'New Zealand backs out of 'Five Eyes' intelligence network's 'China-watch' over fears it will hit country's trade partnership
2021-04-21
[Daily Mail] New Zealand has said it will no longer confront China over human rights as part of the 'Five Eyes' intelligence network, reversing an earlier commitment to its allies.

Foreign minister Nanaia Mahuta said New Zealand was 'uncomfortable' with pressuring Beijing and wanted to pursue its own relationship with its largest trading partner.

The intelligence sharing alliance, formalized during the Cold War, last year began issuing statements condemning China's human rights record.

#8  If our foreign policy were run by cute teenage korean chick singers, swksvolFF, it would be an improvement. Like, totally less grody and stuff.

#7  That is foreign minister Muhata.

Still, better than our Team K-Pop.

#6  Drop them out completely. No reason for them to be there - NZ has no special relationship with the US. Australia and UK? Maybe, but not the US. And especially now with the Kiwis turning to jelly-spined socialists and kneeling to be hand-fed like good little slaves by the Chinese.

The Maori, where Kiwis get their toughness rep, have become neutered: all about tattoos and "Hollywood" Haka for the cameras, not warrior culture. No real balls left in most of them under 35 anymore.

#5  Does this make it Four-Eyes? Somehow that seems cosmically apt!

#3  Since when was New Zealand ever relevant? They're at the ass end of nowhere, have no military, and despise the US. Good riddance I say. Good luck as a Chinese vassal. They'll soon miss the good old days with us.

#2  Since the main partner changed sides, what do you expect them to do?

#1  If they want to be as irrelevant as Andorra then so be it.
