Will Trump Ride Off Into the Sunset?
[PatriotPost] I once wrote that whenever Donald Trump exits office, he will likely leave as a "tragic hero." Over two millennia ago, the Athenian tragedian Sophocles first described the archetype in his portraits of an angry and old but still fearsome Ajax, and heroic but stubborn and self-fixated Antigone.

In the iconic John Ford Western "The Searchers" and in a host of other films from "Shane" to "High Noon," we have seen stories of these sorts.

The legalistic but impotent town council, the idealistic but outgunned sodbusters or the incompetent posse in desperation turns to unconventional deliverance. They suddenly need a John Wayne as a scary Ethan Edwards, or a mysterious gunslinger like Shane.

Southern Women in Business
[Garden & Gun] In the fall of 2019, Garden & Gun released its latest book, Southern Women, chronicling the stories of more than a hundred of the region’s most accomplished females. This year, G&G partnered with Synovus to lift these stories off the page, presenting the three-part speaker series Southern Women in Business. The online and in-person discussions featured groundbreaking businesswomen in the realms of investing, culinary arts, retail, and more, including G&G cofounder and CEO Rebecca Darwin, chef Nina Compton, designer Cristina Lynch, and fashion industry leader Laura Vinroot Poole.

When it came to partnering with Garden & Gun on Southern Women in Business, Synovus was a natural fit. The company began in a Georgia textile mill, where one of its founders helped secure the hard-earned savings of a female worker after her money was spilled on the factory floor. "Beginning with that simple act of kindness, we have a rich legacy of supporting women, who will continue to strongly influence the future of the South," says chief strategy officer Liz Wolverton. To dive deeper into these stories, we chatted with some of the panelists on the joys and challenges of being a woman in their field.

Bill Maher trashing the Democratic Party - Royally!

And Colbert? Never. And who's the cry baby who cried over somebody shooting a lion? Him, too....never.

Maybe someday we'll have a Johnny Carson or Jay Leno again. They didn't bring politics into their acts/shows.

The Fury of the Fatherless
[FirstThings] The ritualistic exhibition of destructive behaviors in city after city is without precedent in America. Neither the civil rights demonstrations nor the protests against the war in Vietnam looked remotely like this. The differences demand explanation. Blame what you will on the usual bête noirs: Donald Trump, cancel culture, police brutality, political tribalism, the coronavirus pandemic, far-right militias, BLM, antifa. All these factors feed the "demand" side of the protests and rioting, the reasons for the ritualistic enactment. But what about the "supply" side—the ready and apparently inexhaustible ranks of demonstrators themselves? What explains them?

The answer cannot be "racism." The spectacle of often-white protesters screaming at sometimes-black policemen undercuts anything dreamed of by Critical Race Theory. So do the actual statistics concerning cop-on-black crime. So do public attitudes. In 2017, according to Pew Research, 52 percent of respondents said that race "doesn’t make much difference" in marriage, and another 39 percent said that interracial marriage is "a good thing." When 91 percent of the public shrugs at or applauds interracial marriage, it is absurd to speak of a spectral racism that permanently and irredeemably poisons society.

So, here’s a new theory: The explosive events of 2020 are but the latest eruption along a fault line running through our already unstable lives. That eruption exposes the threefold crisis of filial attachment that has beset the Western world for more than half a century. Deprived of father, Father, and patrium, a critical mass of humanity has become socially dysfunctional on a scale not seen before.

#4  For more than thirty years, abandoned children and runaways have been a unique part of the city’s culture. And, for thirty years, documentaries and other reports on these lost children have abounded. It was Portland’s permissive approach to runaways that created the nation’s best-known subculture of “teen hobos,” “teen homeless,” and “street teens.”

Well, that helps me understand the Portland mess. I wonder if their Mayor is a runaway teen?

#7  ^ that's saying a lot

"Harvey Milk may have been a gay rights icon and one of the first openly gay elected officials in this country, but often left out of his biography by those who choose to celebrate him was the fact that he liked to have sex with underage boys.

"One such example of this is Milk’s “relationship” with a 16-year-old runaway, Jack Galen McKinley. As told by San Francisco Chronicle reporter Randy Shilts in his 1982 biography of Milk, The Mayor of Castro Street,

Sixteen-year-old McKinley was looking for some kind of father figure…At 33, Milk was launching a new life, though he could hardly have imagined the unlikely direction toward which his new lover would pull him.

"Shilts was also a close friend of Milk’s and wrote of many of his encounters with teenagers as though there was nothing wrong with them. 'Harvey always had a penchant for young waifs with substance abuse problems,' Shilts wrote...."

Sebastian Gorka: Where Are the Arsonists, Looters at D.C. MAGA March?
[Breitbart] America First host Sebastian Gorka on Saturday questioned why no rioting or looting occurred at the D.C. MAGA March in the nation’s capital.

"Can you guys tell me where are the arsonists? Where’s the looting? Where’s the people getting shot? Why isn’t DC boarded up?" he asked Breitbart News.

"Oh I know! Because we hate those people who hate America and we love it, and that’s a big difference, and that’s why we’re here," Gorka stated.

Trump voters rallied in Washington, DC, over the weekend to show support for President Trump’s efforts to ensure election integrity.

"Some of the events associated with Saturday’s rallies have been advertised as the Million MAGA March, March for Trump, and Stop the Steal," according to Breitbart News.

At the event, people waved and cheered as the president’s motorcade drove past Freedom Plaza:

Furious With Parler Success Links Dan Bongino to Russian Disinformation
[Red State] What is it they say about flak and targets?

After weeks of blatant, unapologetic shenanigans by Big Tech, conservatives are beginning a mass exodus off of mainstream social media platforms and seeking out alternative communication apps and platforms.

Enter Parler. They’ve been around for a while but as Twitter banishments picked up steam in the last few months, the social media app began to see their numbers explode as people sought out censorship free social spaces. Made famous by major investor Dan Bongino, Parler has gone from being an experimental right-wing alternative to being a major player on the social media scene.

You’d think that would make liberals happy. We’re leaving their spaces. We’re removing our disgusting, revolting, upsetting presence away from their precious, righteous, justice-focused eyes.

But no. Even though they’ve basically cheated their way into the White House, the liberal left is still angry that we on the right exist at all. They’re like spoiled children at Christmas time after they’ve opened the last present only to look at mother and father and ask, "Is this it?"

Will the Real Winner be China?
[American Thinker] Cheered on by the media, presumptuous Democrats are already popping the corks and picking out the drapes for the Oval Office, giddy that more than 70 million Republican voters will be handed their red caps and shown the door.

Not so fast. Upended state election protocols, systemic machine software glitches, Stalinistic vote count irregularities, and ballot deliveries in the dead of night are not always enough to snatch victory from defeat. Fighting against the Tammany Hall playbook may be challenging, but each day brings a stronger indication that a reversal of fortune is forthcoming.

On the other side of the world, a gentleman sporting a thick bootblack pompadour and a disarming smirk nonetheless considers the prospect of an upper hand in the American presidency. Xi Jinping has wagered this bet by hook into Wall Street, media moguls, show business, and academia, and by crook through the gluttony and hubris emblematic of some of America’s most powerful political families.

The Chinese are the epitome of patience, measuring history in eras and dynasties going back four millennia. They have fought hundreds of wars, almost all of them internal and tribal, conveying valuable lessons on warfighting and the use of intelligence to defeat rivals of far greater strength and resources by turning those attributes against them. Their spoken language and artistic ideographs are incomprehensible to most outsiders and vexing even to scholars of the Orient. Simple words, such as shi, seem repartee spoken with a smile, but describe military and diplomatic schemes crafted to discredit or eliminate an opponent. So long as we view China through a Western aperture, we will continue to overvalue their assurances while their ill intentions go unnoticed.

#3  Homicide detectives upon arrival at the scene of a murder ask who had the most to gain from the victim's demise. In the case of all the people who have died from Covid-19, the obvious answer is Xi Jinping. We know he wanted Trump out and we know the Democrats took advantage of the pandemic to implement their dubious vote-by-mail scheme. This is not proof positive that Xi unleashed a bio-weapon but it is motive, opportunity and cause for suspicion.

Wins by Democratic sheriffs in Georgia mean less cooperation with ICE
[Washington Examiner] Democrats' successes in electing sheriff seats in two counties outside Atlanta are likely to curtail cooperation with federal immigration authorities by local law enforcement.
Larger graphic is candidate Taylor.
Gwinnett County Sheriff-elect Keybo Taylor and Cobb County Sheriff-elect Craig Owens both vowed to end agreements with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which allowed deputized local law enforcement at county jails to identify, arrest, and detain people illegal immigrants on behalf of ICE. Taylor said the program led to profiling people and hurt the immigrant community’s ability to trust law enforcement for fear of being deported if police learned that they lacked residency documents.

ICE, a federal agency within the Department of Homeland Security, has worked closely with the Republican sheriffs in Gwinnett and Cobb counties for years. But recent demographic changes in the region upended the Republican Party's hold on both counties' sheriff and district attorney seats.

The shifts more broadly reflect a political realignment in Georgia, long a Republican bastion. Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leads President Trump in Georgia by about 14,000 votes heading into a statewide recount next week. Biden, the former vice president and 36-year Delaware senator, would be the first Democratic presidential candidate to win Georgia since Bill Clinton in 1992 on his way to the White House.

Democrats have also nabbed a pair of House seats over the past two election cycles covering Gwinnett and Cobb counties, which were long held by Republicans.

#1  The shifts more broadly reflect a political realignment in Georgia, long a Republican bastion.

A blinding flash of the obvious. Identity politics are all about demographics, and demographics matter. The culmination of a 20+ year flipping effort. Fulton, Clayton, Douglas, and Dekalb counties have long been Zimbabwe on the Chattahooch. Gwinnette and Cobb were targeted to follow. The already frantic pace of white migration to the North Ga. mountains will now intensify.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan 'province': Will it make the Kashmir dispute irrelevant?
[DW] Pak PM Khan has promised to grant provisional provincial status to Gilgit-Baltistan, which is part of the larger Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
region. Activists say the move is akin to India's decision to integrate its part of Kashmir.

Earlier this month, Pak authorities announced their decision to grant Gilgit-Baltistan — an autonomous region that Islamabad administers in the Pakistain's north — the status of a full province.

There's a broad consensus in the Western political class in favor of appeasing Iran. US politicians know that this isn't popular with their voters so they perform some failure theater.

Expect Biden to resume Obama's Iran strategy with no opposition beyond additional failure theater.
