Recent, rapid ocean warming ahead of El Niño alarms scientists
[BBC] A recent, rapid heating of the world's oceans has alarmed scientists concerned that it will add to global warming.

This month, the global sea surface hit a new record high temperature. It has never warmed this much, this quickly.

Scientists don't fully understand why this has happened.

But they worry that, combined with other weather events, the world's temperature could reach a concerning new level by the end of next year.

Experts believe that a strong El Niño weather event - a weather system that heats the ocean - will also set in over the next months.

Warmer oceans can kill off marine life, lead to more extreme weather and raise sea levels. They are also less efficient at absorbing planet-warming greenhouse gases.

An important new study, published last week with little fanfare, highlights a worrying development.
The article links to the study, which has a reeeely long list of co-authors and starts with an abstract full of assumptions about data accumulated since 1971. The first problem of which, it seems to me, is that in 1971 they were measuring in far fewer spots on the planet than they are now — or so I have read elsewhere.
Over the past 15 years, the Earth has accumulated almost as much heat as it did in the previous 45 years, with most of the extra energy going into the oceans.

This is having real world consequences - not only did the overall temperature of the oceans hit a new record in April this year, in some regions the difference from the long term was enormous.

In March, sea surface temperatures off the east coast of North America were as much as 13.8C higher than the 1981-2011 average.
And elsewhere?
Another important factor that is worrying scientists is the weather phenomenon known as the El Niño Southern Oscillation.

For the past three years this naturally occurring event has been in a cooler phase called La Niña, and has helped keep global temperatures in check.

But researchers now believe that a strong El Niño is forming which will have significant implications for the world.

"The Australian Bureau's model does go strongly for a strong El Niño. And it has been trending that way and all the climate models have been trending that way to a stronger event," said Hugh McDowell from Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Ah yes, models. Which have proved poor at predicting thus far....
Mr McDowell cautioned that predictions at this point of the year are less reliable. Other researchers are more bullish.

A coastal El Niño has already developed off the shores of Peru and Ecuador and experts believe a fully formed event will follow with implications for global temperatures.

"If a new El Niño new comes on top of it, we will probably have additional global warming of 0.2-0.25C," said Dr Josef Ludescher, from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research.
If and probably — words to help you sleep more soundly at night, dear Reader.

So the naturally occurring cycle has helped keep climate change 'in check', except when the cycle went the other way.

I think I got it now.

#10  Consider this Semi-Joking fact.

The Human Population Growth may be the problem.

The average human body typically radiates around 100W to 110W of heat. With Females radiating more heat at certain stages of life (☺) .

With a 8.029, Billion human population estimated as of 4-26-2023 @ 9:34 EST. That works out to about 802.9 Billion watts of heat emitted every living second.

In 1953 the population was about 2.677 Billion. Since 1953 (70 years ago) humans population alone is emitting 199.88% MORE heat. Could the human population, itself, be a major part of the issue?

Since LSD's seem to be the most heated on so many issues.
Should the LSD population be trimmed to protect the environment? ☺ Maybe setting Street Suicide Booths in SF, LA, NYC, Chicago, Portland and Seattle may be the solution.☺

#14  Well San Diego was the "coolest" and wettest I've ever seen. Which, if I had lived for 450M years so far, *might* be statistically significant - but probably not.

But anyway it was more than double the annual rainfall average (which has been tracked since waaaay back in ..... early 20th century?

This entire climate thing is the, or among, top actual threat to freedom and prosperity. It already exacts a tremendous tax on societies indulging the lysenkoism. It's sort of amazing, and terrifying: this is 1,000 times more important than even the "big" issues discussed by political figures, and yet there is basically silence, on the adult/rational/scientific side (in the political sphere).

RFK Jr. explains the Carlson firing
[People via American Liberty] A hereditary Democratic Party presidential hopeful has surprising praise for Tucker Carlson after his unceremonious departure from Fox News Channel (FNC).

In the wake of Monday's announcement, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expressed support for Carlson and suggested without evidence that Carlson was forced out over a recent monologue about the pharmaceutical industry.

"Fox fires @tuckercarlson five days after he crosses the red line by acknowledging that the TV networks pushed a deadly and ineffective vaccine to please their Pharma advertisers," the 69-year-old nephew of late President John F. Kennedy and son of late U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy wrote on Twitter. "Carlson's breathtakingly courageous April 19 monologue broke TV's two biggest rules: Tucker told the truth about how greedy Pharma advertisers controlled TV news content and he lambasted obsequious newscasters for promoting jabs they knew to be lethal and worthless."

He continued: "For many years, Tucker has had the nation's biggest audience averaging 3.5 million — 10 times the size of CNN. Fox just demonstrated the terrifying power of Big Pharma."

Explosive New Study Finds Face Masks May Increase Stillbirths, Testicular Dysfunction, Cognitive Decline IN KIDS
[SUMMIT] A new study by by German researchers has concluded that face masks can cause carbon dioxide poisoning when worn even for short periods and may have contributed significantly to stillbirths when worn by pregnant women, as well as testicular dysfunction and cognitive decline in children, among other destructive health issues.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the research, published in the journal Heliyon, comprises a review of 43 previously published studies on exposure to CO2, mask-wearing, and pregnancy.

The study notes that even short-term exposure to concentrations of CO2 as low as 0.3% caused brain damage, increased anxiety, and impaired memory in both pregnant rats and young mice in one study.

In another, when male mice were exposed to 2.5 percent CO2 for four hours, testicular cells and sperm were destroyed. The equivalent amount for humans would be 0.5 percent of CO2 over the same time period.

Yet another experiment discovered that stillbirth and birth defects occurred in pregnant rats that were exposed to just 3 percent CO2, which would be equal to 0.8 percent for humans.

The study also points to research that found just five minutes of mask wearing resulted in CO2 levels increasing to between 1.4 percent and 3.2 percent.

While they note that the review provides ’circumstantial evidence’ only, the researchers allude to a surge in stillbirths during the pandemic, saying that masks could have contributed.

#3  Social peer pressure compliance mark which fit in the pantomime. The more polished is when everyone had the Ukraine flag in their avatar, or even better flying on their front porch. Some even had it the correct side up.

But anyone who has spent any time in masks would point out the downside, even if it is better than breathing dry wall dust.

One of the many learning benefits of sticking puppies' heads into bags full of fleas.

#4  How did the data shake out when they studied the stillbirths versus Covid vaccine status? It seems like a vaccine study would be a little cleaner and more believable than the mask study. Did they account for people wearing the masks improperly?
