#1 Two-thirds of adults throughout all developed nations fail to obtain the recommended eight hours of nightly sleep.

The article is long on opinion and short on causal research. Does this article mean that we can expect 2/3 of the population to be at risk for Alzheimer’s? IMO, no. It has been said that both Churchill and Einstein catnapped.

#2 beta amyloid is itself in response to viral infection of the brain. Which is why attempts to suppress it caused MORE Alzheimers rather than less. But if you have a strong immune system then you probably need to sleep less.

The whole sleep thing is far more complicated than any one article could cope with let alone the grauniad's snarky narrativist.
