American Library Association president says libraries, public schools need to be 'sites of socialist organizing'
Unacceptable.
[CAMPUSREFORM.ORG] The American Library Association (ALA) president said Sept. 2 at the Socialism 2023 Conference in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
that libraries and public schools need to be sites of socialist organizing.

Emily Drabinski
, who also is an associate professor at Queens College, got in line at the microphone and introduced herself as a librarian during the question-and-answer part of a session called "Freedom to Learn: Black And Asian American Solidarity Against Attacks on Antiracist Education," according to undercover journalist Karlyn Borysenko.

"I just want to say thank you for bringing up libraries and classroom libraries, but also school libraries of all kinds, public libraries and high educational libraries who have been under attack in similar ways," Drabinski said, according to an audio recording captured and posted by Borysenko.

"I think your point that public education needs to be a site of socialist organizing," Drabinski added. "I think libraries really do too ... I haven’t seen that working in libraries. But I think there’s real opportunity here to both connect with happening in public education, what’s happening in libraries, but also we need some help in the libraries. We need to be on the agenda of socialist organizing."

The panel’s presenters, Wayne Au and Jesse Hagopian, had discussed how to incorporate Critical Race Theory (CRT) into the classroom, calling it "runaway pedagogy," according to Borysenko.

Boryseko told Campus Reform she has watched several webinars where Drabinski skirts around the issue of calling libraries "a site of socialist organizing."

"She’s very smart about what she says publicly, and so to hear her to come right out and lay her agenda on the table is surprising, but not surprising within the context," Borysenko told Campus Reform.

"In that environment, she was surrounded by socialist activists," Borysenko told Campus Reform. "She was surrounded by her people, and she didn’t know she was being recorded. For her to say something like that in that type of environment makes complete sense because she thought she was going to have friends that weren’t going to release it to the media. But it was still pretty shocking to me to hear her so blatantly say that she does want libraries to be ’a site of socialist organizing.’"

Several state libraries in Montana, Texas, Missouri, a local library in Midland, Texas, and another local library in Campbell County, Wyoming, announced this summer that they have left the ALA, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named reported.

Lawmakers in at least nine other states — Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota and Wyoming — demand similar action, the AP reported.

Europe
Western political system doesn't bring smart people to the top – Putin
[RT] Russia sees absolutely no sense in the EU’s current policy of forgoing Russian energy supplies, particularly gas, President Vladimir Putin told the Russian Energy Week forum on Wednesday. He added that "the modern political system in [the West] obviously sometimes brings not the smartest people to the top."

Speaking about the issue of Russian gas exports to Europe, he pointed to what he called a lack of common sense in some European capitals.

"There is no sensible explanation to why some European economies, including Germany's, should behave like this," the president said, referring to the situation in the European energy market. He called it "surprising" that European nations did not demand that Kiev reopen one of the Russian gas pipelines going through Ukraine after it was shut down.

Ukraine halted Russian gas transit along one of the routes running through its territory back in May, arguing that it had lost control over one of the gas compressor stations. The station in question is located in the Lugansk People’s Republic, which voted to join Russia last year.

The Ukrainian pipeline operator claimed that Russian forces controlling the compressor station were somehow "interfering" with its technical processes and shut down its part of the line. Moscow denied the allegations and warned that Russian gas exports could not be effectively re-routed to other pipelines to compensate for the shutdown.

In July, Kiev said that it might cut Russian gas supplies to Europe altogether as it does not intend to renew the transit deal with Moscow. "I believe, by the winter of 2024, Europe will not need Russian gas at all," Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko told Politico.

The 2019 transit agreement allows Russia to export some 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year via Ukraine until the end of 2024. A third of this volume should have reached Europe via a pipeline that Kiev has already cut off.

"Europe could have just said: ’Open this route now. We need it to support our economy. But no," Putin said, commenting on Kiev’s actions. A similar approach could have been used when Poland terminated a supply contract with Russia ahead of its end-2022 expiry date. Warsaw rejected Moscow's demand for ruble payments in May 2022 and started using its leg of the Yamal-Europe Pipeline to pump stored gas from Germany.

he Yamal-Europe Pipeline, which links European customers to the natural gas fields in Russia’s north, used to carry nearly half of Gazprom’s westbound gas deliveries. Moscow repeatedly stated that it was ready to restart supplies of natural gas to the EU via this route, adding that the shipments had been halted in the first place for political reasons.

Germany might have pointed to the fact that it was the biggest donor to the EU common budget while Poland was the largest recipient of EU funds, Putin said, adding that Berlin might have told Warsaw "not to bite the hand that feeds you."

The German government could have also approved the use of the Russian Nord Stream 2 pipeline, the Russian leader stated. One of the two pipeline strings remained operable after a series of underwater explosions that destroyed the other three strings of Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2.

"Nord Stream 2 is a direct [route] to Germany," Putin said, adding that it could have "delivered 27.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year." Instead, Germany "opts to buy [gas] with a 30% premium and not use our energy resource. That’s their choice," the president added.

#12  More powerful than politicians is the media.

I was interviewed once by a reporter. A group of us volunteer firefighters were sitting around the lounge when a reporter from a large newspaper on the area walked in. He wanted to know how we felt about how the county commissioners dealt with our little volunteer fire department (there were 10 small town fire departments in that county).

1) He was very surprisingly accurate in publishing our ("unofficial") opinions.

2) It really pissed off the county commissioners to no end to hear we had a voice for once. It was pretty cool.

Government Corruption
Hunter Biden Judge Dismisses Gun Charge
[Newsmax] A federal judge moved to formally dismiss the gun charge Hunter Biden was initially expected to avoid prosecution on before his plea deal collapsed under scrutiny.

U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika accepted the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the original gun charge because President Joe Biden’s son is now facing a three-count indictment filed last month, according to the order, which was obtained by The Messenger.

Biden, 53, had been expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges and to enter pre-trial diversion over the gun offense, but the deal collapsed after Noreika raised questions about an immunity clause it contained at a July hearing.

In September, Biden was indicted on one count of possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of, or addicted to, a controlled substance and two counts of making false statements in order to purchase a gun.

The first son pleaded not guilty to the charges last week as the case moves toward a possible trial. His lawyers have said they plan to push for a dismissal of the indictment, and maintain he did not break the law.
(As expected!)

Biden Compares Losing His Son Beau to Israelis Whose Family Members Were Slaughtered by Hamas Terrorists
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
on Tuesday delivered remarks on the ambush Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
terror attack against Israel over the weekend.

He was 90 minutes late to his remarks. This is the first time the public has seen Joe Biden since Saturday.

Biden sounded like he just rolled out of bed as he mumbled for 10 minutes. He confirmed that 14 Americans in Israel have been taken hostage by Hamas terrorists.

"Sadly for the Jewish people, it’s not new. This attack is brought to the surface painful memories & the scars left by a millennia of anti-Semitism and genocide of the Jewish people...We must be crystal clear. We stand with Israel...and we will make sure it has what it needs to take care of its citizens and defend itself," Biden said.

As always, Joe Biden made the speech about himself and compared losing his son Beau to Israelis whose family members were slaughtered by Hamas terrorists.

He just can’t help himself. Biden is a raging narcissist.

"Today Americans across the country are praying for all those families who have been ripped apart. A lot of us know how it feels. It leaves a black hole in your chest when you lose family, feeling like you’re being sucked in. The anger. The pain. The sense of hopelessness," Biden said.

"This is what they mean by human tragedy," he added.

Joe Biden’s son Beau died of brain cancer at Walter Reed in Bethesda, Maryland surrounded by his family in 2015.

Biden is a disgrace for comparing his cancer-stricken son dying in a hospital to Israeli women and kiddies horrifically butchered by Hamas terrorists.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan hold summit to find alternative to Trump
[Hot Air] Senator Mitt Romney
...that’s soon-to-be former Senator Romney, to be precise...
and former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan are holding a two-day summit that began Tuesday. It is described as a "closed-door" summit in Park City, Utah.
As long as it's neither one of them, who cares.
The Republican presidential ticket from 2012, who lost an election that should have been winnable, brought together four current presidential candidates. The four are Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Chris Christie, and Doug Burgum.

This is an 11-year-old summit called the E2 Summit. It focuses on foreign policy, tech, and finance/business. Those attending the summit are "well-heeled, well-wired Republicans" who want to find an alternative to Trump and fund that candidate.

The "maestro" behind the summit is Spencer Zwick. He said the attendees are from the Romney/Ryan network who "don’t just accept that Donald Trump is the nominee. That’s not in their DNA," Zwick said. "They’re genuinely interested in a candidate they can get excited about and get behind."

Majority Leader Steve Scalise Wins House Republicans' Nomination for Speaker
[Gateway] Update: Scalise won the nominee. The full House vote will reportedly take place Wednesday afternoon.

"House Republicans voted behind closed doors to select Rep. Steve Scalise of Louisiana as their nominee for speaker, according to multiple sources familiar, paving the way for a floor vote to elect a new speaker after Kevin McCarthy’s abrupt ouster." CNN reported.

The vote for the nominee for House Speaker was underway on Wednesday. House Republicans held a closed vote for the nominee. Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise are both vying for support.

Kevin McCarthy was ousted as House Speaker on Tuesday in a 216-210 vote after Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a Motion to Vacate the Chair.

8 Republicans voted to oust McCarthy on Tuesday: Biggs, Buck, Burchett, Crane, Gaetz, Good, Mace, and Rosendale.

McCarthy is now the "shortest serving speaker since 1876."

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and Rep. Steve Scalise last week both announced their bid for House Speaker.

"Steve Scalise is now the clear favorite to become the GOP’s nominee for speaker." Punchbowl News founder Jake Sherman said.
