FBI Refuses To Say How Many Informants Were Involved In Jan. 6 Violence
{Federalist, via Rantingly] The FBI refused to answer questions about its possible provocative involvement with the Jan. 6 Capitol riots during a Tuesday hearing.
The FBI refused to answer questions about the agency’s possible provocative involvement with the Jan. 6 Capitol riots during a Tuesday hearing on Capitol Hill.

"How many FBI agents or confidential informants actively participated in the events of Jan. 6?" Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz asked the Executive Assistant Director for the FBI’s National Security Branch Jill Sanborn.

"I can’t go into the specifics of sources and methods," Sanborn said.

"Did any FBI agents or confidential informants actively participate in the events of Jan. 6, yes or no?" Cruz pressed.

"I can’t answer that," Sanborn said, despite The New York Times revealing in September the presence of federal agents within the crowd that stormed the Capitol. Earlier this month, Newsweek revealed in a blockbuster story the presence of secret commandos with "shoot-to-kill" authority.

"Did any FBI agents or confidential informants commit crimes of violence on Jan. 6?" Cruz followed up.

"I can’t answer that," Sanborn repeated.

"Did any FBI agents or FBI informants actively encourage and incite crimes of violence on Jan. 6?" Cruz asked.

"I can’t answer that," Sanborn said for a third time.

Cruz went on to ask the agency executive about Ray Epps, a suspect captured on tape encouraging people to enter the Capitol who disappeared without explanation from the FBI’s Capitol Violence Most Wanted List last summer, according to an October report from Revolver.

"Who is Ray Epps?" Cruz asked.

Sanborn said she was "aware of the individual" but lacked "specific background."

"Well, there are a lot of people who are understandably very concerned about Mr. Epps," Cruz said, highlighting Epps’s encouragement of Trump supporters to "get into the Capitol." "This was strange behavior, so strange that the crowd began chanting ’Fed, fed, fed, fed, fed.’ ... Ms. Sanborn, was Ray Epps a fed?"

"I can’t answer that question," Sanborn said.

After outlining Epps’s mysterious disappearance from the agency’s Most Wanted List, Cruz asked one more time.

"Did federal agents or those in service of federal agents actively encourage violent criminal conduct on Jan. 6?" Cruz asked.

"Not to my knowledge," Sanborn said.

Moments later, Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton pressed Assistant Attorney General for National Security Matthew Olsen about Epps’s mysterious disappearance.

"He was on the FBI’s Capitol Riot Most Wanted page just days after Jan. 6. In fact, he was one of the first 16 suspects added to that Most Wanted page on your website," Cotton said. "It does not appear he was arrested or charged with any offense. In July, without explanation, he was removed from the FBI’s Most Wanted page. Mr. Olsen, who is Ray Epps and why was he removed?"

Olsen referred Cotton to Sanborn after she repeatedly refused to offer details on the same case.

"Senator, I don’t have any information about that individual. I would defer you to Ms. Sanborn," Olsen said.

"You’re the assistant attorney general for national security. You run the National Security Division. The department has said that these Jan. 6 prosecutions are one of their highest priorities," Cotton said. "This is a man who was on the Most Wanted page for six months. Do you really, do you really expect us to believe that you’ve never heard of the name Ray Epps? You don’t know anything about him?"

"I simply don’t have any information at all about that individual," Olsen said.

"What other suspects on the Most Wanted page do you know nothing about?" Cotton asked.

Olsen didn’t offer an answer before Cotton pressed again.

"Can you name anyone else on the Department of Justice’s Most Wanted page?" Cotton asked.

"I’m not familiar with the Most Wanted page," Olsen said.

In the same hearing, Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee asked the panel about the agency’s double-standard treatment of left-wing rioters in 2020 versus the Jan. 6 defendants who are being held as political prisoners in solitary confinement.

"How many individuals who may have committed crimes associated with the riots in the spring and summer of 2020 were either arrested by law enforcement [with] pre-dawn raids with SWAT teams or had search warrants served on them through those means?" Lee asked.

Sanborn said she didn’t have "the particular numbers" available to answer the question.

"Could you tell me at least an approximate number or whether it’s a comparable number to those who had those executed or arrested in connection with the spring and summer riots of 2020?" Lee asked.

Sanborn said again she did not have the data with her at the hearing.

"You have any way of telling me how many of these individuals who were arrested in connection with the spring and summer riots of 2020 were placed in solitary confinement?" Lee asked.

"I don’t have that," Sanborn said. "I’m not exactly sure that the FBI would house that data."

#2  Sen Cruz forgot to ask the "You say 'I can't say'; doesn't that mean you could say but you won't say"

So Sanborn could then respond, "I can't say"

#12  This all felt like someone pleading the 5th. Once you please the 5th to one question you pretty much have to plead the 5th to all and lawyers have a different view of this. Civilians think guilty! Lawyers think of it just as a tactic. Politicians are lawyers so the only thing they may do is use the seeming admission to bash the other side.

No. That's not true. A lot of people were there were expecting, and looking for, a fight with antifa. Antifa was there, just not fighting Trump supporters (they fought the CapPol). The Capitol Hill Protest was largely organic. Most protesters expected to have the shit kicked out of them by Cap Police. I suspect a lot of the first people inside the capitol were antifa and FBI followed by a lot of pissed off Trump supporters. Antifa and FBI blended in with the protesters.

Science & Technology
3 ways the pandemic has made the world better
[The Atlantic] Synthetic mRNA, the ingenious technology behind the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, might seem like a sudden breakthrough, or a new discovery. One year ago, almost nobody in the world knew what an mRNA vaccine was, for the good reason that no country in the world had ever approved one. Months later, the same technology powered the two fastest vaccine trials in the history of science.

Like so many breakthroughs, this apparent overnight success was many decades in the making. More than 40 years had passed between the 1970s, when a Hungarian scientist pioneered early mRNA research, and the day the first authorized mRNA vaccine was administered in the United States, on December 14, 2020. In the interim, the idea’s long road to viability nearly destroyed several careers and almost bankrupted several companies.

The dream of mRNA persevered in part because its core principle was tantalizingly simple, even beautiful: The world’s most powerful drug factory might be inside all of us.

T Cells From Common Colds Cross-Protect Against Infection With COVID-19: Study
[ET] A type of cells produced by the body when fighting common cold viruses cross-protect people against infection with the virus that causes COVID-19, according to a study published Monday.

T cells have been recognized as a measure of protection against severe COVID-19 and previous research indicated that recovery from common colds may provide some level of shielding against the virus that causes COVID-19.

Researchers with Imperial College London found in the new study that the presence of such cells can also prevent infection by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, also known as SARS-CoV-2, which causes the disease.

The scientists assessed 52 contacts of newly diagnosed COVID-19 cases to pinpoint when they were first exposed and determined that people who tested negative for COVID-19 had higher cross-reactive T cell levels. They also took blood samples from the participants within 6 days of exposure.

"Being exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus doesn’t always result in infection, and we’ve been keen to understand why. We found that high levels of pre-existing T cells, created by the body when infected with other human coronaviruses like the common cold, can protect against COVID-19 infection," Dr. Rhia Kundu, the lead author, of Imperial’s National Heart & Lung Institute, said in a statement.

Professor Ajit Lalvani, another author, said the study "provides the clearest evidence to date that T cells induced by common cold coronaviruses play a protective role against SARS-CoV-2 infection," adding that "these T cells provide protection by attacking proteins within the virus, rather than the spike protein on its surface."

The discovery could help scientists develop a new version of the COVID-19 vaccine, the researchers said.

T Cells: A type of white blood cell. T cells are part of the immune system and develop from stem cells in the bone marrow. They help protect the body from infection and may help fight cancer. Also called T lymphocyte and thymocyte.

Longtime CNN producer John Griffin slapped with $15M civil suit amid federal child trafficking case
[FOX] John Griffin, the longtime CNN producer fired last month over child trafficking allegations, has been named in a Connecticut civil lawsuit alleging "despicable acts" of "horrific sexual abuse" and exploitation.

"For several years prior to 2020, the defendant solicited young girls, including the minor plaintiff, for the purpose of knowingly persuading, inducing, enticing and coercing them to engage in sexual activity, sexual exploitation, and/or sexual trafficking," the lawsuit, filed last week in Bridgeport, alleges.

Criminally, Griffin faces one trafficking charge along with two counts of attempted trafficking in federal court in Vermont after allegedly soliciting parents with underage children.

Government Corruption
Gov't Docs Prove Fauci Lied to Rand Paul; US Was Funding Gain of Function Research in Wuhan
[Red State] We at RedState have long said that when Dr. Anthony Fauci testified to Sen. Rand Paul about the US government’s supposed non-involvement in gain of function research in Wuhan (and funding thereof) that he lied, and now documents from the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency (DARPA) bear that out.

Project Veritas released documents Monday night "regarding the origins of COVID-19, gain of function research, vaccines, potential treatments which have been suppressed, and the government’s effort to conceal all of this."

One of the documents Project Veritas obtained was a report to the Inspector General of the Department of Defense written by U.S. Marine Corp Major Joseph Murphy, a former DARPA Fellow.
The report states that EcoHealth Alliance approached DARPA in March 2018, seeking funding to conduct gain of function research of bat borne coronaviruses. The proposal, named Project Defuse, was rejected by DARPA over safety concerns and the notion that it violates the basis gain of function research moratorium.

According to the documents, NIAID, under the direction of Dr. Fauci, went ahead with the research in Wuhan, China and at several sites across the U.S.

Dr. Fauci has repeatedly maintained, under oath, that the NIH and NAIAD have not been involved in gain of function research with the EcoHealth Alliance program. But according to the documents obtained by Project Veritas which outline why EcoHealth Alliance’s proposal was rejected, DARPA certainly classified the research as gain of function.

"The proposal does not mention or assess potential risks of Gain of Function (GoF) research," a direct quote from the DARPA rejection letter.

Major Murphy’s report goes on to detail great concern over the COVID-19 gain of function program, the concealment of documents, the suppression of potential curatives, like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, and the mRNA vaccines.

Murphy would not comment on the report’s contents when reached by Project Veritas, but issued a brief statement:
I offer no comment on the investigation or internal Marine Corps deliberations. I offer a brief comment to those that desire answers and to those that withhold them.

To those seeking answers, I offer encouragement. There are good people striving for the truth working together in and out of government, and they succeed.

To those that withhold, I pray for you. Find the moral courage to come forward. Don’t let a lie be our legacy to posterity. People will forgive. A commitment to truth is in the heart of this nation.

Semper Fi.
Ending the video, O’Keefe asked, "Who at DARPA made the decision to bury the original report? They could have raised red flags to the Pentagon, the White House, or Congress, which may have prevented this entire pandemic that has led to the deaths of 5.4 million people worldwide and caused much pain and suffering to many millions more."

#14  If there is more to this story, someone please tell me.

There was an election coming in which Democrats anticipated getting clobbered and Donald Trump getting four more years in the White House. This was unacceptable to Deep State types in DARPA and elsewhere. But then the pandemic that resulted from Fauxi's gain of function research gave Democrats an excuse to implement a mail in balloting for the election which was highly suspect. Democrat Biden was then able to defeat Trump and win the White House. Are these facts related in any way? Would you put it past them?

IDF shoots Palestinian suspect in the leg during West Bank arrest
[IsraelTimes] Israeli soldiers shoot a Paleostinian in the leg as they conduct arrests at Bir Zeit University near Ramallah in the West Bank, the military says.

According to the Israeli military, soldiers were conducting routine arrest operations in the area. A suspect sought to flee the scene, and the Israeli troops opened fire toward him. The army says the detained Paleostinian was hit in the leg with live fire.

"During the arrest, the wanted individual tried to escape and in response, the force initiated an arrest procedure that included firing at the wanted person," the army says.

Paleostinian media reports that five students were arrested during the operation. An Israeli military spokesperson says they have only received reports of one arrest.

According to Paleostinian media, the maimed Paleostinian is Isma’il al-Barghouti, a student who leads the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,-affiliated Islamic Faction at Bir Zeit.

Palestinian Authority summons Dutch envoy over NGO aid cutoff
[IsraelTimes] The Paleostinian Authority summons the Dutch representative in order to object to the Netherlands’ decision to halt funding to a Paleostinian civil society group that Israel controversially outlawed as a terrorist organization.
"Give us our damn money!"
In a statement, the PA decries the "unjust and biased" decision to cut off funding to the Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), one of six groups that Israel outlawed in October over alleged organizational ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine (PFLP) terror group.

The Paleostinian Authority, which administers parts of the West Bank and coordinates security with Israel, claims that the UAWC provides vital aid to Paleostinian farmers struggling to remain on their land in the face of Israeli settlement expansion.

The Dutch government based its decision on an independent audit of the UAWC that found no evidence the organization was involved in terrorism. It said the audit did, however, find a "worrisome" number of UAWC board members were linked to the PFLP. Two former UAWC employees were arrested in connection with a bombing that killed an Israeli teenager in the West Bank in 2019.

The UAWC has rejected the findings, saying it does not concern itself with the private political activities of its board members or employees. The PFLP has a political party as well as charities and an armed wing. Israel and Western countries consider the PFLP a terrorist organization because of attacks going back decades that have killed civilians.

Israel says the six groups are fronts for the PFLP but is said to have provided little evidence to substantiate the allegations. The terror designation paves the way for the Israeli military to shut down the groups and arrest their members, but it has yet to do so.

The groups deny the Israeli allegations, which they say are aimed at stifling civil society and pressuring Western donors to cut off funding.

Eyeing Iran, Bennett says military undergoing largest rearmament in years, and more
[IsraelTimes] Prime minister tells Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee that Tehran remains country’s most significant foe, Israel fighting Iranian forces constantly

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told the Knesset on Monday that the country’s military and other security services were undergoing their largest rearming in years.

Bennett’s comments came as the IDF was working intensively to prepare for a potential military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, amid growing concerns that ongoing talks between the world powers and Tehran in Vienna about curbing the latter’s nuclear program may result in an agreement that Israel deems unacceptable, or in no agreement whatsoever.

"We are investing in security rearmament of the IDF and the entire defense establishment. I would say this was rearmament that we haven’t seen for years. This rearmament is important to our survival, and I am very glad about it and am determined to see it through quickly," Bennett said, speaking to the parliament’s powerful Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

Bennett’s government increased the 2022 defense budget to nearly NIS 60 billion ($19.2 billion), a large chunk of which was to be earmarked for planning on military engagement with Iran, including billions to upgrade or procure vehicles, ordnance and more.

In a criticism of his predecessor Benjamin Netanyahu, Bennett claimed the military had been in a "tailspin" for years, which "severely damaged Israeli national security, in every dimension." Bennett was defense minister under Netanyahu in 2019 and 2020.

Bennett reiterated that Israel will not be party to a nuclear deal with Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
and will do whatever it deems necessary to ensure the country’s security.

"In terms of the Vienna talks, the nuclear talks — we are indeed concerned. It is important for me to say and to clarify here in a way that can’t be misunderstood: Israel is not part of the agreements, Israel is not bound by what is written in the agreements if they are signed, and Israel will continue to ensure its full freedom of operation in any place and at any time, with no limitations," Bennett said.

The rest of the premier’s remarks were delivered behind closed doors.

This was Bennett’s first appearance as prime minister before the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, a parliamentary body meant to oversee the military, foreign policy and related issues.

In his remarks at the start of the meeting, Bennett told the committee that Iran was "at the top of our list of challenges."

"Iran is the head of the octopus that sends enemies and proxies and its tentacles at us, on all of our borders. We are dealing — day and light — with Iran and its proxies. We are making a change, moving to a mindset of constant attack and not just constant defense," he said.

Israel has been engaged in a long-simmering shadow war with Iran for years, mostly through regular Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on Iranian-linked targets in Syria and en route to Syria, as well as occasional attacks — both physical ones and cyber attacks — on Iranian nuclear facilities, according to foreign reports.

Israel has opposed a return to the 2015 deal, instead pushing for negotiators to revamp the accord with stricter restraints on Iran and to address malign activity in the region beyond the nuclear portfolio. Officials have threatened that Israel could take military action to keep Iran from getting a nuclear weapon, even without the support of other nations.

PM said to expect escalation with Lebanon or Gaza, not seek Palestinian peace talks

[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Naftali Bennett reportedly told the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee this morning that Israel could have to face a military confrontation soon with Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...a strong argument in favor of European colonialism, even French colonialism...
or Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, alongside plans to thwart Iran’s nuclear program.

According to the Ynet news site, during the part of today’s discussion that was closed to the media, Bennett also referred to Defense Minister Benny Gantz’s recent meetings with Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....
The report says Bennett clarified that he isn’t planning to advance peace talks with the Paleostinians at this time, adding that Israel’s interest is to keep the stability in the West Bank and the Gaza strip.

He also reportedly said his government wants to prevent the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, terror group from arming and to return two civilians and two bodies of IDF soldiers believed to be held in Gaza.

Arabia
Yemeni pro-govt forces say they have retaken Shabwa from Houthis
[JPost] I have no idea where that is, either
I looked it up. ;-) It’s at the south end of the Hadramaut region, according to this map. In the old days, Shabwa province was the south end of republican/tribal/religious North Yemen, while next door Marib was in the center of secular, Communist South Yemen.
Yemeni forces say they have taken full control of the energy-rich Shabwa province from the Houthis following ten days of fighting.

Yemeni forces fighting the Houthi group said on Monday they had taken full control of energy-rich Shabwa province from the Houthis in a battle for control of Shabwa and neighbouring Marib which has become a focus of the seven-year conflict.

Yemen's Giants Brigade, a group backed by the United Arab Emirates and also part of a Saudi-led coalition fighting the Iran-aligned Houthis, said full control of the province had been achieved after 10 days of fighting.

Fighting has intensified since the start of the year, after the coalition sent reinforcements to Shabwa, where Houthi inroads in September had cut off access to the Saudi-backed government's last northern stronghold in Marib.

Marib, in central Yemen, has been the focus of the war for over a year, with the battle for control stymieing United Nations-led peace efforts. The government holds the province's main city and nearby oil and gas infrastructure.

Marib city is home to 3 million people, including nearly 1 million who fled other parts of Yemen after the Houthis ousted the government from the capital, Sanaa, in late 2014, prompting the coalition to intervene months later.

CDC Director Walensky Admits 75% of covid fatalities have 4+ comorbitities
[PostMillennial] Speaking to Good Morning America, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky confirmed that "the overwhelming number of deaths, over 75 percent, occurred in people who had at least four comorbidities, so these are people who were unwell to begin with."...
Are we then to assume that much can be learned from a terminal test population ?
Walensky spoke to Fox News' Bret Baier, saying "In some hospitals that we've talked to, up to 40 percent of the patients who are coming in with COVID are coming in not because they're sick with COVID but because they're coming in with something else and have had COVID or the omicron variant detected."

Interesting that Brandon pushed back SOTU to March 1. He's not gonna pass any significant legislation for them; Manchin will see to that.

The only explanation must be that he along with everyone now can see that Omicron will rip through the population, burn out and be for the most part finished before March 1. That will be his announcement that the Shitshow is over .... "Mission accomplished!"

This COVID lawyer (exemptions, mainly) living in Florida has an interesting take: "Are we witnessing the end days of the political pandemic?"

#3  More from this lawyer - response to the ridiculous fLying Walensky somersault this am that confirms what we always knew: they're overstating actual COVID fatalities by a factor of at least 4.

Back in the early summer of 2020, a group of us used public records requests to get ahold of the medical examiners’ notes for the first 40 or so reported Covid deaths in Florida. Shortly after that, the state changed the way they organized the death paperwork so that it became impenetrable to public records. So we never got any more.

I spent months, throughout the summer, going case by case, explaining in C&C just
how sick almost every single Covid fatality was — how sick they were BEFORE they got Covid.

My favorite example was the roofer who, according to the ME’s notes, was struck by lightning, tell three stories, crushed his vertebrae, cracked his skull, and was taken to the hospital where he died in a coma, never having woken up. But FOR SOME REASON the hospital stopped trying to save his life just long enough to swab him for Covid, thank goodness, and he was included in the first 40 reported Covid deaths in Florida.

But while there were a few — a very few — healthy deaths in the mix,
the most common profile was a very elderly person with THREE or more of: chronic heart disease, Alzheimer’s, high blood pressure/hypertension, diabetes, and physical injuries from recent falls.

#5  They vastly overcounted deaths-from-COVID. By a factor of at least 4, maybe 5 or more.

So fvcking obvious. We all knew this from Day One... any pathologist could have told them -- in fact several did, before they were suppressed / canceled.

The only question left is: Who will pay?

Who will be punished for these monstrous errors, disgusting lies and gross incompetence?

"No resistance in the world has persisted without people’s support," Dergham went on to say.

#2  Somehow there's a bit more to this story than being reported.

How did Ms. Ricks know that Mr. Walker was trying to get to his house?

(Subsequent reading tells me that Ms. Ricks is a trauma nurse and attended to the fallen man. Maybe he did tell her that before the EMTs arrived, but in watching 'Cops', almost all the miscreants caught while fleeing say the same thing.)

Hash told police: '[Walker] ran across the street, so I stopped. He jumped on my car and started screaming. He broke off my windshield wiper and started beating the glass.'

His attorney said he would argue self-defense in the case the shooting came to trial.

Police Chief Hawkins said investigators noted that a windshield wiper was torn off the truck and used to break the windshield in several places.

Iraq
Reinforcements deployed at the borders of Diyala and Saladin
[SHAFAQ] The Iraqi military has deployed reinforcements in the outskirts of al-Azim sub-district near the borders separating the governorates of Diyala and Saladin, the administrator of al-Azim, Abdul-Jabbar Ahmed al-Obaidi, said on Monday.

Al-Obaidi told Shafaq News Agency, "a force from the army's first division (second brigade-second regiment) reinforced its units and intensified its patrols near the village of Abu Bakr, adjacent to Saladin, to halt an infiltration or night attack attempts."

"Nidaa Diyala (Call of Diyala) and al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces-PMF) were redeployed in al-Azim alongside the army forces," he added.

The local official said that ISIS groups are not likely to overcome the defenses between al-Azim and Saladin borders.

"All the attacks do not amount to security breaches or live up to the aspirations of the terrorist organization. Their tactics are orthodox and exposed and fall far short of threatening."

Security authorities failed to clear the ISIS cells from al-Azim despite dozens of security operations. Observers believe that the sub-district located at the border with Saladin is infested with undiscovered fortified ISIS sites.

NY Republicans sue to block City Council measure allowing non-citizens to vote
[NYPOST] A group of New York Republicans filed a lawsuit Monday to block a new law that will soon allow about 800,000 non-citizens to vote in local elections. The suit, filed in Staten Island Supreme Court
...the political football known as The Highest Court in the Land, home of penumbrae and emanations...
, asks a judge to issue an injunction that prevents the city Board of Elections and the mayor from "implementing the law in any respect" due to its unconstitutionality.

"The law is clear and the ethics are even clearer: we shouldn’t be allowing citizens of other nations to vote in our elections, full stop. We are only two weeks into the Adams Administration and he is already kowtowing to the radical City Council," New York Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy, a plaintiff in the suit, said in a statement.

"This lawsuit is the only thing that will stop them from their ultimate goal of eradicating all the lines between citizens and non-citizens," he said.

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), who represents Staten Island and Brooklyn, called the new measure "careless," claiming it "dilutes" perspectives of US citizens.

Iraq's New Parliament Holds 1st Session Marked by Disarray
Unexpectedly.
[An Nahar] Iraq's new parliament has reelected its speaker for a second term, the first step toward forming a new government after a general election whose results have been contested by powerful Iran-backed factions. In a reflection of tensions, the meeting was marked by disarray, with the eldest member of Parliament who was leading the session being evacuated to the hospital apparently due to the stress.

The chaotic meeting ushers in what is likely to be a lengthy period of political wrangling among rival groups to choose a new president and prime minister. As leader of the biggest bloc, Shiite holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival, al-Khoei, assassinated only a few hours after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
— a maverick leader remembered for leading an insurgency against U.S. forces after the 2003 invasion — has the upper hand in forming a new government. But he will have to manage tensions with rival Shiite groups who continue to reject the election results and are demanding to have a say in the government formation process.

Reports: Shiite Duo Sees Imminent Cabinet Session 'Only a Wish'
[An Nahar] "The Cabinet won’t convene anytime soon," Shiite Duo sources said, adding that the statement Prime Minister Najib Miqati made from Baabda about an imminent Cabinet session is "only a wish."
The Duo sources told Nidaa al-Watan newspaper, in remarks published Monday, that Miqati will not call for a Cabinet session without the Shiite approval, and "no consensus has been reached yet."

"It is nothing more than wishes and a clear bet that the necessity of a session to discuss the state budget might secure the resumption of Cabinet sessions," the sources reportedly said.

Amal and Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
have not changed their stance on boycotting Cabinet until the conflict over Judge Tarek Bitar’s dismissal is resolved, according to the sources.

Miqati had affirmed a week ago, after meeting with President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah...
, that "Cabinet will be asked to convene within two days."

During the meeting, Aoun and Miqati had reportedly held a call with Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
to see if the Shiite Duo would attend the state budget session or not.

Taliban official meets son of 'lion of Panjshir' in Iran
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s foreign minister said Monday he held talks in Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
on the weekend with Ahmad Massoud, son of the late legendary Afghan resistance leader Ahmad Shah Massoud, and guaranteed his security if he returned home.
If he believes promises from the follower of the Father of Lies, he’s a fool.
Massoud’s Panjshir Valley forces provided the last resistance in September to the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, weeks after government troops capitulated.

In a video posted Monday by state media on Twitter, Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said he also met Ismail Khan, a Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province warlord who surrendered to the Taliban and left the country.

The Taliban had announced Muttaqi’s departure to Tehran for talks with Iranian officials but made no mention of any plans to meet exiled leaders.

"We met commander Ismail Khan and Ahmad Massoud, and other Afghans in Iran, and assured them that anyone can come to Afghanistan and live without any concerns," Muttaqi said in the video.

"It’s home to all, and we do not create insecurity or other problems for anyone. Everyone can come freely and live."

The Panjshir Valley is famed for being the site of resistance to Soviet forces in the 1980s and the Taliban in the late 1990s, during their first stint in power.

Its most revered figure is Ahmad Shah Massoud, known as the "Lion of Panjshir," who was assassinated in 2001 by al-Qaeda two days before the 9/11 attacks.

His son has since picked up the mantle, and there have been reports of him organizing a resistance with other exiled Afghan leaders.

The Massoud-led National Resistance® Front has repeatedly denounced the Taliban -- calling it an "illegitimate government" -- but does not appear to have made any physical attacks.

...A product, and probably the sole product, of the Southern Alliance...
The Taliban promised a general amnesty to all opponents and critics after taking over, but rights organizations say at least 100 people associated with the former regime have been killed since then.
See? Don’t trust ‘em.
A prominent Afghan university professor and open critic of the Taliban was arrested in Kabul on the weekend after repeatedly speaking out on television against the country’s new rulers.

The hardline Islamists have swiftly cracked down on dissent, forcefully dispersing women’s rights protests and briefly detaining several Afghan journalists.

Two militants killed in Kulgam gunfight: police
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Police on Monday claimed to have killed two Death Eaters affiliated with the al-Badr outfit in a shootout in Hasanpora area located on the border between Kulgam and Anantnag districts in south Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
"Based on a specific input generated by Kulgam Police regarding presence of forces of Evil in village Hasanpora situated on border between Kulgam and Anantnag, a joint cordon and search operation was launched yesterday evening by Police and 1stRR in the said area," a police front man said.

"During the search operation, as the joint search party proceeded towards the suspected spot, the hiding forces of Evil fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, two forces of Evil of proscribed terror outfit al-Badr were killed and their bodies were retrieved from the site of the encounter, " he added while identifying the slain duo as Imad Muzaffar Wani resident of Arigam Pulwama and Abdul Rashid Thoker resident of Hassanpora.

Police further said the two "were part of groups involved in several terror crime cases including attacks on security forces and civilian atrocities". "Besides, terrorist Imad Wani was involved in attack on police personnel Mushtaq Ahmad Wagay of Pulwama on 19-12-2021, in which the said police personnel got seriously injured. While as, killed terrorist Abdul Rashid Thoker, before joining terrorist ranks was working as terrorist associate and was also involved in attack on a civilian at Chitragam in which said civilian got injured".

It said "incriminating" materials, arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter, which have been taken into case records for further investigation.

Iraq
ISIS-affiliated families return to Iraq from al-Hol camp
[Rudaw] Iraq repatriated over one hundred families affiliated with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) from the notorious al-Hol camp in northeast Syria (Rojava), an official confirmed to AFP on Monday.

One hundred and eleven families arrived in Iraq on Saturday and were transferred to al-Jada camp in Nineveh province, the official, who preferred to stay anonymous, told AFP.

Mainly under federal Iraqi control, al-Jada houses families with suspected links to ISIS.

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) arrested thousands of ISIS fighters and their wives and children when they took control of the group’s last stronghold in Syria in March 2019. Most of these people are held at al-Hol, which is home to more than 60,000 people - mostly women and kiddies of different nationalities.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Saturday reported that 113 Iraqi families were preparing to be transferred to al-Jada camp following an agreement between the camp’s administration and the federal government. The camp received some five hundred ISIS-affiliated families in late May.

Around 223 Iraqi families left the camp in 2021, according to SOHR as the camp houses over 30 thousand Iraqis from more than seven thousand families, it noted.

Last month, the Iraqi authorities announced their intention to close al-Jada camp, which is the last camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, as the Iraqi government began to shut down camps around the country in 2020.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
the move was harshly criticized by rights groups as they called for voluntary returns instead.

Al-Hol has been branded a breeding ground for terrorism. The camp’s internal security forces (Asayish) in late November, arrested 14 Iraqis that "confessed to killings, chaos, raiding reception centers and targeting internal security forces" inside the camp.

Africa Horn
Eritrean troops linked to fresh attacks in Ethiopia's Tigray region
[Garowe] The Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
n Defense Forces [EDF] have been linked to fresh attacks in the troubled Tigray region, in what could yet again escalate the ongoing conflict within the region, whose army is in active war with Æthiopia National Defense Forces [ENDF].

Since the war between Tigray Defense Forces [TDF] and ENDF broke out in November 2020, the Eritrean troops have often been accused of crossing over the border to assist the Æthiopian army along with Amhara regional forces.

Although Eritrea has often refuted the claims, the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
Special Rapporteur to Eritrea did confirm that indeed Asmara deployed troops to Æthiopia contrary to international laws and regulations.

On Sunday, Getachew Reda, the official spokesperson of the TDF, said the Eritrea troops launched attacks on TPLF in Northern Tigray just near the Eritrea-Æthiopian border, triggering massive losses of innocent civilians.

"The Eritrean military launched fresh attacks against our forces yesterday in Sigem Kofolo, AfiTsetser, located in Northwestern Tigray close to Sheraro town. The latest attack is an extension of its aggression against the people of Tigray. It also signals the regime’s brazen disregard of international law," said.

The Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in reference seems to be the one that eyewitnesses reported on Saturday, based on the description by the spokesperson. The airstrike left at least 56 people mainly children and women dead according to several aid agencies.

The Tigray rebels accused Eritrean of dragging efforts to find peace in Æthiopia, noting that Asmara authorities are keen to sabotage international efforts to reconcile the two conflicting parties within the federal republic of Æthiopia.

"Equally important, it clearly shows how determined the regime in Asmara is to continue to sabotage any and all peacemaking efforts in the region ostensibly to protect ’Æthiopia’s unity’, as President Isaias Afwerki made it clear in his interview yesterday," he added.

"True to form, President Isaias has during his interview given instructions to Abiy Ahmed to dismantle ethnic federalism. It behooves the IC to take actions to compel this regime to respect elementary rules of international law and hold it accountable for its crimes."

Both Afwerki and Abiy Ahmed have formed a strong alliance along with outgoing Somalia's President Mohammed Abdullahi Farmaajo, which has been widely criticized by several stakeholders. Afwerki is linked to a clandestine strategy to control the Horn of Africa.

The Æthiopian authorities have remained mum about the latest airstrike claims despite the new year message by Abiy Ahmed which was anchored on reconciliation. Ahmed insisted there is s need for the country to reconcile for the sake of peace and stability.

Will the US succeed in sabotaging negotiations with Russia?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

[REGNUM] Talks between Russia and the United States on the issue of security guarantees, even before their start, ran into a negotiating impasse. The parties have not yet been able to agree even on an agenda. Russia insists on one thing, the United States on another. What is going on now, in fact, is not negotiations, but preparation for the opportunity to enter them.

The other, non-blinking side then demands further concessions...

Cops seek suspects in gang assault that left good Samaritan dead
[NYPOST] Cops are hunting for a group wanted in a gang assault on New Year’s Day that led to the death of a good Samaritan who was struck by a train in the Bronx.
The deadly incident unfolded around 2:40 a.m. inside the Fordham Road subway station when one of the suspects approached a 38-year-old man and "displayed a knife" before the group began "physically assaulting him," the NYPD said.

The victim tumbled onto the tracks as a train approached — and that’s when a 25-year-old man jumped onto the roadbed to try to rescue him. The younger man was instead struck and killed by the oncoming train.

Police didn’t release the dead man’s name.

The assault victim — who was not hit by the train — was taken to an area hospital for a broken arm, cops said.

New photos from the station show about a dozen people who appear to be in their teens and early 20s who fled the station, according to police.

Disgraced FBI No. 2 Andrew McCabe Calls For Feds To Treat ‘Mainstream' Conservatives Like Domestic Terrorists
How fortunate he no longer has any power to act on his nasty ideas.
[The Federalist] Have you ever wondered what disgraced former deputy FBI directors do after trying to stage a coup and lying under oath? Apparently, they give talks about "protecting democracy" at top-rated institutions of higher learning. Indeed, this last Thursday the University of Chicago invited former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe to join a panel of partisans to discuss the Jan 6 "insurrection."

McCabe was fired as the deputy FBI director for leaking sensitive information about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation and then lying about it under oath. He also took part in spying on the Donald Trump campaign through a secret warrant granted by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court.

The dossier he used to obtain the surveillance warrant was funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and, in an ironic twist, was itself the product of Russian disinformation. McCabe and his allies in corporate media justified all sorts of similar illegal and undemocratic tactics to discredit and attempt to unseat President Trump.

GOP candidates blast Hochul for 'inaction' on Bragg's 'crazy' policies
[NYPOST] Potential Republican challengers on Monday stepped up their demands for Gov. Kathy Hochul to oust Manhattan’s new district attorney — calling his progressive prosecution policies "crazy" and her silence amid the controversy "cowardly."Andrew Giuliani, who served as an advisor to then-President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
, said DA Alvin Bragg will "incentivize criminals to continue to go and spiral as we have seen over the past three, four, five years in this great city."

"It is absolutely crazy," Giuliani said during a news conference outside the Murray Hill building that houses Hochul’s Manhattan office.

"It is time that Kathy Hochul removes Alvin Bragg from office."

US Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-LI), a rival for the GOP’s gubernatorial nomination, said that if Bragg "wanted to ignore the law, he shouldn’t have run for a position responsible for enforcing the law."

"New Yorkers are tired of this pathetic inaction by the governor, they’re tired of this cowardly deafening silence day after day and they are passionate about the need to strengthen public policy, public safety, the rule of law and to back our men and women in blue," he said across from the DA’s Office headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

Iran Prosecutor Threatens Action against Protesting Justice Staff
[An Nahar] Iran's prosecutor general threatened Monday to launch criminal proceedings against judiciary personnel who have protested against the denial of a planned pay rise.

"The colleagues must put an end to some actions that can open the way to abuse by enemies of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran," said Mohammad Jafar Montazeri in a statement by the judiciary's media arm Mizan Online.

Such "illegal actions... contradict sharia principles and are liable to legal action," he added.

Ultraconservative President Ebrahim Raisi, who assumed his post in August, had proposed a salary hike in the last weeks of his previous job as judicial chief.

But the new government which he leads changed its mind and judicial personnel protested on Saturday and Sunday in many Iranian cities against the decision.

"The question of personnel livelihoods is being considered carefully by the head of the (judicial) authority and the government has likewise promised to pursue it favourably," the prosecutor added.

Shargh, a newspaper representing the reformist viewpoint, on Sunday published video of a protest by hundreds of men and women in front of parliament in Tehran.

"If our problem is not resolved, we will shut down the justice system!" they chanted.

Another reformist paper, Arman Melli, reported that judicial personnel organised rallies "in most" cities to protest against the reversal of the plan to raise salaries.

The demonstrators held up signs with slogans declaring that "justice workers are unable to support themselves" and decrying the "hypocrisy of the government and parliament".

If Norman Mailer can be cancelled, no one is safe
By Tim Black

[SpikedOnline] Norman Mailer (1923-2007) was a giant of 20th-century American literature. He was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, responsible for such classics as The Naked and the Dead. And he pioneered a new style of journalism, which revelled in and foregrounded the subjective experience and feelings of the writer. Yet none of that seems to matter to his long-time publisher, Penguin Random House, which has effectively just cancelled him.

Mailer was no stranger to controversy and criticism when alive, of course. The great historian and social critic, Christopher Lasch, saw an archetypally modern narcissism at work in Mailer’s self-revelatory prose. And feminists damned him for his opposition to contraception and his posturing machismo, a charge that acquired a darker resonance after he stabbed his wife Adele Morales with a penknife for mocking his masculinity. (Morales survived and Mailer served three years on probation.)

Yet none of his contemporaries would have dreamed of calling for Mailer’s cancellation. For good or ill, he was a truly significant cultural figure. He was a writer who not only bore witness to his age but helped shape it, too, co-founding the Village Voice in 1955, and capturing the ‘hip’, ‘beat’ and aggressively countercultural spirit of his time. He may have irked some, and he may have inspired others. But both his critics and his champions were united in recognising his importance.

Kazakhstan: This is a conspiracy of internal and external forces
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[ColonelCassad] The head of the State Council of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Karin, said that what happened in early January in Kazakhstan was the result of a conspiracy of internal and external forces. In fact, he outlined the contours of the official version of the events of January 2-10, so far without names and actors.

Actually, he confirmed the obvious things connected with the fact that behind the screen of "gas protests" a completely different game was developing associated with the struggle of the Kazakh clans, to which various external forces joined or tried to join at certain stages.

-Land of the Free
My Time with Gary Merrill
Slightly edited.
Greetings and salutations to my favorite website Rantburg Defender-Scimitar and Times-Picayune. I am Bill the Great4152, where it is my pleasure, by invitation, to provide readers with a few brief anecdotes and reminiscences of Gary Merrill and Bette Davis.

My introduction to Gary Merrill happened by pure accident in 1976, at a restaurant/bar named Kayo's, which was right next door to the newly constructed Main Police Station, Headquarters for the City of Portland, Maine.

Kayo's had a reputation for being one of the city's safest places to eat and drink, as well as being the most convenient place for the highly inebriated to find "alternate transportation" from the city to their homes; the Yellow Taxi Cab company was cattycorner from this policeman's bar.

It was an early spring evening when I stepped into the bar to quench my thirst and grab a light dinner.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, the place was packed, save for one seat at the horseshoe bar, next to a somewhat disheveled 60-ish year old gentleman, who was sitting and leaning in the "hard corner" of the bar, up against the brick wall.

Being the polite 22 year old man that I was, I asked the gentleman if he had need of the vacant bar stool, was he waiting for someone, could I use it. He looked at his watch, said "Beth is a hour and half late, and she likely won't be here anytime soon", motioned to me to sit and said, "It's all yours, friend."

I thanked him, introduced myself as Bill and he said his name was Gary, we shook hands and I sat down.

I'm a cigarette smoker, so I pulled out one of my packs of Pall Mall Gold 100's filter out of my jacket pocket, pulled one cigarette out of the pack and lit up. My new bar buddy, Gary asked for a cigarette, "Sure, no problem." I had him remove his cigarette from the pack and I put the pack on the bar facing both of us, saying, “They are there when you need 'em, help yourself."

I also put my Zippo on the deck of the bar. To my surprise, Gary didn't light up immediately, but instead tapped both ends of the cigarette on my Zippo, ripped off the filter, and then lit up the ragged end of the cigarette. As he lit up, I looked at his face: the light of cigarette lighter showed me a familiar face, and it dawned on me who he might be.

I asked him directly, "Gary, you would happen to be The Gary Merrill, The actor, Star or co-star of some of the best B rated movies of the 1950's, would you?" And he replied, "They were all A rated movies as far as I'm concerned, it was the box office that made them B."

Jeepers, Christmas in Heaven, Gary Merrill, once married to Bette Davis, Hollywood Legends, holy smokes man, you are talking with a Star.

Gary and I hit it off like an uncle with his nephew. We talked about him owning a decommissioned lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, his run for Congressional Office as a Representative of Maine in 1970, his quirky habit of wearing a kilt in summer whilst visiting/shopping in The City of Portland (the first US city called Portland, founded in 1623), his adopted daughter, who wrote a very unflattering biography about Bette Davis and his, Gary's defence of his former wife Beth, (Bette to you), his business voice-overs for advertisements, and a lot more.

In closing, I want to tell you, Gary still loved his ex-wife Beth, even in 1975, 15 years after their divorce. I asked Gary, "What attracted you first to your wife Bette/Beth?” and he said to me, “She was older that me, I was 34/35, she was 41/42, we worked on a movie together, I loved her scent, I loved the way she moved. I looked in her eyes they were captivating, but it was her lips that touched me; the best kisser I ever had."

Gary died in Falmouth, Maine in 1990... I'll never forget my old drinking buddy.

Government Corruption
Eric Adams has only hobbled his war on crime by giving his his brother and Phil Banks top jobs
[NYPOST] Mayor Eric Adams
...retired New York City police captain, member of the New York State Senate, first Black Brooklyn borough president, law and order Dem after a brief fling with the Publicans. The New York Times isn't fond of him, suspecting he may not actually be black...
vowed to restore law and order, but tapping his own brother, Bernard Adams, as a deputy NYPD commissioner and controversial Phil Banks
...now entering our archives for the first time...
as deputy mayor for public safety can only cause needless distractions and doubt.

Many will assume his deputy-commish choice was straight-up nepotism. That will add to concerns over Banks, who comes with a cloud over his head, overseeing a department that needs all the support it can get amid surging crime, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s pro-criminal orders and continued anti-police hostility from the left.

Worse, the mayor claims he chose his brother to protect him from "white supremacy
...the pernicious doctrine that laws were intended to be obeyed, that society works better when people don't pour shreiking from their places of worship every Friday for a weekend of rioting over insults real or imagined; and that cannibalism, beastiality, incest, murder, theft, rape, and similar activities are bad. A Dead White European (which invalidates his opinion) philosopher once opined that societies thrive when a person's word can be relied upon, and that a society which puts individual happiness first will invariably fail. Strangely enough, other successful societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and those kinds of places could also be lumped with white supremacist societies, since they push the same values...
": Bernard "will be in charge of my security, which is extremely important to me at a time when we see an increase in white supremacy and hate crimes."

"We have a serious problem with white supremacy," he continued. Huh? In ultra-blue New York? (Hate crimes did rise last year, but nearly two thirds targeted Asians and Jews, less than 6% were aimed at blacks.)

No one seriously believes that tough-guy, ex-cop Eric Adams really feels so unsafe. (His folks won’t say whether he’s faced any specific threats from white supremacists or from the anarchists he also cited.)

Bernard was a cop for 20 years, but he’s a retired police sergeant who recently worked as assistant director for parking at Virginia Commonwealth University, per his LinkedIn profile. And he tells The Post he’ll oversee governmental affairs — in a civilian position (that typically draws a $242,000 salary).

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Russian Foxtrot Class Submarine for Sale, Grizzled Ex Soviet Sub Commander Not Included
[AutoEvolution] Jeremy Clarkson once famously quoted that he'd choose to serve on a submarine if he were ever conscripted into military service. Well, Jezza, you don't even need to sign up anymore. He could just use some of his Diddly Squat Farm money to buy this abandoned Russian submarine.

The Foxtrot class Russian submarine, as NATO designated it, represented the dull mass of the Soviet and then the Russian navy from the late 1950s all the way until less than a decade ago. The 90 meters long (294 ft 11in) sub was powered by three Kolomna 2D42M diesel engines rated at 2,000 horsepower each.

These diesel engines run in conjunction with three electric motors ranging from 1,350 to 2,700 horsepower. The end result is a sub that could endure speeds of 15 knots (28 km/h) while underwater for as many as three to five days at a time. Its ten torpedo tubes were a threat to any NATO ship passing through its jurisdiction. This ship has room for a crew of 12 officers, 10 warrants, and 56 seamen.

With their retirement from front line service in 2014, this is just one of the Foxtrot subs that may very soon be open to civilian sale. Many already serve as museum ships, with two examples located in Los Angeles and San Diego, respectively. This particular example was actually retired in 1993 to be preserved as a museum ship, which it's served as since 1998.
The San Diego B-39 exhibit closed. It was wearing out, with hull rust
he online description on mysubmarines.com claims the ship is largely as it was when it left the Russian Military, with no vital drivetrain or navigational components removed. Whether as a one-of-a-kind rich people's toy or as an educational museum ship, this submarine has the potential to be far more useful than an antiquated pile of floating scrap. Check out the gallery above to see more of what this vessel has on offer.

Pricing and shipping information is reserved for only the most serious prospective buyers. So you better have your paperwork and credit score in order if you're ready to spend your days LARPING as a Soviet submarine commander.

Al-Shabaab attacks SNA in central Somalia as leaders ink election deal
[Garowe] Somalia-based al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them...
turbans have killed top commanders serving in the Somali National Army [SNA], in an attack that comes amid reports that the turbans have expanded their territory following a political impasse in the country.

Politicians in Somalia are battling over the control of elections and the team agreed on Sunday to hold parliamentary polls by February 25. Later on, senators and MPs will elect the president of the federal republic of Somalia.

On Sunday, reports indicate, al-Shabaab turbans engaged in a fierce shootout with the Somali National Army at Adakibir, about 60 kilometers East of Adado in central Somalia. The fighting continued for hours with the turbans overpowering the government forces.

According to officials, major Ali Mohammed So’adde was among four soldiers killed in the al-Shabaab attack on AdaKibir village. He died on the battlefield while coordinating troops during the attack.

Also on Sunday afternoon, Col. Ali Agaweyne, the operational commander of sector 21 succumbed to injuries sustained following a deadly encounter between government forces and al-Shabaab in AdaKibir village.

He was fatally injured in fighting along with the commander of the 13th battalion Major Ali M So’adde. The attack is the fighting major loss for the dedicated Somali National Army officers this year when the country is focused on matters of elections.

Al-Shabaab has been scaling up attacks with analysts saying the current electoral dispute has given room for the turbans to organize themselves for major assaults. The al-Shabaab turbans control huge chunks of central and southern Somalia.

Nebraska announces $500M plan to claim water from Colorado
[aol.com] LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts announced a $500 million plan Monday to divert water out of Colorado under a 99-year-old compact between the states that allows Nebraska to seize access to Colorado land along the South Platte River and build canals.

Ricketts said Nebraska would invoke its rights under the South Platte River Compact amid concerns that Colorado's plans for the river could reduce water flows into his state by as much as 90%, taking a potentially huge toll on Nebraska's agricultural and power industries and likely affecting water supplies in the state's two largest cities, Omaha and Lincoln.

"We are very concerned about what is going to happen with these projects," Ricketts, a Republican, said at a news conference. The reduced streamflows "are going to have a dramatic impact on our ability to feed the world."

Angry biz leaders to meet with new DA Alvin Bragg, discuss recall efforts over soft-on-crime agenda
[NYPOST] The Partnership for New York City, the Big Apple’s largest business advocacy organization, will meet with progressive Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg to voice their concerns over details of his stay-out-of-jail free card for criminals. Some members of the group are so angered by Bragg’s new policies that they are also discussing efforts to recall the newly elected prosecutor, The Post has learned.

The meeting was prompted as complaints from city business leaders poured into the office of Kathryn Wylde, the Partnership’s CEO, beginning last week after a memo from Bragg’s office outlined his new, hyper-lenient policies for prosecutors seeking incarcerations.

Bragg’s memo ordered his staff not to "seek a carceral sentence" except for murders and other extremely violent mostly peaceful cases. The memo added that Bragg’s new rule "may be excepted only in extraordinary circumstances based on a holistic analysis of the facts, criminal history, victim’s input (particularly in cases of violence or trauma), and any other information available."

Colorado Rep. Perlmutter becomes 26th House Democrat to duck '22 reelection
[NYPOST] Rep. Ed Perlmutter has joined the stampede of House Democrats who say they will not run for reelection later this year.

In a Monday statement, the 68-year-old Perlmutter (D-Colo.) announced his departure from Congress, saying it was time to "pass the torch to the next generation."
"of Constitutional arsonists"
"After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to run for reelection," he wrote. "I have loved representing my friends, neighbors and fellow Coloradans in the Congress of the United States of America. I will miss meeting the voters of the new 7th District — it is truly the most beautiful district in America."

Perlmutter’s district has become more competitive due to redistricting. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
the politician said that the Democratic "bench in the 7th District is deep and fortunately we have a strong group of leaders who are ready and able to take up that torch."

Perlmutter is the 26th House Democrat to say they will not seek another two-year term and the 18th to retire from Congress altogether. His retirement announcement followed that of Rep. Brenda Lawrence (D-Mich.) last week.

#2  I had an adult literacy student many years ago who also discovered she was pregnant at the age of fifteen when the baby fell out. She was a daydreamy sort of girl in the hills of Kentucky who’d taken nine years to get as far as fourth grade, but most of that was social advancement — she’d stopped learning anything useful halfway through first grade, though she caught up quickly the year I tutored her. At any rate, she was a big, big-boned girl, and just assumed she was continuing to get fat. The boy married her, the marriage was a successful one, and she knew exactly what she was doing for their second child.

Once I gave her the tools she needed to learn how to learn, she pushed her daughter to get a high school diploma. Her son added honour cords to his, followed by graduating from the police academy at the top of his class. Though she never went for a GED herself, she loved being able to read to and with her daughter’s son, and ended up leading a bible study group in her church

#4  I was merely the midwife, dear M. She did all the hard work after I spent a grand total of 30 minutes a week with her in one of the meeting rooms at the public library. Her goal was to read the bible, so after we did the day’s lesson on words starting with that particular letter of the alphabet, I’d help her sound out the assigned verse in her bible, then the verses before and after, using it as an excuse to practice looking up words and discussing what the verses meant. She was a bright woman, and needed no more than that to go galloping off on her own. I was humbled to see what real learning looked like — I had it so easy in comparison.

One of the things I deeply regret about being sick is that I wasn’t able to take up tutoring again once the trailing daughters needed me less. It was a small thing that impacted three generations and beyond.

In addition they knew back in 2020 that Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine were effective treatments.

But not to worry - they are working on a *new* vaccine. One which will provide so-called 'protection'.

Their lawsuit immunity should be made as effective as their vaccine. *AND* any wrongful death suits should pierce the corporate veil and be against him, and his co-horts, personally. He lied - people died.

Dr. Robert Malone Fires Off Warning Shot on The War Room: Latest Disease Spreading Across China an ‘Ebola-Like Hemorrhagic Fever Virus’
[Rumble] Dr. Robert Malone joined Steve Bannon on The War Room to discuss the latest viral outbreak in China. The communist regime is hiding the nature and spread of this latest disease.

This has many experts worried including Dr. Malone who is the inventor of the mRNA vaccines. Dr. Malone today told the War Room audience that he is hearing the current disease that is spreading across China is reportedly an "Ebola-like hemorrhagic fever virus." The regime is hiding the true nature of this disease from the public and from the global community — Just like last time!

Today there are 5.5 million people dead (and counting) from the last China pandemic.

Now we could be talking about an "Ebola-like hemorrhagic fever virus."

Dr. Malone: "They are using language that this is a hemorrhagic fever virus. If that’s the case then it would be very odd that this would be something caused by the Coronavirus. That terminology is usually used for viruses in the family of Ebola. So this is something that many people have feared is the development of a rapidly spreading Ebola-like hemorrhagic fever virus. But we have not knowledge of whether that is going on here or not."

#1  Viruses associated with rodents are spread through direct contact with rodent urine or feces; they are also spread when people breathe in particles from rodent urine or feces that have gotten into the air (e.g., from sweeping dirt containing dried urine or feces).

Winter tradition. Rats want to keep warm.

#2  Hemorrhagic fever virus is endemic in Korea. Lost one troop to it during my tour. They weren't shutting down anything. The 'Plague' is endemic to the four corner area of the US. It's also carried by rodents. They never shut the states down over it.

this however should be a warning to athletes planning on going to the winter Olympics

#8  this however should be a warning to athletes planning on going to the winter Olympics

Well. Where to start? For people who have basically been training their entire lives to compete at the olympic level, it's really difficult for them to pass up the chance, whatever the situation. Ironically, many of these individuals are hard-core woke despite living lives where only God-given talent plus extremely hard work gets them to where they are.
Down the road, will America participate in any olympics that take place in a country where people are denied work, basic rights, rounded up in camps because they don't drink all the COVIDian kool-ade? I sure hope not.
Many of the athletes are carrying slave-labor made Crapple products. Of course they will go to china, given the chance.
People always have and always will make deals with the devil. It's up to each of us individually to not join them or partake of their moral comprimises.

#9  Malone is an NIH insider. He sits on the NIH ACTIV committee that manages clinical research related to drug and antibody treatments for COVID.

From everything I've heard, Malone is always precise in his descriptions, detailed in his explanations, extremely punctilious about his sourcing.

The image created by his detractors is the opposite of how he actually comes across. He's calm, deliberate, careful, good-humored and extremely clear and complete in his explanations. Zero evasions or conspiracy-mongering.

Iraq
Kataib Hezbollah: ''tough days will pass in Iraq''
[SHAFAQ] The security official of the Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades, Abu Ali al-Askari, warned that "tough days will pass in Iraq" after "confiscating the right of the majority."Al-Askari posted on Telegram, "we keep calling for returning the rights to their people until our voices were hoarse. We were repeatedly warned of the danger of confiscating the right of the majority and following the foreign will, especially the British and Emirati."

According to field information and security evaluations, he added, "tough days will pass in Iraq, in which everyone will lose."

Earlier today, an Iranian delegation that included diplomatic personnel and figures from the Revolutionary Guards arrived in Baghdad to contribute to the convergence of views between the Coordination Framework and the Sadrist Movement and unify them in the largest bloc in the Iraqi parliament.

A political source told Shafaq News Agency, "The Iranian delegation left the Iraqi capital angry and upset after failing to reconcile the two sides."

"Al-Sadr kept insisting in his decision not to ally with the Framework if Nuri al-Maliki, the leader of the State of Law Coalition, will be a part of the alliance."

The Source told our Agency that the Shiite Coordination Framework categorically refused this suggestion and stressed the importance of allying with all its forces."

He added, "al-Sadr's desire to remove al-Maliki from the alliance and the Shiite House prevent the Iranian delegation from reaching a solution."

The Sadrist Movement and the Shiite Framework recently held several meetings and agreed on many subjects. Still, the main differences are forming the new government and the components of the largest bloc.

On the shape of the government, al-Sadr insists on a majority government while the Framework suggested a consensus.

Earlier, al-Sadr hinted at the political forces allied with him to form the next government, saying, "Any threats will make us more resolute (Tasmeem bloc/ five seats), advanced (Takadum bloc/ 37 seats), and determined (Al-Azm bloc/ 14 seats) to reach an Iraqi democracy (Kurdistan Democratic Party/ 31 seats)."

It is worth noting that according to the results of the elections, the Sadrist Movement won the highest number of seats (73.)

Compared with 2018 results, The al-Fateh Alliance, a leading party of the Framework, lost 31 seats, taking only 17 seats in the last elections.

The Shiite Coordination Framework, which includes the State of Law Coalition and al-Fateh, renewed its call to "all representatives of the largest social component (Shiites), especially the brothers in the Sadrist bloc, to form the largest bloc to preserve this constitutional entitlement and the stability of the political process."

A State of Law member, Aref al-Hamami, warned that excluding his alliance from the next government is "a political suicide," expecting new developments in the coming hours.

US surgeons transplant a PIG heart into a human in world first op: Dying Maryland handyman, 57, who's ineligible for a human organ is 'doing well' three days after risky 'last ditch' procedure
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News]
  • David Bennett, 57, is the first human to receive a pig heart as an organ transplant

  • Surgeons in Baltimore transplanted the pig heart on Friday and Bennett is said to be recovering and doing well, but it is too soon to know long-term effects

  • Bennett was dying and ineligible for a human heart donation because heart failure and an irregular heartbeat made him ineligible

  • He also disqualified himself by failing to follow doctors' advice, such as missing appointments and refusing to take medicine

  • 'It was either die or do this transplant,' said Bennett before the operation. 'I want to live. I know it's a shot in the dark, but it's my last choice'

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Why I don't like the fact that Russia is participating in the operation in Kazakhstan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. edited.
by Aleksandr Kots

[KP] Tokayev's appeal to the CSTO looks like an attempt to relieve himself of part of the responsibility for the blood that is already pouring on the streets of Alma-Ata and will still be shed in the coming days.

I’ll say an unpopular thing, but I don’t really like the fact that Russian troops are participating in this peacekeeping operation. Because they will immediately draw away all the negativity from the Kazakh military, and this will inevitably affect the Russians who live in the country. You can't show a man with a gun, but a neighbor with a Slavic face - easily. The peacekeepers will leave sooner or later, and the Russians will be left alone with a part of an angry and nationalist-minded society.

Tokayev's appeal to the CSTO looks like an attempt to relieve himself of part of the responsibility for the blood that is already pouring on the streets of Alma-Ata and will still be shed in the coming days. And the fact that Kazakhstan cannot independently cope with either armed marauders or international terrorists (so far no one has provided evidence of their presence, by the way), does not say anything good about its statehood. It's not even a Taliban invasion. * Here you involuntarily think about the combat readiness of our allies on the border with Afghanistan.

But since the decision on the peacekeeping operation has been made, that is, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Belarus is eager to fight. They all have peacekeeping units, the coordination of which took place in numerous joint exercises. So let them prove themselves. Ours do not need to prove anything. They have shown themselves more than once in real operations.

Nevertheless, the first transport planes with Russian paratroopers have already taken off from the Chkalovsky airfield. They, of course, should not be engaged in establishing order, or cleansing, or capturing marauders. Only the defense of strategic facilities for Russia - both military and oil and gas, control of transport arteries acting in the interests of Russia, and the protection of areas inhabited by the Russian population. Well, humanitarian aid, as usual.

NYC Armed Robberies Increased 19.4% In One Week

[Daily Mail] A prayer vigil for Bayron-Nieves will be held of Thursday night at the Burger King in Harlem.

The fatal robbery comes as New York City's crime rate soars after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's controversial decision to downgrade burglary, armed robbery and drug dealing crimes felonies to misdemeanors.

The number of robberies has since increased by 19.4 percent over the course of the last week.

Meanwhile, former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton lashed out at Bragg, claiming the city's new woke top prosecutor is 'handcuffing the police' as authorities search for Bayron-Nieves killer, while blaming George Soros for Bragg's election.

Current NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell echoed Bratton's claims, and slammed the new policy as she considered it a 'danger' to officers.

Bratton, who said that Soros has 'effectively destroyed the criminal justice system in America,' called Bragg's woke policies of downgrading burglary, armed robbery and drug dealing from felonies to just misdemeanors a 'recipe for disaster.'
