Afghanistan
Balkh Residents Criticize Lack of Uniforms for Security Forces
[ToloNews] Mazar-e-Sharif residents expressed concerns about Islamic Emirate’s security forces members not wearing uniforms, saying that civilians have a problem distinguishing security forces from criminal imposters.

They asked the Islamic Emirate to distribute uniforms for security forces immediately in the province.

"Security forces must have a uniform so we can distinguish them from others," said Mer Abas, a Mazar-e-Sharif resident.

"Distinctive uniforms are needed to distinguish thieves from other people," said Mohammad Tayeb, a Mazar-e-Sharif resident.

Meanwhile,

security officials in Balkh said that they will distribute uniforms to their security forces soon.

"In one week we will distribute uniforms for our security forces ... Insha Allah," said Mohammad Asif Waziri, front man for the Balkh police commander.

Residents said that recently crime has increased in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.

Afghan Families Sell Belongings to Make Ends Meet
[KHAAMAPRESS] An average Afghan family affords 82% of basic food commodities, selling their belongings in order to make ends meet, amid winter snowy season that requires additional fund to warm up living space.

According to Martin Schuepp, Director of Operations of the International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC), an average Afghan family can only afford 82% of basic food commodities, expressing concerns over the economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.

"We see more and more Afghans who are really having to sell their belongings in order to make ends meet, and where they have to buy materials for heating and at the same time have to face increasing costs for food and other essential items," he said in an interview with AP.

"Sanctions are a challenge in getting aid and the necessary supplies to the country in a timely fashion, and it is key that all sanctions have humanitarian exemptions so organizations like the ICRC could continue their work."

Economists Sayed Masoud believe "the economic stability could be ensured via banks and mines."

"The suspension of banking relations with the international banks has posed problems in the transaction of money for various aims such as trading," said Mir Shikib Mir, another economist.

"Also, the transaction of money by humanitarian organizations has been facing challenges."

Meanwhile,
...back at the railroad tracks, Little Nell tried to kick her bound feet and scream post the snotty handkerchief Scarface Al had stuff into her mouth...
local shopkeepers and retailers expressed concern over decreasing number of customers, which they believe are due to financial challenges families are facing.

"The unemployment has risen and the customers have dropped," said Abdul Alim, a shopkeeper, as TOLOnews quoted. "When there is no money, of course the customers drop."

"Poverty and unemployment have increased in society. The people don’t purchase anything else but essential materials," said Almas, another shopkeeper.

TPLF sets a new condition for laying down the arms
[ShabelleMedia] The leaders of Tigray said that their forces will not lay down their arms until the residents of the northern region of Æthiopia are guaranteed their safety.

The disarmament of the army and militia groups was an important part of the peace agreement signed between the government and the TPLF on November 2.

The two top leaders of the Tigray TPLF party accused the Eritrea

They said that it was difficult for the TPLF forces to disarm them.

We asked DR Feysal Roble, an expert on political issues in Æthiopia, about the impact of these issues on the agreement that took place in South Africa.

Libyan MP's Call to Replace Ageela Saleh
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Monday, 22 Members of the Libyan Parliament called to replace Speaker, Ageela Saleh from his position as Parliament Speaker, and to elect a new speaker from the southern region.

In a joint statement, the MP’s said: "We demand a new Parliament Speaker from the Southern region to be elected. Given that the eastern region is represented by the Head of the Presidential Council, while the western region is also represented by the Head of the Government."

According to the statement, the Advisory Committee of the Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva confirmed that the Presidency of the Parliament should be given to the least densely populated region.

The statement was signed by 22 MP’s including, "Misbah Ouhida — Muhammad Matoug Ajdid — Muhammad Ibrahim Tamer — Rahma Abu Bakr — Nasr Youssef Muhammad — Khadija al-Zarooq — Mahdi Masoud al-Awar — Abu Salah Shalabi — Moaz Rafi — Ahlam al-Lafi — Hassan al-Barghouti."

"Ali al-Takali — Misbah al-Badawi — Muhammad al-Raidh — Omar Tantoush — Aisha al-Tublaqi — Hamad al-Bundaq — Saad al-Marimi — Omar al-Arabi — Ali Kashir — Aisha Shalabi — Ezzedine Qwerb," also signed the statement.

Notably, the Libyan Parliament began a session on Monday, devoted to the law on the unified salary scale for state officials.

Last week, Saleh held a meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Abdoulaye Bathily.

Saleh and Bathily discussed the latest developments in Libya, and ways to get out of the current impasse and advance the political and security tracks.

They also stressed the importance of paving the way for holding Presidential and Parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Bathily reiterated his calls for Libyan leaders to come together to accelerate the political process toward elections, and put Libya on the course to peace, stability, and prosperity.

Notably, Libya is politically torn between Fathi Bashagha, who was elected by the Libyan Parliament to lead the country in February, and the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, who refuses to relinquish power.

Tensions have been rising for months in Libya as the two Prime Ministers vie for power; rising fears of renewed conflict two years after a landmark truce.

J&K: Number of active local militants reduced to two digit
[GULISTANNEWSTV] Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
’s Director General of Police (DPG) Dilbagh Singh Tuesday said that the number of local Lions of Islam active in Kashmir has been reduced to two digit while a "miniscule number of foreigners were active who are being tracked down."

"As far as the status of militancy is concerned, the number of active local Lions of Islam has been brought to just two digit. Very less foreign Lions of Islam are active as of now," DGP Singh told news hounds on the sidelines of his visit to north Kashmir’s Baramulla town. "Anti-militancy operations are going on and very soon remaining Lions of Islam will be eliminated as well."

He said that at one point of time, north Kashmir was badly affected by the militancy and at present "this place is almost peaceful and there is less influence of militancy now."

About Hybrid militancy, he said it has been a challenge as the handlers across the border had been luring the young boys, giving them weapons and targets. "We have largely succeeded in facing this challenge and this year so far, over 100 modules of Hybrid Lions of Islam were busted across J&K," the DGP said as per KNO.

To a query about Kashmir Fight blog, he said that some elements sitting across the LoC can’t digest the peace prevailing in Kashmir and hence continue to issue threats to police, media men and even public representatives. "It is the media that has to take the call. Media men don’t need to worry as we have already lodged a case against the blog and people running it. Strict action will be taken against those handling this blog," the DGP said, adding that "we are keenly watching the activities taking place on this blog."

He reviewed security situation in north Kashmir and need of upgrading infrastructure of police force

Testimony begins in trial of Uyghurs charged in deadly Bangkok bombing
[BenarNews] Two Uyghurs charged with detonating a deadly bomb at a popular Hindu shrine in Bangkok seven years ago heard testimony against them in a civilian court Tuesday for the first time in their trial after a series of delays.
At the time Turkey expressed interest in the case, and there was suspicion that Turkey’s Gray Wolves (also in our archives spelt Grey Wolves) were somehow involved.
