At least six dead after suicide bomber attacks restaurant in Somali capital
[AlAhram] Six people died on Tuesday in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu when a jacket wallah went kaboom! in a restaurant near a police academy, a police front man and a witness said.

It was unclear who was behind the attack.

"A blast occurred at a restaurant near School Policio (police academy)," police front man Sadik Ali told news hounds in a WhatsApp message group shortly after the blast went off.

Later he told Rooters six people, including the perpetrator, had died in the bombing.

A witness, shopkeeper Mohammed Ali, told Rooters police opened fire after the blast went off.

He said he could see huge clouds of smoke rising above the restaurant and ambulances trying to reach the site, in the city’s Hamar Jajab district near Mogadishu port.

Another witness, Mohamud Ahmed, told Rooters heavy rain had sent a lot of people into the restaurant to seek shelter.
Police in Somalia say five people were killed when a jacket wallah detonated an explosives belt near the police academy in the capital, Mogadishu.

Spokesman Sadiq Adan Ali says eight other people were maimed in the blast on Tuesday. He said the bomber targeted a restaurant frequented by police.

The Somalia-based al-Shabaab

Death Eater group often targets Mogadishu. Experts for the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
have warned that the al-Qaeda-affiliated group is improving its explosives-making skills.

The U.N. Security Council voted last week to prevent the sale or shipment to Somalia of components of improvised bombs if there is ``significant risk'' they may be used to manufacture the often deadly devices.

Al-Shabaab remains the most active and resilient Death Eater group in Africa, controlling parts of southern and central Somalia. It has fired several mortars this year at the heavily defended international airport, where the U.S. Embassy and other missions are located.

Rocket falls in residential area in Baghdad near the Green Zone
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Al Ahram adds:
AFP reporters heard several large blasts, followed by rapid-fire sounds and red flares lighting up the sky, indicating that the embassy's C-RAM rocket defence system was deployed.

And from the Jerusalem Post:
Rockets fall inside Baghdad's Green Zone, child killed

Four Katyusha rockets landed in Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone and security officials said the attack targeted the U.S. embassy, Iraqi police and security sources said on Tuesday.

Sirens blared from the embassy inside the zone, which houses government buildings and foreign missions. One security source said at least four rockets were fired and some of them landed nearby.

A military statement said that seven Katyusha rockets were fired, four that fell inside the Green Zone and three outside, which killed a child and maimed five people.

The military said earlier four rockets were fired from an eastern district of the capital, but did not provide more details.

Footage from the military showed a rocket launcher fixed on the back of a mini-truck which was set on fire.

Israeli gets 7 years for smuggling supplies to Hamas for tunnels, weapons
[IsraelTimes] Michael Peretz also fined NIS 200,000 for facilitating transfer of illegal goods to Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
terror group, money laundering and tax fraud.

An Israeli citizen was sentenced on Tuesday to seven years in prison after he was found guilty of heading a cross-border smuggling ring that transferred thousands of tons of concrete, piping, metals and electronic equipment directly from Israel to the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror organization in the Gaza Strip.

Michael Peretz, a resident of the Mivtahim agricultural village in the Eshkol region that borders the Strip, was additionally fined NIS 200,000 (approximately $60,000) after he was convicted by Beersheba District Court earlier this year of a series of crimes that judges said "damaged national security."

Among the charges, Peretz was found guilty of contacting a foreign agent, facilitating the transfer of illegal goods to terror groups, money laundering and tax fraud amounting to millions of dollars. He was, however, cleared of the most serious charge — "aiding a terror group in its war against Israel."

According to allegations released by the Shin Bet security agency after his arrest in 2015,
...the mills of Justice grinding slowly, indeed...
Peretz, along with two other Israelis, set up a front company to cloak the transfer of illegal materials to a Hamas middleman at the Kerem Shalom crossing, who then delivered them directly to the terror group.

Of the merchandise allegedly supplied by the men to Hamas between 2013 and 2015, prosecutors said that the pipes were to be used in the production of rockets, while the concrete enabled the group to rebuild attack tunnels into Israel that were destroyed during the 2014 war.

In addition to building materials, the gang led by Peretz transferred millions of shekels’ worth of electronic devices, generators, tracking equipment, engines and communication cables.

Judges said that Peretz knew that the materials he transferred to Gaza were destined for Hamas but continued with the deals because of the high profits he was raking in.

The Kerem Shalom border crossing is one of three crossings from Israel into the coastal strip, which mostly facilitates the transfer of humanitarian aid and medical equipment, as well as the passage of patients from Gaza to Israeli hospitals.

Over the course of its conflict with Israel in 2014, Hamas utilized an elaborate tunnel system underneath the border to launch raids on IDF soldiers stationed outside the Strip.

Israel allows small quantities of construction materials into the Strip, saying that in Hamas’s hands, large amounts of concrete and piping would be diverted to military projects.

IDF launches airstrikes against Iranian Quds Force in Syria UPDATE: IDF video of the strikes
[IsraelTimes] Israeli military claims credit for attack, says it was in response to explosives placed on border; Syrian media says strike is near Damascus, 3 soldiers killed.

Israeli fighter jets attacked military sites controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Syrian military around Damascus early Wednesday morning in response to explosives troops uncovered on Israel’s border with Syria on Tuesday, the military said.

The Syrian state news agency SANA said three soldiers were killed and one was injured in the attack, which targeted sites in southern Syria. There were no immediate reports of casualties from the IRGC.

"Israel Defense Forces warplanes attacked military targets belonging to the Iranian Quds Force and the Syrian military tonight in Syria," the military said, referring to the IRGC’s expeditionary unit, which supports and directs Iranian proxies in Syria.

"The attack damaged warehouses, command posts and military complexes, as well as batteries of surface-to-air missiles," the IDF said.

SANA reported that the Israeli strike hit targets near Damascus, causing "material damage," but did not elaborate further on the locations or extent of the destruction. The state news outlet also said Syrian air defenses shot down several incoming Israeli missiles, though Syrian war analysts generally dismiss the regime’s regular claims of interceptions as false, empty boasts.

The military said the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s were in response to the explosives that it discovered on the border Tuesday, which it said were planted "by a Syrian cell that acted under Iranian direction."

On Tuesday, IDF engineers uncovered and disarmed the bombs, which had been planted inside Israeli-controlled territory in the southern Golan Heights, but on the Syrian side of the security fence, an area where Israeli soldiers routinely conduct patrols.

Following the discovery, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and the military said they held Syria responsible for the incident.

The IDF has launched hundreds of strikes in Syria since the start of the civil war in 2011 against moves by Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. to establish a permanent military presence in the country and efforts to transport advanced, game-changing weapons to terrorist groups in the region, principally Hezbollah. Israel has deemed both of these activities to be serious threats that it is prepared to take military action to prevent.

Though Israel officially maintains a policy of ambiguity regarding its activities in Syria — in the hopes of not giving Iran and Syria a reason to respond — the IDF consistently acknowledges carrying out airstrikes on targets in Syria that either are in response to specific attacks from the country, as was the case this week, or were attempts to preempt and prevent attacks from Syria.

The northern border has been tense in recent months, following as-yet unfulfilled threats of retaliation by the Hezbollah, after one of the terror group’s fighters was killed in Syria in an airstrike attributed to Israel in July.
Update from the Times of Israel ar 2:30 p.m. ET: The IDF released a 30 second video of the strikes. Enjoy!
