Energy Secretary Chu: Under the Bus
Energy Department officials were warned that their plan to help a failing solar company by restructuring its $535 million federal loan could violate the law and should be cleared with the Justice Department, according to newly obtained e-mails from within the Obama administration.

The records provided Friday by a government source also show that an Energy Department stimulus adviser, Steve Spinner, pushed for Solyndra’s loan despite having recused himself because his wife’s law firm did work for the company. Spinner, who left the agency in September 2010, did not respond to requests for comment Friday.
Maybe he was out of town? Give the guy a week, anyway!

President Obama defended the Energy Department in a news conference Thursday, saying its decisions were made by career professionals.
Noah's Ark was designed by amateurs, the Titanic by professionals.

Also Thursday, the head of the embattled loan program announced that he would step down, although Energy Department officials said he was not doing so because of the Solyndra matter.

Energy spokesman, Damien LaVera, said agency officials had listened to Treasury’s advice to consult the Justice Department on the loan restructuring but felt it was appropriate to move forward. “Ultimately, DOE’s determination that the restructuring was legal was made by career lawyers in the loan program based on a careful analysis of the statute,” he said.

In February, the restructuring was approved by Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

#1  I hope it's a "green" bus.

#2  Noah's Ark was designed by the Supreme Professional, but built by amateurs. The Titanic was designed and built by professionals, but captained by an extreme egotist. The Solyndra debacle was also guided by extreme egotists, with similar results to what happened to the Titanic.

CA Governor Brown Signs Bill Giving State Financial Aid to Illegals
I'm soooo angry. My kids don't qualify but these do? The Democrats in this great state should be evicted...but who would take em?
Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a bill allowing illegal immigrant students applying to state universities to receive state-funded scholarships and financial aid.
If there's money available for illegals, there's too much money
AB131 by Democratic Assemblyman Gil Cedillo of Los Angeles is the second half of the California Dream Act. Brown, a Democrat, signed the first part in July, which approved private scholarships and loans for illegal immigrant students.

The bill requires the immigrant students to meet the same requirements as others but specifies they would only qualify for financial aid after all the other legal residents have applied
the same people who apply "colorblind rules" will find a way around this requirement too. As if there's additional unused money available while we're shutting down State Parks?
Brown says the bill gives top students a chance to expand their educational opportunities
GilCedillo is a racist Mexican-"American" and needs to stripped of his citizenship and be deported

#1  I have this mental Image of Chickens, Millions of them all waiting impatiently for dinner.

And the State just gave it to them, all of them.

BUCK, BUCK, BUCKAW.

#2  No doubt this will lead to another round of well-deserved mockery for the once great state of California. But I think before we start, we should pause for a moment and honor them for performing a most interesting experiment, namely: What if we put every stupid idea we could possibly think of in a pile and did them all at once?

Here's hoping we can profit from the lesson and that we don't get stuck cleaning up the wreckage of what was once the most prosperous state in the Union. Good luck, suckers!

#4  No the question is how soon will us Kansans (and other states) be forced to bail California out?

#5  "the question is how soon will us Kansans (and other states) be forced to bail California out?"

As soon as the other 98 Senators and 372 Representatives want to lose their jobs, bman.

#6  Barbara, unless of course, the ONE does via executive order. (Yes, I know the constitution says that Congress controls the money, but the Constitution is a living document, subject to update in order to fit today' "requirements".)

#7  The strength of the Afghanistan economy at nearly all levels is supported by a robust "illicit drug" trade. Perhaps Governor Brown should consider...... oh wait.

#8  Now all they have to do is twist the qualifications so that only illegal aliens can meet it. For example requiring them to understand 2 languages (fluent in a foreign one and can say "RACISM!" in english.)
