Afghanistan
Taliban has a Kunduz within its grasp
[WASHINGTONPOST] Taliban forces were less than four miles from this strategic northern city Monday after seizing control of two key districts over the weekend, triggering fears that they could capture their first Afghan city since U.S.-backed forces toppled the hard-line Islamist regime in late 2001.

The government in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
has dispatched reinforcements, including Afghan special forces and their U.S. advisers and trainers, to try to repel the snuffies and rescue about 75 soldiers and coppers trapped inside their district base. But as of Monday evening, the Taliban remained in control of the districts, including one separated from Kunduz city only by a wide, brown river.

"It is a critical situation," said Mohammad Omer Safi, the governor of Kunduz province.

Not since the Taliban's collapse has the population of an Afghan metropolis faced such intimidation from the insurgency. Starting this spring, the Taliban has focused its efforts on gaining territory in Kunduz and other northern provinces, straying from its traditional battlefields in the south and east. Whoever controls Kunduz, a vast, rich agricultural region that was a former Taliban bastion, controls the roads to northeastern Afghanistan as well as smuggling and trade routes into neighboring Tajikistan and the rest of Central Asia.

Chad to round up beggars, foreigners after Boko Haram attack
[Defense Web] Chad said on Friday it planned to round up beggars and some foreigners as part of a security clamp-down, days after two suicide attacks on its capital blamed on Boko Haram Islamist militants from neighbouring Nigeria.

The apparently coordinated blasts in two police offices on Monday killed 34 people and injured dozens in the largest attack of its kind in the Central African nation.

Chad's Prime Minister Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet said the detained beggars and foreigners would be held in a centre in Baga Sola, a town near Lake Chad, close to the Nigerian border. He did not go into further detail on how the round-up would improve security or the nationality of the foreigners.

Deubet also said that boating and fishing would be banned on parts of the River Chari that flows into the Lake Chad. Boko Haram militants have launched several deadly attacks around the lake, often arriving in motorised canoes from Nigeria.

39 Killed, Dozens Wounded in South Yemen Clashes
[AnNahar] At least 39 people were killed and dozens maimed in 24 hours of festivities in the southern Yemeni cities of Aden and Dhaleh, officials said Tuesday.

In Aden, Yemen's second city, seven civilians died and 94 were maimed after Shiite Houthis fired rockets on neighborhoods controlled by troops loyal to exiled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi, the city's health chief Al-Khader Laswar told AFP.

The fire destroyed several houses, according to Aden vice-governor Nayef al-Bakri.

Further north in Dhaleh, fierce festivities between Huthi fighters and loyalist troops killed 24 rebels and eight in the pro-Hadi camp, including a local commander, a local official said.

Both camps used heavy weapons after the rebels attacked pro-government positions in the northern and eastern areas of the city, the official said, adding that there were dozens of maimed on either side.

NC teen charged with plotting mass shooting to support ISIS
More details on this story from yesterday.
[THEHILL] A 19-year-old North Carolina man was charged on Monday for planning a "big attack" on behalf of Islamic bully boys.

According to federal charges, Justin Sullivan claimed to be a part of the "Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of North America," whose "doctrine is Guerilla Warfare in and out."

Sullivan allegedly planned to obtain a semi-automatic AR-15 assault rifle at a gun show this weekend and use it to kill as many as 1,000 Americans on behalf of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

He planned on carrying out "minor liquidations before the big attack for training," the government alleged in its charges, and he also wanted to send a video to ISIS.

According to the government, an undercover FBI agent made contact with Sullivan earlier this month. At the time, Sullivan called himself "a mujahid" -- meaning that he was engaged in jihad -- and indicated he converted to Islam after seeing the rise of ISIS.

During the conversations, Sullivan mentioned his plan to buy an assault rifle at a gun show and discussed plans to make silencers to help carry out his attack, the government alleged.

"I'll kill people this month," he said, according to the criminal complaint. He later allegedly said he planned to attack a bar or concert and had looked through the online yellow pages for possible attack sites.

While Sullivan's ambitions appeared to be great, the federal charges make him appear unhinged. It's unclear how much he could have accomplished on his own.

In April, his father called 911 and reported Sullivan was had poured gasoline on some "religious" items in order to burn them.

In the background of that phone call, Sullivan could be heard stating "they" were going to put him "in jail my whole life," or "They are going to kill me."

During his conversations with the undercover office this month, Sullivan also allegedly speculated about robbing banks, coating bullets with cyanide and "set[ting] off a gas bomb to finish off the rest ... its [sic] easy to make."

Instead of making his own silencer, Sullivan had the uncover FBI officer mail him one. The FBI built a silencer out of a Maglite flashlight and sent it to Sullivan last week.

He was jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
on Friday. According to the Justice Department, he acknowledged to officials that he had discussed a planned massacre but "didn't mean it."

On Monday, he was charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS as well as with transporting and possessing an unregistered silencer.

Australian 'severed head' militants reportedly killed in Iraq
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Australia is close to confirming the reported death in Iraq of two home-grown snuffies who shot to infamy last year after being photographed holding the severed heads of Syrian soldiers, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said on Tuesday.

Australia issued arrest warrants for suspected Australian Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
fighters Khaled Sharrouf and Mohammed Elomar after the images, which also showed Sharrouf's 7-year-old son holding one of the heads, caused a global outcry.

The pair is believed to have been killed in an air strike on the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, which is under the control of the Sunni murderous Moslem group. Their deaths were first reported late Monday by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

"The likelihood of verification in relation to Mr Elomar is probably imminent, however, in relation to Mr Sharrouf we're still seeking to verify the reports," Bishop told news hounds on Tuesday.

"Given the security situation in Iraq it's difficult for our authorities to gain the kind of information that would be required to verify these reports."

Australia is on high alert for attacks by radicalized Moslems or by home-grown snuffies returning from fighting in the Middle East, having raised its threat level to "high" and unleashed a series of high-profile raids in major cities.

Sharrouf, who was convicted in 2005 as part of a plot to blow up a nuclear power plant in New South Wales state, and Elomar, a one-time professional boxer, became the public faces in Australia of the potential danger posed by imported muscle.

The shocking photos helped catalyze public opinion behind a high-profile crackdown on murderous Moslem activity by Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, as a result of which the government has secured expanded but controversial security powers.

Australian citizens now face up to a decade in prison for travel to overseas areas declared off-limits and Abbott is expected to this week introduce legislation to strip citizenship from dual nationals found to have engaged in murderous Moslem acts.

He has also worked to halt the flow of funds to overseas groups. The government last year shut a money transfer business linked to Sharrouf's family on suspicions it transferred up to A$20 million ($15.45 million) to foreign murderous Moslems.

Abbott last month ruled out an amnesty for Australians seeking to quit foreign murderous Moslem groups and come home following reports that Sharrouf's wife was trying to negotiate a return for her and their young children.

US Airstrikes Kill Ali Awni al-Harzi In Iraq: Benghazi Suspect Affiliated With ISIS, Al Qaeda In Mosul, Pentagon Says
[IBTIMES] A Tunisian militant linked to the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, reportedly was killed last week while fighting alongside the Islamic State group in Mosul, Iraq. Ali Awni al-Harzi was killed June 15 in a U.S. airstrike, the Pentagon confirmed Monday.

Al-Harzi allegedly was a recruiter for the group also known as ISIS or ISIL and in charge of operations with branches across North Africa and the Middle East, military officials told the Washington Post. He is also the younger brother of Tariq bin al-Tahar bin al-Falih al-Awni al-Harzi, one of the first foreign fighters to join ISIS and who was in charge of foreign fighters and suicide bombers.

“Ali Awni al-Harzi operated closely with multiple ISIL-associated extremists throughout North Africa and the Middle East, DOD officials said in a statement released Monday. “His death degrades ISIL's ability to integrate North African jihadists into the Syrian and Iraqi fight and removes a jihadist with long ties to international terrorism.”

Ali al-Harzi was added to the State Department’s Specially Designated Global Terrorist list and the United Nations al Qaeda sanctions list in April 2015. The U.S. designation did not mention his involvement in the Benghazi attack.

Al-Harzi joined al Qaeda-linked Ansar al-Sharia in Tunisia in 2011, where he was in charge of transporting foreign fighters to Syria. He was also accused of working with al Qaeda’s Syrian branch Jabhat al-Nusra. However, it is unclear when or if Ali al-Harzi left al Qaeda and joined ISIS. Some Ansar al-Sharia militants defected to ISIS in the last two years, but the group’s core leadership remains loyal to al Qaeda.

According to the State Department, Ali al-Harzi “was a high-profile member known for recruiting volunteers, facilitating the travel of AAS-T [al Qaeda-linked Ansar al-Sharia Tunisia] fighters to Syria, and for smuggling weapons and explosives into Tunisia.”

The ISIS relationship with Tunisia goes back to 2013, much of it stemming from Ali’s brother Tariq, a Tunisian who was added to the U.S. Designated Terrorist List in 2014. He acted as a recruiter for foreign fighters in North Africa and Europe and was in charge of procuring weapons from Libya. Ali and Tariq reportedly worked together when it came to smuggling weapons from Libya.

There has been no evidence linking Tariq al-Harzi to the attacks in Benghazi.

Since last week, rumors have been circulating on social media accounts affiliated with militant groups that Tariq al-Harzi, also known as Abu Omar al-Tunisie, had been killed in Tikrit, Iraq. However, this has not been confirmed.

Riots, rocks and terror mark Ramadan escalation
From a few days ago, but giving a picture of the current situation.
[Ynet] Several security events in the West Bank and East Jerusalem over 48 hours complete a picture of increasing tensions since the beginning of Ramadan.

Just hours after a stabbing attack at Jerusalem's Damascus Gate in the Old City seriously maimed an Israel border policeman on Sunday, riots erupted on the scene where dozens of Paleostinians threw rocks at Israeli forces in the area, continuing an apparent escalation in tensions in Jerusalem and the West Bank since the beginning of Ramadan on Thursday.

The riot was the second in less than 48 hours to take place at Damascus Gate where Border Police responded with riot control measures to disperse the crowd.

At the same time, Molotov cocktails and rocks were hurled at a bus near Geva Binyamin in the West Bank. The 45-year-old bus driver was lightly maimed by broken glass and a few people were treated for shock.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
the two incidents weren't the only breaches of security on Sunday night. A Molotov cocktail was also thrown at police forces near the Ma'ale Ze'etim in East Jerusalem where a police car suffered damage and police began searching for suspects in the act.

Yet another Molotov cocktail was thrown at police near the cliffs of Isawiya next to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. No one was harmed and no damage was reported in the last incident.

One of the Molotov cocktails was thrown at the home of Jerusalem City Council Member Ariyah King in Ma'ale Ze'etim. King said after the attack, "The Police continue to abandon me and my neighbors. Terrorists attacked our home with four Molotov cocktails and dozens of rocks; pictures show how close my house was to being set on fire."

Sunday's incidents were only the latest in a recent bout of attacks that have occurred since the beginning of Ramadan.

Danny Gonen (25), a resident of Lod, was officially proclaimed dead at Tel HaShomer Hospital on Friday after being critically maimed in a shooting attack along a dirt road near the Israeli settlement of Dolev in the West Bank.

In light of the escalation over the last few days, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon decided Sunday to cancel 500 exit permits that granted Paleostinians the ability to depart through Ben Gurion airport during the month of Ramadan.

IAF strikes in Gaza after rocket explodes in Israel
[Ynet] Air force hits rocket launcher in northern Gazoo Strip; projectile lands in open area in southern Israel; Salafist group claims responsibility.

The Israeli Air Force struck a target in the northern Gazoo Strip from which a rocket was launched earlier Tuesday night.

group, the "Omar Brigades," grabbed credit.

Yisrael Beytenu Chairman MK Avigdor Lieberman said after the incident that "He who is willing to absorb 'trickles' will ultimately get torrential rain.

"We cannot accept this situation. No government has a right to exist if it is willing to accept a situation in which less than a year after a military operation that cost us dearly in soldiers' lives and disruption of national life for two months, a situation is returning where residents of the south must again run to shelters. This situation is intolerable, unacceptable, and we must put an end to it."

"The war between them inside the Strip does not interest us... It should be made absolutely clear to the other side that we are not willing to take either a flotilla or fire from Gazoo," said Yair Farjun, chairman of Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, referring to the announcement by MK Bassel Ghattas that he would join a flotilla that he says is meant to provide humanitarian aid to Gazoo.

A number of rockets were fired at Israel from Gazoo in the last few weeks. On June 11, a siren sounded in the Ashkelon area, also around 10 PM. The IDF later announced that the siren was prompted by a rocket launch from Gazoo that landed inside the Strip.

Around 9:30 PM on June 6, a rocket went kaboom! in an open area in Ashkelon, after which the AIF struck terror infrastructure in the northern Gazoo Strip.

Gazoo has recently seen attempts by Salafists

to challenge Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, rule and fire rockets despite the existing ceasefire. A senior Salafist leader in Gazoo said his people could not tolerate the reality of Hamas persecuting, arresting, and killing them.

Wounded Syrian killed as Druze attack Israeli ambulance: police
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] A maimed Syrian was killed on Monday when Israeli Druze attacked an Israeli military ambulance taking him to hospital for treatment, police said.

"A crowd attacked an ambulance with stones near Majdal Shams on the Golan Heights," that was transporting two maimed Syrians, a police statement said, adding that one of the injured "died after the attack".

It said that the second Syrian was in a serious condition, and that two soldiers who were also inside the vehicle had been lightly maimed.

The statement did not identify the Syrians or give further details about their injuries before the attack.

Public radio earlier said that around 200 Druze from Majdal Shams had pelted the ambulance with stones, forcing it to stop, and dragged the maimed Syrians from the vehicle.

The attack came amid growing concern for the fate of Syria's Druze minority, traditional allies of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...
, who are surrounded by rebels in the country's more than four-year civil war.

Tensions have flared in Druze areas of northern Israel and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights after rebels surrounded a government-held Druze village on the Syrian side last week.

Israel's Druze are concerned for the fate of their brethren in Syria, and the Israeli army has pledged to protect any refugees who flee towards the Jewish state.

On June 10, at least 20 Druze were killed in an unprecedented shoot-out with Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Nusra Front in northwestern Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Monday's attack came hours after another group of Druze also blocked and threw stones at an army vehicle they believed was transferring maimed Syrian rebels for treatment, police said.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said the first incident happened in the northern Israeli town of Horfish and that the Druze tried to check the identities of those inside the ambulance.

The Druze threw stones at the vehicle as it tried to drive off, she said, adding that one Druze was moderately injured in the incident.

Israel shares a ceasefire line with Syria on the Golan Heights, and has let hundreds of maimed Syrians into the country for medical treatment.

Officials say there are 110,000 Druze in northern Israel, and another 20,000 in the Israeli-held Golan.

Israel seized 1,200 square kilometres (460 square miles) of the Golan Heights in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognised by the international community.

BIFF gunmen kill two Philippine soldiers
[Gulf Today] The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters continued their hit-and-run attacks against Philippine security forces, killing two soldiers on their way to help repair a damaged school building in Maguindanao province.

Regional spokesperson Captain Jo-Ann Petinglay said the two soldiers were aboard a motorcycle on their way to join a military team assigned to repair a public school building in the town of Datu Unsay on Monday when the two armed suspects also riding in tandem on a motorcycle fired at them, killing them on the spot.

Petinglay denounced the killing, mentioning that the soldiers were unarmed and were wearing athletic uniforms when they were slain. She also said the killers fled with the victims' motorcycle.

Petinglay said, "It is very lamentable that the two unarmed soldiers working for peace were killed in a treacherous way by the BIFF. They don’t even care for the future of the children in the area whom the soldiers were serving."

Two soldiers killed by Abu Sayyaf bombs
[Inquirer] Two Philippine soldiers were killed and three others were injured in separate roadside bomb attacks believed to be launched by the Abu Sayyaf in Basilan on Tuesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Harold Cabunoc said an improvised explosive device was detonated as soldiers were on patrol in Sumisip town at about 8:30 a.m. Two soldiers were killed and one was injured in that incident.

In Ungkaya Pukan town, a bomb injured an infantryman at about 10a.m. A gun battle that broke out between soldiers and several militants left another soldier wounded.

Cabunoc could not say if the attacks were related to the arrest of one Abu Sayyaf member early in the day.

Abu Sayyaf militant Abdullah, alias Al Khobar, was arrested by security forces in Lantawan at around 1 a.m.

Kurds capture ISIS base north of Syria's Raqqa
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Activists say Kurdish fighters and their allies have captured an ISIS military base in northern Syria, AP reported.

The Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based activist group, and Kurdish activist Mustafa Bali said Kurdish fighters from the People's Protection Units, or YPG, captured the base known as Brigade 93 Monday night.

Bali and the Observatory said Tuesday that YPG fighters and their allies have entered parts of the nearby town of Ein Eissa, the last major residential area north of the myrmidons' de facto capital of Raqqa.

Last week, YPG fighters and allied rebel factions captured the Syrian town of Tal Abyad on the Turkish border, in a major setback for ISIS.

In Syria, five of the strikes were staged near the Turkish border town of Tel Abyad, where Kurdish fighters have cut off a key Islamic State supply route.

Five units of Islamic State fighters, three of the murderous Moslems' fighting positions and one vehicle there were struck, according to the statement released on Monday. Two other strikes hit near Al Hasaka and Aleppo, it added.

ISIS drowns, decapitates 'spies' in brutal new video
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] An Islamic State

They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group video released Tuesday showed the turbans murdering 16 men by drowning them in a cage, decapitating them with explosives and firing a rocket-propelled grenade into a car.

The video, apparently shot in Iraq's Nineveh province, was one of the most brutal yet in a series released by the turbans of killings of opponents in areas under ISIS control.

ISIS has executed hundreds of people by gunfire, dozens by beheading, stoned some to death, thrown others from buildings and burned a captured Jordanian pilot alive.

Videos of the killings are a key propaganda tool of the murderous Moslems, used to shock and terrify their enemies as well as to draw in new recruits seeking the most brutal and active murderous Moslem group.

The men killed in the latest video are said to be "spies," with some of them making recorded "confessions."

First, the turbans lead four men to a car and close the doors, after which one fires a rocket-propelled grenade under the vehicle, setting it alight.

A murderous Moslem is later shown locking five men inside a metal cage, which is then lifted by a crane and submerged in what appears to be a dirty swimming pool.

Two cameras affixed to the outside of the cage show the men's deaths in the murky water.

The last killings show a murderous Moslem looping blue detonating cord around the necks of seven kneeling men, after which the explosives are set off and some of the men are decapitated.

ISIS spearheaded an offensive last June that overran large areas north and west of Baghdad, and also holds significant territory in neighboring Syria.

Its military gains and atrocities drew a U.S.-led coalition of countries to launch an air campaign against it last year, as well as to provide training and arms to Iraqi forces.

June 15, according to the Pentagon.

Ali Awni al-Harzi was a key battlefield commander for the Islamic State, reports ABC News. The Tunisian national helped foreigner fighters join the terror group, moving them across the Turkish border into Syria.

Harzi was a "person of interest" in the 2012 attack on the U.S. Consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi, killing U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, according to the Pentagon.

He was one of the first publicly-named suspects in the raid. Reporter Eli Lake, then of The Daily Beast, said U.S. officials were alerted to Harzi's involvement after he posted about the attack on social media after it began.

A month later, Harzi was jugged

said Tunisian officials "had 'assured' the United States that Harzi was 'under the monitoring of the court,'" reports Thomas Joscelyn.

The Department of State designated Harzi as a terrorist in April.
