US Army Special Forces interpreter who fled Taliban in Afghanistan fatally shot in DC, suspects caught on camera
[TheBlaze] A former Afghan interpreter who assisted U.S. Special Forces has been fatally shot in Washington, D.C., according to authorities.

Nasrat Ahmad Yar, 31, served as an interpreter for the U.S. Army Special Forces in Afghanistan for a decade. Yar escaped Afghanistan in 2021 with his wife and children after the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
took control of the country.

Yar — a father of four who was living in Alexandria, Virginia — was working as a driver for the ride-sharing service Lyft. Yar was working an extra rideshare shift shortly after midnight on Monday when he was slain, according to a verified GoFundMe page.

A single gunshot is heard in the surveillance video.

Four individuals, seemingly teens, are seen on video running down an alley.

One person says, "You just killed him."

Another replies, "He was reaching, bro."

Emergency personnel responded to the scene of the crime and found Yar on the ground next to his car suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Yar had moved to Virginia from Philadelphia less than a year ago because he felt unsafe in the City of Brotherly Love after being robbed at gunpoint, according to CBS News.

The GoFundMe campaign noted that Yar was the sole provider for his family, including his four children, ages 15 months to 13 years old. At the time of publication, the crowdfunding campaign had raised more than $125,000 for Yar's family.

Close friend Jeramie Malone said, "I can't emphasize enough how he was always helping. Leaving the house was very dangerous for him, but he was always eager to help somebody else who is a good guy. His children were the most important thing to him, and he brought them here so he could be safe."

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Butler told WUSA, "He was most certainly a marked man if he stayed."

"You just don’t have words to describe how you feel about someone who had given so much to his country, not as a citizen, but then comes here and experiences some of the worst behavior our country has to offer," Butler added. "The irony is really thick here."

A Lyft spokesperson told CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
, "Our hearts are with Mr. Nasrat’s loved ones as they confront this unspeakable tragedy. We have reached out to his family to offer our support and are in contact with law enforcement to assist with their investigation."

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest in the heartbreaking case.

#1  We need to start calling these suspects the ‘Bowser Four’. Make the Mayor own this crap.

I rarely do this but I did chip in on the Gofundme. Not because of his service to Afghanistan & USA but because he was working 12 hours a day to support his family. He was the right kind of immigrant America needs.

Afghanistan
Taliban Summon Beauty Salon Owners’ Family Members in Afghanistan’s Ghazni
[KhaamaPress] The Director of Promotion of Virtue and Prohibition of the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in Ghazni Province reportedly summoned the family members of several owners of women’s beauty salons on Thursday and warned them to end their activities by the end of the month.

The Department’s officials have threatened to prosecute and punish the husbands of the owners of these beauty parlours or other family members in case of violation.

According to the decree issued by the Taliban’sTaliban’s Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, women’swomen’s beauty parlours in Afghanistan will no longer be allowed to operate after July 23, 2023.

According to a report, more than 60,000 women will lose their jobs due to the closure of women’swomen’s beauty salons across the country.

According to the Khaama Press report, there are over 12,000 women’swomen’s beauty salons throughout the country, with an average of five women employed by each. There are 3,100 women-only beauty salons in Kabul.

It is also important to note that most women support their families solely through employment.

Since August 2021, the de facto authorities issued some suppressive policies and practices which restricted women’s rights, including banning women from attending schools and universities and working with aid agencies.

Human rights activists and the international community have massively criticized the recent decree by the Taliban.

[ArianaNews] Fan China Afghan Mining Processing and Trading Company (FAMPTC) will invest $350 million over the next few months in various sectors including power generation, construction of a cement factory and in health in Afghanistan, the company announced on Thursday.

FAMPTC officials announced their plans in a meeting with Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, political deputy and acting prime minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).

The company’s officials said that they had professional and specialized people to work on the projects and operational plans in place which will soon be implemented in Afghanistan, according to a statement released by the prime minister’s office.

The acting prime minister called on foreign and local investors to take the opportunity to invest in Afghanistan as conditions are more favorable than ever.

He said that the IEA assures investors that they and their assets will be safe.

Fan China Afghan Mining Processing and Trading Company (FAMPTC), is a joint venture between China’s Xinjiang Central Asia Petroleum and Gas Co (CAPEIC) and Afghanistan’s Watan Group, according to state news agency Bakhtar.

Africa North
Watchdog urges Tunisia to stop expelling migrants to desert
[AnNahar] Human Rights Watch on Friday urged Tunisia to put an end to what it called the "collective expulsions" of Black African migrants colonists to a desert area near the Libyan border.

Hundreds of migrants colonists from sub-Saharan Africa have been left stranded in dire conditions in the south of Tunisia since being driven out of the port city of Sfax in the past week.

It comes against a backdrop of violence after the funeral of a 41-year-old Tunisian man who was stabbed to death in Sfax on Monday, in a brawl between Tunisians and migrants colonists.

Sfax, the North African country's second-largest city, is a departure point for many hoping to reach Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
by sea, often the Italian island of Lampedusa about 130 kilometers away.

"Tunisian security forces have collectively expelled several hundred Black African migrants colonists and asylum seekers, including children and pregnant women, since July 2, to a remote, militarized buffer zone at the Tunisia-Libya border," HRW said.

"Many reported violence by authorities during arrest or expulsion," the New York-based watchdog said in a statement.

HRW's Lauren Seibert urged Tunisia's government to "halt collective expulsions and urgently enable humanitarian access to the African migrants colonists and asylum seekers already expelled to a dangerous area".

The group said migrants colonists it interviewed alleged "several people died or were killed at the border area" between Sunday and Wednesday, "some shot and others beaten" by Tunisian security forces.

"They also said that Libyan men carrying machetes or other weapons had robbed some people and raped several women," HRW reported, adding it was unable to independently confirm the accounts.

HRW called on the government in Tunis to "investigate and hold to account security forces implicated in abuses".

"African migrants colonists and asylum seekers, including children, are desperate to get out of the dangerous border zone and find food, medical care, and safety," Seibert said. "There is no time to waste."

Tunisia has seen a rise in racially motivated attacks after President Kais Saied in February accused "hordes" of undocumented migrants colonists of bringing violence and alleging a "criminal plot" to change the country's demographic make-up.

Britain
Special Forces at centre of Afghanistan war crimes inquiry, MoD confirms
[BBC] The Ministry of Defence has confirmed for the first time that UK Special Forces are at the centre of a war crimes inquiry.

The BBC uncovered evidence clearly indicating that one SAS unit operating in Afghanistan in 2010 and 2011 killed 54 people in suspicious circumstances in one six-month tour.
The MoD on Wednesday abandoned an effort to restrict any mention of Special Forces' involvement in alleged war crimes in Afghanistan. The MoD's stance had been challenged by bereaved family members and by several media outlets, including the BBC. The inquiry follows years of reporting into alleged SAS unlawful killings.

In a statement ahead of a hearing of the Independent Inquiry relating to Afghanistan, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: "The inquiry is now reaching the stage of substantive hearings, and I can confirm that the allegations relate to the conduct of UK Special Forces."

Europe
France's small towns reeling from rioting, countryside affected too
[AnNahar] After a pleasant evening of wine-tasting — joyfully billed "Grapes and Friends!" — with a hundred or so people and oysters, charcuteries and cheeses, the mayor of the picturesque French town of Quissac was on his way home.

Then his phone rang: Urban unrest that was engulfing La Belle France after the deadly police shooting of a teenager on Gay Paree' outskirts, hundreds of kilometers and a world away to the north, had careened into Quissac's tranquility, too. In a quick hit-and-run, a small group of people — seemingly no more than four, the mayor says — bombarded the local gendarmes' barracks on Quai de la Gare road with powerful fireworks, denting its metal shutters and setting fire to a cypress tree. In the grander scheme of things, it wasn't much compared to orgies of destruction, arson, looting and rioting unleashed on multitudes of other communities across La Belle France in six nights of mayhem. Still, for the town of 3,300 people in the Gard region of southern La Belle France, it was a first.

Quissac's unsettling experience last Friday night — and those of other out-of-the-way towns and villages also hit by unrest to varying degrees — set La Belle France's latest nationwide spasm of rioting apart from previous cycles of violence that have flared periodically in every decade since the 1980s. Although typically referred to in La Belle France as "les violences urbaines" — urban violence — the unrest this time was no longer contained to blue-collar towns and cities' disadvantaged housing projects, places where anger at social and racial inequalities has festered. Carried in part on the winds of social networks that have narrowed gaps between La Belle France's urban centers and its vast rural spaces, unrest also reached outward to touch places that escaped a similar nationwide wave of rioting in 2005.

French Military Investigates Whether Off-Duty Troops Turned Vigilante During Riots
[Breitbart] Thousands of vehicles and buildings were destroyed across France in a week of rioting, but now the military is investigating whether a group of well-disciplined young men in balaclavas zip-tying suspected looters were actually their own people.
No good deed goes unpunished? Surely those keeping the streets of Lorient, Brittany safe from the worst of the depredations of those rioting over the death-while-committing-a-crime of Nahel Merzouk ought to be praised instead.
The French military has launched an internal investigation into whether a group of its troops donned civilian clothing and went into the town next to their base to unofficially assist local police in combating rioters, it is now claimed. The announcement of the investigation follows an initial denial by the maritime command that their troops were in any way involved last week, which was followed on Monday by an admission that while some may have done so, it was unofficial and the military had not been alerted in advance.

French newspaper Le Figaro reports it understands that if any facts in the case can be proven, it was conceivable that the troops involved in what was dubbed the “brigade anticasseur” (anti-thug brigade) could be punished.

More than 180 Yazidis return to Shingal
[Rudaw] More than 180 Yazidis who had sheltered in camps in Duhok province for nearly a decade returned to their homes in Shingal, Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced on Friday.

"Migration and Displacement Minister Evan Faeq Gabro, announced the return of 189 displaced Yazidis from the displacement camps in Duhok province to their original areas of residence in the town of Sinjar," read a statement from the ministry, using another name for Shingal.

The statement added that the return of the Yazidis to their homes is part of government efforts to close the file on internal displacement. According to United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
figures, 1.17 million Iraqis are internally displaced across the country, down from more than 3.2 million in 2015.

When Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) Death Eaters captured the Shingal area in 2014, they committed heinous atrocities that constitute genocide against the minority Yazidis, including massacres and sexual violence. More than 400,000 Yazidis were forced to flee to displacement camps, mainly in the Kurdistan Region.

Minister Gabro said the government will continue registering families who wish to voluntarily return to their areas and will provide facilities and basic necessities.

Though ISIS was declared territorially defeated in Iraq in 2017, concerns over living conditions, lack of security, political disputes, and slow reconstruction have meant most families cannot return to their homes.

In June, 87 Yazidis returned from Duhok’s Sharia camp to Shingal under a program run by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCC). However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
the head of JCC, Srwa Rasul, told Rudaw at the time that she feared the families could be displaced again because of poor conditions in Shingal.

According to IOM, around 80 percent of Shingal’s public infrastructure and 70 percent of civilian homes were destroyed during the war with ISIS between 2014 and 2017. Basic services such as electricity and water are not consistently available, and numerous health and education facilities are yet to be rebuilt.

There is a myriad of armed forces in the Shingal area with various allegiances, including the Kurdistan Region Peshmerga, pro-Iran

Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, or Hashd al-Shaabi in Arabic), and groups affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). A 2020 deal between Baghdad and Erbil to secure and govern Shingal has not been fully implemented.

In a report last month, Human Rights Watch slammed Iraqi authorities for failing to adequately compensate thousands of Yazidi families who bore the brunt of ISIS atrocities.

US has military options for Iran's nuclear threat, CENTCOM air force chief tells 'Post'
We also have military plans to invade and conquer Canada, should it be needed. We haven’t used them in over two centuries, but we’ve got ‘em and they are regularly updated.
[Jpost] The US regularly updates its military options for threats from Iran’s evolving nuclear facilities, US Lt. Gen. and CENTCOM Air Force Chief Alexus Grynkewich told The Jerusalem Post in an exclusive interview.

Israel also seeks regularly to gauge how much of a threat Iran’s nuclear program presents and how much backing Jerusalem would have from the US if it needed to confront that threat with preemptive strikes. The Post asked the AFCENT chief whether the US military would continue to be able to potentially handle the threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite the construction of a new, deep, underground nuclear facility at Natanz.

“You can assume we are keeping a very close eye on Iranian facilities out there, continuing our evaluation of what it means, what Iran is using it for, what options we might have for those facilities,” Grynkewich said.

#1  What is it about this administration and its flapping gums. First they tell the world what it is up to in Ukraine. It notes the new weaponry to be sent to Taiwan. And this Grnykewich flaps his gums. Is nothing secret in a world living on the edge?

#3  Instructions for on how to ride a nuclear war in style, suggest that you must build your bunker very deep, If you are in a city of large town - Make it deep - 30ft (10m) down at least in a city centre - 15ft (5m) on the outskirts - 10ft (3m) in the suburbs.
And if you are lucky and stay intact, you'll need 6month to a year food rations and things like first aid, water sterilizers, liquid iodine and iodine supplements x10 , torches, reg battery/windup run radio gorilla tape, plastic bags etc, don't forget the re-chargeable batteries lots of them, a portable solar recharger, even wind up can work.. Keep the batteries in use at home and replace when they are no good anymore. For food canned bully beef, Tuna, Salmon, baked-beans, spagetti rigatoni, penne, angel hairs, tomato cans and jars, ready meals like chicken in white sauce, beef stew, plenty of cheap vegs, vap. milk, canned butter (gee?? be careful Indian ones are often fake). Then dried milk, flour, mash potatoes, rice, powdered egg, semolina, slit peas, beans, pearl barely and stew mixes. Rotate these with you household requirements to keep them fresher. If you like cheese get some pecorino cause can last for long time without refrigerator. Don't forget can opener (x10), water fresh carriers/tanks (x10 ), axe (x3), utensils, lighters/matches (some waterproof) and kindling (20lbs - 10 kg). Of course there's extras like clothing, camping gear and survival gear (like bags, hunting & fishing - guns rifles and good optics, and don’t forget get some good books) and plenty of whisky and vodka…….Or move to Costa Rica
