The Shatner skits were classic. Palin came off great here in a situation that could have gone very wrong. Politically I don't support her. But she doesn't have to be a politician.

Both Shatner and Palin were in on this from the start, and they pulled it off perfectly. The point is to poke fun at those who think too much of themselves by poking fun at themselves. Whether they believe it is unimportant.

The question is who benefited the most? Sarah won hands down. And poor Conin got a boost for bringing on an act that was actually funny. Shatner? Well, he got shafted in this one.

Well, Kirk is (to be) from Iowa. Shatner is from the Great White North. Not that one couldn't put a sealed birth certificate unavailable for public inspection in some friendly hands south of Frostbite Falls.

Palin with the proper handlers should run the RNC not run for President. She brings energy but she's got so many negatives for a politicians (fair or not) that I don't think she's electable.

Big Government has received what is claimed to be a leaked DOJ memo that was allegedly sent yesterday from Eric Holders Department of Justice to Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
Presumably, the inmates at Guantanamo Bay are there because they are believed to be a threat to national security. How moving them into the United States then is a good idea is beyond our powers of reasoning. While we are well aware of the Corleone advice to keep ones friend close and enemies closer, were pretty certain it wasnt meant as national security advice.

Yes, Guantanamo is being closed just as promised, we withdrew from Iraq as promised. He never promised prosecution for torture, just that he would end it, which he did.
Here are 68 accomplishments of Obama so far, about 30 more than Bush did in 8 years... Obama is at 10 months! So he's our most accomplished President we've ever had this early into his term.
We are most definitely still in Iraq, just as we are still in Germany, Japan, Italy, and South Korea.
How do you know none of our people have tortured anyone recently? For that matter, how do you know that our people ever tortured anyone? "Tantamount to torture" is not anything like "torture", either legally or morally, I'm afraid. And the New York Times, unfortunately, has demonstrated a habit of hiring fabulists as well as outstanding reporters, and being quite, quite unable to distinguish between them so long as the prose is exquisite.
You are zero for three in your post above. So I'm afraid I feel no drive to check how many of the sixty accomplishments poor President Obama also did not actually accomplish. As for being accomplished, I'm afraid he has not, to my knowledge, demonstrated mastery of any of the arts or foreign languages traditionally referred to when describing one as accomplished. Perhaps you meant to use a different word.

How moving them into the United States then is a good idea is beyond our powers of reasoning.
The rationale, of course, is that GITMO is a major tool for Jihadist recruitment. The problem with this argument is, with the exception of anecdotal speculation, there is no empirical evidence to support such a claim. Also absent is any proof that the closure will result in a recruitment reduction. And lacking said evidence makes it impossible to measure the effects of this policy either way. Which explains why the Obama administration has such a penchant for symbolic gestures. It allows them to claim accomplishment without having to neither substantiate the problem nor quantify the solution.
He promised he was going to get a pound puppy for his kids. How plebeian. So much for that promise and the others as well. Play4keeps has drunk deeply of some kind of acid-laced Kool Aide. Maybe he/she will wake up some day. I don't have much hope for this change.

Do I really? How wonderful! Because I grew up in a family of University of Buffalo academics, who learnt British English before they came to America and saw to it that their offspring learnt to read in Hebrew before we could read in English -- on which I blame some of my language use anomalies -- and then my husband's career took us abroad for some years. And then there was that nomination to Who's Who of American High School Students, for some unfathomable reason... Nobody has ever accused me of being dumb before. I feel quite, quite giddy!
