#1 6) NASA's Mission is to make Muslims feel better about themselves

#2 Doesn't mention why NASA has a archeologist on staff, though.

Same reason the Army does. When you operate in places like Fort Irwin, National Training Center, BY LAW the area has to be surveyed and checked for archeological remains so as not to disturb remains and sites of Native Americans. When you find some shards of pottery, the area has to be cordoned off. Just think of it as 'endangered species' bureaucratic obstruction for the feelings of a special interest group. So if you do business in desolate places where people don't live, you end up with archeologists doing some work. BTW, there is a NASA facility that does border the NTC.

We too have an archeology department out there in (a base a couple of hours from FT Irwin).

#7 depending on the location, we sometimes have to have both Arch/Paleo monitors onsite for all excavations. God forbid we find human bones. Curation is time-consuming and costly

#9 Other myths about NASA.

1) Just one astronaut has become a horrifying hypersexual cannibalistic mutant, and it didn't hurt John Glenn's senate career one bit.

2) John Kerry was not actually an astronaut, although his "honorary astronaut badge with silver star" is in his updated USN 201 file.

3) Velcro is well within safety limits for gamma ray emissions, though it should not be worn near a person for more than a minute or two, every few years.

4) Al Gore is actually from the ice planet Hoth instead of Tennessee. He is not a Lizard Man from Mars, like Jimmy Carter.

5) Contrary to the rumors that the world will be destroyed in the year 2012, NASA confirms that there will not be a year 2012, so we can't be destroyed. It's like a leap year thing, but only happens every 60 million years or so.

You need one of those when you go through the Stargate.
