#1  From traveling in Mexico or Europe, tips in regards to avoiding danger.

The following suggestions are based on information provided by the U.S. Department of State to help travelers abroad minimize their visibility and increase their awareness in the age of terrorism. While no plan is foolproof, these precautions may provide some degree of protection and can serve as practical and psychological deterrents to would-be terrorists. When traveling by air:

Schedule non-stop flights, or at least avoid flights that stop in high-risk locales.
Wear clothing that doesn't stand out. Dress for invisibility.
Avoid adding distinctive markings to your luggage, even though this is a recommended way to discourage luggage theft. Bright markings on your luggage make you more visible and mark you as a tourist at a time when it's better to avoid being noticed.
After checking in for your flight, go immediately to the secured areas of the airport.
When you arrive at a destination, get your baggage and leave the airport as quickly as possible.
Scan your surroundings whenever in an airport, looking for abandoned briefcases, packages or suspicious items, and report them to airport authorities. Then leave immediately.

General rules for personal security

If possible, travel with others. There is more safety in numbers.
Avoid places that are popular with Western travelers, who are obvious targets for terrorism. Everywhere you go, have a plan, so you can act automatically in case of a bomb or terrorist attack.
Memorize the locations and phone numbers of possible safe places to go, such as hospitals, hotels, and police stations.
Watch for suspicious activity and report it to the local police or the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
Be careful with strangers--any stranger, for example, even taxi drivers.
Don't tell a stranger too many details about your life or your plans.
When in conversation with someone you do trust, be aware of people around you who may be listening.
If you see something or someone suspicious, report it to the police and the nearest U.S. Embassy or consulate immediately.
Select your own taxi, and vary the place for doing that. Never get into a vehicle that is not clearly marked as a taxi. When you get in, take the opportunity to study the driver's face and compare it with the photo on the license displayed in the car.

Security inside your hotel

If someone knocks at your hotel room door, never open it if you don't know who it is and can verify their identity.
Arrange meetings with strangers in the public areas of your hotel, never in your room.
If a package is delivered that you were not expecting, refuse it.
Before driving, check your car to make sure it is in good condition and that nothing looks obviously changed.
When traffic slows, lock your doors and close the windows of the car.

If an attack does occur
Lie flat on the floor and behind any solid object that might protect you from gunfire. Stay put until the danger passes. If you have to move, do it on your stomach. When it's safe to get up, don’t stop for any reason, even to help police or rescue personnel. Just leave the area right away.

Afghanistan
Ghor Victims Killed by Freed Taliban Militants
[Tolo News] Residents and activists from around Ghor province gathered in the capital of Ferozkhoh on Saturday to voice criticism of the government for releasing Talibs who they claim were involved in the mass killing of 16 civilians in Ghor earlier this week.

The Ghor Police Chief has said that the group of gunnies that brutally shot down the civilians was led by Qari Rahmatullah and Mullah Farooq, who were both previously released from the prison of Ghor province. Since they were freed, Ghor police claim the two men have formed a band of over 2,000 gunnies that are disrupting security in the province.

"Those who have killed our sisters, our brothers and our people, they were released from the Ghor prison, and now they are doing these acts, killing our people," said Police Chief General Fahim Qayem.

15 Afghan Civilians Killed in Ghor
[Tolo News] At least 15 Afghan civilians, including three women and a child, were killed when "criminals linked to foreign intelligence" stopped three passenger vans early Friday morning and killed each one-by-one in the remote province of Ghor, locals officials said.

The 15 killed were separated by the gunnies after their national ID cards were checked, Provincial Governor Sayed Anwar Rahmati told TOLOnews.

An adviser to the provincial governor was also among those killed, said Rahmati.

Local officials said the victims of the shootout belonged to the Hazara ethnic minority.

"Four of them were members of one family," said Governor Rahmati. "A groom and his bride and the groom's mother and sister were brutally killed."

Local officials said the victims of the shootout belonged to the Hazara ethnic minority.
The three vans — two heading to the capital of Kabul and one on its way from Kabul to Cheghcheran — were randomly stopped at one point in the isolated Lal and Sarjungal district.

Ghor Police Chief Gen. Fahim Qayem said an investigation has begun to find out why selected passengers were killed.

However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
the suspected Taliban Lion of Islams, blamed for most of the civilian causalities, have not yet commented about the incident.

Afghanistan's Caped President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai

He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. Two Tunisian Soldiers Killed by 'Terrorists'
[An Nahar] Two Tunisian soldiers were killed and four maimed on Saturday in a shootout with "terrorists" several kilometers (miles) from the border with Algeria, the defense ministry told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"There was an exchange of fire between a terrorist group and a military patrol at Ghar al-Tine, four kilometers from the Tunisian-Algerian border. Two of our soldiers were martyred and four were maimed," ministry front man Lamjed Hamami said.

He added that the operation was still under way and that the toll was provisional. Hamami was unable to say who the attackers were.

On July 16, suspected jihadists attacked twin army posts in the remote Mount Chaambi region near the Algerian border, killing 15 soldiers in the worst attack in the Tunisian army's history.

Another 18 soldiers were maimed and one attacker was killed.

The assailants took the soldiers by surprise as they were breaking their day-long Ramadan fast, with authorities saying up to 60 "terrorists" -- a reference to al-Qaeda-linked jihadists -- took part in the attack with machineguns, rocket launchers and grenades.

The attack came as the government presses a crackdown on radical Islamists, sparking protests in several cities by residents fed up with violence linked to jihadists.

Egypt Charges 20 For Terrorist Attacks In Sinai
[Ynet] Egypt's chief prosecutor charged 20 suspected hard boyz Saturday with carrying terrorist attacks that killed seven people and maimed more than 100, amid new festivities between soldiers and bully boyz in the restive Sinai Peninsula.

The statement released by Hisham Barakat's office said those charged belonged to a terror group called Ajnad Misr, which started its attacks after the July ouster of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi. The group's name means "Soldiers of Egypt" in Arabic.

The statement said the suspected hard boyz planted explosives around cop shoppes and security checkpoints. It said 14 suspected members are in jug and six others are on the run.

Ajnad Misr has grabbed credit for a number of attacks since November, including kabooms that took place outside a presidential palace.

Meanwhile Saturday, soldiers killed 12 suspected hard boyz and tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
11 others in the northern Sinai, according to a statement on the official Facebook page of military front man Brig. Gen. Mohammed Samir.

During festivities, krazed killer-fired rockets struck civilian homes in the town of Sheikh Zuwayed, killing seven people, including four children, and wounding 14, security officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief news hounds.

Assaults mainly targeting security forces have spiked in the restive Sinai Peninsula and elsewhere since Morsi's ouster. The government designated Morsi's Moslem Brüderbund a terrorist group, blaming them and their Islamist allies of orchestrating the violence to destabilize the country. The Brotherhood has denied using violence.

The military has responded with a wide-scale offensive to quash the insurgency.

Mortar attack kills four children in Egypt's Sinai
[Iran Press TV] At least four children have been killed when a mortar round apparently fired by murderous Moslems struck a northern town in Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula, official sources say.

According to Egyptian security officials, the mortar attack hit a home in the Sinai town of el-Joura on Saturday, killing four kids, who were all under the age of 15, and injuring four other people.

Some security sources say the assault had likely been carried out by the murderous Moslems operating in the volatile peninsula. An investigation is reportedly underway into the fatal incident.

The town is believed to be a stronghold of the murderous Moslems who have killed scores of Egyptian police and army soldiers over the past year.

On Friday, unknown assailants shot two senior police officials dead in the northern Sinai town of el-Arish a day after the Egyptian army announced that it had killed three gunnies in the area.

'Freewheeling Militia Violence' Forced US to Evacuate Embassy in Libya, Kerry Says
[ABCNEWS.GO] The U.S. State Department was forced to suspend operations at its embassy in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, Libya, because of "freewheeling militia violence" there, Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
said today.

Kerry, who spoke to news hounds before a meeting with the Turkish and Qatari foreign ministers about Gazoo, made the comments after the State Department announced it evacuated its staff in Tripoli.

He blamed the "freewheeling militia violence," caused by jihadist groups that have only grown in power since the ouster of former president Muammar Qadaffy
...a reminder that a single man with an idea can change an entire nation, usually for the worse...
, for creating an environment in which the diplomatic activities at the Libya embassy had to be suspended.

"A lot of the violence is around our embassy but not on the embassy, but nevertheless it presents a very real risk to our personnel," Kerry said.

As a result, embassy personnel were transported in armored vehicles to Tunisia and dispersed throughout the region from there, a U.S. official told ABC News. They were escorted by at least one drone, two F-16 fighter jets and two MV-22 Osprey helicopters.
Before leaving, staff members destroyed documents at the embassy, said State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf.

"Classified holdings were destroyed in accordance with procedures. Some classified equipment not normally destroyed was taken out," she said.

Kerry insisted the special envoy to the region, David Satterfield, would continue to engage with his British counterpart, and that the U.S. embassy personnel would return as soon as the situation stabilized.

But he stressed the need for Libyans to engage in a peaceful political process in order to permanently change the tide of violence in the violence-ridden nation.

"We're very, very hopeful that those people will recognize that the current course of violence will only bring chaos and possibly a return of difficulties," Kerry said.

Israeli UAV Kills Three Sinai Terrorists
[Ynet] IDF targets 3 hard boyz trying to fire rockets at southern Israel, kills relative of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis leader.

Foreign media outlets, including the Egyptian newspaper Al Watan, have released a statement by the holy warrior Salafi organization Ansar Bait al-Maqdis which claims an Israeli UAV killed three of its members Wednesday in the northern Sinai Peninsula.

According to the report, one of those killed was Khaled el-Manaei, a relative of the terror group's leader Shadi el-Manei. According to the report, the three were killed after attempting to fire rockets towards Israel. Thursday, the day after the alleged operation, Iron Dome intercepted a rocket fired on Eilat.

Eyewitnesses from a village in the northern Gazoo Strip told Al Watan that the UAV destroyed a vehicle with three gunnies near a mosque at the heart of the village. The same eyewitnesses claimed that the leader of Ansar Bait al-Maqdis, Shadi el-Manaei, had ordered the three holy warriors to shoot Grad rockets
...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km....
towards Israel.

The group even released a video during the operation documenting its rocket fire on communities in southern Israel.

According to Al Watan, hard boyz attempted to fire three Grad rockets, but an Israeli UAV that was patrolling the border region identified the terrorists' movement. They tried to escape in a vehicle, but were hit with missiles from the UAV. Two kabooms were heard, according to the report.

An Egyptian Defence Ministry source denied reports that the three Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis
...Supporters of Jerusalem, the current pen name of al-Qaeda in the Sinai Peninsula...
fighters had been killed by an Israeli drone. The Israeli military declined to comment.

An earlier statement from the armed forces front man said that the Egyptian army killed three hard boyz in their car during a raid on Wednesday.

"There has been no violation of Egyptian airspace by any kind of aircraft, whether Israeli or others," the source said.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis made the announcement on Friday morning on a website on which it regularly posts its statements.

"A number of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis Jihadists were martyred as their car was hit by an Israeli drone on Wednesday evening," the group said in the statement, listing three.

The Lion of Islams' statement did not elaborate on how they knew they had been targeted by a drone, which often attack from high altitude and use advanced munitions that make them almost invisible and inaudible.

Among the objectives of Sinai jihadis is undermining the 1979 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, under which the Sinai was demilitarized. Israel says its air force does not operate over Egypt.

The United States designated the group as a terrorist organization in April, saying it had launched rockets at Israel's southern city of Eilat and attacked Israeli border guards. It has also targeted Egyptian and foreign tourists and Israel, the department said.

The Sinai-based group, formed in the wake of the 2011 uprisings in Egypt, has grabbed credit for several high-profile attacks, including an liquidation attempt on Egypt's interior minister last year

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, the pilot and the copilot had both hit the silk.
Jack! Cynthia exclaimed. Do you know how to drive one of these things?
Jack wiped some of the blood from his knuckles. No, he said. Do you?...

news agencies reported that two high-ranking Egyptian police and army officers were rubbed out by unknown assailants on Friday in the Sinai region near the border with Israel, army and security sources said.

Both had the rank of brigadier general and were rubbed out in the city of Sheikh Zuwaid, the sources told Rooters.

Security forces are struggling to quell an Islamist insurgency that has killed scores of soldiers and coppers in the peninsula, which borders Israel and the Paleostinian Gazoo Strip.

The attacks surged after the military overthrew Islamist president Mohammed Mursi last year and the hard boyz extended their reach to the Egyptian mainland with a series of bombings.

Nigerian soldiers kill 25 anti-Israel protesters on Quds Day
[Iran Press TV] Twenty-five demonstrators, including the sons of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, have been bumped off during an anti-Israeli rally held to mark International Quds Day in an ancient city of the African country, Press TV has learned.

The deaths occurred on Friday during anti-Israel rally, as Nigerians erupted into the streets to denounce Tel Aviv's deadly military assault on Gazoo.

The Quds Day rally in the city of Zaria in Kaduna State turned violent when armed soldiers opened fire on protesters, killing 25 demonstrators and arresting 12 others.

Among those killed was 18-year-old Syed Mahmud Ibrahim Zakzaky, a son of Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky,
...former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Nigeria, he converted to Shi'ism after a visit to Iran, and now is a fiery Iranian sockpuppet...
the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria,
...the visible expression of Iran's Khomeinist effort. Like the Muslim Brotherhood, spinoff groups are much more violent. One of the spinoffs from the IMN is currently known as Boko Haram...
which had called for the rally. He is a critic of political corruption and Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
Reports say another son of the Mohammedan leader was injured and two others were incarcerated
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
. Later, military forces reportedly killed all detainees, including the two sons of Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky, before handing over their bodies to Ahmadu Bello University (Abu) teaching hospital. As a result of the crackdown, al-Zakzaky lost three of his sons while another one was among those injured by government forces.

Meanwhile,
...back at the abandoned silver mine, the water was up to Jack's neck and still rising. And then he smelled the smoke...
government forces attacked a mosque in Nigeria on Saturday, killing three people.

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Theocratic Republic, designated the last Friday of the lunar month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, during which Mohammedans across the world hold rallies to show their solidarity with Paleostinians.

This year's anti-Israel rallies are being held as Israeli warplanes and tanks have been pounding numerous sites inside the Gazoo Strip. More than 985 people have so far been killed and over 6,000 others maimed since the Israeli military first launched its offensive on the Paleostinian enclave on July 8.

Boko Haram Takfiris kill 12 in northeastern Nigeria

s have executed a dozen people after they stormed a village in a remote part of Nigeria's northeastern Borno State, local sources say.

Locals said on Saturday that holy warriors from the Boko Haram Takfiri group attacked the village of Garubula in Biu district late on Wednesday and shot 12 people dead after dragging them out of their homes.

"They killed 12 people, including the village chief whom they shot in the head," said a resident.

Early on Saturday, a group of attackers also raided the Sigal village in Nigeria's northeastern Borno State and kidnapped a police officer from his house, according to local sources.

"We have no idea where they are holding him and we fear for his life," said one the residents in Sigal.
In a similar act of violence on Friday, dozens of Boko Haram gunnies reportedly attacked the town of Rann in Borno state, hurling explosives into a cop shoppe and setting it alight. They also bombed a local administrative building and a government lodge in the area.

Last Wednesday, more than 80 people were killed in two separate kabooms in the Nigerian northwestern city of Kaduna. Such attacks are usually blamed on Boko Haram bully boys.

The notorious group has repeatedly targeted civilians, mostly in the remote state of Borno, killing more than 2,000 civilians since January.

Arabia
British Teacher Kidnapped in Yemen is Released
[An Nahar] A British teacher kidnapped in Yemen earlier this year was released safely on Saturday following negotiations by the government in Sanaa, both countries said.

"Mike Harvey, who had been held in Yemen since February, has been released today," a Foreign Office front man in London told Agence La Belle France Presse.

"He has been released safely and he is being supported by staff at the British embassy and they will work to reunite him with his family very soon."

A Yemeni official said earlier the British hostage, whom he did not name, had been freed in a joint security operation with rustics in the Al-Juf area northeast of Sanaa.

"He is in good health and on his way to Sanaa," the official added.

The British front man said the release was secured by "the government of Yemen who engaged with tribal intermediaries, which is standard practice".

"We're grateful to the government of Yemen for all their support," he added.

On February 13, gunnies kidnapped the teacher in Sanaa, in the second kidnapping in the capital that month of a Briton.

A security official said the unidentified gunnies seized him as he returned from work.

On February 3, witnesses and oil industry sources said a Briton working in the sector had been kidnapped by gunnies in Sanaa.

"Gunmen in a car kidnapped the British man at around 9:00 am (0600 GMT) near a grocery store in Hada," a tightly patrolled district in central Sanaa, an official told Agence La Belle France Presse at the time.

Witnesses said the kidnappers struck their victim on the head with the butt of a rifle, before driving him off.

Effects of Mexican Violence Again Spill into U.S.
[SharylAttkisson.com]
A taste:
On Wednesday, three heavily-armed Mexican coppers from the city of Juarez improperly crossed into the U.S., apparently in pursuit of Mexican cop killers.

Last month, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) revealed Department of Homeland Security statistics showing that Mexican military and law enforcement officials had made 300 known unauthorized border incursions into the U.S. since 2004.

Norway Says Islamist Militants Planning Attack In West Have Left Syria
[Ynet] A group of Lion of Islam Islamists planning to carry out attacks in the West is on its way from Syria, possibly heading towards Norway, police said on Friday.

Norwegian armed police were deployed for a second day at high-risk locations including airports and train stations, after the police's

intelligence unit said on Thursday it received credible information that an attack might take place in the country in coming days.

"We have received information that a group of fighters have left Syria with the aim of carrying out terror attack in the West and Norway was specifically mentioned among their targets," Jon Fitje Hoffmann, the chief analyst for the Police Security Service told TV2 in an interview on Friday.

#2  Beyond savages.

Savages do it out of ignorance.

These guys are doing it because they have some twisted interpretation that all representations of the human are forbidden by the Quran...

This is the future of the Middle East if they don't quit nibbling dates and lounging in the coffee shops. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran have enough military muscle to put a stop to all of this any time they want...you tell me why they are sitting on their hands.

While I am disgusted with our foreign policy, this is as much a regional problem as any and in some ways the regional powers should be doing something.

Anything we do there will be intervention and we'll have both sides shooting at us.

#3  bill,

not such a twisted interpretation
the quran clearly is negative on images (21:51-21:53) and later hadiths are more detailed on this so that use of images in mosques is forbidden in all moslem sects

the issue of concern to ISIS (and some others) is non image structures that are themselves considered holy (from the shrines blown up recently to various sites in Mecca up and including the Kaaba stone). In this regard, ISIS and some other sects are not in the majority - but doesn't mean they are 'twisted'
sunnis are particularly strict on this; shia less so

ISIS Leader to Obama: "We are coming for you."
The radical Islamist group terrorizing Iraq and ousting Christians there has threatened President Barack Obama, U.S. sources revealed.

"We're coming for you, Barack Obama," the group threatened, according to Elissa Slotkin, acting principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy, in a story published by The Hill.

The group's insurgence inside the country has drawn the attention of U.S. officials who have called it "worse than al-Qaida."

"It is al-Qaida in its doctrine, ambition and, increasingly, in its threat to U.S. interests," Brett McGurk, a deputy assistant secretary of state, said in testimony during a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing Wednesday.

McGurk was blunt in outlining the group's intent, calling it "no longer a terrorist organization. It is a full-blown army," the Hill reported.

Former Homeland Security head Tom Ridge also signaled the strength of the group and its capacity to create terror, adding that ISIS's threats had been on the intelligence community's radar for a long time with the ability to enter the United States unnoticed.

Vote Now: Do You Approve Or Disapprove of President Obama's Job Performance?

"TheyÂ’ve got a lot of fighters who are from European countries that are visa waiver countries, which means all they have to do is shave their beards and look like normal, responsible civilians and walk into the United States of America without a visa," Ridge said. "ItÂ’s a real challenge for our intelligence community to identify them and get their names on a watch list."

Known as ISIL or ISIS, short for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the group has powered throughout Iraq in recent weeks, commandeering the police force and entering homes where residents have gone missing at the hands of marauding posses. Whole towns are under siege by ISIS forces, and the group has suggested it will overtake Baghdad, a threat that led Obama to deploy about 750 troops to the war-torn nation, The Washington Times reported.

Christians are under particular assault by the Sunni terrorists, being told to convert or die, Al Jazeera reported. They have also been pressured to pay a tax, and those who have fled have been robbed at checkpoints by insurgents.

"There is not a single Christian family left in Mosul," Bashar Nasih Behnam, 52, told The Guardian.

I think they see the job as destroying the tunnel complex and Gaza war matériel. Any deaths that happen down in the tunnels won't become propaganda fodder, because Hamas can't admit to the international media that they're down there, and anyway, all the big shots have live in Gaza Underneath for years. Those in Gaza Above are mere human shields, intended to die in horrific numbers to exert pressure on tender Israeli and world consciences.

Report: Hamas, North Korea Sign Secret Arms Deal
[Ynet] Unconfirmed report says Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, working to sign arms, communication equipment deal with Pyongyang in bid to refill now depleted missile arsenal, increase its ability to coordinate attacks against IDF.

Hamas is attempting to negotiate a new arms deal with North Korea, the Telegraph reported Saturday.

According to the report, that has not been confirmed, the two sides are working to reach a deal for missiles and communications equipment that will allow the Gazoo terror group to maintain its offensive against Israel.

Quoting an unnamed Western security officials, the report said the deal between Hamas and North Korea is valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars and is being brokered by a Lebanese-based trading company that has ties with Hamas' Beirut office.
Perhaps that's the brotherly aid and support that Hizb'allah spokesman was talking about.
The report by the UK paper even went on to claim Hamas is now waiting for North Kora to begin shipping the arms and extra supplies to Gazoo officials after the terror group made an initial cash down payment.

Quoting the security source, the report by the Telegraph's defense editor Con Coughlin said "Hamas is looking for ways to replenish its stocks of missiles because of the large numbers it has fired at Israel in recent weeks.

"North Korea is an obvious place to seek supplies because Pyongyang already has close ties with a number of krazed killer Islamist groups in the Middle East."

Israel has at times targeted arms shipments headed towards Gazoo, most recently stopping the Klos-C, a fat merchantman laden with Iranian missiles en route to Gazoo through the Red Sea. At times, according to foreign reports, Israel has even targeted arms shipments and warehouses in Sudan suspected of housing arms for Hamas.

According to the Telegraph, with the use of intermediaries based in Leb, Hamas is said to working hard to sign a new arms agreement with Pyongyang so as to provide it with what the report said would be hundreds of missiles together with communications equipment that will allow Hamas to improve its fighters ability to coordinate against the IDF.

In 2010, Rooters reported that a large arms shipment from the North Korea was captured en route to Iran where it was supposed to reach Hamas and Hezbollah.

At the time, more than 35 tones of arms including rockets and rocket-propelled grenades were seized from a cargo plane after it made an emergency landing at a Bangkok airport in December. Thai authorities said the plane came from North Korea.
From the Telegraph article:
Like other Islamist terror groups in the region such as Hizbollah, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, has forged close links with North Korea, which is keen to support groups that are opposed to Western interests in the region.

Israeli military commanders supervising operations against Gazoo believe North Korean experts have given Hamas advice on building the extensive network of tunnels in Gazoo that has enabled fighters to move weapons without detection by Israeli drones, which maintain a constant monitoring operation over Gazoo.

The North Koreans have one of the world’s most sophisticated network of tunnels running beneath the demilitarised zone with South Korea, and Israeli commanders believe Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, has used this expertise to improve their own tunnel network.

Gaza city district empty of residents
[Iran Press TV] Al-Shejaeia neighborhood, which was once a densely-populated part of Gazoo city, has turned into a "ghost town", following Israel's brutal attacks against the blockaded Gazoo Strip, Press TV reports.

On Saturday, the neighborhood looked quite empty after many of its residents died or left the area to take shelter elsewhere in the coastal sliver.

"The situation here is absolutely catastrophic. I can see nothing but destroyed buildings,"
How many simply fell apart when Arab building construction standards found themselves atop the thorough Israeli destruction of Hamas tunnels underneath?
said the Press TV correspondent in Gazoo, adding that the neighborhood was filled with dead bodies, many of which were decomposed due to being left unattended on the ground.

There was "absolutely nothing" left and "nowhere to go" for those who had survived Israel's atrocities in the region.

Israeli warplanes have been carrying out incessant Arclight airstrikes against the blockaded Gazoo Strip since July 8. On July 17, thousands of Israeli soldiers launched a ground invasion into the densely-populated strip.

So far, more than 1,000 people have been killed and thousands others injured by the Israeli regime's offensive against the coastal sliver despite pressure from the international community.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Paleostinian resistance movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, has been launching retaliatory attacks against Israel.

Hamas fires rockets toward Israel after terror group rejects truce proposal
[FOXNEWS] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, said it fired five rockets at Israel late Saturday after rejecting Israel's offer to extend a 12-hour humanitarian cease-fire by four hours, casting new doubt on international efforts to broker an end to 19 days of fighting.

The terror group said two of the rockets were aimed at Tel Aviv. Police in Israel's second-largest city dispersed a peace rally attended by several thousand people because of the threat, a front man said.

Hamas front man Sami Abu Zuhri
...a senior spokesman for Hamas. Zuhri gained notoriety in 2006 when he dropped his money belt containing somewhere between 640,000 and 900,000 euros, which was confiscated by Paleostinian security and customs officials at a routine border crossing from Egypt to Gaza. The news brought competing Hamas and Fatah forces to the crossing checkpoint for an epic face-making and hollering contest...
said the group rejected Israel's proposal to extend an original 12-hour lull by four hours, until midnight (2100 GMT) Saturday.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
the Israeli military warned residents of areas where there had been heavy fighting against returning there.

Zuhri sent a text message to news hounds Saturday, saying: "No agreement to extending the calm for an additional four hours."

Israel has set its own terms for the lull, saying it would continue demolishing Hamas military tunnels under the Gazoo-Israel border.

Israeli Cabinent minister Yuval Steinitz, confirmed reports that Israel decided to extend it by four hours, until midnight Saturday The initial lull agreed to by Israel and Hamas had begun at 8 a.m. (0500 GMT) Saturday.

He says the decision was made by the Israeli prime minister and defense minister. Steinitz says a further extension would be considered at a Cabinet meeting later Saturday.

Syria Regime Forces Retake Gas Field from Jihadists
[An Nahar] Syrian government troops Saturday recaptured the Shaar gas field in Homs province from the Islamic State, a week after the jihadists seized it, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"Since this morning, there has been fighting around the Al-Shaar field between regime forces and the IS. The army has succeeded in ejecting the jihadists, and it now controls the site and surrounding hills," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman told Agence La Belle France Presse.

The powerful jihadist group, which operates in Syria and Iraq, killed around 300 members of the Syrian security forces in the battle for the key facility. Some of them were executed after being captured.

#1  I'm no expert and know only what I pick up from news blogs, but it strikes me that this story, as some others, says that IS is not invincible, and more to the point, that they may have bitten off more territory than they can control. Both Iraqis and Kurds have checked them in various places. And so far at least they have not hit Baghdad, where US SOF is present, as one deduces from Occupied White House statements. And as with AQI before them, their domestic relations dis-endear them to civilians. As a Saudi client, IS is not predictably a stable on-going fighting force. Again, I am not an expert, just making observations of what appear to my eyes skimming the surfaces of the multi-faceted phenomenon. God help the girls and women and massacre the misogynists. That is my prayer.

Rocket Fired from South towards Israel Lands in Lebanon
[An Nahar] A rocket was fired overnight on Friday from the South towards Israel, announced the army in a statement.

It said that unknown assailants fired the rocket from the outskirts of the town of Beit Lahya at 1:50 am and it landed near the Rashaya al-Fukhar town. No one was injured in the incident.

The army has since deployed patrols in the area.

Earlier, it was reported that two Katyusha rockets were fired in the Kfar Hammam region towards Israel, but they missed their target and landed within Lebanese territories. Voice of Leb radio (93.3) added that Israeli jets fired light bombs over the area in response to the incident.

On Tuesday, a rocket was launched from the outskirts of the southern town of Shebaa towards Israel, but it also landed in Lebanese territories.

A number of similar incidents have taken place recently in light of the Israeli campaign against the Gazoo Strip that began earlier this month.

fighters and gunnies in the region.

LBCI television reported that a Syrian MiG aircraft fired three rockets at Arsal's al-Rahweh region on Friday evening.

"The Lebanese army then shot up the aircraft," LBCI noted.

"Syrian military aircraft bombed the Wadi al-Zamarani, al-Ajram and al-Rahweh regions (in Arsal)," the state-run National News Agency detailed, noting that the jets targeted a convoy of gunnies in the region.

Meanwhile,
...back at the mall, Clarissa suddenly spied Mr. Bartlett at the checkout counter. He was buying Grecian Formula!...
OTV said the Hizbullah fighters have seized control of the highest hill that separates Arsal's outskirts from Syria.

The NNA reported that several maimed Syrians were admitted to Arsal's field hospital, after they had been injured in the border festivities.

It identified them as Mohammed Omran Bakour, Mohammed Hussein Amoun and Safwan Mohammed al-Zein.

Many Hizbullah fighters have recently died in the renewed festivities against Syrian rebels on several fighting fronts in al-Qalamoun villages, as the Syrian regime claims that it is bombing the Arsal plains "to prevent terrorists' infiltration."

"An army force raided the houses of runaways wanted for their involvement in different types of crimes in Brital, and managed to arrest Syrian national Mohammed Bashir Qarii," the military institution said in a communique.

Troops also seized six cars, military equipment and a quantity of ammunition.

The statement noted that two of the seized cars were stolen, while the rest did not fulfill the required legal conditions.
