Europe
EU is Now Deaf to Their Coming Defeat
[Gold Goats N'Guns] Yanis Varoufakis once described negotiating with the European Union like you’re singing the Swedish National Anthem. No matter what proposal you put in front of them, they acted like they didn’t understand and simply reiterated terms.

But, at least then they heard something. It may have been gibberish to them, but at least sound waves made it to their ears.

Today, these people are like overwhelmed autistic kids needing noise canceling headphones to blot out the unwanted stimuli. It may be therapeutic but it doesn’t solve the situation.

Now that Brexit is complete the EU has gone one step further, blocking out the very real strategic and tactical disadvantage they are in dealing with the United Kingdom in trade deal talks.

The arrogance and intractability of the EU when it comes to negotiations is supposed to be their biggest weapon. They project a strange combination of strength and indifference that can only come from people thoroughly insulated from personal accountability for their mistakes.

Lead negotiator, the revealed to be inept, Michel Barnier has laid out his negotiating stance using the same language that was thoroughly rejected by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in October, the so-called "level playing field" of "regulatory alignment" as the basis for any kind of trade deal.

Has Barnier learned nothing from his last failure? Does he really think he can cover his ears, curl up in the corner and hope this all goes away?

Because if he does then he’s catastrophically misread the state of the game board.

Moreover, he’s convinced the European Council and Parliament that the way to ultimately win is to keep doing the same things that just failed.

Since they just overwhelmingly approved Barnier’s strict negotiating demands to the U.K. further signaling that they have no idea of the hornet’s nest they’ve just whacked with a baseball bat, oblivious to the buzzing and warnings coming from the U.K.

#1  It's how they got to where they are today: by simply dictating terms and watching as the media did their work for them. They're used to it. It's a winning strategy. Why should they change?

#3  Having heard all my life about the French reputation for subtlety and nuance, I was surprised to learn that the only way to negotiate with a French businessman is to get in his face and scream "Give me what I want, you dumb [bleep] or I'll break your legs!" Anything more subtle is like trying to teach calculus to a pig.

Started dinking around and if I did my work, not only can this thing reach Libya, it could be loaded with anti-ship and cruise missiles.

International-UN-NGOs
The UN's anti-Israel blacklist will harm a lot of Palestinians
[NY Post] "Pro-Palestinian" anti-Semites at the United Nations are so determined to smear Israel that they're even willing to hurt Palestinians to do so.

That's the real takeaway from the blacklist Turtle Bay released on Wednesday of 112 companies that do business with Israeli settlements in the West Bank. These firms, the UN Human Rights Council says, have "raised particular human-rights concerns" ‐ simply because they provide services to these areas.

It's a bizarre rationale, but it's even nuttier since, as a Palestinian Media Watch report makes clear, Palestinians who work for these companies themselves may be hurt by the resulting boycotts.

And get this: Palestinians often prefer to work for Israeli companies, because they offer "better working conditions" than Palestinian ones, PMW notes: Wages are four times higher, and workers get the same health benefits, sick leave and vacation time as Israelis.

The anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement always ignores these inconvenient facts. Now, "if the UN's new BDS-flavored efforts lead to a larger boycott of these businesses, eventually they may have to let go of employees," including Palestinians, PMW observes.

Publishing the list could also hurt other non-Israelis, specifically the 18 international companies not based in Israel: Motorola, General Mills, Airbnb and others.

By the way, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights notes that the list has no legal status.

Indeed, it stands on no legal principle, either: The Human Rights Council, which ordered it, has never voiced complaints about firms in any other "occupied" area. Even the UN's own legal adviser in 2002 said firms in occupied Western Sahara prompted no human-rights issues.

Singling out Israel wasn't meant to help Palestinians or protect human rights ‐ it's just another bid to hurt the Jewish state. It's hard to think of a more apt word for that than anti-Semitism.

Bernie Sanders Frustrated With Having To Ask For Money Instead Of Just Taking It
[Babylon Bee] U.S.‐The campaign trail is reportedly taking a toll on Bernie Sanders. The main thing that seems to be wearing him out is the extremely foreign concept of having to convince people to voluntarily hand over money.

"This just feels so wrong," Sanders told staffers. "If you know you really have a good idea how to spend that money, you just take that money from people under threat of imprisonment. Having to convince people to voluntarily hand over money just feels too much like capitalism."

Initially, to get people to give him money, Sanders would just grab people by the collar and shake them, yelling, "Give me your money!" When this didn’t work, Sanders had to change his tactics to a kinder, more sensitive approach, asking for donations. "The incentive of money made me change my behavior from what I wanted to do to what other people want," Sanders said. "I feel so dirty!"

Reportedly, to calm down after a long day of having to convince people to voluntarily do things, Sanders likes to relax by playing with some stuffed animals he can control and make all the plans for.

Science & Technology
BBC update: Sex robots may cause psychological damage
[BBC] US researchers have warned that the availability of sex robots with artificial intelligence (AI) poses a growing psychological and moral threat to individuals and society.

They say the technology is escaping oversight because agencies are too embarrassed to investigate it.

The scientists want action to prevent the unregulated use of such robots.

Dr Christine Hendren of Duke University told BBC News that "the stakes were high".

"Some robots are programmed to protest, to create a rape scenario," she said.

"Some are designed to look like children. One developer of these in Japan is a self-confessed paedophile, who says that this device is a prophylactic against him ever hurting a real child.

"But does that normalise and give people a chance to practise these behaviours that should be treated by just stamping them out?"

Dr Hendren was speaking here at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Those men and women who like each other and like babies are already quietly producing the next generation while the protesters of both s3xes take their wonderful selves off the market with a variety of high tech replacements for their left hands.

Two of my nieces are happily married and have produced seven sons between them; my fosterling #2 (part-time daughter) and her husband just had their third daughter. The future belongs to those willing to create descendants.

Access to descendants is the leverage women have over men, and vice versa. Access to receptacles was only ever limited by the number of sheep and/or knotholes in the vicinity.

In Praising Cuban Socialism, Bernie Sanders Is No Democrat ‘Radical'–He's a Mainstream Democrat
[Townhall] "We’re losing our damn minds!.. (Bernie Sanders) has never been a Democrat. He's an ideologue." (James Carville, Feb. 7)

"The issue of this campaign. It is that word, socialism...Those of us like me, who grew up in the Cold War, and saw some aspects of it after visiting places like Vietnam, like I have, and seeing countries like Cuba, being there, I've seen what socialism is like and I don't like it. Okay. It's not only not free. It doesn't frickin' work." (MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Feb.8.)

Let’s give Sanders some credit. He’s holding up a mirror to his fellow Democrats and saying: take a look! Because in praising one of the bloodiest (per-capita) and most disastrous forms of socialism known to history, many mainstream Democrat standard-bearers are in prefect lockstep with Bernie Sanders. To wit:

"Everybody was totally convinced that Castro was the worst guy in the world and all of the Cuban people were going to rise up in rebellion against Fidel Castro. They forgot that he educated their kids, gave their kids health care, totally transformed the society." (Candidate for the Democrat presidential nomination Bernie Sanders)

But Democratic socialist Bernie Sanders has many, MANY Democrat precursors in this department. To wit:

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Did This NYT Piece Give the CIA Cover for Their Reported Refusal to Cooperate with the DOJ's Russia Probe?
BLUF:
Paul and Mary are reasonably certain all the ingredients are there.
[Townhall] Of course, the parties at the center of this story declined to comment, but the root of all this‐with regards to putting the IC under the microscope‐could be traced to the Times’ own reporting on the Crossfire Hurricane, the non-spying, spying operation that the FBI ran against the Trump campaign. Yes, the FBI had sources attempt to glean information from Trump officials without them knowing who they worked for and then relayed any said information to another party, but that’s not spying or something. One of the people at the center of this operation was George Papadopoulos, the Trump campaign official who was accosted by "Azra Turk," a woman who sent to run this intelligence exercise. Stefan Halper, another known CIA asset, was also another person tasked with gleaning information from Trump folks. Papadopoulos had zero problems with the Times’ report on this 2016 rendezvous, though he fled Turk was CIA, not FBI.

Rudy 'Can Prove' the Bidens and a 'Bunch of Democrats' Engaged in Ukraine Money-Laundering 'Scam'
[PJ] Rudy Giuliani says he "can prove" that the Biden family and a "bunch of Democrats" engaged in a money-laundering scheme and that the evidence is "with the right hands now." He wouldn't say who those people are, but it's possible it's the Department of Justice.
Early reporting now confirms elephants at watering hole.
Guiliani called the money-laundering operation a seven-year-long "big Democratic scam."

Waving his iPad full of "smoking gun" documents, the former U.S. attorney, New York mayor, and President Trump's personal attorney told Fox Business Network's "Trish Regan: Primetime" that there was a huge influx of cash, $7.5 billion, given to "an institution run by former Obama aides."

He quoted from Latvian documents given to Ukraine alleging that the junior Biden received $14.6 million, "laundered" through four banks and given to Hunter Biden "disguised as loans."

But today the San Francisco Chronicle reports a small group of disruptive students, somewhere between 5 and 20, have turned it into something reminiscent of the Lord of the Flies. And, at least so far, school authorities seem unable to do much about it:
One of the scariest incidents at Aptos this school year occurred in September, when two girls attacked a sixth-grade girl on the schoolyard. The girls pulled the sixth-grader to the ground by her hair, pulled a chunk of it out of her skull and kicked her in the face and the back of her head...

School administrators held a "restorative justice" meeting with the families of each girl. That’s the school district’s preferred way of resolving disputes, and it centers on mediation and acknowledging harm.

"There were no apologies," [the victim’s mother] said. "When asked specifically what they would do differently, the girl said, ’Well, I guess I wouldn’t have kicked her in the face.’... Those girls have approached her multiple times since then and said, ’You better keep your mouth shut, you little bitch.’"...

"It’s kind of ’Lord of the Flies’ around here," [the mother] said.

The schools previous principal and assistant principal left recently and the new principal seems to have a different view of school discipline. It has become normal for kids (ages 11 to 14) to wander through the halls, enter classes they are not in, and direct bad language at other students and teachers.

#3  This is the end goal of leftist politics. They value harm reduction above all, while conservatives consider harm reduction but have other values.

They are unable to think about anything but reducing harm to black kids. If they hurt other students, it is because white people made them do it. Punishing them is seen as unjust and wrong, and they will not do it.

They'll push all of America over the edge rather than compromise. They did it in so many other countries before, we're no different.

#6  Interesting. This school's on the edge of a middle- to upper-middle class neighborhood that has winding streets and elegant old single-family houses that cost millions. It's about 40% Asian ie Chinese, 16% white.

This is a case of complete incompetence, cowardice and failure by the school's leadership.

Typical: California public schools are among the worst in the nation. Unbelievably shitty, weak, corrupt leadership explains much of this; demographics explains the rest.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Belarus President Lukashenko delivers striking rebuke to Vladimir Putin
[Washington Examiner] Tensions between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin have been growing for more than a year. At contention is Belarus's demand that Russia restore preferable energy export prices, and Putin's pressure for Belarus to become part of Russia.

But Lukashenko just issued his most striking rebuke yet to Putin.

According to Belarusian state media, Lukashenko used a Friday factory visit to confirm that Putin is pushing hard for Belarus to become part of the Russian Federation. Only that course of action, Lukashenko says Putin told him at a meeting last week, can lead to Belarus receiving preferable energy export prices.

Yet the key point came when Lukashenko described his thoughts on Belarus becoming part of Russia. Referencing the factory workers assembled before him, the president noted: "You’re not anti-Russian people, but normal Belarusians, loving, respecting Russians. But put before you the question of whether you want such an association so that Belarus becomes part of Russia, 120% will say no."

Lukashenko continued, noting that even if his presidency ends, he will always "fight for our Belarus to remain sovereign and independent on this plot of land. This is not only for us; it is for our children. They still have to live in this country. The issue of independence is not only a good life."

The language here, of Lukashenko's personal "fight" for Belarus to remain a "sovereign and independent" nation, a "plot of land," is striking. It appeals to Belarusian nationalism by evoking images of a heroic struggle for soil that belongs only to the Belarusian people. It will thus infuriate Putin.

Still, it also shows us something else: Lukashenko isn't willing to yield to his more powerful neighbor. So in the context of Russian aggression toward its other neighbors, Ukraine and Georgia, what happens next will be rather important.

Bio on Lukashenko found here.

AG Barr Appoints Prosecutor to Audit Criminal Case Against Trump Former Adviser Michael Flynn
[Breitbart] U.S. Attorney General (AG) William Barr has installed a federal prosecutor to review the criminal case leveled against retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, President Donald Trump’s former national security adviser, the New York Times reported Friday.

Barr appointed a prosecutor from outside the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington to handle the Flynn case.

Citing people familiar with the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Times revealed:

Mr. Barr has also installed a handful of outside prosecutors to broadly review the handling of other politically sensitive national-security cases in the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington, the people said.

The team includes at least one prosecutor from the office of the United States attorney in St. Louis, Jeff Jensen, who is handling the Flynn matter, as well as prosecutors from the office of the deputy attorney general, Jeffrey A. Rosen.

Over the past two weeks, the outside prosecutors have begun grilling line prosecutors in the Washington office about various cases ‐ some public, some not ‐ including investigative steps, prosecutorial actions and why they took them, according to the people.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reportedly refused to comment on the Times’ findings.

According to the newspaper, "The review is highly unusual and could trigger more accusations of political interference by top Justice Department officials into the work of career prosecutors."

Barr’s decision to appoint a prosecutor to scrutinize the Flynn case seemingly comes after the DOJ inspector general (IG), on December 9, exposed a string of abuses by the FBI in obtaining Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) wiretaps on Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

The wiretaps were part of the Russia collusion hoax probe by special counsel Robert Mueller.

It is unclear whether the attempts to break into computer systems, including those of three Dutch universities, were successful.

The hackers were attempting to steal academic literature and course material to use in Iranian schools, the NOS said, citing PricewaterhouseCoopers' cyber security specialist Gerwin Naber.

Europe
Germany busts 'terrorist organization' that planned attacks on refugees
[Jpost] German police detained 12 men on Friday suspected of setting up a far-right organization with the goal of carrying out attacks against politicians, asylum seekers and Moslems, the Federal Prosecutor's Office (GBA) said.

Prosecutors said four of the suspects had set up a "terrorist organization" in September 2019 and regularly met and contacted each other by phone and in online chart forums and chat groups. They had no immediate plan to carry out an attack.

The other eight men were detained on suspicion of supporting the organization with money and weapons, the GBA said.

The suspects wanted their attacks to create havoc and an atmosphere of fear that resembles a civil war, it added.

"The goal of the organization was to shake and eventually destroy the democratic system and social cohesion of the federal republic," the GBA said. "For the purpose of creating an conditions that resemble a civil war, attacks that were not yet concrete against politicians, asylum seekers and members of the Moslem faith were planned."

The German government last year launched a crackdown on right-wing political violence in response to a rise in hate crimes.

New measures approved after the killing of a pro-immigration politician and a deadly attack on a synagogue and kebab shop in Halle by an anti-Semitic gunman include tougher rules on gun ownership and stricter monitoring of hate speech online.

The government has said around 90% of the 1,800 incidents recorded against Jews last year were committed by individuals espousing far-right views.
Even though the local Jews say many verbal and physical attacks are committed by Moslems, so the question is whether the authorities are not recording those incidents, or whether they are deliberately mis-categorizing the miscreants.
Germany's domestic intelligence agency estimates there are around 24,100 "right wing Death Eaters" in Germany, about half of whom are potentially violent.

#2  A lot of the “far right” is neither far nor right — the Netherland’s Geert Wilders, for instance, is a plain vanilla democratic socialist except for his insistence post-9/11 that the demands of Muslim culture are incompatible with the Western ethos, and therefore those who will not accept that Muslims must first live according to Western laws cannot be allowed to live there. And a good portion of the European “right” admire the muscular self-defense of Israel’s Jews, and would like to team up with their own Jews to do the same. The rest of the European “right” loathe the Jews and want them gone, but the exact same can be said of the European left.

tl;dr: Left and right are no longer useful categories, especially those accused of being far right. Look at what a given person/group really is working for.

"Far right" is a bogeyman, a marketing/fund-raising tactic, a trope seized upon by opportunistic partisans and grifters like the SPLC founder, the corrupt mass marketing wizard.

Today, the terms "left" and "right" are all but meaningless.

There are only OTOH entrepreneurs/hucksters/Shitshow-mongers who signal virtue, and OTOH a tiny holdout of people committed to rational analysis, fair-mindedness, and liberal -- old-fashioned, classical liberal -- belief in free minds and free speech.

#2  yes, skidmark - Australia's health system doesn't even have the capacity to deal with 100 coronavirus patients let alone more than 1000 in the event of an epidemic

Yes, it needs more nurses, more doctors and more beds - but the government isn't making any plans for any of this

there are no medical assistants being hurriedly trained, field hospitals being set up etc

they are throwing all their energy into saying 'we've got the best medical system in the world, we're a developed country, we've got the best plans, don't panic'

but not actually doing anything other than trying to prevent it coming here (which must fail)

If you collect some basic resources, you can survive a couple weeks quarantine at home, a power outage, or a forest fire, then worry about what the government does or does not do later.

This book is a good starting place, or go straight to the writer’s TedX talk to get a quick overview. (see here)

#5  Hello wonderful Trailing Wife, and lovely Skidmark

skids: the Aussie Govt strategy as best I can make out is to prevent a local epidemic

So far they've done this by banning non-citizens flying in if they've been in China in the last 14 days. That ban ends next week

You can see the problem with this:

$39 billion of university earnings depends on foreign students. They want to start term.

But the epidemic is out of control in China and won't be contained by next week

So unless they are planning to ban all travel for the next entire year, someone will come in with the virus

Also, there's the problem that people coming from other places can have the virus

Also that asymptomatic people can have and spread the virus

Also that it incubates sometimes for up to 24 days not just 14

And Also that doesn't cover Australia's hundreds of thousands of dual citizens from China who are not banned

So you can see that strategy is doomed already

They marry this up with testing people (only those with symptoms) and contact tracing

Fail and fail.

So then, the only strategy for if an epidemic breaks out (apart from shoot the messenger and avoid panic at all costs) is what was already in place

ie: what the nurses' federation outlined in the story

- cancelling non-essential surgery and redirecting staff
- hiring uni students / bringing staff from interstate
- setting up triage centres separate to the hospital
- sending people home for 'hospital in the home' (ie: go back and die in your beds so nobody photographs you all lying on the floors and corridors in the hospitals and making it look like the 3rd world system it is)

isopropyl alcohol for disinfecting

also I bought an oxygen concentrator off the family of a man who died of emphysema (he didn't need it anymore)

The big deal will be people needing oxygen but not getting it I figure.

that way I can use it myself then use it to help family at home if needed

#7  $39billion of university earnings depends on foreign students.

When oh when will this country's (and Australia's, and Canada's, and Britain's) realize that making ourselves dependent on Chinese revenue, Chinese customers, Chinese partners etc is POISON?

We have been signing our own death warrant.

End this madness. End our dependence on China, Chinese suppliers, Chinese customers, Chinese students and faculty, Chinese everything.

An utterly insane policy.

Posted by: Thaith Elmeresing6163 || 02/15/2020 22:43 Comments || Top||

#9  Lex: yes indeed. the universities are basically selling back-door citizenship

the Chinese and Indians aren't coming here for the quality of the education - but for the visa. They end up with graduate visa -> skills visa -> residency -> citizenship

that's what the unis are selling

citizenship for 3rd world elites via expensive tertiary degrees

the net effect is that uni places for Australian citizens are restricted to focus on more profitable high-paying foreign students

so eg: if you want to do medicine, you have to get 99.99/100 in your TER

hardly any Australian can be a doctor basically as very few can get over that bar

same goes for other high-demand degrees.

but as long as you are reasonably smart you can pay $100k/year and do it if you are a rich 3rd world elite who wants citizenship

it's replacing the middle class.

Finally, President Trump Moves to Gain Control of the White House Personnel System and His Administration
[Red State] - Earlier, I posted a story on a speech by former White House Chief of Staff and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly in which he revealed that he was basically opposed to President Trump and his agenda and yet took a job in his administration anyway, apparently seeing himself as some sort of fail-safe device.
DC bar offers drink specials every time Trump fires White House staffer
This is an example of a larger problem and an ongoing critique of the Trump administration which runs something like this: he hired the guy, he knew what he was getting. Or as the TDS sufferers like to say, ’he hires only the best people.’ (I really, really loathe those people.)

...Unlike a George Bush (either of them), Donald Trump arrived in Washington, D.C. with no connections to the DC policy establishment. In fact, he arrived after a bruising primary and general election that left him alienated from the GOP establishment. The GOP establishment might not have called his supporters "a basket of deplorables" but they nodded their heads and chuckled when they heard it. The same establishment had gotten rich and fat off illegal immigrant labor and outsourcing American jobs to wherever. They were used to keeping the GOP base in line with promises and crumbs (George W. Bush had GOP majorities for 6 of his 8 years, how much did they accomplish in regards to slowing illegal immigration or reducing abortion?) while delivering zero. When Trump arrived in Washington he was reliant upon the very same people who had opposed his election to staff his administration.

Some hard-core NeverTrumpers were hired in an attempt to placate factions in the GOP. Some cabinet secretaries, like, for instance, James Mattis and Rex Tillerson, pressed to retain Obama appointees or bring in registered Democrats with whom they had worked into senior policy positions. The head of the White House personnel office overseeing the hiring of political appointees went to an "end of the world party" when Trump dispatched Ted Cruz in Indiana. A guerrilla war was fought against the Administration by using the security clearance process to force out many of Trump’s most loyal followers.

Personnel, as they say, is policy. It makes no difference what Trump wishes to do if he doesn’t have the people in place to vigorously follow through and make sure things happen.

#3  The upshot of all this is that elections will not solve our problems because they will not be permitted to solve them.

Sure, we can vote (for now) and maybe we'll even get a few decent officeholders elected--- but when it comes to them actually accomplishing anything in office that the Overclass opposes, well, we've seen what happens.

The whole panoply of Deep State power will be activated to cripple, if not destroy them.

From the civil "service" to the courts, to the media and high tech, and even the careerists in the Fake Opposition Party (I see you, Jimmy DiStefano), all the machinery will operate to crush anyone who tries to execute the will of the voters.

I've resigned myself to the fact that nothing will truly change until a critical mass of normies also come to this conclusion and act accordingly.

Assuming that ever happens.

Is the DOJ the US Department of Injustice?
[American Thinker] - tweet regarding the absurd sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone, the DOJ says it is dropping charges against Andrew McCabe, the proven liar, leaker, and hoax conspirator who was part of the coup cabal at the FBI along with Comey, Strzok, Page, et al. It seems also that Lt. Col. Vindman will not be investigated by the military.

There is one form of justice for Democrats ‐ no charges ever ‐ and a harsh form for any Republican. Roger Stone is mostly a figure of fun, a wannabe player who exaggerated his proximity to actual players. He is guilty of virtually nothing that warrants nine years in prison, but because the prosecutors, all attached to the Mueller team, had to have something to show for the $32M spent on their Russia hoax, they want him sent away to die in jail.

Is letting McCabe off the hook for lying and leaking a ploy? Are there more serious charges coming? He sure doesn't think so. He's so self-absorbed that he is complaining about what his family has been through for two years! His family! He and his cohorts have ruined numerous lives with their baseless witch hunts; the families of all of them have endured far more hardship than the weasel McCabe. Some have lost everything. It is doubtful that McCabe and his team of traitors have ever given a thought to what they have put the president and his family through except perhaps with glee. This bunch that tried to take down a candidate, then a president they decided should not hold that office are arrogant beyond belief; they're smug, elitist white-collar criminals all, and it's beginning to seem as if they are all going to get away with their treasonous crimes.

REVEALED: Judge secretly savaged bid to prosecute former FBI chief Andy McCabe for lying to agents calling it 'like a banana republic'- then case was dropped hours before his fury was about to be made public
The Justice Department has told former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe it isn't prosecuting him and it considers the matter 'closed' – despite the president's string of furious tweets about McCabe and a judge's warning the a prolonged investigation had a whiff of retribution.

Federal prosecutors closed an investigation into whether McCabe lied to federal officials about his involvement in a news media disclosure, McCabe's legal team said Friday.

The end of the two-year probe of McCabe came just hours before it was revealed a federal judge scolded prosecutors and flagged President Trump's repeated tweets on the case as being like a 'banana republic.'

U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Barnett Walton made the comment as he heard a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit in relation to the case.

'The public is listening to what's going on, and I don't think people like the fact that you've got somebody at the top basically trying to dictate whether somebody should be prosecuted,' Walton, a George W. Bush appointee, told prosecutors in September.

Bingo. Our FISA Court is itself a feature of a banana republic.
This is nothing more than a classic Deep State redirect.

Not quite SS material -- the judge is playing the game with much more skill than Mueller, McCabe, Strzok et al. played it, and he's not going on cable and posturing a la Brennan -- but it's a redirect nonetheless.

#6  This judge truly exists in a bubble if he thinks his rant is in line with mid America thinking. McCabe is dirty, we all know it, the IG recommended firing for lying (lacking candor) and illegal leaking. Trump simply pointing out the obvious is hardly telling anyone how to handle the case. What the heck is going on with our "justice" system. It is a dangerous joke.

ICE deports MS-13 member wanted in El Salvador, according to DHS
[KENS5] Immigration officials deported a documented member of MS-13 to El Salvador Thursday more than a year after he was caught crossing the border in the Rio Grande Valley.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said 35-year-old Melvin Antonio Delgado is wanted by authorities in his home country for gang membership and illicit possession of drugs. He was removed aboard an ICE Air Operations charter flight without incident.

"The Delgado case shows how effective cooperation between U.S. and Salvadoran law enforcement authorities helps keep our communities safe from violent transnational gang members who try to find safe haven from their crimes in our country," said Daniel Bible, field office director for Enforcement and Removal Operations for ICE in San Antonio.

Immigration officials say they found Delgado near Hidalgo, Texas on Oct. 20, 2018 after he illegally crossed into the United States. He was convicted in a Texas federal court days later and sentenced to two days in prison. He was transferred to ICE custody on Oct. 27, 2018, and an immigration judge issued him a final order of removal a year later.

The Security Alliance for Fugitive Enforcement (SAFE) task force provided information that assisted in Delgado’s arrest.

French tourist randomly slashed in the neck in Harlem
Feral yoot or nutter? Place your bets, ladies and gents, place your bets!
[NYPOST] A French tourist was randomly slashed in the neck while strolling around Harlem with his girlfriend Friday, police said.

Shocking video obtained by The Post shows the young man kneeling on the ground holding a piece of cloth to his neck, a heavy pool of blood forming around him, as his distraught girlfriend stands next to him.

The couple was walking on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard between 132nd and 133rd streets in Upper Manhattan around 11 a.m. when a stranger suddenly jumped the 27-year-old victim and slashed him across the face and neck with a knife, cops said.

The man and his girlfriend had just walked out of the IHOP on 135th Street when the unprovoked attack happened, police sources said.

EMS rushed the victim to Harlem Hospital, he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police canvassed the neighborhood for a suspect dressed in black and wearing Air Jordan sneakers but had yet to find him.

A man who works in a nearby building saw the incident on surveillance tape and detailed what happened for The Post.

"A man and woman were walking down the street, and a guy was walking beside them, like side-by-side. Then [the attacker] turns towards [the victim], looked him in the eye and pulled out ‐ it looked like a box cutter ‐ and sliced him on the neck," the worker said.

"He didn’t know him," the building employee added of the victim. "He even looked at the guy before he cut him and made a surprised face."

China-Japan-Koreas
China produces and exports 97 percent of all antibiotics and 80 percent of the active ingredients used to make drugs here
[Breitbart] Perhaps the biggest concern is over medical supplies. China produces and exports a large amount of pharmaceuticals to the U.S., including 97 percent of all antibiotics and 80 percent of the active ingredients used to make drugs here. Penicillin, ibuprofen, and aspirin largely come from China. Last month, the medical supply firm Cardinal Health recalled 2.9 million surgical gowns "cross contaminated" at a plant in China; the blood pressure drug valsartan also saw shortages recently, thanks to tainted active ingredients at one Chinese plant. The combination of supply chain disruptions and increased demand at hospitals if coronavirus spreads to the U.S. could prove devastating.

In a dark irony, most of the world’s face masks‐now ubiquitous in China as a precaution‐are made in China and Taiwan, and even for those made elsewhere, some component parts are Chinese-sourced. Shortages have led China to declare the masks a "strategic resource," reserving them for medical workers. U.S. hospitals are "critically low" on respiratory masks, according to medical-supply middlemen. Lack of protective gear could increase vulnerability to the virus, and the one place on earth suffering from production shutdowns is the one place where most of the protective gear originates [emphasis added].

Iranian Minister Tried To Pass Off A $20 Halloween Costume As A Real Spacesuit
[TheDrive] The propensity of the Iranian regime to make often laughably hyperbolic claims about their military and technological achievements is nothing new, but some of the most absurd claims seem to routinely revolve around the country's ostensible ambitions to become a power in space. Earlier this week, Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology Tweeted out a picture purportedly of a spacesuit for future Iranian astronauts. Observers quickly determined that it was actually an altered Halloween costume that is readily available for purchase online.

Mohammad-Javad Azari Jahromi made the post on Twitter on Feb. 4, 2020. Jahromi previously worked in various managerial posts for Iran's Ministry of Intelligence between 2002 and 2009 before moving into telecommunications. The U.S. government sanctioned him in November 2019, claiming that he had been directly involved in censorship of the country's internet on behalf of the regime in Tehran. He is presently the youngest member of the cabinet of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani.

The Tweet itself is short. "Astronaut costume #bright_future" is all it says in Farsi.

Como Se Dice SHITSHOW? Buttfug fugs up VIRTU-signaling pander attempt, no habla de buen espanol...
[Breitbart] Former Mayor Pete Buttigieg tried to kick off a town hall event with Latino voters on Thursday night by showing off his Spanish skills, but he immediately stumbled.

In Spanish, he said, “Thanks for inviting us to speak…” before pausing and resorting back to English to conclude, “…this evening.”

Buttigieg stumbled over the Spanish pronunciation of invitarnos” (inviting) which sounded like “inventarnos” which means “inventing.”

He also appeared to forget how to say “this evening” in Spanish, resorting to English instead.

Many of the crowd in North Las Vegas, Nevada, laughed at Buttigieg, prompting him to blame his stumble on the lack of sleep on the campaign trail.

“Not quite sleeping enough but delighted to be with you,” he said.

Buttigieg appeared at the League of United Latin American Citizens Presidential Town Hall on Thursday to talk about his campaign.

China-Japan-Koreas
Coronavirus: Sickos spit on elevator buttons amid outbreak in China
[NYPost] This is just sick.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, which has so far killed over 1,100 people and infected about 45,000, some people in China have been caught on video bizarrely and disgustingly wiping their spit on elevator buttons.

In one viral video shot in the city of Datong on Friday, an old man can be seen standing at the entrance to an elevator, spitting into his hand and then rubbing it onto the buttons.

A resident reported to the building management that the buttons appeared to be soiled. When officials tracked down the man, they checked his temperature, which turned out to be normal.

The sicko apologized and said he was just joking, according to Rooters.

Since the coronavirus emerged in Wuhan, many elevators have been equipped with boxes of disposable tissues to allow passengers to avoid touching the buttons.

Another video making the rounds shows a man in Nanning spitting into a tissue and then rubbing it repeatedly on an elevator’s buttons.

Local police arrested the man, who apparently did not have any coronavirus symptoms, and detained him for 10 days.

And on Sunday, a woman was arrested after she was seen on video taking a tissue to press an elevator’s button in the city of Chongqing ‐ then putting it back into the box before spitting on the buttons repeatedly.

Police said the woman, named Li, had a dispute with some people and spat in the elevator to vent her anger, according to Newsflare. Her temperature was normal.

In another case, a woman in the epicenter city of Wuhan was caught on surveillance video sneaking out late at night during the quarantine and spitting on a doorknob in her apartment complex, according to the Taiwan News.

A person who discovered the footage reported it to security guards. Moments later, coppers clad in hazmat suits arrived and sanitized public areas in the building.

Authorities said the case is under investigation, adding that more than 30 of the building’s residents have tested positive for coronavirus and that more than 90 have fevers, the news outlet reported.

It was unclear if the woman ‐ whom many people described as "a demon walking on Earth" and "a sociopath trying to take Dire Revenge on her own country" ‐ also was infected by the virus.

#2  On one hand, no president has ever recognized the WPR.

On the other hand, we don't want or need a war with Iran. It would be a complete disaster for the American people and is in total opposition to our interests.

Posted by: Chris || 02/15/2020 10:29 Comments || Top||

#4  First of all, the US has a long history of false flags. Any intelligence community assessment is *extremely* suspect.

Second of all, considering how incredibly bad for the American people a war with Iran would be, even if Iran does something we should resist a war. It will be ruinously expensive, kill thousands of good Americans, ruin the lives of tens or hundreds of thousands more who depend on or love them, and entail another occupation of yet another country for dozens of years or decades. Or permanently. Who wants that?

Literally, who wants it? Nobody in America outside DC elites and their fellow travelers, that's for sure.

#6  Gee, Herb, last time I checked my history books, assaulting an embassy and taking the staff hostage was considered an act of war. I guess that was a American false flag op too? We've been at war since then, we just want to avoid doing the dirty which is why we are stuck with the mess we have today decades later for not recognizing the fact and acting upon it.

#7  What P2K said.

In point of fact Trump has been "resisting a war" -- but not resisting confronting and containing Iran. He is both the most effective and the least warlike of our post-Cold War presidents.

This WPR is nothing but virtue-signaling by a Uniparty whose gross foreign-policy incompetence in handling Iran (along with Mexico, China and Russia generally) has brought us to this pass.

I think maybe another regime change isn't the answer.

I also think you people get way, way, way too heavily into dick-waving and don't think about the consequences of a war. What's better: keeping thousands of good, solid Americans alive so that they can go home and live good lives? Or stroke our egos and let them all die?

Yes, yes, so you tell us obsessively, Mr. McCoy. It is not the killer point you so fondly believe.

You know that France sheltered Ayatollah Khomeini among others, and French leftwing intellectuals hailed the ayatollah’s little adventure? Foucault, Sartre, the French communist and socialist parties... they were all in. Go yell at them for a change. Read this remembrance of the time for a longer list

Or realize that you are complaining about the actions of an American president who came from the anti-war left wing of the Democratic party, whose multiple stupidities led to the election of Ronald Reagan as the antidote, just as Donald Trump was elected as the antidote to Barack Obama's multiple stupidities. And that your audience here voted against both idiots, and will vote en masse against whichever similar idiot the Democratic party throws up this time round.

Much of the third world believes the US is obliged to spend its inordinate amount of moolah on them, while they stab each other to get at it. Another trillion dollars ? It'll stay the same grey, brown wasteland full of death at every corner, ass-raped little boys growing into retards with RPGs, and hopeful 'educated moderates' trying to superimpose western style democracy on an Asian society.

Not just me, the entire integrated defence network would advise that if they were honest. It would be in India's selfish interest of course if you remained and wasted yourselves there, maintaining a presence on Pak's shoulder too. Pak would like nothing better than for you to leave, for reasons of their own of course.

"There should be a case under Article 6 against maulana for his statement regarding the ousting of the government," he said, during an informal conversation with journalists.

"The government will complete its term, it's not going anywhere," Prime Minister Imran added.

Earlier this week, Rehman said that he had ended his Azadi sit-in because he had been given assurances that Prime Minister Imran will step down and elections will be held in three months. The JUI-F had staged a 13-day (from Nov 1 to 13, 2019) sit-in on Kashmir

Six Cartel Kidnappers Busted with Mexican Border City Victim in Trunk
[BREITBART] Mexican soldiers arrested six cartel button men who were in the process of moving a kidnapping victim stuffed in the trunk of a car. The rescue comes almost a week after authorities captured a leading commander with the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas in the border city of Nuevo Laredo.

The rescue took place on Thursday morning in the Rio Bravo neighborhood south of Laredo, Texas.

According to information released by the Mexican Army, soldiers were patrolling when they spotted a suspicious vehicle containing the kidnapping victim. Details of the takedown were not released, however, the Army noted the arrests of six suspects and seized 27 makeshift road spikes. These items are commonly used to puncture the tires of pursuing police vehicles or cause traffic jams to cover escapes.

The rescue follows less than a week after the Mexican Army arrested a leading commander with the CDN-Los Zetas. Known as "El Takia," Pablo Cesar Guajardo Alvarez was in charge of CDN foot soldiers in Nuevo Laredo. He faces murder charges in connection with a deadly attack on five employees of the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office.

The Grand Turk
Renowned Turkish novelist acquitted in terror trial
[Rudaw] A Ottoman Turkish court on Friday acquitted renowned novelist Asli Erdogan on charges of membership of an armed terror organization, in a case which sparked international condemnation.

The court in Istanbul also acquitted Erdogan, who is living in exile in Germany, of disrupting the unity of the state, and dropped charges of spreading terror propaganda.

Erdogan, whose books have been translated into various different languages, was an occasional columnist for pro-Kurdish newspaper Ozgur Gundem which was shut down after the failed 2016 coup against Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
Ottoman Turkish authorities accused the paper ‐ where Asli worked as a literary adviser ‐ of being a mouthpiece for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), considered a terror group by Ankara and its Western allies.

The court also acquitted two other defendants, including linguist Necmiye Alpay.

The 52-year-old Erdogan ‐ who is not related to the Ottoman Turkish president ‐ was held in pre-trial detention for four months in 2016 but later released.

She did not attend Friday's hearing but in a statement read by her lawyer Erdal Dogan, Erdogan said her columns did not contain any violent element.

"Their political content is limited to human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
violations," she said, adding that the accusations based on her literary texts "trampled on the values of both law and literature".

After the travel ban against Erdogan was lifted in June 2017, she has largely lived in self-imposed exile in Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and is currently in Berlin.

Her lawyer said she was abroad because she was suffering health problems as a result of her 2016 detention, and for a writing scholarship.

"She is not seeking asylum, she is abroad for a temporary period of time," he told AFP.

"She will not come to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
today but of course she will return. Turkey is her homeland."
Al Ahram adds:
The court also acquitted Asli Erdogan's colleagues Bilge Aykut and Necmiye Alpay. The trial against other co-defendants, including human rights lawyer Eren Keskin, is to continue, after their lawyers requested additional time to prepare for their final defense.

Asli Erdogan_ who is not related to President Erdogan _ was arrested in August 2016 with other staff members of the Ozgur Gundem newspaper, which the government accused of links to outlawed Kurdish rebels. She spent four months in prison before being freed pending the outcome of the trial.

Asli Erdogan, 52, was facing a maximum sentence of nine years and four months in prison.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon’s ex-PM Hariri blames political rivals for crisis
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Leb’s ex-Prime Minister Saad Hariri
...Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too....
, in his first major address as an opposition figure after the formation of a new cabinet, charged his rivals with pushing the country to near-collapse and cast doubt on their ability to win foreign support.

The speech by Hariri, the country’s top Sunni Moslem politician, laid bare growing political divisions that could complicate Beirut’s push to enact painful reforms and recover from the worst economic crisis since its 1975-1990 war.

A cabinet formed last month by Iran-backed Hezbollah and its allies, the first since Hariri resigned in October in the face of protests, must contend with a severe liquidity crunch and fast-approaching debt payments, with a $1.2 billion Eurobond due on March 9.

The government clinched a parliamentary vote of confidence on Tuesday but several major parties, such as Hariri’s Future Movement, the Christian Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
and Kataeb parties, and the Druze Progressive Socialist Party, all withheld support.

Speaking on the 15th anniversary of the liquidation of his father, ex-premier Rafik Hariri, Saad Hariri lambasted his rivals, casting their obstruction of reforms as largely to blame for the depth of the current crisis.

"We organized the Cedar conference, and we got $11 billion dollars for the economy based on reforms we agreed to and promised to implement," said Hariri, referring to a 2018 Gay Paree donor conference. "But what can I do if someone does not keep to his word?"

Hariri, an ally of Western and Gulf Arab states at odds with Iran, threw his most scathing jabs at former Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil, the son-in-law of President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
, who he called a "shadow" president who had subverted his work and helped push the country to collapse.

Wuhan Coronavirus‐WUWT Update

[WUWT] The news here is not good. We have mostly very poor data; both Hubei incidence and mortality were now provably severely under reported. But we do have one piece of usable comparable information. 1300 mortalities and 5000 recoveries amongst those who tested positive from the false negative test kits used until yesterday (the majority of cases have not yet resolved one way of the other). In the end, when the disease has run its course, there are only two outcomes: recovery or death. On the test kit basis, the mortality could be as high as 26%. That is horrible but not impossible since MERS was almost 36%.

My own ‘hunch' is that Wuhan in the end will come in about 10% mortality; the mechanism is lower respiratory tract viral pneumonia just like 2003 SARS and the 1918 ‘Spanish flu'. There is no reason to think the mortality outcome would differ greatly from a very similar clinical mechanism.
Much more at link.

Government
Air Force to allow uniformed members to wear turbans, hijabs, beards in new dress code
[FoxNews] The United States Air Force updated its official dress code policy this month, in observance of religious practices, to allow military personnel to wear turbans or hijabs as a part of the uniform.
Suicide vest optional
The Air Force released an update to the "Dress and Personal Appearance of Air Force Personnel" code on Feb. 7, now permitting airmen to request a waiver to wear religious apparel while in uniform as long as they are "neat and conservative."
One would think that would rule out diapers on the head
The material used for headwear must resemble the color of the assigned uniform. This includes camouflage, and must be worn in a fashion that presents a "professional and well-groomed appearance."
Osama hold overs? Good luck sealing your M40.

#5  Sikh pilots often trim their hair and wear the short pagri , much like a bandana. They all have to trim the beards to a certain length because of the mask. Pilots wear the turban only with dress, not in the cockpit. Some, who are very religious will just wear their hair loose under the helmet and go into battle like hippie rockers.

#8  I'd like to also mention; the characteristic islamic 'mullet' beard demanded by sunnis is from classic wahhabi teaching. It's the addition of Taqī ad-Dīn Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah, the 13th century mullah who added the concept of slaughtering jews and christians as an imperative of 'the faithful'.

We in India have always known this, and men noticed sporting such beards in the military are mentally tagged by their superiors and forever kept from any responsibility which could lead to them getting their hands on a $ 12 million machine of death with weapons of mass destruction.

#11  ^ Very right. It was tamiyya, Hassan al Bana, and al Maududi that that bastard Sayyid Qutub channeled when he laid the foundation of parallel conquest by militarized brigades and lawfaring taqiya moderates.

His brother Mohammed Qutub, whom Ayman Zawahiri ardently followed based himself in Saudi Arabia and helped proselytize many of the arabs who were just getting rich. The star pupil of Zawahiri was Osama bin Laden.

People can say "That's a Mad magazine's 6 degrees of separation from an innocuous beard to another possible 9/11 !" But we think it's very credible.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
1 soldier, 4 Palestinians injured in West Bank protests
[IsraelTimes] Demonstrations across West Bank come amid soaring tensions following release of US peace plan last month.
All they have to do to get their own country and billions of dollars of American investments is demonstrate peaceful self rule, but they’d rather riot.
One Israeli soldier was lightly injured by a stone and four Paleostinians were hurt in a protest in the West Bank village of Budrus on Friday.

The soldier was treated at the scene northwest of Ramallah and then sent to a hospital, according to Hebrew media reports.

The condition of the Paleostinians was not immediately clear.

Protests were also reported in Ramallah, Nablus and near the southern West Bank city of Hebron. Troops fired tear gas at Paleostinians who threw rocks and set tires on fire.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah’s popularity seen waning as Lebanese protests continue
[Ynet] As new Beirut government’s biggest supporter, Iran-backed group is facing possibility of losing its legitimacy as resistance movement; according to one expert, with so much poverty, few in Leb mention ’resistance’ to Israel
Hezbies: "We'll beat and kill as many of these Lebs as we have to - until we're popular again!"
Anti-government protesters continued to take to the streets of Beirut last week, declaring their lack of confidence in new prime minister Hassan Diab and his cabinet.

Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe was wondering why the baseball kept getting bigger and bigger. Finally it hit him...
the new government’s biggest backer, the Iran-backed Hezbollah movement is seeing its popularity wane as it faces the possibility of losing its legitimacy as a resistance movement.

"The government failed before it even started," said Ali Amin, a Lebanese analyst and journalist who writes for the London-based al-Arab newspaper said.

He said that people were revolting against an entire political system but were given a new government with the same platform and same political powers.

"Hezbollah is a key party in forming this new government and is perhaps its primary backer, as [the government] could never have been formed without Hezbollah’s support for its leader and members," he said.

"The ongoing battle here is between the new government and the street, which rejects it and is expressing this through protests."

The protests have been taking place since mid-October when people rose up against a new tax on the use of internet-based communications programs like WhatsApp. The protests widened to express deep dissatisfaction with economic mismanagement, corruption, and sectarianism.

Under relentless pressure, Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri resigned on October 29. But since the beginning, demonstrators have vowed not to leave the streets until there is a government of experts rather than politicians who merely represent the country’s many ethnic and religious groups.

Raneem al-Ahmar, a Lebanese political activist who is a regular participant in the anti-government demonstrations, said that Hezbollah has lost popular support.

"We don’t trust Hezbollah, as it’s a partner of the current political game," Ahmar said. "They manipulated us."

Asad Bishara, who served as an adviser to former justice minister Ashraf Rifi, said that Diab’s government represents the same system that brought the country to collapse, adding that this is hurting Hezbollah.

"Hezbollah sponsors the majority of the new government. Its image as a resistance movement [against Israel and Western powers] has suffered," he said, adding, however, that the Shi’ite group also sponsored the previous cabinet.

"The formation of the new government is a sign of failure and further collapse," Bishara said.

"The ministerial platform is broad and doesn’t include a clear economic plan, a plan to stop corruption or work on Leb’s regional and international relations. It is the same old approach, just with a new government."

He said that the interests of the country’s diverse political forces conflict with the interests of Leb itself.

"Obviously, Hezbollah is working to thwart the revolution to protect a corrupt system," he said.

Charles Jabour, a journalist and head of media and communications for the Lebanese Forces
A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb...
, a Christian party and Hezbollah foe, said that such talk would change only if the new government managed to rescue the country from its deep foreign debt.

"It can hardly achieve this," he said. "It’s not supported by the Lebanese street.

"It faces political opposition in the country and has no support from Arab countries, which means no aid money. In addition, the international community won’t offer any help without a cohesive plan [for economic recovery]."

Regarding Hezbollah, a group that has long found support due to its resistance against Israel, Leb’s neighbor to the south, Jabour said that nobody talks much about resistance nowadays.

"People," he said, "are busy facing poverty."
