[An Nahar] Egypt warned Ankara Saturday of "further action" as it protested for the second time in a week at the Turkish premier criticizing its president and Cairo's handling of the Gazoo conflict.
Ties have been strained since both withdrew their ambassadors last year after the military ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, who had forged closer ties with Turkey's devout Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi only they haven't dumped him yet... .
The foreign ministry said it was summoning the Turkish charge d'affaires -- for the second time within a week -- to protest against Erdogan's criticism in the media on Thursday of President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi and Cairo's stance on the conflict in the Gazoo Strip.
Ministry front man Badr Abdelatty told Agence La Belle France Presse that the protest comes after Erdogan in an interview with U.S. television channel CNN "repeated again that Sisi was a tyrant and that Egypt has no role" in resolving the Gazoo crisis.
Erdogan also denounced Sisi on July 18 as an "illegitimate tyrant", saying that Cairo could not be relied upon to negotiate a truce in Gazoo.
Saturday's ministry statement said Erdogan's remarks show "the total ignorance and dismissal of the political reality in Egypt since the June 30 revolution".
Millions of Egyptians had taken to the streets on June 30 last year demanding the resignation of Morsi, Egypt's first freely elected president.
Sisi ousted Morsi on the back of these protests.
"The Turkish leadership has repeatedly interfered in the internal affairs of the country, which is totally unacceptable," the ministry said.

[Tolo News] The U.S. government has urged Pak leaders to protect gains made during counter-insturgent operations along the border region with Afghanistan over the past month and prevent the infamous Haqqani Network from entrenching itself there once again.
The report on communications between Washington and Islamabad acme from White House National Security Council member Jeffrey Eggers on Friday.
In June, the Pak military launched a series of operations throughout the Norther Wazoo tribal belt region that borders Afghanistan. The region is known to be a hotbed of hard boyz and terrorist groups that have targeted Afghan and NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... forces across the border.
Afghan officials have been skeptical about the operations launched by Islamabad, with some suggesting they are just putting on a show to convince the international community that Pakistain does not harbor groups like the Haqqani Network, which is considered one of the largest and most sophisticated terrorist groups in the world.
"Pakistain cooperates with the Haqqani Network a lot, and Haqqani mostly targets Afghanistan; the Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF being their priorities," Kabul Police Chief Zaher Zaher said on Saturday.
In Afghanistan, the idea of hard boyz and murderous Moslems basing themselves out of Pakistain is accepted more or less as fact, which is one of the key reasons for frayed relations between the two neighbors over the years.
"The Haqqani Network is a very dangerous network, who have implemented many operations in Afghanistan over past years, but Pakistain has never done anything to destroy them," said military analyst Jawed Kohistan ...a backwoods district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distinguished by being even more rustic than is the norm among the local Pashtuns.... i.
The Afghan government remains highly suspicious of Pak intelligence and military leaders, for the most part believing they are still in cahoots with Taliban and Haqqani leaders calling the shots for the war in Afghanistan from safe havens across the border.
Although Pakistain has maintained the operations it has carried out in Northern Waziristan effectively eliminated much of the terrorist threat in the region, experts in Kabul have argued otherwise.

On July 17 CNN's Diana Magnay stood atop a hill in Sderot, and after having filmed Israelis cheering the bombing of Gaza, tweeted "Israelis on hill above Sderot cheer as bombs land on #gaza; threaten to 'destroy our car if I say a word wrong.' Scum." Her castigation of the young people from Sderot who often gather to watch the war is part of a larger outrage by international media at the "Sderot cinema."
There are excuses for this "slip-up" by the journalist.
She deleted the tweet quickly, realizing it was inappropriate or would call into question her coverage (she was subsequently transferred by the network to Russia). Sent to the Eastern Front---the more things change...
(Reuters) - Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, the outgoing head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, warned on Saturday that the destruction of Hamas would only lead to something more dangerous taking its place, as he offered a grim portrait of a period of enduring regional conflict.
"If Hamas were destroyed and gone, we would probably end up with something much worse. The region would end up with something much worse," Flynn said at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado.
"A worse threat that would come into the sort of ecosystem there Â… something like ISIS," he added. Flynn said bluntly: "Is there going to be a peace in the Middle East? Not in my lifetime."

In support of General Flynn's theory, wiping them all out would play hell with efforts at genetic mapping as a tool of causal discovery. As second thought however, I suppose the origins are already fairly clear.

Quite probably. Al Qaeda in Gaza and several others are waiting in the wings. But 1) they are much smaller organizations, proved by the fact that they could not overthrow Hamas, and 2) it takes a while to build up supplies and connections, so in the meantime the new rulers would be weak and ineffective. This would give Israel time to degrade the new, worse thing to ineffectiveness, considerably delaying the next Gaza war -- a very good thing. Finally, the newcomers are likely to be unacceptable to Iran, cutting off a generous donator of war material and training, even as Egypt keeps the border tightly closed. And while ISIL and Qatar stand ready to lend assistance to a likeminded taqfiri group, the Caliphate is likely to offer that training as apprenticeships in its own jihad, which seems to be killing off a good many of its young enthusiasts.

Foreign ministers from the United States, Europe and the Middle East called on Saturday for an extension of the 12-hour ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said.
And did so while safely in Paris. Plus, the food is better...
"All of us call on the parties to extend the humanitarian ceasefire that is currently underway," he told reporters after a gathering that included the foreign ministers of Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Qatar, Turkey and the United States.
"All of us want to obtain, as quickly as possible, a durable, negotiated ceasefire that responds both to Israeli needs in terms of security and to Palestinian needs in terms of the social-economic development (of Gaza) and access to the territory of Gaza," Fabius added.
The ministers, along with senior EU diplomat Pierre Vimont, met on the same day that Israel began a 12-hour ceasefire during which it said it would press on searching for tunnels used by militants. The Islamist group Hamas, which dominates Gaza, said all Palestinian factions would abide by the brief truce.
The ineffectual US Secretary of State John Kerry has been spearheading international efforts to end 19 days of conflict in which 940 Palestinians, many of them civilians, have been killed. The diplomatic push was to continue on Saturday with the Paris meeting of the foreign ministers - including from Qatar and Turkey, which are prime interlocutors with Hamas. The United States refuses to deal with Hamas because it regards the Palestinian faction as a terrorist group.
"The necessity right now is to stop the loss of life," British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond told reporters. "And we stop the loss of life by getting this ceasefire to roll over for 12 hours, 24 hours or 48 hours - and then again until we have established the level of confidence that allows the parties to sit round a table to talk about the substantive issues."
If I were cynical, I'd note that peace between Israel and the Paleostinians would put all these people out of a job...
If I were cynical, I'd point out that these people have a good many riot-ready Muslim voters, who can also swing elections.
If I were even more cynical, I'd point out that the average man/woman in the streets is far more ready than their leaders to crack open the heads of the rioters and be done with them.

One does not need to be a great expert to realize that the damage to Gazoo's infrastructure has been massive - it is enough to look at the pictures from the war zone. And while the Economy Ministry of the Paleostinian unity government has issued a preliminary estimate of $3 billion in damages, it is clear that the final figure will be far higher, even as the fighting continues.
The Ministry has not said how it reached this estimate, but noted that the figure was reached after consultations with experts and economic bodies, including some in the Gazoo Strip. In this respect, if the estimate does reflect the reality, the extent of the damage is already almost double the annual GDP of the Gazoo Strip, which in 2013 was just $1.8 billion.
The Paleostinian Authority in Ramallah, already under threat from the growing support for Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, is trying to show some initiative on rebuilding the Gazoo Strip. The deputy prime minister announced earlier this week that the government has already begun consultations with various agencies on plans to rebuild the Strip.
With Israeli approval, the Paleostinian Authority has so far sent several truckloads of aid to the Gazooks. Although, of course, the level of distress and with the number of displaced standing at more than 100,000 people, the aid is purely symbolic
Paleostinian Economy Ministry argues, among other things, that Israel has caused tremendous damage to the industrial area located in the Strip — a zone of 485 dunam (120 acres), which provided 2,000 jobs before the fighting began.
Bypassing Hamas
According to the Paleostinians, in the two weeks since the IDF operation began, all economic activity has been completely paralyzed, including the key fishing industry. It has been reported that fishing port in Gazoo has sustained several aerial attacks, causing significant damage to the infrastructure there. The Paleostinian Authority wants to take the opportunity of the reconstruction work that will follow the military operation to expand the fishing port, allowing it to cater to up to a thousand fishing vessels simultaneously.
And even before the parties show a willingness to declare a ceasefire there are those looking ahead; the first agreement was signed this week for the reconstruction of Gazoo. The UAE government has signed an agreement with the UN refugee agency UNRWA for the transfer of 150 million dirhams (some $40 million) earmarked for rebuilding the area.
The UAE government has stated that this money is solely intended for the rehabilitation of homes, hospitals and schools. This money will be transferred to UNRWA, with the intention of keeping out of Hamas' reach.
This is an important trend to watch for. The moderate Gulf States (Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... , UAE and Bahrain) are making every effort to deprive Hamas of ever again getting its hands on the money going into the Gazoo Strip.

Absurd!! The fleet is blocked by Egyptian regulations governing coast of Sinai; the coast of Israel is blocked as well. 1,000 vessels could empty Gaza's waters within a year.
