Hunter Biden asks judge to STOP his estranged daughter, 4, born to Arkansas stripper from taking his surname by claiming doing so would rob youngster of 'peaceful existence'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Hunter Biden made the request on January 6 after the child's mother Lunden Roberts filed to have 4-year-old Navy's last name changed to Biden

  • Roberts, 31, said the Biden name is 'synonymous with being successful', but Hunter claims it will cause the little girl serious problems

  • The petition was filed after Hunter asked for child support payment adjustments

  • The Biden family, including Hunter, reportedly never met Navy, who was born in August 2018 to Roberts, a stripper at a club that Hunter used to frequent

Waco: David Koresh, the Branch Davidians, and A Legacy of Rage
[B&N] The definitive account of the disastrous siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, featuring never-before-seen documents, photographs, and interviews, from former investigative reporter Jeff Guinn, bestselling author of Manson and The Road to Jonestown.
HooBoy. Jeff Guinn is one of my favorite historians. If anyone can get this story right, I'm hoping it's him.
For the first time in thirty years, more than a dozen former ATF agents who participated in the initial February 28, 1993, raid speak on the record about the poor decisions of their commanders that led to this deadly confrontation. Revelations in this book include why the FBI chose to end the siege with the use of CS gas; how both ATF and FBI officials tried and failed to cover up their agencies’ mistakes; where David Koresh plagiarized his infamous prophecies; and direct links between the Branch Davidian tragedy and the modern militia movement in America. Notorious conspiracist Alex Jones is a part of the Waco story. So much is new, and stunning.

Guinn puts you alongside the ATF agents as they embarked on the disastrous initial assault, unaware that the Davidians knew they were coming and were armed and prepared to resist. Drawing on this new information, including several eyewitness accounts, Guinn again does what he did with his bestselling books about Charles Manson and Jim Jones, shedding new light on a story that we thought we knew.

As is now known. The ATF & FBI claimed reasons for the raid were false, and the Fed's could have arrested DK and other Branch Davidian leaders many times in Waco prior to the raid.

Important Side Note:
The HRT detachments, quickly left when it became clear it was going to be a FBI / ATF Mega FOOBAR.

Many suspected it was hyped to deflect from a certain President's legal issues being heard in congress.

#2  And two years later to the day, in a complete coincidence, the federal headquarters where the raid was coordinated and controlled was blown up.

Better never mention the connection between the two. All you need to know that a dirty, no-good domestic right-wing terrorist did it and that he was wrong to administer justice to a murderously out of control government.

Florida man arrested for child pornography receives nearly 1,200 additional charges
[FoxNews] A Florida man who last month was charged with possession of child pornography is now facing nearly 1,200 more charges after detectives discovered he had a large amount of child pornography.

Johnathan Jhovanni Hernandez, 23, was arrested on Dec. 29 on two counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of transmitting child pornography and one count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office said. After a months-long investigation, his arrest came when officials received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

The sheriff's office now says Hernandez is facing an additional 1,182 counts of possession of child pornography. He is also charged with four counts of possession of Beastiality images under a new law that went into effect in October.

Micro-preemie born 'on the edge of viability' in Texas celebrates 1st birthday: 'Quite the survivor'
I'd rather research UFOs
[FoxNews] Baby Amandi spent 155 days in a NICU in Austin, Texas, after his twin brother died in utero.

The family of a micro-preemie who weighed just 1 pound, 5 ounces at birth celebrated the child's one-year birthday on Jan. 10 after the little boy spent 155 stays in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) — defying all odds.

"He was under a pound-and-a-half and 23 weeks and two days," Samantha Smith, a neonatal nurse practitioner at Pediatrix Neonatology of Texas and Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, told Fox News Digital.

"So he was kind of on the edge of viability, which is about 22 weeks," she said.

Las Vegas student found unresponsive after gym class, school officials say
[FoxNews] A second Las Vegas student died last week after collapsing and being found unresponsive in a school bathroom.

Jordan Brister, 18, "experienced cardiac arrest" while at Amplus Academy on Jan. 3, according to a statement from the school. Brister's parents later also confirmed his death.

The school released a statement saying that staff had "provided Jordan with emergency medical attention until paramedics arrived and transported him to Southern Hills Hospital. . . . Despite the efforts of first responders and the medical team at the hospital, Jordan passed away this past Sunday."

Savanna Brister, Jordan’s mother, provided a statement to FOX 5 Vegas:

"Jordan was a selfless, respectful, Southern gentleman who was kind to everyone. He was witty and charming. He wanted to join the military to become a para rescue jumper to save others. In the end, he saved others through donation of organs, so his dream was somewhat fulfilled. He was a wise, older brother who cared deeply for his brother and sister. Jordan was truly everything you could ask for and more. He had a heart of gold."

The Clark County Coroner’s Office said the exact cause of Brister’s death remains under investigation.

Brister is one of two Clark County students who died last week.

In an unrelated situation, another teenager was found unresponsive at a Las Vegas high school on January 5. Ashari Hughes, 16, collapsed at Desert Oasis High School after going to the bench due to chest problems.

She was given CPR by a nurse in the stands. A defibrillator was also used to regain a heartbeat, but she died while arriving at the hospital.

Africa Subsaharan
Uganda Cuts Chinese Firm from Railroad Deal in Rare Belt and Road Rejection
[Breitbart] The government of Uganda on Thursday terminated a Chinese company’s contract to build a major railroad to Kenya and is now considering a replacement deal with a Turkish firm.

Uganda booted the Chinese contractor because China was not willing to loan Uganda the money needed to complete the project.

Uganda signed a deal with the China Harbor and Engineering Company (CHEC) in 2015 to build the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), a massive project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) that would span Kenya and Uganda. The SGR is among the largest infrastructure projects contemplated by either country in the post-colonial era.

The Kenya side of the project has been very controversial, dogged by questions about cost overruns, poor treatment of Kenyan workers by Chinese corporations, and if the railroad can ever generate enough income to pay off the huge Chinese loans that financed it.

A fresh storm of controversy broke out in Kenya in November when long-secret contracts were finally exposed to the public in a bid to dispel rumors that Kenya staked its precious port of Mombasa as collateral for more loans from Chinese banks. The documents seem to have allayed fears that the port is at risk, but they raised many more questions about financing terms that lopsidedly favored China, and they made it clear the Kenyan government has not been honest with its citizens about the SGR project.

A senior Ugandan official told Reuters on Friday that China has not come through with the loans Uganda needs to complete its SGR railway.

“One of the obligations under the contract with the Chinese was that they were supposed to help Uganda source financing which has really not come true,” the Ugandan official said.

“So now the discussions are with Yapi Merkezi which has shown interest,” the official continued. “There’s no contract with them yet, but there’s an MoU [Memorandum of Understanding] and things are moving fast.”

Yapi Merkezi is a Turkish construction firm that has experience building standard-gauge railways in Africa. The company signed a $1.9 billion contract in December 2021 to build the third phase of a major railway in Tanzania. The railway was designed to link up with Kenya’s SGR, so the specifications for the rails are identical. According to Reuters’ source, Uganda turned to Yapi Merkezi because it was impressed with the work it completed in Tanzania.

Ugandan project coordinator Perez Wamburu told Bloomberg News on Thursday the Chinese contract was canceled because “things weren’t working out.”

Uganda spent eight years trying to secure funding from China for the railroad, but Chinese bankers were apparently hesitant to provide funding because India’s side of the rail link to Uganda might not reach any seaports in the near future. Connecting the railroad to a seaport is the only way to make it economically viable.

Wamburu also said China grew more nervous about pumping huge sums into overseas projects after the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic.

“We read between the lines when China’s Ambassador to Uganda said that after the Covid-19 pandemic, China has become more cautious about financing big infrastructure projects in Africa. We all know that Covid didn’t leave economies of the world the same,” he told TRT World on Friday.

According to Wamburu, the Chinese Export-Import Bank has not even responded to Uganda’s requests for financing in almost a year.

If Uganda goes with Yapi Merkezi instead, the Turkish company would build Uganda’s SGR along a different route that connects it to the promising Yapi Merkezi rail project in Tanzania instead of Kenya. Wamburu said Uganda would finance this alternative route with “syndicated loans from lenders such as export credit agencies” instead of China’s mega-banks.

Brazil Top Court to Investigate Bolsonaro Role in Brasilia Riots
They sure like rioting down in Brazil.
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.LB] Brazil’s Supreme Court is set to investigate the ultra-right-wing former president Jair Bolsonaro over riots and looting of government buildings in Brasilia this week.

In a decision late Friday, the court approved a request from the office of the prosecutor general to include Bolsonaro in a rapidly expanding investigation into the anti-democratic riots on January 8.

By doing so, "Bolsonaro would have publicly incited the commission of a crime," the prosecutor general said in a statement, accusing the former president of "instigation and intellectual authorship" of the riots.

The development came after Bolsonaro’s rioting supporters ransacked the presidential palace, the Supreme Court, and the Congress. Bolsonaro’s video went viral two days after the violent mostly peaceful attack but was later removed.

Bolsonaro has denied any involvement in the riots. In a memo published on Friday, Bolsonaro stated that he "had no relationship or participation in these movements", blaming infiltrators for the incidents.

For years, Bolsonaro has sought to cast doubt on the credibility of Brazil’s electoral system. He never confirmed the victory of the new president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and left for the United States two days before the inauguration of his successor.

Brazilian authorities are seeking to identify the criminal masterminds and financiers of the violent mostly peaceful riots that have many similarities to the January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol.

Anderson Torres, who was Bolsonaro’s last justice minister, is wanted by the Supreme Court on charges of "collusion" with the rioters.

He is also accused of "inaction" in his last job as head of security in the capital Brasilia, which was the target of the destructive anger of the protesters.

China-Japan-Koreas
China's Geographic Weakness is Water
[YouTube] China has two massive geographical problems.

The lack of sufficient water reserves, and the increasing pollution of the existing ones.
And the use of excessive fly ash in the Three Gorges Dam — and no doubt others.
This creates a huge strategic weakness, that if left unchecked can become an existential threat in the future. Luckily China is adopting measure to address these issues. In particular it has been focusing on the construction of new reserves and in the reduction of pollution. This last one sees China as one the few country that uses Internal waterways as a transportation method that produces fewer greenhouse gasses emissions than road transport. This makes China a potential model for other countries with similar geographic conditions.

State Media: Kevin McCarthy Lighting ‘Evil Fire' with China Committee
[Breitbart] China’s state-run Global Times on Thursday unloaded a pair of hit pieces on the new Republican Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

The Chinese propagandists were incensed that McCarthy’s caucus dared to establish a select committee to investigate the “multifaceted threats” from China.

“Chinese experts said on Wednesday that the new panel, which is called House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the U.S. and the Communist Party of China, has a strong ideological overtone, and China should be wary of the more aggressive adventurism and destructive behavior of American politicians,” the Global Times railed.

The Global Times suggested President Joe Biden could curry some favor with Beijing by “managing [the] Republican-created crisis” and resisting any urge to “race in[to] the anti-China competition with the extreme Republicans.”

For all of its crude efforts to paint the select committee as a partisan Republican gambit to exploit Sinophobia for partisan gain, the Global Times was forced to admit the vote in favor of creating the committee was a lopsided 365-65, with most Democrats voting yes. The committee will include nine Republicans and seven Democrats.

“Chinese experts said the committee may be endowed with the ability to raise the voice of anti-China public opinion, and may even send its members to visit Taiwan for provocation, and conspire with forces secretly engaged in subverting the Chinese government to undermine the Chinese political system,” the Global Times hyperventilated.

To their credit, the Chinese propagandists made it roughly halfway through the first article before they began harping on the similarities between Speaker McCarthy’s last name and that of Senator Joe McCarthy.

The second overheated Global Times piece on the House China committee on Thursday led with that, right in the headline: “The Fire McCarthy Set Is Like McCarthyism Reincarnated.” This was accompanied by a crude cartoon of Kevin McCarthy thumbing through a book titled “MCCARTHYISM, by Joe McCarthy,” in case any of the slower readers in the Global Times’ audience missed the point.

This second screed accused McCarthy of taking out his frustrations on poor, innocent China after experiencing “the humiliation and setback of a ‘once-in-a-century’ multiple rounds of elections for the House speakership.”

“The evil fire he ignited is likely to flourish, but the intent of putting up a stunt is evident,” the editors sputtered.

The Global Times fretted that the new House committee will “magnify small matters and seek every opportunity to create noise in China-U.S. relations” to draw attention to itself – and that would make Kevin McCarthy just like old Tailgunner Joe:

Just look at McCarthy’s remarks at the House: “One of my greatest worries about the future is that we fall behind Communist China.” “The danger posed by our dependence on China is dire.” “China has exported oppression, aggression, and anti-Americanism.” Is there a sense of space-time confusion?

If we change just a few words, this lurid speech could serve as a political speech for the late “McCarthy,” the more infamous Joseph McCarthy. About 70 years ago, in early 1953, he became chairman of the Permanent Investigations Subcommittee of the Senate Government Operations Committee. He ascended to the pinnacle of power and also pushed the Red Scare of “McCarthyism” to the extreme. But after a few years, he died amid the scolding from the public, losing all standing and reputation.

The name “McCarthy” represents a segment of Washington’s ugly history, a sinister wind of the Cold War, and a product of occasional outbreaks of the malady of the American system. Across 70 years, the US has gone from one “McCarthy” to another.

All of this bloviating suggests the Global Times editors do not know much about Joe McCarthy except that he did not like communists and he was a bad man. He fits neatly into the Chinese Communist Party’s endlessly repeated talking point that all suspicion of Beijing’s behavior and agenda emanates from sinister Americans eager to launch a “new Cold War.”

“The U.S. public opinion rarely links the two ‘McCarthys.’ Is this deliberate evasion, or indifference and amnesia of history?” the Global Times wondered, ignoring the third possibility that it is too dumb of a talking point for even the current state of American political discourse.

The Global Times was too enraptured by the McCarthy name coincidence to spend much time on the actual chairman of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), aside from briefly dismissing him as “well-known for his anti-China stance.”

China will surely get around to unloading on Gallagher because he is the real threat to the Chinese Communist Party’s interests. He said on Tuesday he was “very excited” to see the vote in favor of establishing his committee was “overwhelmingly bipartisan.”

“I do think, to the extent possible, if Congress can speak with a unified voice on this issue and if, to the extent possible, politics can stop at the water’s edge, our foreign policy is stronger for it,” Gallagher said.

“There were brutal, meaningful differences and disagreements between the parties and within the parties in the first decade of the old Cold War – but by and large, we were able to build out a foundation for containment that served us well over the course of the next four decades,” Gallagher said last week, dropping the kind of sound bite that could give Chinese Communist editorialists a stroke.

The Global Times might be focused on McCarthy at the moment because it wants to signal House Democrats they can expect plenty of support from Beijing if they turn Gallagher’s committee into a partisan circus. Some of them are chomping at the bit to do exactly that, as could be seen from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s coverage of the vote to establish the House Select committee:

Wisconsin Democratic U.S. Reps. Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore were among the Democrats who opposed the measure. Both members indicated to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel they were concerned the committee would be used for partisan politics, and Pocan in a statement accused the committee of being set up “to score political points.”

[…]

Earlier in the day, a number of Democrats raised concerns about whether the committee would foment anti-Asian hate while others questioned why the select committee was necessary when there are established committees that deal with China-related issues.

“This committee cannot be used to promote policies that result in the racial profiling of Asian Americans but should directly focus on specific concerns related to the government of the People’s Republic of China,” Judy Chou, a California Democrat and chair of the Asian Pacific American Caucus, said on the House floor.

Expect future Chinese editorials to combine Cold War and Joe McCarthy obsessions with plenty of contemporary cant about “racism” if the House committee conducts any serious investigations that lead to legislation or administrative action. Gallagher signaled last week that TikTok, the deeply compromised Chinese-owned social media platform, could be the first such investigation.

“I still think I can convince most Democrats that I’m right on TikTok and that we should ban TikTok,” Gallagher said.

[FOXNEWS] The U.S. Department of Energy on Friday announced a conditional loan of $700 million to an Australian mining company to pursue a proposed lithium project in Nevada, as the U.S. seeks domestic supplies for a key component in electric vehicle batteries.

Ioneer Ltd. has hoped to begin mining by 2026 in Esmerelda County. The company projects the site could produce enough lithium to support production of about 400,000 electric vehicles annually for decades; the government's announcement Friday pegged that figure at 370,000 vehicles annually.

The loan would be the latest project to demonstrate the Biden administration (aka the Wilmington comorra)
...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us...
's commitment to strengthen the nation's battery supply chain, electrify the transportation sector and cut reliance on fossil fuels and foreign supplies of raw materials, the Department of Energy said.

The proposed Ioneer project has run up against an endangered Nevada wildflower, Tiehm's buckwheat, that the Fish and Wildlife Service has said is on the brink of extinction. Conservationists have sued in the past to protect the 6-inch-tall plant with yellow blooms.

The Energy Department announcement said the Ioneer project is working to minimize impact on the plant. It said the loan is contingent on completion of an environmental impact statement.

The World Can’t Wean Itself Off Chinese Lithium

"It takes years to get a lithium processing plant or gigafactory off the ground, and it could take decades and an estimated $175 billion for the US to catch up to China. "

'What took you so long?' CNN and WaPo’s medical expert admits number of COVID deaths have been OVERCOUNTED and that many people died with virus, not of it
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Dr. Leana Wen says the number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 may be greater than the number of people actually dying from the virus

  • Experts say patients hospitalized with other illnesses may also test positive for COVID-19, but the virus may not have been a contributing factor to their death

  • Wen says the counting can lead to imprecise reporting making people more anxious or skeptical about the true impact of the virus

  • Research has been done to more accurately link severe illness due to COVID

  • Obtaining accurate figures has important implications for forecasting hospital capacity and assessing the effectiveness of vaccines

Pentagon considers back pay for troops discharged over now-repealed COVID vaccine mandate
[FoxNews] Former Vice President Mike Pence said on Wednesday that all service members discharged for refusing the mandate should get full back pay

After the coronavirus vaccine mandate was rescinded for members of the military this week, the Pentagon may consider back pay for troops who were discharged for refusing to get it.

"All Service members and Veterans may apply at any time to the appropriate Discharge Review Board or Board for Correction for Military/Naval Records if they believe that there is an error or injustice in their records-to include those that were separated by the vaccine mandate," Pentagon spokesperson Maj. Charlie Dietz told Fox News Digital in a statement Friday.

"Regarding back pay, the Department is still exploring this and will provide its views on legislation of this nature at the appropriate time and through the appropriate process," he added.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin officially repealed the pandemic-era policy on Tuesday after Congress included it in the annual defense spending bill in December.

Republican congress members are seeking to help discharged troops get reinstated or an honorable discharge.

Former Vice President Mike Pence called the mandate "unconscionable" in an interview with The Hill on Wednesday adding that he thinks all troops discharged for refusing the vaccine should get full back pay.

"I think now that Secretary Austin has implemented what Congress passed into law, lifting the vaccine mandate on members of our armed forces, now I’m calling on the Biden administration and the Pentagon to reinstate every man and woman that was discharged from our armed forces because they refused to take the vaccine, and give them 100 percent back pay for the time after they were discharged," he said.

Nearly 8,500 military members were discharged for refusing the COVID-19 vaccine while it was mandated but the vast majority, 96%, are vaccinated.

Israeli crime syndicate leader assassinated in Ramle
[Jpost] National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he will ask Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to mobilize the Shin Bet to fight crime syndicates.

Ali Jarushi, a leader of the Jarushi crime family and a major figure in the Israeli criminal underworld, was assassinated in Ramle overnight on Thursday, dying of gunshot wounds while hospitalized at Shamir Medical Center early Friday morning, Israeli media reported.

The hospital noted that the man was brought to the hospital in critical condition but passed away despite the medical teams' best efforts to stabilize him.

Police are currently increasing their presence in the area out of fear of possible violent reprisal attacks. The identity of the shooter or the motivation for the attack is currently unknown. However, according to KAN, police are aware that Ali Jarushi was part of a faction within the family that is embroiled in conflict with another family member, Zaid Jarushi, who was allegedly behind the assassination of his nephew Hatem Jarushi in Jerusalem. According to Haaretz, this feud within the family may have already resulted in several deaths.

ISRAEL'S ITAMAR BEN-GVIR VOWS TO FIGHT CRIME WITH SHIN BET
Around the same time, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said he planned on asking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for permission to mobilize the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) in order to take on Israel's crime syndicates – something that was included as part of the coalition deal between the Likud and Otzma Yehudit.

Ben-Gvir explained that while he appreciates the effort of the police, the Shin Bet will need to work alongside them.

"Mobilizing the Shin Bet cannot be avoided in order to tackle a phenomenon that is becoming a scourge," the minister said, noting that the Shin Bet can "gather more quality intelligence and use investigative authorities not granted to police."

WHO ARE ISRAEL'S NOTORIOUS JARUSHI CRIME FAMILY?
The Jarushi family is one of Israel's most dangerous and violent crime families, having waged a violent blood feud with a rival crime syndicate in 2021 as well as another violent war with the rival Qarajah family in the 1990s that required government intervention.

Based out of Ramle, the Jarushi is one of Israel's oldest, strongest and most stable crime syndicates, ranked alongside the Abu Latif and Hariri families as the leading Arab sector crime families.

Ali Jarushi in particular was a well-known underworld figure to the Israeli public, having featured on an episode of Channel 13's show True Face.

Notably, during that interview, Jarushi described how the decision is made for the crime organization to have someone murdered, stressing that "No one gets murdered for no reason" and that the decision is made by a "forum" of sorts, as recounted by Ynet.

The Jarushi family's main sources of income range from gambling, drug dealing, illegal arms trade, debt collection, "gray market" money loans and racketeering, according to a report in Jerusalem Mynet.

In addition, the Jarushi have also been known for their ties with the Likud Party, with a corruption probe in 2017 highlighting that one of their members, Hussam Jarushi, had allegedly helped cover the debts of then-coalition chairman Likud MK David Bitan. The probe also implied the involvement of Bitan's wife Hagit and then-Rishon Lezion mayor Dov Zur.

It is suspected that Bitan advanced the interests of organized crime figures, such as Hussam Jarushi, in exchange for assisting him in erasing alleged debts to the criminal entities.

Bitan was forced to resign as coalition chairman due to the incident, though he had insisted on refusing to answer police questioning and he still sits as an MK to this day.

However, Bitan was officially indicted in 2021 by then-attorney-general Avichai Mandelblit on charges of bribery, money laundering, fraud, breach of trust and tax offenses totaling NIS 715,000.

Congress blocks funding request for Microsoft headsets after testing concerns: report
[FoxNews] Congress reportedly shot down the U.S. Army's request for $400 million to purchase additional Microsoft mixed reality headsets, instead realigning funding to develop new models that will address issues with the current devices.

The military is getting around a tenth of that sum to go toward improving the system after concerns were raised over field tests of the goggles, which are based on Microsoft’s HoloLens technology, Bloomberg reported.

Tests using the devices disclosed "mission-affecting physical impairments," including headaches, eye strain and nausea, the outlet reported, citing a summary of an exercise by the Pentagon's testing office.

The $400 million request was included in the $1.75 trillion government funding bill, according to Bloomberg.

In a Jan. 5 release, the Army said it had awarded a task order to Microsoft to develop the 1.2 variant of headsets, or Integrated Visual Augmentation Systems.

The task order, it said, would provide improvements based on completed test events.

"The IVAS will provide soldiers with a single device to fight, rehearse and train by integrating next-generation situational awareness tools," the Army said. "To date, the Army has conducted over 30 soldier test events and more than 100 technical subtests, with more than 1,000 soldiers contributing nearly 100,000 hours of IVAS user feedback. These tests validated the system’s continued progress while identifying areas for focused improvements."

The updated version will include a new form factor to address Human Systems Integration, including physiological impacts identified during testing, as well as software improvements for increased reliability and reduced power demands.

Delivery orders for IVAS 1.2 production systems will be placed after qualification and operational testing.

According to Bloomberg, the Army awarded Microsoft around $125 million to develop the 1.2 variant, in addition to the tens of millions approved by Congress.

Microsoft said in a post that the headsets are part of a broader effort to modernize U.S. military operations.

In 2018, Microsoft won a $480 million contract from the Army to develop a mixed reality headset to "help soldiers train, rehearse and fight," with IVAS being developed under an agreement known as an Other Transaction Authority.

"The arrangement enabled IVAS to be developed in less than three years, much faster than a traditional project of its type," it said.
