FAA says a contractor 'unintentionally deleted files' while synchronizing NOTAM's primary and back up systems - sparking first nationwide grounding since 9/11 (but agency STILL refuses to name the culprit)

Gosh, what could someone, on the inside, WITH intentions do?

#12  All critical systems should have a fail-over process that kicks in immediately during a final operating system release. But before the final release there should be an Alpha release (to only a few computers first), a Beta release (to a larger user base), then finnaly the complete Final release if all went well during Alpha/Beta. For a long time this was industry standard. Under know nothing Butt-Gigg, not so.

#7  A lot of people still don't grasp how dilapidated, outmoded, slapped together and seat of the pants some of these "critical" software systems are.

Not like a "Don't Delete This File" or "This File Is Locked" message couldn't pop up.
