Afghanistan
Afghan Minister of Defense Could Sign BSA: Kerry
[Tolo News] U.S. Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
suggested on Tuesday that the Afghan Defense Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi could, instead of a reluctant President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
... A former Baltimore restaurateur, now 12th and current President of Afghanistan, displacing the legitimate president Rabbani in December 2004. He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. His grip on reality has been slipping steadily since around 2007, probably from heavy drug use...
, sign the Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) that would enable some U.S. troops to stay in the country post-2014.

#2  Kerry said. It doesn't have to be the "president," he said, not finishing the word. "You know, his minister of defense can sign it, the government can sign it, somebody can accept responsibility for this," Kerry added.

A sort of "stand-down" order.... in reverse ?

#3  Like him or hate him, Karzai is the Afghan Prez - this effort to ignore or bypass Karzai is derogatory + offensive.

Iff anything, this brouhaha shows or infers that AFGHANISTAN/AFPAK = IRAQ = THE BAMMER SEEMINGLY DESIRES OR PRIORITIZES THE PULLOUT US TROOPS WHILE LEAVING A WEAK OR UNSTABLE DOMESTIC GOVT. [Army?] IN PLACE.

A recipe for post-2014 Militant domination of the Kabul = AFPAK Govt(s)???

The Bammer may had killed Osama + other, but he is still far far away from defeating the premises + causes of Jihad, or in the alternat imposing an effective substitute which the Hard Boyz can accept.

Operators are providing testimony. Decision makers are nowhere to be found. Quite revealing I'd say.

#7  No Airandee, don't believe there was any mention of the clip.

Another non-mention in tonight's news would be the fact that the racist, apartheid leadership of South Africa was (and remains) the only country with a fully developed nuclear capability that disassembled and destroyed it. And as it happened, a wise move it was. All just prior to their attainment of non-pluralist democracy.

#8  And the Bammer's lies about Obamacare???

Dem personages can say publicly that the Bammer knowingly lied about O-care widout any fear of impeachment, as due to the deadlocked Congress which the Bammer is fully exploiting to the advantage of post-2015, "borderless" anti-sovereign anti-Constitional anti-Electoral anti-American/Amerikan OWG Globalism, not just per upcoming Midterms + 2016.

Church objections halt the printing of draft constitution
[Egypt Independent] The Committee of 50 suspended on Wednesday the printing of the draft constitution for the second time in a row after church representatives in the committee discovered at a dinner held by General Magd Eddin Barakat, the armed forces representative, that the wording of the constitution had been altered after the committee already come to an agreement.

The alterations include the term "civilian rule," which had been changed to "civilian government," and the phrase "diversity of Sharia sources," which had been deleted from the interpretation of the Sharia principles.

The church representatives voiced that the new term meant Egypt would have a civilian cabinet but not necessarily civilian rule. "This is fraud," said Safwat al-Bayadi, representative of the Anglican Church.

Committee Chairman Jerry Lewis doppelgänger Amr Moussa
... who was head of the Arab League for approximately two normal lifespans, accomplishing nothing that was obvious to the casual observer ...
was prompted to listen to the recording of the final session.

Sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Moussa heard the session chairman read the term "civilian government" in the preamble and use the term "civilian rule" afterwards.

"We will study the matter and report to Moussa before the end of the month," said Mohammed Wagdy of the Shura Council's Information Center.

Committee spokesperson Mohammed Salmawy said the final voting session was broadcast live and nothing was changed. "The preamble was unanimously approved with the term 'civilian government,'" he said. "There is no difference between the two terms because it is not logical to have a military government under a civilian rule."

Asked if the term "civilian government" affects the defense minister position, Salmawy said the government is not measured in this manner. "It has to do with the government's orientation regardless of any holy man, military person or technocrat in it," he said.

In a related development, the committee said that the copy of the draft constitution posted on its Facebook page contained an error in Chapter VII Article 199 when it used the term "judicial aides" instead of "judicial experts" but that the version submitted to the president contained the correct term.

Trial of 62 pro-Morsy supporters in Ramses events adjourned to January
[Egypt Independent] The North Cairo Criminal Court decided on Wednesday to postpone the trial of 62 defendants from the first Ramses events to sessions on the 5, 6 and 9 January.

The court issued the order to listen to prosecution witnesses, examine case documents, and prepare the court hall with equipment in order to be able to show video evidence.

The 62 defendants, supporters of the Moslem Brüderbund, face charges of committing acts of violence and rioting in Ramses square in July following an attempt to break into Ezbakiya cop shoppe and target coppers with firearms and birdshot. The defendants were also charged with blocking the road leading to the 6th of October Bridge.

Two people were allegedly killed and nine others were reportedly maimed by the defendants during the large scale riots. Protestors had gathered in Ramses Square and then spread to surrounding areas and the 6th of October Bridge which saw much of the violence.

Bangladesh
Ershad threatens to commit suicide
[Bangla Daily Star] Jatiya Party
...aka Jatiya Front; a political party established by Bangladictator Lieutenant General Hussain Muhammad Ershad in 1986 to lend a veneer of respectability to his rule. Since nobody was amused he was forced to resign by popular demand in 1990. The party remains in existence with about a dozen seats in Bangla's parliament...
Chairman HM Ershad has threatened that he would shoot himself to death if any attempt is made to arrest him.

The former dictator made the statement before journalists hours after law enforcers cordoned off his house at Baridhara diplomatic zone in the capital in the wake of his announcement to stay away from the next parliamentary election.

Ershad went down to the ground floor of 'President Park', his house, at 11:10pm to talk with journalists who had been crowding there since yesterday afternoon to cover if Ershad was nabbed
Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try!

If the law enforcers tried to arrest him, he would kill himself with the four bullets loaded in his pistol, Bangla daily Prothom Alo quoted Ershad to be saying.

Saying that he was not fearing arrest though many were doing so, the JP chief said the country would be on fire if he was arrested, the Prothom Alo report added.

He said there was no-one beside him when he took the decision to boycott the upcoming parliamentary polls.

He took the right decision and would stick to that, Ershad insisted, the Prothom Alo report reads.

The JP chief also said his partymen were ready to take to the streets.

After the deployment of a large number of police and Rab at Ershad's house yesterday afternoon, a rumour spread fast that the former military strongman might be arrested.

A mid-ranking officer of a Rapid Action Battalion-1 team that entered the former dictator's house told The Daily Star that they went there to arrest the JP chief.

But Kismat Hayat, commanding officer of Rab-1, contradicted it, and said: "We are here to ensure his security since a large number of people are coming here since the noon."

Indian troops on Siachen Glacier an environmental threat: Aziz
[DAWN] Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday said presence of Indian forces on Siachen Glacier is a serious environmental threat to Pakistain.

He said Pakistain is a country facing water shortage and Indian troops are damaging on a daily basis the environment of Siachen, one of the largest sources of Pak waters.

Speaking to media representatives, Aziz termed the presence of Indian forces on Siachen a big issue and urged India to resolve it on a priority basis by pulling out its troops from the area.

He said items of daily use disposed of by thousands of Indian soldiers are threatening the existence of the glacier.

According to environmentalists, glacial retreat on Himalayas and Karakorum ranges has accelerated during the recent years due to human presence.
