Five Migrants Drowned in Texas Border River in Three Days
[Breitbart] Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents recovered the bodies of at least five migrants who drowned in a three-day period while crossing the Rio Grande into Texas. This adds to the problem where a local funeral home had to stop taking the bodies of dead migrants due to overcrowding.

Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens tweeted a report revealing the recovery of three bodies in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass on Thursday. Breitbart Texas learned from a Border Patrol official not authorized to speak on the matter about two more bodies recovered on Friday and Saturday.

The recovery of these bodies followed an announcement by Memorial Funeral Home in Eagle Pass that they could no longer accept the recovered migrants’ bodies because of overcrowding, Breitbart Texas reported.

On Thursday morning, the funeral home carried out a mass burial of at least ten deceased migrants. The bodies were reportedly unidentified at the time.

Due to the funeral home’s change in policy, it is not clear where officials are taking the newly recovered drowning victims. One county official told Breitbart their options are very limited.

“The remaining funeral home in the area lacks adequate facilities to handle the flow of deceased migrants,” the county official said under the condition of anonymity.

The county is exploring options to procure a refrigerated truck or find an out-of-town funeral home capable of handling the high volume of decedents.

“Today’s burial of ten migrants did not do much to change the overall situation,” the county official stated. The official blamed the situation on the recent spike in the number of migrant deaths in the Rio Grande and on ranches where migrants are being smuggled.

During the spike in migrant crossings where Del Rio Sector agents apprehended 50,000 migrants in July alone, migrant deaths have also spiked. Border Patrol officials say that during some periods, the death rate hits at least one per day.

In March, Breitbart reported the drowning deaths of ten migrants during a two-week period. This report did not include the deaths of migrants from exposure to heat on Texas ranches.

Six more migrant bodies were recovered over Mother’s Day weekend and over the Memorial Day weekend, Del Rio Sector agents recovered the deaths of ten more migrants. Eight of these deaths occurred as drownings in the Rio Grande.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid stated that Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s supreme leader, has appointed a special military commander for Panjshir province

Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
front man Zabihullah Mujahid stated that Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, the group’s supreme leader, has appointed a special military commander for Panjshir province in northern Afghanistan and the Andarab district of Baghlan province.

According to the Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, who made the announcement on August 21 on Sunday, Mullah Abdul Qayyum Zakir has been appointed as the special military commander for the Panjshir province and Andarab of Baghlan.

Abdul Qayyum Zakir, who once served as the Taliban government’s Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Defense, is regarded as one of the top military commanders in the Taliban’s administration.

The Taliban have appointed a military commander for Panjshir and Andarab, where opposing factions of the group are active and in conflict with Taliban forces, most notably the National Resistance® Front (NRF) headed by Ahmad Massoud.

This comes as the spokesperson for the NRF has declared the capture of several Taliban fighters. The guerrilla attacks of this front have also escalated on Taliban outposts in Panjshir and Andrab of Baghlan, and the Taliban have sustained heavy casualties in these areas.

Somalia’s health minister confirms death toll from hotel attack
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[ShabelleMedia] Health Minister Dr. Ali Haji said 21 deaths and 117 people were maimed, with at least 15 at death's door as troops end the Hayat hotel attack by al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them...
Somali police chief Gen Abdi Hassan Mohammed Hijar on Sunday said they ended a deadly attack and 106 people were rescued, among them children.

It took Somali forces more than 30 hours to contain the fighters who had stormed Mogadishu’s Hayat Hotel on Friday evening in an assault that started with loud explosions.

"The siege ended around midnight," said Hijar while speaking to the news hounds near the hotel located at KM4 junction in the capital city.

Arabia
US Air Force targeted in ‘propaganda attack’ in Kuwait
[Rudaw] The U.S. Air Force said Saturday it was the subject of a "propaganda attack" by a previously unheard-of Iraqi murderous Moslem group that falsely claimed it had launched a drone attack targeting American troops at an air base in Kuwait.

The statement by the Air Force's 386th Air Expeditionary Wing came hours after the group calling itself al-Waretheen, or "The Inheritors," put out an online statement claiming that Aug. 12, it targeted Kuwait's Ali Al Salem Air Base. The statement included a video showing a drone being launched from a stand but offered no evidence of an attack or any damage done at the base.

The statement claimed the alleged attack aimed to avenge the U.S. dronezap that killed a prominent Iranian Revolution Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani
in Baghdad in January 2020.

The air base is located a few dozen kilometers (miles) from the Iraqi border.

"The misinformation falsely stated an Iranian militia group used (drones) to carry out an attack on base," the Air Force statement to The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said. "No such attack occurred."

The statement suggests the U.S. believes that al-Waretheen is likely an Iranian group, though it described itself as Iraqi.

The Air Force added that the online claim "only aims to deceive their audience in believing a lie" and that the Air Force and Kuwait "continue to project air power throughout the region without disruption."

Kuwait did not immediately acknowledge the claimed attack. Its Information Ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday night.

Kuwait’s al-Qabas newspaper, quoting anonymous "responsible" sources, called the claims about an attack "completely untrue."

Satellite photos from Planet Labs PBC analyzed by the AP since Aug. 12 show no apparent damage at the base.

Britain
UK Border Farce: Over 50 Migrants over 30 Years Old Registered as ‘Children’
[Breitbart] Over the past decade the British government has registered over 50 illegal migrants colonists over the age of 30 as children, according to a Freedom of Information request.

In an embarrassing revelation, Home Office figures show that border officials were either so inept or indifferent as to register 52 grown adults over the age of 30 years old as children over the last decade.

The Freedom of Information request from the Daily Telegraph also revealed that 2021 saw the highest number of alleged asylum seekers claiming to be children, a status which increases the odds of the government granting an asylum request. According to the figures, 1,500 people identified as adult migrants colonists claimed that they were children last year, compared to 364 in the year prior.

Many more may have slipped through the system unrecorded due to inadequate vetting.

Between 2012 and 2020, an average of 355 illegals claimed to be minors but were exposed as adults by age tests per year.

The massive upswing in 2021 correlates with the record number of illegal migrants colonists crossing the English Channel — 28,526 arrived last year, compared to 8,466 in 2020.

2022 is on pace to see at least 60,000 land, though some estimates suggest that as many as 100,000 illegals could reach British shores.

Earlier this year, Home Secretary Priti Patel vowed to toughen up checks on migrant arrivals to prevent fraudulent claims of being children. This will supposedly include X-ray exams to determine the age of migrants colonists by scanning their bones, as is done in the United States and in some European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
countries, but which the British authorities have resisted for years.

The state of border control was criticised as "inexcusably awful" and a threat to national security last month by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, David Neal, in a report that revealed that border officials are consistently failing to log biometric data such as fingerprints and even names for newly arrived boat migrants colonists

The report went on to say that the age of migrants colonists was being determined by officials simply holding up a piece of cardboard with the numbers 1 to 63 written on it and asking migrants colonists to point to their age.

Former Pakistan PM Khan charged under antiterrorism act after fiery speech
[TheHill] Former Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
was charged under Pakistain’s antiterrorism law on Sunday, after delivering a speech on Saturday threatening senior coppers and a judge, according to multiple reports.

The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
reported Khan, who was ousted in April through a no-confidence vote, railed during a rally in Islamabad against officials involved in the arrest of one of his top aides.

"We will not spare you," Khan said, per the Times.

The Islamabad Capital Police chairman said in a statement posted to Twitter that the department would take "legal action" against "all false allegations."

"Islamabad Police will continue its duties diligently," the statement read.

"Anyone making threats or allegations will be dealt with according to law," it continued. "Islamabad Police takes its work seriously for the people and the country."

Fawad Chaudhry, who served in Khan’s cabinet, tweeted multiple videos showing crowds of people gathering outside the former prime minister’s residence Sunday. Khan has reportedly not yet been arrested.

Earlier on Sunday, Khan on Twitter accused the Pak government of blocking YouTube in the country and banning live coverage of his speeches on television.

"This is not only a gross violation of freedom of speech but also negatively affects the digital media industry and the livelihoods of many," he tweeted.

Khan was ousted as prime minister in April, and Shehbaz Sharif, a member of the Pak Moslem League party, succeeded him. Khan has charged his opponents with colluding with the United States.

Plan under consideration to change AJK status: Fazl
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...a Pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution...
-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
...Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty...
has said that a plan is under consideration to change the status of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
and declare it as a separate province.

Addressing the party’s general council meeting here on Saturday, he said that JUI-F had opposed the plan and passed a resolution at the all parties conference not to change the existing status of Azad Kashmir.

"The plan about changing the status of Azad Kashmir is still under consideration, but JUI-F would insist not to change the position of Azad Kashmir," said Maulana Fazl.

The two-day general council meeting of JUI-F started in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
, in which over 900 members were participating. The council would discuss the prevailing political scenario, upcoming by-elections and the next general elections in the country.

About the prevailing situation in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, particularly the merged districts, the JUI-F chief said that armed people surfaced in the region when peace talks started. He said that unarmed civilians were confronting armed people in the region.

He said that his party believed in sustainable peace and was ready for playing a role in this regard, but at the same time the JUI-F leaders and workers also wanted their safety to be guaranteed. He said that his party was being punished for its role in supremacy of the Constitution.

Iraq
Parties in CF make counter-conditions for al-Sadr's debate
On August 20, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival al-Khoei assassinated shortly after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
, said he had made an "unanswered" appeal to the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
to organize a "public debate" between the opposing parties in Iraq, reiterating his rejection of a "secretive meetings" with "corrupts", "those who want to kill al-Sadr", or "harm the supporters of the Sadrist movement."

A member of al-Fatah parliamentary bloc, Mokhtar al-Mousawi, told Shafaq News Agency that holding the debate is contingent upon "uncovering the corrupt figures and providing solid evidence that proves their involvement in what al-Sadr accused them in his recent tweets."

Al-Mousawi, however, admitted that "these conditions render the situation more complicated."

"The only solution for the country's crisis is dialogue. The head of al-Fatah alliance, Hadi al-Ameri, is waiting for a meeting with the al-Sadr to be scheduled in order to lay down the foundations of a comprehensive dialogue that puts an end to the crisis," the politician added.

"Talks are underway to hold a parliamentary session in one of Baghdad's University halls in al-Jadriyah. The date is yet to be determined as things stand due to the political situation."

A member of the State of Law bloc, Thaer Makhif, dismissed "the ongoing political skirmishes" as "useless".

"In fact, it only complicates the situation and aggravates the political impasse," he said.

"The Coordination Framework has never talked the way al-Sadr talked. The Framework repeatedly called for including everyone in the process political process."

A source inside Ammar al-Hakim's State Forces Alliance hinted at a rejection inside the mainly Iran-backed Shiite consortium for the conditions al-Sadr has made for engaging in the dialogue.

Tensions in Iraq have escalated over the failure of political forces to agree on the formation of a government, 10 months after parliamentary elections.

Some of al-Sadr's followers stormed the parliament late last month and began a sit-in, first inside the building and then on its grounds where thousands remain.

Al-Sadr submitted a proposal to the UN to hold a public live-streamed dialogue session with the political parties. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
he said there was no tangible response.

The Sadrist movement did not attend the dialogue session called in by caretaker Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to find a solution for the ongoing political crisis.

The meeting was attended by President Barham Salih, Speaker Mohammad al-Halbousi, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council Faiq Zeidan, UN special representative Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, and other politicians.

Politicians both inside and outside Iraq have called for calm and dialogue between the parties as the only way to resolve the crisis amid fears that the country would slip into chaos.

Southeast Asia
Anger in Australia as Sentence Cut Means Jihadist Bali Bomber Could Be Free in Days
[Breitbart] Australia’s leader said Friday that it’s upsetting Indonesia has further reduced the prison sentence of the bombmaker in the Bali terror attack that killed 202 people — which could free him within days if he’s granted parole.

The most recent reduction of Umar Patek’s sentence takes his total reductions to almost two years and means Patek could be released on parole ahead of the 20th anniversary of the bombings in October.

"This will cause further distress to Australians who were the families of victims of the Bali bombings," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told Channel 9. "We lost 88 Australian lives in those bombings."

Indonesia often grants sentence reductions to prisoners on major holidays such as the nation’s Independence Day, which was Wednesday.

Patek received a 5-month reduction on Independence Day for good behavior and could walk free this month from Porong Prison in East Java province if he gets parole, said Zaeroji, who heads the provincial office for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

Zaeroji, who goes by a single name, said Patek had the same rights as other inmates and had fulfilled legal requirements to get sentence reductions. "While in the prison, he behaved very well and he regrets his radical past which has harmed society and the country and he has also vowed to be a good citizen," Zaeroji said.

Patek was arrested in Pakistain in 2011 and tried in Indonesia, where he was convicted in 2012. He was originally sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.

With his time served plus sentence reductions, he became eligible for parole on Aug. 14. The decision from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in Jakarta is still pending, Zaeroji said. If refused parole, he could remain locked away
You have the right to remain silent...
until 2029.

Patek was one of several men implicated in the attack, which was widely blamed on Jemaah Islamiyah, a Southeast Asian krazed killer group with ties to al-Qaeda. Most of those killed in the bombing on the resort island were foreign tourists.

Another conspirator, Ali Imron, was sentenced to life. Earlier this year, a third krazed killer, Aris Sumarsono, whose real name is Arif Sunarso but is better known as Zulkarnaen, was sentenced to 15 years following his capture in 2020 after 18 years on the run.

Bali bomber Umar Patek's release is being discussed. Here's what you need to know about that and his role in the attack

[MSN] Umar Patek — who was jailed for 20 years over his role in the 2002 Bali bombings — has been given a further five-month reduction to his sentence as part of Indonesia's Independence Day celebrations.

He was one of 16,659 prisoners in East Java who received a reduction in their prison terms.

Here's what we know.

Patek was accused of being the expert bombmaker for Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), a South-East Asian terror network linked to Al Qaeda.

Evidence in his 2012 trial suggested former Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden gave JI $30,000 to wage jihad and Patek might have met him in a Pakistani town, a claim Patek repeatedly denied.

He went into hiding after the bombings, being on the most-wanted terrorist list in several countries, with the US offering a $1 million bounty for his head.

Patek was eventually captured in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in 2011 and extradited to Indonesia.

On top of his conviction over the Bali bombings, he was also found guilty of weapons and conspiracy charges over a terrorist training camp in Aceh in 2009, and for mixing explosives for a series of Christmas Eve attacks on churches in 2000.

WHY WAS HIS SENTENCE REDUCED?
Indonesian authorities say he's been deradicalised. Patek reportedly told Indonesian newspaper JawaPos he was committed to assisting the Indonesian government in deradicalisation programs.

"Because, so far, I think radicalism still exists," he said.

"It can exist anywhere, in any region or country. Because the roots are still there."

He said he had been active for the past eight years in deradicalisation programs organised by prisons, Indonesia's National Counter Terrorism Agency and other institutions.

In 2015, Major General Agus Surya Bakti — who led the Indonesia's deradicalisation efforts through its anti-terrorism agency — spoke of Patek's success in the program.

"It's an extraordinary thing," he said.

Zaeroji — the head of Ministry of Law and Human Rights' provincial office — said the deradicalisation program at the Surabaya prison where Patek was serving his sentence was considered successful.

"Now there are seven terrorism convicts in the Surabaya prison, and all of them have declared their loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia," said Zaeroji, who goes by a single name.

WHAT WAS PATEK'S ROLE IN THE BOMBING?
Bombs went off at the Sari Club and Paddy's Bar in Kuta about 11pm on October 12, 2002.

Patek made some of the bombs used in the attack, with local media calling him "Demolition Man" during his trial. He admitted mixing as much as 50 kilograms of the explosives and packing them into filing cabinets used to carry the bomb to the Sari Club.

During his trial, Patek downplayed his role in the terror plot and argued that he didn't know how the bombs would be used.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT HIS SENTENCE?
Patek was convicted for premeditated murder. He was spared the death penalty because he cooperated with investigators and and apologised to the victims' families, eventually being sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The ABC understands he has been granted routine remissions in his sentence, which has brought his release date forward to 2029. Typically, with incremental reductions and good behaviour, prisoners can get parole after serving about two thirds of their sentence. He was due to become eligible for parole in January.

WHEN MIGHT HE WALK FREE?
There are reports he could be freed within days — but that's only if he is granted parole.

The ABC has been told that terrorists aren't usually eligible for parole.

And Indonesian authorities say no decision has been made on whether he will be released.

If he's not granted parole, he'll be in prison until 2029.

WHAT ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THE ATTACK?
In 2008, Imam Samudra, Amrozi, and Mukhlas were executed for their roles in the attack.

Abu Bakar Bashir — who was found guilty of conspiracy over the Bali bombings — was released from prison after 26 months in 2006 after his sentence was shortened.

He was given a 15-year jail sentence in 2011 for supporting militant training camps, but was released last year.

As former military commander of JI, Aris Sumarsono — better known as Zulkarnaen — was accused of masterminding the attacks. In January, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison on a string to terror charges, but was unable to be tried in relation to the Bali bombings because the statue of limitations had expired.

Iran's Kurdistan Democratic Parties reunite after 16 years of division

The Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
(KDPI) and the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) on Sunday reunited 16 years after their split.

A blurb issued earlier today said that the Secretaries-General of two parties, Mustafa Hijri and Khalid Azizi, signed an agreement to reunite under the name of the "Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran".

The two parties had failed to reunite in four attempts over the past ten years.

Syrian militants threaten to limit the movement of students from Idlib
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] Syrian militants threaten not to let students out of the Idlib zone to return to universities. This was stated on August 21 by the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, Major General Oleg Yegorov, reports TASS.

“The Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties receives appeals from residents of the Idlib de-escalation zone that, on the eve of the start of the new academic year, militants of illegal armed groups threaten to block the exit of students to the territory controlled by the authorities of the Syrian Arab Republic,” Yegorov said.

Yegorov recalled that the possibility of moving the civilian population across the borders of the de-escalation zone, including for the purpose of receiving education, is one of the points of the Astana agreements signed by the command of the armed Syrian opposition.

He also said that over the past day in the Idlib de-escalation zone, two shellings were recorded from the positions of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (an organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation). This happened in the province of Aleppo and the province of Latakia.
