[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Tunisia’s moderate Islamist Ennahda party publicly criticized President Kais Saied on Tuesday, warning his policies threatened democracy, in an escalation of the country’s political crisis.
Ennahda, which holds a majority at parliament, accused Saied of "violating the constitution", having a "tendency towards individual rule" and "encroaching on the political system and the powers of the prime minister".
It was a response to Saied’s comments on Sunday that his constitutional control of the military extended to the internal security forces, part of a wider power struggle between him, parliament and the prime minister.
Tunisia has suffered near political stalemate since 2019 elections that returned a deeply fragmented parliament in which Ennahda, as the biggest party, had only a quarter of seats, while putting Saied, an independent, into the presidency.
Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, Saied’s own nominee for the role, has since his appointment last year been at odds with him and backed by Ennahda, whose leader, Rached Ghannouchi, is the parliament speaker.
Mechichi tried to reshuffle the cabinet this year but Saied refused to endorse the appointment of new ministers. It left Mechichi as acting interior minister, a position Saied has challenged.
Tunisia’s 2014 constitution has until now been widely interpreted as putting the internal security forces and the Interior Ministry under the control of the prime minister.
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, the Minister of Health of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Ali al-Zanati held talks with the North Korea ...hereditary Communist monarchy distinguished by its truculence and periodic acts of violence. Distinguishing features include Songun (Army First) policy, which involves feeding the army before anyone but the Dear Leadership, and Juche, which is Kim Jong Il's personal interpretation of Marxism-Leninism, which he told everybody was brilliant. In 1950 the industrialized North invaded agrarian South Korea. Twenty-one countries of the United Nations eventually contributed to the UN force opposing the invasion, with the United States providing around 90% of the military personnel. Seventy years later the economic results are in and it doesn't look good for Juche... n Ambassador to Libya, Ju Jin-hyuk to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in the healthcare sector.
In a statement, the minister stressed the depth of relations, and his hope to open the door for further medical cooperation between the two countries, especially with regards to providing logistical support.
The Ambassador confirmed that Pyongyang has a long history of healthcare cooperation with Libya, and will seek to reactivate this work as soon as possible. During the meeting, they also discussed the return of Korean medical personnel to Libya, in order to help the ailing healthcare sector.

LIBYA offers a backdoor to more certain items the North Korean Elite want or need.
BTW: Hillary/Obama support of Arab Spring removed the only major stumbling block and opened access to Libya for NK.

What can North Korea offer in trade beyond medicinal radioactive isotopes, white juche, pallets of fake US$100 bills, and turnkey nuclear bomb factories, NN2N1?
One wants one’s organs to be healthy and well nourished, as opposed to strung out on drugs. One would expect the same for children, but I suppose that if they’re grateful to be far from North Korea it’ll suffice.
I was just looking up white juche, which I thought meant heroin, but apparently while I wasn’t looking became used by certain white ultranationalists as shorthand for an idealized socialist white ethno-state led by a Kim Jong Il style totalitarian Great Leader. Neo-nazis, for short.
North Korea has a long history of state-sponsored production and smuggling of narcotics, including heroin from poppies grown on farms and synthetic drugs prepared in university laboratories.
According to media reports, starting in the late 1990s methamphetamine was used as a medication in the North, which helped to fuel its spread. The regime began exporting to China, with the Chinese government confirming in 2004 that it had a problem with drugs smuggled over the border from North Korea.
Exports expanded
Exports subsequently expanded to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, the United States and western Africa.
North Korean diplomats and officials of state-run enterprises have been linked to the smuggling of ivory from Africa, counterfeit cigarettes and medicines, pirated DVDs, used cars and gold in order to earn money, but the most recent clampdown ordered by the United Nations under Security Council Resolution 2371 has made it more difficult to raise funds.
The DailyNK report identifies a number of educational institutions and companies that are allegedly involved in the manufacturing of crystal meth, including the Pyongsong College of Science and the Sunchon Pharmaceutical Factory. And given its relative proximity and a thriving underworld that already has links to North Korea, there are concerns that Japan would be one of the first targets of any export campaign.
'Criminal enterprise'
"North Korea is essentially a criminal enterprise run by one family and they excel at criminal behavior, and that includes the delivery of illegal drugs," said Jake Adelstein, author of "Tokyo Vice: An American Reporter on the Police Beat in Japan" and an expert on Japan's underworld groups.
"I have heard from my police sources that already there has been an increase in the supply of drugs that appeal to a younger generation of consumer, such as ecstasy," he said.
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Monday, UN Envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis called on all foreign mercenaries to immediately withdraw from the country. "Libya has a Government of National Unity (GNU), and its politicians and military leaders want these imported muscle to leave," Kubis said in an interview with The Times newspaper.
"The longer imported muscle and mercenaries remain in Libya, the more they intervene in a way that reinforces the existing division in the country into the two camps," he added. "All Libyans are keen to hold the next elections," adding that "holding the elections would create momentum and give an impetus to the withdrawal of foreign elements from Libya."
"I hope that the elections will end the transitional period and establish a unified parliament elected by the people of their own free will," he concluded.
Leaked documents revealed that 11,609 Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian mercenaries remain in Libya, despite the warring-factions signing a UN-brokered ceasefire agreement last October. The agreement stipulated that all imported muscle must withdraw from the country within three months.
Earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... had transferred more than 18,000 mercenaries from Syria to western Libya; among them former fighters of IS and al-Qaeda.

[Daily Mail] New Zealand has said it will no longer confront China over human rights as part of the 'Five Eyes' intelligence network, reversing an earlier commitment to its allies.
Foreign minister Nanaia Mahuta said New Zealand was 'uncomfortable' with pressuring Beijing and wanted to pursue its own relationship with its largest trading partner.
The intelligence sharing alliance, formalized during the Cold War, last year began issuing statements condemning China's human rights record.

Since when was New Zealand ever relevant? They're at the ass end of nowhere, have no military, and despise the US. Good riddance I say. Good luck as a Chinese vassal. They'll soon miss the good old days with us.

Drop them out completely. No reason for them to be there - NZ has no special relationship with the US. Australia and UK? Maybe, but not the US. And especially now with the Kiwis turning to jelly-spined socialists and kneeling to be hand-fed like good little slaves by the Chinese.
The Maori, where Kiwis get their toughness rep, have become neutered: all about tattoos and "Hollywood" Haka for the cameras, not warrior culture. No real balls left in most of them under 35 anymore.

[AlAhram] "We decided to postpone the talks" until celebrations for the holy month of Ramadan end in mid-May, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told HaberTurk television in an interview
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... said Tuesday an international peace conference on Afghanistan scheduled for April 24 in Istanbul has been postponed until mid-May.
The Istanbul meeting was planned as the new US administration of President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier... announced the withdrawal of all forces from the country before this year's 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Turkey had first announced the conference, co-sponsored by the United Nations ...boodling on the grand scale... and Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... , to run from April 24 to May 4.
But Cavusoglu said: "We believed it would be useful to postpone" after consultations with Doha and the UN.
The US is trying to add urgency to long-stalled peace talks that could finally see it end a military involvement in Afghanistan that began in response to the 2001 terror attacks on Washington and New York.
Ankara said last week the talks would be between representatives of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan and the Taliban ...Arabic for students... .
[DAILYTIMES.PK] A resolution was tabled in the National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday for the deportation of the French ambassador from Pakistain over the issue of blasphemous caricatures being published in the European country and the subsequent remarks by French President Emmanuel Macron.
PTI politician Amjid Ali Khan moved a resolution condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures by French magazine Charlie Hebdo ...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe... in September last year. It also regretted the French’s president "encouragement of the elements hurting the sentiments of the hundreds of millions of Moslems in the name of freedom of expression".
The MNA along with presenting the resolution, also requested the formation of a special parliamentary committee to discuss the matter.
The leader of the banned ...the word banned seems to have a different meaning in Pakistain than it does in most other places. Or maybe it simply lacks any meaning at all...
organization Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain, Saad Rizvi, was reportedly released from jail.
Earlier, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid in a video message said that talks between the government and the banned Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain remained successful.
In the video statement, Sheikh Rashid said that the government today will present a resolution in the National Assembly for the expulsion of the French Envoy. He also said that the cases registered against TLP would be withdrawn.

As I was reading this, these were the thoughts in me.
What manner of gods and deities are these, that require legislation and activism by fools to defend their honor?
My Lord isn't like them, nay. He is like none other. My Lord is the maker of the firmament itself. All others are like chaff before him. The self existing one, the Lord of hosts is his name. He winks and generations destroy themselves in folly. He looks upon the sons of men and the evil they have wrought, and says within Himself, 'Enough!' and the world is washed away. At his rising from the seat, at his advance, the elements shall one day melt with a fervent heat. And the fool that is man will run naked and afraid, and all his gods with him.
[SHAFAQ] A government source denied releasing the head of the al-Hal Party, Jamal al-Karboli, who was arrested over charges of corruption.
The source told Shafaq News agency that al-Karboli is still in jug and no judicial decision has been issued to release him until the moment.
Some local and social media pages reported that Jamal al-Karboli was released on bail pending his appearance before the court to look into the corruption charges against him.
A special security force arrested the head of al-Hal party, Jamal al-Karboli.
A source told Shafaq News Agency that al-Karboli and his brother, Louay, were apprehended in al-Yarmouk area, Baghdad, at dawn over charges of corruption.
The source said that the operation was orchestrated by the Anti-Corruption Commission after obtaining arrest warrants from the Judiciary.
[SHAFAQ] MP of Saladin and member of the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee, Jasim Hussein al-Jabara, demanded the Iraqi government to form a tribal mobilization in al-Mu'tasim, in Samarra district, to confront ISIS terrorists.
Al-Jabara told Shafaq News agency, " ISIS is threatening areas extending from al-Mu'tasim to Samarra, al-Hamdaniya and to Albu Khado area", pointing out, "these are sensitive security areas that we have repeatedly warned of ISIS taking advantage of them, and turning them into shelters and starting points for targeting civilian and security targets."
He added that the crimes committed by ISIS in the past two are a dangerous sign that requires reconsideration of the insurance plans of Saladin, and the recruitment of a group of rustics to confront the danger of the organization.
Al-Jabara called on the Saladin operations command and al-Hashd al-Shaabi to, "help and support al-Mu'tasim sub-district, whose sons are terrified as a result of the liquidations that targeted citizens inside their homes, amid questions about the role of the security services and other supportive formations."
As to al-Jabara, there are only 80 coppers in al-Mu'tasim sub-district, making it easier for the holy warriors to infiltrate, move around and carry out surprise attacks and strikes."
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] The Executive Committee of the Paleostinian Liberation Organization (PLO) confirmed during its meeting that elections could not be held without Jerusalem, according to a committee member, Ahmed Majdalani.
Majdalani confirmed that holding the elections was a Paleostinian decision that had no regional or international ties, as the gateway to ending the division and renewing the structure of the Paleostinian political system.
"Ignoring the official Paleostinian request is a clear response that the Israeli government doesn’t want to allow the Paleostinian elections in East Jerusalem," said Majdalani, indicating that it is an explicit response that elections cannot be held.
Majdalani’s statement confirms the final position of the Paleostinian leadership, meaning the elections due on May 22 will most likely not take place, given that Israel does not allow any Paleostinian "sovereign" activity in Jerusalem.
[IsraelTimes] Nabil Shaath, an adviser to Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... , says in a statement that the Paleostinian national elections scheduled for next month are "very likely" to be postponed in light of Israel’s refusal to allow the vote to go forward in East Jerusalem.
A plausible excuse. But really it’s because the Palestinian/PLO/Fatah vote will be split, leading to Hamas winning the presidency for the second time.
Shaath says that if Israel continues to ignore the PA’s request to hold the elections in East Jerusalem, "the electoral process will be postponed."
He adds that PA Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki has been sent to Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... to push for international pressure on Israel on the matter.
The Paleostinians view East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, while Israel considers the entire city its undivided capital and bars any PA activity from taking place in the city.
Shaath’s comments came a day after the Paleostinian Elections Commission said most Paleostinians in East Jerusalem will be able to vote in next month’s elections, regardless if Israel permits voting in the city.
The commission said some 150,000 residents will be able to vote in what Paleostinians call the "Jerusalem suburbs" — towns and villages that ring the capital. Israel defines these areas as lying in the West Bank, while the Paleostinian Authority see them as part of its "Jerusalem Governorate."
Abbas announced in mid-January that the Paleostinians would hold their first elections in over 15 years. Paleostinians last went to the ballot box in the 2006 legislative elections, which led Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, to a landslide victory over Abbas’s Fatah movement.
Paleostinians are scheduled to head to legislative elections next month and then to presidential elections on July 31.
[JPost] - The US and Iran could reach an agreement to return to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal soon, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday, following another round of indirect talks between the countries.
"The talks in Vienna have progressed by about 60 to 70%," Rouhani said. "If Americans act within the framework of honesty, we will achieve results in a short time." Well, knock me over with a feather!
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Lord of the Baath... appointed a new central bank chief on Tuesday, a week after the former governor was sacked amid Syria's spiraling economic crisis.
"President Assad issues decree Number 126 for the year 2021 which appoints Mohammad Issam Hazimeh as the new governor of Syria's central bank," the presidency said in a statement.
A lawyer by training, Hazimeh has served as deputy central bank governor since 2018, according to pro-government daily al-Watan.
It said he earlier held posts at the justice ministry, the Damascus Securities Exchange and the state-owned company responsible for online payments.
He replaces Hazem Karfoul who was dismissed in a decree last Tuesday after three years in the post.
Karfoul oversaw an accelerating economic crisis sparked by civil war and compounded by sanctions, the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. "He lacked the courage and responsibility to take technical measures to curb" the devaluation of the Syrian pound, it said, citing sources.
Hazimeh will inherit the daunting task of stabilizing the local currency which has lost more than 98 percent of its value against the dollar on the black market.
Officially valued at 1,256 to the greenback, the dollar now costs nearly 3,000 pounds on the black market.
The government last month started enforcing a series of measures to stem a further drop in the pound's value.

That puckering tightness you get every time you go to throw a switch...
[IsraelTimes] Power has been restored in Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility and uranium enrichment activities there have been renewed, the head of the country’s atomic agency says.
Ali Akbar Salehi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, is cited by the IRNA news agency as saying that "the cables damaged in the accident were speedily replaced and... the main power supply to the Natanz enrichment facility [is] now connected to the grid.
Salehi adds that "thanks to the timely measures taken, enrichment in Natanz never stopped, even when the main power cable was cut," according to the report.
