#5 They had "High Intensity" infrared lamps on aircraft back in the Vietnam War. I knew a guy that was a "lens wiper" enlisted man whose job was to make sure the lens over the lamp was really clean because a thumbprint would cause it to burn out ...instead of frying the IR seeker heads.

#7 /\ The last US squadron of EA-6s was disbanded in 2019. They were 'replaced' by the EA-18 variant of the F-18. Be kind of overkill to 'glue' an EW aircraft as an anti-drone overwatch that may or not be needed ...and the carrier launching them might have other things to do.
