[IsraelTimes] Officials believe initiative will encourage other countries to comply with 1997 international Chemical Weapons Convention — which Israel has signed but not ratified
At a sprawling military installation in the middle of the rolling green hills of eastern Kentucky, a milestone is about to be reached in the history of warfare dating back to World War I.
Workers at the Blue Grass Army Depot are close to destroying rockets filled with GB nerve agent that are the last of the United States’ declared chemical weapons

Yes, Detrick failed their inspection by the CDC a few years ago. Perhaps deficiencies were corrected by shipping them abroad. DoD surely has plenty of off-sites to ship them to, not to mention the WIV.

Couldn’t they just bury the chemicals in the water table at all military bases? Wasn’t that the plan?

I seem to remember FT. D. have a serious Anthrax lab leak issue during the Obama Admin?
Plus as recent as Apr 25, 2023
UN-Sterilized laboratory wastewater from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick, Maryland, spewed out the top of a rusty 50,000-gallon outdoor holding tanks.

I knew a Brit who ran with the beasts many times. He maintained that if you know what you are doing, you are not going to be trampled, and those that do are almost always [drunk] foreigners.
No wonder that the US military banned its service members from running with the bulls in Spain.
[MAIL] Government officials are investigating a mysterious company that has bought around 55,000 acres of dry farmland around a USAF base in California. I'll take Delaware based Crime Family LLC's for $600. Alex.
Travis Air Force base, northeast of San Francisco, houses large transport aircraft used for refueling smaller planes and sending aid and munitions around the world.
Starting in 2018, a company called Flannery Associates LLC has spent around $800million buying swathes of land around the base, leaving local, state and federal officials flummoxed as to who they are and what they want with it.
An attorney representing Flannery told The Wall Street Journal the company is controlled by US citizens and that 97 percent of its capital comes from American investors - with the remaining investments coming from British and Irish citizens.

“In a recent federal court filing, Flannery Associates said it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Flannery Holdings, a limited liability company registered in Delaware. LLCs registered in Delaware don’t have to publicly disclose the identity of their owners.

Maybe it's the Disney folks, preparing for Disney Universe, even bigger than Disney World!

I don’t think Disney has the money to buy anything. It is either the CCP or Bill Gates. Deciding which is more malignant is akin to deciding between a chocolate or strawberry Frosty, entirely to taste. In reality, Bill Gates is not buying the property.

It's rare when you don't see a company registered in Delaware.
Nevada is another one, but if you see one of those, it's most likely a junk penny stock.
A pity the Big Guy ruined what there might be to like about Delaware, a state with no sales tax.
[Yahoo] Massive dust cloud heading toward US may dim the sky this weekend
Outbursts of Canadian wildfire smoke have filled the sky over the eastern United States in recent weeks, but a new airborne danger from a different source is approaching from the tropics.
AccuWeather meteorologists are tracking several large clouds of dust from Africa's Sahara Desert that are currently drifting over the Atlantic Ocean. The immense clouds have the potential to traverse the entire ocean and reduce air quality across the Caribbean and the southeastern United States in the coming days.
The Saharan dust is so dense and widespread that it could be seen from space on Thursday. NOAA's GOES-EAST weather satellite spotted the first cloud of dust over the eastern Caribbean Sea and the Lesser Antilles, with an even bigger plume of dust emerging off the coast of Africa.
"Saharan dust is common most years across parts of the Atlantic basin and sometimes spreads as far west as the Caribbean and Florida," said AccuWeather Director of Forecast Operations Dan DePodwin. "The location and magnitude of the dust changes frequently throughout the season."

Of course it is Canada’s fault. The outsized fires result from a combination of poorly managed forests — no brush clearing or small fires allowed for years — and mostly eco-warrior (Antifa) arsonists allowed to run amok instead of being quickly hunted down and tried, and imprisoned.

The private American company OceanGate announced the suspension of all operations after the crash of the submersible "Titan" in the Atlantic. This is reported on her website.
The only sensible choice until they are sure all their equipment is up to code.
As reported by IA Regnum , microcracks that appeared from water pressure during regular diving could become the cause of the explosion of the bathyscaphe . This version of the death of a deep-sea submersible, which was heading for the wreckage of the sunken Titanic, was put forward by Jasper Graham-Jones, an associate professor at the University of Plymouth.
Bathyscaphe company OceanGate Expedition, designed to deliver tourists to the site of the sinking of the Titanic, disappeared on June 18 in the Atlantic Ocean. Communication with him was lost less than two hours after the dive. Five people were on board: OceanGate Expeditions founder (which owns the bathyscaphe) Stockton Rush , British billionaire Hamish Harding , Pakistani businessman and billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleiman , and French aquanaut Paul-Henri Narjolet .
Rush admitted on camera two years ago that he "broke some rules" while building the Titan.
The wreckage of the Titan was found a few days later during searches at a depth of 3,800 meters.
Tickets for expeditions to the site of the sinking of the Titanic, OceanGate Expeditions, despite the tragedy with the Titanic submersible, continued to sell. The schedule of tours for the next year is published on the company's website .
A letter from a Titanic passenger written on board the ship sold for $12,000 at an auction in Uruguay.
[Garowe] The breakaway region of Somaliland has linked the United Arab Emirates-trained Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... Marine Police Force [PMPF] to fueling the conflict in Las Anod, over seven months into fierce fighting in the northern state of Somalia, which is pushing for international recognition.
In a statement by the Ministry of Defence, Somaliland claimed the PMPF has been waging attacks against the region instead of focusing on fighting forces of Evil and pirates along the Indian Ocean as envisaged in their mission. The force is allegedly fighting with the Somaliland army, the statement underscored.
Las Anod conflict has left over 200 people dead with locals under SSC-Khatumo fighting to be governed from Mogadishu instead of Hargeisa. Locals accused Somaliland troops of unleashing terror on them as the conflict escalated five months ago, with the international community seeking urgent solutions.
Also accused of fighting the Somaliland army in the outskirts of Las Anod are Puntland security forces who were trained by the United States in the fight against terrorism, with Somalia soldiers who recently graduated from Eritrea ...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age... also dragged into the accusations, in what could trigger fresh fighting in the region.
A few months ago, Puntland denied involvement in the Las Anod conflict with regional leader Said Abdullahi Deni threatening to support SSC-Khatumo forces if Somaliland refused to withdraw her army from Las Anod. Already, Hargeisa insists that it has withdrawn her troops from Las Anod to its borders.
The local leaders in Las Anod also denied forces of Evil are involved in the ongoing conflict, with the US-Trained Danab commandos also denying involvement. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud had asked conflicting parties to embrace dialogue for the sake of stability and peace in the region.
Somaliland now insists that it will have no option other than to "defend our territory" should the troops from Puntland fail to leave. The region accuses Puntland of "fueling anarchy" I. a rather peaceful state, but Garowe is yet to issue a statement with regard to the latest accusations.
The breakaway region seized Sool and Sanag regions from Puntland in 2007 and since then, border disputes have been synonymous with local leadership. While Somaliland was colonized by the British, Somalia was under the Italians but the two sides merged in 1960 to form a union, which has been experiencing turmoil since 1991.
[BureauOfLaborStatistics] Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 209,000 in June, and the unemployment rate changed little at 3.6 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment continued to trend up in government, health care, social assistance, and construction. On the positive side, wage growth per hour and wages per week both rose faster than inflation although just barely.
On the negative side, there were major downward revisions in the previous two months’ payroll growth. Also, there was a big jump in part-time employment which is also not a good sign.
