#1 Ironically, some of the places where Langford shopped for clothes are in predominately white communities over the mountains.
This sentence has no place in the article. Sounds like the author is trying to insert a bit of racism. I lived in Birmingham for 10 years and we always had problems with corupt city officials no matter their skin color. The author is trying to make it sound as if there are still some areas where black people can't go. BS.

Not certain what he's attempting to say Deacon. But there are plenty of places in Birmingham where whites may not wish to loiter.
