A Medicare scam that just kept rolling
[Washington Post] The government has paid billions to buy power wheelchairs. It has no idea how many of the claims are bogus.
I see the commercials for power wheelchairs frequently on TV. Somebody is making money...

#3  10 percent or more of all medicare/caid wheelchairs are in NYC. One reason is that methadone causes kidney failure! We are spending billions keeping these enfeebled junkies rolling along. This is pathetic public policy linked to deep corruption in the health device racket. Give them heroin!!!

Who is really leveling "cronyism" charges at Perry
[Washington Post] Far from a "good government foundation," Texans for Public Justice is a left-wing attack group that seems to issue scathing "crony capitalism" attacks on Texas conservatives just as they prepare to run for national office. It has received funding from George Soros and other left-leaning foundations, as well as an undisclosed list of what the groups leader, Craig McDonald, vaguely calls "some wealthy liberal individuals, including trial lawyers."

McDonald made his political biases quite clear in a recent piece for the New York Times last month, where he criticized Perry's "embrace of the Christian right and his positions on marriage, abortion, education, environmental protection and health care" and wrote:
Perry's boots, twang and swagger are triggering flashbacks among swing voters still smarting from the last cowboy presidency. But don't equate Perry and George W. Bush. Texas clones cows — not cowboys. When Perry took the reins from Bush in 2000, he pulled Texas even farther right... Meet Rick Perry: the guy who'll make you miss George Bush.

Texans for Public Justice 's opposition to Gov. Perry may have less to do with its concerns about "crony capitalism" than Perry's conservative agenda. One area where TPJ seems particularly unhappy with Perry is his successful passage of "loser pays" lawsuit reform in Texas. TPJ has been an intractable opponent of tort reform in Texas. Indeed, a pro-tort reform coalition called Texans for Lawsuit Reform recently turned the tables on Texans for Public Justice and issued a scathing report of its own on the group's political biases and its failure to disclose many of its funders.

#1  Texas conservative politicians are embraced, invited and preached to by Texas preachers in Texas Churches every Sunday. Almost every Sunday, a state Administrative Official, state congressman, and even Texas reps in the US Congress either sit in the audience of, lead the prayer of or even speak to the largest Southern Baptist Texas church in Dallas. Even Mark Steyn spoke there a couple of weeks ago. Texas conservative churches are tight with Texas politics.

The Dallas congregation, pastor or staff never publicize who is going to be in any Sunday morning service, but there is always a government someone and it seems that church recruits hard to keep State government officials participating every Sunday morning so they can hear the "Biblical Word".

Then drive anywhere outside the metro areas into the vast rural areas of the state and it is all about God and Country.

These pin prick attacks supported by dollars is a waste of money and time. The conservative bedrock is deep, vast and very pro-active on a quite, grass roots level through out the state.

#3  1. Rosemary Lehmberg during her arrest and booking said "You have not heard the last of this." She seems to be correct. The vindictiveness of the left rears its head again.
2. George Soros who has money behind this is an evil old ba$tid--he is vested in destroying and replacing order with chaos and a far left agenda.
The Texans for Public Justice should be referred to as Leftists for Social Justice or some sort or thing like that. It fronts for Soros and has a history of going after high profile Pubs--basically, a hit organization gunning for Pubs.

#5  Stupid idiots never read real history. Austin is a little blue island in a great red sea. Making the execution of government by your opponent a crime is just accelerating the rush to open conflict. It was political games like this in Rome which caused Caesar to take the legion south beyond the Rubicon. Power is just another drug causing too many to lose perspective of the potential consequences of their acts. Once is a tragedy, twice is a farce.

#7  Conservatives will eventually get fed up. And hte gloves will come off. And these dumbasses in Austin will find themselves facing the same scorched earth tactics - except in GOP dominated electorates, judges and lawmen, with nearly the entire populace backing them. It will get ugly fast. Perry should be going after this prosecutor in civil court, like was done by Walker. I want the sumbitches and their families destitute, homeless, penniless, and starving under a highway bridge.

But you know what? I' getting to the point where I dont care what happens to liberals. Im more than willing to accept their loss as collateral damage - they have so little regard for civil society and fairness that their destruction and severing them from any public power will be a huge gain for everyone in society.

Patience is not a finite commodity.

Nixon criticizes Ferguson police for releasing Michael Brown 'robbery' video
[Iran Press TV] The governor of Missouri has taken a swipe at the Ferguson police for releasing to the public a video allegedly showing Michael Brown robbing a store before being killed in a police shooting.

Michael Brown was an 18-year-old unarmed African American who was shot multiple times by a police officer and killed last Saturday.

Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson, who has acknowledged that the shooting death of Brown was not related to the robbery, released the video on Friday.

Earlier, US justice Department had also warned police not to release the video.

Jay Nixon now said in several talk shows that he "deeply" disagreed with the decision to release the video.

"We certainly were not happy with that being released, especially in the way that it was," Nixon said. "It appeared to cast dispersions on a young man that was bumped off in the street. It made emotions raw," said Nixon while appearing on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

#11  The robbery has everything to do with the shooting. The officer might have had no idea of the robbery. But Brown did! What I mean is that Brown knew he had just robbed a store and thought that the officer either knew or would soon know. This would certainly influence Browns actions. The cop walked into a robbery suspect unknowingly and probably could not understand why this man was being so aggressive...

Obama Heading Back To DC In Rare Vacation Break
[HOSTED.AP.ORG] President Barack Obama
My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it...
is getting off the island.

In a rare move for him, the president planned a break in the middle of his Martha's Vineyard vacation to return to Washington on Sunday night for meetings with Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
and other advisers on the U.S. military campaign in Iraq and tensions between police and protesters in Ferguson, Missouri.

The White House has been cagey about why the president needs to be back in Washington for those discussions. He's received multiple briefings on both issues while on vacation. The White House had also already announced Obama's plans to return to Washington before the U.S. Arclight airstrikes in Iraq began and before the shooting of a teen in Ferguson that sparked protests.

Part of the decision to head back to Washington appears aimed at countering criticism that Obama is spending two weeks on a resort island in the midst of so many foreign and domestic crises.

Yet those crises turned the first week of Obama's vacation into a working holiday. He made on-camera statements Iraq and the festivities in Ferguson, a St. Louis suburb. He also called foreign leaders to discuss the tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as well as between Israel and Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,.

"I think it's fair to say there are, of course, ongoing complicated situations in the world, and that's why you've seen the president stay engaged," White House front man Eric Schultz said.

Obama is scheduled to return to Martha's Vineyard on Tuesday and stay through next weekend.

Even though work has occupied much of Obama's first week on vacation, he still found plenty of time to golf, go to the beach with his family and go out to dinner on the island. He hit the golf course one more time Sunday ahead of his departure, joining two aides and former NBA player Alonzo Mourning for an afternoon round.

Ferguson: Attorney general orders third autopsy

#5  Militarized local police no longer needed. Happy-talk Highway Patrol no longer needed. As local schools remain closed and businesses considering moving out of Ferguson, the Army National Guard is needed.

A couple of cops with Remington Model 1100's and plenty of birdshot, lawn chairs, and coffee could have ended this within 24 hours. All a poorly handled, load of total bullshi*.
