UN: Tragedy of Child Soldiers in Tindouf Camps Denounced in New York
[NORTHAFRICAPOST] The tragedy of children turned into soldiers by the separatist militia of the "polisario" with the blessing and support of the host country, Algeria, in the camps of Tindouf
...near the Mauritanian, Western Saharan and Moroccan borders and headquarters of the Polisario Front guerrillas. The Polisario Front, which has a much longer name in several languages, is the expression of the will to independence of the native nomads of the Western Sahara region, the Sahrawis, in their fight first against Spain and afterward against Morocco, a fight Algeria has been perfectly happy to support since 1973. Of course they allow children to volunteer for this noble cause as soon as they can stand without much assistance...
was vigorously denounced, Thursday, before the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Thus, the president of the Christian Democratic Women International, Anna Maria Stame, spoke out against the methods used by the separatist movement in southwest Algeria to recruit children and subject them to training "that even adults cannot stand".

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Armenia, Azerbaijan agree to EU mission along their border
[DW] The EU is set to play a bigger role in the Caucasus region as Russia's ability to manage the ongoing conflict there wanes. The European mission will last for two months.

Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed to allow the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
to send a mission to the tense shared border region between the two Caucasus neighbors, the European Council said on Friday.

The announcement followed talks between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the sidelines of the European Political Community gathering in Prague.

The two leaders reached the agreement during talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Council President Charles Michel.

The ongoing tensions between the two former Soviet republics over border regions broke out into open conflict once again last month, leading to the deaths of more than 200 people.

WHAT WILL THE EU MISSION DO?
A joint statement explained that Armenia would "facilitate a civilian EU mission alongside the border with Azerbaijan," while Azerbaijan would "cooperate with this mission as far as it is concerned."

"Armenia and Azerbaijan confirmed their commitment to the Charter of the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
and the Alma Ata 1991 Declaration through which both recognize each other's territorial integrity and illusory sovereignty," the European Council also said.

"The aim of this mission is to build confidence and, through its reports, to contribute to the border commissions," it added. The mission will begin in October and last for two months.

Baku and Yerevan already agreed to end their renewed hostilities with a cease-fire that was agreed upon last month.

RUSSIAN INFLUENCE WANING
The conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia is centered around the control of the Nagorno-Karabakh region which lies within Azerbaijan's borders but was under de facto Armenian control until they were forced out by large-scale fighting in 2020.

The decades-old conflict dates back to the fall of the Soviet Union and the subsequent ethnic conflict.

Azerbaijan's renewed aggression last month was interpreted by many as a challenge against Russia's hegemony in the region while it is bogged down in Ukraine. Moscow maintains a defensive alliance with Yerevan.

EU involvement is a further setback for Russian domination, especially considering the historical meeting between Pashinyan and Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
in Prague on Thursday.

Native of Ingushetia suspected of involvement in Syrian militants
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A resident of Ingushetia, Hava Khamkhoyeva, left with her husband for Syria, where she joined the militants of a terrorist organization, investigators suggested.

The Department of the Investigative Committee for Ingushetia opened a criminal case against a resident of the village of Nesterovskoye, 40-year-old Khava Khamkhoeva. She is charged under Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) and Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an illegal armed formation), Fortanga reports on its Telegram channel.

Investigators believe that in 2015, Khamkhoeva and her husband arrived in Syria and joined an illegal armed group, which is structurally part of the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia by a court, the newspaper writes.

The Department of the ICR for Ingushetia, as of 11.00 Moscow time, did not announce the initiation of the case against Khamkhoeva on its website and in the Telegram channel.

A woman with the same name (Khava Khamkhoyeva, born in 1982) was included on October 3 in the "List of organizations and individuals in respect of which there is information about their involvement in extremist activities or terrorism" compiled by Rosfinmonitoring, the Telegram channel "Update" reported on the same day. list of terrorists and extremists", which publishes changes in the list of Rosfinmonitoring.

The list on the Rosfinmonitoring website includes the name of Khava Khamkhoyeva, but does not indicate when it was included in the list.

In landmark ruling, top Spanish court says BDS movement ‘infringes on basic rights’
[IsraelTimes] Pro-Israel group ACOM hails decision by Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
of Spain, says it will serve as a legal precedent applicable to all further cases involving boycotts of Jewish state.

Over the past several years, dozens of Spanish courts have rejected Israeli boycotts
I think the reporter means boycotts of Israel, a very different thing...
by nonprofits, municipalities and other groups. Now, the country’s top court has ruled that the movement to boycott Israel represents "discrimination" that "infringes on basic rights."
I’m impressed, truly.
Separately, the Spanish parliament on Wednesday passed legislation that bars public funding for organizations that "promote antisemitism." The law uses the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism, which cites as examples of antisemitism some forms of Israel criticism.
Doubly impressed.
The ruling by the Supreme Court of Spain, which was issued on September 20 and published on Tuesday, was about an appeal that a pro-Paleostinian nonprofit, Associacion Interpueblos, filed contesting a lower court’s 2020 ruling that called a specific action to boycott Israel discriminatory.

ACOM, a Spanish pro-Israel nonprofit that has sued multiple entities for discriminating against Israel, claimed the ruling as a significant win. Spain was once a hotbed of efforts by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel, known as BDS. A slew of lower-court rulings in Spain had curtailed that trend, but they had pertained only to individual cases and thus had a limited impact, the group said, but the September 20 ruling will function as a legal precedent applicable to all cases going forward.

Prior to the appeal, pro-Paleostinian groups in Spain had not escalated appeals to the top court for fear of losing and creating precedent. "Also, it was a risk for us, but our legal team worked hard and turned that risk into a historical opportunity," an ACOM spokesperson wrote in an email to JTA.

This judicial policy is similar to the one practiced in La Belle France, where attempts to boycott Israel resulted in the 2003 adoption of a law that declares any attempt to single out countries discriminatory and unconstitutional.

Yeah, that's pretty much what they call any kind of criticism. It works, too. Just how successful they were was shown in 2008 by the results of a poll conducted by the Jewish Anti-Defamation League (ADL). It found that only 22% of Americans believed that Jews controlled Hollywood and big media. Whatever you do, don't look into the founders of Google and Facebook's ethnicity. US expands penalties for complying with Arab League boycott of Israel
[IsraelTimes] Firms that adhere to embargo must now tell the US government when settling charges, as Abraham Accord countries discard decades-old protocol but Iraq, Syria double down.

The Biden administration (aka the Wilmington comorra)
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
will increase penalties for complying with the decades-old Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
boycott of Israel, at a moment when some longtime participants have opted out and others are doubling down.

Matthew Axelrod, the assistant commerce secretary for export enforcement, told the American Jewish Committee on Thursday that those complying with the boycott will now be required to admit wrongdoing before settling charges with the US government, and that they will be subject to penalties if their foreign subsidiaries comply with the boycott.

Companies until now did not have to acknowledge participating in the boycott when they settled charges.

The boycott has existed since before Israel was established as a state and Congress made compliance illegal in the 1970s.

Axelrod, meeting with the AJC at its Washington, DC, office, said the boycott was weakening. Notably, he said, the four Arab countries that in 2020 normalized relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords are all members of the vaporous Arab League, and have all discarded the boycott.

Other countries were recommitting to their Israel boycotts, however, he said.

"Holdouts, like Assad’s Syria, have categorically rejected ’normalization’ with Israel," Axelrod said, according to an AJC release. "And in May, Iraq passed a law that even criminalizes normalization of relations with Israel."

"This recent doubling down on anti-Israeli sentiment by countries like Syria and Iraq comes at a time of shocking growth in antisemitism — what AJC notes as the world’s oldest hatred — more broadly, both here in the United States and around the globe," Axelrod said.

Axelrod’s briefing with the AJC was the first under the group’s new CEO, former Democratic Congressman Ted Deutch.

Deutch said battling the boycott was still important, even as it becomes less relevant.

"Despite warming relations some Arab nations have with Israel, the Arab League needlessly persists in this boycott, which has done nothing to hinder Israel from becoming an economic powerhouse in the Middle East," Deutch said.

"We applaud the Commerce Department’s efforts to sanction American firms that bow to the demands of, or seek to curry favor with boycotting nations. They must be held accountable for activities that help spread anti-Zionist sentiment," he said.

'They will fail': Imran Khan claims 'four people' plotting to assassinate him
[GEO.TV] PTI Chairman Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
claimed Friday that four people were planning to assassinate him, and if something happens to him, he would release their names.

"The tape, which includes the names of four people, will be released if something happens to me," the former prime minister — who is embroiled in the recent audio leaks controversy — said while addressing a jalsa in Mianwali.

This is not the first time that the PTI chairman has claimed that his life is under threat, as after his ouster from the Prime Minister's Office, Khan and his party's leaders have time and again stated that plans were being hatched to assassinate him.

In light of the threats to him, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had also ordered to beef up the security given to his predecessor, following which nearly 100 police personnel were provided to keep Khan safe.

Without providing the names of the people planning to have him killed, Khan told today's jalsa that if he were to be assassinated, then the people behind the plot will claim that a "religious fanatic has killed me".

"The people making plans against me will fail," the PTI chairman said, who has been at loggerheads with the incumbent government and plans to hold a long march seeking to oust the rulers from office.

Hinting that his party workers and leaders would not heed the government's threats of putting them behind bars and thwarting his "Azadi March", Khan said: "We are planning to start a 'fill the jail campaign'."

The PTI chairman added that the incumbent rulers were appointing their "own people" to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

Providing the reason behind the appointments, the former prime minister said that the rulers wanted to have their corruption cases disposed of.

Khan added that since the government was "facing defeat" at every front, it was leaking "fake" audios.

The audio leaks saga has been making the headlines in recent days and they are not only restricted to Khan's PTI, but soundbites of government officials — including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif — have also been leaked.

Swat residents warn of vigilantism if terror activities not reined in
[Dawn] A large number of people erupted into the streets in Swat
...a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistain, located 99 mi from Islamabad. It is inhabited mostly by Pashto speakers. The place has gone steadily downhill since the days when Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat...
on Friday demanding of the government to take decisive action against "anti-peace elements" in the valley while warning that they might take up arms to tackle bandidos gunnies if the authorities failed to play their due role.

The demonstrators gathered at Matta Chowk in the Khwazakhela tehsil of Swat this afternoon. It was the sixth protest by the locals since the resurfacing of the terror activities in the month of August.

The protest was jointly organised by two local organizations — Swat Olasi Pasoon and Swat Quami Jirga. A large number of people, including the youth and elders, with leaders of different political parties excepting the PTI took part in the protest.

The protesters said they would no longer tolerate terror activities as well as the presence of bandidos gunnies in the valley. They also called out the government for allegedly blocking internet in most parts of Swat.

"The law enforcement agencies and the state institutions must keep in their minds that the people of Swat are peace loving and they will never tolerate terrorism on their land in any form and by anyone," said PkMAP leader, Sher Bahadar, as he addressed the protesters.

Iraq
Car bomb kills former PUK counter-terrorism official in Erbil
Politics, Kurdish style.
[Rudaw] A car went kaboom! in the Kurdistan Region’s capital of Erbil on Friday afternoon, killing the driver and injuring several others. The Region’s counter-terrorism directorate (CTD) said the earth-shattering kaboom was due to a "sticky bomb" attached to the vehicle.

The explosion occurred in Erbil city’s 32 Park neighborhood and targeted the car of a former Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) counter-terrorism official named Hawkar Abdullah, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw told Rudaw.

Khoshnaw confirmed that the earth-shattering kaboom was a bomb that was installed to the bottom of the vehicle and said that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Kurdistan CTD said the earth-shattering kaboom was caused by a "sticky bomb" that killed the driver of the vehicle and maimed four passengers — two women and two children.

Rudaw understands that Abdullah was the head of the PUK's intelligence and counter-terrorism directorate in Nineveh, but ceased assuming the position after the internal issues inside the PUK began last year.

The PUK was rocked by a power struggle in July 2021 as Bafel Talabani ousted his co-president and cousin Lahur Talabany. Bafel Talabani said the shakeup was to end abuse of party positions such as smuggling and extortion.

The cousins’ internal issues eascalated when Bafel Talabani decided to change the heads of the PUK’s intelligence agency and counter-terrosim units, who were affiliated to Lahur Talabany, replacing them with people loyal to himself.

Lahur Talabany later in the day extended his condolences to Abdullah’s family, calling on the relevant authorities to swiftly arrest the perpetrators of the attack.

"The incident has saddened me to the core... I have contacted the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region [Masrour Barzani] and requested him to reveal the perpetrators of this terrorist act to the public opinion as soon as possible," read a statement from Lahur Talabany.

Reporters and media teams on the scene of the incident were met with battery and violence from the security forces, including Rudaw’s cameraman Ahmad Younis who was violent mostly peacefully attacked.

Metro Center for Journalists Right and Advocacy condemned the attack on Younis and other instances of brutality by security actors against media personnel, saying "depriving journalists of information during emergencies is depriving people of the right to know and understand the events and make decisions about them."

Kurdistan Journalists’ Syndicate (KJS) on Thursday said the Region in 2021 reported 79 cases of violations, including insults, attacks and beating, committed against 187 journalists and media outlets.

Car bombs in the Kurdistan Region’s cities are a rare occurrence.

In June, a member of an Iranian-Kurdish opposition organization was injured in a boom-mobile in Erbil's Setaqan neighborhood.
Al Ahram adds:
The driver who was killed was an officer in the Kurdish counter-terrorism services in the city of Sulaimaniyah, southeast of the Kurdish capital Arbil, a security official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

[Rudaw] One of Iran’s most prominent religious orators and a favorite of the country’s supreme leader took part in the operation against Kurdish opposition parties last week which took the life of a one-day-old baby, as domestic anti-government protests show no sign of stopping.

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Tasnim News published a video showing Haj Mahdi Rasuli
...apparently religious singers don’t get collected in the Rantburg archives, however lovely their voices...
preparing long missiles and then firing heavy artillery towards locations in the Kurdistan Region.

In the video, Rasuli chants along with soldiers praising Prophet Mohammed’s grandson, Imam Hussein, in an undisclosed location near Iran’s border with the Kurdistan Region as multiple rocket launchers in the background fire missile after missile towards the Region.

The IRGC has shelled the border areas in the Kurdish region for the past 12 days. The guards fired 72 short range ballistic missiles and scores of suicide drones on September 28 at camps and positions of the Kurdish opposition parties, killing one child and at least 16 adults including two women.

Rasuli is considered a favorite
fellator
orator of Lord High Potentate and Supreme Leader of All He Surveys Ali Khamenei
...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...
and orated to him in August during the mourning ceremony of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad, revered by all Moslems and subject to annual 40 days of mourning by Shiite Moslems.

The reasons behind Tasnim News publishing the video one week after the operation are unclear; however the underlying religious connotations are evident. This is not the first time the IRGC associates attacks against Kurds to religion. In fact, last week’s operation was code-named "Ya RasullAllah," a reference to Prophet Mohammed.

The authorities in Tehran have been under constant pressure from angry protesters across the country over the last three weeks following the death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a young Kurdish woman, while in police custody in Tehran.

At least 154 people have died including a number of security forces and paramilitary Basij as well as a number of teenagers. Thousands of protesters are detained including scores of journalists and women rights activist muppets.

Ayatollah Khamenei ignored the demands of the protesters when he spoke on Monday and instead blamed the US, Israel, and "treacherous Iranians" living abroad for fomenting unrest in the country.

Mahdi Rasuli was born in 1988 in Zanjan near Tehran and his father was killed two years later in Kurdistan province according to a report in ILNA.

Iranian-American national flies out of Iran after six years in captivity
What ransom was paid?
[Rudaw] An elderly dual American-Iranian national held in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
for over six years has left the country after obtaining permission to do so for medical treatment abroad, arriving in Oman on Wednesday.

Baquer Namazi, 85, is a former UNICEF official who was recently granted permission to leave the country after being released on medical leave back in 2018 while his son was held in Tehran’s infamous Evin prison.

Namazi's son, Siamak, was also released from prison on Saturday, according to the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
Jared Genser, a Washington-based lawyer representing the Namazi family, announced that "after a short layover, he [Baquer] will be leaving Oman and heading to Abu Dhabi."

Baquer was arrested in Iran on February 2016 after traveling to the country to urge for the release of his son, after which both men were sentenced to ten years for espionage.

According to Perseus Strategies, a law firm representing the family, Baquer suffers from a severe blockage to his left internal carotid artery (ICA), which significantly increases the chances of a stroke. His health deteriorated over the course of his indictment.

In Abu Dhabi, Namazi is scheduled to undergo an emergency carotid endarterectomy, a procedure used to treat carotid artery disease. Last October, he underwent a similar life-threatening procedure in Iran.

Rojava lacks legitimacy to prosecute ISIS prisoners, says lawyer
[Rudaw] The Kurdish administration in northeast Syria (Rojava) does not have the capacity to prosecute Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) prisoners detained in the administration’s prisons because it is not a state, a lawyer representing a number of the murderous Moslems told Rudaw on Tuesday.
That is clearly one lawyer’s opinion. Should that not work, he’ll be sure to find another.
Kamal Akef, the Kurdish administration’s foreign affairs spokesperson, told North Press Agency (NPA) on Monday that they were preparing to conduct trials for a number of ISIS members detained in Rojava’s prisons, without specifying the date of these trials or the nationality of the bad boys.

"I am aware of the efforts made by the Rojava authorities to provide legal and judicial requirements to guarantee the freedom and rights of prisoners. But the current obstacle is that Rojava is not a state today, and it is not part of the international community," Etienne Mangeot, a French lawyer representing a number of the ISIS murderous Moslems told Rudaw’s Hussein Omar on Tuesday.

"So it cannot provide guarantees of respect for rights and freedom in a legitimate way," he added.

The French lawyer added that he does not expect his country to use the Kurdish administration as a contractor in the judicial process of French citizens imprisoned in Rojava, when it has the complete legal capacity to try them itself.

The Rojava administration has been attempting to try ISIS prisoners for years, but the process has been hindered by obstacles posed by international law.

Hassan al-Ahmad, co-chair of the Kurdish administration’s social justice council, said in July that the mechanism to try ISIS members "is still under discussion between the administration and the global coalition."

There are over 10,000 ISIS prisoners from more than 50 different nationalities in Rojava, and ISIS-affiliated families make up the majority of the population of the notorious al-Hol camp which consists of about 56,000 people.

Iran state TV airs alleged 'confessions' of two detained French nationals
[Rudaw] Iranian state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
broadcast Thursday what it said were "confessions" by two Frenchies, five months after they were arrested in the Islamic republic.

In a video aired on the Arabic-language al-Alam channel, French teachers' union official Cecile Kohler is heard saying that she is an "agent of the DGSE" French intelligence service.

Kohler and her partner Jacques Gay Paree have been detained in Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
since May 7 and stand accused by authorities of seeking to stir labour unrest during a wave of teachers' strikes earlier this year.

Iran said later that it had arrested two Frenchies who had entered the country on tourist visas.

The pair were "accused of association and collusion with the aim of undermining the security of the country", judiciary front man Massoud Setayeshi said in July.

La Belle France has condemned the arrest of Kohler and Gay Paree as "baseless" and has called for their immediate release.

In the recording released Thursday, Kohler says the couple were in Iran "to prepare the conditions for the revolution and the overthrow of the Iranian Islamist regime".

She said they had planned to finance strikes and demonstrations and even use weapons "to fight against the police".

According to Jacques Gay Paree, who was also shown in the video, the DGSE's objectives "were to put pressure on the Iranian government".

Kohler and Gay Paree are among the latest Western citizens to be detained in Iran, in what activist muppets claim is a deliberate policy to extract concessions from the West -- accusations rejected by Tehran.

- 'EXTRACTING CONFESSIONS' -
Rights groups based outside Iran have repeatedly accused the Islamic republic of extracting "confessions" from detained foreigners and Iranian campaigners under duress and then broadcasting them on state media as a propaganda tool.

A 2020 report by the Gay Paree-based International Federation for Human Rights and its member organization Justice for Iran said Iranian state media had broadcast over 350 such confessions in the space of a decade.

It said such "confessions" were "systematically broadcast" by Iranian state-owned media "to instill fear and repress dissent" and victims had been "subjected to torture and ill-treatment".

Thursday's broadcast comes amid a crackdown on the most recent protest movement in which security forces have also arrested nine foreigners -- including from La Belle France, Germany, Italia, the Netherlands and Poland.

Iran's judicial authority issued an order in October 2020 banning torture, the use of "forced confessions", solitary confinement, illegal police custody and other violations of defendants' rights.

That came a week after controversy sparked by videos posted on social media showing coppers beating detainees in pickup trucks in the middle of a street.
