| #3 bill, not such a twisted interpretation the quran clearly is negative on images (21:51-21:53) and later hadiths are more detailed on this so that use of images in mosques is forbidden in all moslem sects the issue of concern to ISIS (and some others) is non image structures that are themselves considered holy (from the shrines blown up recently to various sites in Mecca up and including the Kaaba stone). In this regard, ISIS and some other sects are not in the majority - but doesn't mean they are 'twisted' sunnis are particularly strict on this; shia less so |

| #2 Beyond savages. Savages do it out of ignorance. These guys are doing it because they have some twisted interpretation that all representations of the human are forbidden by the Quran... This is the future of the Middle East if they don't quit nibbling dates and lounging in the coffee shops. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran have enough military muscle to put a stop to all of this any time they want...you tell me why they are sitting on their hands. While I am disgusted with our foreign policy, this is as much a regional problem as any and in some ways the regional powers should be doing something. Anything we do there will be intervention and we'll have both sides shooting at us. |
