The Lieutenant Wouldn't Like It
h/t Instapundit
When I tell people I was raised in Heinlein’s books, they laugh a little.

They shouldn’t.

I started reading Heinlein as a teenager as the world around me fell into dual madness, because more and more of my teachers were boomers full of the ideas of the late sixties early seventies, and the country itself was spiraling further and further into Marxist insanity.

Heinlein’s books were a refuge, where logic made sense, things worked, and I often found that he could explain things I couldn’t. Or not explain exactly, but get beneath the level of indoctrination and slogans, to make people understand the other point of view.

Racial equity in NYC schools
h/t Instapundit
The sad saga of New York City schools gets even ... "better" as news from one of its "implicit bias" workshops indicates that educators are taught to favor black children over white ‐ despite their socioeconomic status.

The city has contracted so-called "diversity experts" to the tune of almost $1 million, and faces an imminent lawsuit alleging school chancellor Richard Carranza has created an atmosphere that is "hostile toward whites."

Last week, the New York Post reported that "diversity" seminars had taught that the foundations of Western Civilization are examples of "white supremacy"; now the Post details how workshop leaders have framed the term "equity":

"If I had a poor white male student and I had a middle-class black boy, I would actually put my equitable strategies and interventions into that middle class black boy because over the course of his lifetime he will have less access and less opportunities than that poor white boy." So said Darnisa Amante, founder of "DEEP" ‐ the Disruptive Equity Education Project.
You just gotta see her pic

#1  I think a civil war would actually be better than complacence and somnolence delivering America into Wakandan hands, 'without incident'.

White people keep citing the low percentage of the irreconcilable black population, taking solace in the numbers. They forget that government means 'rule of the few over the rest'. There's a significant part of that minor colored population that has hijacked so much already and continues its collective quest to literally remove whites from all power. I call them Wakandans.

Darnisa Amante is another Wakandan.

Gun Control Lobbyist Arrested for Assault, Domestic Violence, False Imprisonment
[PJMedia] Robert Blaisdell, managing partner for Demers, Blaisdell & Parsol Inc. and a lobbyist for Michael Bloomberg's "Everytown" gun control group, was arrested earlier in May on a whole host of charges in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was charged on domestic violence-related crimes of simple assault, false imprisonment, and criminal mischief. Police say Blaisdell "knowingly" confined a family member, trapping his victim by "holding the laundry room door closed over a period of several minutes." Police claim that Blaisdell also stepped on the person's hand during the incident, and also allegedly destroyed their cellphone.

Patch.com calls him "a well-known fixture" at the Concord statehouse, and that his recent clients include NH Troopers Association, NH Police Association, NH Court Reporters Association, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, Walmart, Bank of America, and FedEx. And, of course, Bloomberg's nationwide Everytown for Gun Safety group has a $36 million dollar annual budget according to its most recent filing, and includes well-known subsidiaries Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action.

#2  I wouldn't give Mexico another penny in foreign aid until they fix their damn sewer. But then, I probably wouldn't give it to them anyway. Maybe we could dig a canal to reroute all that sewage back into the streets of Tijuana.

I remember a long, long time ago surfing at Imperial Beach, jogging all the way to the border and body surfing in the shore break there, wading across the Tijuana River. IB was never the nicest beach. The City of Imperial Beach was never the nicest city, not like affluent Coronado to its north. But at least back then you could go in the water without getting sick. Wouldn't go anywhere near it now.

Springfield Armory Partners With Hillsdale College
[NRA Shooting Illustrated] Springfield Armory announced a partnership with Hillsdale College, a private, liberal-arts school in Hillsdale, MI, with a focus on equipping students with an understanding of the U.S. Constitution, individual rights and the concept of self-government.

As part of its curriculum, Hillsdale College offers students an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of firearm-handling and safety, as well as participate in the shooting sports, particularly in the form of its competitive shotgun and competition-pistol teams.

"When we were approached by Hillsdale College to sponsor their shooting team, you know, it was just an absolute, enthusiastic ’Yes!’" said Dennis Reese, CEO of Springfield Armory. "To me, it is exactly the kind of program that Springfield Armory is really interested in, and we outfitted the entire team with XD(M)s and 1911s."

Large Tornado Hits Dayton Ohio
A 'large and dangerous' tornado has wreaked havoc in western Ohio after tearing through and causing widespread damage and injuries.

The destructive tornado first touched down in the city of Trotwood, just outside Dayton, at about 11pm on Monday night before moving through the state.

The National Weather Service described the tornado as 'extremely dangerous' and warned residents to remain in their shelters as it tore through the heavily populated area.

'This is a life threatening situation,' the NWS warned in a grave tweet.

#9  From the Cincinnati link in my early morning comment, which was updated 40 minutes ago:

Governor Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency for the three affected counties [Greene, Mercer and Montgomery], allowing them access to disaster relief funding and personnel from the Ohio Emergency Management Agency. President Donald Trump tweeted his well-wishes late Tuesday afternoon.

One person, 81-year-old Melvin Dale Hannah, died when a tornado flung a parked car through the walls of his Celina home. Hundreds more were injured.

The cities of Celina, Circleville and Trotwood — about 70, 76 and 10 miles from Dayton, respectively — were among the hardest-hit.

The response would require a "multi-day restoration effort," Dayton Power & Light said in an early morning tweet. At about 12:15 p.m. the company said 70,000 customers have been impacted, and 360 out-of-state crew members were coming to the area to assist.

The city of Dayton urged residents to conserve water after the storms cut power to water plants and pump stations, and issued a boil advisory for all Dayton and Montgomery County water customers. This does not impact jurisdictions with separate systems, said Dayton City Manager Shelley Dickstein.

On Facebook I saw that Dayton-area friends are posting that they are available to help with the clean up, they just need to be pointed at those in need. So people aren’t waiting for the professionals to handle things for them.

Violence in multiple Brazil prisons leave over 55 dead: official
[Aljazeera] More than 55 inmates have been found dead over the last two days in separate prisons in northern Brazil, authorities said on Monday.

The majority of the victims was found in the Antonio Trindade Penal Institute near Manaus, the capital of Amazonas state, where the facilities in question are located.

The Amazonas state prison agency said the prisoners found dead on Monday all showed signs of asphyxia.

The federal government said it was sending reinforcements to boost security in the state's prisons.

Later on Monday, a statement from the Amazonas state penitentiary department revised the number of deaths to 40 from an earlier 42 and said authorities had regained control of the four prisons. No other details were provided.

Monday's clashes took place a day after 15 inmates were killed during riots at Manaus' Anisio Jobim Prison Complex, authorities said.

Those clashes broke out about 11:00am (15:00 GMT) during visiting hours at the facility, located about 28km from Manaus.

"It was a fight between the inmates. There had never been deaths during the visits," Colonel Marcos Vinicius Almeida told a news conference on Sunday.

We were at a festival and noticed a bad guy casing one of the sisters and her boy friend who were seperated from the rest of us in the crowd and I started to go over to where they were but three of the sisters immediately cut me off and the other three went over and grabbed sister number 7 and the entire family left the festival immediately. I asked the one who spoke English why did everyone leave and she asked did you not see the rest of the suspects dangerous gang in tbe crowd ready to move in to assist him if there was confrontation? I had dangerously misunderstood the situation in this third world area that the 7 Brazilian sisters knew very well. This was an upper class family. They did not interact with the general third world population around tbem at all. It was just too dangerous in that Amazon part of Brazil.

Lindsey Graham: Obama Officials Worried About Being 'Exposed' by Declassification
[Daily Caller] Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham asserted Sunday that the former government officials opposing declassification of Russia probe documents "are worried about being exposed."

In an interview on "Fox News Sunday" with Chris Wallace, Graham also argued Democrats are unconcerned with whether the FBI misled the federal surveillance court in order to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

"I want all the documents around the FISA warrant application released. I want to find out exactly how the counterintelligence operation began," Graham said. "I think transparency is good for the American people. Not one Democrat seems to care."

"I wish some Democrat would come forward to find out if the FISA court was defrauded by the FBI and the Department of Justice."

On Thursday, President Trump granted Attorney General William Barr the authority to declassify documents from the Russia probe. He also instructed the heads of several federal agencies, including the CIA and FBI, to provide documents to Barr as part of his review of the origins of the investigation. (RELATED: Ex-CIA Officials Fume About Declassification Order, Ignoring Previous Leaks Of Secret Sources And Methods)

Barr is looking into the origins of the FBI’s Russia investigation, as well as the surveillance activities carried out by the FBI and CIA against Trump associates.

Republicans have sought declassification of documents related to the FBI’s handling of the Steele dossier. The bureau relied on the document, which was unverified and funded by the Clinton campaign and DNC, in applications for the Carter Page FISA warrants.

Trump’s order has prompted a backlash from numerous Obama administration officials, including former CIA Director John Brennan.

Libya: Flight data places mysterious planes in Haftar territory
[Aljazeera] Cargo planes were discovered flying clandestinely into bases controlled by renegade Libyan military commander Khalifa Haftar and dropping off unidentifed payloads at the time his forces attacked Tripoli last month, an Al Jazeera Arabic TV investigation found.

Satellite images and flight data show two Russian-made Ilyushin 76 aircraft registered to a joint Emirati-Kazakh company called Reem Travel made several trips between Egypt, Israel, and Jordan before landing at military bases controlled by Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) in early April, just as it attempted to seize the capital.

Flight transponders appear to have been turned off while flying into the war-torn North African country. Libya is currently under an arms embargo imposed by the United Nations after years of fighting.

Video published by Haftar's forces shows one of the cargo planes - with the registration number UP-I7645 - after landing at LNA's Tamanhant military base in southern Libya. It had taken off from Benghazi in the east, Haftar's stronghold.

Great White North
A Professor Who Argues Against Multicultural Ideology and for Western Exceptionalism Now Fears for His Job
[PJ] I have met University of New Brunswick sociologist and co-founder of the blog Council of European Canadians Ricardo Duchesne only once and found him reserved, thoughtful and modest. A brilliant writer and genuine scholar, he has authored two impeccably-researched volumes on the history of Western civilization and the settler domestication of pre-industrial lands.

In an earlier article for PJ Media, I had occasion to mention Duchesne, who writes in Canada in Decay ‐ one of the most important books in our national literature explaining the emergence of the ideology of immigrant multiculturalism ‐ that Canada is an extreme, though not unique, example of impending ethnocide, "promoting its own replacement by foreigners from other races, religions and cultures." As Duchesne points out in The Uniqueness of Western Civilization, the same form of national self-deprecation we note in Canada is at work in most Western nations today.

Before multiculturalism took root, Duchesne argues, Canada was not an immigrant nation, as the cliché has it, but a European nation built by settlers and pioneers. The same formulation applies to the U.S. and Australia. He notes a critical difference between categories of newcomers: pioneers create, immigrants contribute (at their best). Multiculturalism, however, which radically changes the identity of a country, is neither a creation nor a contribution; it is "an experiment imposed from above." Tensions inevitably arise between the rapidly shrinking European majority and the multi-ethnic, culturally alien brew that is displacing it.

Duschesne lays out his agenda in The Uniqueness of Western Civilization. His central contention, he writes, "will be that the West has always existed in a state of variance from the rest of the world’s cultures," divergences that include, among a plethora of others, "the ’Greek miracle’, the Roman invention of the legal persona, the Papal revolution, the invention of mechanical clocks, the Portuguese voyages of discovery, the Gutenberg revolution, the Cartographic revolution, the Protestant Reformation, the ’rational’ mercantilist state and the ’industrial enlightenment.’" He has no doubt that the "ideals of freedom and the reasoned pursuit of truth were cultivated and realized in the course of Western time."

Predictably, Duchesne has been attacked as a white supremacist in the leftist media ‐ The Huffington Post, the CBC, Global TV, and other venues ‐ and by an open-letter cabal of 25 of his UNB colleagues engaged in a war against "hate" ‐ that is, against anything that disagrees with their anti-Western ideology. He will almost certainly find himself under formal investigation by the university, which is now reviewing complaints against him.

Afghanistan
U.S. Commander: Al Qaeda Operating ‘Across' Afghanistan
[Free Beacon] Al Qaeda is operating "across" Afghanistan in several regions, according to Gen. Austin Scott Miller, the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

"We have seen al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Yes, in different parts of Afghanistan," Miller told TOLONews. "In different parts of Afghanistan, we can find them, so it's not one particular region, it's across the country."

The Long War Journal, a project of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, has tracked al Qaeda's presence in Afghanistan for more than a decade, creating maps that show the terrorist group's operations and movement in the country. Al Qaeda and its regional branch, al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, are present in 13 Afghan provinces, according to one of the maps.

"The data clearly shows that al Qaeda and allied terrorist groups have been operating on Afghan soil for the past two decades with the approval of the Taliban," the Journal reported. "These terrorist organizations often operate in areas controlled by the Taliban‐and the jihadists killed in coalition or Afghan raids often die alongside members of the Afghan Taliban."

#10  When orchestrated well and executed efficiently, with lawyers and the underworld and local law enforcement lining their own pockets along the way, it can be done.

The start to such an operation will have to be the hardest part, will need the most resolve and will entail a lot of self-doubt, but eventually it would turn into a well oiled machine fed by corpses of missing persons, and churning out billions in illegal organ sales (best way to use a body). Proceeds from this could finance its own expansion, bribing of judiciary if actors were caught out, silencing of media and 'righteous' handbasket weavers.

I actually wrote a paper on the ways to remove islam altogether from communities outward, forcing the urban ones to convert, driving the have-not muslims into self destruction and wasting the remnant systematically.

Olde Tyme Religion
Iran shuts down church, removes cross
[Jpost] Iranian intelligence shut down a Presbyterian church and removed its cross from the bell tower, the Assyrian International News Agency (AINA) announced Sunday, reported Radio Farda.

The church was located in the city of Tabriz in northwestern Iran and it belonged to the Assyrian community.

According to the report, the building was confiscated by the Revolutionary Court in 2011, but its members had been able to continue to use it until earlier this month.

"Intelligence agents stormed the 100-year-old church, officially recognized as a national heritage site in Iran, on Thursday, May 9, changed all the locks, tore down the cross from the church tower, and ordered the churchwarden to leave," Article 18, a non-profit organization based in London announced. The group's stated goal is the protection and promotion of religious freedom in Iran.

Eiko, the state agency responsible for the raid together with the Ministry of Intelligence, is under the direct control of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to the report, the congregants were left in shock and have not been allowed to hold services in the building since the raid.

Before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Assyrian community in Iran totaled approximately 200,000 people, Radio Farda noted.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
since then many have fled and in 2015 only 32,000 Assyrians were left in the country, mostly in Tehran.

"Many churches owned by Protestants have been confiscated," explained Article18’s advocacy director, Mansour Borji.

Drawing the Back the Curtain: Hamas Runs International BDS Campaign From Gaza
[Jpost] The US and EU classified terrorist organization Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", is waging a Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against the Jewish state, revealing violent structures of a movement that claims to use peaceful tactics.

Dr. Basem Naim described himself as "Head of Boycott Campaign & Hamas Official" in a May 17 statement protesting the German Bundestag’s (parliament) resolution recognizing BDS as an antisemitic campaign.

Naim wrote that "We condemn passing this unfair resolution by the German Bundestag that is against the Paleostinian people’s right to resist the Israeli occupation, which is the most terrible occupation in history, with all means possible, given that boycott is a peaceful means of resistance against the Israeli occupation."

Israel’s government does not occupy the Hamas-controlled Gazoo Strip. In 2005, the Israeli government withdrew from Gazoo.

Naim added "On the other hand, we call on Germany to reverse this resolution for it provides support for the Israeli occupation and protects it from being held accountable for crimes committed against the Paleostinian people. Moreover, this move does not serve security and stability in the region. We expect Germany to provide support for the Paleostinian people until they restore their freedom and establish their independent state."

The non-binding German Bundestag resolution said the BDS campaign, including its "Don’t Buy" stickers, recalled "the most terrible chapter in German history" and revived memories of the Nazi movement’s slogan "Don’t buy from Jews."

"The pattern of argument and methods of the BDS movement are antisemitic," the resolution noted.

The parliament’s resolution said the government should not finance organizations that support BDS or question the existence of the Jewish state. Neo-Nazi parties in Germany such as The Third Way and the National Democratic Party (NPD) advocate BDS against Israel.

The role of the violent jihadi organization Hamas in BDS raises question marks over claims of non-violence from Omar Barghouti, a Paleostinian activist and the cofounder of the BDS movement. After Barghouti was denied entry into the United States in April, he told the Russia state-controlled outlet: "The US administration has been mobilized now to do Israel’s bidding in trying to silence Paleostinian, Israeli and international human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
defenders, who are active in this extremely effective and very important non-violent BDS movement." Russia Today, or RT, frequently promotes a sympathetic view of BDS activists and the economic warfare campaign against Israel.

BDS activists disrupted a talk in May in Aurich, Germany held by the Israeli author Arye Sharuz Shalicar. In 2017, BDS activists stormed a panel discussion with the Israeli Holocaust survivor Deborah Weinstein in Berlin.

Iraq
Iraqi premier to reopen heavily fortified Green Zone during Eid al-Fitr
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has ordered the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad to be open during Eid al-Fitr, his media office said.

The 10-square-kilometer area, which is home to several government buildings and foreign embassies, will be open for 24 hours as of the first day of Eid al-Fitr, slated for Tuesday, June 4, said the office in a press statement.

Eid al-Fitr is the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal. It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer. It is a holiday in almost all Islamic countries.

The move is expected to be warmly welcomed by the Iraqi people as the zone’s closure was seen as a symbol of the isolation of Iraq’s rulers from citizens.

The closure of the governmental area also caused considerable traffic disruption in the city of seven million people.

The zone on the bank of the Tigris River has been largely off limits to ordinary Iraqis due to security concerns since the 2003 U.S. invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein.

The zone is a home to several government buildings and foreign embassies, including that of the United States. Checkpoints and concrete barriers have for years blocked bridges and highways leading into the zone.

The government area has witnessed several protests over the past few years, demanding an end to widely-spread corruption and improvement of public services.

SC makes history by hearing case at Karachi registry via e-Court system
[DAWN] The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday, for the first time in the judicial history of Pakistain, began hearing cases via e-Court ‐ a system based on video-link connectivity, the apex court announced in a blurb.

"Today, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and comprising Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel formally initiated the proceedings of cases through the e-Court system at principal seat Islamabad and the SC Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
registry," read the blurb.

"The advocates of Karachi, whose cases were fixed for hearing at the SC Karachi registry, argued their cases through a video-link and the bench at principal seat heard and decided the cases."

The chief justice, while hearing the first case through the technology, remarked that a big milestone had been achieved in the judicial history of Pakistain.

"The facility will benefit lawyers and litigants to save them time and money," the apex court said.

Jurists are of the view that by enhancing access to the apex court’s principal seat, the e-Court facility will discourage adjournments and encourage the legal fraternity to plead their cases without delays.

Soldier martyred as terrorists raid North Waziristan checkpost
[DAWN] A Pakistain Army soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire with Lions of Islam who raided a checkpost in North Wazoo on Monday, the Inter-Services Public Relations said in a blurb issued early this morning.

"Terrorists raided Makki Garh Post, Shawal Valley, North Waziristan," the ISPR said, adding that "troops effectively repulsed" the attempt.

"In exchange of fire, a soldier of the Pak Army embraced shahadat," the statement added.

The ISPR said five bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from a nullah in North Waziristan's Boya area, approximately 1.5 kilometres away from the Kharqamar checkpost, where an exchange of fire on Sunday killed three people and injured 15, including five soldiers.

"During patrolling in Boya area, where yesterday an Army post was attacked by a group, five bodies with bullet wounds have been found from a nullah, approximately 1.5 kilometres away from Kharqamar post. Identification of dead bodies in process," the statement said.

A day earlier, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan had termed the attack on the check post unfortunate and stressed that nobody in any way would be allowed to undermine the country’s image, dignity, national identity and national interest.

Speaking to different television channels, she said the government would take action against the attackers as per law and the Constitution.

Syria Army, Turkish-backed rebels clash in eastern Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Ottoman Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) clashed in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate last night.

According to a military source in Aleppo city, the Ottoman Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army troops opened fire on the Syrian Arab Army soldiers between the towns of Tadef and al-Bab; this prompted a fierce exchange of gunfire for nearly an hour on Sunday.

The Syrian Arab Army did not report any casualties, nor did the Free Syrian Army.

Despite the presence of both Russian and Ottoman Turkish troops, the al-Bab has experienced sporadic violence over the last two months, with the SAA and FSA blaming one another for the hostilities.

Lebanese media: Israeli Air Force destroys own spying device north of border
[IsraelTimes] According to al-Mayadeen, which has ties to Hezbollah, Leb’s security forces are searching for remains after drone bombs instruments.

An Israeli aircraft on Monday struck and destroyed a spying device in Lebanese territory, a local media outlet with ties to the Hezbollah terror group reported.

According to the report in al-Mayadeen the Israeli device was bombed between Nmairiyeh and Zefta in the south of the country. It said security forces were working to locate the remains of the device.

Earlier in the day the Israeli military clashed with some 15 Lebanese nationals along the northern border, firing tear gas and stun grenades at them, after two men scaled the border fence and attempted to damage it, the army said.

According to Lebanese media, a riot broke out after Israel installed security cameras along the Blue Line, the internationally recognized dividing line between Israel and Leb, near the town of Kafr Kila.

The military said the demonstration dispersed shortly after the soldiers fired the riot-control munitions at them. There were no Lebanese injuries reported.
An earlier Times of Israel article expands on the riot:
The IDF said approximately 15 people participated in the riot, which was held near Fatima Gate, once known as the Good Fence Crossing, was used from 1982 to 2000, during Israel’s occupation of southern Leb.

Over the years, the area around Kafr Kila has seen a number of protests and festivities between Lebanese citizens and the Israeli military.

Israel and Leb do not have a formal border due to territorial disputes; however, they largely abide by the UN-recognized Blue Line between the two countries.

Sudan Islamists back army in push to preserve sharia: AFP Report
[AlAhram] With talks suspended between protest leaders and Sudan's military over a transfer of power to civilian rule, Islamist movements are backing the army in the hope it will keep sharia law in place.

Islamist parties stayed on the sidelines during the months of nationwide protests that led to the April ouster of long-time ruler Omar al-Bashir
Head of the National Congress Party. He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself president-for-life. He has fallen out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it.
They have since not joined the protest alliance at loggerheads with the generals over the makeup of a new governing body, which would rule the country for a three-year transitional period.

and prosecutors didn’t seem to be in the mood to let her off lightly. The charges she’s facing could carry decades of jail time, not to mention the end of her judicial career.

But with a bit more time to think about it, the US Attorney handling the case appeared to have a change of heart. He decided to offer Joseph a deal in which she could avoid criminal prosecution if she admitted her behavior was improper and managed to not get into any more trouble for a year. A pretty sweet deal, eh? Apparently not in the judge’s opinion. She turned it down flat.

Militants launch rocket attack on Syrian As-Suqaylabiyah
[IraqiNews] Terrorist groups in Syria have resumed bombing the As-Suqaylabiyah City, in the northern countryside of Hama, using rocket shells.

SANA News Agency reported that the terrorist groups again violated a de-escalation agreement, and shelled the city with rockets.

The attack was launched by Death Eaters, who were holed up in the northwestern countryside, SANA added. The bandidos murderous Moslems shelled with rockets the residential buildings and houses in the city, causing damage to property only.

Malaysia's last male Sumatran rhino dies
[DAWN] Malaysia's last surviving male Sumatran rhino died on Monday, wildlife officials said, leaving behind only one female in the country and pushing the critically-endangered species closer to extinction.
Rhinos are extinct in the Americas too.
Once found as far away as eastern India and throughout Malaysia, the Sumatran rhino has been almost wiped out, with fewer than 80 left, according to the World Wildlife Fund.
It's all our fault.
Only a handful of the creatures remain in the wilds of Indonesia.
We have people hunting them down though.
Sabah Wildlife Department director Augustine Tuuga said the Malaysian male, Tam, had lived in a nature reserve on Borneo island.
The CIA had been watching him for some time.
The cause of the animal's death was not immediately clear, but previous media reports have suggested it was suffering from kidney and liver problems.
Trump had him shot full of polonium.

Myanmar soldiers jailed for Rohingya killings freed after less than a year
[DAWN] Myanmar has granted early release to seven soldiers placed in durance vile
Please don't kill me!
for the killing of 10 Rohingya Moslem men and boys during a 2017 military crackdown in the western state of Rakhine, two prison officials, two former fellow inmates and one of the soldiers told Rooters.

The soldiers were freed in November last year, the two inmates said, meaning they served less than one year of their 10-year prison terms for the killings at Inn Din village.

They also served less jail time than two Rooters news hounds who uncovered the killings. The journalists, Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, spent more than 16 months behind bars on charges of obtaining state secrets. The two were released in an amnesty on May 6.

IS claims responsibility for a Bangladesh explosion

group has grabbed credit for an kaboom targeting a police van in Bangladesh's capital.

Police said Sunday night's kaboom in Dhaka's Malibagh area left three people injured, including a police officer, but they were not sure who was behind the blasts.

U.S.-based SITE Intelligence said in a Twitter post that IS was behind it.

Dhaka Police Commissioner Asaduzzman Mia said Monday that the bomb had been planted in the van. He said it was more powerful than an kaboom in April in Dhaka that was also claimed by IS.

Two of the injured were being treated in a hospital following Sunday's blast.

Watch Surfside Beach, SC, PD chase, bust accused motorcycle thieves
[ABC 15 News] Surfside Beach police say they caught two motorcycle thieves red-handed early Memorial Day.

An officer was on patrol Monday morning when he saw an unsecured motorcycle in the bed of a truck. The truck was leaving a residential area around 3:50.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the truck fled, police say, leading to a pursuit into an apartment complex off 5th Avenue North Extension, where one still-undetermined person jumped from the truck and fled on foot. The truck crashed a few minutes later in a ditch on Azalea Drive. At that point, police say Jamieson Tyrese Wright, 30, of Georgetown, and Justin Marquis Castle, 32, of Georgetown, both fled on foot.
Audio comes in at about the 1:00 minute mark.

German court orders fines for 'Shariah police' vigilantes
[DW] Members of a "Shariah police" vigilante group have been handed fines for donning illegal uniforms. The men had attempted to impose a "Shariah controlled zone" in the western German city of Wuppertal.

A German court found seven alleged members of a self-styled "Shariah police" guilty of violating rules on wearing uniforms after a retrial in the western city of Wuppertal.

The defendants, men aged between 27 and 37, face fines ranging from €300 to €1,800 ($335 to $2,015) for violating Germany's laws against wearing uniforms.
Golly.
Monday's acquittal comes at the end of a second trial for the group after Germany's Federal Court of Justice threw out their original 2016 acquittal.
Fines are marginally better than acquittal, I suppose, but it isn’t a high price to pay for connection to ISIS.
'SHARIAH-CONTROLLED ZONE'
The accused patrolled the streets of Wuppertal in September 2014 dressed in orange vests bearing the words "Shariah police." They handed out leaflets declaring the area a "Shariah-controlled zone," where alcohol, music and pornography were banned under Islam's Shariah law.

The men were accused of infringing uniform laws, but judges in the Wuppertal District Court acquitted them of the charges in November 2016 after they determined that they was not enough proof that they were breaking the law.

However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
the Federal Court of Justice, Germany's constitutional court, overturned the acquittal and ordered a retrial in January 2018, determining that the district court had not examined the impact of the vigilantes' actions on the public.

At the time of the "Shariah police" patrol, the men were led by Sven Lau,
...convert to Islam under the name Abu Adam and big turban in Germany for Jamwa*, for which he collected money, equipment, and the occasional fighter, all sent on to one of the nastier units of ISIS in Syria. Previously he’d emired local Salafist group Invitation to Paradise, which formally disbanded in 2011 to avoid being banned.
one of Germany's most renowned Salafi preachers. He was himself sentenced in 2017 to a 5 1/2 year prison sentence after being convicted of "supporting a terrorist organization" in a separate case.
...that terrorist org. being ISIS...
Last week, a German court ordered the release of Lau, who had been behind bars since 2015.

* Jamwa, or more formally Jaish al-Muhajireen wal-Ansar (JMA), which Deutsche Welle’s journalists fondly believe translates as Army of Emigrants and Helpers, is listed in Germany as a terrorist organization. The group, also linked to the Caucasus Emirate, is in Syria made up primarily of jihadis from the former Soviet Union. They originally pledged allegiance to Al Nusra, except those splitters who pledged to ISIS. Herr Lau belongs to the ISIS bunch. The Al Nusra lads now belong to the Free Syrian Army.

#1  This is justice. We humans, with our concepts of 'jurisprudence' and 'social contract' and 'Rawlsian Fairness' believe we know what justice is. We make a UN, an ICJ, set up a few tribunals, make a few old men say sorry to dead people and sign apology letters. We rest confident in that 'justice is done'. The universe has other ideas.

What the British Empire did to Asia, what Germany did to the Jews, poor Russians, the Poles - the audacity of people to assume superiority over the world. All is judged eventually. I believe we can worry all we want for these people, but in God's eyes they are still under indictment.

And this is what they reap. Also, it's not that this fate is suddenly thrust on them. They vote these Merkels and Mays and Trudeaus in themselves, with great fanfare. And invite the locust in.

Bangladesh
Man kills mother, father files murder case
[Dhaka Tribune] A man has reportedly killed his mother over a trivial issue of shopping allowance ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, at Tanore upazila.

The distraught father, Samjat Haji, filed a murder case against his son, Ekramul Haque, 28, for murdering Rahima Begum, 70, of Tanore upazila's Gaurangapur village on Monday.

Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge (investigations) of Tanore upazila's Mundumala Police Investigations Centre, said the murder stemmed from a case of shopping allowance, as Samjat's three sons wanted to go shopping for Eid Sunday afternoon.

When Rahima gave Tk3,000 to her youngest son Amirul, her elder sons Abdul and Ekramul demanded more money as they were older.

After the argument escalated, Ekramul, who had a wooden stick next to him, struck his mother behind her neck, after which she collapsed.

Their neighbours overheard the scuffle and entered the house, after which they rushed Rahima to Rajshahi Medical College, where the doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

OC Saiful also said the neighbours brought her body back to her house, but police took it back on Sunday evening for an appointment with Dr. Quincy.

Ekramul remains absconding, while the two other sons were released by the police soon after a short interrogation.

Afghan Forces Retake Control Of Ghazni’s District After Two Years
[ToloNews] The Afghan Defense and Security Forces retook the control of Deh Yak district, a rural district in the eastern part of the central Ghazni province, 30 kilometers in the east of Ghazni city.

The Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Monday that the district was under Taliban
...Arabic for students...
influence for two years.

The statement said that during the past two years, the Taliban were using civilians as a shield which prevented the advancement of the security forces.

Colonel Mubin, an army commander in Ghazni, said the operation started at around 6am local time on Monday, in which the snuffies were surrounded from three directions.

He said the district was under snuffies influence for more than a year.

"The enemy does not have the ability to fight against the Afghan defense and security forces. And meanwhile, the Alftha offensive of the enemy has failed," he added.

He said they have many plans on hand to maintain the security of the district.
Khaama Press adds:
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) in a statement said the Talibs were in control of Deh Yak district for the past two years and were consistently using civilians as shields to prevent the Afghan forces’ advance.

The statement further added that the Afghan forces will continue to their operations to storm the remaining hideouts of the enemies.

The Ministry of Defense says the remaining parts of the country where Death Eaters have presence will be cleared in the near future.

Ghazni is among the relatively volatile provinces in South-east of Afghanistan. Talibs are active in some of the restive districts of the province where they often attempt to carry out terrorist related activities against the government and security institutions.

In the meantime, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations to suppress the anti-government armed elements in the restive districts of Ghazni and other parts of the country.

Iraq
Frenchman handed down death penalty in Iraq for joining Islamic State
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ A French man was sentenced Monday to death by an Iraqi court after being found guilty of joining the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) krazed killer group.

The man was identified as 37-year-old Mustapha Merzoughi.

"The evidence and the confession show that you joined the Islamic State group, that you worked in its military branch," the judge told Merzoughi before handing down his sentence.

The verdict comes a day after three Frenchies were handed down a death penalty
for belonging to the krazed killer group.

La Belle France said on Monday it will take "the necessary steps" to try to prevent Iraq carrying out the death penalty against the French citizens.

"La Belle France is opposed in principle to the death penalty at all times and in all places," the French foreign ministry said.

The ministry said the detained men were receiving consular assistance to ensure they had legal representation ahead of an expected appeal, which they have 30 days to lodge. It added, however, that La Belle France "respects the illusory sovereignty of Iraq’s institutions".
Gotcha. Pro forma protests to mollify the differently principled back home.
Rudaw adds:
The French government has said it would not repatriate its citizens that have joined the ranks of the holy warrior group, and Gay Paree deemed local authorities responsible for carrying out judgments.

Another nine Frenchies were expected to be tried in Iraq for terrorism and their alleged support of ISIS.

An estimated 1,700 Frenchies are believed to have traveled to Iraq and Syria between 2014 and 2018 to join jihadist groups, according to French government figures. Some 300 are thought to have been killed in the conflict.
More from Al Ahram:
"I'm not guilty of crimes and killings. I'm guilty of going (to Syria)," Merzoughi, wearing a yellow prison uniform, told the judge. "I ask for forgiveness from the people of Iraq, Syria, La Belle France and the families of the victims."

Merzoughi told Sherlocks he had served in the French army from 2000 to 2010, including a tour in Afghanistan in 2009. In La Belle France, he lived in the southwestern city of Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
French jihadist Fodhil Tahar Aouidate also appeared before the court on Monday, but his trial was postponed until June 2 to allow for a medical examination after he alleged he had been beaten in jug. Aouidate, 32, made a first trip to Syria in 2013 and returned in 2014 to join IS, according to the French judiciary.

After 130 people were killed in IS's 2015 Gay Paree attacks, Aouidate appeared in a video saying it was his "great pleasure and joy to see these unbelievers suffer as we suffer here."
Even more from An Nahar:
In La Belle France, Merzoughi lived in the southwestern city of Toulouse, the hometown of jihadist brothers Fabien and Jean-Michel Clain who claimed the deadly 2015 attacks in Gay Paree and were killed fighting in Syria.

Passing through Belgium and then Morocco, the French citizen with Tunisian roots underwent "religious and military training in Aleppo", in northern Syria.

He allegedly told Sherlocks previously that he "pledged allegiance to a masked IS leader in djinn-infested Mosul", claiming that many senior jihadists worried about being "recognised or identified by imported muscle they feared were spies". But in court on Monday he said he never pledged allegiance to the jihadist group.

Leonard Lopez, one of three sentenced Sunday, is a 32-year-old Gay Pareeian convert to Islam long known to French authorities for his activity on the jihadist website Ansar al-Haqq in the 2000s.

Before the most recent verdicts, three French citizens had been convicted of joining IS in Iraq: Melina Boughedir, 27, Djamila Boutoutaou, 29, and Lahcene Gueboudj, 58. All three were sentenced to life, equivalent to 20 years in Iraq.
Breitbart has more about two of Sunday’s trio of clever lads as well:
Even before IS, 32-year-old Leonard Lopez was known to French authorities for his activity on Frenchie-loving jihadist website Ansar al-Haqq in the 2000s.

In July 2015, the native Gay Pareeian travelled with his wife and two children to IS-held djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
in northern Iraq before entering Syria, according to French Sherlocks.

Lopez, known as Abu Ibrahim al-Andalusi after joining IS, was sentenced in absentia in 2018 for his involvement in Ansar al-Haqq but is also wanted on other charges.

Kevin Gonot, 32, entered Syria through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
to join IS rival and former al-Qaeda branch al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front, according to a confession published by Iraq’s judiciary. He then pledged allegiance to IS, fighting under the name Abu Sufyan, before being tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
in Syria with his mother, wife, and half-brother Thomas Collange, 31. He said his father was killed in IS’s de facto Syrian capital, Raqa.

Africa Subsaharan
Boko Haram Killed 2,295 Teachers, Destroyed 1,500 Schools in Nigeria in Nine Years
[Beitbart] Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
has killed an estimated 2,295 teachers and displaced 19,000 people in northeastern Nigeria since it launched an insurgency in 2009 to establish an Islamic emirate, the African nation’s minister of education revealed this week.

The English translation for the name Boko Haram is "Western education is forbidden."

Since 2014 alone, Boko Haram has destroyed 1,500 schools, resulting in 1,280 casualties among teachers and students, the Nation reported on Friday.

Nigeria’s Legit.ng media outlet quotes Education Minister Mallam Adamu Adamu as saying:

The greatest challenge of the out-of-school, phenomenon in recent years has been the problem of insurgency. Since the inception of the insurgency in the North-East [part of Nigeria] education has been under constant and system attack resulting in the killing of both learners and teachers and the destruction of education facilities.

In total, in the last nine years, soon after Boko Haram launched its insurgency, the jihadis killed over 2,295 teachers and displaced 19,000 in just the northeastern states of Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa.

Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
West Africa Province (ISWAP), consider northeastern Nigeria, namely the Sambisa Forest that straddles several states, a safe haven for terrorist activity.

’This crisis has further devastated the education system as children, teachers, and schools are in the front line of the conflict," the minister acknowledged, according to Legit.ng.

Borno state is considered the birthplace of Boko Haram.

In 2016, Boko Haram split from ISWAP over leadership differences.

Marking a significant departure from Boko Haram’s ISWAP has cultivated support among local civilians, allowing the terrorist group to turn the neglected communities into a source of economic aid.

In May, the International Crisis Group (ICG), a nongovernmental organization (NGO) committed to preventing and resolving deadly conflicts, reported:

Three years after Boko Haram broke apart [in 2016], one faction, the Islamic State in West Africa Province, is forming a proto-state in northern Nigeria. The state should press its military offensive against the jihadists but also try undercutting their appeal by improving governance and public services.

Boko Haram’s pledge of allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIS) gave birth to ISWAP.

Some analysts believe the fall of the so-called ISIS territorial caliphate has pushed the jihads to leave the Middle East to Africa and Afghanistan where they can join local wings of the group.

French Police Arrest Three Over Lyon Bomb Blast
[EpochTimes] French police have arrested three people, including a 24-year-old computer science student of Algerian nationality, in connection with last week’s bomb blast in Lyon that injured 13 people, authorities said.

A police source said the three arrested were the student, who does not have a police record, a minor who studies at a high school in Lyon and is also of Algerian nationality, and a woman.

The Paris prosecutors’ office said that minor was a member of the main suspect’s family circle. No information was provided about the woman.
Typical jihadi cell, then. Is the woman a mother, a sister, or an aunt?
Security camera footage of the incident shows a partially masked suspect wheeling a bicycle to the scene, before leaving a bag outside a branch of a popular bakery chain.

DNA traces were found on the remains of the parcel,
Gotcha!
according to a source close to investigation.

Another source said the judicial police arrested the man on the street after having tailed him.
*Snicker* Obliviousness is him. Well done, French judicial police, and in jig time, too.
They decided not to arrest him at his apartment, the source said, for fear that there could still be some triacetone triperoxide or TATP, the powerful but unstable homemade explosive that was used in the attack.
Let us await further revelations of the many nefarious connections these dear little self-radicalized known wolves will turn out to have.
The Times of Israel had an earlier article, superseded by the above, which adds some interesting details:
French police arrest four people over a package bomb kaboom in the heart of the southeastern city of Lyon last week which injured 13 people, authorities say.

A police raid is under way in a building in the Oullins suburb just south of the city, a few hours after the arrest of the suspected bomber, a 24-year-old Algerian IT student.

The man’s parents were later incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
and taken in for questioning, as well as a second student of Algerian nationality who is a family relation, according the Gay Paree prosecutor’s office, which has jurisdiction over terrorism cases in La Belle France.
They must have released Papa, which makes the previously undescribed woman the miscreant’s Mom in whose bathtub he no doubt mixed up his Mother of Satan bomb, just like the magazines told him to do.

Regime 2-day bombardment kills 29 civilians in Idlib

Regime bombardment kills 12 civilians Sunday in northwest Syria

[Rudaw] Regime air strikes killed 12 civilians including four at a market on Sunday in a jihadist bastion in northwest Syria, a war monitor said.

A maiden of tender years was among those killed at the market in the town of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Eight other non-combatants were killed elsewhere by government fire in Idlib, a stronghold of Syria's former al-Qaeda affiliate Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Britannia-based monitor said.

Idlib is supposed to be protected from a massive government offensive by a September buffer zone deal, but the jihadist bastion has come under increasing bombardment by the regime and its Russian ally since late April.

Witness Hamdu Mustafa said he was out shopping when the air strike hit.

Everybody was "in the street selling and buying," he told AFP.

"The planes targeted civilians who were buying food for their children," he said.

Nearby, rescue workers known as the White Helmets directed a bulldozer to clear the debris.

Fighting has raged to the south of the bastion in recent days. On Sunday, regime forces took back control of the town of Kafr Nabuda in the north of Hama province, the Observatory and state news agency SANA said. HTS and allied rebels overran part of the town in recent days, after the regime first expelled them on May 8.

The Observatory says more than 230 civilians have been killed in the spike in violence since the end of April.

A total of 20 health facilities have been hit by the escalation -- 19 of which remain out of service, according to the UN.

Regime Bombardment Kills 17 Civilians Monday in Syria's Idlib

[AnNahar] At least 17 non-combatants were killed on Monday as Syria's regime intensified its bombardment of Idlib province, the last jihadist stronghold in the country's northwest, a monitor said.

Idlib and parts of the neighboring provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Latakia are under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham
, a jihadist group led by Syria's former al-Qaeda affiliate.

"Seventeen civilians, including five children, were killed on Monday in air strikes and missile attacks on Idlib province," said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Nine of them, including three children, died in the town of Ariha, he told AFP, adding that at least 47 people were maimed across the province.

The deaths come a day after regime air strikes killed 12 civilians in the same province, according to the Britannia-based Observatory.

The Observatory says more than 250 civilians have been killed in the spike in violence since the end of April.

Turkey equipped militant groups with advanced weapons in northwestern Syria
No!! I am absolutely shocked and appalled.
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
has equipped several murderous Moslem groups with advanced weapons to help them forestall the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) progress in the northwestern region of Syria, senior opposition officials and rebel sources told the Rooters News Agency on Saturday.

The Syrian Army launched a large-scale aerial and ground assault as it sought to gain control of the last big stretch of rebel-held territory in the northwest of the country last month.

Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
said the Death Eaters had breached an existing ceasefire, triggering a civilian exodus by bombarding Idlib and adjacent areas. It has been the biggest escalation since last summer between the Syrian military and Death Eaters in the Idlib province and a belt of territory around it.

In response to this military action, Ankara stepped up supplies in recent days after Turkey and Russia failed to reach an agreement to end the fighting in Idlib and Hama.

The two countries held a meeting last month, in which Ottoman Turkish President Erdogan, on his part, said Russia and Turkey can "change the destiny of the whole region" together.

Following that, the Russian Army Sunday declared that the Syrian Army had ceased its fire "unilaterally" in northwestern Syria, but Turkey denied this, claiming on its Defense Ministry’s website that Syrian government forces violated the ceasefire agreement reached with Russia for Idlib last September.

Overnight, a Ottoman Turkish military convoy arrived at a base in northern Hama near rebel-held Jabal al-Zawiya, where Russian and Syrian jets have been pounding for weeks, a rebel and a witness said.

The delivery of dozens of armored vehicles, Grad rocket launchers, and anti-tank guided missiles helped roll back some Syrian Army gains and retake the strategically located town of Kafr Naboudeh, one senior opposition figure said on Saturday.

Terror Networks
Why Iran's Cash Crunch isn't Disabling Hezbollah Yet.
The other reason why I don’t do drugs.
[TheFederalist] Hezbollah has diversified its income away from Iran in recent years. Now, sanctions and a cash crunch in its Iranian money supply might actually enbolden their evil activities.

Iran’s global battering ram, the U.S.-designated terrorist group Lebanese Hezbollah, has entered such dire financial straits that it can no longer supply free groceries to its employees and beseeches the people to fill donation boxes. So said The Washington Post in a May 18 story, which squared with a March 28 story in The New York Times. Both papers report tough times for the terror group as a result of President Donald Trump’s to-the-bone-marrow sanctions against the group’s primary patron, Iran, which has had to cut subsidies.

The cuts have forced Hezbollah fighter furloughs from Syria, staff layoffs at its Al-Manar Internet TV station, slashes in salaries and reimbursement expenses, and jihad donation boxes deployed all over Lebanon, the newspapers report.

These reports come at an auspicious time. Wittingly or not, the reports feed a narrative that Democratic presidential candidates and their supporters are using to paint the Trump administration as incompetent or mendacious in redeploying a carrier battle group in response to intelligence that Iran is preparing first strikes. The narrative says President Trump and his people are purposefully over-weighting the threat of Iran and Hezbollah as a pretext for another war quagmire like Iraq.

But the newspapers leave important information and context unaddressed. Even if it suffers the effects of bad cash flow, Hezbollah is not on the ropes. As Iran’s global tool of retribution and coercion, and battle-hardened from years of fighting in Syria, it remains a highly dangerous threat to the United States and its allies.

Left unsaid by both the Post and the Times is that Hezbollah achieved significant financial autonomy from Iran more than a decade ago. How? Starting in about 2006, it moved into Latin America and hit it very big in the international cocaine trafficking industry.

Since Obama left office the US has been able to disrupt their drug trade in the US

since the Venezuela economy collapsed there isn't much coming out of that either

Columbia has cracked down also but not sure about the other Latin American countries

also, the profit margin on drug trafficking is subject to speculation also; most figure it at about 10% of gross

IAF destroys Syrian missile launcher after missile fired at Israeli plane
[Jpost] The IAF destroyed a Syrian launcher that fired an anti-aircraft missile at an Israeli plane, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Monday night, stressing that Israel will not tolerate any aggression against it.

"A short time ago, the Syrian army tried to hit an Israeli plane, it did not succeed," Netanyahu said in a video statement. "The air force in response destroyed the launcher from which it [the missile] was fired. Our policy is clear: we will not tolerate any aggression against us, and we will respond to it with force and firmness."

The IDF front man said the Syrian missile did not hit the Israeli aircraft, which was conducting a routine flight over northern Israel, and fell within Syrian territory. The mission was completed as planned, the IDF said.

Arab media, meanwhile, reported on air strikes near Quneitra.

Syria’s SANA reported that "a military source confirmed that at 2110 hours the Israeli enemy targeted one of our military positions east of Khan Arnabeh in rural Quneitra."

The source explained that the aggression resulted in the "martyr’s death and wounding another fighter."

According to Syrian media, the strike took place near Khan Arnabeh, which is very close to the Golan border.

The attempt represents an escalation on the Syrian side. It is not the first time that Syria anti-aircraft missiles have targeted Israel, nor the first time they have been detected heading toward Israeli airspace.

But for Syria to target a routine patrol inside Israel is unusual. Syria is already embroiled in new air raids in Idlib against Syrian rebels and the US and Iran are involved in major tensions in the region.
Al Ahram adds:
Syria said Israel carried out a missile attack that caused casualties on Monday, in what Israel's army said was a retaliatory strike.

"An Israeli missile targeted Tel al-Shaar in Quneitra," the Syrian news agency said, adding a "military vehicle was targeted and there are maimed".

The Syrian province of Quneitra includes the Golan Heights, most of which is occupied and annexed by Israel.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor, said the Israeli missile was "reportedly fired from the occupied part of the Golan".

Its director, Rami Abdel Rahman, told AFP that three Syrian soldiers were maimed.

#10  The MMR vaccine is made with porcine gelatin and the unvaccinated children in Hasidic families.

That doesn’t matter — the principle laid down by the rabbis around the time of the Maccabees is that anything is not only permitted but required if necessary to save a life. (The issue at that time was whether or not soldiers could fight, which counts as doing work, if attacked on the Sabbath.) It is a mitzvah, which so often is translated as a good deed, but the Jewish meaning is that it is required behaviour, not optional. Thus it is required to vaccinate one’s children. Additionally, one is required to protect oneself and one’s children in the case of an epidemic, so by a second path of reasoning it is required to vaccinate one’s children. The exception is if the person will be at greater risk from the vaccine due to an impaired immune system.

As the rabbi at the ultra-orthodox Chassidic Chabad.org website writes in answer to exactly the question of unkosher vaccines:

Chabad.org Staff
April 5, 2019
in response to Andrea :
From the perspective of the Jewish laws of Kashrut, what matters is what is ingested orally, hence there is no issue of Kashrut with vaccinations.

Herd immunity only has to do with whether or not a disease can move through a community (herd). If vaccinated people don't get sick, then who cares whether or not something is getting passed around?

Iran tests scud missile from ‘secret’ underground facility
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Islamic Republic of Iran has tested their Qiam-1 missile in a ‘secret’ underground facility in an undisclosed location inside the Persian Gulf nation.
Ain't secret no mo.
The Qiam-1 was modeled after the North Korean Scud missile, Hwasong-6; it entered Iranian military service in 2010.

This move by the Iranian military comes just weeks after the U.S. administration accused Iran of preparing to launch an attack on the American forces in the Middle East.

Iran maintains that their missile program is merely defensive, despite contrasting accusations from the U.S. and Israel.

Subway rider lied about anti-gay attack, was actually aggressor: cops
“Set up another F-17 article, Joe. We’ll fill in the details later.”
[NYPOST] A Manhattan straphanger who claimed to have been attacked by two men yelling gay slurs was actually the one doing the attacking, according to police.

Cops say the 25-year-old, who has not been identified, set upon the two men at the Chambers St. station in Tribeca while on an uptown A train.

They had gotten into a verbal altercation before things got physical, the young man originally alleged.

Police interviewed multiple people, however, who witnessed the incident and said the straphanger was the aggressor. Video obtained by police allegedly shows him spitting at subway riders when the suspects-turned-victims step in and try to stop him.

Cops believe the man was drunk and that no gay slurs were ever made. He suffered a laceration to his head while being subdued, according to officials.

Police don’t plan to file any charges.
