#1 This link is pretty lame. I listened to it a number of times, and I could come up with "how wicked was that?" and "how are we gonna . . .?", but most of the sites commenters are convinced it's a CIA-produced tape. My question is, if the CIA was going to the trouble of making this propaganda tape, don't you think they would have listened to it before releasing it and edited out the "American voices" at the end? For all I know, the Arabic phrase for "How am I going to get that infidel, Jew's blood out of my carpet?" sounds just like "How wicked was that?"

#2 Tibor,

I would find a download of the video from another site and listen to the audio. The audio on that siteprobably had the American voice mixed with it. It only takes a few minutes to do this. Do you know anyone over 25 who says "how wicked was that?"

#3 I don't know if the tape has been doctored or not, but there is sufficient 'weird' stuff related to Berg that my theory that he was a jihadi wannabe (or pretending to be) seems plausible and he was killed by his co-jihadis. The CIA conspiracy stuff is just plain silly.

#4 Why would the co-jihadis be speaking in English, Phil?

#5 Angie here is a scenario. Berg connects with jihadis in the USA. Whether he believes or not is irrelevant. He goes to to Iraq with his connections which includes American educated muslims or converts. They decide, possibly because he is jew, that he is worth more dead than alive and they kill him. You have to realize that a lot of people could pass as Americans, including me.

Does anyone know if the Call of Prayer was broadcasted this morning in Hamtramck, Michigan?

#8 MS - I read the link and it fails the John of Occam test. Removing the CIA (conspiracy) results in a simpler explanation.

#9 Phil B, what's your explanation for the orange jumpsuit? It is strange.

#10 Phil B, you got me really interested in this, so don't blame me!
This site compares the bullet-proof vests worn by the Berg terrorists and by US military policemen. I find that to be strange too.

Here's Marc Perkel's comment about the orange jumpsuit.

This is what I consider the strongest red flag that he was at the prison. Americans put prosiners in orange so that if they escape they are easier to spot. The last thing a kidnapper is going to do is put a hostage in orange. Orange is what you put on people who you want to attract attention to.

Berg was in custody of the US. Something the US is still lying about. So - when he was released do you think they are going to send him out on the streets of Iraq wearing orange? Not hardly! Orange means pick this guy up and bring him back to prison. They would have taken the prison garb away and gave him his clothes back.

Even if for some reason he got out with prison grab on - the first thing he would have done is get regular clothes. You just would not walk around Iraq wearing orange.

So - then if he's abducted again by terrorists - and lets say that they somehow had clothing just like the prison garb - are they going to put him in it? Not hardly. If you are a terrorist kidnapper the last thing you want to do is draw attention your way. So - orange prison outfit - no way!

I think that's a good comment.

#13 Orange jumpsuit conspiracy theory debunked:

There are plenty of prisons in Iraq, Syria, Iran, maybe even Jordan, SA, Kuwait, from where to get spare prison garb. Not to mention that a lot of prisoners were released during the war in Iraq. Finally, considering that Berg was filmed with an amateur camera, is it even certain that the jumpsuit was orange?

#14 Regret I can't find the link, but a freelancer in Baghdad reported meeting him at a local gym the day before he would have been kidnapped. If he was held by the US, he was released before his final disappearance.

Re #13. Sure, the terrorists might have dressed him in a prison jumpsuit as a symbolic act. And sure they might have obtained a prison jumpsuit. I suppose that's the most likely explanation.

Nevertheless, I think there are enough strange elements in this case to merit the attention that some people are giving it.

I would be interested to know if chairs of that kind are sold in Iraq. The combination of that jumpsuit and that chair is quite remarkable.

#16 I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago, just after Nick was "murdered". I'm pretty sure I saw him. He was with another, older guy. The other one was in a white jumpsuit, had dark hair slicked back, big Terminator sunglasses. Looked familiar, but I just couldn't place him.

#18 The chair is not significant. I must have a seen (literally) a thousand places in Asia that have chairs that look like that. They are extremely common. The orange jumpsuit is clearly symbolic of Gitmo.

As for Berg not seeming to be afraid that fits with my theory that he is a Jihadi and was cooperating in making a piece of propaganda, and he was not aware of the ending.
