#1  Note: Europe alone or its separate nations are so weak they will not play a role in the Libyan denouement. As it now stands, look for the combination of Israel-Egypt and perhaps some sattelites (including eventually the USA), to confront the Turkey-Qatar-Russia combo.

Inauguration of President-elect Tebboune: Algeria ushers in new era
[APS.DZ] The swearing-in ceremony will be attended by senior civilian and military officials of the country and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.

On Monday, the Constitutional Council announced the final results of the December 12th presidential election.

President Tebboune who won this election with 58.13% of votes cast, will take his office shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, in conformity with Article 89 of the Constitution which stipulates that the "President of the Republic takes oath before the people and in presence of the high authorities of the nation, in the week that follows the election. He will take office soon after the swearing in ceremony."

Tebboune, independent candidate, pledged to execute the 54 commitments contained in his electoral platform, namely "deep" reform of the Constitution which will help build a "new Republic."

He also committed to engage a "serious dialogue in the service of Algeria and only Algeria," with the main players of the popular movement Hirak.

Moreover, Tebboune declared that the fight against corruption will continue and that "the presidential pardon will not concern the individuals involved in cases of corruption."

The electoral platform of the president elect granted utmost priority to youth matters for he is committed to listening to this segment of society, announcing that the new government "will include young ministers."

Abdelmadjid Tebboune won the December 12 presidential election with 58.13% of votes cast, far ahead of the four other candidates; Abdelkader Bengrina (17.37% of votes), Ali Benflis (10.55%), Azzedine Mihoubi (7.28%) and Abdelaziz Belaid (6.67%).

Greater Tripoli welcomes decision by major cities to end the battle against Haftar
[Libya Observer] Municipalities of Greater Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, members of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, and elders and dignitaries of the capital have welcomed the state of full mobilization declared by most cities in western Libya to end Haftar's aggression.

In a statement Tuesday, components of Greater Tripoli called on the Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC) in his capacity as the commander-in-chief of the Libyan Army to issue instructions for general mobilization.

They stressed their adherence to the civilian authority and the refusal to military rule.

"There will be no future to Haftar in Libya after the war crimes he had committed, the statement stressed.

ICC warns Haftar: Watching closely recent attack on Tripoli
[Libya Observer] Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Fatou Bensouda has warned Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
that the ICC is watching closely his latest attack on Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
In a statement to La Belle France 24, she urged Haftar to arrest Mahmoud al-Werfalli and bring him to the ICC, noting that they had requested the assistance of particular countries for his arrest and extradition.

She also confirmed that they are continuing investigations of war crimes taking place in Libya renewing her request to extradite all wanted persons to the International Criminal Court.

Mexican children shiver in tents at US border as temperature freezes
[Jpost] Mexican officials concerned about the health of Mexican asylum seekers including around 200 young children sleeping in the open near the U.S. border in Ciudad Juarez tried to move people to shelters on Wednesday, as temperatures dropped below freezing.
Based on numbers seen here at Rantburg and elsewhere, up to a third of those children were actually sold or stolen on the presumption that families are more quickly processed by the Border Patrol, rather than related to those claiming to be their parents.
In recent months, Ciudad Juarez has seen a rapid increase in Mexicans seeking to apply for asylum in the United States, leading to a backlog in the city as U.S. border officials limit the number of asylum cases they receive at the port of entry each day.
...also, I’ve seen it claimed, more Africans and people from countries with jihadi problems...
A waiting list contains about 1,200 people, of which about 550 are staying in camps near the bridge to the United States, the Chihuahua state government said. Nearly half of those in the camps are children under the age of 12.

"For their own good, they can't be in these public spaces," said Enrique Valenzuela, who heads the civil protection services in Chihuahua state and was trying to persuade the migrants colonists to shift to shelters.

"It is for the good of their sons and daughters who are exposed to crime and above all the inclement weather."

Weather forecasts predict freezing temperatures in the Ciudad Juarez-El Paso area through the weekend.

Policies under U.S. President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
aimed at reducing the number of new arrivals in the United States have led to tens of thousands of mainly Central American asylum seekers living for months in Mexico as they await U.S. court dates or interviews with border officials.

Immigration advocates say the policies expose vulnerable populations to crime, extortion and the elements.

On Wednesday, a grandfather from the state of Zacatecas sat at a small grill where people were cooking breakfast, scrambling chili and eggs while his one-year old granddaughter sat in a chair bundled up in multiple sweaters.

The coffee he drank was made with water that was still frozen when they tried to pour it into a pot for boiling.

Giving only his first name for fear of reprisals, Rodrigo said he traveled with his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter to escape violence in their home state.

The family all slept in a tent together, insulating it with cardboard and sheets of plastic. As temperatures dropped to 24 Fahrenheit (-4 Celsius) in the early morning, the baby woke up crying, Rodrigo said.

His family had been waiting for more than two months to be called on the asylum list, Rodrigo said, and had no plans to leave for shelters despite the weather forecast.

"We have only ten families ahead of us on the list, so we’ll cross in the next eight days or so...if you’re not here for the roll call in the morning your family gets removed from the list after two or three absences," Rodrigo said.

One woman who declined to give her name said she was considering moving to another city to escape both the cold and what she feared were cartel members who had followed her from Guerrero state.

Other families said they would leave the camp, worried children would fall sick. Some families have decided to cross the border illegally rather than wait, they said.

Officials in Chihuahua state were seeking a meeting with their U.S. counterparts to discuss the situation in the camps, a Mexican official said, requesting anonymity. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not respond to a request for comment.

Europe
Hezbollah membership increasing in Germany ahead of ban vote
[Jpost] A non-binding German Bundestag initiative slated on Thursday to ban activities of the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah in the federal republic revealed that the number of Hezbollah operatives is increasing.

According to the resolution titled "Effective action against Hezbollah" reviewed by The Jerusalem Post, "the followers of [Hezbollah] are around 1,000 people in Germany since a number of years and have showed recently a rising trend."

According to German intelligence reports, there are as many as 1,050 documented Hezbollah members and 30 mosques and centers operated by Hezbollah supporters.

"In Germany there are currently about 30 known cultural and mosque associations in which a clientele regularly meets that is close to Hezbollah or its ideology," the city-state of Hamburg’s intelligence agency stated in 2019.

The Bundestag anti-Hezbollah resolution states that Germany’s federal Attorney General in 2018 has launched 36 investigations into individuals linked to Hezbollah.

Germany is a principal hub for Hezbollah’s illicit activities, including fundraising for its parent organization in Leb, as well as narcotics dealing.

Hezbollah recruits new members in Germany and spreads its antisemitic and jihadist ideology across the country.

The US, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Israel and the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
have designated Hezbollah’s entire movement a terrorist organization. Sudan reportedly will close Hezbollah’s office in the North African country.

In 2013, Germany and the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union merely proscribed Hezbollah’s so-called military wing as a terrorist entity after Hezbollah in 2012 blew up an Israeli tour bus in Burgas, Bulgaria, murdering five Israelis and their Bulgarian Moslem bus driver.

The Post has learned that in every meeting with German officials, US ambassador Richard Grenell raises the need for Berlin to ban all of Hezbollah. German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
has vehemently rejected a full ban of Hezbollah in Germany.
The Germans already find him annoying, which clearly doesn’t bother President Trump (tit for tat — Chancellor Merkel made it clear that she despises him long before they met formally), so he’s adding to it, it seems.
The current resolution against Hezbollah was authored by four mainstream parties in the Bundestag: The Christian Democratic Union, the Christian Social Union, the Social Democratic Party, and the Free Democratic Party.

It is unclear if Merkel will adopt the ban of Hezbollah activities in Germany. A German diplomatic official said in 2018 that a ban of Hezbollah is linked with the resolution of the Israel-Paleostinian grinding of the peace processor.

Pelosi hints at postponing the sending of articles of impeachment to the Senate.
[MAIL] House Democrats have begun pressing Speaker Nancy Pelosi to force the Senate to tailor Donald Trump's upcoming constitutional trial to their wishes‐by refusing to send the articles of impeachment they passed Wednesday night until Majority Leader Mitch McConnell agrees to their terms.

McConnell isn't amused. He plans to call her bluff in a mid-morning floor speech, saying she's afraid to hand him the baton because she knows the articles are weak.

'Pelosi suggested that House Democrats may be too afraid to even transmit their shoddy work product to the Senate,' he will say, mocking her suggesting in a post-vote press conference that she'll hold the two articles over McConnell's head until he agrees to a 'fair' trial.

The majority leader's staff began trickling out excerpts of his floor speech overnight.

Wednesday's landmark House votes put the capstone on 'the most rushed, least thorough, and most unfair impeachment inquiry in modern history,' he will say, calling Democrats' final condemnation of the president 'fundamentally unlike any articles that any prior House of Representatives has ever passed.'

#1  Just wait... there is more.

Indeed, Schumer and his colleagues have prepared the way to characterize any move to limit the trial’s scope as an effort to hide wrongdoing from the American people. “To engage in a trial without the facts coming out is to engage in a cover-up,” he said Monday.

The bottom line is: Republicans should not believe for one minute that the campaign to remove the president will rely only on the case Democrats have built in the House. Schumer and other party leaders will scramble for new information to throw at the president, and at Republicans, until it is over. The GOP, and the White House, need to be ready.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Hamas) in San Diego Saturday, but Location Kept Secret for Safety
[Times of San Diego] Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, the harsh critic of Israel, will speak at a Town Hall meeting Saturday in San Diego and visit with local groups Sunday, says the sponsoring Council on American-Islamic Relations chapter.

But the location won't be made public. Only paid registrants ‐ and some media outlets ‐ will learn the address, organizers said Tuesday.

"We have to protect our community. The white supremacists are a real threat," said Dustin Craun, executive director of CAIR's San Diego chapter.

Last week, the event advertised as "A Conversation with Rep. Rashida Tlaib" was approved for Westview High School one day and revoked the next by the Poway Unified School District, citing scheduled maintenance of the school's Performing Arts Center.

The timing was suspicious to CAIR, since a letter to Poway school officials had just been been sent by the Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund, alleging that Tlaib was anti-Semitic on account of her criticism of Israel and her talk should be canceled to spare a community recovering from April's killing at Chabad of Poway.

On Wednesday, Craun said in a news release: "Congresswoman Tlaib's message for our community echoes her work in Congress: to insist that all of us – Muslims, Jewish people, and all vulnerable communities ‐ are only safe if we protect each other, and we must resist all forms of racism together.

"Our community's experience could not make it more clear that the same white supremacist violence that threatens Jews, also threatens Muslims.

"The moral to the story is of course Islamophobia will not cancel Rep. Tlaib's visit to San Diego.'

Minnesota Muslim woman gets $120G settlement after claiming jail forced her to remove hijab
The soft jihad of the law...
[FoxNews] The Muslim woman who was forced to remove her hijab for a booking photo in a Minnesota jail received a $120,000 lawsuit settlement, her attorneys announced Tuesday.

Appearing with her attorneys at the Minneapolis headquarters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Aida Shyef Al-Kadi, of St. Louis Park, said her treatment in the Ramsey County jail was “one of the most humiliating and harmful experiences" of her life.

“I knew that I did not want any other Muslim woman to experience what I did,” she said during a news conference.

The 57-year-old was arrested in August 2013 after a judge issued a warrant over her failure to appear in court over a traffic offense while taking her daughter to the hospital, the Star Tribune reported.

When she turned herself in, she said she was forced to remove her hijab and abaya, a long dress covering her body in front of male jail workers. She said she was taken to a holding cell when she objected and she removed her hijab in front of a male jailer.

Al-Kadi agreed to remove the headscarf for her booking photo after she was told it would not be released. However, a month later, she found the photo on a third-party website that charges users to take them down.

Under the settlement, the jail has implemented rules to accommodate inmates with religious headwear when taking booking photos. The county also agreed to destroy hard copies and delete electronic copies of Al-Kadi's booking photo.

Man whose number found on NJ shooter was selling arms
[IsraelTimes] A bail hearing for a man whose number was found in the pocket of one of the perpetrators of last week’s fatal attack on a Jewish market is halted and abruptly postponed after prosecutors say they have evidence he was selling firearms from his pawn shop.

No date is immediately set for a new hearing.

Investigators had previously disclosed that they found several weapons in a search last week of Ahmed A-Hady’s home and a pawnshop owned by his family.

Today, prosecutors tell the federal judge they have evidence that A-Hady himself ‐ as opposed to other members of his family ‐ was buying and selling firearms.

A-Hady, 35, had been prohibited from possessing any firearms because of a previous felony conviction, prosecutors have said.

He hasn’t been charged with providing any of the weapons used in the December 10 Jersey City shootings by two attackers authorities say were motivated by anti-Jewish and anti-law enforcement hatred.

Four people were killed, including a Jersey City police detective who was shot before the attackers drove to the market.

A-Hady’s number was found in the pants pocket of David Anderson, one of two people killed by police after the hours-long standoff at the JC Kosher Supermarket.

Anderson and Francine Graham also killed Jersey City Police Det. Joseph Seals before driving about a mile to the store, where they killed three people inside.

India-Pakistan
'Drag Corpse to Parliament, Hang for 3 Days': - Order for Musharraf Execution
Islamabad: A Pakistan special court issued a bizarre but apparently symbolic order for former military ruler Pervez Musharraf on Thursday, saying his corpse should be dragged to parliament and hang for three days if he dies before his execution.

The court sentenced Musharraf to death on Tuesday after finding him guilty of high treason for subverting the constitution in 2007.

Thursday's announcement came after the government said it had found fault with the sentence, apparently taking sides in a split between the military and the judiciary, and the general's lawyers said he plans to appeal.

The court directed law enforcers to apprehend Musharraf, currently receiving medical treatment in Dubai, to ensure the death sentence is carried out.

But if found dead beforehand, "his corpse (should) be dragged to D-Chowk, Islamabad, Pakistan, and be hanged for three days", it said.

The chowk, or roundabout, is just outside parliament.

Legal experts termed the instructions unconstitutional, even if symbolic.

There is only one precedent - a court sentenced a serial killer to hanging at a public place and his body to be cut into 100 pieces in front of the families of the victims. The sentence was never carried out.

Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Wednesday the government's legal team had found "gaps and weaknesses" in the original death sentence after lawyers briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan about the case.

Musharraf, 76, who was tried and sentenced in absentia, said in Dubai the charges against him were politically motivated.

Musharraf's lawyers said they will appeal against the sentence to the Supreme Court, which the government, the complainant in the treason case, is unlikely to oppose.

The verdict sent shudders through the military, which has ruled Pakistan for about half the country's history. The army accused the court of ignoring legal processes and defended Musharraf's patriotism. It said the ruling had caused "pain and anguish" in the ranks.

Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan has said Musharraf wasn't given a fair trial, taking the army line in a standoff between the judiciary and the military.

Tensions arose after Supreme Court struck down a three-year extension in service given by the government to army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Musharraf seized power in a coup in 1999 and later ruled as president.

In November 2007, Musharraf suspended the constitution and imposed emergency rule, prompting protests. He resigned in 2008 to avoid the threat of impeachment.

When Nawaz Sharif, whom Musharraf deposed in 1999, was re-elected prime minister in 2013, he initiated a treason trial against Musharraf and in 2014 he was charged with high treason.

"This case was taken up only due to a personal vendetta by some people against me," Musharraf said in a video statement from his hospital bed in Dubai.

Musharraf travelled to Dubai after a travel ban was lifted in 2016 and he has refused to appear before the court, despite multiple orders.

International-UN-NGOs
UN: Israel has advanced 22,000 housing units since 2016 anti-settlement measure
[IsraelTimes] Head of world body says settlements have ’no legal effect’ following Trump administration announcement that it doesn’t necessarily consider Israeli communities West Bank illegal.

The UN Mideast envoy said Wednesday that Israel advanced or approved plans for over 22,000 housing units in West Bank settlements and East Jerusalem in the three years since the Security Council adopted a resolution condemning settlements in lands the Paleostinians want for their future state.

Nickolay Mladenov told the UN Security Council that in addition, Israel issued tenders for some 8,000 housing units since the December 2016 resolution, which also declared that the settlements have "no legal validity."

He said the numbers "should be of serious concern to all those who continue to support the establishment of an independent and viable Paleostinian state alongside Israel."

UN Secretary-General António Guterres
...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
said in a report to the Security Council circulated Wednesday that the settlements have "no legal effect."

He declared that construction and approvals "must cease immediately and completely."

"The existence and expansion of settlements fuel resentment and hopelessness among the Paleostinian population and significantly heighten Israeli-Paleostinian tensions," the UN chief said. "In addition, they continue to undermine the prospects for ending the (Israeli) occupation and achieving the two-state solution by systematically eroding the possibility of establishing a contiguous and viable Paleostinian state."

Guterres said he regrets the Trump administration’s announcement on November 18 that it no longer views "the establishment of Israeli civilian settlements in the West Bank" as "per se, inconsistent with international law."

Mladenov was reporting to the council on implementation of the 2016 resolution.

The resolution was approved by the council when the United States, in the final weeks of the B.O. regime, abstained rather than using its veto to support longtime ally Israel as it had done many times previously.

US Ambassador Kelly Craft told the council that she would have vetoed the resolution, which the Trump administration opposes.

The figures released by the UN are not new, but a collation of existing numbers over the last three years.

Today, some 700,000 Israelis live in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, which are both claimed by the Paleostinians for their state.

The international community overwhelmingly considers the settlements illegal. This is based in part on the Fourth Geneva Convention, which bars an occupying power from transferring parts of its own civilian population to occupied territory. Israel rejects the position that the territories are occupied, saying they were captured from Jordan in a defensive war.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Abbas says no elections unless Palestinians in East Jerusalem can vote
[IsraelTimes] Last week the PA said it had officially requested permission from Israel to allow Paleostinians in East Jerusalem to vote and run in PA parliamentary and presidential elections. Israel has yet to give a response.

The overwhelming majority of Paleostinians in East Jerusalem cannot vote in national elections in Israel because Israeli law only permits citizens of the Jewish state to cast ballots. Paleostinians in East Jerusalem largely do not hold citizenship, but rather permanent residency.

The Paleostinians have not held elections for more than a decade.

Abbas told the annual gathering of the United Nations

It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip and East Jerusalem in the near future.

He has since met several times with the head of the PA Central Elections Committee, Hanna Nasser, to discuss the possibility of holding elections, but has yet to set dates for the vote.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch started the buffalo stampeding......
the Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group, which rules the Gaza Strip, has declared it is ready to participate in elections.

The PA has not held parliamentary or presidential elections since 2006 and 2005, respectively.

The Oslo Accords, signed by Israel and the Paleostine Liberation Organization in the 1990s, set out a mechanism to enable Paleostinians to participate in elections in East Jerusalem, which the Jewish state considers part of its sovereign capital.

The Paleostinians have said they want East Jerusalem to be the capital of a future Paleostinian state.

Israel allowed PA elections to take place in East Jerusalem in 1996, 2005 and 2006.

Both the PA and Hamas have said they will not take part in elections that exclude East Jerusalem.

Paleostinian analysts believe the chances of a vote going ahead are low, both because of internal Paleostinian disputes and Israel’s apparent unwillingness to let an East Jerusalem vote go ahead.

The Israeli government has cracked down on any PA activity in East Jerusalem in recent years and would be loath to allow a Paleostinian vote in the city, particularly during an Israeli election campaign.

Israel considers East Jerusalem part of a united capital of Israel.

IDF prepares to raze home of terror leader in attack that killed Israeli teen
[IsraelTimes] Family of Rina Shnerb, who was killed in August bombing attack, praises security forces for crackdown on PFLP terror operatives.

The Israel Defense Forces cleared for publication on Wednesday that it had mapped the home of a senior Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine member who is suspected of leading a squad that carried out a terror attack earlier this year at a West Bank spring, killing an Israeli teenager.

The preparatory step taken before demolishing the structure was carried out on October 31 in the home of Walid Muhammad Hanatsheh, 50, after he was arrested earlier that month, the IDF said.

The army also added that it had mapped the homes of Qassem a-Karim Rajah Shibli, 25, Yasan Hasin Hasni Majamas, 24, for demolition in recent months.

The IDF statement came hours after security forces announced that they had arrested some 50 members of the PFLP ‐ the group deemed responsible for a fatal August 23 bombing in the West Bank.

Rina Shnerb, 17, was killed by the bomb at a natural spring near the Dolev settlement that she was visiting with her father, Rabbi Eitan Shnerb, and her brother, Dvir, both of whom were seriously maimed.

According to the Shin Bet security service, the explosive was planted at the site and triggered remotely by a PFLP cell led by Samer Mina Salim Arbid, 44, who was arrested shortly after the attack.

F-35 can identify and destroy cruise missiles - Lockheed Martin
[Jpost] Amid concerns that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
may attack Israel with cruise missiles, a senior Lockheed Martin representative revealed on Tuesday that the stealth F-35 Adir fighter jet can detect and intercept such threats.

Gary North, vice president for customer requirements and aeronautics, told news hounds that the AN/APG-81 AESA radar allows the advanced jet to identify and intercept airborne threats flying at a low altitude and at high speeds, like cruise missiles.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have warned in recent weeks of the threat posed by the Islamic Theocratic Republic, which they say is getting bolder and more willing to respond to IAF attacks on Iran and Iranian-backed militias and infrastructure.

Tehran has several rockets that can reach Israel, including the Khoramshahr 2 with a range of 2,000 km. Thousands more rockets are positioned in Syria and Iraq. Israel is defended from this missile threat by a multi-level protective umbrella which is continuously being upgraded. The Iron Dome is designed to shoot down short-range rockets; the Arrow-2 and Arrow-3 system intercepts ballistic missiles outside of the Earth’s atmosphere; and David’s Sling intercepts tactical ballistic missiles and medium- to long-range rockets, as well as cruise missiles fired at ranges between 40 and 300 km.

Israel has also activated its three Patriot system batteries against suspicious aerial objects, including downing drones and a Syrian Sukhoi fighter jet, which infiltrated into the Golan Heights last year.

Built by Lockheed Martin, the F-35 Adir jets have a low radar signature, allowing the planes to operate undetected deep inside enemy territory, as well as to evade advanced missile defense systems like the Russian-made S-300 and S-400, which have been deployed in Syria.

"Against a high-threat environment, the F-35 is absolutely the weapon of choice. Stealth allows the pilots to go wherever they have to go," North said, adding that the pilots "are confident in carrying out their missions."

The jet can fly at Mach 1.6 at a height of 17,000 m., has a range of 2,000 km., and can stay airborne for 3.5 hours before refueling. With close air-support capabilities and a massive array of sensors, stealth jet pilots have unparalleled access to information and to the most advanced electronic warfare capabilities.

The IAF currently has 20 F-35 Adir aircraft, and is expected to receive 50 more planes to make two squadrons by 2024.

North said that the IAF, which is set to decide on a third squadron of F-35s or the advanced F-15i, is examining the improvements made to the capabilities of the aircraft, such as improved weapons carrying capacity, and has sent a request for information with specific requirements.

The IAF is leaning to a mix of the F-35 and F-15i, allowing the air force to carry out complex operations, including any confrontation with Iran.

#4  But can the F-35 turn to catch up with the cruse missiles?

Doesn't need too. One of the F-35's best features is the ability to feed all the information it gets into the combat network for other aircraft and ground units. It can see more, farther and better and can be another unit's eyes and targeting system.

At Red Flag exercises, the F-35 hung around after shooting its weapons and fed targeting info to the other friendly units, allowing them kills beyond what they would normally be able to do.
Posted by: DarthVader || 12/19/2019 8:25 Comments || Top||

#5  It's not only with other air units. The F-35 transmits its situational awareness and targeting data to other ships, air defense, artillery and, soon, even infantry. It's going to be a flood of data that will clear the battlefield fog for those on the ground.

Then why not put these gadgets on a UCAV instead? Trying to sell the F-35 as as a "mini-AWACS" seems, IMO, an asinine idea when you are designing it to carry bombs.

#7  You tell me.

That's the F-35C which has larger wings and thus less of a stall issue in a turn than the "A" and "B" models while carrying a load..

AFAIK the IAF use the F-35I, which is based on the "A"model. so this video doesn't prove anything about the F-35I. (Except we know the Israels had to modify the heck out of it to make it usable.)
Posted by: Seeking Cure For Ignorance || 12/19/2019 10:12 Comments || Top||

Posted by: M. Murcek || 12/19/2019 10:17 Comments || Top||

#9  Then why not put these gadgets on a UCAV instead?

Because there will be nearly 3000 F-35s in the US inventory and probably, all told, another 2000 w/ allies. The hardware is already there as part of its mission systems. It's is writing the software (not only on F-35) to connect all these assets together and have them work as a team.

That's the F-35C which has larger wings

The F-35A with smaller wings (and mass) has a better sustained turn rate than the "C". The C has a better instantaneous (initial) turn rate because of the bigger wings but can't keep up due to higher induced drag.

Look up F-35 and Herbst (or J) turn for direction changing ability.

#11  (Except we know the Israels had to modify the heck out of it to make it usable.)

AFAIK, the Israeli have added some new Software Defined Radio waveforms to communicate w/ their C&C environment (it is an app that communicates w/ the F-35 operating system via an API). They haven't added any hardware. In the future they will also integrate some of their weapons, but again that is a software job akin to writing a driver for a PC (see Universal Armament Interface (UAI)).

#12  Then why not put these gadgets on a UCAV instead? Trying to sell the F-35 as as a "mini-AWACS" seems, IMO, an asinine idea when you are designing it to carry bombs.

It is designed to do a lot of things. Drop bombs, kill planes, transmit targeting data and jam radars. UCAVs usually are too small and can't do the full workload.

#13  UCAVs usually are too small and can't do the full workload.
Two points: (1) The UCAV is expendable (no pilot) and has to be transmitting to do all of these mini-AWAC things (Hi, I'm transmitting so shoot me!) and (2) Sometimes it pays dividends to specialize (The multirole fixation of the bean counters gave us programs like the LCS and the F-111...).

Israel allows Qatari donation of 20 emergency vehicles into Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Strip’s Civil Defense hails ’unprecedented’ shipment, which includes SUVs fitted with water pumps; says firefighting equipment was blocked from entering since Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, takeover.

They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, includes several SUVs fitted with water pumps. Gaza’s Civil Defense previously had just 33 vehicles to serve the territory’s two million people, including a single fire truck with a hydraulic platform.

Israel and Egypt have blockaded Gaza since the Islamic terror group Hamas seized power from rival Paleostinian forces in 2007.

Raed al-Dahshan, a front man for Gaza’s Civil Defense, said Tuesday’s shipment was "unprecedented."

The Civil Defense said no firefighting equipment has been allowed into Gaza since 2007, and the last shipment of fire trucks was brought in by the Western-backed Paleostinian Authority in 1998.

The blockade, which restricts imports and exports, has devastated Gaza’s economy and caused the unemployment rate to skyrocket to over 50 percent.

Israel says the closure is needed to prevent Hamas from arming. But fearing a humanitarian disaster that could spill over into violence, Israel has begun to soften its line.

The wealthy Gulf Arab state of Qatar, a key donor, has become an unlikely partner in Israel’s quest. Qatar has provided aid and led development projects in recent years to support efforts to preserve calm.

Hamas and Israel have fought three wars in the last decade.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The head of the Lebanese caretaker government, Saad Hariri
...Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too....
, announced that he will not be a candidate to form the next government, stressing his refusal to postpone the parliamentary consultations again.

Hariri tweeted on Wednesday, "when it became clear to me that despite my categorical commitment to forming a government of specialists, the positions that have emerged in the past few days on the issue of my nomination are non-interchangeable positions. I announce that I will not be a candidate to form the next government."
The problem is that nobody else wants the job, either, so he’s stuck with it until further notice. Kind of the reverse of Belgium, only with the same outcome.
Hariri said that he is "going tomorrow to participate in parliamentary consultations on this basis, with my insistence that it not be postponed under any pretext."

He added, "since I submitted my resignation 50 days ago in response to the cry of the Lebanese men and Lebanese women, I have strived to reach their demands with a government of specialists that I saw as the only ones capable of dealing with the serious social and economic crisis facing our country."

Since October 17, Leb has witnessed ongoing large-scale popular protests calling for early elections and the abolition of the sectarian quota system in politics, which led to the resignation of the Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

Iran confirms it is testing new centrifuges
[IsraelTimes] Iranian President Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
confirms that his country has begun testing its latest model of centrifuges.

"Today, our new IR-6 centrifuges are working and the newer IR-9s are being tested," he says during a visit to Malysia, according to a statement on his website translated by the Russian Sputnik news agency.

According to Iranian officials, an IR-6 centrifuge can produce enriched uranium 10 times faster than the country’s first-generation IR-1 centrifuges.

The IR-9 works five times faster than the IR-6 and 50 times faster than the IR-1, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, has said.

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
in recent months has been rolling back its commitments to the nuclear deal in the face of renewed US sanctions, triggered after Washington pulled out of the pact last year.

Elle Magazine's ‘Women Of Color In Politics To Watch' List
h/t Instapundit
Elle magazine selected two vocal anti-Semites as part of its list of "20 Women Of Color In Politics To Watch In 2020."

Elle’s list included Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) and Linda Sarsour, both of whom have come under fire for their dissemination of anti-Semitic rhetoric and support for the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement.

Both women have been criticized by the Jewish community and organizations that combat hateful rhetoric. Elle deputy editor Jessica Roy did not respond to a Washington Free Beacon request for comment.

#1  Interesting to see islamist muslims appropriate the 'color' tag to hijack the black power movement too.
