[Mediaite] The current public stance of the Chicago police is that earlier this month, at 2 a.m. on a very cold Chicago night, [about +5F at the time]
Smollett was the victim of what appears to be a heinous hate crime where he was physically attacked by two men, and humiliated due to his race, homosexuality, and possibly his opposition to President Donald Trump. The Chicago media, in official reports, has largely treated that narrative as legitimate, while chronicling the complete lack of suspects [the two persons seen on surveillance camera have been IDed as homeless persons on their way to shelter]
and corroborating evidence [Smollette still refuses to turn over his phone but the police have issued a legal warrant to obtain it]
as more of a frustration than any indication that something else might be going on here.
Behind the scenes, however, based on conversations I have had with multiple people covering the story, there is a radically different take on what really did happen to Smollett. In short, there is near unanimity among police sources that Smollett's story is very likely not true. And that even the media outlets still regurgitating the current "party line" don't really believe it.
Sadly, the statistical probability is that any given racist attack will turn out to be a fake perpetrated by the claimed victim rather than the real, horrible thing. I s’pose we should be pleased our society is so much less racist than so loudly proclaimed.

Hope he enjoys jail, cause that's where he's going. An apology isn't going to cut it once you got cops involved.
Cause if someone was seriously going to do something like that, I really doubt he'd be able to walk afterward and more than likely wouldn't be breathing.
Besides, showy attempts at Terror are lefty traits.

If Smollett was a nobody, the hoax would probably be outed in no time. Because he's from a liberal-identified protected class (entertainer, gay) the pressure to get whatever did or didn't happen all the way under the rug is very great.

That's when the black, leftist, gay Privilege Card comes out. It can cash the check that Smollett wrote.
He is apparently of Jewish parentage as well. There was an article about his little adventure in The Times of Israel when the story first broke — I’m afraid I didn’t actually get beyond the blurb below the headline, but it can be searchd for if someone wants to know which parent gave him that inheritance.

According to director's instructions based on the script written by a scriptwriter. Little Jussie [no really "Jussie'? How do you pronounce that?] should've got professional script & directions.

Queer, black, and weak, poor dear didn't draw a good hand. Now it turns out he also drew the insight straight for stupid. Sometimes the great Dealer in the Sky just screws you with poor cards. When that happens, stay away from big games, you just look end up being seen as you really are....

Got to wonder if this isn't all people of the Chicago bath house culture having a tiff and the cops are trying to figure out how to find the clean end to grasp it by.

Reminds me of a legendary patient who claimed that he had been beaten bloody by 7 (not 6) vicious Iranians back in '79 in a barroom altercation. Police went to the bar to investigate & learned the dude had just passed out on his barstool & fell onto the floor.
Funny how Hollywood scripts don't pan out in the real world. No doubt the Police and Public were scripted to swallow his story hook, line, and sinker. You didn't read you scripts!
[Red State] We all know the FBI’s Stasi-like raid on the home of political consultant Roger Stone was orchestrated to send a political message, but footage from Stone’s home security cameras show just how excessive it actually was.
Tucker Carlson provided viewers with an inside look at the progression of the raid on his show last night. Carlson starts by informing us that a CNN reporter arrived at Stone’s home one hour before the FBI did. Carlson tells viewers that "the footage depicts what you would expect if the FBI raided the home of a Mexican drug lord or even Seal Team Six going into bin Laden’s compound. For context, Roger Stone is a senior citizen accused of making false statements to Congress. Look at what happened." He describes the scene:

Watching Whitaker at his hearings defend the FBI's machine gun (literally) raid I thought to myself, game over. This country is done.
The swamp Geheime Staatspolizei is here to stay. Thanks for nothing Trump. It's hard to defend anyone without a spine. IRS armed raids, Stone and so on will continue as planned.
Settled Science from CNN [Washington Examiner] CNN anchor Don Lemon said that more women should be running for president in the U.S. because they are smarter than men.
"Women are the smartest of the sexes and they always have been," Lemon told TMZ when asked if a women would be a better presidential candidate because she is less likely to have a sketchy past.
"We would be a whole lot better off if women were running things ‐ more things in this country ‐ and I mean that," he said in the off-the-cuff video shot at Los Angeles International Airport.
Currently, more women than men are running in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Recently, two male lawmakers in Virginia have faced backlash and calls for resignation after separate blackface scandals, and a third faces allegations of sexual assault, including rape.
Gov. Ralph Northam faces controversy over a medical yearbook photograph that shows an image of one person in blackface and another in Ku Klux Klan garb. Although it is unclear if he is one of the pictured individuals, it appeared on a page dedicated to Northam that included other obvious photographs of him.
It appears that he has no intention to resign before the end of his term.
Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, who would be next in line to the governorship if Northam were to step down, was accused of sexual assault by one woman, and another came forward later and accused him of rape.
There have also been calls for Fairfax to step down, despite no investigation into the allegations yet. Fairfax maintains his innocence and denounces the allegations.

I was going to say that it should have been the "smarter" of the sexes. When comparing only two things, you should use "-er" rather than "-est".
Then I remembered that these days there are innumerable sexes, so his quote is grammatically correct (to him). Still wrong, but the grammar is correct.

There are more smart men than smart women, and also more dumb men than dumb women. That would still hold if the average IQ was higher for women than men, but it is not.
It's good when the MSM highlight just how clueless they are.

Ugh — pandering to the progressive females and their white knights that are his audience. Best is a mix of men and women running things, keeping things in the middle where it is more comfortable for all, rather than favouring just one or the other.

Perhaps women are smart because they are less likely to use the superlative when they need the comparative.
[Washington Examiner] Republicans who want to combat climate change say their party should avoid the temptation of rejecting the progressive "Green New Deal" without proposing an alternative.
"If the Green New Deal goes down in flames and gets totally discredited, the climate issue is still out there," said Josiah Neeley, energy policy director at the R Street Institute. "You still have to come up with ways to deal with it." "We need the graft"
The Green New Deal resolution introduced Thursday by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass. ‐ with more than 70 House and Senate co-sponsors ‐ contains several nonbinding goals to transform the U.S. economy to fight climate change.
It calls for 100 percent clean, renewable, and zero-emission electricity, and the elimination of carbon emissions from other major sectors of the economy ‐ manufacturing, buildings, transportation, and even agriculture.
The resolution proposes massive public investments in clean energy infrastructure such as light rail and weatherized buildings.
The plan calls for guaranteed government jobs, universal healthcare, and making every residential and industrial building more energy-efficient.

Republican Green Plan: Let people keep their own money.
Like that guy says, "But where is the graft in that?"
I kinda sorta like the idea of trans-oceanic trains. But they should be submarine trains so we don't have to build elevated trestles in those places where the ocean is miles deep.
Force the liberals to explain that getting rid of cars and planes and giving total government control is better than the risks of carbon emission free and plentiful nuclear power (risks that the US navy, France, and others have managed without a problem for decades).

The only reason to worry about CO2 is that there isn't enough of it. Seriously. At 150ppm, the BIOSPHERE DIES. You know, all the plants and stuff like that. It dies. 180ppm was the low when the megafauna died off, most of the complex plants died out. ALL of our plants evolved in atmospheres with 2000+ ppm CO2. Reducing CO2 in the atmosphere is NOT the goal if you want a healthy, growing planet. Avg CO2 in the past was 1500+ ppm. The level we are at now is ABNORMAL and BAD. There's a reason why greenhouses pump in extra CO2. The only warming effect we are having is heat islands around our cities. Lowering CO2 will not save the planet, it will kill off life on it.

Don’t forget: Schultz, like so many other liberal CEOs, has pandered to progressives and thrown non-leftist customers under the bus by grandstanding on guns and open borders. He attempted to mollify SJWs by shutting down all his stores for racial bias training. And he has wavered on his position on tax cuts.
Can’t say I’m shedding tears watching him getting eaten alive and dividing the social justice wing he has tried to ally himself with for years. In fact, I’ll enjoy watching the spectacle sipping a piping hot non-Starbucks beverage and raising a toast to the intramural catfight.
May his donors be many and deep pocketed, allowing them to feed lots of money into the national economy while getting nothing but a brief adrenaline spike in return.
[MSN] A potential presidential campaign may be growing in Brooklyn.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has made some initial steps toward exploring a presidential bid. However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... with an extremely crowded Democratic primary field dominated by some of the party’s biggest names, the mayor’s moves have left some of his allies scratching their heads and dubious of his chances.
One Democratic ally of the mayor’s said de Blasio reached out to them in recent weeks to discuss a potential presidential bid. The ally was surprised the mayor had his eye on 2020 given the long odds of a victory, but assumed de Blasio might see the race as an opportunity to advance his policy ideals.
"He’s a true blue liberal and would do anything for the cause. He may see this as a good platform," the de Blasio ally said.
A former de Blasio adviser also said the mayor had been "shopping for a digital consultant" to work on an unspecified campaign.

Always room in the clown car for a fellow traveler.
[Breitbart] Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said on Friday that the United States government should pay reparations to families that were separated after they entered the United States legally or illegally and faced immigration proceedings.
Jayapal appeared on MSNBC to talk about her interaction with Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker during a House Judiciary hearing on Friday, where she asked him about family separations.
"Our country is still reeling from the horror of family separations that occurred at the border," Jayapal said ahead of questioning Whitaker.
Jayapal told MSNBC host Joy Reid that the separations are "a heinous crime that has been committed on thousands of children."
Jayapal slammed Whitaker for what she called a "dismissive" attitude and for saying that people have "a lot of passion" about children whose parents brought them to the border and an uncertain fate.
"This is an issue that I know there is a lot of passion about," Whitaker said. "I appreciate your passion."
"It’s something we share together," Whitaker said.

Well charger, it seems you don’t know much about Indians. The vast majority of them lean left. Indian men are controlled by their wives or mothers, sometimes both. Basically they’re giant mommas boys. Indian women are calculating b*tches, more so than Western women. Oh yeah, they love them some OPM.

[BREITBART] During a speech on Saturday, Senator Elizabeth Fauxchahontas Warren ...Dem Senatrix from Massachussetts, who traces her noble lineage all the way back to Big Chief Spouting Bull. It has been alleged that she speaks with forked tongue but she denies that. She had a DNA test to prove her lineage and it turns out she's colorless.. (D-MA) announced she is running for president in 2020.
Warren said, "We are here to take on a fight that will shape our lives, our children’s lives, and our grandchildren’s lives, just as surely as the fight that began in these streets more than a century ago. Because the man in the White House is not the cause of what is broken. He is just the latest and most extreme symptom of what’s gone wrong in America, a product of a rigged system that props up the rich and powerful and kicks dirt on everyone else. So, once he’s gone, we can’t pretend that none of this ever happened. It won’t be enough just to undo the terrible acts of this administration. We can’t afford just to tinker around the edges, a tax credit here, a regulation there. Our fight is for big, structural change. This is the fight of our lives, the fight to build an America where dreams are possible, an America that works for everyone. And that is why I stand here today to declare that I am a candidate for president of the United States of America."

She creates her own entitlement class pony. Rides it to successful outcomes for decades, is finally caught up in the lie, and now has the chutzpah to still insist on being president.
The worrisome thing is, after all of these revelations and mischief, she still has a substantial voter backing. I suppose the same type of voters elected Bath House Barry and AOC. I give up. I just flat give up.

Warren and K Harris are competing for the same segment of the Dem party. I think it is obvious that most of the big shot donors think K Harris is the fresher face (and the most attractive one too) and the more electable.
So the longer Warren lasts, the more Harris has to work to get the donors to stay with her and has to compete to get the lefty activists -- both of these lead to problems like Harris's 'abolish health insurance' remark.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
