-Soledar, recorded a video message in which they complained to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky about the criminal orders given by their command. The soldiers note that they did not receive sufficient equipment and equipment and did not receive proper military training.

Earlier, “refuseniks” from the 4th Tank Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who retreated from the front, also turned to Zelensky and Zaluzhny, pointing out the problem with the lack of supplies. The soldiers of the battalion complained that they lacked absolutely everything, including uniforms, weapons, communications and equipment. They stated that they would continue their military service only if they were provided with proper equipment: “When we see all this, when we receive all this, we will immediately begin to carry out tasks.”

It should be noted that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have led to the fact that military enlistment offices have become more active throughout Ukraine, and men are handed summons literally on the streets.

16:03 Fighters from the Brave grouping blew up a Ukrainian ammunition depot on the Svatovo-Kremennaya line -video

The fighters of the 152mm MSTA-S crew sent a Krasnopol guided projectile to the warehouse of the APU militants, which left an empty place from the enemy’s ammo. The exact hit was achieved thanks to the Forpost UAV, which correctly indicated the target.

15:42 Russian troops destroyed the trained reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Artemovsk, intended for an offensive in the southern direction. About itreported former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine had about 14-15 brigades of 4,000 people each [in Artyomovsk]. All of them are now taken away, with the exception of two or three. They lost 70% of the composition. Soledar fell into the hands of the Russians. The position in Bakhmut is difficult to hold, it will fall soon.”

According to McGregor, today the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a total of about 140-150 thousand combat-ready soldiers.

15:35 Artillery of the eminent "Ghost" Battalion hits the fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Disputed -video

Drone crews are constantly working to calculate the positions of the enemy, then transmit the coordinates of the targets to the gunners, who, in turn, deal with the enemy, his equipment, and fortifications.

It should be noted that Spornovo is an important sector of the front, the liberation of which will make it possible to reach Seversk, move the Armed Forces of Ukraine away from Kremennaya and begin the assault on Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.

15:30 Covering with fiery 122mm BM-21 "Grad": combat work of crews of rocket launchers "Grad" of the Central Military District in the NVO zone -video

Since the beginning of the special military operation, the crews of the Grad MLRS of the Central Military District have been continuously striking at the positions, equipment and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The firepower of a volley of one installation allows you to instantly destroy the enemy on a terrain up to 14 hectares.

The maximum efficiency and accuracy of such volleys is ensured by the adjustment of fire with the help of unmanned aircraft and advanced artillery reconnaissance detachments.

Servicemen successfully use the tactics of "roaming guns", striking the enemy from different firing positions, which allows him to disorientate his counter-battery measures to the maximum. After hitting the targets, the personnel of the battery leave their positions and take cover in the dugouts.

The Grad crews are staffed not only by contract servicemen, but also by volunteers who successfully perform combat missions.

14:35 Destruction of the accumulation of infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Seversk -video

The operator of the ZALA reconnaissance drone discovered a concentration of APU manpower in a building on the outskirts of the village of Serebryanka.

Detected positions of Ukrainian formationsstartled howitzer strike. Thanks to the high training of the calculation, it was possible to cover the target with the very first shot.

In recent months, the level of cooperation and training of artillerymen in the sector near Kremennaya has grown significantly. The use of ZALA drones with a good camera also had a positive effect on combat capability.

14:07 "Distribution" of subpoenas by employees of the military registration and enlistment offices and janitors in the houses of Kyiv -video

Judging by the video from local publics, it turns out, to put it mildly, not very well. Even if they get into the entrance, no one opens the doors of the apartments to uninvited guests anyway.

Fury as 'neutral' South Africa announces 'immoral' joint wargames with Russia and China off its coast on anniversary of Putin's invasion of Ukraine
[MAIL] South Africa's government has finally shown its colours and sided with the dictators by inviting Russia and China for war games next month.

After months of placating Russia's butchery in Ukraine, Cyril Ramaphosa has ditched his supposed 'neutrality' to the war by hosting the naval drills off the country's east coast near Durban and Richards Bay from February 17 to 27.

The move is the strongest indication yet of the strengthening relationship between South Africa, whose governing ANC party is allegedly in the pocket of a sanctioned Moscow oligarch, and the anti-West authoritarian regimes of China and Russia.

The 'multinational maritime exercise' has been slammed by South Africa's leading Daily Maverick newspaper as 'immoral, stupid and impractical'.

South Africa is the S in BRICS. I mean, duh, obviously they're going to the R and C.

They use the Russia conspiracy theory, too, because when the ANC wants to pursue its own foreign policy independent of the deep state, suddenly it's Rooshins doing it. Where's that graphic, "Anything I don't like is Putin-Hitler"?

Fifth Column
Antifa Shoots a Cop in Atlanta; After the Police Respond and Kill a Thug, Antifa Groups Call for a ''Night of Rage'' and Violent Retaliation Against the Police; Biden, the FBI Remain Silent
Follow up to this story from yesterday. It turns out they are Antifa, after all. See also here.
[Ace of Spades] Four have been charged with domestic terrorism in the shootout with police.

Antifa staged violent protests (do they do any other kind?) to block the construction of a police facility in Atlanta. When cops attempted to clear them out, they opened fire, seriously wounding a cop. The cops returned fire and killed an antifa thug.

Now antifa is calling for "reciprocal violence."

All of these people will be out on bail faster than any January 6th grandmother arrested for "parading."

Four militants have been arrested and charged with domestic terrorism following a deadly shootout with law enforcement at their "autonomous zone" in a wooded area south of Atlanta.

On Wednesday morning, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies conducted a raid on the so-called autonomous zone at the site of the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center. Since June 2021, Antifa and other far-left extremists from across the US have occupied the area to prevent the construction of what they call a "cop city." The GBI says a Georgia State Patrol trooper was shot and severely injured during Wednesday's raid by a man camped in the area. Officers returned fire and killed the gunman, who allegedly used a pistol.

Georgia's Department of Public Safety will not name the injured patrol trooper, saying it would "compromise security against criminal or terroristic acts due to retaliation," but told local media he was in the ICU after having emergency surgery. The deceased gunman was named by a propaganda media group for the forest autonomous zone as Manuel "Tortuguita" Teran. The GBI would not confirm the man's legal name pending next of kin notification.

"Manuel used they/it pronouns..."

Of course they/it does. Antifa is lousy with they/its.

And pedophiles. Half of antifa is registered child molesters.

No wonder the Democrat Party protects them.

"... please make sure we are remembering them properly and respectfully," announced the Atlanta Community Press Collective in their statement revealing the shooter's identity.

Following the shooting, the GBI and its law enforcement partners continued to clear the autonomous zone and several arrests were made of suspects--all of whom are from out of state.

Remember, Christopher Wray insists they are a "loosely-associated" group, not a national terrorist organization.

...Filler Distro tweeted a call for "retaliation" against police with further instructions from extremist account "Scenes from the Atlanta Forest." .The now-suspended account, which posts blogs from writers at the autonomous zone, wrote: "Consider this a call for reciprocal violence to be done to the police and their allies. On Friday, January 20th, wherever you are, you are invited to participate in a night of rage in order to honor the memory of our fallen comrade." The post was shared hundreds of times before the account was suspended.

Antifa groups around the country -- remember, this isn't a national organization, just a series of "loosely-affiliated ideological groups" that present no threat -- are calling for violence against cops.

Radical Antifa-associated leftists are calling for retaliation after one of their grunts was killed in an incident with police, near the "Cop City" occupying grounds where the Atlanta Police Department Training Facility is set to be built.

"Consider this a call for reciprocal violence to be done to the police and their allies. On Friday, January 20th, wherever you are, you are invited to participate in a night of rage in order to honor the memory of our fallen comrade," the Scenes from the Atlanta Forest Twitter account tweeted.

Joe Biden continues refusing to condemn antifa, and Christopher Wray continues refusing to call them a major domestic violence threat. Wray gives Biden the excuse for that by claiming that antifa isn't an organization but just a "loosely-associated ideological cluster" or whatever bullshit he uses to protect them.

Two points: 1, "white supremacists" and "right-wing domestic terrorist groups" are obviously not "centrally controlled movements" and yet the FBI has made them public enemy number one. Why is that antifa must be tightly centrally controlled for the FBI to take seriously as a domestic threat, while it does not impose this restriction on the Democrats' favorite bugaboo groups?

2, it sure looks like antifa is more centrally organized than the criminal Wray admits:

#1  If they were a threat, the FBI would be all up in their asses.

But they're not. They're a loosely allied force of destruction for the deep state. The same ones who want an eternal war in Ukraine, Syria, Afghanistan, and all the other places we don't even know about.

However the FBI *is* trying to hurt us, the right. That means we're an actual threat. When you've got a situation like that, the threat has to be an actual threat so that they'll look at the non-threatening side and say, "Hmm, better negotiate with them, those, the threatening ones will literally kill us." And that's why we need to be the threat they imagine that we are.

Now, we have BLMs armed militia organzing to demand reparations at gun point and there is no...NO resistence. This is all coordinated. For previous examples look to how Berkeley CA, Portland OR and Seattle WA have been coordinating for years. Then, social media and internet providers stepped in and crushed the Patriot groups and Proud Boys so now there is no organized defense against what is happening. We are now on our own, right where they wanted all of us. We're gonna see lots of armed Leftist groups heading into 2024.

US Forces, SDF Detain ISIS Official In East Syria – CENTCOM

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Thursday that US forces, in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), captured an ISIS official in a helicopter raid in eastern Syria a day earlier.

"U.S. Central Command forces partnered with Syrian Democratic Forces to conduct a partnered helicopter assault in eastern Syria on Jan. 18 capturing an ISIS Syrian provincial media and security operative," CENTCOM said in a blurb.

According to the statement, "The individual was involved in the planning and facilitation of ISIS operations in and outside of the region as well as global recruiting efforts."

The statement added that no casualties occurred during the assault.

"This operation reaffirms CENTCOM’s steadfast commitment to the region and the enduring defeat of ISIS," said Col. Joe Buccino, CENTCOM spokesperson.

Buccino added that ISIS still constitute a threat, noting that "CENTCOM maintains a sufficient and sustainable presence in the region and will continue to counter threats against regional security."

On Wednesday, the CENTCOM said that US forces and SDF would continue to reduce the number of residents at Hawl Camp, which houses about 50.000 family members of ISIS hard boys.
Al Ahram adds:
In late December, U.S.-backed, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces announced ``Operation Al-Jazeera Thunderbolt'' , citing a surge in IS attacks, to target sleeper cells in the areas of al-Hol and Tal Hamis in the country's east.

CENTCOM did not identify the Syrian militant, but described the person as a ``provincial media and security operative'' who was involved in global recruitment and facilitating and planning operations for the group.

``The capture of this ISIS operative will disrupt the terrorist organization's ability to further plot and carry out global attacks threatening U.S. citizens, or partners and innocent civilians,`` CENTCOM spokesperson Col. Joe Buccino said.

There are roughly 900 U.S. troops in Syria, including in the north and farther south and east.

CENTCOM reported conducting some 313 operations against IS in 2022 in Syria and Iraq, mostly in cooperation with the Syrian Democratic Forces forces. According to a CENTCOM statement, 215 militants from the Islamic State group were arrested and 466 were killed in Syria.

WEF: United States Will Soon Make Hate Speech Illegal, Says EU Commissioner
[Breitbart] The United States will soon follow Europe in implementing laws against so-called hate speech, a top Eurocrat claimed at the World Economic Forum’s meeting in Davos.

The vice president for Values and Transparency for the European Commission, Věra Jourová predicted on Tuesday that hate speech laws will be imposed upon the American public, despite longstanding case law at the Supreme Court protecting such speech under the First Amendment.

“Illegal hate speech, which you will have soon also in the U.S. I think that we have a strong reason why we have this in the criminal law,” Jourová said.

The Czech politician, who previously served as the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality, made the comments during a WEF panel hosted by former CNN host Brian Stelter on “The Clear and Present Danger of Disinformation.” The choice of Stelter may perhaps be viewed by some as ironic given his own relationship with the truth.

The panel also featured New York Times chairman Arthur Gregg Sulzberger, Democratic Congressman Seth Moulton, and Internews CEO Jeanne Bourgault.

Representative Moulton seemingly agreed with the statement from the EU Commission VP, telling her: “I think in general the US has a lot to learn in terms of data regulation, internet regulation… You’re way ahead of us in that regard.”

However, the Democrat politician later clarified that he did not believe that American politicians were ready to forsake the fundamental aspects of freedom of speech.
And there it is.
The comments from Jourová come amid the backdrop of the ongoing dispute between the European Union and new Twitter boss Elon Musk over his publicly stated commitment to free speech, which has ruffled feathers in Brussels.

Indeed, Jourová herself commented on the matter to Euractiv on Tuesday, saying that the platform should partner with the EU on combatting hate speech and disinformation, saying: “We need the platforms to work with the language to identify such cases.”

She said that European Union laws surrounding online speech will be enforced, saying: “They apply to Twitter regardless of who owns it. Musk should not underestimate our efforts to make big platforms responsible.”

Question:
Currently, it is the LSD Media that are the ones giving power to and promoting the agendas of Hate Speech groups with slanted coverage. Groups like the BLM, Defund the Police, Anti-FA, KKK, and etc. could not survive without their continued clickbait.

So should the LSD racist and hate speech promoting propaganda media arms be shutdown?

NO! Because there is a Check and Balance to their subversive agendas. It is called the Bill of Rights. But they can be sued in Civil Courts for slander or deliberate false reporting that cause serious personal damages and bodily arm. Just ask CNN, MSNBC and others who had their A$$es sued off in the last 3 years (for estimated $100+ Million. ).

I think this will 'strengthen' the love of the Poles for Ukrainian refugees...
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military blogger Andrey Chervonets

Ukrainian students in Poland complained about a teacher who considers Bandera and Shukhevych criminals, writes Kresy pl.

The trade union even had to hold a picket in defense of this teacher.

The schoolchildren did not like the flyer held by a math teacher who teaches at the regional vocational education center in Niska. In the leaflet, Bandera and Shukhevych were rightly called criminals and there was a call to ban their glorification, given their involvement in the genocide.

Svidomo Ukrainians have always believed and believe that everyone owes them. Soon the Poles will justify themselves to them for Volhynia, because in a couple of years these young Bandera people will grow up...

A "frostbitten" generation has already grown up in Ukraine. Another one is on the way, worse than the previous ones. It's already a hopeless country. At least for now. There is no country as such, but the people from this territory will still make a stir in Europe.

Unknown Gunmen In Turkey Kill 4 Kurds From KRI

Four Kurdish people, including three women, were killed and another was injured in an armed attack in the city of Mardin, in southeastern Turkey.

Unknown gunmen opened fire on the family’s car at dawn on Thursday. The five victims are from Amedi, in the Duhok Governorate of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), according to a local media outlet.

Hours later, Kurdistan Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani, denounced the attack, and called on Turkey to reveal the motives behind it and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He also offered his sincere condolences to the victims’ relatives.

The reasons behind the attack are still unknown, though the Kurdish-majority regions of Turkey have periodically witnessed racist attacks against Kurds.

The victims’ car carried a Duhok registration plate, suggesting it was “systematically targeted.”

The family was in Turkey for a medical procedure.

David Crosby, Co-Founder of Crosby Still and Nash famous leftist squish, Dies at 81
By Chris Morris, Chris Willman

[Variety] Singer-songwriter-guitarist David Crosby, a founding member of two popular and enormously influential ’60s rock units, the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash (later Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young), has died, his representative says. He was 81 years old. A cause of death has not been revealed.
At eighty-one, he might simply have run out of telomeres.
The death came as a surprise to those who followed his very active Twitter account, which he’d kept tweeting on as recently as Wednesday. One of Crosby’s final tweets the day before he died was to make a typically jocular comment about heaven: “I heard the place is overrated… cloudy.”

How America surrendered to marijuana: KAYLA BRANTLEY reveals how pot became ubiquitous across the US because it rakes in billions in tax dollars despite concerns about impact on health
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Within a decade, the U.S. went from cracking down on marijuana use to becoming a $47 billion industry.

But the road to having dispensaries on every corner, the smell of weed smoke freely in the air and criminal records expunged didn't happen overnight.

It took a couple of states leading the charge - Colorado and Washington in 2012 - to then ripple into near nation-wide legalization.

There are now 21 states where cannabis has been legalized for recreational use. Every corner of New York City, for example, is an assault on the nostrils with people lighting up a joint as early as before or just after their morning commute.

However, not everyone is on board with the marijuana revolution. Doctors and advocates have highlighted concerns about excessive use of cannabis in high risk groups, especially the youth.

DailyMail.com has examined when exactly America's war on drugs changed, the challenges the industry faces and the future of the billion-dollar business.

Impacts on health? You mean like alcohol, cigarettes, and perhaps even junk food (whatever that means)?

On the off chance you were talking about smoking, the weed is pure and without the toxic chemicals that are added to tobacco. At any rate, edibles are where it's at. No stench, no inhaling, no muss no fuss. The last time I was with my brother, he had gummy bears impregnated with THC. Eat one and you're good for hours.

I believe insurance companies have actuaries who can at least recommend how different types of behavior will affect your premiums. At least that's how it should work. As far as harmful substances go, I think if you consider the toll that is taken by obesity and diabetes, sugar would rank right up there with heroin. But in our culture people are constantly encouraged to eat cake, ice cream, donuts and cookies. To each their poison I guess. But I would agree that we shouldn't be asked to subsidize healthcare for people whose habits are unhealthy and I still think we should secure the border and take military action against Mexico's drug cartels.

I always thought it was ironic that people who can legally smoke tobacco wanted to put marijuana smokers in jail. As old as I am, I've seen a lot of people, many of them people that I still miss today, get sick and die from smoking tobacco. You can debate all day about which is worse: tobacco or marijuana. It's probably best to avoid both of them.

#12  in states with legalized recreational marijuana, there have been significant increases in juvenile psychosis

the medical path by which THC leads to marijuana psychosis is still in the early stages of investigation but there is little doubt that this is happening

THC concentration in for-sale marijuana is far higher than it was 30 or 20 or even 5 years ago

#13  one of the difficulties with researching the issue of marijuana psychosis is that marijuana sold is highly variable in its purity

several dozen potential psychoactive compounds are in raw marijuana and when it is smoked the number of compounds doubles or triples

#17  "Sorry, but I want to consume, smoke, imbibe, or ingest whatever I want. My body, my rules."

Okay - I can play that game:

If you don't get your daily cardio for a healthy heart then develop cardiac and heart problems - FO and die.

If you dont wear your seat belt and get into an accident - FO and die.

If you dont wear your helmet and wreck your motorcycle or bicycle - FO and die.

If you dont heed the warning and fall off the top step of a ladder, FO and die.

If you are a daily drinker or smoker and those habits catch up to you - FO and die.

If you eat a lot of sugary snacks and drink a lot of soda and develop diabetes - FO and die.

If you don't moderate your diet and become a fatty fat fatso - FO and die.

If you dont look both ways crossing the street and get hit by a car, FO and die.

If you run with scissors, trip-fall and impale yourself, FO and die.

If you dive into the shallow end of the pool, knock yourself out and start drowning, FO and die.

If you get a STD via sex without a condom, FO and die.

If you lift with your back and not your knees, and ruin your back, FO and die.

Basically if you do anything I don't like and it effects your health negatively, and it's not a behavior I engage in, and the opposite is beneficially good for you, be like Jesus or FO & die.

Those are the rules, right? So long as they are applied equally, I think we can agree.

Disturbing moment Ohio cop repeatedly punches woman in the face during an arrest after she got in a heated argument with a McDonald's employee over her Big Mac not having extra cheese
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Butler Township police were seen in video punching a woman in the face as she was being detained on January 16

  • The officers were called to the scene after Latinka Hancock got into an argument with McDonald's employees over the lack of extra cheese on her Big Mac

  • The police department is now investigating the incident

  • They have put the sergeant on administrative leave

#1  I usually never watch/listen to podcast over 5 min. I stayed for the whole hour on this one ...worth it.

Here's the points I took away.

  • The FDS gets 68% of its funding from Big Pharma

  • Statins only give you a 1% benefit from preventing cardiac issues

  • The tide is finally turning on this whole pandemic issue and the truth is starting to get out about the danger of the jab and how big Pharma knew it and went ahead anyway for profits

Points most people here knew anyway but this Cardiologist form the UK bring the receipts.

Davos - 4 reasons to distrust and resist the 'climate change' elites
[WND] The World Economic Forum insect overlords have convened in Davos, Switzerland, for their annual confab this week, and once again, their focus is "crisis."

Everything is a "crisis" for the WEF and their minions seeded throughout the world's governments and corporate leaders, and those crises are always "unprecedented." But this year, they're trying to foment even more global panic; they've declared 2023 to be the "year of the 'polycrisis.'" In other words, multiple crises at the same time. (Which is the same thing they've been saying for years, but with a new, scary epithet attached to it.)

Also consistent with their previous messaging is that those in power need much "more" to accomplish their goals. More power, more government and corporate control, and much more money. Former Secretary of State John Kerry gave a speech in Davos on Tuesday in which he warned that "saving the planet" will take "money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money."

Where is all this money going to come from? Why, from you, of course — the average citizen — from whom everything will be taken; not only your money but your car, your single-family home and yard, your food and your freedom. But it's fine, because we'll have utopia when the central planners are finished.

Everything about this reeks of fraud, deceit, massive miscalculation and manipulation. And we've seen this movie enough times before to be suspicious of everything we're being told.

#5  There is sufficient evidence that these Global Climate change morons are all wet..
Relentless storms were ravaging California again
As California emerges from a two-week bout of deadly atmospheric rivers, a number of climate researchers say the recent storms appear to be typical of the intense, periodic rains the state has experienced throughout its history and not the result of global warming.

Although scientists are still studying the size and severity of storms that killed 19 people and caused up to $1 billion in damage, initial assessments suggest the destruction had more to do with California's historic drought-to-deluge cycles, mountainous topography and aging flood infrastructure than it did with climate-altering greenhouse gasses.

Although the media and some officials were quick to link a series of powerful storms to climate change, researchers interviewed by The Times said they had yet to see evidence of that connection. Instead, the unexpected onslaught of rain and snow after three years of punishing drought appears akin to other major storms that have struck California every decade or more since experts began keeping records in the 1800s.

“We know from climate models that global warming will boost California storms of the future, but we haven’t made that connection with the latest storm systems,” said Alexander Gershunov, a climate scientist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. “Assuming that these storms were driven by global warming would be like assuming an athlete who breaks a record was on steroids.”

Mike Anderson, official state climatologist for California, suggested that the recent series of atmospheric rivers — long plumes of vapor that can pour over the West Coast — was a grim reminder that in a place so dry, sudden flooding can bring catastrophe.

“Each of the recent atmospheric rivers were within the historical distribution of sizes of atmospheric rivers,” Anderson said, “It will take further study to determine how warming temperatures influenced the sequence or the sudden transition from dry to wet and soon back to dry.”

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Kerry: ‘China Is Doing a Lot More than People Think' on Making Renewables
[Breitbart] During an interview with CNN International aired on Wednesday’s "First Move," Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry stated that while China should do more to move away from coal, "China is doing a lot more than people think in trying to deploy renewables, manufacture the renewables."

Kerry stated, "Well, we should be hopeful, certainly. No, the world cannot get to where we have to get to to avoid the worst consequences of the climate crisis without China being there and being helpful. Now, we’re engaged, again, in conversations with China. I’m encouraged. I think China is doing a lot more than people think in trying to deploy renewables, manufacture the renewables. We’d like to see more in terms of moving away from coal and so forth. But we have to work together. We have to work together with an ability to recognize our common responsibility and to come to the table and help the rest of the world. And if China and the United States can move on some of these things right now in these next months, that will make a gigantic difference. It’s one of the top things that one should try to achieve, because it will accelerate action by everybody else and it will facilitate that transformation. It will also help a lot of people in various parts of the world who are suspicious of what China is doing or not doing to see that China is there, is part of the solution, not the problem and at least addressing the problem in a very serious way. And that would help everybody."
