Syrians Still Finding their Way in Sweden, Five Years On
[AnNahar] They arrived in unprecedented numbers, pushing a strained Sweden to shut its borders as anti-immigration sentiment flared. Five years later, Syrians are still trying to integrate, some more successfully than others.

Abdallah Saleh, a 24-year-old Paleostinian who fled Damascus in 2014, finally arrived in the southern Swedish town of Malmo in September the following year after a harrowing journey.

Ten months later, he got his first job as a cashier.

Austria to file charges against Turkish spy, interior minister says
[EN.ALGHADEER.TV] Austria will file charges against a person who has confessed to spying for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor...
’s secret service, and authorities are investigating more suspected espionage activities, its interior minister said, warning Turkey this would not be tolerated."This is about an exertion of influence by a foreign power in Austria and this will in no way be accepted," Karl Nehammer told a news conference on Tuesday.

There were clear indications of Ottoman Turkish influence in Austria, said the director general for public safety, Franz Ruf. The new findings came following extensive investigations by Austrian police after violent mostly peaceful festivities between Ottoman Turkish and Kurdish groups in Vienna in June.

One person has fully confessed to having been "recruited by the Ottoman Turkish secret service to spy on other Ottoman Turkish citizens or Austrian citizens with a Ottoman Turkish migration background to then report them to the Ottoman Turkish security authorities", Nehammer said, adding that the judiciary will file charges on suspicion of espionage. He did not give any details about the person.

Austria has found that more than 30 Austrians were detained in Turkey between 2018 and 2020 after entering the country and has indications that the Ottoman Turkish secret service tried to recruit them, the interior minister said.

"Ottoman Turkish espionage has no place in Austria. There is no place for Ottoman Turkish influence on liberty and fundamental rights in Austria. We will fight against it vehemently," Nehammer said, adding that Europol and the Presidency of the European Council had been informed.

Fifth Column
Trump toured damage in Kenosha
[IsraelTimes] US President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
has arrived in Kenosha, Wisconsin, as he prepares to tour damage from protests and violence that followed the Aug. 23 police shooting of Jacob Blake.

Trump’s visit comes despite pleas from Wisconsin’s Democratic governor to stay away for fears of sparking further tumult. Republican Sen. Ron Johnson greets the president when Air Force One touches down in nearby Waukegan, Illinois.

Blake’s family says he’s paralyzed after police shot the 29-year-old Black man seven times in the back. Demonstrators have called for the officer who shot Blake to be fired and face attempted murder charges.

The president has brought along Attorney General William Barr and acting secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf.

Along the motorcade route, a mix of people waved Black Lives Matter signs and many Trump supporters waved Trump 2020 signs.

President Trump touts law and order during Kenosha visit

[CenterSquare] President Donald Trump spent most of his time in Kenosha Tuesday focusing on what ended the city’s violence last week, not what started it.

The president toured parts of the city that were burned to the ground in last week’s violent mostly peaceful protests that turned into riots. Dozens of buildings were burned, as were hundreds of cars. There were also assaults. And there was a shooting that left two people dead and a third person maimed.

The president said a surge of National Guard troops finally brought the chaos to an end.

"The National Guard has been really amazing," Trump said, adding "things began to change" the minute the troops arrived.

Just who sent the troops continues to be a point of contention in Kenosha.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has insisted that he deployed the Wisconsin National Guard and that he, not Trump, asked for out-of-state guard units to come to Kenosha as well.

The president on Tuesday said he offered Evers help, but the governor initially refused.

"I wish the governor would have accepted night one as opposed to night three," the president said. But Trump did thank Evers for accepting the help when he did.

When Kenosha leaders last week first asked for 500 National Guard Troops, the governor sent 125. After three nights of violence, local leaders asked for 1,500 troops, and the governor sent 500.

Trump that day offered 2,000 troops. That’s when Gov. asked out-of-state troops to come to Kenosha.

The protests and riots began after the Aug. 22 shooting of 29-year-old Jacob Blake in the back by a Kenosha police officer. Blake, who had an active warrant out for his arrest at the time, was seen on video fighting off officers and moving to get into his car when the officer shot him. Kenosha police said he was armed with a knife. His attorney refuted that.

DHS Chief: Feds ‘Targeting And Investigating’ Heads Of BLM, Antifa And Those Who Fund Them
We asked, and now will receive. I’ll bake if someone stocks the bar in the O Club for a proper celebration with lashings of schadenfreude.
[DailyWire] Acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Chad Wolf told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Monday night that the Department of Justice (DOJ) was investigating the heads of Black Lives Matter and Antifa
...the armed wing of the Democratic Party...
over the violent mostly peaceful rioting that has broken out in Democratic-controlled cities across the United States.

Wolf began the segment by noting that 77-year-old Democratic presidential nominee Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Candidate for president in 2020. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant...
was "delusional" after Biden suggested today that there would be more violence if Trump won re-election.

They raise funds publicly and openly: online and through registered charities and foundations and PACs. Total sums raised this far > &1 billion

#11  On the comparison w Al Qaeda: BLM-Antifa haven't (yet) learned the arts of secret societies, subterfuge, disinformation and taqqiyah.

Every other modern insurrection - Russian 19c anarchists and 20c bolaheviks; Chinese tongs; Muslim Brotherhood; other 20c commie movements across the 3rd World - mastered the art of concealment. Mao instructed his followers to blend in with the countryside, to join the majority population and "swim like fish in the sea."

But our BLM Antifa shitheads love their social media. They do the exact opposite of every other modern revolutionary movement: operate in the open and attack the people instead of the State. Kill shopkeepers instead of tech oligarchs. Attack the poor folk instead of Pelosi and other tools.

This is the stupidest rebellion we've ever seen. How could it possibly have lasted so long, if not for the authorities' active refusal to crush it?

Portland shooting victim Aaron Danielson was 'hunted' down and 'executed,' friend says
[NYPOST] The man rubbed out after a Portland rally was "hunted" down in what his pal who was with him believes was a "planned" execution.

"They executed my partner," Chandler Pappas told the Common Sense Conservative about watching Aaron "Jay" Danielson’s death Saturday in the latest round of violence in the Oregon city.

"They hunted him down — they hunted us down," he said, believing the gunman noticed their caps in support of the right-wing group Patriot Prayer, which Pappas again wore during the interview.

"It didn’t even register that someone was pointing a gun at us until the shots went off and he took off running," he said of the shooting that was caught on video.

"I turn to check on my partner and he’s on the ground," he recalled.

"They blew his heart out. He was probably dead before he hit the ground," he said.

He insisted the shooter was a stranger who targeted them because they had wandered away from the hundreds who joined a pro-President Trump caravan in the chaotic city that night.

"I think it was planned, I think they were looking for someone to hurt," Pappas said.

"I think they were looking for someone just like us, who was down there, unprotected — who didn’t go and bring guns because we didn’t have the intention to kill people," he said.

"Jay’s dead because he believes something different than them," he said, insisting his 39-year-old friend was "not a racist" or xenophobe.

"He’s an independent man. And he’s a good man. And he didn’t do anything to earn a bullet in the chest," he said.

Pappas urged Trump to "send troops" to stop the rioters. Asked when they should come, he said, "90 days ago."

"If we don’t get a handle on this, more people are going to die. Anybody who’s read a history book will tell you that," he said.

"This is long past the point of a civil conversation."

#4  #2 No, they are not POW's and neither would BLM/Antifa be POW's. They are not members of a uniformed military acting on behalf of any established government, ANYWHERE.

They are a crowd, there being no recognizable units, of renegades and are 'due' at best minimal treatment. At the end of WWII there was a modest but pointed issue with non-uniformed men under arms trying to do mean things to Allied occupying forces.

The solution was along the lines of '1st Sgt, get a detail of the sick lame and lazy and make sure their weapons are loaded. Get that new Lt into town to round up 5 respectable citizens and some kind of holy man, then get these jokers some shovels and get them to digging. Oh, and find a stout wall.'

#5  The soldiers of the South were treated as POWs in the insurrection. Uniforms were anything but at times. By your first sentence, the Crown could have considered all those 'rebels' the same. Numerous 'exchanges' were made by both parties in both confrontations and treated the others as POWs in both cases.

#7  Bingo. However, our lords and masters in our judiciary aristocracy will not allow it.
Posted by: Procopius2k || 09/02/2020 10:17 Comments || Top||

#8  Confederate soldiers were treated as POW's, mostly...see Custer in Northern Virginia vs Col Mosby whom he briefly considered a renegade. Also you might consider the guerilla actions in MO/KS, whose ugly legacy reverberates to this day.

That said, Confederate soldiers were highly participatory members of organized units with distinct chains of command. So participatory that some units voted on every issue, rank down to corporal and even at times which orders would be obeyed.

They acted under the direction of officers appointed by an elected government, even if that government's objective was secession and insurrection.

The communist vermin doing the burning and looting are less than none of those things. They would not secede or set up any alternative to anything whatsoever. They want to outrage, provoke, and destroy, mainly at the behest of their check writing masters. When their utility wears off and the money dries up they will go back to being disaffected revolutionary dishwashers.

The Crown DID treat many, many as purely rebels although in a time which pre-dated any international agreements about the treatment of prisoners. The Crown also had learned their lesson from le Francais in the 7 Years' War and maintained their Indian allies to do what might be difficult to reconcile later back in England. Also see Banastre Tarleton and the separate experience of young Andrew Jackson.

), Taliban are now unstoppable. On Pak-Saudi relations, the Retd. DG ISI observed that the Saudis won’t have the kind of role that they had in the new alignment of forces.

While evading a clear answer on his own role in putting together IJI, he admitted that political engineering done by Gen Ayub, Zia and Musharraf ultimately failed as their nemesis cane back to power. It wasn’t a good thing, he observed. On a question whether he feels remorse over his role, he said, "he has no regrets". On his court martial trial, the General came out with a brave face and said he is under no legal restrictions. The issue is not of the book, but something else.

Hamas leader Haniyeh visits Beirut, for first time in 27 years
[IsraelTimes] For the first time in 27 years, Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, chief Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
has returned to Beirut, a spokesperson for the terror group says.

Haniyeh’s visit was suddenly canceled last night before being put back on the agenda this morning. Along with a number of Paleostinian factions based in Beirut, Haniyeh will participate by videoconference in a planned meeting of Paleostinian leaders hosted by Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
in Ramallah.

Haniyeh was last in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
in 1993, after Israel banished 415 Hamas and Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
activists to Lebanon for a period of one and a half to two years. The exile was eventually shortened after pressure from the Clinton administration and debate within Israel over whether the action was legal.

The United Nations

Security Council also condemned the mass deportation at the time, calling it a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

For those interested in a deep dive on Lebanon's shattered economy, on August 4th, 2020, the same day of the massive explosion, economist Jim Rickards released a detailed monograph about it, Lebanon in Crisis.
It's quite long.
[FDD.org] Lebanon is unraveling. Last year’s massive public protests over the government’s inability to collect trash or provide other key services now seem like a minor problem. The COVID-19 pandemic has all but wiped out already falling remittances from the Lebanese diaspora. With its economy in a tailspin, the government missed a payment on a $1.2 billion eurobond in March and effectively defaulted on all outstanding eurobond obligations, including an additional $2.7 billion of payments due in April and June.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, and others are working to assess the problem and offer solutions. But with Lebanon, it will not be easy. The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) commissioned renowned economist James Rickards to assess the challenges and damage. Mr. Rickards, who is an advisor to FDD’s Center on Economic and Financial Power and has advised governments and banks on past bailouts, spent more than four months studying Lebanon’s economic implosion. He makes it clear that this crisis will be an enduring one.

Google Refuses to Show Negative Search Suggestions About Black Lives Matter
[Breitbart] Google’s search autocomplete feature fails to generate negative suggestions for the term "BLM," in stark contrast to other search engines.

Typing the words "BLM is" on Google currently only returns the suggestion "BLM israel." It does not show a long list of suggestions, which is unusual for a popular search term and suggests that a list of suggestions formerly existed but was removed.

Typing "BLM is " with a space after "is" generates no search suggestions at all — highly unusual for a search term that has recently seen a massive spike in attention from users.

On DuckDuckGo, Google’s privacy-focused competitor, searching for "BLM is " generates a normal list of suggestions, some of which have negative connotations.

This story has echoes of the 2016 election, in which it was discovered that Google ‐ in contrast to Bing and Yahoo ‐ was not generating negative search suggestions for the search term"Hillary Clinton," despite the popularity of such searches among users.
