A New York judge has just dismissed a laundry list of state charges against former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
New York Judge Maxwell Wiley dismissed state charges against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort Wednesday on double-jeopardy grounds. Manafort was scheduled to appear in criminal court Wednesday on charges of mortgage fraud and other financial crimes filed in New York state court by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office plans to appeal the decision. "We will appeal today’s decision and will continue working to ensure that Mr. Manafort is held accountable for the criminal conduct against the People of New York that is alleged in the indictment," Manhattan district attorney spokesman Danny Frost said in a statement.
[National Review] The former FBI Director evades and dodges in an interview with Chris Wallace.
Twenty years ago, Bill Clinton gave us "it depends upon what the meaning of the word ’is’ is." James Comey has now given us it depends what the meaning of "vindicated" is.
The former FBI director sat down with Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday over the weekend, and it didn’t go well. Wallace repeatedly pressed Comey on critical findings in the Horowitz IG report, and Comey shimmied and dodged, in a master class in slipperiness and evasion.

Wonder how Chris Wallace and a few others manage. They are stalwart defenders of the liberal elites and have been so for years and yet Fox News is still considered a bastion of right wing reporting. Must be maddening to see your hard work go unnoticed.

Wallace's career and gravy train are still safe. His teenage daughters - who, he said, convinced him to "believe 'Dr.'" Blowsey Ford - are not in danger of being denied acceptance to SJW-led elite colleges.

[WarRoom] Democrat billionaire and impeachment obsessive Tom Steyer has spent over $81,000,000 on campaign ads according to numbers released by CNN via Kantar.
The climate change champion, however, is polling at an average of just 1.3 per cent according to RealClearPolitics’ average. I see Bloombergs ads several times each evening in prime time. Thank the TV gods for fast forward and mute!

[IsraelTimes] A judge on Tuesday sentences former Trump campaign official Rick Gates to 45 days in jail despite what she says is "extraordinary" cooperation with special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe and other Justice Department investigations.
The jail sentence, which she says is needed to reflect the seriousness of his crimes, is to be served intermittently during three years of probation.
Prosecutors didn’t seek prison time for Gates, who pleaded guilty in February 2018 to charges relating to lucrative political consulting work he did in Ukraine. They cited Gates’ cooperation, which included testifying in three trials and more than 50 meetings with prosecutors. He shook hands warmly with a prosecutor from Mueller’s team before the hearing began.
[FoxNews] Almost $1.5 trillion of the world's cash, with U.S. $100 bills making up a great deal of it, is reportedly unaccounted for. So what happened to the money?
"Literally, a lot of these $100 bills are sitting in bank vaults all over the world," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told FOX Business' Lou Dobbs during an interview on Tuesday.
Mnuchin pointed to the negative interest rates causing people to turn to American dollars as a solid investment.
"The dollar is the reserve currency of the world, and everybody wants to hold dollars," Mnuchin said on "Lou Dobbs Tonight." "And the reason why they want to hold dollars is because the U.S. is a safe place to have your money, to invest and to hold your assets."

Prob'y sitting in safes of gov't officials and other wealthy individuals countries that have experienced severe currency devaluations recently.
A local currency devaluation makes these individuals' primary investment - real estate - much less valuable. So they shift their investments out of real estate and into hard currency i.e. $$ (or else US real estate - thus more than any factor is driving the California & Vancouver BC / Manhattan / Miami / London real estate booms of recent decades).
Some likely suspects i.e. countries with very weak currencies and/or that experienced major currency devaluations in 2018-19:
- China due to the trade war
- Iran due to the sanctions
- Venezuela due to the leaders' banditry/idiocy
- Argentina due to the leaders' banditry/idiocy
- Indonesia due to the leaders' banditry/idiocy

[IsraelTimes] Lihi Aharon, who was scratched in the face by woman ranting against Jews, urges people to ’not be afraid to fight’ against hate; female suspect charged with assault over incident.
An Israeli student said she was recently attacked on the New York City subway by a woman hurling anti-Semitic at a Jewish passenger.
In a video released Monday, Lihi Aharon recalled boarding the subway in Manhattan and encountering a woman whose possessions were on the nearby seats, which she asked her to move.
"No. Nobody sits here," she quoted the woman, who was identified by the New York Police Department as Zarinah Ali, as saying.
Aharon said she then sat down across from Ali next to a Jewish man, who had a beard and was wearing a kippa.
"As soon as I sat that woman started cursing and yelling at him about him being a Jew and ’holy shit! Allahu akbar’ and how Allah will end us all," she recounted.
She then took out at her phone and began recording Ali, footage of which was included in the video.
"You can record everything you want to sell. holy shit! Allahu akbar. But you know what they’re going to do? It’s gonna be deleted," the woman said.
Ali then began yelling and cursing at her, according to Aharon, before knocking the phone from her hand. Aharon said she then asked a friend to start recording, but Ali also slapped her friend’s phone away.
"All of a sudden she grabbed my face. It happened very, very fast so I decided, it’s not happening today and I had to fight back," she said. "Eventually, that lady found herself outside on the subway station on the floor with all her belongings."
In the subway station, Aharon said she quickly contacted police and was told by passersby she was bleeding.
The video then cuts to footage of Ali sitting on the stairs and cursing as a police officer stands in front of her.
"You fucking stinkin’ ass Jew," the woman says. "You ain’t even a Jew, you white."
Aharon also said the Jewish man she sat next to on the train told her the woman also praised the deadly shooting last week at a kosher supermarket in Jersey City and that it was a shame it was not all Jews who were killed.
"He said that nobody did nothing," Aharon said. "Please, talk, do not be afraid to step up and shut people up because there is no place, not in New York or in any other place on earth, for hatred."
She then pointed to a scar on her face apparently from the attack, saying she wore it "proudly."
"Do not be afraid to fight and return the fight," Aharon said.
A NYPD spokesperson said in a statement that Ali, a 38-year-old from South Orange, New Jersey, was arrested over the December 12 incident and charged with assault for scratching Aharon’s face.
I thought assault was words, while battery is physical.

If guns are outlawed in NY trains, carry a taser ? People have got to fight back. This will just escalate if nobody curb stomps these people every once in a while.
A black woman has been arrested by police after leading an anti-Semitic attack on the New York Subway 2 train by in Manhattan.
Her first target was Yosef Gurevitch, a Lubavitcher Chossid from Crown Heights who runs a Judaica store in Great Neck, NY.
“She was calling out anti-Semitic words, Allah Akbar and slurs against Jews such as the reason for the Jersey City shooting was because Jews were money hungry,” Gurevitch said.
The Chossid said he didn’t respond to her, and other subway riders remained silent too, “because she looked to me drunk or stoned.”
At the next stop by TriBeCa, 2 young Israeli women boarded the train and headed over to the only empty seats – near the verbally abusive woman.
...Aharon began filming the incident which caught the women’s attention. Things quickly escalated and the woman got up and smacked the phone out of Aharon’s hands and began grabbing and striking at her face.
Aharon fought back and knocked the woman down, refusing to be physically beaten, according to a report. The woman lunged herself back at Lihi and the fight continued until they both found each other outside of the train as the doors opened.
“No one did anything. No words. No Actions. Just dozens of people watching as if they were the audience of a TV show,” said Jewish activist Rudy Rochman, who publicized the incident.

A White House request to include $175 million in funding that would help pay for Israeli-Paleostinian peace efforts was left off a final 2020 Appropriations Bill set to pass Tuesday.
The Trump administration’s request to Congress earlier this year had included a so-called Diplomatic Progress Fund to respond to diplomatic breakthroughs, while slashing aid to the Paleostinians to zero.

"herp derp they buy US weapons with it" it's still a subsidy to a wealthy country. How about we just keep the money and cut out the middleman. Who wants to enrich the already rich military industrial complex?

[CTH] During a stunning interview last Sunday Devin Nunes called for the FISA court to be deconstructed. In my opinion it was that statement, not the IG report, that spurred FISC Presiding Judge Rosemary Collyer to make a public order today.
Today, hours after Judge Collyer released her order, Devin Nunes responded to the review of the FISC by stating, accurately, Judge Collyer doth protest too much.
In this interview Devin Nunes outlines his February 2018 notification to the FISC about the specific fraud upon the court; and as a result of that (and a follow-up) notification, Nunes again takes the FISC to task for saying they were not aware. Collyer was aware because Nunes told her.
Accepting the totality of the FISC obfuscation, HPSCI ranking member Devin Nunes again calls for the dismantling of the FISA court process.
Despite the media ignoring the scale of Nunes prior statements, this is not some just some arbitrary representatives' opinion. Nunes was Chairman of the HPSCI when he informed the court of the abuse; and he is currently the ranking member of the same committee.
It is not a signal flare from the ranking member of the HPSCI to call for a structural removal of FISC authority. This is a nuclear blast from the primary person who previously guided the FISA re-authorization that permits the court's existence. See the link for the interview and letters informing FISC in 2018

[Breitbart] Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) hinted in a speech on the Senate floor Tuesday morning that the Senate will move to dismiss the pending articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump after opening arguments in the expected trial.
McConnell was reacting to a proposal by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Monday that the Senate call four additional, in-person witnesses that were not called, or not available, during the House inquiry, led by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA).
But McConnell dismissed that suggestion out of hand, arguing that Schumer was trying to make "Chairman Schiff's sloppy work more persuasive." McConnell accused Schumer of going straight to the news media with his proposals rather than speaking to him in person, as Senate leaders had done in the past.
He also noted that Schumer had misquoted the Constitution.
Ouch. A bludgeon, not a scalpel.
The Democrat leader had claimed the Constitution gave the Senate "sole Power of Impeachment," whereas Article I, Section 3 actually states, "The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments." "We don't create impeachments over here … we judge them," he declared.
It was the House's role to investigate, and to build a case. "If they fail, they fail! It's not the Senate's job to leap into the breach to search desperately for ways to get to guilty. That would hardly be impartial justice." The Senate would not, he said, participate in "new fact-finding" that House Democrats were "too impatient" to pursue.

I should think standard procedure would be to call an immediate informal vote of Dismiss/Proceed to see if they go forward or not. Juries often do that sort of thing to save time and see who needs further convincing.

When I was a jury foreman on a civil case of a lady who got her car rear ended in the ice, and wanted damages from the insurance company for her whiplash injury.
So we went around the room and each juror spoke his or her piece on if she should have damages, how much, and why.
What we found from the git go was that her trooping through things (having a pack on and riding to school in her mountain bike aggravated her original injury, along with other actions, made it impossible for the jury to tell what the original injury resulted in and subsequent injuries resulted in her behavior.
The insurance company was willing to pay $6000. That is what we gave her. We were done in an hour. The judge came in afterwords and discussed the case and our reasoning and he was satisfied. He is now the chief justice of the state supreme court. We could not justify that the preponderance of evidence supported her calculated $87K claim.

[Arutz 7] - The Turkish government is hosting Hamas terrorists on its soil and permitting them to plan terror attacks on Israeli targets, a report released by The Telegraph Tuesday night claims.
According to the report, transcripts of Israeli police interrogations of terrorists show that senior Hamas terrorists are using Istanbul as a center for the terror group’s operations abroad. Terrorist leaders operating out of Turkey’s largest city direct Hamas activities in Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria, the report added, including the a foiled plot to assassinate the mayor of Jerusalem.
Senior Hamas terrorist Zacharia Najib plotted an assassination attack in Jerusalem, pressing 23-year-old terrorist Adham Muselmani, a Jerusalem Arab who had been recruited for the attack, to target either then-Mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat, then-MK Yehuda Glick (Likud), or then-Police Chief Roni Alsheich.
The plot was later foiled after Muselmani returned to Jerusalem and tried to purchase a pistol for the attack, only to be arrested by Israeli authorities.
While Israel has discussed Hamas’ operations on Turkish soil with Turkey’s government, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has refused to crackdown on Hamas terrorists in his country, or even to interfere with their plots against Israel.
Last weekend, Erdogan met with Hamas chief Ismail Haniyah, vowing to continue support for the terror group.
"We will keep on supporting our brothers in Palestine."
Turkey’s tacit support for Hamas violates a 2015 US-brokered deal with Israel, in which Turkey agreed to block Hamas from plotting attacks on Israel from Turkish soil.
"Israel is extremely concerned that Turkey is allowing Hamas terrorists to operate from its territory, in planning and engaging in terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians," the Israeli Foreign Ministry said, according to The Telegraph report.

For decades Hamas operated freely from the Sudan. Having lost that safe-haven it turns to Turkey, the ever friendly home of the international Muslim Brotherhood. What Trump hopes to gain by continuing to play kissy-face with Erdogan is beyond comprehension.
[Arutz-7] - Deputy Defense Minister Avi Dichter on Tuesday posted a response to a Facebook post by MK Yair Lapid following Dichter’s decision to support Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in the primaries for the Likud leadership.
In his post, Dichter criticized Blue and White leader Benny Gantz for aspiring to serve as Prime Minister despite having no previous political experience as an MK or a government minister.
"There is no precedent in Israeli politics, where a candidate is running for Prime Minister who has been neither a minister nor a Knesset member," he wrote.
"Lapid knows full well that it is arrogant to aspire to lead a country like Israel, without having sat in the government for one day. Without any experience, Gantz is being pushed by Lapid and others to this position of Prime Minister and has no parliamentary or governmental knowledge and experience," Dichter added.
"As a concerned citizen and MK and Deputy Defense Minister, I choose to support the best candidate among the contestants," he clarified.
Dichter dismissed the claims that the indictments against Netanyahu prevent him from serving as Prime Minister, writing, "The indictments against Netanyahu will be examined in court in due course. Until it makes its decision, Netanyahu may run and serve as Israel’s Prime Minister. The way in which Lapid cites the indictment is intended to hide his position and opinions on the national issues which are not even compatible with Gantz’s. That is legitimate, but we must disclose the facts as well as the truth. Even his father, Tommy Lapid of blessed memory, who was not moderate in his criticism of Prime Ministers, said clear things about a Prime Minister who had been indicted." What Tommy said, decades ago, was "Do you you want [un-elected bureaucrats] of Prosecutor office to decide who Israeli PM will be?"
"The truth is that under the rule of Netanyahu, the man and the experience, the State of Israel has taken huge steps forward in almost every category that can be measured," he stated.
"But it looks like the heights that Netanyahu brought us to in the past two years are unprecedented," added Dichter. "The US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing the Golan Heights as Israeli territory, and stating that the settlements in Judea and Samaria are legal ‐ wow, what a two-year period. Along with the US's possible recognition of the Jordan Valley as Israel's eastern border we will complete a reality that until two years ago sounded like a dream ... Mr. Lapid, these are the fruits of experience."
"That's why I decided to support Netanyahu and called not to support Gantz. I don't want someone to do his political internship on the back of the state. Did you understand that Lapid?" concluded Dichter. The reason I put this here is because I see a lot of confusion in 'Burg about that goes in in Israel.
(a) Blue & White is not a party - the various components have nothing in common except hatred of Bibi/ambition. If elected they'll start knifing each other within a week.
(b) The so called indictment is a joke. Bibi is accused of giving a newspaper owner a 1.8 billion NIS Gov contract for positive press. To prove it in court you've to:
(i) Show positive press - I don't remember any.
(ii) Show a chain of orders passed from the newspaper owner to the writer.
(iii) If the court accepts that a positive newspaper coverage can be a bribe, then negative coverage is intimidation - any politician will be able to sue any newspaper.

Any folks that I talk to then, who are pro-gantz are potentially your anti-nationals ? Forgive me if I see only binaries when it's about loyalty. I saw them as just snooty 'elevated thinkers', humanists jaded from soldiering, even some 'erb types. Maybe they're just selfish ambitious snobs. Careerists are everywhere but a uniform should put nation first. I know Netanyahu is the best leader you can have for Israel's development and security, but I used to think the others are honest at least. I often wondered why Bibi is targeted by his own.

[JTA] - A Board of Education member in Jersey City has sparked controversy with social media comments following the shooting last week at a kosher market there.
"Where was all this faith and hope when Black homeowners were being threatened, intimidated and harassed by I WANT TO BUY YOUR HOUSE brutes of the jewish community? (sic) They brazenly came on the property of Ward F Black homeowners and waved bags of money," Joan Terrell wrote on Facebook, according to a screenshot circulating on social media.
Terrell was commenting on an article about an event attended by faith leaders and community representatives in Jersey City following the Dec. 10 attack in which two shooters killed two Orthodox Jews and a non-Jewish worker at the JC Kosher Supermarket, as well as a police officer at a nearby cemetery.
A screenshot of her comments started circulating Monday on social media. Terrell wrote that she was "speaking as a private citizen not as an elected member of the Jersey City Board of Education." And the reason I put it into WoT Politix and not "Seedy Politicians" is because?

[The Guardian] Downing Street is threatening the future of the BBC by insisting it is seriously considering decriminalising non-payment of the licence fee, while boycotting Radio 4’s Today programme over the broadcaster’s supposed anti-Tory bias.
No 10 pulled ministers from Saturday’s edition of the Today programme and sources said it intended to "withdraw engagement" from the show in future.
The row is seen as an ominous sign of Boris Johnson’s willingness to bypass independent scrutiny and follows criticism of the BBC’s election coverage from both left and right.
No 10 pointed to Andrew Neil’s on-air monologue in which he lambasted Johnson for his refusal to be interviewed, and the BBC’s "extensive coverage" of a four-year-old boy with suspected pneumonia forced to sleep on a hospital floor ‐ as supposed evidence of anti-Tory, pro-remain bias at the corporation.
Meanwhile, Labour backers have raised concerns about the BBC’s coverage, from the editing out of laughter aimed at Johnson in a news bulletin to leading reporters uncritically repeating Conservative sources, and the prime minister escaping scrutiny after dodging the one-on-one interview with Neil.
The BBC has firmly rejected such criticism. In an email on Friday, the director general, Tony Hall, wrote: "In a frenetic campaign where we’ve produced hundreds of hours of output, of course we’ve made the odd mistake and we’ve held up our hands to them. Editors are making tough calls every minute of the day. But I don’t accept the view of those critics who jump on a handful of examples to suggest we’re somehow biased one way or the other."
[Reason] This latest social media freakout has prompted a formal military investigation.
Young extremists in the Army and Navy? That's one possibility. The more benign explanation—and a far more likely one—is that the cadets were playing a well-known kids' game that has nothing to do with white supremacy.
Several cadets could be seen on camera making the "OK" gesture, which quickly drew the ire of progressive activists due to its recent association with white supremacy. (The hand "OK" sign is now considered an extremist symbol by the Anti-Defamation League, though only under certain circumstances.) 4Chan pranked the idiot left and they can't admit it
It's important to note that the "OK" symbol's status as a hate symbol is hotly debated. It never became a hate symbol on its own terms, but was the subject of a campaign by far-right trolls to convince everyone that touching the thumb to the index finger formed a "W" and a "P" for "white power." According to The New York Times:
It started in early 2017 as a hoax. Some users of 4chan, an anonymous and unrestricted online message board, began what they called "Operation O-KKK," to see if they could trick the wider world — and especially liberals and the mainstream media — into believing that the innocuous gesture was actually a clandestine symbol of white power.
Back to the cadets: Having carefully reviewed the video footage in question, it seems pretty likely that their gestures were even less significant—they are probably playing the circle game. What is the circle game? you ask. Well, it's pretty simple: You make a circle gesture with your hand, and if someone else looks at the circle, you get to punch that person.

[IsraelTimes] Senators who spearheaded bill say they hope move will foster cooperation between the Mediterranean island nation, Greece and Israel.
The US Congress voted Tuesday to lift a decades-old arms embargo on Cyprus, defying The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... by seeking warmer ties at a time of renewed tensions.
The Senate approved the measure as part of a massive defense spending bill that passed 86 to eight and already went through the House of Representatives, with US President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... likely to sign it.
The United States imposed an embargo on the full island in 1987 with an aim to prevent an arms race and encourage a peaceful settlement between the Greek majority and Ottoman Turkish minority.
Critics say the step has been counterproductive by forcing Cyprus to seek other partners while Turkey, a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions... member, has stationed forces in northern Cyprus since its invasion in 1974.
Democratic Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Republican Senator Marco Rubio ...The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida... of Florida spearheaded the effort, saying they also wanted to encourage growing cooperation between Cyprus, Greece and Israel. Move Incirlick's NATO forces to Cyprus
"With Cyprus seeking to deepen its strategic partnership with the United States, it is in our national security and economic interest to lift this outdated decades-long arms restrictions that are no longer helping US security objectives," Menendez said after initial approval of the lifting of the embargo.
While the two Cypriot communities have made progress in improving relations, tensions have spiked over an accord between Turkey and Libya for newly discovered gas reserves in the eastern Mediterranean, undercutting claims by Greece and the internationally recognized Republic of Cyprus.
US officials have been concerned that the ban has brought EU member Cyprus closer to Russia, with the island in 2015 signing off on an access deal to its ports.
Under the new act, the United States will still restrict certain sensitive technologies to Cyprus unless the US certifies that the island is denying Russia military vessels port access for refueling and servicing.
In a standoff in 1997, Turkey threatened an attack on Cyprus if it went ahead with installing the advanced S-300 missile defense system from Russia. Someone left the irony on...
The controversy is now a relic of another time, with Turkey facing the threat of sanctions for buying the S-400 system from Russia despite its NATO membership.
Representatives of Turkey and the self-styled Ottoman Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus had lobbied against the lifting of the embargo, arguing that Congress was giving the green light to an arms race.
Turkey invaded in 1974 in response to a coup engineered by the then military regime in Athens that aimed to unite Cyprus with Greece.

Trying to give the locals reasons to not support the local jihadis — formerly Ansar Bayt al Maqdis, most recently ISIS in the Sinai Province.
[AlAhram] The agreement was signed by Egypt's Minister of Investment and International Cooperation and the USAID Mission Director in Egypt
Egypt and the USAID signed on Tuesday an agreement for an additional $6 million for the North Sinai development initiative, bringing the total in the bilateral assistance programme to the governorate to $56 million.
The agreement was signed by Egypt's Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr and the USAID Mission Director in Egypt Sherry Carlin, in attendance of the US Ambassador in Egypt Jonathan Cohen.
Nasr said that the agreement aims at achieving major social and developmental improvement for citizens in North Sinai through providing safe drinking water and sanitation services for around 100,000 residents, in addition to upgrading the infrastructure in order to attract investments.
"The ties between Egypt and the USA are strategic. The current economic cooperation reflects the economic partnership between the two countries in the developmental sectors of top national priority, in line with the social and economic reform programme that Egypt is undertaking," according to Nasr.
The minister said that the Egyptian government’s priorities include the empowerment of young people and women, supporting SMEs, improving drinking water and sanitation, and expanding social protection programmes through implementing development projects in all sectors, especially in infrastructure, new road networks, social housing, healthcare, and education.

[RADIOSHABELLE] al-Shabaab ...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them... has grabbed credit for two separate attacks in Galkayo and Bossaso, both located in Somalia’s northeastern Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... The first attack in the northern part of Galkayo on Sunday night was used two grenade bombs targeted a cop shoppe, wounding two soldiers and one civilian, residents said.
Al-Shabaab also grabbed credit for an liquidation in Bossaso, the commercial capital of Puntland.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Pakistain Prime Minister Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer... said on Tuesday that millions of Moslems could flee India due to the curfew in the disputed territory of Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... and India’s new citizenship law, creating "a refugee crisis that would dwarf other crises."
Khan, addressing the Global Forum on Refugees in Geneva, said: "We are worried there not only could be a refugee crisis, we are worried it could lead to a conflict between two nuclear-armed countries."
"Our country will not be able to accommodate more refugees," he added, urging the world to "step in now."

"Our country will not be able to accommodate more refugees,"
The population of Pakistain is 218 million. A few more nutters could hardly make a difference. Of course, it would be a horrible loss of diversity for India.

We did get lucky, Chris. Only in that now we have a list of so many more exposed Leftists and islamists. Enemies and traitors became so much easier to identify now. But nobody's fleeing India.
Indian muslims enjoy liberties even muslims in Saudi Arabia are not allowed. No one flees India, ever in fact. Except for fugitives of course. Imran is just playing on the ignorance of the west about realities in Asia. Trying to drum up a response to the words 'crisis' and 'refugees' before an audience where such things work.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A preliminary trade deal reached between the United States and China has offset much of the damage done to global trade activity prospects, but tensions remain high and renewed escalation still poses risks, Fitch Ratings said in a statement on Tuesday.
Fitch noted that neither side of the agreement have provided details on the deal, "which makes it difficult to determine how viable it will be to implement."
On Friday, China and the US agreed a phase one deal, in which both countries will cut tariffs and China will purchase more American agricultural products. The nine-chapter text, which covers technology transfer, financial services, and dispute settlement, will undergo legal and translation review before it can be ratified, Chinese officials said.
"The trade war nonetheless appears far from over, even with a Phase One deal," the ratings agency said in a statement. "Fitch believes that underlying strategic tensions will remain between the US and China, particularly in fields such as technology, which will pose a major obstacle to full resolution of the trade war."
Fitch said that parts of the plan that have been publicly reported, such as the US Trade Representative’s statement that China will increase its imports of US goods and services by at least $200 billion in total over 2020-2021, seem unrealistic.
"Official statements indicate that the effective US tariff rate on imports from China will fall to around 16 percent under the plan, compared with earlier plans that would have seen it rise to around 25 percent," Fitch said in its statement about the deal.
"This represents a significant shift compared with our earlier assumption that the full set of tariff increases announced by the US in late August would be implemented."
The ratings agency now expects China’s economy to grow by close to 6 percent in 2020, compared with an earlier forecast of 5.7 percent.
"This will, in turn, support the outlook for the global economy, helping world GDP growth to stabilize in 2020 after falling to 2.6 percent this year from 3.2 percent in 2018," Fitch said.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Syrian regime air strikes and artillery fire on Tuesday killed 14 civilians in the last major opposition bastion in the northwest of the country, a war monitor said.
The bully boy-held region of Idlib is supposed to be protected by a months-old ceasefire deal to prevent a broad regime offensive, but deadly bombardment has continued.
The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said regime artillery fire killed six civilians from the same family -- including a mother and her three children -- in the village of Badama.
In the village of Maasaran, regime air strikes killed a further four civilians.
Pro-government bombardment also led to four other civilians losing their lives in other parts of the bastion, the Observatory said.
The Idlib region, which is home to some three million people including many displaced by Syria’s civil war, is controlled by the country’s former al-Qaeda affiliate.
The Damascus regime has repeatedly vowed to take back control of it.
Pro-government forces launched a blistering offensive against the region in April, killing around 1,000 civilians and displacing more than 400,000 people from their homes.
Moscow announced a ceasefire in late August, but the Observatory says deadly bombardment and skirmishes have persisted.
It says more than 200 civilians have been killed in the region since the deal.
Syria’s war has killed over 370,000 people and displaced millions from their homes since beginning in 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-government protests.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An Israeli aircraft on Tuesday hit what the military said was an armed Paleostinian seen approaching the Israeli border fence in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... "A short while ago, troops spotted an armed terrorist approaching the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip," an army statement said.
An Israeli military "aircraft targeted him. A hit was identified," it added.
The statement did not confirm whether the man had been killed and the Paleostinian health ministry in the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",-controlled strip had no immediate comment.
Hamas has controlled Gaza since 2007, and Israel holds the movement responsible for all hostile activity coming from the territory, although it has also hit other holy warrior groups there.
Last month, Israeli forces assassinated a senior Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... leader in the Gaza Strip, sparking a two-day flare-up which killed 36 Paleostinians.
Islamic Jihad fired around 450 rockets at Israel, many of which were intercepted by its Iron Dome defense system.
Israel has fought three wars with Hamas and allied gangs in Gaza since 2008.

[THEBAGHDADPOST] Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan called on Tuesday for the resettlement of 1 million Syrian refugees in a "peace zone" in the northern part of their homeland, on a voluntary basis but in "a very short period of time".
"We need to find formula to allow refugees... who traveled to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... to be resettled in their motherland," Erdogan, whose country hosts 3.7 million Syrian refugees, told the Global Forum on Refugees, being held in Geneva.
Housing and schools could be set up in the zone, where some 371,000 Syrian refugees have already returned since Ottoman Turkish military operations to clear the area of "terrorist organizations", he said, naming Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. [ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Israel has approved the export of gas from its offshore reserves to Egypt, a spokeswoman said Tuesday, with a major reservoir expected to begin operations imminently.
The Monday approval by Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz was part of a long process under which Israel will transform from an importer of natural gas from Egypt into an exporter and potential regional energy player.
"Exporting gas to Egypt, from Leviathan and Tamar (fields), is the most significant economic cooperation between Israel and Egypt since the peace treaty was signed between the states," Steinitz said.
It will be the first time Egypt, which in 1979 became the first Arab country to sign a peace accord with Israel, imports gas from its neighbor.
US-based Noble and Israel's Delek, the consortium leading the development of the two offshore reservoirs, struck a $15 billion 10-year deal last year with Egypt’s Dolphinus to supply 64 billion cubic metres (2.26 trillion cubic feet).
Israel had previously bought gas from Egypt, but land sections of the pipeline were targeted multiple times by Sinai jihadists in 2011 and 2012.
Soaring demand also meant Egypt could use its gas domestically.
Tamar, which began production in 2013, has estimated reserves of up to 238 billion cubic metres (8.4 trillion cubic feet). Israel’s neighbor to the east, Jordan, has been purchasing gas from Tamar on a small scale for nearly three years.
Leviathan, discovered in 2010, is estimated to hold 535 billion cubic metres (18.9 trillion cubic feet) of natural gas, along with 34.1 million barrels of condensate.
Leviathan is expected to be operational in "a matter of days", a spokeswoman for Delek told AFP, with exports to Egypt set to begin on January 1.
The large volume of the Egyptian deal would make Israel "an important partner in the regional energy economy," Steinitz said.
"The natural gas revolution has made us an energy superpower and will not only provide huge income to the state but also a significant reduction in air pollution."
Besides being energy independent, Israel hopes its gas reserves will enable it to strengthen strategic ties in the region and help forge new ones, with an eye on the Europe ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... an market.
Natural gas is set to replace coal as the fuel generating electricity in Israel's power plants.
Critics note that while less polluting than coal, gas is still far from being a clean source of energy.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] South Sudan’s president Salva Kiir said he and the country’s main former rebel leader reached a deal on Tuesday to form a long-delayed unity government.
Kiir and Riek Machar, who is now opposition leader, met over the past three days in the capital Juba to resolve outstanding disputes that prevented the formation of a coalition government in time for a Nov. 12 deadline.
There were international concerns that war could resume over the disputes.
Last month, the two leaders bought time by delaying the government’s formation for 100 days beyond that deadline.

Didn't the Talibs just bail on some peace talks?
I'm seeing this pattern where every time they walk away from a deal, a whole bunch of them get whacked. Almost as if someone wants to send a message.
[DAWN] A special court in Islamabad on Tuesday found former military ruler retired Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf ...former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date... guilty of high treason and handed him a death sentence ...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead... under Article 6 of the Constitution.
This is the first time in Pakistain's history that a military chief has been declared guilty of high treason and handed a death sentence. The verdict was split 2-1.
Article 6 of the Constitution says: "Any person who abrogates or subverts or suspends or hold in abeyance, or attempts or conspires to abrogate or subvert or suspend or hold in abeyance the Constitution by use of force or show force or by any other unconstitutional means shall be guilty of high treason."
The punishment for high treason is death or lifetime imprisonment, according to the High Treason (Punishment) Act, 1973.
The three-member bench of the special court ‐ headed by Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire... High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and comprising Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC ‐ announced the verdict in the long-drawn high treason case against Musharraf after hearing final arguments today. A detailed verdict will be issued in 48 hours.
The former military chief is currently in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. He was admitted to a hospital following deterioration of his health earlier this month. In a video statement from his hospital bed, he called the treason case "absolutely baseless". "I have served my country for 10 years. I have fought for my country. This [treason] is the case in which I have not been heard and I have been victimised," he had stated.
His team can appeal today's verdict in the Supreme Court. If the top court upholds the special court's verdict, the president possesses the constitutional authority under Article 45 to pardon a death row defendant.

If they punish Perv, then the next time they have a coup the General-in-Charge will have to remain dictator until he dies in office, one way or the other. It'll be a one way street.
If they don't punish Perv, then another coup is assured.
With this compromise, Perv (kind of the best of a poor lot of dictators) is "punished," but he's pit of the country, so no actual firing squad is involved. ISPR sez he can never be a traitor, leaving the door kinda sorta open for future dictators, and the attorney general calling the decision "void" sez the current govt's on the side of the military that

He killed Mrs Bhutto, destroyed hundreds of careers and families of men just doing their jobs. He invited the taliban into Balochistan, established Al-qaeda camps in the Sistan region and ordered the deaths of thousands of poor tribals. Murdered judges, lawyers and activists, no action could be taken against Perv's muscle for fear of liquidation.
The atrocities under him and his aide Tariq Aziz were left out by major networks because the BBC was turning pro-pakistan back then. No one got to know about his crimes, but the judiciary knew and they remembered. This only means that as democracy tries to assert itself in the 'Stain, the judiciary is trying their limits.
Not sure whether their military babus can work things Musharraf style to save him under the gaze of global watchdogs. Ideally it should deter them, but the watchdogs themselves seem to be corrupt as hell. Either way, he's going to get his punishment and suffer to death.
[AndMagazine] The essence of a coup, which some might refer to as covert action, is the hidden hand. One does not announce that a foreign power is overthrowing the government and installing a new government. One pulls strings as if from behind a curtain, making events that are all part of a carefully orchestrated plan appear disconnected, spontaneous and serendipitous.
As I read through the recently released IG report for the second time, as someone with a great deal of experience in military and intelligence matters, I see that hand everywhere.
Per the IG report, a single report is delivered to the FBI in the summer of 2016. It concerns a meeting between a cooperative contact of a foreign intelligence service and a junior level employee of the Trump campaign, George Papadopoulos. The report relates what are frankly very amorphous comments by Papadopoulos concerning the Russian government and its alleged possession of information on Crooked Hillary Clinton ...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away... On any other day this report would command no attention whatsoever. The source in question has no track record of any kind with the FBI. Papadopoulos has been employed by the Trump campaign for perhaps 90 days at this point, and there is no reason to believe he has contacts of significance in the Kremlin.
Not on this occasion. This one report from a foreign intelligence service goes directly to the top of the FBI. The Director himself, JamesThe spine of the FBI is the rule of law Comey The disgraced, except in his own mind, former head of the FBI... is briefed. A full investigation is launched. Multiple confidential human sources are tasked. Wiretaps are ordered. A task force is organized. Crossfire Hurricane is born.
There is a problem, though. This hand, perhaps because it is controlled by individuals who have made their bones riding desks in Washington, DC and not in the field running actual operations, is clumsy. The information regarding Papadopoulos provided the needed pretext to start an investigation, but most of the people who will now form the investigative team are not in on the plot. They will have to be led to the pre-ordained conclusion, so that it appears that they did so without outside interference.
And these Sherlocks have a pesky habit of actually doing their jobs.
Almost immediately these Sherlocks demonstrate that Papadopoulos does not have the access within the Trump campaign necessary for the suspected Russian connections. If there is a conduit, Papadopoulos cannot be it.
Suddenly, Carter Page is shoved forward as the new focus of the investigation. His contacts with Russians are long-standing and well-known. He will serve well as the new target. Human sources are mobilized. Wiretaps are ordered.
But, there is another problem. Those wielding the clumsy hidden hand have forgotten the first rule of real operational personnel. Never move against a target until you have run "traces." until you have run the individual’s name through our databases, checked the records and found out what we already know about him. Maybe the conspirators really don’t know that. Maybe they just don’t dare do so, because it will mean involving working-level personnel who are not in on the joke.
In any event, they apparently did not run "traces" and as a consequence they clearly do not know that, yes, Mr. Page has extensive Russian contacts and, yes, he has been reporting to "another government agency" for many years on those contacts. Page is a source. Our source.

If and only if the Trunks take back the House, the Constitution says Congress sets the judicial structures. They can empower tribunals above SCOTUS to address the coup and those allied with it. If Donks want to play this game for keeps, the Trunks had better be prepared to understand that in the end there can be only one.
[THEBAGHDADPOST] This morning, three truck drivers were killed on a road in Salah al-Din Governorate.
A security source told Shafaq News that button men opened fire on truck drivers on a road in Baiji in Salah al-Din Governorate, killing 3 of them and wounding the fourth.
He added, "The truck drivers are all residents of Ramadi city in Anbar and from Albou-Fahd tribe."
The dead drivers included each of, "Mahmoud Farhan Hammadi al-Fahdawi, Taha Khalaf al-Fahd al-Fahdawi, Khamis Mahmoud al-Fahdawi, and the maimed Walid Khaled Khalif."
He indicated that the incident was ambiguous, and it was not known whether the motives for the killing were a tribal dispute or an ISIS attack.

[NYTimes] LOS ANGELES ‐ The next Democratic presidential debate will go on as scheduled Thursday [19 Dec], after negotiators on Tuesday reached agreement in a labor dispute that had threatened to upend the event while highlighting the influence that organized labor wields with the leading Democratic presidential candidates.
The debate, which will be held at Loyola Marymount University, had been in question since last week after the seven participating Democrats each said that they would not cross a picket line, if there was one.
The dispute, between a cafeteria workers union and a food services company at Loyola Marymount, involved only about 150 workers and had drawn little notice over nine months. [a few weeks after the debate the Food Services Co will probably go into bankruptcy and void the new agreement]

[Babylon Bee] Classic historical drama film Braveheart is receiving a reboot by Paramount Pictures next year, this time with an all-female cast. Lena Dunham will play the starring role of Willow Wallace, a "fierce Scottish she-warrior who don't need no man."
Co-stars include Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer, and Beyonce. The band of female fighters will go on a brave quest to topple the patriarchy in 14th-century England, attempting to establish an all-female commune in present-day Scotland.
In an inspiring speech late in the film, Dunham's character will rant about abortion rights and healthcare for all, inspiring her squad of she-soldiers to charge into battle. "Aye, fight, and you may die. Run, and you may live another day being oppressed by heteronormative gender constructs," she yells. "But dying in a concentration camp run by Mike Pence many years from now, would you trade all the days from this day to that, to come back here and tell our patriarchal oppressors that they may take our lives, but they will never take our access to abortion on demand?"
The majority of the army is, of course, slaughtered. *snicker*
"Historical drama films about men who actually existed have been very exclusionary in the past, insisting on casting men to play the men," said director Zena Noman. "We can finally end the discrimination that women face in not being cast for male roles. It's time to break the stigma."
Paramount is hoping the film can make at least $10 at the box office, according to insiders.

Dang, missed another one. I would have sworn this was Hollywood and not The Bee.
Not if you have been following the devolution of the Star Wars and Ghostbusters franchises. As for the "starring Lena DumbHam" part, I could totally see Obama-tainted Netflix doing this.

There is zero substance to Zero's sweetheart gig w Netflix. He's not "producing" anything that anyone would bother to watch.
His $68m contract was a straightforward payoff for 8 years of ensuring the bogus policy of "net neutrality," without which profit-less NFLX would collapse overnight.
Amazing perspective from a brain washed German soldier of the Hitler Youth. The chaos the German soldier experienced after the Americans and British entered the war.

On a trip through the Panama Canal I had dinner with a German Sub sailor. I made a comment about all the wrecks on the bottom of the Caribbean, I was a sub sailor. One of the comments he made was that his ship had sunk 3 American coming out of the camel. To make a long story short I asked why Hitler was elected. He stated that the choice was Hitler or a Communist and everyone hated communists.

The left has no concept of Christian Values. Love One Another, The Golden Rule, Say Less/Listen More, The Ten Commandments. As more and more of the people this nation become like this, and continue to send reps just as sorry as they are to the Capitols, the US will enter into a disgraceful period of behavior that will bring war to this once peaceful land.

Reportedly the ringleader of the assault on Jonathan Gilliam - he was "jumped" by "3 to 6 individuals" while escorting the pro-Trump women to safety, by his account - is the best man from the DNC member's wedding.
Can you imagine going to a wedding and perpetrating a hate-filled riot?
This wasn't Hatfields and McCoys, or some kind of Cirkassian ritual kidnapping of the bride, or some other antediluvian ritual of the uncivilized.
These are senior members of the Democratic National Committee.
In DC. At the most prestigious hotel in our nation's capital, around the corner from the White House.
What kind of demented animal behaves like this today, in civilized, polite society?

What you need is a unaccountable right-wing militia. False flag, guerilla and scary. And maybe some changes to the 22ns Amendment during the next Trump term wouldn't hurt.
A gloved fist isn't so bad, if it's the right hand.

From Bobby's link:
Breitbart News was unable to reach Ruder, whom witnesses said attended the wedding party for Jessica Tvelia and Dennis O’Brien.
O’Brien is listed as Director of Operations for the Boeing Company’s Government Operations office in Washington, DC, on the company’s website:
Prior to joining Boeing, O’Brien served as the Deputy CEO for Finance and Administration at the Democratic National Convention Committee in Philadelphia, PA, where he managed finance, compliance, human resources, administration and general business services for the 2016 national party convention.

“The regime wants to intimidate Christians not to celebrate their religion," religious freedom expert Nina Shea tells Al Arabiya English following the arrest of evangelicals in Iran. https://t.co/FwLwGpaqjL
[NYPOST] A rape accuser of former Soros Fund portfolio manager Howard Rubin has backed off of her allegations amid a new settlement agreement between the pair, according to court papers and a sworn statement.
The woman sued the financier in 2018 for $7 million claiming that he brutalized her in his sex dungeon while repeatedly ignoring their agreed-upon safe word "pineapples" in 2015. Rubin denied the allegations. No, no! Certainly not! The accuser "voluntarily discontinues all of her claims against defendant Howard Rubin" the pair’s lawyers said in Manhattan Supreme Court papers filed Monday. "Our safe word was 'Flower', but she kept saying 'Flour'"
And in a sworn statement from Dec. 4 the woman said that she "knowingly and voluntarily chose to engage in consensual sexual activity with Mr. Rubin, including Sadomasochistic activity."
She also said in the statement that she voluntarily signed a confidentiality agreement with him Nov. 5, 2015.
The woman had claimed at the time that she had been plied with alcohol before she was made to sign the nondisclosure agreement.
"I now realize that my decision to file legal claims against Mr. Rubin was a mistake, and I have no claim for damages," she went on to say in the statement.
In October, the woman accused Rubin of tricking her into agreeing to a settlement offer, only for Rubin to later demand she "sign a statement exonerating" him after they already hashed out the deal.
The woman’s lawyer, Kevin Landau, told The Post that the terms of the settlement are "highly confidential."
"I can’t elaborate about the terms. All I can say is that the case needed to be resolved," Landau said. "The case is now done."
In September, another woman alleged in a lawsuit she was sexually abused by Rubin and another woman at his apartment ‐ and that Rubin later threatened to discredit her as a hooker if she brought claims against him. Rubin denied those accusations as well.
Three other women brought similar claims of sexual abuse and rape against Rubin in a Brooklyn federal lawsuit in 2017. That case is still pending.
Rubin’s lawyer also said, "The terms of the settlement agreement are confidential."

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Ottoman Turkish police on Tuesday detained 181 people suspected of ties to a group blamed for a 2016 coup attempt, the Ankara public prosecutor’s office said.
The detentions came after the capital’s public prosecutor issued arrest warrants for 260 suspects accused of using the encrypted ByLock messaging application which authorities believe was used to coordinate the coup bid.
Another 18 suspects, including 10 doctors, were sought in a second probe.
Officers have so far detained 171 people in Ankara and another 10 suspects elsewhere, the office said without giving details.
Tens of thousands have been arrested over alleged ties to US-based Moslem preacher Fethullah Gülen ... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world. Gülen and Erdogan used to be really good friends, but only one of them could be sultan, and Gülen lost... who Ankara says ordered the failed coup. Gulen denies this.
Since the failed overthrow of President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important... , authorities have also sacked or suspended over 140,000 public sector workers over suspected links to Gulen.
[AlAhram] Russia's President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... and Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will discuss Ankara's offer to provide military support to Libya's internationally recognised government during talks in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... next month, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Turkey sent a bilateral accord with the Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... government to its parliament for approval, in a move that brings it closer to potentially sending military aid for the government of Fayez al-Serraj.
Turkey has said that it may send military support to Libya if Serraj's government requested it, but Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Saturday that no such request had been made to Turkey yet.
"Russia... supports any efforts and individual countries in terms of finding solutions to the (Libyan) crisis," said Kremlin front man Dmitry Peskov.
Later on Tuesday, Erdogan and Putin held a phone call where they discussed developments in Libya and Syria, as well as their bilateral ties and other regional issues, the Ottoman Turkish presidency said in a statement. No further details were available.
Libya has been divided since 2014 into rival military and political camps in the capital Tripoli and the east. Turkey has backed Serraj's Tripoli-based government, while forces led by Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... in eastern Libya, the Libyan National Army (LNA), have received support from the Russia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

[NYPOST] In a rare public rebuke, the chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court slammed the FBI Tuesday for misleading it in applications to wiretap a former Trump campaign aide, giving the bureau until Jan. 10 to come up with solutions.
The order came in the wake of findings from Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz, who uncovered multiple instances of abuse in his review of the feds’ use of FISA warrants to surveil Carter Page, a one-time foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign.
The court ripped the FBI for mistakes it made in the Page case, and ordered the agency to explain how it will improve its warrant submissions in light of the litany of errors Horowitz uncovered.
"The FBI’s handling of the Carter Page applications, as portrayed in the OIG report, was antithetical to the heightened duty of candor described above," FISA court presiding Judge Rosemary Collier wrote in an opinion for the court published Tuesday.
"The frequency with which representations made by FBI personnel turned out to be unsupported or contradicted by information in their possession, and with which they withheld information detrimental to their case, calls into question whether information contained in other FBI applications is reliable."

The analysis lab is saying that if you substitute someone else's pee for examination, they're not responsible for the false report. They followed procedures even though the labels indicated that these weren't your normal run of the mill daily types.

So the FBI came back with some 40 points to improve the process. This is all a sham. There was a crime committed against Carter Page, against the President, against the constitution. This incompetence started a billion dollar investigation, it derailed a sitting president, it cheated 61 million Americans out of the national agenda they voted for and won. This is NOT some administrative bullshit with a few points to tighten up the process...

Jailtime for the agents involved AND the judges. I believe they were well aware of what was going on and allowed it.
Personally I'd prefer the death penalty to really rub it in but sadly we won't get that.

..given how effective both the Russian and Chinese counter intelligence offices have been the FBI looks like the Keystone Kops with all the penetrations carried out by foreign intel.

This is resembling a Maxwell Smart episode. They claimed that their own guy was actually a Russian spy - that Carter Page, CIA asset, was actually a GRU asset.
Actually it reminds me of that Italian comedy scene in which Bob Benigni (?sp) the buffon pretends to be a surgeon in the operating room and ends up administering the anesthesia ... to himself. Scene ends with Dr. Clown passing out on top of his patient in the operating table.

[ToloNews] Gen. Khoshal Sadat, the deputy interior minister, ordered the arrest of former local forces commander Nizamuddin Qaisari in the northern province of Balkh and deployed 60 members of the police special unit from Kabul, Balkh Police Chief Gen. Ajmal Fayez said.
The police chief said they are not regretting conducting the operation ‐ which according to locals turned the city of Mazar into a war zone for almost two days.
At least eight of Qaisari’s aids were killed in this operation that continued for at least 20 hours, according to local security officials.

Demilitarize Ukraine entirely and make it a neutral zone. Finlandization worked well during the Cold War.
We have zero, absolutely zero, national security interest in Ukraine. Settle this and move on to more important matters. Like, you know, containing China.
Get back to the situation that Bush promised Gorbachev-- no NATO expansion beyond the already provocative expansion in to Poland, the Balts and Romania.

[NYPOST] A Fox Business news hound was busted last week trying to sneak a glass crack pipe into the federal courthouse in downtown Manhattan, sources and law enforcement told The Post.
Lawrence Crook III was on his way into the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse at 500 Pearl St. to cover the Sprint/T-Mobile merger trial on Dec. 9 when an eagle-eyed court security officer noticed a strange bulge in his sock, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the incident.
Crook immediately fessed up when confronted with the contraband, and began whining about how he’d recently lost his job at CNN and was in "big trouble," sources said.
A front man with Federal Protective Services offered a different version of events, claiming the glass pipe fell out of Crook’s pocket.
The 36-year-old was escorted from the premises without incident, and issued a violation for possessing drug paraphernalia on federal property, the front man said.

[RADIOSHABELLE] The Somali government conducted an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... on a suspected al-Shabaab ...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... Death Eater in the country’s south in cooperation with the United States military, Somalia’s federal government said on Monday.
"On the evening of 16 December 2019, the Federal Government of Somalia in coordination with U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike against an al-Shabaab operative near Dujumma, Somalia," a Somali government source said in a statement to The Defense Post.
"It is assessed that one al-Shabaab operative was killed in the airstrike. Also at this time, it has been assessed that no civilians have been killed or injured.”
[Rudaw] Police Major Sardar Fadhel Yahya’s phone buzzed with a new WhatsApp message. It was a plea for help from a woman who said she was locked in a room with little food and no clean water. She didn’t know where she was, but, at Yahya’s urging, sent her digital location via the messaging application. With that information, Yahya was able to narrow down where she was and get a court order authorizing him and his team to enter the premises.
Yahya is head of the Erbil office of the Ministry of the Interior’s Directorate of Combating Human Trafficking. The directorate opened on June 1, 2019 as mandated by the trafficking law passed a year earlier and has branches across the Kurdistan Region. The Erbil branch is located in the capital’s Dream City neighbourhood, a gated complex of grandiose houses built on what was barren land prior to 2003 and is now home to wealthy residents, most of whom have nannies or maids. The directorate opened half empty, with a minimal staff of just under 20 people to provide the most crucial services, but plans to expand once the government lifts its austerity hiring freeze and they can get more funding.
The office is reachable through a Facebook page and a phone number, 07509879911. They receive a lot of tips and appeals for help via WhatsApp and Viber, Yahya explained in an interview at his office on November 5.

[RADIOSHABELLE] At least three people have been killed and several maimed in a daring overnight attack by al-Shabaab ...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... on a key Somali military base in the outskirts of Mogadishu on Monday night.
According to the sources, the ambush led to a heavy shootout between the troops and armed hard boyz that led to the deaths of two soldiers and one civilian.
Al-Shabaab has grabbed credit for the assault and said its fighters killed three government soldiers stationed in the base which is located near Bal’ad town.
The attack was the latest in series of al-Shabaab campaign against Somali military bases in southern regions as the country’s army with AU and American forces step up operations to retake areas still under the Death Eaters’ control.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Students, teachers and other demonstrators rallied in their thousands in Algeria’s capital Tuesday against the newly elected president, rejecting his offer of dialogue with a months-old protest movement.
Abdelmadjid Tebboune won 58.1 percent of the vote in Thursday’s election, according to official results, and on Friday said he was ready for talks to "build a new Algeria."
But protesters, long opposed to an election they saw as a ploy by the establishment to consolidate power after ailing president Abdelaziz Bouteflika ...10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and served on his third or four terms. When he announced for the fifth, or maybe it was the sixth, visibly doddering, a grateful nation rose up in its wrath and threw him out... resigned under popular pressure in April, remained defiant.
Shouts of "The election was fixed! It wasn’t legitimate! The march will continue!" filled the air in Algiers during the first weekly rally since the poll, an AFP journalist said.
Security forces were heavily deployed, but there were no confrontations between them and demonstrators.
"Tebboune will not govern us!" protesters shouted, vowing to keep the poll winner from taking up residence at the presidential palace.
He is set to be sworn in during a ceremony in Algiers on Thursday, the presidency said.
The protest movement has rocked Algeria since February, initially demanding Bouteflika step down then pushing for the remnants of his regime to make way for new, independent institutions.
Turnout in the election was 39.9 percent, according to the constitutional council.
All five candidates had links to Bouteflika, who ruled for two decades despite suffering a debilitating stroke in 2013.
Tebboune is also seen as close to army chief Ahmed Gaid Salah, who became the country’s de facto strongman following Bouteflika’s departure.
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A roadside kaboom killed 10 members of one family, including three women and two children, in southeastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, officials said.
The front man for the Interior Ministry, Nasrat Rahimi, said the earth-shattering kaboom took place in eastern Khost province ... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name... , in the district of Ali Sher.
He said three children, two women and five men were killed.
No one immediately grabbed credit but Rahimi blamed the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... who regularly target Afghan cops and government officials by planting roadside kabooms across the country.
Scores of civilians are killed in such attacks.
The Taliban today control or hold sway over half the country and, along with the ISIS group, stage near-daily attacks.
Assailants attack several protest camps in north and south Lebanon, according to state-run media, some of it apparently carried out by Lebanese Hezbollah supporters and their allies.https://t.co/yukcODZN7Ppic.twitter.com/murz9XRubT
