#1 Scientific American has an article in its latest issue describing a method to actually tell the amounts and types of drugs being used in a locale by constant measurements of the drugs in sewage.

It appears to be undergoing full scale tests in some cities.

Because, even druggies use toilets, it is much more accurate then analysis like this.
