Afghanistan
Pakistan Seeks Taliban to Arrest JeM Jihadist Militant Group Chief
[KhaamaPress] Pakistain, in a letter to the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Afghanistan, demanded the arrest of Maulana Masood Azhar
...One of the major players in Pak terrorism. In early 1994, India incarcerated him for his activities. In 1995, foreign tourists were kidnapped in Jammu and Kashmir. The kidnappers included his release among their demands. One of the hostages managed to escape but the rest were eventually killed. In 1999, he was freed by the Indian government in exchange for passengers on hijacked Indian Airlines Flight 814 that had been diverted to Kandahar. The hijackers were led by Masood Azhar's brother, Ibrahim Athar. Once he was handed over to the hijackers, they fled to Pak territory despite the fact that Islamabad had earlier stated that any of the hijackers would be jugged at the border. The Pak government had also previously indicated that Azhar would be allowed to return home since he did not face any charges there. Shortly after his release, he made a public address to an estimated 10,000 people in Karachi, firing up the rubes against America and India...
, the leader of Jaish-e-Mohammad
...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat...
(JeM), a Jihadist Death Eater group based in Pakistain, hinting that he is in Afghanistan, Pak media reported.

According to Pak media reports, the Pak Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially sent a correspondence to the Taliban government in Afghanistan, seeking the arrest of Masood Azhar.

Masood Azhar is allegedly hiding in Afghanistan, where the Pak government believes he is in the provinces of Kunar or Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
, in eastern Afghanistan bordering Pakistain.

An arrest warrant was issued for Azhar by a Pak anti-terrorism court on grounds of raising funds and supporting a terrorist organization. Azhar is reportedly a UN-designated global terrorist.

JeM, an Islamist Jihadist Death Eater group that seeks to separate Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
from India through the use of violence, was established in Bloody Karachi

, Pakistain in 2000 by Maulana Masood Azhar.

India, meanwhile, asserts that Pakistain consistently uses Azhar, the leader of a Pakistain-based terrorist group for terrorism-related activities in Kashmir.

The Taliban, on the other hand, reject the claims of Massod Azhari seeking refuge, according to a blurb on Wednesday. The Taliban "does not allow any armed oppositions in its territory to operate against any other country," the statement reads.

Kabul Denies Masoud Azhar’s Presence in Afghanistan

[ToloNews] Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied that Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulan Masood Azhar was in Afghanistan, and said he is in Pakistan.

Pakistani media reported that Pakistan's Foreign Ministry in a letter asked the Islamic Emirate to find and arrest Azhar.

“The leader of the Jaesh-e-Mohammad group is not here in Afghanistan. This is an organization which could be in Pakistan. Anyway, he is not in Afghanistan and we have not been asked anything like this. We have heard about it in the news. Our reaction is that this is not true,” Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that such allegations can affect the relations between Kabul and Islamabad.

“We also call on all parties to refrain from such allegations lacking any proof and documentation. Such media allegations can adversely affect bilateral relations,” said Abdul Qahar Balkhi, a spokesman for MoFA.

The alleged letter said that Azhar is hiding somewhere in the eastern provinces of Nangarhar or Kunar, according to the anonymous source quoted by Pakistani media.

“It is obvious (Pakistanis) give officials statements about the individuals related to Pakistan. This is a confused (matter) and it also needs proof about whether he is present there (in Afghanistan) or not,” said Tahir Khan, a Pakistani journalist.

The Jaesh-e-Mohammad group is mainly active in Pakistan. The group claimed the responsibility for an attack in Jamu and Kashmir.

UN accuses Taliban of harassing its female staff in Afghanistan
Unexpectedly.
[israelTimes] Demanding security assurances, mission to country cites recent incident in which 3 Afghan staff members were detained for questioning; Kabul authorities reject claim

The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
mission in Afghanistan has accused the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
authorities of intimidating and harassing its female staff working in the country, including detaining three women for questioning on Monday.

Since the Taliban seized power in August last year, they have imposed harsh restrictions on girls and women to comply with their austere vision of Islam — effectively squeezing females out of public life.

"There has been an emerging pattern of harassment of Afghan UN female staff by the de facto authorities," the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said in a statement.

Citing an example, UNAMA said three Afghan women working for the organization were "singled out and temporarily detained for questioning" by armed security agents of the authorities on Monday.

It did not offer further details about the incident.

"The UN calls for an immediate end to all such acts of intimidation and harassment targeting its Afghan female staff," UNAMA said, insisting the authorities provide guarantees for the security of all UN personnel in Afghanistan.

Government front man Bilal Karimi rejected the UN’s accusation.

"The information released by UNAMA is not true... nobody were tossed into the calaboose," Karimi said in a statement to journalists.

"There was a gathering of women in Kandahar, and when the women were asked for an explanation, it was found that they were UN employees, after which they were released."

Karimi did not say what the gathering was about or how many women attended it.

During an interview with The Military Magazine, Colonel [Rtd] David Peddle, a former military service member in South Africa and the United Kingdom, with ongoing contact in Somalia, confirmed that armed nonstate actors notably Al-Shabaab have been using drones for surveillance purposes, and he believes it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing the deployment of ’clusters’ or ’swarms’ of drones in Africa, given their accessibility and relatively low cost.

In 2022, al-Shabaab media claim the group used a drone to film their daredevil 2020 attack on Manda Bay base which resulted in the deaths of US Army Spc. Henry Mayfield Jr., as well as civilian contractors Dustin Harrison and Bruce Triplett. Between 30 and 40 al-Shabaab fighters launched an early morning attack on Cooperative Security Location Manda Bay, the Military reports.

"Among new and emerging technologies, as we have heard, unmanned aerial systems [UAS] are particularly exploited by terrorist groups to facilitate attacks, conduct intelligence and develop propaganda," he said.

As UAVs become commercially available all over the world, non-state groups in Africa with bomb-making experience and technical know-how, in general, may develop adaptions similar to what Jihadist groups have done in the Middle East over the last decade.

The fresh concerns come as President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud visits the United States to attend UN General Assembly. The president is set to meet senior US government officials and the current al-Shabaab menace in the country could feature in most of the meetings.

The defense achieved the abolition of the tightening of the regime to Shamil Nurmagomedov
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court sent for review the decision to transfer Shamil Nurmagomedov, a resident of Dagestan convicted of financing terrorism, from a colony to prison. Nurmagomedov's long stay in a single cell-type room had a negative impact on his health, the lawyer said.

The  "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 28, 2021, Shamil Nurmagomedov's stay in the colony was tightened. The reason for the punishment was the publicity of information about the protest hunger strike of the convicts, said the father of the prisoner. He said that his son sewed up his mouth and, together with 24 other convicts in a colony in the Smolensk region, again went on a dry hunger strike, protesting against bullying.

Why Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to fight over Nagorno-Karabakh
[RT] A ceasefire was declared in the disputed territory 21 months ago, but is there any chance of a genuine peace?

Hayk Khalatyan, the head of the Analytical Center for Strategic Studies and Initiatives in Yerevan, and Nijat Hajiyev, a political analyst from Azerbaijan, shared their thoughts with RT on why Armenians and Azeris keep returning to arms and if there is a way out of this vicious cycle. We have combined their monologues into one article.

Hayk Khalatyan: When Soviet control loosened towards the end of the 1980s and the USSR began to disintegrate, the conflict flared up again. Armenian residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, who had been pressured and discriminated against by the Azerbaijani authorities throughout the Soviet period, decided to reunite with Armenia to avoid the fate of Nakhchivan Armenians, who had been completely pushed out of the autonomous republic by the Azerbaijani government. Those developments took place amid pogroms perpetrated against Armenians in Sumgait, Baku and other Azerbaijani cities. The issue of Karabakh’s reunification with the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic was on the agenda even before the USSR collapsed. When Soviet republics gained independence, Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians decided they wanted it too, in accordance with peoples’ fundamental right to self-determination as stipulated in the UN Charter.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad said to offer $200 per shooting attack, if video posted
[IsraelTimes] Terror groups reportedly aiming to encourage copycat incidents in an effort to ramp up violence in the West Bank

Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", and the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
terror groups are reportedly offering cash incentives for shooting attacks on Israelis, on condition that a video of the assault is published on social media.

The two groups are offering about $200 for a shooting in an effort to encourage more attacks, in particular as Israel enters its three-week High Holiday period, which begins with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, next week, Channel 12 news reported on Tuesday.

Videos must be published on the TikTok video sharing application in order to qualify for a payout, according to the report.

The West Bank has seen a spate of shootings in recent months, mostly targeting Israel Defense Forces soldiers.

An officer in the IDF was killed early Wednesday in a shootout in the northern West Bank, near the spot where a day earlier button men shot up a Defense Ministry engineering machine.

A heavily edited video circulated on Paleostinian social media claimed to show the moment of the Tuesday attack by members of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade terror group. The footage could not be independently verified to have been from the incident.

Security officials are concerned that videos of shooting attacks will create so-called "internet heroes" encouraging others to follow their example, according to Channel 12.

Alongside arrest operations in the West Bank to thwart potential attacks, security forces are also aiming to stem the flow of cash that is used to finance or encourage attacks, according to the report.

The head of IDF Military Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva, warned Tuesday that terror groups were striving to encourage copycat attacks in the West Bank.

"The holiday period is always sensitive," Haliva said at a conference at Herzliya’s Reichman University. "So I need to assume as a working assumption that there is a possibility of escalation."

Haliva stressed it was only an assumption, not a certain prediction.

The shootings came as tensions have spiked in the region in recent weeks with Israeli forces ratcheting up arrest raids and other counterterror efforts, which Paleostinians say have inflamed anger.

Israeli troops have repeatedly come under gunfire during nightly raids in the West Bank. The military launched the operation after a series of deadly attacks that killed 19 people between mid-March and the beginning of May.

More than 2,000 suspects have been detained since the beginning of the year, according to the Shin Bet security agency.

Financial offenses tied to terror funds, organized crime in Israel soared in 2021
A bit dry, but somebody will find the information useful, I imagine.
[IsraelTimes] Report by government agency highlights efforts to combat ’increasingly sophisticated’ methods of financial crime

A report by a government agency released Wednesday found a sharp increase in financial crimes connected to organized crime and terror financing in 2021 over the previous year’s figures.

According to the Israel Money Laundering and Terror Financing Prohibition Authority, which operates under the Justice Ministry, organized crime’s share of all financial crimes grew from 6.8 percent in 2020 to 19% in 2021.

Organized crime in the Arab sector has become a severe problem in recent years. The scarcity of financial services for many Arab Israelis has seen criminal organizations stepping into the vacuum and offering black market loans and other services to Arab citizens, generating funds for these groups and contributing to their growing power and increasing violence.

In addition, the report found that terror financing also grew as a percentage of financial crimes in Israel from 9% in 2020 to 14.6% in 2021.

Fraud, deceit, and counterfeiting comprised the largest part of financial crime in 2021 at 23%, while tax crimes (11.2%), bribery and corruption (8.7%) and the drug trade (4%) were the other major realms of such crime.

These crimes were carried out through a variety of measures, most prominently international financial transactions (18.7%), cash payments (12.8%) and the provision of criminal financial services (12.3%).

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Over 3 million Iranian pilgrims entered Iraq for Arbaeen: Official
[Rudaw] Over three million Iranian pilgrims have entered Iraq to attend the Arbaeen pilgrimage in the holy city of Karbala, revealed Iran’s interior minister on Tuesday, describing the visitors’ passage through the borders as "smooth".

Ahmad Vahidi made an inspection visit to the Mehran crossing in western Iran’s Ilam province, saying that the services and hospitality on the borders have been satisfactory.

"Until now, the number of Iranians entering Iraq has surpassed three million, around 1.5 million of which have returned," Iranian state media cited Vahidi as saying.

Millions of Shiite followers from around the world annually embark upon a journey towards Iraq’s holy city of Karbala, to attend the Arbaeen pilgrimage, a Shiite ritual marking the end of a 40-day mourning period for the death of the Shiite leader and grandson of the Prophet Mohammed, Imam Hussein, in 680 AD.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi arrived in Karbala on Wednesday to follow up on the security situation of the pilgrims attending the rituals, as their safety has recently been brought into question due to their large numbers.

The bodies of 10 Iranian pilgrims - six men and four women - who died in a car crash in Iraq’s central province of Babil earlier this week were returned to Ilam on Tuesday and delivered to the province’s forensic autopsy hall, according to the semi-official Fars News.

Earlier in the week, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi thanked the Iraqi people and the government for their hospitality and their efforts to ensure the safe passage of the Iranian pilgrims.

The annual pilgrimage usually sees millions of Shiite Moslem worshippers from across the world, with the vast majority being Iraqis and Iranians.

Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
predicts that between 3 to 5 million Iranian pilgrims will visit Karbala this year, Iranian Press TV reported Friday.
