#4 "none of the five individuals [arrested] are a stranger to the system or this police department."

Says a LOT about 16-12 yr old feral youts. Put em down. They can't be rehabilitated

#6 Now, now, I’m sure they were only going from choir practice to volunteer down at the homeless shelter and needed a ride after stopping to help a bunch of puppies and baby ducks cross the street.

#7 Honestly, I don't care how terrible of things they did. It is bull that 12 and 13 year olds can be charged as adults. Especially the 12 year old, who is not even a teenager yet. You are delusional if you think these people (people, not animals) could not be reformed by the time they have come to majority at 18. Yes, it would take work, rather than just throwing them in a tiny cage like jails tend to do. But the government not wanting to do work isn't really a good argument for exempting them from doing it.

#8 I knew Kyle. He was a friend of my son, a nice guy and had talent.

Two takeaways.

Don't be a hero. Kyle should have given them the car keys. I don't know if he saw the gun before he refused, but his life was not worth a car.

Vernal Hatrack could not be more wrong. When the cops say "none of the five individuals [arrested] are a stranger to the system or this police department" you know you're talking about bad people. You're delusional if you think anything can be done to make them into constructive member of society. It's not the government's job to reform these people, it was their parents. They failed.

I'd be happy to execute them with a clear conscience knowing their reign of misery for others was ended and they were out of the gene pool.

#10 Having demonstrated barbaric behavior how are they entitled to a second chance when aborted-at-birth infants in New York, Virginia (and you can bet other blue states too, soon now) never got a chance at all?

#11 Kyle Yorlets doesn't get a second chance and these vermin wasted a lot of second chances.

Put the parents in jail, use the vermin as fertiliser.

#12 The reality is, we'll feed and shelter them until their release which will probably be in 8-10 years (or possibly less). By that time they will have matured and attained masters degrees in criminal conduct while behind bars. If not put down, they will surely murder and pillage again.

#13 Recently, an anti-gun prosecutor went to court with the argument that a defendant who killed in self defense demonstrated a "predisposition" to kill by having hollow points in his pistol. Fortunately the guy was acquitted as it was in fact self defense. By the prosecutor's argument, these creatures showing up with a loaded gun demonstrated a predisposition to kill also. Any argument they might make that "they just wanted to scare" the victim goes out the window when they shot him.

#14 Vernal __ The Jesuits used to say that if they could have a child until he was 7 years old, they'd have him for life. These mokes are set in their ways and a true change would be vanishingly rare.

#15 The first thing all of you have to understand is that, by their tribe's rules, these "kids" did nothing wrong.

#16 I'd like Vernal to house them with his family upon release. Show us your "compassion". Your wife and kids? Expendable chips in the SJW virtue signalling, amirite?

#17 Compassion has NOTHING to do with this. If anyone can be charged as an adult at any time, why have the fake protections of "juvenile court"? The inevitable answer is that so some people can game the system, while others are punished. There should be no exemptions or exceptions to be laws. If there crimes and ages automatically put them in one category, the prosecutor should not ever, ever, be able to choose to put them in another category just because. I don't care about the circumstances. I don't care about the crime. Justice is blind, or at least it is supposed to be. And if people are really unable to be reformed, chop their flipping heads off and be done with it. Somehow I think you would blanch if that was done in the town square of your town. People like you think that cruelty under the law is fine, as long as you are separated from it, as long as it is sanitized and masked under the guise of the state doing its duty to protect people. Well, it's not.

#18 These children are the exact freaking reason why institutions like state orphanages and state mental institutions used to exist, and should still. If prison is not about reforming people, then releasing them at all, ever, after conviction for a murder or rape or kidnapping is a mistake. Is that the "justice" system you want? Where everything is punishable by death, like some savage sh**hole country that breeds ignorance and death as quickly as terrorists?

#20 People like you think that cruelty under the law is fine, as long as you are separated from it, as long as it is sanitized and masked under the guise of the state doing its duty to protect people.

I agree. That is why I think we should have public executions broadcast live.

#21 I seriously doubt prison reforms very many people. Locking criminals up is a form of punishment, but the main value is it gets them away from the rest of us.

I'd like to believe that no one is beyond redemption. However, for kids this young to be committing murder says they've lost their way a long time ago. It might be possible to fix them, but it would take half a decade of something like Marine boot camp. And the first year would not be pretty.

#23 We are all for equality before the law until it comes to punishment. Then every adjectivial descriptive is used to undermine the whole concept. We shift from being judged for the crime to bring judged for who the person is.

#24 "You are delusional if you think these people (people, not animals) could not be reformed by the time they have come to majority at 18."

What a joke. They'll never get beyond being thugs, and anyone who tries reforming them is just setting themselves up to be victimized.

If you really think there's anything left.worth saving,YOU DO IT. On your dime. And you take responsibility for any and all crimes they commit afterward.

#25 "Locking criminals up is a form of punishment, but the main value is it gets them away from the rest of us."

FOR THEIR PROTECTION. Vernal doesn't understand that the law-abiding won't be if "misguided youths" are permitted to murder and treated as if they're the real victims.

#26 1) A criminal justice system that is full of exceptions is garbage and easily corruptible. Nothing any of you said changes that. 2) Our system is already corrupt; see the Trump investigation. 3) Wait until the child of a politico that you think is doing good work is abducted out of the house by a police organization that disagrees, and charged as an adult. Cases like this set firm precedent for a prosecutor being able to do that when they very well please. 4) I know very well that the reason most of you are so cavalier about this is that you cannot believe that this could ever come back to haunt you. You are wrong.

#27 To the last comment. They are not the real victims. Not even close. I am not pretending they are. But you are also seeming to shut your eyes to the possibility that a person could ever change, and that the government should ever have anything to do with this process. Both of those things are, on all levels, ridiculous. We would all agree that a good person can go bad. It seems like most of you here would shriek heresy if a bad person every tried to become good.

#28 A few do figure it out in prison, where they ar separate from the myriad distractions of the outside world. But given the high percentage with low IQs and undiagnosed mental illnesses, the odds, sadly, are not good.
