Beyond Meat COO arrested for biting man's nose near Razorback Stadium
[KNWAFox24] A food company executive was arrested on a pair of charges after reportedly biting a man’s nose in a parking garage in Fayetteville on Saturday night.
“Do you know who I am!”
Doug Ramsey, 53, of Fayetteville, was arrested on September 17 on charges of terroristic threatening and third-degree battery. According to a preliminary report, the incident happened at a parking garage near Razorback Stadium following Arkansas’ victory over Missouri State.

Just after 10 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Gate 15 for “a disturbance that had previously occurred in the Stadium Drive Parking Garage (SDPG).” The responding officer found “two males with bloody faces” at the scene.

The officer spoke with both parties and a witness and determined that Ramsey was allegedly in the traffic lane of the structure, attempting to leave, when a Subaru “inched his way” in front of Ramsey’s Bronco, making contact with the front passenger’s side tire. Ramsey got out of his vehicle and allegedly “punched through the back windshield of the Subaru,” according to the report.

The owner of the Subaru then got out and he stated that Ramsey “pulled him in close and started punching his body.” According to the report, Ramsey also “bit the owner’s nose, ripping the flesh on the tip of the nose.”

The victim and the witness also reported hearing Ramsey “threaten to kill” the owner of the Subaru. Occupants of both vehicles got out and helped separate the parties.

Ramsey was arrested at 10:27 p.m. and booked into the Washington County jail.

Ramsey was named the COO of Beyond Meat in December 2021. KNWA/FOX24 reached out to Beyond Meat for comment on Ramsey’s arrest and have not received a response.

According to the Tyson Foods website, Ramsey had been a member of Tyson Foods’ poultry business since 1992 and was named president of global McDonald’s business in 2019. The site also states that “Doug [was] a champion of team member safety and sits on the company’s Executive Safety Council.”

A Tyson spokesperson said that Ramsey left the company last year on his own accord, unrelated to this arrest.

US could face ANOTHER beer shortage after extinct Mississippi volcano contaminated the country's largest CO2 reserve
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The price of carbon dioxide - a vital component for beer production - has risen fourfold, Axios reported on Monday

  • CO2 has been in short supply for several years as the pandemic forced people to drink from home: CO2 is needed in beer and sodas

  • Now raw gas from a mine has seeped into the Jackson Dome, an extinct volcano in Mississippi that provides much of the country's supply of CO2

  • The contamination at the site, operated since 1977, has reduced the amount of food-grade CO2 available

#4  As DarthVader says, brewing releases carbon dioxide during the process. As I understand it, in an industrial situation so much CO2 is produced that they have to bleed it off and discard it, then add in more at the end. Perhaps it’s time for them to capture and recycle instead of bringing more in from outside sources.
Posted by: trailing wife || 09/20/2022 17:43 Comments || Top||

#5  When you hear "Cold Filtered" it means they stuck the beer in the secondary fermentation or racked it in a cooler. Makes the particulates fall out sooner.

To make it happen sooner, modern brewers use CO2 to have millions of small bubbles move through the secondary and it will make the particulates move to the top and they skim it off. Takes off 5 days or so off the brew process. So that is where they will be hurting with the additional cost of CO2. As TW said, about time to start capture and recycle.

Hurricane Fiona makes second landfall in Dominican Republic after lashing Puerto Rico, leaving it powerless
[NYPOST] After making landfall along the extreme southwestern coast of Puerto Rico on Sunday afternoon, Hurricane Fiona made a second landfall about 12 hours later in the eastern Dominican Republic early Monday morning.

Maximum sustained winds for Fiona’s first landfall in Puerto Rico were estimated at about 85 mph, making it a Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. High winds were reported across the island on Sunday, including a 103-mph wind gust in the city of Ponce.

Hurricane Fiona was slightly stronger for its second landfall in the Dominican Republic, with maximum sustained winds estimated at about 90 mph — still a Category 1 hurricane. The Punta Cana International Airport clocked a 79-mph wind gust near the time of landfall in the pre-dawn hours of Monday.

The entire archipelago of Puerto Rico was plunged into a blackout Sunday afternoon as Hurricane Fiona’s high winds caused severe damage to the U.S. territory’s power grid, which was destroyed by Hurricane Maria about five years ago in October 2017. Nearly 1.5 million customers were without power on Sunday afternoon.

According to LUMA Energy — the power company responsible for Puerto Rico — power had been restored to about 100,000 customers as of Monday morning within the municipalities of Toa Alta, Toa Baja, the San Juan metropolitan area, Bayamón and Corozal.

[WashingtonPost] Winds have gusted over 100 mph while the National Hurricane Center warns of ‘catastrophic’ flooding.

Oregon Apologizes for 'F*ck the Mormons' Chant During BYU Game
"Bartender, tolerance for everyone!"
[BREITBART] The University of Oregon has issued an apology to Brigham Young University (BYU) after a large section of their students began chanting "F*ck the Mormons" during their game on Saturday.

"Religious bigotry alive and celebrated in Oregon," Utah Governor Spencer Cox (R) wrote in a tweet captioning the video of the offensive chant.

BYU describes itself as "...founded, supported, and guided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are commonly referred to as Mormons.

On Sunday, Oregon released a statement stating that the student chant went against "everything the university stands for."

"The University of Oregon sincerely apologizes for an offensive and disgraceful chant coming from the student section during yesterday’s game against Brigham Young University," the university said. "These types of actions go against everything the university stands for, and it goes against the spirit of competition. We can and will do better as a campus community that has no place for hate, bias or bigotry."

#8  Liberal U of O professors pushing woke garbage is disheartening and embarrassing as it bleeds into our Duck games, along with hateful rhetoric being a norm now at the Campus bars and establishments.
Attending an Oregon Duck game is an awesome experience that has been drug through the mud.
My brother has had Season tickets since 1972 and I enjoy attending games when I go back to visit.
I have family attending Oregon 2022-23 and the hate spewed by many leftie professors is only getting worse if you can even imagine.
Watching the destruction of my beloved Oregon has been very painful, and I feel so helpless.
Oregon is so much better than this.

San Francisco Building $95M School Despite Fewer Students
[San Francisco Chronical] Despite an enrollment decline that is leaving thousands of seats empty in San Francisco schools, the city’s school board is forging ahead with a plan to build a $95 million elementary school to open in three years.
Drag Queen Hall
The Mission Bay project has been in the works for more than two decades, as part of the master plan to develop the formerly industrial area.

On Tuesday, the school board voted unanimously to accept the formal transfer of 2.5 acres for free from UCSF, which currently is in control of the land.

Voters already approved the bond funding in 2016 to build the school, and environmental and other impact reports have been completed.

The formal transfer of the property is one of the last significant hurdles before construction can begin.

City and district officials say the project is part of a long-term plan to accommodate the families with school-age children who would move into the more than 80,000 new housing units citywide that officials hope will be built by 2030.

Still, that’s uncertain. San Francisco finished only about 4,600 units last year citywide and could see fewer than that this year with residential construction slowed.

#4  Unfortunately, school districts have been overbuilding for decades.

Typical ploy is to under buy textbooks then use the lack of textbooks to get a tax increase then use the taxes to build another building.

Another ploy is to use fantasy forecasts of student enrollment (as in the SF case).

Wyoming Team Makes Long-Range Rifle Shot Record, Hits 4.4 Mile Target
[Valiant] The world record for the longest rifle shot was broken by a Wyoming team of shooters who managed to hit a target 4.4 miles away in on the state’s arid plains.

Breaking the previous record of only 4 miles, and the Wyoming state record of 3.06 miles, local media outlet KSLTV explains that the shot required years of planning from two expert shooters and their team.

Two Wyoming firearms trainers, Scott Austin and Shepard Humphries, began gathering parts and assembling their team in 2020, after the duo broke set the previous Wyoming state record.

"This was the most challenging, difficult, frustrating, time-consuming and yet rewarding professional project I have ever undertaken," Humphries, who specializes in long range shooting, told the Wyoming TV station.

Ok a great shot I agree.
It took a lot of time and effort to accomplish.
I can't bench shoot even 500m anymore.

But what is the practicality of it?

The calculated bullet drop at 4.4 miles.
assuming a suitable .388m or 50cal caliber was use,
would be well over what 12+ feet?

The bullets estimated traveling speed would be well under a few 100 f/ps and impact pressure would be around 100 ft-lbs at best.

But like I said, great shot, but what use is it in a real world situation, other hitting a stationary target not moving 1 inch for 8 to 12 sec on a prefect day for LX shooting.

#4  I recall reading about a sniper shot in Afghanistan where our guy took out a spotter with a .50 Barret at about 1.5 miles. The bad guy was on a balcony in an apartment bldg, using binoculars to adjust fires as I recall. The sniper noted it was a near dead calm day, but that his aim-off was still about 12 ft high and slightly left of the guys head. 1st round was over, but the impact caused the target to stand and the second round was aimed at the head during 1st round time of flight, but when the bad guy stood in reaction, took him in the chest. Amazing skill.

So IF we're talking a 416 Barrett 422gr.
The bullet drops about 2770 inches at 2500 meters, so roughly at 7080 meters (2.8 times the distance) what are we talking is a drop of 653+/- feet from zero ????

Again, IF it's a .416 Barrett the Muzzle Velocity is about 3000 fps losing 2,000 fps to only 1000 fps at 2500 meters.

So at 7000+/- meters we are talking well less than 300+ fps.
NOTE: Special / Nitro Powders not accounted for in these estimates.

Also, the initial muzzle energy is around 9,000 (ft-lbs) quickly dropping to around 1,050 (ft-lbs) or so at 2500 meters. At that rate of (ft-lbs) drop it would be around 200 (ft-lbs) at best... slow as a BB pistol 50 feet?

Like I said, great, a fantastic shot, I could never dream of making. But I see no practical, real world use of a 4.4 mile shot.

Note: I'd use an air dropped RC midget attack drone swarm to clean an area of hostiles.

BTW: I would love to see a video of the ammo reloading,
as I reload, a few large calibers myself.
