#1 Thank the Lord for this. One does wonder though where a few Republican Senators had their heads during the debate today, especially Trent Lott. One also wonders if Dingy Harry kept this alive after denying things like the Cornyn Amendment to make it distasteful to the wobblers so they would vote it dow...letting the Dhimmicrats claim the trunks killed the comprehensive immigration reform because of the "nativist" and racist views? UI never thought I would welcome the day when I was called nativist.

Immigration Bill Fails Crucial Test Vote

For years now I've thought about and read many fine pieces [some RBees] that illustrate how corrosive massive Illegal Immigration is on the sacred bond between We the People and the United States of America.

We who care and feel compelled to fight know that our cause is sublime and that our strong reactions have a fundamental parallel with the noble struggle our forefathers had battling the institution of Slavery, because it too had a similar corrosive effect on our exalted Citizenship, or Citizen Status if you will.

Illegal Immigration is not static. If the same Three Card Monte is foisted on us again it will only increase the corruption!

I'm certain [edumacated guess] that the professionals, terrorists that is.. [Quds force, Iran, Al-Q, Hamass, Paki-ISI etc.] have successfully embedded black teams of sleeper cells here in the USA.

Now do you think it is easier to hide when there are millions upon millions of illegals living in the USA? The underground economy, ID, Drugs, etc etc.

#4 All but a handful of Democrats supported the move

12 Democrats voted against this bill. I call that more than a handful. A handful is 3-5. 12 is close to a fourth. Oh, and JustAboutEnough, even though Lott shrilled for this bill, he ended up voting against it.

Michelle Malkin has a good rundown on her blog I think. More importantly, she has a full list of the Nay/Yea for all the amendments and the final vote. Just if your interested.

#5 In her closing speech Sen. Feinstein rhetorically asked the question "Maybe 'Comprehensive' is too big?" Of course the answer is, was, and always will be...No shit Senator! I'm no Brainwizard but here's a hint. Secure the Border first then deal with the issues that involve citizenship status.

#6 Jeff Sessions (R)Sen.Alabama said Wed night on the Senate floor that the " Compromise Committee" that met in secret along with special interest groups who gave birth to this bill were trying to ram it down everyones throats...he was visibly upset and blasted those who were trying to block debate and outstanding amendments....

The CBO(Congressional Budget Committee) report stated that the "bill" would have only been 25% effective reducing illgal immigration due to time to implement "triggers"...estimated to be completed in 2010..

#7 Realtor Harry also had this to say...

This week, we will vote on cloture and final passage of a comprehensive bill that will strengthen border security, bring the 12 million undocumented Americans out of the shadows, and keep our economy strong. In the days ahead, we will work to improve the bill to protect and strengthen family ties while improving the structure of the temporary-worker program.

Undocumented Americans, huh, Harry? What, just waiting for their fake paperwork? I think I see the problem here.
And, as far as them being in the shadows, trying walking down the Strip in Vegas every day while trying to avoid the hundreds of Mexicans snapping escort service and strip joint cards at you.

#8 Some republicans really don't want to be re-elected next year I see.

And buh-bye McCain. Any dismal hope you had of becoming president was destroyed by your own hand during this charade. Good fucking riddance too.

#9 And buh-bye McCain. Any dismal hope you had of becoming president was destroyed by your own hand during this charade.

Looks like Thompson is going to be eating McCain's lunch. While McCain has previously trod upon more than a few political toes, this time he tap danced on America's collective trotters and that's quite enough.

Defections to Fred Thompson Pose a Major Threat to McCain

McCain's Wife Surely Next to Endorse Fred Thompson

#10 Damn, the Senate would be a good place to work if it weren't for the voters.

#11 The immigration bill is toast right now. However, remember that the only reason that it fell apart was because the outrage of us, the American Citizens. The Senators AND the President cooked this thing up in the backroom. They tried to slip it through. They backed it down to to the outrage expressed by the citizens.

REMEMBER that we are dealing with the same dirty low down sneaky people in the Senate. THEY ARE STILL IN OFFICE and they are capable of the same behaviors in the future. Thank goodness that we have the Internet and talk radio to give early warning of attempts to hijack this republic. Better keep vigilant, because there are legislators trying to curb the above media modes.

We need to be vigilant and we need to get these parasites kicked out of the Senate and House. THAT is the tall order and Zen koan for the day.
