FTX Funded Research Claiming Ivermectin Is Ineffective against Covid
Harvested from a comment today from our very own Frank
[SLAY] The recently-imploded cryptocurrency exchange FTX funded the phony research that claimed Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine were ineffective when used to treat COVID-19.

New details are continuing to emerge that reveal how far-reaching the influence of FTX and its CEO and founder Sam Bankman-Fried was in the United States and beyond.

As Slay News has reported, FTX and its executives were political megadonors in recent years.

Bankman-Fried plowed millions of dollars into Democrat President Joe Biden’s campaign and Democratic Party groups during the 2020 elections.
As well as the Methodist church
During the 2022 midterms cycle alone, Bankman-Fried funneled almost $40 million into the Democrats, making him the second-largest Democratic Party donor after George Soros.

Now it has emerged that FTX funded the research that was used by politicians and the corporate media to debunk suggestions that Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine could be used as a cheap and effective treatment against Covid.

While pharmaceutical companies scrambled to get their Covid vaccines rolled out to the public, some health professionals argued that the readily available antiviral drugs could be used to treat patients who would otherwise die.

However, the drugs were banned from being used to treat dying patients.

FTX plowed $18 million into the research behind a study on Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine that claimed these two products didn’t work against Covid.

The studies were "stopped early" for these two drugs due to "futility."

Up to 10 people killed in shooting at Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia
See also here.
[Guardian] A shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Tuesday night has left several people dead and wounded, according to local authorities.

The shooter was among the dead, the City of Chesapeake tweeted on Tuesday.

"Chesapeake Police confirm an active shooter incident with fatalities at the Walmart on Sam’s Circle. The shooter is deceased."

Leo Kosinski, a spokesperson with the police department, said in a brief news conference that police received reports of a shooting at 10pm and arrived to find multiple fatalities. The shooting is thought to have stopped when police arrived, said Kosinski, adding that did not believe police had fired shots, but he could not say whether the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

It was unclear how many people had died, but Kosinski said "no more" than 10 people were killed.

The city set up a reunification site at the Chesapeake Conference Center for family members of those who may have been present at the Walmart to gather.

"We are shocked at this tragic event at our Chesapeake, Virginia store," Walmart tweeted early Wednesday. "We’re praying for those impacted, the community and our associates. We’re working closely with law enforcement, and we are focused on supporting our associates," the tweet said.

Mike Kafka, a spokesperson for Sentara Healthcare, said five patients from the Walmart were being treated at Norfolk general hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The Virginia state senator, Louise Lucas, said she was "absolutely heartbroken that America’s latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake, Virginia.

"I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country that has taken so many lives."

The Virginia shooting comes three days after a person opened fire at a gay nightclub in Colorado,
...that’d be Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, at Club Q. And it wasn’t just a gay club, it was full blown queer, having had a transvestite celebration earlier in the day...
killing five people and wounding 17. That shooter, who is nonbinary,
...preferred pronouns they/them instead of the fancier options on the menu...
was arrested after patrons at the club tackled them.
See?
The shootings come in a year when the US was shaken by the deaths of 21 in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

Tuesday’s shooting also brought back memories of another shooting at a Walmart in 2019, when a gunman police say was targeting Mexicans opened fire at a store in El Paso and killed 22 people. Walmart did not have a security guard on duty that day.

#3  Apparently the shooter was some sort of 'manager' that the other employees knew "always had an issue with somebody" on a daily basis.

Apparently Walmart's HR folks never offered an 'Anger Management', 'Relationships' or 'Diversity and Inclusion' course for him.

Or, he was off his meds.

NYC carjackers steal BMW at gunpoint, crash into accomplices while trying to flee cops
[NYPOST] A carjacking crew stole a BMW at gunpoint in Queens early Tuesday — and then crashed into a Mercedes with their accomplices inside while trying to make a getaway, authorities said.

Five men held up a 39-year-old man and stole his BMW X5 and cellphone around 1:30 a.m. at 164th Street and Chapin Parkway in Jamaica Hills, cops said.

Some of the suspects got into the BMW, while others hopped into a Mercedes-Benz to flee, authorities said.

When cops tried to stop the crew, the drivers of each car tried to get away — but crashed into each other, police said.

It’s unclear how many people were inside each vehicle.

Three of the suspects were arrested with charges pending.

Two of them were taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and the other to NewYork Presbyterian-Queens, all with minor injuries, authorities said.

Woke Fail: Bob Chapek Exits Disney, Bob Iger Returns as CEO
More on this story from two days ago.
[BREITBART] In a statement on Sunday, Susan Arnold, chairman of Disney’s Board of Directors, announced Chapek has stepped down from his position as head of the company and former CEO Bob Iger would be returning from retirement to take back the reins of power.

"We thank Bob Chapek for his service to Disney over his long career, including navigating the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic," the statement said. "The Board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation, Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the Company through this pivotal period."

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Chapek exited after signing a multi-year contract in June despite a turbulent year of leadership, during which he plunged the company deep into woke politics by opposing Florida’s anti-groomer law that barred teachers from discussing sexuality with third-graders.

The move proved disastrous on Chapek’s part when the state of Florida stripped Disney of its special tax jurisdiction that essentially allowed it to function like a city government.

On the content front, Chapek’s Disney took the political posturing even further, whether it was casting a trans "non-binary" actress in Marvel’s Ironheart or including a same-sex kiss in a children’s movie like Lightyear, which bombed at the box office.

Massachusetts man faces federal weapons charge, found with 8 ghost guns, hundreds of rounds of ammo, DOJ says
[FoxNews] Stewart Silvestri, 24, was found with multiple firearms, ammunition and firearm components, the Justice Department said.

A Massachusetts man is facing a federal weapons charge after he was found with a "machinegun" along with eight so-called ghost guns and firearm components, authorities said.

The Justice Department said the firearms found in possession of Stewart Silvestri, 24, contribute to the "ongoing plague of gun violence" happening in Massachusetts and across the nation.

"Moreover, two of the firearms Mr. Silvestri allegedly possessed were machineguns capable of causing extreme harm, destruction and even mass casualties in the blink of an eye," said U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins. "Firearms, including ghost guns, are deadly weapons and those who illegally possess them are a potential threat to the safety of our neighborhoods."

He is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a "machinegun," authorities said.

A federal complaint said law enforcement officers responded to multiple reports of an erratic driver on State Route 95 in Rowley, Massachusetts, who pulled into a weigh station. Silvestri allegedly told authorities he had just come from an armory in New Hampshire.

He appeared to be sitting on firearms, prosecutors said. During a search of his vehicle, authorities also found eight ghost guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and "numerous" parts for firearms, including two firearms that were fully automatic, the Justice Department said.

A Massachusetts State Police news release said Silvestri was found with a handgun with a 50-round drum magazine and other magazines with varying numbers of rounds.

He faces up to 10 years in prison. He appeared in a federal court on Nov. 18 and was ordered detained.

It is not the Homemade Firearm, aka "Ghost Gun" that got his A$$ in deep stinky. It was more likely the manufacture of a Full Auto weapon.

ATF’s new rule does not change the definition of a Firearm Frame or Receiver to include 3D printed firearms. Further, Rule 2021R-05 does not prohibit you from building a firearm using an 80% receiver. T

"No, a license is not required to make a firearm solely for personal use. However, a license is required to manufacture firearms for sale or distribution."

#3  I once bought a Contender G2 pistol frame and a separate 18" barrel. The dealer asked me to please take them home and mate them together there, as the local ATF office at the time was likely to -incorrectly - deem the mating together of the two halves to be "unlicensed manufacturing," which he wanted no part of. I told him I couldn't blame him a bit and walked out with my purchases.

It's a sweet shooting varmint pistol in .204 Ruger now.

'Brazilian military just waiting for Bolsonaro to give the order to arrest corrupt Communist judge'
[Gateway via WND] Brazilian truck drivers have blockaded at least 17 roads since Friday, Turkish A News reports. Between Oct. 30 and Nov. 9, authorities arrested 49 people allegedly involved in the roadblocks, according to Brazilian news portal G1.
Communist, pro-China candidate falling out of favor?
We simply can't have that now can we ?

In a voice message published by columnist Mônica Bergamo, Judge Augusto Nardes of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) allegedly was discussing a military coup with President Jair Bolsonaro. In the recording, Nardes said he has "a lot of information" about "strong movement in the (Army) barracks". Nardes allegedly said "that (there will be) a very strong outcome in the nation, unpredictable ... in a matter of hours, days, at most, a week, two, maybe less."

Apparently someone forwarded a WhatsApp message from the Judge to the journalist. The call was interpreted as referring to potential preparation of a military coup to prevent the inauguration of convicted Communist criminal Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva as President in January. Judge Augusto Nardes has announced his resignation over the call.

Guardian - Klingon director urged Bolsonaro to stop doubting Brazil’s voting system – report

The CIA director William Burns urged Jair Bolsonaro to stop questioning his country’s voting system, it has been claimed, amid growing fears the Brazilian president might refuse to accept defeat in this year’s election.

Polls suggest Bolsonaro, a far-right populist famed for his adulation of Donald Trump, will struggle to secure a second term when about 150 million Brazilians head to the polls in October to choose their next leader.

Bolsonaro’s leftist rival, the former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, is currently in pole position, and will formally announce his candidacy at a convention in São Paulo this weekend.

Burns was, and remains, the most senior U.S. official to meet in Brasilia with Bolsonaro's right-wing government since the election of U.S. President Joe Biden. A third person in Washington familiar with the matter confirmed that a delegation led by Burns had told top Bolsonaro aides the president should stop undermining confidence in Brazil's voting system. ... Figures released Wednesday by the Labor Department show initial claims for the week ended Nov. 19 rose to 240,000 from the upwardly revised 223,000 recorded a week earlier. That is above the 2019 pre-pandemic average of 218,000 claims and marks the highest level since mid-August.

Continuing claims, filed by Americans who are consecutively receiving unemployment benefits, rose slightly to 1.55 million for the week ended Nov. 12, up by 48,000 from the previous week's revised level. One year ago, nearly 2.28 million Americans were receiving unemployment benefits.

"Initial claims jumped higher than estimates in the latest week, but that’s not surprising given the high-profile layoffs of thousands of workers from big companies, especially tech firms," said Robert Frick, corporate economist at Navy Federal Credit Union. "The jobs market remains tight and one week doesn’t make a trend, so this is more likely a blip than a sign of labor market cooling."

Companies including Amazon, Apple, Lyft, Meta Platforms and Twitter have all announced layoffs.

For months, the labor market has remained one of the few bright spots in the economy: The October jobs report showed that employers added 261,000 new jobs last month, a solid figure that suggests hiring remains strong.

But it may not last long: The Federal Reserve is raising interest rates at the fastest pace in decades as it tries to crush runaway inflation. Although the labor market is still healthy, both the housing and manufacturing sectors are weakening and inflation remains painfully high.

Policymakers have already approved six straight rate increases and have signaled that more hikes are to come as they try to cool the economy — and the labor market. The Fed releases minutes of the Nov. 1-2 policy meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

Fed policymakers have made it clear that they anticipate unemployment to climb as a result of higher rates, which could force consumers and businesses to pull back on spending.

Updated projections from the central bank's September meeting show that officials expect unemployment to climb to 4.4% by the end of next year, up from the current rate of 3.7%.

That could mean roughly 1 million Americans lose their jobs between now and the end of 2023. Other analyzes — including one from Deutsche Bank — show unemployment climbing as high as 6% as the result of the Fed's interest rate hikes.

Fears of crypto contagion are growing as another company's finances wobble
[NPR] Fears that the collapse of FTX will lead to more destruction in the crypto industry are hitting almost every investor in the United States, from individuals to major Wall Street firms, with many wondering if another cryptocurrency trading platform called Genesis will fall next.

So far, those fears have not been realized, and a Genesis spokesman said in a statement to NPR on Tuesday that "our goal is to resolve the current situation in the lending business without the need for any bankruptcy filing."

But Genesis has reportedly warned potential investors that it may need to file for bankruptcy if it fails to quickly raise a significant chunk of cash - $1 billion, according to Bloomberg News.

And there are other worrying signs: Gemini has suspended redemptions and stopped originating new loans.

"Crypto contagion" is a real possibility in the decentralized system of digital currencies, where there are few investor protections in place. Firms seemingly can opt out of following standard accounting procedures and controls, and companies can be tangled up with one another in unclear ways.

German Companies Scramble to Buy Generators Amid Grid Collapse Fears
[Breitbart] Medium and large companies have reportedly been scrambling to purchase electricity generators amid fears that the country could see parts of its national grid collapse.

Companies responsible for the sale of electricity generators in Germany are reported to be seeing their business boom with many enterprises reportedly fearing that there could be widespread power outages or even partial grid collapse throughout Germany this winter.

It comes after one senior official in Germany recently warned that the country must now "assume" there will be serious power outages over the coming months, and plan accordingly for them.

Despite attempts by authorities to quash this warning almost as soon as it was made, it appears that reassurances from various parts of the German federal government have failed to convince many businesses, with Der Spiegel reporting that the country is now well and truly experiencing a run on electricity generators.

According to the newspaper, a company spokesman for engine manufacturer Rolls Royce has described business this year as being extremely good for the company, with its entire 2023 stock of generators being nearly sold out by the first half of 2022, with many companies reportedly afraid of seeing their electronic equipment going down.

"The waiting times for the units is currently six to twelve months," the spokesman reportedly said, who also noted that "data traffic is increasing in almost all sectors" and that both "medium-sized companies as well as large corporations" want to secure their digital networks in the event of a loss of power.

#1  Why would they do that? Resident poster here says German reserves 100% full.

#2  Which they are (99.3% yesterday). The plan was 95% on Nov 1st. So our reserves will last well into February, but of course we'll continue to buy (and get) gas in winter.

Russian propaganda loved to show freezing Germans in October when day temperatures were in the upper 70s. November is still benign (upper 40s), with no frosts yet (Alps excepted).

Forecast for the next two weeks: Lower 40s or upper 30s. I'm not worried about power outages.

#3  I hope you are correct EC.
Strange you trust your media.
You didn't address why they would buy generators.....

Government Corruption
The FDA Wants You to Forget It Told 'Y'all' to Stop Taking Horse Dewormer Ivermectin
[PJ] In June, three doctors filed a lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for interfering with using ivermectin to treat COVID-19. All three were disciplined for prescribing human-grade ivermectin to treat patients. The attorney for the physicians, Boyden Gray, asserted the FDA’s actions regarding ivermectin went against well-established law and practice regarding the off-label use of FDA-approved drugs.

When the suit was filed, Gray told the Epoch Times, "Congress recognized the importance of letting doctors be doctors and expressly prohibited the FDA from interfering with the practice of medicine." He continued, "That is exactly what the FDA has done repeatedly throughout this pandemic, assuming authority it doesn’t have and trying to insert itself in the medical decisions of Americans everywhere."

In a hearing on November 1, the FDA’s lawyers argued, "The cited statements were not directives. They were not mandatory. They were recommendations. They said what parties should do. They said, for example, why you should not take ivermectin to treat COVID-19. They did not say you may not do it, you must not do it. They did not say it’s prohibited or it’s unlawful. They also did not say that doctors may not prescribe ivermectin."

That’s some pretty innovative hair-splitting. It is almost as if the FDA doesn’t know that in a medical system full of attorneys, statements like this would not chill the use of a drug:
