#1  Billy Burke, I am sorry but I confused you with Lillian Gish,
She also was definitely another charming dish,
My memory failed me and with age and was troublesome and acting devilish,

I will try hard to not let it happen again and again,
A string tied around my little fat pinkie will help to remind then,
Maybe I can get help by taking up the practice of Zen,

Your drape was titillating and a tease,
Next time you might consider leaving it at home, Please,
For the short time you reveal your charms, you will not freeze, you will not get the sniffles and sneeze,

You might consider revealing your tantalizing pulchritude,
I promise you, here you will not get booed,
The people at Rantburg might challenge you on your statements, thoughts and reasoning but they are not rude,

It is your misfortune that you have encountered me this early today,
My doggerel is not nearly as pleasing as you, I pray,
There are only fifteen words in the English language that don’t rhyme, they say,
So there may be more pain to endure and pay,
Thank you for beginning and making my day!

Zintan claims further advances against Gharian
[Libya Herald] Zintani‐led forces claim to have repulsed an attempt yesterday by Gharian turbans to take over a camp near Bir Ghanem as well as to have seized another one controlled by the Gharianis on the road to Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and shot down a helicopter belong to Libya Dawn
...aka Fajr Libya, the Islamist operation launched to counter that of General Khalifa Haftar (Operation Dignity). It is made up of the Libya Shield militia (Misrata and Moslem Brotherhood), Libya Revolutionaries Operations Room (Moslem Brotherhood), and Tripoli Brigade (close to Abdul Hakim Belhaj, head of Al-Watan party). Financing and moral support come from Turkey and Qatar...
According to a Zintani source, there were festivities in three areas yesterday following the reported advance by Zintani and Warshefana forces against Libya Dawn supporters from Gharian, Zawia and Janzour on Sunday. The source said that a number of men had been killed or injured but would not say how many.

The festivities appear to be linked to two military operations ‐ one a response by Libya Dawn to Sunday's advance by the Warshefana and Zintanis, and the other a bid by the latter to cut the main road between Gharian and Tripoli and isolate the Gharianis.

In the first, according to the Zintan source, Ghariani forces and their allies tried unsuccessfully to take over the Bu Sheiba agricultural project between Gharian and Bir Ghanem held by the Zintanis. There were also festivities at a location near Gharian named as Ras Al-Efaa (Head of the Snake) when the Gharianis attempted to send reinforcements from there to Bu Sheiba.

The source claimed that the reinforcements were forced to flee to the Libya Dawn-held part of Aziziya district.

The second bout of fighting took place at Umm Al-Garoun, near the road to Tripoli and until now controlled by the Gharianis. The Zintanis claim to have taken it.

They also claim to have shot down a helicopter flying overhead during the fighting. According to the source, it was initially thought that the helicopter, which he said had come from Mitiga, was monitoring Zintani movements and relaying the information to Libya Dawn. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
subsequent inspection of the wreckage showed that it contained arms and missiles.

It has not been possible to confirm the Zintani claims.

Sanaa suicide bomber kills at least 40
At least 40 people in Sanaa, Yemen's capital, have been killed by a suicide bomb attack on supporters of a Shia rebel group. The blast hit as hundreds of people were arriving in Tahrir Square for a protest called by the Houthis.

A policeman who witnessed the attack said a man wearing an explosive belt had approached a Houthi checkpoint at the entrance to Tahrir Square. "He then exploded amid the security and ordinary people nearby," he said.

Later, a suicide bomb attack on an army checkpoint in the eastern province of Hadramawt killed 20 soldiers. A tank and two army vehicles were destroyed when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-filled car outside the city of Mukalla.

29 dead in Yemen attacks, clashes
[ARABNEWS] Suspected Al-Qaeda murderous Moslems carried out simultaneous attacks Wednesday on a half-dozen Yemeni security and government offices in a province south of the capital Sanaa, setting off festivities that left at least 29 people dead, security officials said.

In a statement, the Interior Ministry said 14 troops and 15 assailants died in the attacks and ensuing festivities in central Baida province. Other security officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that at least three civilians also were killed.

The ministry said the attackers besieged the province's security headquarters, a special forces camp, an intelligence agency office and other government offices using boom-mobiles and gunfire. Troops fired back and thwarted the assailants' attempt to take over the offices, it said.

The security officials who spoke to AP said the targets included a government communication office and an Education Ministry administrative building. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Yemeni Iranian catspaws dug in their heels Wednesday after rejecting the newly named premier, stirring fears of further violence as Al-Qaeda and tribes accused security forces of favouring the Lion of Islams.

President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi late Tuesday named his chief of staff Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak as the new prime minister, after a UN-brokered peace deal agreed on September 21, the day the Houthi

Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. rebels overran the capital unopposed.

The accord provided for a rebel withdrawal from Sanaa once a neutral premier was named, for their disarmament and for the political transition to be revitalized.

Suspect Held For Planned Attack On Jewish Center In Buenos Aires
[IsraelTimes] Argentinian anti-terror police on Wednesday jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
a man suspected of planning to attack a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires.

Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
's national security secretary, Sergio Berni, said that police received an alert a week ago from Interpol of a possible plot to attack the Sociedad Hebraica. "A week ago we received from Interpol offices in Manchester an alert about a possible attack against Sociedad Hebraica (Jewish community center) in Buenos Aires City," Berni said to news hounds.

The suspect, 57, was arrested Tuesday at an Internet cafe in Buenos Aires by the Anti-Terrorist Division of the Federal Police.

Berni declined to provide additional details other than to say that 1,500 security personnel had been deployed to 99 sites in the last week, which coincided with the Jewish High Holidays season. After a bomb threat posted on Facebook last week, the Sociedad Hebraica was evacuated last Thursday night (October 2) and was closed the following day (on the eve of Yom Kippur) for security reasons.

"We are very satisfied by the actions of the police and the Justice Ministry in this case," Julio Schlosser, the president of Argentina's political umbrella group, DAIA, told Argentine media.

Buenos Aires was the site of two major attacks on Jewish sites in the 1990s. A 1992 attack on the Israeli Embassy killed 29. The 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish center left 85 dead.

Argentinian prosecutor Alberto Nisman traced the authorization for the July 18, 1994 terrorist attack to a meeting of Iran's National Security Council held a year before, and compiled sufficiently compelling evidence of Iran's role in the crime as to have several leading Iranian figures, including former defense minister Ahmad Vahidi and last year's failed presidential candidate Mohsen Rezai, placed on an Interpol "red notice" list.

The final decision to attack the AMIA center was allegedly made by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and then-president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani
... the fourth President of Iran. He was a member of the Assembly of Experts until he was eased out in 2011 He continues, for the moment, as Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council. In 2005 he ran for a third term as president, ultimately losing to rival Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was in Khamenei's graces back then. In 1980 Rafsanjani survived an assassination attempt, during which he was seriously injured. He has been described as a centrist and a pragmatic conservative without all that much reason. He is currently being eased out of any position of actual influence or power and may be dead by the end of 2012...

The specific motivation for the 1994 AMIA bombing, according to Nisman, was to punish Argentina for suspending its nuclear cooperation with Iran. Once the decision was taken to act against the country, Nisman told the Times of Israel last year, it was a Jewish target that was decided upon -- again, a familiar Iranian strategy. "When they choose to act against a country, the attack is commonly on the Jewish community," he said. "It's the first target."

Speaking with The Times of Israel soon after he issued a new 500-page report on the bombing and Iran's wider terrorist infiltration of South America, Nisman said that Tehran had established its terror networks for the strategic long term, ready to be used "whenever it needs them."

14 Wounded as Kurds and 'Radical Muslims' Clash in Germany
[AnNahar] Street festivities between hundreds of Kurds and radical Moslems in Germany's northern port city of Hamburg left 14 people maimed overnight, police said Wednesday.

About 400 Kurds had rallied Tuesday against the jihadist group Islamic State

(IS), whose fighters are besieging the Kurdish city of Kobane on the Syrian-Turkish border.

After the demonstrators gathered outside a Hamburg mosque, they were confronted by some 400 people described by police as mostly Salafist Moslems, and tensions escalated into violent festivities.

Police in riot gear used batons, pepper spray and water cannon to separate the groups of mostly young men who attacked each other using metal rods, sticks and machetes, as well as hurling rocks and bottles, local media reported.

Tensions between hundreds of Yazidi Kurds and mostly Chechen Moslem immigrants also escalated in the city of Celle in the northern state of Lower Saxony, local newspaper Cellesche Zeitung reported.

Riot police intervened against men armed with sticks, rocks and bottles, leaving several with slight injuries, the newspaper and public broadcaster NDR reported.

#3  Spengler pointed out some years ago that while Turkey's Turks are at a below-replacement birthrate, Turkey's Kurds' average birthrate is, as I recall, double that. And while Kobani may well be destroyed -- apparently it is not considered a strategic loss or something by our senior people -- Turkey has suddenly acquired a significant number of new Kurdish residents who may not be able to return to Syria.

Spengler argued that within two generations the Kurds may well inherit all of Turkey, or at least all of it that matters.

Bomb kills two polio vaccinators in Mohmand Agency
[NATION.PK] A roadside kaboom went kaboom! in Mohmand Agency
... Named for the Mohmand clan of the Sarban Pahstuns, a truculent, quarrelsome lot. In Pakistain, the Mohmands infest their eponymous Agency, metastasizing as far as the plains of Peshawar, Charsadda, and Mardan. Mohmands are also scattered throughout Pakistan in urban areas including Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta. In Afghanistan they are mainly found in Nangarhar and Kunar...
on Wednesday killing two off-duty polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set...
vaccinators and their relative, officials said.

The blast occurred in Ali Nagar village in the Mohammad tribal district along the Afghan border where Talibs are active. The bomb went off near the house of polio vaccinator Mohammad Gul who was out walking with his brother, also a polio worker, and his cousin, although it was not clear whether they were specifically targeted.

"Two polio workers and their cousin were killed in the kaboom," local government official Khushhal Khan told AFP. A local security official also confirmed the bombing and casualties. The dead bodies were shifted to tehsil hospital Safi. Soon after the blast, the security forces rushed towards the blast site and cordoned off the area and kicked off search operation, however, no arrest was made till filing this report.

Nobody grabbed credit for the bombing, but turbans have been aggressively targeting immunisation workers across Pakistain. The turbans allege polio vaccination is a cover for espionage or Western-conspiracy to sterilise Moslems. Those conspiracy theories gained further traction after the CIA recruited a local doctor to start a vaccination programme during the hunt for the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now sometimes referred to as Mister Bones...
which dismayed many aid and health workers.

Some 60 people including health workers and police providing security have been killed in hard boy attacks on polio vaccination teams since December 2012. Pakistain is one of three countries where polio is still categorised as an endemic viral infection. The other two countries are Afghanistan and Nigeria. The number of polio cases recorded in Pakistain passed 200 for the year last week, a 14-year-high. Officials said 136 of the new cases were recorded in the troubled north-western tribal areas that border Afghanistan.

US drone attack kills 2 in Pakistan's North Waziristan
[Iran Press TV] At least two people have been killed in a US liquidation drone strike in Pakistain's northwestern tribal region.

Being the fifth drone attack in four days, the Wednesday strike targeted the North Wazoo region near the border with Afghanistan.

In an earlier attack on Tuesday, an unmanned US aerial vehicle fired missiles at a compound in the village of Kund Ghar of the mountainous Shawal area in the North Waziristan, claiming the lives of at least six people.

In reaction to the rising fatalities of the recent spell of US aerial attacks, Paks erupted into the streets in Multan in Punjab province on Wednesday, shouting anti-US slogans and burning a US flag.

Fearing the rapid escalation of US fatal drone strikes, hundreds of thousands of men, women and kiddies are fleeing their homes in North Waziristan, which borders Afghanistan, to the city of Bannu, located some 240 kilometers (150 miles) north of the capital Islamabad, and other neighboring regions.

group on Wednesday shot down an Iraqi military attack helicopter, killing the two pilots on board in the second such incident in a week and raising concerns about the holy warriors' ability to attack aircraft amid ongoing US-led Arclight airstrikes.

According to two Iraqi officials, the turbans used a shoulder-fired missile to take down the Bell 407 helicopter, which crashed just north of the refinery town of Beiji, located about 200 kilometers (130 miles) north of Baghdad.

The pilot and co-pilot were both killed in the attack, a military aviation official told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. A Defense Ministry official confirmed the information. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

About the missiles, Iraqui soldiers have deserted en masse abandonning their equipment. But of course, some of it could come of some program for helping Syrian rebels.

group grabbed credit for a Tuesday night kaboom at the French Cultural Center in Gazoo City, according to an unverified proclamation published Wednesday morning in the Strip.

The announcement said this was "the debut operation for the Islamic State group in the Gazoo Strip."

Around midnight local time, several kabooms rocked the French Cultural Center, causing damage but no casualties. The center resides in an upscale new building built two years ago.

The French Cultural Center in Gazoo conducts French language courses and transfers visa applications for La Belle France from local residents to the French Consulate in Jerusalem for processing.

Due to the late hour, there was no one at the site. Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, sources rushed to play down the incident and released reports that the center's generator went kaboom! setting fire to gas tanks stored nearby. Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Bugs Moroni was holding Slats from behind while his brother Greasy Thumb was pounding his face into paste ...
the Interior Ministry's spokesperson noted that an investigation was launched into the incident.

The declaration released Wednesday morning was topped with the recognizable Islamic State group's logo. "Our fighters successfully bombed the center for immorality and heresy known as the French Cultural Center after weeks of surveillance."

The proclamation claimed the kaboom was caused by a 200 kilogram payload hidden at the site near the facility's gas tanks. The tanks were intended to supply emergency power to the generators in case of electricity shortages.

Though the announcement attempts to lay claim to the group's first attack in Gazoo, it is signed with the incorrect date ‐ October 10 ‐ three days after the alleged attack.

The veracity of the declaration has yet to be verified. While this would be the first time the Islamic State group's grabbed credit for a bombing in Gazoo, other radical Salafi organizations have existed in the Strip for years ‐ operating with the same intent as the Islamic State.

One of these factions was responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Italian activist Vittorio Arrigoni three years ago in the Strip. Hamas has maintained a close watch over these groups who see the Strip's rulers as "too liberal and moderate" and have tried to topple the established terror organization.

Arab Teens Attack Jewish Youth In Jerusalem's Old City
[IsraelTimes] A group of Arab teenagers in Jerusalem's Old City attacked a Jewish youth Wednesday evening as the Jewish holiday of Sukkot began, and were later enjugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
by police.

The youth was unharmed and did not need medical attention, Israel Radio reported.

Also Wednesday evening, police arrested two Arab teenagers on suspicion of throwing rocks at a Jewish-owned car near the city's Pisgat Zeev neighborhood. No injuries were reported in the suspected attack.

Earlier, police and masked rioters clashed on the Temple Mount, as tensions ramped up ahead of the holiday

Rioters were chased by police into the al-Aqsa Mosque, located on the Mount's esplanade, after fighting broke out following the opening of a gate for non-Moslem visitors.

Protesters inside the mosque tried to spray flammable liquid out of windows toward officers.

They also threw Molotov cocktails from within the mosque for the first time, according to Israel Radio.

Four coppers were maimed in the festivities, and 15 arrests were made, according to police.

The Paleostinian Ma'an news agency reported dozens of Paleostinians were maimed in the festivities.

The agency reported a fire broke out in the mosque after a stun grenade was thrown by coppers.

The fighting began when masked youths threw stones, iron bars, cinder blocks and Molotov cocktails at coppers as the Mughrabi Gate opened to non-Moslem visitors earlier in the day.

Police chased the demonstrators toward the Al-Aqsa mosque, where they barricaded themselves inside and continued hurling objects in the direction of the police, said police spokeswoman Luba Samri.

Samri said the Paleostinians had prepared for the confrontation ahead of time, and had set up obstacles at the holy site to slow down police. She said the Paleostinians threw Molotov cocktails and rocks at police from within the mosque.

Police responded with "nonlethal riot control means," Samri said.

A radical Islamic holy man in Israel, Raed Salah, had called on Moslems to be present at the mosque Wednesday morning. About 30 young Paleostinians slept the night before at the mosque in preparation for the confrontation, according to Paleostinian eyewitnesses.

The skirmish came as Israeli Jews prepared for the holiday of Sukkot, which began Wednesday night. Many Jews have the custom of visiting the Temple Mount on holiday eves, ramping up tensions on the contested site.

The Mughrabi Gate has been the site of frequent festivities between Israeli security forces and Moslem worshipers, due to a commonly perceived belief among the local Islamic community of Jewish encroachment onto the Temple Mount.

Last month saw violent festivities in and around the Temple Mount compound ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday.

The festivities came amid an uptick in inter-ethnic violence in Jerusalem over the past several months, with incidents of East Jerusalem rioters hurling stones and Molotov cocktails and using fireworks as a weapon.

Police have cracked down on the protests, arresting suspected rioters in overnight sweeps and bolstering their presence in flashpoint areas.

Police said Wednesday they had arrested two men in their 20s for throwing stones at passing cars and the Jerusalem light rail.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered police to up patrols in East Jerusalem Tuesday, saying he would not allow riots to become the norm, Israel Radio reported.

The Temple Mount, which holds the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque, is considered the third-holiest site in Islam and the holiest site for Jews as it was the location of the two ancient Jewish temples.

In September, an addition to the Mughrabi Bridge meant to boost the flow of non-Moslem visitors to the Temple Mount was dismantled after it was deemed "illegal" by Netanyahu. The move, which was praised by Jordan and the Islamic authorities of the site, was seen by some as an attempt to decrease tensions.

Throwing Molotov cocktails from a 'mosque' and the mosque should lose it's 'holy site' (or perhaps in this case 'unholy site') designation and be subject to search, seizure, vacancy, etc... just like every other building.

Airstrikes Push Islamic State Jihadists Back In Syrian Town
[IsraelTimes] New US-led Arclight airstrikes near the Syrian border town of Kobani have helped Kurdish fighters push back the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group a day after it appeared on the verge of seizing the town, the fate of which has emerged as a key test of whether coalition air power can roll back the holy warrior group.

The new wave of Arclight airstrikes came as several Syrian human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
groups called on the world to save the embattled town from falling into the hands of the Islamic State group, whose fighters have broken through Kurdish defenders' front lines and entered parts of the town over the last two days.

The US-led coalition has launched a series of strikes aimed at preventing the holy warrior group from seizing Kobani. An activist group said the strikes killed at least 45 Islamic State holy warriors since late Monday, forcing the group to withdraw from parts of the town.

"The Arclight airstrikes have helped. They were good strikes but not as effective as we want them to be," said Idriss Nassan, deputy head of Kobani's foreign relations committee. "Kobani is still in danger and the Arclight airstrikes should intensify in order to remove the danger."

"They [militants] have retreated inside the city because of the Arclight airstrikes and because of the ambushes that members of the People's Protection Units carried out, killing many of Daesh's fighters," he said, referring to the main Syrian Kurdish militia and using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State group.

Over the past few days thousands of Islamic State fighters armed with heavy weapons looted from captured army bases in Iraq and Syria managed to push into parts of the town, which is located on the Syria-Turkish border and is also known by the Arabic name of Ayn Arab.

The Islamic State group has tightened the noose around Kobani since mid-September, when it launched a blitz in which it captured several nearby Kurdish villages and brought Syria's civil war yet again to Turkey's doorstep.

The US Central Command said in a statement that several Arclight airstrikes were launched near Kobani since Tuesday. It said four Arclight airstrikes south of Kobani destroyed an Islamic State group armored personnel carrier, an artillery piece and three armed vehicles, damaging a fourth. It said a fifth Arclight airstrike destroyed an armed vehicle and a sixth destroyed an artillery piece.

Since Monday night, the strikes have killed 45 Islamic State fighters in and around Kobani, targeting 20 separate locations and destroying at least five of their vehicles, said the Britannia-based Observatory, which relies on a network of activists inside Syria.

The Arclight airstrikes also forced Islamic State fighters to withdraw from several streets they had controlled earlier, the Observatory added.

The group said that an Islamic State suicide kaboomer set off a truck bomb in the town's industrial neighborhood Wednesday. It had no immediate word on casualties.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Sergeant Maloney wasn't buying it. It was just too pat. The whole thing smelled phony, kind of like a dead mackeral but without the scales...
an attack apparently carried out by Kurdish fighters inside the town destroyed a mosque minaret, which the Islamic State group had used as an outlook, activists said.

Heavy gunfire was heard from inside the town in a sign of fresh festivities Wednesday.

The advances by the Kurdish fighters came a day after Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
said the town was about to fall and that the aerial campaign alone would not be able to save it.

Turkish ground forces and tanks have been stationed along the border since the fighting began but have not intervened. Turkey has long distrusted the People's Protection Units, known as the YPG, viewing them as an extension of the Kurdish PKK, which waged a long and bloody insurgency against Ankara.

Turkey has said it does not want the town to fall. It has encouraged the US to set up a no-fly zone and a humanitarian corridor, as well as ramp up assistance to Syrian rebels battling to overthrow Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
. The rebels also distrust the YPG, which they allege has conspired with Assad, allegations the Kurdish fighters deny.

On Wednesday, a Kurdish activist said he was detained by Turkish authorities along with 157 residents from Kobani and other activists shortly after they crossed into Turkey three days ago. Mustafa Bali said the detainees include 33 women and nine children.

Bali said the activists were to escort Kurdish civilians to safety in Turkey and then cross back.

"They allowed us to cross and once we were in Turkey they detained us," Bali said, speaking to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named over the phone from a school in the Turkish border village of Ali Kor.

ISIS withdraws from some parts of Kobane
Militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria group withdrew from some parts of the embattled Syrian town of Kobane overnight after air strikes by a U.S.-led coalition, Agence France-Presse reported a monitor as saying on Wednesday.

Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said "fighters from the Islamic State withdrew overnight from several areas in the east of Ain al-Arab (Kobane) and the southwestern edges", Al Arabiya reported.

After the pullback, the group's fighters were present in eastern parts of the strategic town and its southern edges, but were no longer inside on the western front, Abdel Rahman said. He said the move came after "their rear positions were hit in strikes, causing casualties and damaging at least four of their vehicles."

ISIS fighters entered Kobane, also known as Ain al-Arab, on Monday night, after nearly three weeks of fighting around the town on the Syria-Turkey border.
