Navy Destroyer USS Michael Monsoor Commissioned
[VictoryGirlsBlog] On Saturday, January 26, 2019, the United States Navy commissioned it’s newest Destroyer. The ship, DDG-1001 is a Zumwalt-class destroyer named after Navy PO2 (SEAL) Michael A. Monsoor, KIA September 29, 2006. This destroyer is cutting edge technology and is sponsored by Sally Mansoor, mother of the late hero. According to Richard Spencer, Secretary of the Navy:

"USS Michael Monsoor is one of the most capable warfighting assets our nation has to offer. This ship will provide independent forward presence and deterrence for decades to come and I am confident the crew will operate this vessel with the level of expertise, courage and strength needed to overcome any challenge."

Michael Monsoor was only 25 years old when he died. What could he have possibly done in that time to be honored with a Navy Destroyer? Below is the video honoring this laid back, hard charger:

Michael A. Monsoor

Medal of Honor citation

"The President of the United States in the name of The Congress takes pride in presenting the MEDAL OF HONOR posthumously to
MASTER AT ARMS SECOND CLASS, SEA, AIR and LAND
MICHAEL A. MONSOOR
UNITED STATES NAVY
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while serving as Automatic Weapons Gunner for Naval Special Warfare Task Group Arabian Peninsula, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 29 September 2006. As a member of a combined SEAL and Iraqi Army sniper overwatch element, tasked with providing early warning and stand-off protection from a rooftop in an insurgent-held sector of Ar Ramadi, Iraq, Petty Officer Monsoor distinguished himself by his exceptional bravery in the face of grave danger. In the early morning, insurgents prepared to execute a coordinated attack by reconnoitering the area around the element's position. Element snipers thwarted the enemy's initial attempt by eliminating two insurgents. The enemy continued to assault the element, engaging them with a rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire. As enemy activity increased, Petty Officer Monsoor took position with his machine gun between two teammates on an outcropping of the roof. While the SEALs vigilantly watched for enemy activity, an insurgent threw a hand grenade from an unseen location, which bounced off Petty Officer Monsoor's chest and landed in front of him. Although only he could have escaped the blast, Petty Officer Monsoor chose instead to protect his teammates. Instantly and without regard for his own safety, he threw himself onto the grenade to absorb the force of the explosion with his body, saving the lives of his two teammates. By his undaunted courage, fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of certain death, Petty Officer Monsoor gallantly gave his life for his country, thereby reflecting great credit upon himself and upholding the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.[12][13]

Michael A. Monsoor

Silver Star citation

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy as Platoon Machine Gunner in Sea, Air, Land Team THREE (SEAL-3), Naval Special Warfare Task Group Arabian Peninsula, Task Unit Ramadi, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM on 9 May 2006. Petty Officer Monsoor was the Platoon Machine Gunner of an overwatch element, providing security for an Iraqi Army Brigade during counter-insurgency operations. While moving toward extraction, the Iraqi Army and Naval Special Warfare overwatch team received effective enemy automatic weapons fire resulting in one SEAL wounded in action. Immediately, Petty Officer Monsoor, with complete disregard for his own safety, exposed himself to heavy enemy fire in order to provide suppressive fire and fight his way to the wounded SEAL's position. He continued to provide effective suppressive fire while simultaneously dragging the wounded SEAL to safety. Petty Officer Monsoor maintained suppressive fire as the wounded SEAL received tactical casualty treatment to his leg. He also helped load his wounded teammate into a High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle for evacuation, then returned to combat. By his bold initiative, undaunted courage, and complete dedication to duty, Petty Officer Monsoor reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.[13]

Michael A. Monsoor

Bronze Star citation

For heroic achievement in connection with combat operations against the enemy as Task Unit Ramadi, Iraq, Combat Advisor for Naval Special Warfare Task Group – Arabian Peninsula in Support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM from April to September 2006. On 11 different operations, Petty Officer Monsoor exposed himself to heavy enemy fire while shielding his teammates with suppressive fire. He aggressively stabilized each chaotic situation with focused determination and uncanny tactical awareness. Each time insurgents assaulted his team with small arms fire or rocket propelled grenades, he quickly assessed the situation, determined the best course of action to counter the enemy assaults, and implemented his plan to gain the best tactical advantage. His selfless, decisive, heroic actions resulted in 25 enemy killed and saved the lives of his teammates, other Coalition Forces and Iraqi Army soldiers. By his extraordinary guidance, zealous initiative, and total dedication to duty, Petty Officer Monsoor reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.[14]

Britain
UK Media: Churchill Was ‘Fascinated' With Islam, May Have Been a Muslim
[PJ] The UK’s Express reports: "Winston Churchill was fascinated by the Islamic faith and some of his family believed he might have even converted to the religion after his time in India with the British Army, an uncovered letter reveals."

This is yet another manifestation of the seemingly endless capacity of Western political and media elites for self-flagellation and self-hatred. This Islamization of Churchill is also another example of what we can call the "Jefferson’s Qur’an Tactic": To promote Islam, claim that public figures who had any interest in Islam for any reason -- even if they publicly expressed negative views of the religion -- were actually enthralled by Islam, and may even have been secret converts.

The evidence for Churchill’s "fascination" and possible conversion comes from an August 1907 letter to Churchill from his future sister-in-law, Lady Gwendoline Bertie. She exhorted him: "Please don’t become converted to Islam. I have noticed in your disposition a tendency to orientalise Pasha-like tendencies, I really have. If you come into contact with Islam your conversion might be effected with greater ease than you might have supposed, call of the blood, don’t you know what I mean, do fight against it."

#1  Well beyond rubbish. Follows is but one example of Churchill's observations:

Churchill's 'The River War.'

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property—either as a child, a wife, or a concubine—must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Doesn't sound like he was on the way to conversion.

His aversion spilled over into his later writing, The Second World War.

#16  Ancient Alien theorists assert in Season 10, Episode 4, titled Dark Forces that Churchill was a Druid and that he consulted with Allistair Crowley, supposedly the wickedest man in the world, during WWII on how to defeat Hitler.

This picture purports to show:

Young Winston Churchill arrives for his Druid initiation ceremony. Was Churchill taught the true, occult meaning of the fiery and destructive "V" hand sign that he later made so famous it became used around the world? (Photo: from the book, The Druids, by Peter Berresford Ellis)

The only reference I've ever seen regarding Churchill's feelings toward Islam is what Besoeker cites from The River War. But I must have obtained an abridged version of that book because I read the whole thing and could not find the cited quote. Maybe that's what I get for buying it from Barnes & Noble.

OTOH, there is a great deal of evidence that Hitler was at least sympathetic to Islam and some of its practitioners. But I think Hitler was only capable of worshiping himself.

#19  Yes, B, I'm fairly certain the version I read was pretty severely edited by another publisher, Konecky & Konecky. As I said, that's what I get for buying it from Barnes & Noble. The only version of Their Finest Hour I could get from them was a cheap paperback with text so small and faint I could barely read it. I'm reluctant to do business with Amazon because Bezos and WAPO and good old fashioned brick and mortar bookstores seem to have gone out of fashion.

#20  The above-quoted passage did appear in The River War when it was first published as a two-volume set in 1899, but the selection was removed when the book was condensed into one volume and republished in 1902. While the one-volume abridged edition of The River War is still readily available, as of January 2015 the original two-volume 1899 version is much harder to find, a condition which may have led to confusion about the origins of the quote in question. However, the Churchill Centre has confirmed these words were indeed written by Winston Churchill.
Snopes. Sorry.

#21  In 1902 Churchill had become a member of parliament. It was thought that the commentary about some of the people mentioned had better be excised in a revised edition. The book was thus edited down to one single volume, removing approximately one third of the total.

Much of the removed content included passages where Churchill recounted his own experiences, as he had done in other works, such as The Story of the Malakand Field Force. This removal gave the revised book a somewhat different feel to these others, and to its original form. Other removals included discussions on the ethics of warfare, Churchill's own opinions of events, and his assessment on Islam. The revised book was described as an authoritative history of the war.[2]:133

Abridgements were published numerous times over the twentieth century, with increasing excisions.

A "definitive" new edition of the book, restoring it to the original two-volume text, edited and annotated by Professor James W. Muller is in preparation.

#22  The more I read about Churchill, the more I wish I knew the man personally. His story of captivity and escape from the 'State Model School' in Pretoria (now a library and museum, free to visit) during the British invasion of South Africa is legendary.

#23  Muller's super-duper neato-keen reproduction of the original edition has been in production for at least ten years now, maybe longer.

About three years ago I read that Muller had the final galleys and printing would begin within six months. And...nothing.

Occasional Cortex: Therefore Japan Goes Nuclear
[AmericanThinker] Russia’s annexation of Crimea had its origin in Victoria Nuland and her ilk in the State Department. Nuland brought regime change to Ukraine and Putin’s reaction was in effect that if there were to be no rules, he would do what he wanted -- which was to take back Crimea. Crimea had been part of Russia from 1783 but Nikita Khrushchev gave it to Ukraine in 1954 to make the map of the Soviet Union look neater. That is an example of unintended consequences if you don’t view the effects of your actions from the perspectives of all the players. Nuland rolled the dice and Ukraine lost Crimea.

By the way, the Crimeans are happier to be part of Russia again. Ukraine is dirt poor with a GDP per capita of $2,000 per annum due to corruption. It is the Bolivia of Europe. Russia is just as corrupt but has 11 million barrels per day of oil production to share around.

So it is also easy enough to predict that many governments around the world will be viewing the Democratic Party’s lurch to the far left with alarm. Suddenly all the treaties and expectations that have kept the world safe could be null and void, chief of which is mutually assured destruction. A lot of countries didn’t develop nuclear weapons in the 1960s and 1970s because they were assured that a nuclear attack on their territory would result in a nuclear attack on the aggressor by the United States.

...So you can imagine the alarm around the world at what the Democratic presidential primaries might result with. The likes of Sandy Ocasio-Cortes and Beto O’Rourke literally know nothing, to borrow a phrase from Ben Rhodes. No foreign country would even bother asking a President Ocasio-Cortes or President O’Rourke for reassurance on the nuclear shield. Because however they felt one day, the answer might be different the following day.

If not from 2020, there will not be a President Trump from 2024. One can’t make nuclear weapons overnight so some countries will be dusting off their plans now, starting with Japan.

Hillsdale College President Larry Arnn: ‘Elite Universities' Are ‘Ultimate Sources' of Political Correctness
[Breitbart] Hillsdale College President Larry Arnn told Breitbart News Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow during a Sirius XM Breitbart News Daily interview Wednesday that "elite universities" are the "ultimate sources" of politically correct dogma.

Arnn began by explaining his school’s pedagogical approach.

"When you’re 17 years old, when you’re deciding where to go to college, you’re probably too young to make up your mind whether you’re a liberal or conservative. You need to learn some things. Kids sometimes say to me, ’I want to get into your college. I’m a conservative.’ I always say, ’What’s that?’ and then they stumble, you know?"

Arnn added, "The first part of education is learning what fundamental things mean. That’s what the great books are about. That’s what natural science is about. And so you make them strong by letting them do the work to learn, and then they can figure out what they are."

Arnn shared an exchange with Rush Limbaugh regarding the politics of Hillsdale College’s students and alumni.

"But Rush Limbaugh said to me one time, ’How do you make them conservative?'" recalled Arnn. "And I said, ’I don’t,’ and he said, ’You don’t?’ and I said, ’No, you can’t do that. If they’re worth much, you can’t make them into anything.’ But he said, ’Are they conservative?’ and I said, ’Yeah, a great majority,’ and he said, ’Why?’ and I said, ’Well, if you find value in an old book, you’ve undercut the principles of modern liberalism already.'"

Arnn added, "Just remember, the way they make them liberal is they spoil them to death. They tell them, ’Your opinion is the sovereign thing in the universe, and you can be anything you want to be: an aardvark or a gazelle,’ so they don’t learn much."

Political agitation campaigns across college and university campuses reveal post-secondary institutions’ failures in cultivating critical thinking and epistemological rigor in students, said Arnn.

Larry Correia: To The Book Community.
[MonsterHunterNation] First off, to know what I’m talking about, read this: https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/amelie-wen-zhao-learns-to-love-big-brother/?fbclid=IwAR0i1oKfiJuO2RErEnwam0kFcgddzSaFLN8hiErGvcSlYOnKFZLR_tOhtrw

Basically an internet lynch mob of Social Justice Warriors hounded an author into not publishing her book. They brow beat her. They shamed her into compliance. And now she has pulled her book, apologized even though she’s done nothing wrong, and begged forgiveness.

Seriously, read those excerpts from her blog, where she talked about her hopes, and dreams, and artistic vision... And then read about how they all got crushed in the name of Social Justice.

As an author, this makes me want to vomit. This nefarious shit is why I’ve been loud and incessant about this topic for the last decade.

So now here is my letter to the "Book Community".

Language warning

To the Book Community: Go fuck yourself.

You people aren’t a "community". You are a fucking cancer.

People who like to read books? That’s a book community. Bullies who exist in a perpetual state of being offended, eager to silence artists, you’re scum.

If you had an ounce of self-awareness, you would be ashamed of yourself. But you don’t. So instead you pat yourself on the back for ruining yet another artist’s career, for silencing another voice, for crushing more dreams.

Fuck you. Fuck your feelings. And fuck your ridiculous claims. Fuck your perpetual offense. Take your smug, entitled ignorance, and cram it up your ass sideways, you worthless sacks of crap. You goose stepping morons should try reading books instead of burning them.

People wonder why I often fisk the bad social justice writing advice articles from places like the HuffPo or Tor. Those articles are always Don’t Do This and Don’t Do That and Write The Way We Tell You Or Else. They’re all fucking bullshit. They are maggots feasting on the dinosaur carcass of mainstream publishing.

I fisk those bad advice articles because if I can save a single young aspiring author from falling into your wretched, soul crushing trap, it was totally worth it. My goal is to expose your con, to show that your gate keepers are nutless humps, and that your Outrage Of The Day is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing. Thankfully lots of people have caught on. They’ve learned that bullies only have power over you when you allow them to.

Sadly, it looks like Zhao never caught on, and she let you assholes ruin her dreams.

You create nothing. You can only destroy. You are miserable failures, and like the demons of CS Lewis, your misery makes you want to drag down everyone else too. You give one star reviews to books which haven’t come out yet, which tell us a lot more about your weird personal issues and neurosis than they do about the book you’re supposedly reviewing.

You get away with this abusive shit only because most artists are sensitive, caring types. They don’t want to offend people. They don’t want to hurt feelings. Only you lie to them. Manipulate and use them. You don’t care about their art. You don’t care about entertaining people. You don’t care about kids reading or people enjoying themselves or even the group you’re supposedly championing today.

You only care about control.

That’s why your rules are so illogical. You want‐no, need‐people to break them. Your rules are nonsense gibberish that changes day by day. That way even when people try to placate you, it doesn’t matter, because you just find something else to be offended by instead.

Fuck you, you goddamned communist puritans. The sooner society realizes SJWs are a suicidal dead end like unto the hippies, and everyone starts laughing at your childish tantrums, the better.

Sincerely,

Larry Correia ‐ bestselling novelist who actually makes a good living at this business, unlike you useless parasites.

P.S ‐ Go back to Goodreads and give me another one star review, you fucking mopes. Each time you do I sell more books to actual decent human beings who are sick of your shit.

Feelings and Facts
[AccordingtoHoyt] Look, there are two worlds as far as each of us is concerned: the world behind our eyes, and the world outside.

What I mean to say is this: you as a person feel, think and believe all sorts of things.

No one outside that space behind your eyes has to believe you.

...Beyond that, particularly if you’ve been indoctrinated or are young and stupid enough to believe the media wholesale, you’ll put bizarre interpretations on things. Which is how we get someone being offended by a picture of coal miners and deciding this meant people of color weren’t welcome at the restaurant.

...You see, most babies realize there’s a difference between the world behind the eyes and the world outside by I think around six months. They see the difference between me-not me. I.e. you can move your foot, but you can’t move the mobile over the crib, unless you kick it with your foot.

But we have raised generations of kids by telling them their feelings are important, and yes, that disagreement or argument is "threatening." So they’ve lost that distinction.

I can no longer find it, but one of the private conferences I frequent, had a video of a woman telling a guy wearing a MAGA hat is racist because she FEELS it is and feelings are real.

[Does sinal salute.] Of course feelings are real. A friend who is a psychiatrist keeps telling me I need to own and investigate my feelings, because they are real.

But they are real TO ME in the space behind my eyes. For instance, if I hear Green Acres I feel all unsettled. When Lisbon TV stations were taken over in a revolution (oh, you don’t want to know) or attempted coup, the Porto station got cut off. And all they could even play between occasional news updates were some old reels of Green Acres. Coming into the house at lunch time and hearing that music was a BAD sign.

Does that mean that Green Acres must mean revolution and unsettled times to anyone else? No. And yet my feeling is REAL. Sure it is, and the mature response to it is to go "Long ago and far away" and wander off while the kids watch it. Even if the conditioned feeling never fully goes away.

...Because here is the thing, if you have to listen to everyone’s "feelings" and every single person’s feelings are as real as facts, we will all need to isolate ourselves from everyone else. I mean, Vegans feel meat is murder. Are they entitled to execute everyone else? I feel very strongly that Marxism needs to be rooted out. I’m totes entitled to hold brain-washing sessions on everyone, and kill Occasional Cortex before she infects more people, right? And I feel loons who assume MAGA hats are really really racist (even though there’s no FACTS to back this up other than their feelings) need to shut their whiny mouths or be given whatfor. So, if I wear a MAGA hat, which of us wins? Care to place bets?

...What people can and should do is challenge the mismatch between feelings and facts. Ones can’t be imposed on others, and the others impose themselves on all of us. Because reality is still what it is.

To think otherwise, to think that your feelings should dictate how everyone acts is a form of solipsism, where you think you’re the only real person ever. Because if that’s not true, you will be able to realize you’ll run into other’s feelings, that contradict yours.

What this stupid idea is, really, is bad-crazy. That which unmakes civilization.

#1  Saw the video in question this morning. The guy in the MAGA hat has a great response about how emotions are fleeting and they change, facts don't.

The LGBT Community Has Become Its Own Worst Enemy
h/t Red State
As a person who ticks a couple letters off the LGBT acronym, it’s time to say it plainly and clearly: the biggest threat in regards to my widespread acceptance as a gay trans person is none other than the activists within this "community" that I’ve been forcefully grouped into.

Whether it’s the creation of infinite genders, the sickening promotion of child drag queens, or the overly long LGBTQQIAAP acronym that makes more sense if you imagine I just had a muscle spasm over my keyboard while typing LGBT, there is no longer any denying, the ridiculousness of mainstream queer ’activists’ is doing more harm than good.

There is only so much that people are willing to put up with, sooner than later something is going to snap, and the progress LGBT individuals have attained is going to slide backwards.

Because here is the truth; gay people are a minority, and to attain the equal rights we deserve as humans, we need straight allies to aid us with influencing governments into doing what is right. Allies that will only understandably drop like flies as gross behaviors such as the aforementioned child drag queens become normalized, or as the gay community begins to freak out at people over nothing.

#4  Alvin Lee/Ten Years After:
"Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more?

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you"

#5  I don't have any respect for anyone who wants the gummint to make me validate their choices. If it's such a good choice they have made, what does my opinion or lack thereof have to do with it.

Yeah, yeah, I know the answer some feel a need to give to that question...

#6  gay people are a minority

There's a difference between tolerance and submission. The radicals long ago cross the line between the two. 3 to 6 percent of the population have no inherit right to dictate to the vast majority of the population what their culture and society can or can not be.

#7  Personally I think the LGB community blew it when they included T and the letters that followed which mostly undermine gender which is the basis for LGB in the first place.
