South Carolina warns financial firm Morningstar over ostensible anti-Israel bias
[IsraelTimes] US state threatens to cut ties with leading investment research company out of ’solidarity with Israel’; company denies any prejudice.

South Carolina’s treasurer on Wednesday threatened to cut the US state’s ties with the multibillion-dollar investment firm Morningstar over alleged anti-Israel bias, part of an ongoing offensive against the company by Republican officials.

Republican state leaders have repeatedly accused Morningstar of supporting the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, in violation of the law in some states, due to the conduct of one of its subsidiaries, Sustainalytics.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab militants pictured in graduation ceremony, warn Govt
[Garowe] al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
faceless myrmidons have been photographed and video-graphed in a graduation ceremony, with the group's top brass seizing the opportunity to fire warnings at President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, whose strategy to defeat the faceless myrmidons seems to be winning many hearts.

During the event, a number of senior al-Shabaab officials attended the graduation.
"You may now move your Turban-Tassel from right to left, signifying your graduation. There will be pastries and coffee in the hall for family pictures"
While addressing the recruits, al-Shabaab spokesperson Ali Dheere condemned the current situation in Somalia and the entire leadership, insisting that there is a need for change. The brigade is known for suicide kaboom and making explosives that are used in suicidal attacks.

The spokesperson also took a jibe at President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who he claimed was targeting al-Shabaab courts in the Horn of Africa nation. Further, he dismissed AMISOM's decision to change the name to ATMIS, suggesting that the mission team had lost track.

In addition, Ali Rage laid out al-Shabaab's view on the reason foreign forces are meddling in Somalia's affairs and the role of domestic "apostate clients;" He alleged that President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is just the latest client selected by this foreign conspiracy.

Further, repeats the group's warning to Somali civilians to "stay away" from government forces and buildings as well as other "legitimate" targets. Rage also issues a threatening warning to Somalia's clans that have taken up arms against al-Shabaab.

Al-Shabaab has issued the threat after facing military pressure from Somali forces backed by a local militia on several fronts in central Somalia, where the combined troops regained control of large swathes and killed dozens of faceless myrmidons since early this month.

After issuing multiple threats to a wide swath of Somali domestic society and the diaspora, al-Shabaab's Ali Rage [Ali Dheere] turns to discuss the turbans' claims about their drought relief and other humanitarian aid delivery campaigns.

Details about the graduation event come at the time Somali residents have taken arms against al-Shabaab, combining efforts with government forces who have been fighting the group for months. Over the weekend, the group lost over 75 fighters according to the state media.

Hassan Sheikh: How Somalia is blocking Al-Shabaab financial flow
[Garowe] Somalia is putting progressive mechanisms to block al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
's financial fortunes, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has reiterated, in the wake of the group's insurgency which has triggered civilians to carry arms against the hard boys.

Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda-affiliated group, has been fighting in the country since 2006, with an aim of toppling the fragile UN-backed federal government, but it has often faced resistance from the Somali National Army [SNA], government-allied militia, and the peacekeeping mission teams.

In an interview with the Center for Strategic International Studies [CSIS], Hassan Sheikh, who was re-elected in May after five years in cold, maintained that Somalia is reviewing her fiscal policy, including through the establishment of government agencies that monitor the flow of money.

This move, he noted, will help the government detect money being smuggled into the country to assist the al-Shabaab, adding that the state has since entrusted the Finance Reporting Center [FRC] with duties to regulate the flow of cash from all financial institutions.

"Al-Shabaab financing is a big issue in Somalia," he said. "We developed Finance Reporting Center [FRC] which is basically a financial intelligence unit. We put the law in place and we are putting more laws which expose the movement of money to the government," added the president.

"These institutions are working with banks, with remittances companies and within where that money is important," Mohamud said, just as he stressed his full-blown strategy to weaken the group, which controls huge swathes of rural central and southern Somalia.

To further transform the transaction process, the president noted, all Somalis will be required to have a Personal Identification Number [PIN] which will be used to identify all individuals to avoid suspicious transactions, a loophole al-Shabaab gunnies have been using for over a decade.

"We are now emphasizing the use of PIN which wasn't there before and we are staffing the agency in charge with the help of World Bank," Hassan Sheikh added. "Soon, nobody will be transferring money randomly without a check and they will all be tracked."

Besides suspected financial aid from abroad, the group has been depending on extortion of local businesses in form of taxes, forcing traders to part with huge sums of money to help the group sustain its unscrupulous activities across the Horn of Africa nation.

A report published by the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Special Rapporteur showed that the group runs an annual budget of about $100 million with almost $24 million going to the purchase of weapons. Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
was identified as the entry route for smuggled weapons to the country.

Hassan Sheikh's sentiments come at the time Somalia National Army and local militia are gaining ground within Galgaduud, Hiiraan, and Bay regions, where the group has been dominant. According to the state media, over 75 al-Shabaab gunnies have been killed in the last 24 hours across Somalia.

There are close to 23,000 peacekeepers working with the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] who have also been instrumental in degrading the hard boys. The US also dispatched 500 elite soldiers to Somalia to help in training and equipping the local army.

#1  The Shabaab will continue on their way unless the goverment finally gains control of the hawaldars, the unofficial bankers, that through interpersonal relations move funds from one nation (the USA for example, Pakistan and the UAE much more likely) to another. They have been funding the Somali Islamists since the 1980s.

Qatar’s UN ambassador denied human rights post after antisemitic, homophobic tweets
When you’re too hateful for the UN... OR why Twitter is a terrible thing.
[IsraelTimes] Hend al-Muftah rejected from position after slew of tweets uncovered that called Jews ’our enemies,’ blamed Israel for 9/11 attacks and labeled gays ’disgusting’

Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
’s Ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
in Geneva Hend al-Muftah has lost her bid to become chair of a UN human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
forum, after revelations that she had previously made a series of antisemitic and homophobic comments.

Qatar had been lobbying to place al-Muftah as chair of the upcoming Forum on Human Rights, Democracy, and the Rule of Law, set to take place in November and opening the same week Qatar will controversially host the FIFA World Cup.

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the Qatari bid came unstuck, after UN Watch, an independent human rights monitoring organization based in Geneva, uncovered dozens of discriminatory and conspiratorial tweets between 2011 and 2021, including blaming Israel for 9/11, calling Jews "our enemies," and calling gays "disgusting."

In her place, Bahamas Ambassador to the UN Patricia Hermanns will chair the forum.

UN Watch’s director, Hillel Neuer, praised the decision, saying that denying the post to the "ambassador of hate" was "the right thing."

"Hend al-Muftah is a rabid antisemite who for over a decade has been tweeting vile hate against Jews and gays while spreading malign conspiracy theories about Western countries. She is the last person in the world who should head a UN forum on human rights, democracy, and the rule of law," Neuer said.

UN Watch said that Qatar had been making use of its deep pockets to win favor within the UN, including a $20 million "Hall of Qatar" located next to the Human Rights Council Chamber in Geneva.

UN Watch had previously penned an open letter to UN Human Rights Council president Federico Villegas, expressing "grave concern" over the nomination of al-Muftah.

Among a slew of antisemitic tweets in both Arabic and English, most of which are still available online, al-Muftah wrote that "the Jews" focused investments in industry and media, "and that is why they dominated, tyrannized and ruled the world."

"The American Zionist controls the US media," and "thus it is well-targeted for achieving their anti-Islam everywhere... We learned from a young age that the Jews are our enemies!" al-Muftah said.

Al-Muftah was the first woman to be appointed to Qatar’s Shura Council, designated as Qatar’s most influential social media figure in 2016, and honored by the British Council in 2019.

Arab East Jerusalem schools go on strike to protest edits to ‘inciting’ textbooks
[IsraelTimes] Municipality says Education Ministry backed plan to change texts deemed to support terror, but organizers say it is their right to present Paleostinian viewpoint

Paleostinian schools in East Jerusalem went on strike Monday to protest attempts by Israel to impose curriculum reforms, with some tens of thousands Arab students reportedly staying home.

The dispute revolves around content in some textbooks that the Education Ministry deemed is incitement and demanded be removed. The Jerusalem municipality edited and reprinted the textbooks to remove the problematic content, the Haaretz daily reported.

Among the content removed from the books were Paleostinian flags, pictures of late Paleostinian leader Yasser Arafat and texts about the Paleostinian right of return, the Ynet news site reported, citing protest organizers. References to "prisoners and refugees" were changed to "teachers and women," they complained, and a sentence about the Moslem commandment to "carry out jihad" was removed.

"We want our children to learn our Paleostinian curriculum, and it’s our right that [the curriculum] be in all Jerusalem schools," Ramadan Taha, a spokesperson for the striking schools, told Ynet.

He claimed 95 percent of Arab school in East Jerusalem were participating, though Haaretz said only some 60% of the 117,000 Arab pupils in the city were kept home.

Organizers have threatened to keep the schools shut until the city backs down from a plan to earmark extra funds to schools that adopt the Israeli-approved textbooks, the Kan public broadcaster reported.

The Jerusalem Municipality said in a statement that it is "making great efforts to enable all pupils in the city to study as they want, giving them the option to choose the Israeli curriculum without forcing it upon them."

The municipality claimed that the strike was declared by "political entities in East Jerusalem, and not by the schools or the parent teacher associations."

It said that the protest is about instructions from the Education Ministry, backed by the municipality, that suitable textbooks should meet "the standards of the UNESCO education charter, having no incitement in study material."

Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Biton claimed on her Twitter account that the edited texts had portrayed Israeli soldiers as murderers and glorified terrorists, threatening to pull operating licenses from schools that did not get rid of such material.

"We won’t allow schools we fund to push incitement, hatred and terror," she wrote.

In July, Shasha-Biton gave six schools in East Jerusalem a year to remove what she said was incitement against Israel and the Israeli army from curriculum, or they would lose authorization to operate.

The schools were found to be using textbooks that included "the glorification of prisoners and their armed struggle against the State of Israel, conspiracy theories about withholding treatment from patients and intentional harm to medical staff, accusations of [Israel] being responsible for the water crisis in the Paleostinian Authority and grave claims about killings, displacements and military massacres," the Education Ministry said in a statement at the time.

Israel has for years attempted to change what is taught in Arab East Jerusalem schools. In 2018, the government launched a five-year plan that aimed to pump NIS 445 million ($122.8 million) into overhauling East Jerusalem schools, which had suffered from decades of neglect. But nearly 47 percent of the funds were to be conditioned on schools moving to the Israeli education system, drawing complaints from locals and rights groups.

The plan has tripled the number of students using the Israeli curriculum, according to Haaretz, bringing it from 5,000 students five years ago to 16,000 currently.

Ahead of High Holidays, Israelis are warned that Iran, IS seek to attack them abroad
[IsrelTo,es] National Security Council urges citizens to check advisories before travel; Mossad foiled several potential attacks against Israelis in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
earlier this year

Israel issued a travel alert on Monday ahead of the Jewish High Holidays, warning that Iran
...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979...
and Islamist terror groups are seeking to carry out terror attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets.

The National Security Council urged citizens traveling over the holidays to check the individual advisories for countries before they purchase their tickets. The High Holidays is one of the preferred periods for Israelis to schedule trips abroad.

"We estimate that in the near future Iran will continue to promote harm to Israeli targets around the world, both in countries close to Iran and countries in the West and Europe," the update read.

The National Security Council added that terror groups, such as the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and its supporters, "continue to show motivation" to carry out attacks against Jews and Israelis across the globe.

"This is backed up by frank statements on the part of the heads of organizations that call for harm to Israelis and Jews," it said.

Security officials warned of attacks in Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
by existing Iranian assets on the continent.

A security bigshot said that several Iranian attempts to attack dissidents had been uncovered recently in Europe, indicating the regime has infrastructure and personnel in place that could be directed against Israelis.

The security official said there were no specific alerts regarding attack attempts, but said, "We need to keep our eyes open," according to the Kan public broadcaster.

"There were activities in Western Europe and Scandinavia against opposition figures, and also reports of activities against American officials on European soil," a security source told Ynet.

"Wherever they have the ability to act and they have infrastructure and opportunity, they will not hesitate to act," the source said.

In May, the National Security Council issued a stern warning to Israelis in Turkey to leave the country and for potential travelers to stay away, after receiving intelligence that there was an immediate threat of an Iranian plot to kidnap and murder citizens.

Police to boost Jerusalem presence amid terror alerts ahead of holidays
[IsraelTimes] Tens of thousands of Israelis and tourists are expected to visit the city during the Jewish new year, which starts next Sunday night.

Police said Sunday that they were preparing to boost security in Jerusalem to keep Israelis and tourists safe as tens of thousands of people were expected to visit the capital during the upcoming Jewish High Holidays.

Jerusalem District Commander Doron Turgeman said that police had received intelligence alerts of potential terror attacks in the city during the holidays, and that 2,000 officers would be deployed to protect major events during the period, while the number of cops on cycle of violences will be doubled to decrease police response time to any potential incidents.

Police will focus operations on events in Jerusalem’s Old City and the Western Wall, including the traditional prayers of supplication, or selichot, in the lead-up to the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) and Yom Kippur, in addition to the priestly blessings during the week of Sukkot and the large crowds expected for Simhat Torah.

Several roads in the vicinity of the Old City will be closed during the selichot and Rosh Hashanah events as necessary, and vehicles will be forbidden from entering the Old City during those times.

Religious festivities tend to be a tense time in Jerusalem, as throngs of people descend on the city and its holy sites, increasing the likelihood of festivities between followers of different faiths. During the Moslem holy month of Ramadan earlier in the year, tensions flared on the Temple Mount, with police entering the compound to disperse Paleostinian rioters on several occasions.

The site is the holiest place in Judaism and the third-holiest place in Islam, as well as a frequent flashpoint for violence. Non-Moslems are allowed to visit the site at certain hours, but are officially barred from praying there (though quiet prayers have increasingly been allowed, to the chagrin of Moslems).

Lebanon arrests, then releases US Jew over suspected Israel espionage — report
The US State Department used to issue a second passport just for travel to Israel, in order to prevent just this kind of dangerous stupidity.
[IsraelTimes] Man in his 20s reportedly detained for several days after Lebanese authorities find out he booked Beirut hotel reservation from Israel

Lebanese security forces arrested an American Jew last week after finding out he had recently been in Israel, according to a Monday report.

He was detained in Beirut and released after several days, the Kan public broadcaster reported.

Lebanese authorities apparently suspected the man of espionage or collaborating with Israel, the report said.

The man in his 20s had recently studied in a Jerusalem yeshiva and arrived in Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...In 2020 Hezbollah blew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial...
after visiting Cyprus. He intended to travel from Lebanon to the Kurdish region of Iraq, the report said.

Officials involved in the case told Kan that after the man arrived in Lebanon and went to his hotel, Lebanese security forces arrested him there because they had discovered he ordered the hotel reservation from Israel.

His passport also had markings indicating it had been used in Israel.

The incident was kept quiet in Lebanon, as American officials, including Congress members, pressed for the man’s release, the report said.

He was eventually released on Thursday or Friday and traveled from Lebanon to the United Arab Emirates, Kan reported.

The report comes as Israel and Lebanon navigate delicate US-brokered negotiations over access to offshore gas reserves.

Israel and Lebanon are technically at war and do not have diplomatic ties, and the powerful Lebanese Hezbollah terror group has repeatedly threatened Israel over the gas fields.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
said Monday the negotiations to end the maritime border dispute were in their "final stages."

Prime Minister Yair Lapid expressed optimism but said Israel will extract gas from the Karish offshore field with or without an agreement.

Hezbollah affiliated journalist taunts IDF soldiers as he broadcasts from border
[IsraelTimes] Ali Shoeib calls soldiers ’cowards’ and ’occupiers’; says he can stand so close to the enemy only because of Israel’s fear of Hezbollah

A journalist working for a pro-Hezbollah TV channel in Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...In 2020 Hezbollah blew up a considerable portion of Beirut and many of its inhabitants when its ammonium nitrate facility exploded. They blamed it on... somebody else. It wasn't them though. Trust them on that. And it ain't never coming to trial...
broadcast from the Israel-Lebanon border in recent days, just meters from IDF soldiers, taunting them and calling them impotent.

Ali Shoeib, who works for the al-Manar TV network associated with the Hezbollah terror group, can be seen in the footage standing just a few steps from Israeli territory. Behind him, three IDF soldiers and a tank, on the Israeli side of the border, guard him closely.

In the broadcast, Shoeib said, "The Israeli soldier that stands here will not dare to come any closer, only because of Hezbollah’s protection. I can only dare to stand here because of the defense Hezbollah provides from this cowardly enemy."

Shoeib tells viewers that he is standing on liberated land, while the soldiers are located on occupied land.

"We are covering the fear and concern of the Israeli occupation army because of the Lebanese that are coming to this area," referring to the regular stream of Lebanese who regularly try to provoke a reaction from IDF forces serving on the border.

Israel’s Channel 12 news reported that frequent attempts to provoke IDF soldiers are one of the factors behind the building of a border wall to replace the fence between Israel and Lebanon, in light of fears that an incident may spark an unwanted military escalation.

Iran president demands US 'guarantees' on nuclear deal
[An Nahar] Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi demanded U.S. "guarantees" it will not withdraw again from a nuclear deal if it is revived ahead of his debut visit to the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
With Western hopes fading for restoration of the landmark 2015 agreement with world powers, the hardline holy man said in a U.S. television interview that he would still back a "good deal and a fair deal."

But he said: "It needs to be lasting. There needs to be guarantees."

"We cannot trust the Americans because of the behavior that we have already seen from them. That is why if there is no guarantee, there is no trust," he told CBS News' "60 Minutes" program.

Former president Barack Obama
How much damage could he do in four years?... Eight, then...
negotiated the agreement under which Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
drastically scaled back nuclear work in return for promises of sanctions relief.

Three years later, Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
pulled out and reimposed sweeping sanctions. President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
supports a return but Iran's call for guarantees has become a sticking point, with the Democratic administration saying it is impossible in the U.S. system to say what a future president would do.

But Raisi said Trump's pullout showed that US promises are "meaningless."

The parties to the 2015 deal -- which also included Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany and Russia -- saw it as the best way to stop the Islamic republic from building a nuclear bomb -— a goal Tehran has always denied.

Raisi last year succeeded Hassan Rouhani
...Iran's moderate president, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man...
, a relative moderate who spoke to Obama by telephone while visiting New York for the United Nations.

EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell told AFP last week that negotiations to bring Iran back into the deal are stalemated, after proposals from the parties "were converging."

In early August a senior European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
official had said progress was being made on obstacles, including guarantees the US would not again scupper a deal.

Three days later Borrell presented a "final" text of an agreement.

A report from the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog earlier this month that it was unable to certify Iran's nuclear program as "exclusively peaceful" has complicated diplomatic efforts to revive the deal.

Iran is sticking to a demand that, to revive the 2015 deal, the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency must conclude a probe launched when the agency found traces of nuclear material at three undeclared sites.

Aoun voiced his remarks in a meeting in Baabda with U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka.

He also hoped that "exploration in Lebanese waters will contribute to reviving the Lebanese economy, which witnessed a major decline over the past years, in addition to strengthening security and stability in the South."
