Nikolas Cruz gets life
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • A juror wrote a note to Circuit Judge Elizabeth Scherer describing heated deliberations over the fate of Nikolas Cruz, the Parkland school shooter

  • The juror said they remained 'fair and unbiased' when sticking to their decision to vote for life in prison, allowing Cruz to escape the death penalty

  • Under Florida law, a death sentence can only be handed down if jurors unanimously recommended he be executed
  • Or with a shiv in the showers
  • The juror noted that their decision made the rest of the jury 'extremely unhappy,' with many of them visibly upset and crying in the courtroom

  • The families of the 17 victims also broke down over the decision, with one warning that it sends a message to the next school shooter

Assertion:The number of females who would consider imposing the death sentence is far, far less that the number of males.

-Great Cultural Revolution
When Intersectionality meets in Dearborn MI
See more from PJ Media here.
[Powerline] “Intersectionality” is a favorite lib word. It refers to the idea that there is a hierarchy of oppression, so that, for example, Native American women are more oppressed than homosexual white men. All of the allegedly oppressed groups ostensibly make up the liberal coalition, and liberals expect them to take their places in the pecking order.

This works, sort of, as long as everyone is on board. But as we have often seen, divisions often appear between allegedly allied groups. A particularly enjoyable instance of the collapse of intersectionality happened in Dearborn, Michigan, when hundreds of Muslim parents attended a school board meeting to protest homosexual porn in the public schools’ libraries.
Paragraph from the PJ Media piece and several tweets from school board meeting can be seen at the link.
Heighten the contradictions, Comrade! as a friend of mine likes to say.

I will only add that no library has ever censored a book. Millions of books have been published, of which any library selects only an infinitesimal percentage to stock its shelves. Here, public school libraries are conferring a real honor on the tiny handful of books that they think will be most valuable to the children and young people whom they serve. They are not “censoring” the millions of books they do not choose, they are privileging a few. Why, as these parents sensibly ask, should Dearborn’s school libraries single out gay porn for the rare honor of being chosen to educate the district’s children?

Okay, one more thing: one of the best trends in contemporary America is the growing frequency with which unhappy parents attend school board meetings. They are not “domestic terrorists,” they are Americans, parents, taxpayers and voters. Many more should follow their example.

Is Christian nationalism on the rise in the United States?
[Aljazeera] Marc Lamont Hill hosts a discussion looking at Christian nationalism and the line between Church and State in the US.
The amazing MLH, my 'go to guy' for Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
The separation of church and state is widely considered a sacred pillar of American democracy, one upheld by the country’s founding documents, including the Constitution.

However, in recent years, an undercurrent of religious rhetoric has permeated political discourse in the United States, causing many to sound the alarm over attempts at merging religious ideals and national identity.

"Christian nationalism strikes at the very heart of civil rights for all Americans," says Amanda Tyler, the executive director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty.

This week in an UpFront special, Marc Lamont Hill is joined by Tyler; Anthea Butler, the chair of religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania; and Kristin Du Mez, a professor of history and gender studies at Calvin University, to discuss Christian nationalism and its effects on the lives and rights of people in the US.

Really? Where? Read the 1st Amendment carefully. It says the state shall not establish a state religion, as in the Church of England or the Roman Catholic church, at the exclusion of others. The doctrine of separation is largely a creation of SCOTUS, one that often favors the rule over religions and their contents by the state rather than 'separation', punishing those who adhere to faith rather than state. The actual practices of those who wrote and founded the original documents say otherwise.

#7  I am reading Raymond Ibrahim's Defenders of the West: The Christian Heroes Who Stood Against Islam (Post Hill Press, 2022). His focus on scholarship and primary source documentation is unparalleled in my experience. He repeated decimates the modern tropes of "Religion of Peace" and victimhood by modern Muslim apologists. He makes it clear again, as in his previous book Sword and Scimitar, that Christendom has been under attack by Islam since its beginnings, and that the "muscular Christianity" of the past would be flabbergasted at the decline of vigor in modern times. Perhaps this is a positive sign of a reawakening?

Those Who Must Not Be Criticized
See Powerline Blog’s take here.
[PJMedia] This is the fight I’ve been waiting for. Let’s be totally honest. The only religious people the left is truly scared to offend are Muslims. Criticizing Muslims is completely off the table according to the left’s rules of engagement, so if Muslims are upset about something, the amount of twisting, back-bending, and acrobatics the left will perform in order not to offend them will be something to see.

So when hundreds of Muslim parents, upset at gay porn in the school libraries, showed up to a school board meeting in Dearborn, Mich., and it devolved into shouting and chaos with board members running away and gay protesters being chased to their cars, the fallout was absolutely hilarious. The headline in the Detroit Free Press after the event went haywire was "LGBTQ and Faith Communities Struggle for Unity." BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Can you imagine what the headline would have been if it were a Baptist church chasing gay protesters to their cars? "Fascist White Supremacist Book Burners Bash Gay Man in Parking Lot," or "Rabid Religious Zealots Terrorize Gay Man Defending Right to Read," or something equally terrible. I don’t know about you, but I’m enjoying this disaster.

Enjoy this thread and all the videos in it. I know I did.
I wondered when the Muslim community would get involved. I like how the headline in the Detroit Free Press refused to say Muslim Communities instead of Faith Communities. Am I bad to enjoy watching this goat roping?

#2  This is not really the great news the writer thinks it is. The dis-empowerment of the christian is more complete when the job of protecting society is taken over by moslems.

The moslem has quietly built his edifices of protection over the years while christians have been self-absorbed and bickering over doctrines, appeasing their flock with noveau psychiatry, and fighting for trifles like not letting asshole women abort their spawn.

The moslem is plugged into everything from BLM to BDS and I'll bet antifa too. The moslem got away with killing thousands of Americans, the Taliban victory and the raising of shithole islamic republics to militarized nation states on American taxpayer money.

Now, will it be the moslem that protects even christian children from the Left loonies? I don't think so. They will protect their own and covertly encourage the downward spiral of yours.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
How Bill Gates & Partners' money controlled the World's Draconian Covid Plan
[Expose] The shift in power from governments "overwhelmed" by Covid-19 to a group of four non-governmental organisations: The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Gavi;
...the updated name of the two decade old Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization), a public–private global health partnership that historically concentrated on getting the usual childhood vaccines to the poor. It’s been criticized for preferring expensive new vaccines over cheap, older versions...
the Wellcome Trust; and CEPI is astounding and extremely concerning.

Throughout the first three months of the pandemic, the four organisations jumped ahead of the governments in charting the global nature of the response. The Gates Foundation and Wellcome began to invest and announce grants to companies working to produce tests and treatments for Covid. Beyond beginning to grant millions of dollars, CEPI and the other organisations set up international consortiums to shapeshift the world’s initial response to the pandemic through the World Health Organisation ("WHO").

AN INVESTIGATION BY POLITICO AND WELT
The WHO was crucial to the groups’ rise to power. Much of the groups’ clout with the WHO stems simply from money. Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the Gates Foundation, Gavi, and the Wellcome Trust have donated collectively more than $1.4 billion to the WHO.

The four organisations collectively have spent just under $10 billion since January 2020 combating Covid, the investigation revealed. Their financial might allowed them to gain access to some of the highest levels of government in the US and Europe.

The images below published by Politico summarise how money and influence shaped the world’s Covid plan.

The Costs of Germany's Support for Ukraine-Peter Zeihan

#1  Interesting comment at the link:

Thorben Emig
3 hours ago (edited)
Very well explained, Mr. Zeihan.
Being German myself, it struck me as well that there is a great amount of anger, sometimes mixed with historical animosity and phobia towards Germany and Germans on this particular war effort and in general.

I think what a lot of people don't get about Germany is that 1st it's a very old country, 2nd its a democracy (so prone to peace dividend consumption) and 3rd very exposed to all sorts of conflicts (which it has collective memory of). So Germany is old and scared.

It is true that we are depended a great deal on those natural resources from Russia. We entered into this dependency because of an appeasing attitude towards the reactionary forces in Russia.

Appeasement now is seen as weakness and an invitation, but what a lot of people miss is that this appeasement bought us time. It took Russia 30 years to decide that it wanted more land, which it might had done in the 90 or early 2000s without our entanglement.
And Minsk 1 and 2 bought Ukraine time to get its defences ready for 2022.

Now that appeasement has failed, Germany was forced to make strategic decisions. Those are:

1. Accept that appeasement no longer works to buy time.
2. Go West
3. Up our own defences.
4. reorient our industry, so that we might experience temporary recession, but no breakdown.

I agree that Germany will lose competitiveness in the short term, but I disagree with you @Zeihan on Geopolitics that in the mid term we will deindustrialise.
We will come back from this, better militarily, more Western, and with a role to play. There is a chance in every crisis, and I have hope that economically we will adapt to this and add strength to the West as a hole.

But for now, we are busy organising and taking blame from everyone (as always).

#2  This is an interesting point for the Germans in history. Before when they had shortages and felt vulnerable they went to war. But they had hostile countries on their borders. This is the first time in a long time they have allies all around them. The French might be snippy about help but as long as Germany works against Russia the Poles will help. The Nordic countries also are friendly which usually wasn't the case historically.

Interesting times.

I think Germany will have a painful decade or so as they retool, but in the end will come out stronger for it.

#3  Probably not a decade, 5 years maybe.
Serious miscalculations were made in the last decade.

#5  Call this "Morgenthau's Revenge".

One way or the other, Germany will be deindustrialized. Just like the American Rust Belt. German products are simply no longer competitive. This is not something that can be reversed, not after the Americans blew up Nordstream.

#6  Deindustrialization is a long-term phenomenon.

CTH Delivers Stunning Proof Of Previous Forecasts On Coming Food Costs
[ConservativeTreehouse] Leading Edge of Field to Fork Inflation Starts to Arrive in September Producer Price Index

While the overall September PPI was higher than expected at 0.4%, the Final Demand Producer Price for food products in September was a whopping 1.2% (14.4% annualized).

The BLS notes the driver by saying, “a major factor in the September increase in prices for final demand goods was a 15.7-percent advance in the index for fresh and dry vegetables. Prices for diesel fuel, residential natural gas, chicken eggs, home heating oil, and pork also moved higher.”

That’s a 15.7% increase in price, in one month, for fresh and dry vegetables. Annualized that’s a rate of price increase of 188.4% for vegetables. Remember the warning about farm costs (energy, fertilizer, fuel) driving field to fork inflation at harvest? This is the leading edge of that third wave of food price increases.

I have modified BLS Table-2 to focus specifically on food costs. The data is on left.

You will note that ‘row crops’ are the big drivers along with grain and seed products. This is exactly as we predicted it would be because those specific farming costs are the ones with greatest increase from energy, fuel, fertilizer, weed and insect control, and diesel costs.

All of those higher costs have been growing in the fields and will now surface at harvest. The higher farm costs transfer from the field to the fork via the food supply chain. This is only the leading edge of the price increase.

In October 2021 we first warned of the food price increases coming in distinct waves. The first was Jan, Feb and March 2022. The second wave was May through July 2022. This third wave will be bigger than the first two and starts arriving this month, October 2022.

People laughed at me when I said in late 2022 eggs were going to reach .50¢ EACH ($6/doz).

Well, in September the price of fresh eggs jumped 16.7% in a single month. That’s an annualized rate of price increase for eggs over 200%.

With hindsight you can clearly see the three waves of food price increases (BLS Table A):
Table can be seen at the link.
Get ready and shop smart.

The October, November and December price increases in the grocery store are going to make the prior fresh food increases look small, as the full increased costs of farming operations starts to arrive at the supermarket. Unfortunately, this will coincide with a wave of gasoline price increases, and the prices of natural gas are already skyrocketing.

[Townhall] I will post a link to this column, too. Ninety percent of my followers won't see it.

Twitter will bury most of my tweets deep in my followers' newsfeeds, below paid tweets, below "trending" tweets, below ... who knows what? They bury them so deep that most people never see them.

Do they bury them because some employee doesn't like me? Doesn't like libertarians? I don't know. The algorithm is secret.

Twitter is a private company and can do whatever it wants. But I wish the rules were applied consistently. I can't know if they are. The process is secret.

Just weeks before the last election, the New York Post reported, accurately, on the sleaze on Hunter Biden's computer. Twitter blocked the Post's account for two weeks. Twitter's CEO later called that "a mistake." But did Twitter change? We don't know.

Twitter blocks former President Donald Trump, but the Taliban's account is open. Now Twitter's blocking some posts that criticize government's COVID policies.

How often? We don't know.

Enough people on the right have been Twitter-banned that several sites have sprung to welcome conservative content: Parler, Rumble, Odysee and now Trump's Truth Social.

None is as popular as Twitter. I see why. I don't want to talk to just people on the right. I want to talk with everyone.

Now it appears that Elon Musk will take control of Twitter.
Again? Did I miss it?
Yes. I think there was a court ruling.
Good.

Musk calls himself a "free speech absolutist." He said he invested in Twitter because he believes in "its potential to be the platform for free speech." Twitter should be the "town square" where everyone has a voice.

That's great.

But what if tweeting gets ugly? What if a tweet threatens someone or spreads "misinformation"? Musk says, "If it's a gray area, let the tweet exist."

I agree. Censorship rarely works. It causes hate to bubble up in secret places, where fewer sensible people are present to refute it. The best antidote to ugly speech ... is more speech.

Still, any discussion site needs content moderation. Platforms can become cesspools. People drawn to conspiracy theories tend to be drawn to more than one.

But allowing some of that is better than trying to stop it all.

When the news first broke that Musk might buy Twitter, the totalitarian left was upset. For years, their content moderators have dominated Twitter. Now that's threatened. Former Labor Secretary Robert Reich even called Musk's vision for a freer internet "the dream of every dictator."

That's just nonsense. It's dictators who are most eager to censor. Simple-minded leftists just hate independent businessmen rocking their socialist boats.

Musk trying to buy Twitter is the market at work. If his vision fails, users will move to another site.

Let the competition begin.
MODS! How do I set the width of the Hitler picture to 300?
The server doesn't read the width instructions inside of the single quotes. So place the width instruction again outside of the single quotes as the last instruction.
For those of us less technically inclined, add width=300 without quotes inside the angle brackets:
either at the beginning: img width=300 src=
or at the end: ; width=300/

VDH: Biden, Democrats use midterm mass-distraction strategy to hide counterculture revolution from angry voters
[FoxNews] The contours of the upcoming November midterms seem clear. President Joe Biden scarcely polls above 40% approval. His disastrous energy, economic, crime, immigration, and foreign policies proved even more unpopular.

In reaction, frightened Democratic candidates on script are resorting to strategies of diversion. They avoid mention of their prior lockstep support for Biden agendas that induced current high gas prices, spiraling inflation, deflated 401(k) retirement plans, out-of-control violent crime, 3 million illegal aliens pouring across the southern border, and the disaster in Afghanistan and its aftermath.

Most Democrats are quietly relieved that a 79-year-old, cognitively challenged Biden does not appear with them on the campaign trail, preferring he continue his frequent down time at his Delaware retreat.

Democrats also increasingly rely on a series of ginned up Trump-MAGA psychodramas. That way they hope to make the midterms a referendum on a supposedly demonic Donald Trump—with help from the media, the January 6th House Committee hearings, the Mar-a-Lago raid, and now periodic Biden rants about "semi-fascist" Trump supporters.

These efforts of mass distraction will not work.

Aside from Democrats’ inability to mask their prior support for the disastrous Biden record, most presidents lose dozens of congressional seats in their first midterm election. And when a president’s approval rating stays stuck at about 40 percent, down-ticket party candidates do poorly.

But even more importantly, in the last month of the election, there is a growing consensus that our very civilization itself is imploding and America’s current trajectory is unsustainable.

Americans blame the left that has weaponized every aspect of the federal government to further a virtual cultural revolution. For a rare moment in American history, neo-socialists in 2020 captured control of the presidency and both houses of Congress — giving them a blank check for two years to transform once crackpot radical theories into destructive everyday policies.

Before Biden, no one would have dared imagine actually defunding the police, releasing violent criminals just hours after committing crimes, deliberately canceling federal gas and oil leases, pipelines, and entire oil fields, and destroying the entire corpus of immigration law.

Since when does a criminal simply prance out of a store, arms full of stolen goods without a worry of arrest? What has happened to America when millions pour into their country without audit, legality, or vaccinations at the height of a pandemic? Why have hundreds of thousands of homeless simply absorbed vast swaths of America’s downtowns?

The middle class is bewildered by this sudden erosion of everything they once took for granted, from supply-chain shortages of baby formula, smash-and-grabs and car-jackings, and train robbing in broad daylight to periodic brownouts, dysfunctional air travel and daily racially motivated hate crimes.

Meanwhile, the public’s retirement accounts have lost a third of their value in just a year. The middle class now receives only a scant 1-2% in interest on their eroding savings accounts, but they pay 7% for mortgages, while inflation eats away their value of their purchasing power at over 8% a year.

As part of the current cultural bewilderment, voters are baffled that the border patrol is overwhelmed while the administration hires 87,000 new IRS agents.

They cannot fathom why the FBI’s Washington hierarchy has serially misled Congress and lied to federal investigators. Why would FBI agents monitor parents at school board meetings, or seek to humiliate the political enemies of the White House?

Since when does the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff call his communist Chinese counterpart to warn him that his own American commander in chief is considered too unsteady?

The recent, unfiltered racist talk of Los Angeles city-council members, along with Kayne West’s anti-Semitic outbursts, warn us that the ultimate manifestation of our premodern descent into tribalism, ethnic and racial chauvinism, and woke identity politics could soon be an abject nightmare like Rwanda or the former Yugoslavia.

The new woke cancel culture — so reminiscent of the Jacobins’ reign of terror in revolutionary France, the Bolshevik takeover in 1918 Soviet Russia and Mao Zedong’s cultural revolution — has turned the left into enemies of First-Amendment protected free speech and expression.

The nightmares of George Orwell’s dystopian novels — censorship, doxing, ostracism, Trotskization, statue-toppling, name-changing, historical erasure — have swept America, making the country unrecognizable to half the population.

The model would be similar to a postwar non-aligned Austria and Finland, or Western but neutral Switzerland. Kyiv then would not be a military threat to Russia, but more an asset than a liability to the West.

The result is that voters are worried about more than just their waning domestic and national security, their eroding economy, their unsafe streets, and wide-open borders. They fear they are also targeted by cultural revolutionaries who seek to wipe away the very foundational dates and documents of America — and demonize any who object to their cultural hijacking.

So do not be surprised about the looming counter-revolutionary pushback on November 8. Americans will not just be rejecting the Biden agenda but also voting to save what is left of their civilization itself.
