Uproar after Malaysia school teacher allegedly says non-Muslim pupils can drink their urine
[STRAITSTIMES] A teacher at a high-performance cluster school here allegedly said non-Moslem pupils can drink their own urine if they did not have any water with them.
At least they didn't have to draw cartoons.
The primary school's senior assistant, who is in charge of student affairs, apparently said that non-Moslem pupils could only drink in the toilet and not in the classroom during the fasting month.
You know how sensitive Moslems are. Probably it's because they're so sensitive that nobody should take offense when they say something utterly stupid and insensitive.
However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
he reportedly went further and said that those without water could drink from the pipe and if not, consume their own urine.
After all, they're only infidels.
The teacher, believed to be in his 50s, allegedly made the remarks during an assembly on Sunday.
But he didn't draw any Mohammad cartoons, so there's no reason to get fired up.
A complaint letter detailing the incident has since gone viral over social media.
Malaysia is 60 percent Moslem, so of course they have the right to behave that way.
The remarks have not gone down well with many parents, who went to the school to demand an explanation from the school on Monday morning. At least 30 parents have lodged reports with the police and Kedah Education Department over the matter.

Businessman Jaya Sharma Gopal KR, 37, said he could not accept teachers making insensitive remarks. He initially doubted the authenticity of the letter, but believed it when two other schoolteachers corroborated the incident. "How could he ask students to drink their own urine? Is this appropriate?" he asked when met outside the school on Monday.

Lab tests confirm KFC 'fried rat' is actually chicken
[KFOR] The alleged fried rat that was found by a KFC customer is nothing more than another piece of chicken in the bucket.

Last week, a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, man named Devorise Dixon claimed that a piece of meat that came in his KFC meal was a fried rat.

"It was very nasty," he said. "I spit it out. I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rat with a tail and everything in it."

Independent lab results showed that the breaded lump was, in fact, a piece of chicken.

KFC front man Rodrigo Coronel said the man who made the false claim "wasn't cooperating with an investigation," so his attorney obtained the 'rat' and gave it to an independent lab for testing.

Coronel also alleged that Dixon lied about being told the piece of chicken was a rat.

"We did an internal investigation and talked to all employees. That statement is false," Coronel wrote. "The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand."

#2  How about asking immigrants, blacks from the Caribbean or Africa, or Indians as in Jindel's point of origin to talk about comparative racism as outsiders looking in from the world versus those insiders who have no point of context of what its like in the rest of the world. WH Chef hired by the Hildebeest found drowned while hiking in mountains
[Mark Lavin] (CNN) -- A former White House executive chef found dead in the mountains of New Mexico drowned, according to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.

An autopsy determined the nature of Walter Scheib's death was accidental, a department statement said.

Scheib, who served under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, had been absent since June 13 when he left to go for a hike alone on a mountain trail in Taos, New Mexico. He was later reported missing by a family member.

On Thursday, investigators tracked Scheib's cell phone signal to a mountain in Taos, the Department of Public Safety said.

His body was found submerged "in a mountain drainage flowing with surface runoff" about 25 yards off the Yerba Canyon hiking trail, hidden from view by vegetation and a steep decline off the trail, the statement said. There was no indication of foul play.
Said to have been found IVO of Lobo Peak, at an approx elevation of 12,115 feet.
Scheib had recently moved to the area, according to Sgt. Elizabeth Armijo, a New Mexico State Police public information officer. Investigators discovered Scheib's car Tuesday in a parking lot at the Yerba Canyon Trailhead. His body was found off the immediate trail about 1.7 miles from the base of a hiking trail.

Scheib was White House executive chef from 1994 to 2005. Scheib was personally hired by then-first lady Hillary Clinton, according to Scheib's official website.

"Hillary and I are saddened by the tragic passing of former White House executive chef Walter Scheib," the Clintons said in a statement Monday.

"Our family was grateful to have Walter with us in the White House for six years, where we and visitors from around the world loved his delicious and creative meals," the statement said. "Walter used his immense talents not only to represent the very best of American cuisine to visiting leaders, but to make a difference in people's lives across the country through his support of numerous charities. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends."

#6  If he was at 12K ft and moving fast like he normally would at lower altitudes without acclimating to the elevation for a while, you can get uncoordinated and a bit loopy (altitude sickness). Seeing as he was a 'recent' transplant and possibly not fully aware of the danger, could be possible.

Happened to me about four years ago while hiking up to the rim of Bryce Canyon (~8,900ft) even though I was drinking plenty of water. Didn't heed the warnings but recognized what was happening. Sat down for about 3/4 hour (you don't get bored just sitting there at Bryce, plenty to see). Felt much better and finished without a hitch.

Like AH says, there's plenty of hiking fatalities.

#7  We're overdue for a book called "Clinton's Curious Casualties" or similar, presenting stories of the premature mortality of the many - from Vince Foster through Chris Stevens, and (for the moment, at least) ending with Walter Sheib - who crossed paths with the Clintons, and the subsequently assumed room temperature. Looking at http://www.truthorfiction.com/clintonfriends/ it appears that you could field several softball teams' worth of "Clinton cadavers".

One killed, 11 injured as heavy rain lashes city
[DAWN] LAHORE: A woman was killed while 11 other people were maimed as rain that was heavy in eastern parts lashed Lahore on Tuesday, providing immediate relief against harsh weather conditions prevailing in the city for around a week.

Rain was accompanied by strong winds that uprooted trees and billboards.

Ishrat of Manga Mandi was killed when the roof of her house caved in during rain. Furqan and Jalal of the same family were maimed.

Liaquat, Ali, Shaukat and Faisal were maimed when the roof of their house in Baghbanpura collapsed.

In Hanjarwal, Tariq and Zafar were maimed when the wall of a house collapsed during rain.

Tanvir and two others were maimed as a signboard fell on them on Multan Road.

The Met office said rain was heavy around the airport than in the main city. It recorded 57mm of rain at the airport and 10mm at its Jail Road observatory. Low-lying areas around the airport and eastern parts of the city were inundated during and after the rain.

A healthier lifestyle will also help fight climate change, says study
[INDEPENDENT.CO.UK] Banning carbon dioxide-filled fizzy drinks from schools and cutting consumption of red meat and dairy products are not only ways to make Britannia healthier but also key methods for tackling global warming, a new study has said.
Yeah, yeah. No burgers, no colas. Boil up a nice mess of kale or kohl rabi on your solar grill. Make sure there's no fun in yer life. That's the way to stay healthy. By the way, why's life expectantly up in the civilized world?
Climate change has given people a golden opportunity to improve their health, according to the report on links between lifestyles and global warming -- which even said that phasing out asthma inhalers could help.
The people who rely on inhalers to breathe will be glad to hear that.
Politicians, scientists, schools and the NHS must work together to "nudge" people into adopting active and healthy lifestyles, according to The Lancet medical journal.
Politicians, scientists, schools spend way too much time nudging and not enough time governing, going to Mars, and turning out literate students.

Death toll from Pakistan heat wave soars past 600
[CBSNEWS] A senior Pak health official says the corpse count in the country's southern Sindh province, which has been struck by a heat wave, has reached 622.

Senior provincial health official Saeed Mangnejo said on Tuesday that he expects the number of fatalities to climb further.

Mangnejo says the corpse count is for the past three days, though most of the deaths were reported in the province's largest city, Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
.

Temperatures reaching 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit) struck Karachi over the weekend. Hourslong power outages, typical in Pakistain, also struck the city, leaving fans and air conditioners inoperable as the majority of people in this Moslem country abstain from food or water in daylight hours during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Morgues have overflowed with the dead and hospitals have struggled to aid those clinging to life.

The power outages also affected the sporadic water supply in the city, where those who can afford it rely on tankers of water being delivered to their homes.

Most of the dead are the elderly, said Seemi Jamali, a spokeswoman for Karachi's Jinnah Hospital. Thousands more are being treated for heat-related ailments, including fever and dehydration and stomach-related illnesses, she said. Mortuaries were running out of space, with local television stations showing bodies stacked inside of cold storage rooms of morgues.

This Year in Knives
The news out of the United Kingdom almost reads like a satire piece from The Onion. But as strange as it may sound to people around the world, and especially in the United States, the British bobbies' push to ban knives is no joke.

The new "Save a Life – Surrender Your Knife" program is in full swing and police are telling us that they have joined forces with an already growing trend in the United Kingdom to ban "pointy" knives.
"And how do you cut a steak with a spoon?" -- Alexander Denes, in the Second Doctor story The Enemy of the World
Lancashire Police tell us that an "amnesty" program began at the end of August, and "more than 800 knives have been handed in across the county – including swords, machetes and commando knives."
"Sorry, Sam Gamgee, you can't go poaching poor defenseless giant spiders anymore. I don't believe this BS about it threatening your friend, anyway."
"The amnesty was extended for a further week owing to its success," Lancashire Police representatives explained.

The Lancashire department explains that their "officers have now given their backing to a national initiative designed to raise awareness of knife crime and encourage the surrender of dangerous weapons."
"If they aren't completely dependent on Caesar to protect them (or not), they'll be more likely to spread the lie that Caesar is not a god."
In spite of the amnesty ending this week, police tell us that "people can continue to hand in any knife at any police station with a front counter as well being able to drop them into the designated bins."

Those bins will be in cities all over the U.K. as this call for people to turn in pointed knives continues.
"And we'd better not hear stories in the news about any thwarted crimes--that's our job."
"We are keen to raise awareness of the devastating impact of knife crime and to reduce the number of families affected so we have decided to keep the knife bins indefinitely," Detective Chief Inspector Steve Dowson said.
When knives are outlawed, only outlaws will have knives.
"While projects encouraging the surrender of knives are not a single solution to violence, they have an important role to play in inspiring communities to get behind education and preventative measures," he added. "Such campaigns show a desire to address local concerns and Lancashire Police is keen to throw our weight behind them in support.

"We've been delighted with the response so far, but our communities have told us that they want an end to knife crime and that they want to work with us to make that happen."
"Can you say 'backfire'?"
A call from the British Medical Journal was published several years ago, arguing that "many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon," according to the BBC.
"And an all-too-available means of arrogating to oneself the privilege of self-defense."
Researchers "consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen. None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed."

Again, we remind our readers outside of the UK, that this is not the sort of humor employed by Aristophanes, just another example of the government claiming they are here to protect us from ourselves.
"Ave, Caesar/Ave, Caesar/Caesar, Caesar/Ave, Ave..."
In the UK, the rate of knife violence is approximately one in every 374 people victimized, compared with a rate of one in 750 people victimized by gun violence in the United States.
A rate that is about to skyrocket.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russia to Begin Testing Three More Stealth Fighter T-50s
PARIS — United Aircraft Corp. plans to deliver three more prototypes of an advanced stealth fighter jet to the Russian military for testing as early as next year, a company official said.

The president of the Moscow-based company, Yuri Slyusar, said three more of the T-50 PAK-FA, a fifth-generation stealth fighter made by United Aircraft subsidiary Sukhoi, will be transferred to the Russian air force in late 2016 or early 2016 as part of a test program.
Stephen Green at VodkaPundit points out that the T-50 is quite the dog.
“We can say that we are in the schedule and these three additional prototypes will allow us to greatly expand the testing program and do it faster,” he said through a translator during a briefing with reporters Monday at the Paris Air Show. “What we’re speaking about in the schedule is to deliver the first batch at the end of 2016, beginning of 2017 to the customer, the ministry of defense, so the aircraft demonstrate all necessary and design characteristics.”

That will bring the total number of T-50 prototypes to eight, according to a fact sheet distributed at the event. The PAK-FA first flew in 2011 and is designed to compete against such U.S. military aircraft as the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, both of which are made by Lockheed Martin Corp.

“Compared to the previous generation fighters, the PAK-FA combines the functions of a strike aircraft and a fighter, thus offering a number of unique capabilities,” the fact sheet states. “As the fifth-generation aircraft, it has an essentially new thoroughly integrated avionics package providing superior automatic control and intelligence support.”
Great ad copy, Ivan...
While the T-50 has experienced some development challenges such as engine flameouts, the aircraft is performing well in tests, according to Slyusar.

“The aircraft demonstrates all necessary and design characteristics, so we can say that there is no risk in the program moving it forward and the aircraft meets all the specifications that were initially planned,” he said. “There’s no risk in delays whatsoever.”
No risks? The man could work for Lockheed...
The governments of Russia and India have partnered to develop an export version of the aircraft. Russian officials have trained their Indian counterparts and supplied with them data and software to work on research and development. The Indian version of the aircraft “will have some differences from the Russian prototype due to specific requirements of the Indian air force,” the fact sheet states.
Like for example, it shouldn't crash as often as a MiG-21...

PARIS — Russian aerospace giant United Aircraft Corp. plans to ink a deal this year to supply the Chinese military with two dozen Sukhoi Su-35 multi-role fighter jets, an official said.
The Su-35 is a thirty year old upgrade of the venerable Su-27 Flanker. Not exactly a lawn dart...
When asked for the status of the talks between the two countries on the sale, Yuri Slyusar, the head of the Moscow-maker of civilian and military aircraft confirmed the pending agreement this week at the Paris Air Show, held outside the city at the historic Le Bourget airfield. Sukhoi is a subsidiary of United Aircraft.

“The question should go to the federal service on military cooperation, not us,” he said during a briefing with reporters. “Our position is that we still believe that we will sign the contract to sell 24 aircraft this year.”

China recently conducted the first test flight of the J-11D, an upgraded version of the J-11B that’s based on the Russian Sukhoi Su-27. But the People’s Liberation Army Air Force still wants the twin-engine Su-35, reportedly to go up against Japan’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and India’s Su-30MKO and T-50 aircraft.

In information distributed at the show, United Aircraft said the Su-35 “4++” generation fighter is one of the company’s “top priority programs.”

Recent flight and weapons testing showed the Su-35 not only meets specifications, but also performs better than other fourth-generation fighters, including the U.S.-made F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 aircraft — even the new F-35 fifth-generation stealth fighter, according to a fact-sheet. “Thus, it is a potent rival to the F-22A aircraft,” it states.
Sure. Uh-huh. Great salesmanship there, Ivan...
The Su-35 is being outfitted with new engines, avionics and other systems from Russia’s own fifth-generation fighter program, the T-50 PAK-FA.
Which can barely fly...

#1  Actually, the Chinese only need the engines cause they have some sort of problem in that engineering technology. The rest of the plane is like all those crappy add-ons at the car dealership they insist in padding the bottom line with.

Europe
US to put military equipment in several European countries
[YNETNEWS] The US will spread about 250 tanks, armored vehicles and other military equipment across six former Soviet bloc nations to help reassure NATO allies facing threats from Russia and terrorist groups, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Tuesday.
I guess they stopped doing POMCUS (Prepositioning Of Materiel Configured in Unit Sets). The idea was to have all the materiel in place and then for the personnel of 4th Infantry Division or 3rd Armored just step right into place.
Carter's announcement, made as he stood with defense chiefs from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, comes a day after he announced that the US would have other weapons, aircraft and forces, including commandos, ready as needed for NATO's new rapid reaction force, to help Europe defend against potential Russian aggression from the east and the Islamic State and other violent extremists from the south. The defense chiefs standing with Carter all spoke bluntly about the threat they perceive from Russia, and the latest military plans provide a show of solidarity across the region and in NATO.

Loadshedding challenged in court
[DAWN] Single-member bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take up on Wednesday the petition challenging scheduled power outages during Itar, Sehri and Traveeh timings.

The petitioner Tariq Asad advocate stated that despite the tall claims of the government the electricity scheduled power outages is being carried out in different areas.

He said that during the prayers timings the light also goes in most of the mosques.

According to the petition, it is the fundamental right of the petitioner and the Moslem citizens of Pakistain, guaranteed by Article 20, to profess and practice religion, but providing uncongenial environments in order to deprive them from professing and practicing the religion is tantamount to the violation of fundamental rights.

The petition requested the court to direct the federal government to resolve this issue by simply changing the schedule of scheduled power outages.

The petition cited district magistrate/deputy commissioner and chief executive officer of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company Iesco as respondents.

#1  Possibly an over-simplification, but it appears there are at least three, no four basic consumer needs; food, water, oil/gasoline, and electricity.

Interesting how governments, employing various methods, seek to wrap their hands around these.

SC seeks details about NGOs' source of funding
[DAWN] At a time when the federal government is planning to regulate non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the matter caught the attention of the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja asked the federal and provincial governments to furnish complete details about the source of funding of the NGOs, the sectors where they spent money, mechanism to monitor their activities and the process of their registration.

"In case appropriate and complete information is not shared, the federal interior secretary as well as four chief secretaries will be summoned in person," the court warned.

The matter was taken up during the hearing of a bail petition of Haroonur Rashid who was booked for an alleged fraud in a business transaction. It was revealed during the hearing that the parties involved in the case had invested in "Baraan", a Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
-based NGO.

The court decided that it would first take up the issue relating to the activities of NGOs and then deal with the bail petition. It observed that the print media was full of stories regarding the issue of NGOs and the statements of the ministers, but in reality nothing was happening to rein in such organizations.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar had said on Monday that the government intended to re-register all local and international NGOs operating in the country within six months and they would be allowed to work only after security clearance.

Britain faces FREEZING winters as slump in solar activity threatens 'little Ice Age'
h/t Instapundit
Climate experts warn the amount of light and warmth released by the sun is nosediving to levels "not seen for centuries".

They fear a repeat of the so-called 'Maunder Minimum' which triggered Arctic winter whiteouts and led to the River Thames freezing 300 years ago.

The Met Office-led study warns although the effect will be offset by recent global warming, Britain faces years of unusually cold winters.
Just because we're freezing, doesn't mean there are no AGW?

F-35B Leaps off Ski Jump for the First Time
The F-35B jump-jet version of the Joint Strike Fighter has completed its first takeoff from a ski jump, the Pentagon announced Tuesday.

The stealthy fifth-generation fighter jet designed to fly like a plane and land like a helicopter accomplished the task Friday from a test-ramp at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, according to Joe DellaVedova, a spokesman for the Pentagon's F-35 program.

"This test is one of the milestones along the way for integrating the F-35B aboard UK and Italian aircraft carriers," he said in an e-mail.

Court Rules Against IRS in Z Street Case
[FreeBeacon] h/t Instapundit
A panel of judges on Friday denied an appeal by the IRS to stop the pro-Israel group Z Street from continuing its lawsuit against the agency for viewpoint discrimination.

While the IRS can still appeal the ruling, it moves Z Street closer to the discovery phase of the lawsuit, which the pro-Israel group believes could be damaging for the agency. The IRS has been criticized for its prior stated policy of targeting conservative groups for extra scrutiny during their applications for non-profit status.

According to Z Street, the IRS delayed its nonprofit application because the group's pro-Israel views conflicted with the positions of the Obama administration. A lawyer for Z Street said he was told by an IRS official that the agency had an "Israel Special Policy" that singled out pro-Israel organizations for special examination.

Government
Number affected by hack soars to 18M, agency head says nobody '€˜personally responsible'
[Fox News] Fox News has learned that the number of victims of a pair of massive cyberattacks on U.S. government personnel files has soared to at least 18 million -- but the head of the hacked Office of Personnel Management refuses to blame anyone in her agency.

"I don't believe anyone is personally responsible," OPM Director Katherine Archuleta said Tuesday.

The statement came during tense Capitol Hill testimony on a breach that seems to be growing wider by the day. Archuleta, who faced tough questioning at a House hearing last week, likewise faced angry senators on Tuesday before a Senate appropriations subcommittee.

Grilled on whether anyone takes responsibility, Archuleta said only the perpetrators should be blamed -- she said current failures result from decades of meager investment in security systems, but said changes are being made and in fact helped detect the latest breaches.

Still, the assurances are unlikely to ease concerns on Capitol Hill and among those who may have been affected. The web has expanded to include not just current and former government workers, but also those who may have applied for a government job.

The Office of Personnel Management initially estimated about 4 million current and former government workers were affected by one of the hacks. But Fox News is told by multiple sources that lawmakers have been informed the number will grow to at least 18 million -- and could, according to one source, soar to as high as 30 million.

During the Senate committee hearing on Tuesday, Archuleta testified that a second hack indeed exposed more individuals, though she said its "scope" and "impact" have not yet been determined.
No worries, banking and investment firms are the next targets. What a delightful way to re-baseline the monetary system, end economic inequality, and level the playing field. Investment securities, precious metals, and paper money are so old school. Join me in blaming the Chinese, Russians, Euro-weenies, or whomever.

#3  The problem is that the Chinese may not be interested in petty identity theft. They are probably looking for people they can blackmail into "cooperating".

So if you don't have anything in your history that would make you blackmailable, you probably don't have anything to worry about (yet).

#4  Seems to me if nobody else is gonna take responsibility the buck should stop on the desk in the Oval Office. But then he was busy with ObamaCare, GerbilWorming, amnesty and now selling us down the river with TPP so he had no time for the security of our country's computer systems. So she's right. No one is to blame.

But if he was the CIO of a for profit corporation he'd be outta work by now. A good CIO would demand investment in security systems and resign if he didn't get it. Better to resign in protest before the failure than afterwards.
