--Tech & Moderator Notes
Here's what's gonna happen...
Duh. Somebody hit "publish" before I actually wrote anything.

Thanks to the last successful bleg we have a brand new server that has a by now slightly outdated copy of the Rantburg server. I've been meaning to take it to Baltimore and do a swap. My problem is that I need someone to take me. When we lived in the Baltiburbs it was a twenty five minute drive. Now that we live in Biden country it's two and a half hours. I can't do it myself -- can't turn my head anymore. There's also COVID to consider.

I've signed up with Comcast Business so I can keep the server in my bedroom. That's the best of all possible worlds, except for the Comcast part. We have xFinity, their residential service and we haven't been happy with it. We have a thirty day turn-off window, so if things don't work out we can find a physical host in our area and hopefully no harm done.

Every time we've swapped servers something has gone wrong. One time we had everything set up, ready to go, and when I plugged it into the network the network card didn't work. (Solution: Plug the old box back in and let it run for another year. Expend a good deal of wind cursing HP.)

The new box is a Dell with a Xeon processor and 32gb of memory. It's got 6 terabytes of storage and the same in backup. If anything were to go wrong, short of a house fire, we won't lose any data.

I'm awaiting the call from Comcast. I figure it'll take a day or two to get the two boxes in sync. I'll let everybody know when I'm gonna pull the trigger. You shouldn't notice any difference.

#13  Here's what's gonna happen: we'll become a more high tech version of Brazil or Colombia or Mexico. Soaring violence and official corruption, shrinking and shriveled middle class, huge public sector unions and about 50% of the population impoverished and dependent on public assistance.

At the same time a small percentage of businessmen - corrupt bastards favored by the ruling party - will become billionaires and dominate the economy. In America the elites will prop up these companies' share prices and create their own Loeffler windfalls.

Inequality will grow and the elites will distract the impoverished and struggling majority with constant 1984-style accusations of Thoughtcrimes. New wars will be started in the Middle East. Iran and China will rise and dominate their regions. The elites will be rewarded financially for their service to the mullahs and the CCP.

If we don't take back our country we will lose out. The fire is here.

I heard it from a friend, who heard it from a friend, that Obama’s face and body language indicate he’s cr*pping himself, lately. IDK, but he does seem pretty tense for such a cool guy, LOL 😂

My Hypothesis:

• Obama becomes increasingly strident🔥 and unhinged, as the Whitehouse slips from his reach . . .

• Obama makes 🙈 🙉 🙊 demands*—to try to boss the narrative;

• Obama starts calling people out, fingering why Biden is losing and the putsch is going south;

• Finally, heads roll! And, they eat their wounded first.

Popcorn time 🍿

An aside:

The GOP and rino’s should lead, follow or get out of the way! NOW. I don’t think the People are in the mood for dalliance.

“_ _ _ f o r d ‘ s law” shows that fraud has occurred in this election, massive fraud. We WILL tear each and every system apart until we find what the “B e n _ _ _ _’ s law” forensics test is identifying.

Africa North
New Libyan Armed Unit to Secure Libyan Ports & Oil Fields
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Monday, the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanalla, announced a proposal to form a new force tasked with protecting oil installations. He noted that the guards will include civilian and military personnel.

In a joint press conference with the UN Acting Envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, Sanalla said that the mission of the new Petroleum Facilities Guards (PFG) is based on three components. Firstly, the industrial security of the corporation, secondly, a new protection force equipped with highly modern technologies, and thirdly a combat military force consisting of battalions to protect oil installations.

He clarified that there is no dispute over how the new guards’ unit would be formed. He indicated that their commander will be chosen by the oil corporation itself. Concerning the delayed salaries of the current PFG, Sanalla said that the corporation has nothing to do with this issue, as those guards are not affiliated with it.

He claimed that there were no security breaches in the oil institutions before 2011, but since then there have been many violations. Sanalla also added that the NOC is currently aiming to improve its performance in a way that does not affect the safety of individuals.

Notably, Williams arrived in Brega earlier today, on the sidelines of the start of talks to unify the PFG across the country.

The talks emanate from the meetings of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC), which represent the military track led by the United Nations Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to resolve the crisis.

Home Front: WoT
Afghan man pleads not guilty to 2008 kidnapping of American journalist
[AlAhram] An Afghan man pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
on Monday in Manhattan federal court to six counts related to the 2008 kidnapping of a U.S. journalist and two Afghan nationals in Afghanistan.

Haji Najibullah faces charges including kidnapping, hostage taking, conspiracy, and using a machine gun to further violent mostly peaceful crimes. Each count carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The indictment did not name the journalist, but a law enforcement official familiar with the matter told Rooters the case involved David Rohde, a former New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

and Rooters correspondent who was kidnapped by the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
in 2008.

"Not guilty. I am not involved in any of this," Najibullah said through an interpreter at a hearing before U.S. District Judge Katherine Polk Failla.

The U.S. Department of Justice said that on Nov. 10, 2008, Najibullah and other co-conspirators carrying machine guns kidnapped Rohde and the two Afghans who were assisting him, and soon forced them to hike from Afghanistan to Pakistain.

Prosecutors said the victims were held captive for seven months, and Najibullah recorded a video of Rohde begging for help while the barrel of a machine gun was pointed at his face.

Rhode, a Pulitzer Prize winner who is now with the New Yorker, escaped in June 2009.

He has said the kidnapping came on a trip where he was to interview a Taliban commander, Abu Tayeb. Prosecutors said that name was one of Najibullah's aliases.

The indictment is dated June 2014, but was not unsealed until Oct. 28, after Najibullah had been arrested and moved to the United States from Ukraine to face the charges.

The case is U.S. v. Najibullah et al, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 14-cr-00401.

Iraq
Iraq hangs 21 terrorism convicts in latest mass executions
[THEBAGHDADPOST] Since defeating ISIS terrorist group in 2017, Iraq has sentenced hundreds of citizens to death for their alleged affiliation to the bad boy group. Rights groups accuse Iraq's judiciary of carrying out rushed trials.

Iraqi authorities on Monday hanged 21 convicted snuffies and murderers at the notorious Nasiriyah prison in the country's south, according to an interior ministry statement.

The men had been convicted under a 2005 counter terrorism law, which carries the death penalty
. Authorities did not give details about specific crimes, but the interior ministry statement said some of those executed were involved in two suicide kabooms that killed dozens of people in the northern town of Tal Afar.

Since declaring victory over the ISIS bad boy group in 2017, Iraq has put hundreds of suspected jihadists on trial and carried out several mass executions.
An Nahar adds:
They were hanged in Nasiriyah prison in Dhi Qar province, the only one in Iraq that carries out capital punishment.

It is known for holding condemned ex-officials of the Saddam Hussein regime, which was toppled by the 2003 US-led invasion. Saddam himself was hanged in December 2006.

Iraqis fearfully refer to Nasiriyah jail as al-Hout, or the whale, a vast prison complex that "swallows people up".

Since declaring the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group defeated in late 2017, Iraq has condemned hundreds of its own citizens to death for membership in the jihadist faction. But only a small proportion of the sentences have been carried out, as they must be approved by the country's president, currently Barham Saleh. Police sources confirmed to AFP that Saleh had signed off on Monday's executions.

Iraq's courts have also tried dozens of foreign nationals for alleged IS membership, condemning 11 French citizens and one Belgian national to death. Those sentences have not been carried out.

Iraq ranks fifth among countries that carry out death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
s, according to Amnesia Amnesty International, which documented 100 executions in the country in 2019. That amounts to one out of seven executions across the world last year.

- CRAMPED CONDITIONS, RADICALIZATION -
Amnesty and other advocacy groups accuse Iraq's justice system of corruption, of carrying out rushed trials using circumstantial evidence and failing to allow the accused a proper defense or access to lawyers. They also condemn cramped conditions in detention centers, where cells built to hold around 20 detainees are often packed with 50, a source working in the jails told AFP.

Those arrested for petty crimes are often held with hardened jihadists, which has facilitated radicalization in the past, experts said.

Iraq's government has declined to provide figures on detention centers or prisoners, including how many are facing terrorism-related charges, although some studies estimate 20,000 are being held for purported IS links.

Some facilities have shut down in recent years, including Baghdad's Abu Ghraib complex that became infamous for prisoner abuse during the U.S.-led occupation.

Others were rocked by riots and prison breaks that allowed detainees accused of "terrorism" to escape.

Many women whose husbands, brothers or sons were suspected jihadist fighters still live in displacement camps around the country. They have very little freedom of movement, even to access health care or schooling for their children, with NGOs condemning the settlements as "prison camps."
